Ed2 what's the latest with Traore?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Wolves are beginning to lock down and would accept a good cash offer but fear losing their replacement - so it is less likely right now.}

26 Aug 2021 21:40:54
We have to get used to the situation. FSG won't sanction another transfer unless they sell one of our top players. This is exactly what the Eds have been saying all along.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - hopefully we can sell Origi, and get either Bissouma or Kessie. Eds 002 mentioned Spurs were talking to Kessie if they get him that Will break my heart.

26 Aug 2021 22:43:37
Ed, do you really see kessie offering much more than we have? Fabs and hendo with Thiago? Maybe more legs than hendo has now, but not more leadership. Fabs has the cdm role nailed down, and I don’t see kessie offering what Thiago does on the ball. Given we also have Jones and Elliot to give game time too, and Keita, is that what we need?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - not when you bring logic into the equation but then by that logic we don’t need Bissouma which I think we do. I’d be happy with Kessie or Bissouma and sell Ox/Keita next season.

27 Aug 2021 00:10:25
So Ed0666, would it be a central midfielder we bring in as opposed to a versatile forward if we were to sell more players? It seems we are stacked in that area of the pitch unless we sell Keita or Ox. Also is Neuhaus a no-go now? He is my personal preference.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I have no idea about transfers am certainly not an ITK. I just say whom I’d wish for Liverpool to sign Eds 002 is the guy to ask if you want the lowdown on transfer news

27 Aug 2021 05:15:03
I am still saying we should sign traore. Contrary to many here i think he is an exactly what we need.
Pace and power and he can provide salah/ mane with much needed rest along with jota. Especially now given our CL group means every Tuesday/ Wednesday we are going to face a champion team and we would need cover for the weekend epl tie or atleast an option on bench.
If the price is right we can go for him but i don't want this to be a jota type deal. We overpaid for jota based on future income and that's a dangerous path if we continue doing that for more players.
If we sell origi and philips and we can get traore with no 'net spend' i think we have a good deal. His end product can improve but i don't think he is lazy. I think he will work under a Manager that will motivate him to work and kloppo is the best man for that.

Agree2 Disagree0

27 Aug 2021 08:47:39
OP, he’s still not very good, lots of pace and no end product.

27 Aug 2021 09:32:50
He’s the only player I’ve seen one on one who has about a 10% chance of scoring. Shocking finisher.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2021 09:44:57
He was seen earlier having some ready break, topped with a bit of sugar and honey.

He's now been seen trying to tune his TV with no success, so moved on to a 8-10 yrs jigsaw. However, he didn't quite sort the puzzle within the allowed time. Said he was too fast and had no planned finish.

I respectfully disagree Akira. A player who doesn’t score goals cannot adequately replace Mane or Salah to give them a rest.

Ed002 I'm aware what you've said on Origi a while back but is he any closer to the exit door or anything going on with him at the minute in terms of any club being really keen to get him before Tuesday?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Yes the club are open to selling him.}

26 Aug 2021 20:56:46
The club has been open to sell Origi for a while but I believe the fee asked is £20 million. I highly doubt any clubs will go for that, not even 15.

And, even if we do manage to sell, the deadline is approaching fast. It would be difficult to find a suitable player to join, thereby leaving his team with even less time to find a replacement.

Tricky situation. I suspect we will go with what we have for the season. Nat Phillips may potentially leave, on a permanent or loan, but other than that I suspect little else in or out.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 22:07:14
Be sad to see him go as I’ve got a soft spot for him but the cold hard facts are he’s not been good enough. Man Utd’s backup striker (Cavani) got 10 goals last season. Jesus got 9 for Man City. Crikey even Tammy Abraham got 6 goals. Origi got zero. And only 4 the season before. Sadly it’s not enough but wish him nothing but the best.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 22:39:54
All that's great except he doesn't want to leave. Seems quite content living in Liverpool.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - Liverpool is a lovely place to live. Friendly positive, funny people. I don’t blame Origi not wanting to move.

27 Aug 2021 03:57:50
Quite right too Ed066!
Best city in the country, best team and manager in the country too!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I also like Brighton & Norwich.

Ed0666 brilliant spot. Don't blame him one iota not wanting to leave there.

26 Aug 2021 13:27:05
Apparently Lucas Ocampos wife has posted you never walk alone on her Instagram, papers now saying he is cast in stone bang on for a move to Liverpool, we ever even had scouts look at him?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

26 Aug 2021 13:43:57
Hope not.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:55:07
kwkhong why do you hope not.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:56:15
It would suggest to me that Jota's future is seen down the middle if we are interested in Ocampos as he is a left winger or left midfielder. He's actually a pretty good player, but he is more of a playmaker who cuts inside than a flying winger so doubt he'd match Mane's goal output.

Having said that, Jota will score more goals than Firmino at the cost of build up play involvement, so maybe a player like Ocampos to gradually phase out Mane, makes more sense in terms of maintaining balance in the next evolution of our attack. A front 3 of Ocampos, Jota and Salah would be pretty damn good! Then you'd imagine the club has hopes that Gordon or Elliott are ready to replace Salah in around 2024/ 5.

It will be interesting to see if there is anything in this rumour, but he us certainly a good player. He also defends really hard from the front which we know Klopp likes. Certainly a better option than Coutinho due to being younger with a very good injury record.

Agree6 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 14:36:21
Maybe he’s being brought in to play on the right? Play in the same way that Salah does? Or cover the left or right depending on what we need out of him on that particular day?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 14:36:22
If Lucas is brought in to push Firmino, he's not really an upgrade. He's 27 but would like to loan pipco, save some ammo next summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 15:20:12
Why would he be brought in to push firmino exactly? Ocampos play predominantly on the left but sometimes on the right.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 15:31:20
Shaqiri is a better footballer than Ocampos in my opinion. If we are going to replace mediocre with mediocre, we may aswell have kept shaqiri around. It’s not like Ocampos is young potential either.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 15:39:46
Didn't Ed002 say that Sevilla were interested in Minamino? Maybe something's going on with that.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 15:48:54
Even if you do think Shaqiri is better than Ocampos, it's irrelevant. Ocampos has missed 23 games through injury in his entire senior career which spans 10 years. Shaqiri has missed 40 games in the last 2 seasons.

Agree4 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 15:04:47
He’d be a good signing, can play left or right, tends to play left side of the field but is right footed is he not? Has quick feet, decent finishing, seems to get good numbers wherever he goes. Be interesting to see the numbers being discussed as he is 27 so I’m surprised we’re looking at him if the rumours are true, definitely adds some flair.
Is he what we need? I don’t know I’m not Klopp but I’d prefer him over traore or sarr.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 17:21:29
It’s certainly a step up from Traore.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 20:28:48
Ed002's silence on this one is intriguing.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The site has been trashed on the transfer page by the Champions League noises. Once that works through to page 2 then I will return and try and explain what is going on.}

27 Aug 2021 05:19:00
He'd be very decent if Origi is leaving, works very hard. kind of like a dogged player and very good dribbler with end product in my opinion. He might be 27 but he actually just turned 27 last month. I bet if he was 26, most would think it's a very good age. For the right price, I'd take him for sure (if we needed a player in his position) .

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Aug 2021 07:42:27
OK, look forward to it Ed002, thanks.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 11:50:26
Ed's heard a whisper that were talking with Brighton about bissouma and what price would be excepted and possibly origi going to them as part exchange? Cracking bit of business if we pull this off.?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I would not get your hopes up.}

26 Aug 2021 13:18:48
That’s x2 days on the bounce you’ve ruined my day now pal…🤣🤣👍.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think that Liverpool are missing a trick with Aouar right now.}

26 Aug 2021 13:29:13
When you look at Chelsea buying Kounde' and getting Saul on loan besides Lukaku you really have to be an optimist to believe Liverpool's squad, now weakened with the departure of Wijnaldum, can compete with the squad depth and strength of the Chelsea squad. If Liverpool can't afford the likes of Bissouma then we'll be content with a top 4 position come end of season.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:29:44
If Michael Edwards manages to swap Origi for Bissouma he deserves a statue, erected directly in front of Shankly's!

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:32:07
I couldn't agree more ED002. One hell of a player there in the right team. I hear the fee isn't unrealistic either.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is available on a one year loan with an obligation to by of €30M at the moment.}

26 Aug 2021 13:38:04
Im surprised we have held no interest in Aouar at all.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:43:12
Couldn’t agree more with you there Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:46:24
Not seen much of Aouar if I’m honest Ed’s . But heard a lot of good things about him. surely we’re looking at him with a loan possible aswell? Do you know if we’ve even enquired about him Ed’s?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He has not been seen as a priority by Liverpool.}

26 Aug 2021 13:49:53
Klopp prides himself on coaching over spending for the sake of it. We have 8 players competing for 3 places. Fab, Hendo and Thiago, Ox, Naby, Jones, Elliot, Milner, so where does Bissouma sit? Surely it makes more sense to give our purchases a final chance and whilst leaving space for our youngsters to get more games?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:54:48
Good god sounds like a hell of a deal for a well thought of player. Any reason he’s not being pursued Ed or is it just he’s not fancied?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I imagine that up to now he would be too expensive.}

26 Aug 2021 14:24:01
With the window coming to a close soon and options dwindling, do you think we might take advantage of the new price/ deal and make an effort for Aouar, ed002?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I can say I think the club should do.}

26 Aug 2021 14:59:53
Can i know ed why Lyon really want him gone? i remember couple years ago he is seen as one of their prize asset. i still remember last season transfer window, Arsenal has interest but he is too pricey. what happen since then?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He has wanted to leave for a while and was given an assurance he could leave this summer if a suitable offer arrives - and this is the ideal time.}

26 Aug 2021 15:13:20
He was on my wishlist when the summer started.

I guess since then the feeling has been that Elliott and Curtis are ready for more prominent roles.

There’s also been a lot of talk about his attitude although I’ll take that with a pinch of salt.

Some club will get a good player at a very good price.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 15:12:45
Any interest as of right now from Liv or other clubs ed? that deal kind of suits Liv i think. would the loan fee be high?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Spurs and Arsenal although Spurs appear to have turned away. Juventus could yet return.}

26 Aug 2021 15:34:25
Not that it's related to Liverpool, as they don't show interest, which I personaly think is a shame, but i've read a couple of places now that Aouar have an attitude problem?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 16:25:12
That is unbelievable, if he is available on a loan to buy and we haven’t declared any sort of interest, when that is literally the most ideal scenario for us right now. He must not be injury prone enough for us to be genuinely interested in acquiring him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - hang on a second before you get your knickers in a tangle doesn't Aour play left of centre? If so we have Mane that plays there and Keita plays the Aour position also. We can’t stockpile players no matter how good they are. We’re also broke, have HG quota issues and I think I’ve just seen Mbappe at Anfield signing on a dotted line.

26 Aug 2021 17:52:38
If Aouar is really that good why are Lyon so keen to get rid of him for such a low price and why are the biggest clubs in Europe not fighting over his signature?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 16:14:02
Ed002, can you put in a word to Edwards on our behalf? I thought we just completed a deal with Lyon and should be aware of who's available on the other side?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 07:51:34
If we were going to make a surprise signing I've got two names I think it could be.
First one (& less likely imo) is Mikkel Damsgaard, who seems to be a fairly recent target and we'll probably scout him over a longer period of time to see if he's right for us.
The second one and the one I believe we might go for is Christoph Baumgartner. He's a versatile player having spent time in Midfield and also as a wide forward. Seems like we've had an eye on him for a while and from what I've seen has the talent and attitude to become a top player for us.
Interested to hear what the Eds think the likelihood of either of these 2 players joining Liverpool is.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Mikkel Damsgaard (LW/AM) Spurs asked after a price for the player at the behest of Mr Mourinho who may have taken his interest on to Roma. Now Spurs have lost the plot rather and have made a particularly low offer. If they are serious they will return and make a serious offer. Real Madrid consider him an option at the right price if they sell Isco. Sampdoria saying Southampton and Leeds, and more recently Aston Villa, have all enquired about the availability of the player who only joined last summer. Juventus see him as a potential addition but game time would be restricted. Sampdoria have told Milan that they are not open to being given their "off cuts" in exchange and want a huge cash deal - but Milan would need to sell Leao to bring him in - and they also need the money to complete the Tonali deal. Sampdoria are reluctant to sell but I suspect more clubs will be showing an interest. I expect him to stay another year.

Christophe Baumgartner (AM/CM) Hoffenheim are not looking to sell and his agent has said thaty they will be discussing new contracts for Christoph Baumgartner and Florian Grillitsch with the club very soon. To date three Premier League sides have asked his agent about availability - Spurs, Liverpool and Manchester United.}

26 Aug 2021 10:16:28
Unless a non HG place suddenly comes up we won't be signing anyone.

Good post CS 👌.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 11:32:49
Oh Mane…we just sold Shaqiri, that is a non-HG spot opened and I don’t think we will be registering Karius. So a spot to register isn’t a problem, it’s all about financial package for signing.

Agree5 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 12:21:19
I think we need to accept the fact the club is skint and we are not signing anyone else. The money raised from sales now will be going toward paying off fees for players already at the club.

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:04:33
Chief scout there is no surprise signing mate. Would if happened before now not the last days. All players linked finishes at the same words of “doesn’t fit within our budget”. We’ve needed to shift some fringe players and reduce the rate bill of which we have done but it’s not enough I’m afraid. C.V. has hit the club hard financially.

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 06:06:31
Dear Eds, with all these news about LFC getting Mbappe, can you bring us back to earth by confirming that we are not getting him? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any news about Liverpool having sign Mbappe.}

26 Aug 2021 09:18:16
Can you confirm if we have held talks with anyone this week with a view for deal? Cheers Ed.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am sure there would have been approaches from agents trying to move players on to Liverpool and talks over Liverpool looking to move players on.}

26 Aug 2021 09:58:59
Eds, were we ever 'in' for Mbappe? Apart from the apparent tenuous links to Nike. I always wonder where these stories of Mbappe to LFC actually eminated from? Seems laughable with our much publicised 'sell to buy' policy?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No.}

26 Aug 2021 10:58:31
Thanks Ed002, well that wraps up these rumours. Frankly, I am not sure how we can afford his wages, not to mention the transfer fees.

26 Aug 2021 12:42:25
Everyday is groundhog day on this site!

Agree2 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 13:03:52
ed - do the club consider increased revenue from shirt sales that would offset some of transfer fees? I'm assuming they do, and that the revenue isn't seen as worth it.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, not to any great degree.}

26 Aug 2021 18:08:52
Let it go dudes.
Mbappe won't be signing for Liverpool any time soon.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Aug 2021 23:56:27
Thanks ed and interesting. Is that because the revenue from shirt sales is directed somewhere else?

In most other walks of life having a superstar name attached to whatever it is your promoting would spike revenue. So presumably having a name like Mbappe or Haaland would catapult Liverpool into the stratosphere. Just wonder how they valuate that or if they even do!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool don't get the revenue from shirt sales. They get a fixed fee from Nike and a percentage of any increase in profit.}
