Hi ed002,

Is there any update on the situation with Brandt? I've read the posts and listened to the sharkopod as well. Would just like to know whether any progress has been made since your last update. Thank you.

Valent.

Believable6 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware of Valent. What we know is that Kipperty has the Klops for Brandt and Brandt would be keen on a move but doesn';t want to be starting from the Bench each week. The solution is a discussion and that can happen when Liverpool get the Amex out. Right now we appear to be where we were.}

25 may 2017 23:47:26
klopp is going to rack up some avios points from that purchase.

How would Brandt be starting from the bench each week? Klopp wants to play Coutinho in midfield role right? So Brandt would slot in the left forward role that Coutinho took up last season.

Obviously transfers take time and this is one that will probably drag out a bit, I feel like it's something to do with the demands. If I'm not mistaken a lot of players try to force first team football on their contracts so if the player is not injured he has to play. I think that might be happening with can as well, but I'm probably completely wrong. Otherwise I can't see what should hold up the deal other than how much brandt is priced at.

@Kman

Hm, wages/ bonuses? Signing on fee? Agent fee? Any of these could hold up a player signing a contract? Not just playtime promises.

Couts in CM is not set in stone yet and this is why Brandt needs the assurances that this will be the case, Ramkish.

Hey eds I know we have been linked with a million and 1 players but how many new faces are expected to arrive as I would love the club to add 2-3 of the highest quality players and promote from within rather than sign 6-7 decent players . Most needed areas are full backs and and left wing for me . I know you can't say it will be this amount or that amount more wanted to know the areas of priority really . Thanks guys.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed025's Note - 2 full backs and a wide player are the priority we are hearing Dhfc, ED002 has outlined the players liverpool are looking at but of course this may change if deals cannot be done, there will be a back up list but the priorities wont change mate..

25 May 2017 21:02:44
Cheers ed
Really hope the club gets it right this year as I really think we could push on and compete with the likes of Chelsea spurs and city for the league next year also would love to see Wilson getting some game time to me he could be a major player 👌🏻.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I think there will be a significant push from both Manchester sides as well.}

25 May 2017 21:12:56
Agree with that but don't want to think about Utd doing well. mourinho will spend big as always but I think city could be the team to beat next year.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - chelsea will take some stopping in my view Dhfc, they have a very good squad already and roman will no doubt bankroll another couple of worldies too, city for me will have to rebuild and it will take a bit more time but im sure they will be right in the mix mate..

25 May 2017 22:23:21
Chelsea will struggle to make top 4 next season Ed25.

Agree2 Disagree8

{Ed025's Note - thats wishful thinking on your part i think ace, i expect them to win the league again as they have the best players and a very good manager, not to mention a very rich owner mate..

26 May 2017 10:06:27
Chelsea will win the BPL next season as well imo. City have big rebuilding job at the back and Utd are more obsessed with signing household names than players they actually need.

Agree3 Disagree1

26 May 2017 10:54:13
Next year Chelsea will have also European Football and will also need a larger squad than the 14 players Conte was using this season but in general they are a team with an excellent spine clear roles in the field. Hope Hazard goes to Real it will be a big blow i think.

Ed I'm having no joy on a phone searching for the targets ed02 has highlighted, is there a link as I suspect a lot are having the same problem and then keep asking the same question. The search parameters are too big and common I guess. Ed02 has a lot of posts. Lol.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - try the Sharkopods.}

26 May 2017 12:44:29
They also have 2/ 3 extra players in Kante.

Are these rumours of Rodgers wanting Wilson north of the wall?

i don't think that would be a bad move for him if he was going to get some game time up there!

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Celtic asked about a loan and were told no. They could potentially come back and ask for a sale. Right now the youngsters do seem to be out of the equation at Liverpool even though they are well thought of.}

26 May 2017 00:34:56
Surprised we turned down a loan - a year at Celtic would seem to be perfect step in his development.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed007's Note - Could he handle the step up though? It's a big jump from Liverpool to a team expected to win every game and pick up trophies ;) (giggle)

26 May 2017 09:05:09
I didn't know liverpool and brendan rodgers were going to take part in Game of thrones, if that is going to be the case, GO WHITEWALKERS!

Hi Eds

Is there any players we are currently looking at on free transfers? I only ask as I seen the City are releasing Zabaleta and Clichy. Now I know signing on fees and wages are a mine field with free transfers but just wondering with the young left back from Fulham and Alexandre Arnold potentially looking like or future full backs if all goes well, would bringing someone like that as short term options be more viable? I thought Kolo done an ok job when he came in and I know he made mistakes but from what I hear his experience was invaluable in the dressing room. I don't know the financial situation with deals like that, it's just something I've wondered from time to time when I've seen teams pick up a 30+ player that looks finished on a free and they've turned in another good year or two at another club.

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed025's Note - not as far as i am aware john, im not sure how the supporters would look upon a "freebie"as the majority like to see high profile signings, ED002 has outlined liverpools preferred targets which can be found on the search function but none of them are free agents mate..

25 May 2017 20:22:28
Matip wasn't a bad freebie.

Freebies are ok as long as there not players just trying to get another year with high wages before they retire.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2017 20:26:30
I know it's a different position but isn't Jesus Navas available on a free? I know he's not set city on fire, but I bet Klopp could use him as a cog in the attack if he's prepared to be a squad player.

Agree6 Disagree11

25 May 2017 20:39:18
Thanks for the reply Ed,

Matip was a good freebie, probably our best since Gary Mac, although that's of the top of my head. Epic has a point in Navas, and agree with you Ed in the fact most supporters never get excited over a free transfer. Just my personal opinion that if we could get somebody in with experience of winning leagues or European trophies it could help the young squad we have. I honestly think Gary Mac's experience helped us win the treble.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - there will be a few good ones out there john but im sure klopp has his own ideas on who he wants to bring in mate..

25 May 2017 21:33:44
If we do get another "free" transfer signing, they can't do any worse than Joe Cole.

Agree7 Disagree0

25 May 2017 21:41:28
Navas? Really?!

His crossing is really poo and he's been poor for a while now.

Agree5 Disagree2

25 May 2017 21:46:41
Joe Cole was terrible, as was Voronin, Degan, Jovanovic, among others. But Gary Mac, Jari Litmenan, Marcus Babbel, Robbie Fowler, Bellamy, Aurelio, Staunton, Maxi Rodrigues and James Milner all had good spells. It really is a hit and miss subject I think, I mean I think I like many others thought Zlatan would struggle coming to the premier league at his age and never having a great record against English clubs but unfortunately for us he was great. But I just think with us fighting on 4 fronts next season and our squad lacking numbers and experience in Europe then it could be an option, just my opinion that's all.

Agree9 Disagree0

25 May 2017 21:49:14
I agree Smallsy but he hasn't always been cack. Remember we bought Coutinho because he wasn't performing at Inter. Some Soanish team is going to pick him up, rebuild his confidence, get him back to the player he was and he'll leave them at the end of the season for another hefty fee. I just think he'd be worth a go for us on a free with some good support.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 May 2017 09:09:16
Believe Navas will be looking to return to Spain so probably not interested. Would be a squad player blocking progress of e. g. Ojo. Would rather keep Markovic.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - we would have to be mad to sign Navas, terrible player.}

26 May 2017 10:07:48
Kolasinac is the only worthwhile free agent that comes to mind that would have actually improved our team this season. Cannot think of anyone that would improve us from the freebies available this summer.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2017 10:38:33
If Sessegnon was to be loaned back to Fulham for the year, taking Clichy on a year long deal would not be a bad idea at all. Zabaletta and Navas would just be unused players on stupid wages and a waste of club resources. Clichy would actually get used and improve our defence, especially in depth if a preferred starting LB was signed aswell.

Agree1 Disagree1

26 May 2017 10:59:08
Clichy and Navas - have you not watched them play! I wouldn't even sign them for Everton!

Agree0 Disagree0

26 May 2017 17:41:54
They are both awful and won't improve us. let us focus our energy on actually getting a true RB and LB instead of all these sop gap measures that only prolong the problem.

Any interest in kev Stewart?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

25 May 2017 19:01:41
From what i hear there has been a few enquiries from a number of premier league and championship clubs, however quite a few aren't keen on entertaining the idea of the £10m price tag put on him.

Brighton seem the most keen but we shall see if liverpool lower their valuation!

Agree2 Disagree0

25 May 2017 19:12:10
£10m?! I'd accept that offer with a decimal point in the middle seriously. He is so average.

Agree3 Disagree9

25 May 2017 19:43:39
he is worth more than £1m, i would say more the £5/ 6m range, however he is young (ish) and english so who knows. plus think we managed to get 15 million for ibe and 6 for smith which was mad in itself.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 May 2017 19:57:51
He'll go for 2-3 million IMO.

Agree2 Disagree0

25 May 2017 23:25:53
I'd say 6.23m imo.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 May 2017 23:28:17
Brad Smith went for 6 million pounds. I suspect Stewart would go for around the same if to a PL side.
