Read a few reports of PSG, bidding £90 million tonight for Coutinho that has been flatly rejected, any idea if there's any truth in this at all?

Believable5 Unbelievable17

26 Jul 2017 23:34:52
If he is going to go let's start a bidding war between PSG and Barcelona! Starting bids of £120 million then maybe we will start to entertain them!

Lazy paper talk mate.

Agree5 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 07:52:01
We must keep him! Its essential.

Keita and VVD cannot be missed out on if we do sell him.

Agree17 Disagree1

27 Jul 2017 07:49:41
If it is indeed true that Coutinho has asked to leave, then we should not stand in his way BUT we should try our best to squeeze as much money out of Barcelona as we possibly could. Other clubs are doing that to us, so we'll look like pushovers if we do sell him on the cheap. If we can't get Keita for 75mil, what makes Barcelona so sure they can get Coutinho for 90mil? However, if the player is happy to stay, then we should turn down any bids for him, even if it is world record fee.

Can't we just disguise Moreno as Philip, take our transfer dealings to a new level! 😂.

Agree12 Disagree2

26 Jul 2017 22:38:14
It's being reported that Keita's agent travelled to Hong Kong to persuade / encourage liverpool to continue to bid for Keita!

Believable7 Unbelievable11

26 Jul 2017 23:38:46
They're in Germany not Hong kong.

Agree9 Disagree5

27 Jul 2017 01:03:20
I think he meant when Klopp was reported to have met whith NK's agent while we were still in Hong Kong. Hoever if it is true or not I am not sure but I think that might be illegal if so. I am pretty sure the same agency also has Mane on their books though.

Agree8 Disagree2

27 Jul 2017 02:23:44
I can picture Keitas agent wandering around an empty training ground in Hong Kong today scratching his head at where everyone has gone 😂.

Agree14 Disagree2

27 Jul 2017 11:37:19
Ed02 already said this meeting may or may not have happened, which has gotten RBL peed off at NK's agent for stoking the fires with their player. This has led to the RBL CEO coming out (like John Henry did for Suarez) saying that his agents need to cut it out and that NK is not leaving. If the CEO had to come out and say that then for sure, Keita is not going anywhere. I think that should be the way we go with Couts even if he asks to leave. We should tell him that we need him for this season and that next season, he can go to Barca.

Mirror reporting Phil's asked for a move to Barcelona and asked to leave. Don't know if it's true I've just read it.

Believable4 Unbelievable17

27 Jul 2017 00:28:10
The mirror, says it all.

Agree13 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 01:47:15
Any reports like this arw always crap. If a player " asks " to leave . im sure he loses his cut of the fees he would be entitled to. I remember ed saying its 5% of transfer fee. So a player asking to leave instead of forcing a move is financial stupidity.

Agree1 Disagree6

27 Jul 2017 07:54:00
If they hand in a transfer request they do, I think that's what Southampton are waiting for VVD to do.

Bookies have us as 3/1 favourites to sign Lanzini. Probably nothing but has anyone heard anything?

Believable0 Unbelievable12

26 Jul 2017 21:21:43
Decent player. No coutinho tho 😒.

Agree4 Disagree6

26 Jul 2017 23:05:07
We don't need decent any more, we have a decent squad - especially attacking and midfield. Sign some quality if we can, if not don't waste the money - a la lanzini.

Agree7 Disagree3

27 Jul 2017 01:20:53
To my thinking, the best possible like-for-like replacement for Coutinho would have been James Rodriguez. But that ship sailed away some time ago.

Agree0 Disagree9

27 Jul 2017 08:21:06
Maybe Isco? although he has bedded into the Madrid team in the latter half of last season so is probably unavailable, maybe try and get Rakatic as part of the deal with Barca? although he's coming off a poor season.
Off the top of my head I can't think of many but if we got 100m plus I would test Spurs resolve for Delli Alli, would probably be fruitless but you never know. We know he is a Liverpool fan and wanted to join originally, I doubt Levy would sell and he's notoriously hard to deal with but it would be worth a go?
Others that I could think off are more long term replacements, Meyer, Coric or players who play a slightly different role- Keita, Forsberg, Brandt.

Agree1 Disagree6

27 Jul 2017 08:31:11
Isco is such a good player. He bossed it at Anfield with Ronaldo a couple of years ago. If we signed him it would be nothing short of a miracle though. Well settled at Real and probably very pricey!

La La La La La . fingers in ears . La La La La La. stop talking about Couts replacement La La La La La La . if i close my eyes and wish hard enough im sure I can send Barcalona home empty handed .

Agree10 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 11:39:57
Lanzini? Really? the guy is not good enough, period. He only plays when he feels like it, not consistent enough and is simply a much inferior replacement for Couts. No way in heck, is he coming here if our scouts no what they are doing. In any case, Couts should be convinced to stay. That should be the mantra.

See us and Arsenal are being linked with Benzema from real Madrid any on this Eds? Seems highly unlikely to me 🙈.

Believable0 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach but if circumstances turn out as they might, then Arsenal is certainly an optiom.}

Lacazette and Benzema for Arsenal

Wenger going to play 2 up top?

Benzema to LFC-really?

Agree1 Disagree3

26 Jul 2017 15:58:41
Wenger's getting Benzema to replace Bellerin.

It's on the advice of Rodgers who will be taking the Arsenal hot seat in a few months 😉.

Agree5 Disagree7

26 Jul 2017 15:47:58
Ed why does arsenal seem possible but not us? We are in ucl they in europa league. I agree with a post you replied to a while back (may have been the other ed) saying we need a proper goal scorer to finish all the chances our midfield create. Love ds and firmino. I hope they are on team sheet a lot but ds gets injured, firmino works so hard to create opportunities but when he has a chance I don't feel that he is going to bury it every time. Benzema would be amazing! And why not? Player getting on a bit but still has plenty to offer, I think we are perfect for him. Still one of the massive clubs of the world, in Europe hoping to win league. It would certainly sooth the pain of coutinio if he goes.

Agree0 Disagree9

{Ed002's Note - Read the FIRST LINE.}

Superred were not interested hence why arsenal may have a chance if they lose say Giroud which is looking likely.

26 Jul 2017 16:35:35
I believe Ed002 is alluding to the fact that we are not looking for a striker but Arsenal still are. As to why we're not, I think Ed002 would suggest a "Dear Klipperty" letter?

Ah cool ed sorry dude. Would be amazing signing eh!

Been on here lately all doom and gloom but after thinking clearly about the situation AS IT STANDS, we have lost only one player (whom we were happy to let go) who can make the team sheet and we have signed 3 players who can make the team sheet.

Our squad is stronger and fuller and more top heavy than last year. Salah will torment defences this year I'm sure. Good window
Anything more will be gravy.

26 Jul 2017 11:40:00
Any truth in the rumour that we contacted Leicester regarding Mahrez yesterday? TIA.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - Leicester had no intention of selling Riyad Mahrez but with both Arsenal and Roma declareing an interest there will be a price they would let him go at. Juventus has moved on from their previous interest in the player and I am not aware of Liverpool showing any interest - and again it makes no sense unless Mane is leaving, particularly with Salah having arrived.}

26 Jul 2017 12:58:10
I had this weird feeling, I think it was the way Danny murphy was talking about mahrez on match of the day and I said to my mate. "mahrez will be a liverpool player next season" he would be sweet little addition. We need to keep hold of can
ThING that worry me about coutinio and Barcelona is the fact that he was their second choice so if he waits a year they may land their first choice and he misses out on Barcelona move. For that reason I think he will go this year. Sadly.

Agree2 Disagree16

26 Jul 2017 13:15:44
To be honest if we sold Coutinho he would at least add some creative spark, there's not many other options out there, it's just a matter of what position he would play as he doesn't really have the work rate for the CM role.

Agree2 Disagree10

26 Jul 2017 15:50:08
I know he can be a lazy player and is clearly not a popular choice here. But under klopp his work rate could go up, no will go up. He has a sweet left foot and that can't be denied.

Agree1 Disagree7

26 Jul 2017 16:03:31
His left foot is not the problem. It is everything else, Superred91.

Agree8 Disagree1

26 Jul 2017 00:18:10
Ed002, can I ask if Neymar transfer is at all related to Barcelona approach for coutinho? I don't want to get into money side of things but if I remember correctly I read on here some time ago that giving Messi a new contract would financially be very expensive to them and id they didn't sell Neymar would they be able to complete let's say a €100m transfer for coutinho aswel as what they have already spent? (I think they recently purchased semedo from benfica and I'm not sure if they have bought anyone else)

Believable0 Unbelievable5

{Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with it - Barcelona want an Iniesta replacement and Coutinho is second choice and has been for a long time - and they cannot get their first pick. They do need to move players on and will be doing that.}

26 Jul 2017 00:34:39
Cheers for quick response ed, troubling times ahead for lfc fans me thinks. Appreciate all the work you do on these sites.

Agree6 Disagree3

{Ed002's Note - Business as usual.}

26 Jul 2017 01:42:07
Not troubling to me, football is a business we'd do well as fans to support the club not the individual, the same way we want players that other fans do not want to leave, why are we so different, especially when they want to leave, i say thank you for the memories coutinho, if you do go and if that happens ill still be singing #YNWA no player is bigger than lfc lads.

Agree24 Disagree6

26 Jul 2017 07:51:18
I think if Barcelona sign Coutinho then Neymar will stay. Neymar has Barcelona over a barrel as they know Neymar is their future on and off the pitch. Coutinho's head has been turned, and I believe it's all about trying to get as high a fee as possible for him and utilising that money correctly to bring in a replacement and strengthen other areas. I really hope none of this comes to fruition.

Agree8 Disagree11

26 Jul 2017 08:18:41
Dybala and Verratti. I believe Barcelona have wanted.

Agree1 Disagree2

26 Jul 2017 09:05:29
I am In agreement; with the silly money being thrown around at the moment liverpool should be looking for a world record fee for Coutinho so take Mbappe as a guide €160m and Barcelona are offering less than half that? They have to make him the most expensive player in the world or he doesn't move this season simple as. Klopp doesn't strike me as the same type of guy as BR and won't be bullied.

Agree19 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 08:05:57
Ed002, who's a first choice?

Agree1 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Verratti.}

26 Jul 2017 10:04:16
As well as Ousmane Dembele of BVB. Don't care what Barcelona and their mouthpieces in the Spanish media say, Couts must not be sold this summer regardless of the offer.

Selling your most productive assets isn't good business unless you can replace them with just as productive assets for less money.

Given agents fees, relocation costs, sign on bonuses, new wages, time it takes for new players to settle and an overinflated market right now I don't see us replacing Coutinho without it actually costing us. probably even at 100m.

Agree6 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 20:33:05
I'm afraid if coutinho wants to leave, we need to get the best price and get rid. Whilst a great player he flits in and out of games. He obviously stands out in our team, but it's not the end of the world. Salah looks like a great replacement. Just saying.

Agree1 Disagree7

27 Jul 2017 10:50:15
if he wants to leave he should not have signed that contract, end of discusion, also if he wants to leave he hands in a transfer request, he will not get 5% for wanting to leave, that's a bunch of clown jokes.

Agree6 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 11:05:29
It called buisness?

NO its NOT, this god damn FOOTBALL and we are sick of mediocrity!

Agree5 Disagree0

27 Jul 2017 13:13:04
Liverpool wanted him to sign that contract so we could get the best price. Barcelona had already been making noises, that's why he was given the contract. Loyal players are few and far between, he's Brazilian who has played in Brazil, Italy and England. Why wouldn't he move to Spain? With the kind of money involved, it is business. That's modern football.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 00:13:51
Hi Reds,

To the people worried stating reports that Coutinho has agreed a contract etc with Barca, ignore it. These are the same papers that stated several thousand times that Keita had signed!

I personally cannot see Coutinho leaving this summer. We are back in the Champions League and I am sure Klopp and the board are in agreement that we will not sell our best players, for this summer at least.
I cannot see Coutinho forcing the issue, he has respect for the club and the fans, he is not that type of person.

If you ignore all other reports and just listen to the eds the summer is a lot less painful.

Ed2 has said at least for now, he expects Coutinho to be here at least another season.

He stated a long time ago that Robertson was our most likely left back.

He has stated that Keita is not for sale.

He has stated that Can is considering his options. (ed is it feasible that we may keep Can even if he does not sign a new contract and let him see out his last 12 months? )

He has stated we have not gone back in for VVD after what happened. So unless they approach us, then this deal is off the table for now.

@ED2 what is the situation with the Ox now? all seems to of gone quiet on that front?

26 Jul 2017 03:26:34
We won't let can's contract run down he is not an old man he is 23? Reported 34 mil seems cheap compared to other transfers this year. I hope he stays.

As for coutinio, you are right he has respect for us and that respect is returned. He's a good guy. That is exactly why we can't stand in the way of his dream move. If he stays I want it to be because he wants to. Not a prisoner. If he gives us another year as his choice I'll be chuffed. If he stays forever he would become an field legend. Stay Phil, we will win this year. Need can too.

26 Jul 2017 08:47:16
Tapping up then, shock horror, a club doing what we have been crucified for, as i have said before it's now part of football, Barcelona clearly using neymar as a mouthpiece, meeting with the player, will we get mardy now and report Barcelona for turning coutinhos head, no, we man up, if you don't wanna sell a player don't! Take a leaf outta Leipzigs book!

Agree11 Disagree0

26 Jul 2017 09:17:22
It's all set up around our CL playoff. If we win I think Couts stays, if we lose ( god forbid) I can see him asking to be let go. As stated by others, he has become world class at LFC, and will want to play in world class competition (with his best mate) . Truth is we need to win that playoff to keep our best players, and qualify regularly ongoing.

Agree7 Disagree1

The owners have categorically said that they won't sell Couts under any circumstances if they do sell him then I will unfortunately have to concede that Ozone was right about them all along . I hope that for the sake of our club that Ozone is wrong. We should NEVER sell our best players unless they put in a transfer request and in this circumstance if we do it should be on our terms for an amount that would allow us to afford a similar or better player. I hope that Ozone never gets to say " I told you so "

Agree7 Disagree1

26 Jul 2017 16:48:50
Ozone mate, just like to clarify that my post is not an attack on you, actually I admire that you are consistent in your convictions and that you remain steadfast in your beliefs unlike the bipolar nature of some posters . In this instance however I pray that you are wrong . As unpopular as your views are sometimes I gauge that you as passionate about LFC . I hope that ultimately we all can celebrate the success of our team together regardless. YNWA.

Not so B Scouse, direct quote from UEFA. com

"However, a player can play for one club in the first, second and third qualifying round, and/ or the play-offs, of the UEFA Champions League or UEFA Europa League, and then represent another club from the group stage of either competition. "

I hope I'm wrong, but I think CL proper will see an end to these issues one way or another.
