Is it me or does anyone believe that a players haircut does a lot for his reputation as a good or bad player.

Examples:

Roysten Drenthe - Great player but isn't percieved all that good as he doesn't look pleasing on the eye.
Give him a skinhead and watch his value grow!

Aqua man - This guy is a lot better than most of our midfielders, but he needs a haircut tofit into the scouse way!

Voronin - Well. . no. .mind you. . nah he is just a terrible player

the reason torres did not play tonight is not because he is not match fit.the only way to get match fit is to play matches, the real reason is because he had a massive bust up with hodgson with the way the club is going.he feels he has been lied to regarding the big name signings he was told was going to happen and the takeover being near to completion.all he sees is mediocre free signings or cheap deals for players way past their best.konchesky being the final straw.he would move tomorrow if possible but realises he will now have to wait until january at the earliest.gerrard has also informed his agent to put the feelers out to see if anybody would be intrested in signing him.he has basically had enough and feels he can do no more and that he deserves the chance to try something new before he hangs up his boots.the truth is there will be no takeover for quite a while yet as any potential buyer is waiting until the planks can no longer re structure the loan and finally default on their payments.this is one of the reasons the club is being asset stripped right in front of our eyes.we face a very uncertain future for quite a while yet and the best we can hope for is a mid table finish this season, we better get used to teams putting 2 or 3 goals past us this season because this has got to be the worst group of players we have had since the dark days of souness.

Why do people keep comparing the price of one player compared to another? Obviously a players price depends on many factors, how many teams want him, length of his current contract, the wealth of the buyer, the wealth of the seller, owners willingness to sell, buyers eagerness to buy, nationality, age, marketability, current availability of similar players, ability, etc it's not just a simple case of comparing the ability of one player to another! ! !

All we need to do is keep kuyt. Great squad player. Sign M. Diarra and it looks like villa are going out so we should defo buy ashley young ! ! He would solve so many prolems. Also get 20 mil or just under for mascherano. Trezeguet woud also be a great back up striker on a loan or on the cheap. Also i believe that toivenon to be a great talent that we should sign up. .

I can tell you now the only bit of transfer business will be for a cheap left back that's it no more. LFC are skint. If Mascherano is sold it will go against the debt. None of this money will go on players.

In response to this IDIOT above IF Barca buy Mascherano we will be paid in installments as Barca do not have the funds to pay 20-25 mill straight up.

Why do you think they wanted to include players in the deal?

Answer! Barca are skint to.

Ed, people were saying Kuyt would be leaving for inter. He Just played and scored for us today. What do others say? I believe he is staying with LFC.

Max Uganda (Lira)

{Editor's Note: well Max Uganda (if that is your real name), it just goes to show how fickle the fans of some teams can be. Last week Mascherano was a god like creature who could do no wrong, no he would likely be stoned on cobblestones of Huyton. Dirk Kuyt was known for his tireless running and selfless play - but for the past 36 hours he has been an incarnation of Beelzebub himself. I expect him to stay.}

Hope we go in for ricky van wolfswinkel as hesgot a hatrick alresdy tonight in europa league.
He is just what liverpool need at the mo, i know he will be cup tied for europa so hope we get him if we put bid in
I have heard we will sign paul scharner soon and mario gomez on loan with view to permanent deal when takeover complete.
VDV WIIL BE COMING WITH MASCH GOING AND MOST FRINGE PLAYES GOING NCLUDING SPEARING.

Ed} Will we sign any real quality we must be as cole said in interview with the payers we are looking to buy? {editor's note - it depends on the sale of Mash, we haven't any money until he goes. That is why we are playing hard ball, we need to get as much as possible for him in order to afford our targets.}

To the person who wrote "Why not sell mach to barca for 20 mill plus bojan and abidal "

as much as i rate the mercanary as the best in the world in his position how much are you actually valuing him here? barca won't let bojan go let alone as part of such a crazy deal as this, we need to bear in mind masch wants out

Why not sell mach to barca for 20 mill plus bojan and abidal ( bojan young quality stricker and abidal good solid lb who we can let go of in a year so that taiwo can come in on a free next season when his contract runs out because he has refused to negotiate a new one )
kuyt 15 mill to inter
lucas 8 mill to santos( he is still highly rated in brazill )
el zhar 2 mill to leeds ( will never be a good player )
bable 15 mill ( rated highly in netherlands )
and buy ruiz for 12 mill
turan for 10 mill plus plessis and ammo on loan
banega 12 mill

Shame to see nemeth leave i watched him in the reserves for a couple of seasons seemed to me to be a natural goal scorer surely a loan move would have been swufficient, is there another striking talent coming thru the reserves?

is there striking talent coming through you ask well look up raheem sterling, pacheco even amoo! !

2 are going to be in the 25 man squad this year and imo will be successes in the pl nemeth was a bit lightweight for this league

TIME IS RUNNING OUT! if we are to have a good season we need to strengthen our squad asap. masch deal needs to be completed, we need to try a get barca to include as many players in the deal as possible as this will mean we will hav atleast a few new signings (prefably cacares and hleb plus cash, as hleb would be a replacment for aqua and cacares would mean we could sell kyrgiakos), we then need to sign diarra or banega to replac masch, a backup striker (pazzini, gomez, toivanen, van wolfswinkel), a left back (salcido, konchesky) and maybe a speedy winger (swp, ben arfa). its gonna be difficult to do this in only a few days but it is possible.

Line-up including most probable signing in each position:
Reina
Johnson Carragher Agger Konchesky
Diarra Gerrard
Cole Hleb Jovanovic
Torres

Subs: Jones, Cacares, Skrtel, Maxi, Poulsen, van Wolfswinkel, Kuyt

Lots of quality and depth in all positions.
Reasonably realistic, I think.

26 Aug 2010 17:53:10
To be honest, and this is only my opinion, I think it is vital for us bring in at least 3 new faces before the transfer window shuts. I think monday night just exemplified a problem that we've had and haven't solved for the last 5/ 6 years: lack quality out wide (or even just lack of wingers out wide). For as long as i can remember lfc have played have played with stikers/ att.midfieders on the wings who never stay wide. With the wingers coming in off the flanks too much it congests the opposition defense and midfield making even harder to play through the center. Now this wouldn't be so much of a problem if our full backs marauded down the flanks like arsenal's do but our's don't do it with any degree of consistency (not even Johnson). Now I don't think it was a coincidence that when we finished 2nd, and had our best season for however long, that we had Riera consistently performing (not outstandingly cos he's not an outstanding player as he lacks pace for a winger) on the left wing.
Now, even if we are to understand that the yanks have shafted us once more and not given us any money to spend, we have only spent £6.3mil so far (shelvey, wilson, poulson) and brought in around £11.2mil (riera, yossi, nemeth and san jose) thus giving us £5mil still to spend. I think that we should take £20mil for masch, £14mil for kuyt (I luv him but i think he holds us back), £2mil for el zhar and plessis, and 8/ 9mil for Babel.
That would leave us with a £48m transfer budget, with which would bring in Lassana Diarra for £8mil (way better than mahamadou diarra and real want to get rid of him), SWP for £6/ 7mil (Under a manager like roy and given some consistent playing time I think he could be fantastic), Ola Toivonen for £10mil (Big, versatile player who could sub for or play with Torres, and will develop into something special) and Ashley Young for £20mil (I think it would be accepted by villa and pushed through by young due to the problems at the club at the moment). This would all cost us around 41mil and if we got rid of insua for 4/ 5mil we could get in bridge for the same amount. U might not agree with bridge and SWP but they could even act as good (and english) squad players when the take over is completed.
Also, I think it was a mistake to let aqua go as he added quality to our average bench so maybe a cheeky loan bid (with a view to buy) for van der vaart might be an option. Let me know what u think, and please could u publish this ed cos it was a mission to write. {Editor's Note: Of course.}

Real Madrid have handed Liverpool an instant replacement for wantaway midfielder Javier Mascherano by offering Mahamadou Diarra.

ARE LIVERPOOL FANS AWARE THAT THIS IS NOT THE DIARRA WHO PLAYED FOR CHELSEA, ARSENAL AND POMPEY.
THIS IS THE DIARRA FROM MALI WHO PLAYED FOR LYON AND WAS SIGNED BY FABIO CAPELLO IN BECKHAMS FINAL SEASON AT REAL MADRID. HE IS A CAPELLO TYPE PLAYER - SOLID, NOT VERY EXCITING AND CAN PASS THE BALL BACKWARDS AND SIDEWAYS - SHOULD FORM AN INCREDIBLE AND DYNAMIC MIDFIELD PARTNERSHIP WITH LUCAS! ! BUT STILL NOT A BAD PLAYER WITH PLENTY OF EXPERIENCE (PRESUMABLY DIARRA WOULD HAVE PLAYED WITH EX LFC MIDFIELDER MO SISSOKO FOR MALI? ).

Jus a thought if inter and rafa want kuyt and mascherano can big roy ask for weslie snieder in a part exchange

{Editor's Note: Rafa wants neither apparently. He is only a coach. You need to speak to the Technical Director - he buy the players. I did notice that Rafa has seemingly lost a lot of weight recently - at least from what I could see of him (neck and head) in the interview.}

Ed. would diarra be available on a free? think people are mixing the two diarras up! ive seen all prices from free to 18 million euros on here! mahamadou was a great player few seasons back mopping up like masch and for a free would be strupid to turn down. i can only hope woy is being tactical checking players oout carefully before signing as right now I could probably choose eleven players available on a free or available on loan so why arent we snapping them up?

cambiasso and diarra with poulsson would leave gerrard cole and lucas (backup) as attacking mids.

Im guessing when you say the horses mouth you mean u actually heard it from Ibrahimovic, as you must know him being on 1st name terms. .or did you mean the cart horse monument at the docks. .lay off the LSD. we couldnt afford his wages even with maschs and aquamans. .

Masch to go for between £18m - £22m if Inter enter the frame and create a bidding war - by Sunday.

Hopefully Kuyt will be sold to Inter for £10m+ as I don't rate him - has reached his potential and at best is mediocre - however this will be doubtful if Inter win the masch bidding.

With funds available:

Konchelski - £2m (most likely) with Insua going out on loan to Fulham

C Cole £8+6m add-ons on appearances

A Young £15m

Maybe if cash allows: Benega/ Parker £12m

Total £25m/ £37m

Ideal team XI

GK:Riena
LB:Aurelio
RB:Johnson
CB:Carragher

Just the news we have been hoping for (well not takeover news but. . ) a £20mil bid has been made for Masch from Inter Milan, with Barcelona and now Inter Milan having tabled official bids the price will go up to a more reasonable sum.

The barcelona bid was for 12m mate. theyre taking the michael. Now messi is publicly whining again so we can expect the barca sob-story/ pr routine we saw with fabregas. Both clubs are trying to panic us, Id just tell inter 22.5 (halfway) and get shot of him just to spite barca, who im rapidly hating more and more despite the fact i lived there for 2 years!
Oh yeah and i doubt toivonen is coming, they seem pretty keen to hold on to him. And if we get trezeguet like the papers are saying i think il wear my shirt inside out this season in shame. Duckula

The huang bid did have substance despite claims on here it didnt.

kuyt is going to inter - agent has agreed terms. roy hodgon desperately wants to keep him but hands could be tied.
because the takeover hasnt happened before transfer window nando is v close to leaving. . he was promised investment which hasnt materialised.

Diarra is also definitely being worked on. . masch will only go to barca for 18 plus. not interested in player exchange. hleb may still come though but won't influence price.

i hate saying this abt nando. im his biggest fan. but this is from sources inside CAA where peter kenyon works. he is involved with the takeover through an unnamed investor.

this is the investor that will probably takeover. however i stress again kenny huang was a very serious bidder. he just wanted to have it done well before the window and pulled out from frustration.

blame the yanks and the board if nando leaves, he desperatley wanted to stay. but only if new faces were brought in. "

Sorry mate, but given he himself admitted he hadn't necessarily secured all the investment needed and never made a formal bid, i'd hardly categorize him as serious. I hate to say "i told you so", but i, and some others, said an age ago that he was using us to eventually aim for a side lower down the table and it looks to be coming true. He's built his profile with a CV even Jeffrey Archer would consider stretching the truth and now likely has the ear, or is at least on the radar, of some people who may be able to finance a bid for a cheaper club. Even Harris said that the likelihood of anyone going through the press being serious about buying a club is nigh on non-existent.

{editor's note - is this all a complete fantasy? Rafa gave Parry a list, Keane was on there, Parry got Keane, but paid a lot more than Rafa wanted and also messed up a deal for Barry. Rafa threw his toys out of his pram and refused to give Keane a chance to get Parry out of the club.}

And you lot claim to be in the know! lol. villa. this is common knowledge even with the players. .

You really think someone who is at the top of his game and profession throws toys out of his pram because they payed too much. and would refuse to play a player he (as you claim) asked for. . Well if your using this site a step up to journalism the sun would take you with arms. . or even the daily sports. . lol. what crap. .
And the walcott/ bale saga. . well someone once of slipped some acid in that tea i had at St Marys. either that or rafa lied to the coach which makes so sense as all. . just like a professional premiership manager on 5million a year refusing to play a player he has asked for just because the cost was too much (or are you saying that the excess was from rafa's own wages? lol)

I'll look foward to reading or articles in the sun/ star/ sport in the future (just remember though the "ALiens ate my baby" storys have been done to death. .

I know you won't post this as you only post the rubbish you want the public too see. . (just like the real media) so this is just for you. . {editor's note - grow up mate. You are talking complete and utter crap. You sound like a writer for the S*n yourself - you seemed to have overlooked the fact that I didn't dispute that we had a deal set up for Villa as that is very common knowledge and certainly you have no need to be an ITK to know about it. What I said came from a very very good source who worked very closely with Rafa at the time. Rafa wanted Parry out, because of the deals with Barry and Villa falling through and because he overpaid for Keane and left Rafa with very little chance of getting the targets he wanted. While at the same time refusing to sanction moves for the players Rafa had targeted as priority. We all know the ones Parry made the club miss out on, Ronaldo for about 3.6m being an obvious glaring error. Rafa had enough and took on the situation head on, it worked, Parry was removed (rightly so) and Purslow was brought in instead. You can dispute what I have said all you like, but I am 100% sure on my source for this.}

A few twists are apparently on the cards still as regards to the takeover.

Whilst shiek Mohammed and abu dhabi are fighting it out, the American larry Ellison is making headway in the background.
He has had a meeting with hicks and gillett and has been informed of any developments.

He has told hicks he will not pay his price but will pay more than what the others are willing to pay. .and the reason is because he recently lost out on a sports franchise and has to much money sitting idol and would like to invest in one of the top clubs in world "soccer".

This rumour has got legs and it is gaining momentum behind the scenes. .expect his announcement soon because he not shy in being revealed and hasn't signed any ndas because he's willing to buy outright, after he does dd.

This will surely now signal who the serious bidders are because when he announces his arrival the others will have to up their game or fcuk off big time because he will blow them away

Diarra to Liverpool. HEAR THIS!

If you believe what you read. . Liverpool were yesterday locked in negotiations with Real Madrid over the signing of Mahamadou Diarra not to be confused with the younger Lassana Diarra (signed from Portsmouth in 2009). Mahamadou Signed from real Madrid in 2006 for a fee of 26 million euro's from Lyon. He would come in as a direct replacement for Masc and at 29 years of age with vast experience he'd be a great buy for the club. The only downside to the signing would be his long persisting knee injury that forced him to undergo Surgery twice and loose his squad number to his younger namesake in 2008. He has since been left on the sidelines of Madrids first team but believe me a 29 years old with a point to prove. . He could be exactly what are midfield needs and the fans for that matter.

Because let's face it with if Gerrard's back injury persists were in for a rough ride with only Poulsen and Lucas as experienced cover ! !

Inter Milan have made an official £20m bid for Liverpool's Argentina midfielder Javier Mascherano, 26, who is also a target for Barcelona.

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has accused his predecessor Rafael Benitez of reneging on a written promise that he would not try to lure players away from Anfield to his new club Inter Milan - with the Spaniard tracking the Merseyside club's Dutch forward Dirk Kuyt.

David Trezaguet to the Premier League, with Liverpool, West Brom and Aston Villa all interested in the 32-year-old Frenchman.

Hi Ed,

I agree with what you say about like for likes, but are you not concerned that the team have bascially replaced who they have let go and not actually invested in the areas that clearly need improvement. Based on the figurtes I can find Liverpool have spent £3million more than they have generated through sales but saved c£11million in wages per year. There has been no obvious movements for the players in positions we need, striker & winger.

Even the whole konchesky thing bothers me, Insua as far as I can see is still with us, qualifies as home grown (somehow) and is younger. He is also as good.

Has Roy ever commented on the need or his desire to sign a winger / forward?Liverpool Rumours
Ed or anyone willing to offer and answer, are Liverpool not in desperate need of the following;

Masch replacement
Winger/ s
2nd striker

Why have we not made any obvious signs of movement for players? Is it a case of quite bids and even quieter rejections?

Look at the team in's/ outs (only players who are first team squad)

OUT In - replacements?
Masch (will happen) Poulson?
Riera Jova
Aquaman None
Yossi Cole
Keane (granted he made little impression but this role was never replaced)

So even looking at these debatable at best 'improvements' we are still goign to be a DM down, what is happening? ? (in my opinion jova is no better than riera, cole marginally better than yossi, poulson isn't a like for like with masch either)

{Editor's Note: Two things. The rules are different this year with the squad restrictions - so we needed to take a look at the balance and consider the cover we already have. Secondly, with a new manager in place don't expect like-for-like replacements. No doubt many others will have an opinion.}

To those that run this site - I think it is very important that anyone who didn't see this excellent piece of research on Kenny Huang, his supposed LFC bid and his character from yesterdays Liverpool Banter page.
Every Liverpool fan should get the chance to read it and see his unsuitabilty. So I have pasted it on today. Thanks

25 Aug 2010 12:25:56
The credibility of Liverpool's would-be saviour Kenny Huang is thrown into further doubt today with revelations that he has a history of making claims about his background and business interests that swing between exaggeration and falsehood.
Huang has been hailed as Liverpool's would-be saviour in some quarters since early August, but withdrew from the bidding process without explanation on Friday.
Sources say he pulled out after failing to produce evidence of funds, and failing to identify his backers. This development came amid ongoing but unsubstantiated claims that he has the backing of China's $332bn CIC sovereign wealth fund, and that he may re-enter the fray.
Yet Huang's background suggests that any grandiose claims about him, or by him, should be scrutinised carefully rather than taken at face value.
A three-week investigation by sportingintelligence has unearthed disturbing evidence that Huang has fabricated information about his studies at prestigious American universities, has claimed to be in a position of power at one of China's biggest, richest banks (which the bank denies), and, as we previously revealed, has personally claimed to be the head of a group that owned a 15 per cent stake in an NBA basketball franchise, which was never true.
There are myriad claims that don't stand up to scrutiny, and sportingintelligence will detail them today. Those mentioned in the previous paragraph are among the most serious because Huang made the claims himself under oath in January this year, in a federal court in Miami, during a civil trial in which he prevailed (and was awarded costs of more than $300,000) – after convincing a jury of his innocence.
Huang's bid for Liverpool, and its credibility or otherwise, is important for several reasons.
Liverpool are historically one of England's most prized football assets, and desperately need new owners and new finance to take them forward. As things stand, their fans remain in the dark about when or if that will happen.
Huang's "credibility" was established to the extent that reports of a potential Huang-CIC-LFC deal even reached the front pages as well as the back pages.
This in turn led to serious analysis and interpretation by economists and geo-political observers in respectable publications about the role of "new China" in the wider world.
And if CIC, with Huang as the frontman, had bid or ever do bid for Liverpool, as part of a new spurt of international Chinese cultural expansion, it would be an enormous story, in sporting, economic and political terms. That's why sportingintelligence started to look at it in such depth.
But was it actually true? Is it? And if not, how did so many people come to believe it?
It has been difficult to know for sure what is true about Huang's bid, not least because those speaking on his behalf (latterly, officially, the London and Hong Kong offices of the PR firm, Hill & Knowlton, with others briefing in the shadows) have been unable or unwilling to respond to some of the simplest questions about his background.
Hence the importance of an official trial transcript (publicly available), where Huang, in his own words and under oath, makes claims about his own background.
To stress: he won the case in question in a jury hearing. He has also won other legal actions against him, pending appeal(s); and his Florida lawyer says there is only one outstanding judgement against him, surrounding unpaid debts of $788, 300.54, plus interest, dating back to 1998. Huang is appealing that.
But the testimony in the January case about his background is so important because it is a rare (perhaps sole) example of Huang making personal statements that have been officially recorded and cannot be claimed as out of context or misquotes.
In his testimony (and the relevant parts of the transcript are here):
• CLAIM Huang said, in the present tense, that he was the leader of a group that owned 15 per cent of the NBA basketball team, the Cleveland Cavaliers. That stake, if true, would have been worth around $70m. Huang's direct quote is: "I am the leader of the group that has 15 per cent of the ownership." Asked to clarify that he leads an investment group that owns 15 per cent of the Cavs, he replies: "Correct."
• DENIAL A spokesman at the NBA's head office in New York has issued sportingintelligence with a statement saying: "Mr. Huang has never had any ownership interest in the Cleveland Cavaliers or any other NBA team."
.
• CLAIM Huang said, while talking about his business interests: "I'm sitting on the board of Bank of Communications, assets management, which is the fourth largest bank in China." The bank is indeed one of China's biggest, with almost 70,000 employees and revenues in the billions. A Hill & Knowlton spokesman backed up Huang's claim of a role on an assets board.
• DENIAL Eric Pan, a deputy senior manager at the Bank of Communications' HQ in Shanghai, has issued sportingintelligence with a statement saying: "I would like to confirm that Mr. Huang does NOT have any position at our bank, nor has he ever held any position at our bank or at the Board of our bank."
.
• CLAIM Huang said he worked at the New York Stock Exchange "starting the end of 87". This would coincide with the end of the only period of his US education that has yet been verified: just four months at Columbia University from September to December 1987, as documented below by the official body in the USA that provides such data.

• CLAIM Huang adds in his testimony: "The New York Stock Exchange sent me to another school, New York University. When I was working there, I also attended the MBA program". Separately, on a website of one of Huang's other companies, Aspen (now effectively defunct), there is the claim that Kenny Huang "completed the MBA financial management courses at New York University, New York when he was working in Wall Street in the 80s."
• DENIAL But Andrew Morton, an administrator at the NYU graduate records and registrations office (which holds information on all past and present MBA students), has told sportingintelligence there is no record of Kenny Huang, under either his Chinese or anglicised names, at NYU, either on the computer records, which date back to the early 1980s, nor within any hard-copy records of attendance or graduation at any time. "You'd be surprised how often people say they attended but actually didn't, " Mr Morton said.
.
• Huang says in his testimony he graduated from St John's University in New York with a Master's, majoring in Japanese. Sportingintelligence requested confirmation of this on 16 August from the relevant official body in the USA, and is awaiting a reply. If Huang did obtain a Master's at Columbia, his timeline of education during his testimony is misleading. As and when confirmation is available, it will be updated here.
.
• Elsewhere in the testimony, Huang also says he was voted the No1 philanthropist in China in 2009. This may be the case, but despite repeated requests, no spokesperson can point to any evidence of this. It may indeed exist, but we have been unable to locate it independently. But Huang is not listed anywhere on the 2009 Hurun Philanthropy list, which comprises the top 100 philanthropists in China by volume of donations in 2009.
.
• Huang claims he was "well known in China" at a period in 2002 when he was asked to travel there on behalf of a US-based company. But established figures in business and sporting circles in China insist Kenny Huang was not well known in China at that time. Huang says he was associated with the Houston Rockets and Yao Ming but he merits no mention in Yao's autobiography, which details a long cast of people who helped Yao move from China to the USA in 2002.
.
Within the Chinese media, there is incredulity about Huang's involvement in any Liverpool bid. Yan Qiang, also known by his anglicised name of John Yan, is the vice-president of Titan Sports, China's most prominent and authoritative sports newspaper. Yan is a respected commentator on sport and sports business in China, and a regular contributor to the Chinese edition of the FT, as when writing here earlier this month on Huang and Liverpool.
"Kenny Huang only made his name and came to most people's attention in China for the first time in 2009 when he was linked to the proposal for the Cavaliers, " Yan told sportingintelligence today. "Certainly I had never heard of him before then, and he has no track record in sport in China before then.
"Ever since the story broke that he wanted to purchase Liverpool, the reaction from China's sports marketing industry has been the same: nobody trusted it. In most people's view, he didn't seem to be a serious businessman in this industry; and a lot of people don't think that he knows much about sports business.
"His own claim as the minority owner of the NBA franchise Cleveland Cavaliers has long been denied; NBA China has been telling all media that Huang was not the buyer, and the negotiation was not serious enough.
"There is a serious question mark over his intention to buy LFC. Everyone knows that managing a professional football club, from a purely investment point of view, would not be sound business. The claims that CIC or another sovereign fund's involvement are rootless. But at least Huang got huge publicity, because all Chinese media has been following up this news."
Sportingintelligence has asked dozens of questions about Kenny Huang's background and business dealings over the past two weeks to Kenny Huang, and / or to Hill & Knowlton on his behalf, to Huang's Florida lawyer about the disputed claims in his testimony, and to Huang's Chicago-based business partner, Marc Ganis. The vast majority remain unanswered.

{Editor's Note: Hopefully we can now put the Huang nonsense to rest.}

Liverpool Rumours
I think we should sell Mascherano and Kuyt and sign a decent winger, a striker, Konchesky(not my 1st choice but looks a cert) and Newcastles Steven Taylor(Transfer Listed). We could then play Agger as a holding midfielder as he is good on the ball and good defensively also an extra defender in the box for corners and freekicks at both ends.

They call me Cuban Pete. . . .

Liverpool Rumours
Ed or anyone willing to offer and answer, are Liverpool not in desperate need of the following;

{Editor's Note: Two things. The rules are different this year with the squad restrictions - so we needed to take a look at the balance and consider the cover we already have. Secondly, with a new manager in place don't expect like-for-like replacements. No doubt many others will have an opinion.}

Liverpool Rumours
When asked whether he was interested in David Trezeguet, Mario Gomez and Carlton Cole, Woy stated ""None of those players are likely to be playing for Liverpool this season." In the same interview he said that he was not interested in Turan either.
I for one am delighted we're not getting Cole or Trezeguet but can we find some new strikers/ wingers to make up transfer rumours about please? Personally, I have a feeling that Woy will blow his entire summer budget on Young (and make me a happy LFC supporter).
Do you think there will be any more transfers before the deadline, Ed, or is it too late in the day now?
YNWA

{Editor's Note: Any late bid for a player who a club do not wish to sell will attract a significant premium and we are not in that business. However, there may be one more in if Kuyt leaves.}

Barca are clearly looking to sell Zlatan. . so why not swap Mascherano for Zlatan and cash? Sure Zlatan hasn't been great for Barca since joining them but with his size and skill he would be a great companion for Nando up top.

Morning Ed
From what I've seen and read it looks like Barca and Inter will get into a bidding war over Mascherano and we should hopefully get around £20mill for him and I wouldn't be to bothered if Kuyt left if we got £10-£15Mill for him. I would hope that Woy wouldn't leave the buys to the very last minute so have you heard who the replacements are likely to be?

{Editor's Note: I think much depends how he intends to use Joe Cole as to whether he goes for a wide player or a striker.}

'talk about the pot calling the kettle black'. .we all at some point must have heard this saying.

it makes me laugh when woy says rafa has an agreement that he would not poach any liverpool players, with kuyt and mascherano constantly linked with inter. and as the another saying goes 'there's no smoke without fire', rafa is defo sniffing around.

however all this coming from a fella who has a 'gentlemens agreement' with Al fayed that he'll not sign any fulham players, as we're linked with konchesky to name but one!

now don't get me wrong, i'm not having a go at woy (or rafa for that matter) i'm simply pointing out that in this day and age you have to pragmatic and above all realistic.

if rafa offers say £10-12m for kuyt, as a club we've got to think that is a good deal for a player who is 31 next. he has served us tremendously over the last 4 years and if there is an inkling of he wants to go then he should be allowed to, not cause we should bow to his wishes but because it makes sense.

that money should be used immediately by woy to buy say ashley young (who i think would jump at the chance) for £15m ish, who is 23 i think, fast and out'n'out winger as opposed to a right sided attacking forward. if one thing came out of the defeat at city was that we lacked a fast wide man. an for me ash young is one of the best out there.

as for the masch situation, again be realistic and get £20m in, give it woy and let him buy/ loan a LB, another winger and a striker.

personally if he's going back to fulham i'd get zamora who over this last 12 months has looked awesome.
or huntelaar, mario gomez, toivanen - any one of these will be good.

Lb - v difficult. but if i had to stick my neck out there i'd try and nick gibbs from arse, even if it took a £10m bid. only 20 and looks awesome and with clichy in his way - you never know.

winger - already mentioned ashley young, but downing would also fit the bill. witht the uncertainty around VP might be worth a double punt.

other than that i think we all need to be a little patient.
woy has only just got there, it will take time for his methods to filter down and gel.
don't forget this bunch of lads have been drilled a certain way for the last 4-5 years - you can't change that in a few matches. but i have seen glimpses in the last 3-4 games (even the defeat!)to give me hope and encouragement for the future.

as for the ownership palarva. .me thinks its in the bag and we are just going through the final waiting stages. i'm not sure that it will get done in time for 31st, but if it isn't we've just gotta get behind the lads the best we can till it has

Mash will go surely so we need a good player who can do his job. M.diarra was a gud player when realmadrid was coaching by capello. Bt how he is now is a real concern for ous. I will prefer gago rather than him. He is young and can do job. No don't want C Cole becoz he is always having fitnes problems. So its a risk. I think toivonen is the best option. May b podolski otherwise. His price may b high. Bt just try.He may b a failure in clubs. Bt i think he can do wel in PL.
Wat u think ed?
