Hey eds,
I know there was potential talk of barca offering a fee plus sanchez for suarez. Is this still the case, or was it ever?
Cheers

Believable10 Unbelievable15

{Ed001's Note - not to my knowledge was it ever the case.}

Hey, had mate trying to convince me that are seriously looking at Fraser Forster, not convinced personally but I do prefer him to mignolet so would be happy if it was true, any thoughts on it?

Believable10 Unbelievable44

Forster is a top top keeper. Doubt he would leave Celtic unless guaranteed first team ball.

Agree0 Disagree0

I know my tag name makes me look biased. BUT.

Forster has plenty of attributes that could make him a great keeper, the only issue I have with him is his reluctance to command his area when crosses are coming in. If he could conquer that then he would be top class.

Ed002, I'm glad to hear Moreno didn't bite anyone yesterday, but is there any news regarding a transfer to Liverpool or any other team? Cheers

Believable3 Unbelievable7

{Ed002's Note - Nope.}

Hi Eds, I've been quite impressed with Rojo, are we definitely not interested any more or is there a chance with the Moreno problems we could go back in for him?

Believable4 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - His agent is in the midst of negotiating a move elsewhere.}

With Swansea signing Gomis, do you know what is happening with Bony? Could we be interested if LS is as expected sold?

Believable2 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - they are hoping to keep him, I don't know of any interest from us.}

Eds

Big Phil Thompson has made a big bold statement this morning regarding a certain Alexis Sanchez and that a deal is in place and all but done.

Can you expand on this?. You have been quite the politician with anything regarding Sanchez recently. I get the impression you know more than you are willing to share Eds

Rather than get mixed up in a Suarez / player / swop / cash deal scenario

Are we likely to see Sanchez in the famous red come August Eds?

Thank you in advance :)

Believable27 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - all I know about Sanchez is that he does not get on with Messi, so Barca have been willing to move him on for a while. In previous years he has rejected the opportunity to move on, in order to stay and fight for his place. This year he has accepted that he is fighting a losing battle, and that Barca need to sell him to raise funds to buy players now, as they won't be able to buy anyone for a couple of windows afterwards.

As such, he has been offered to clubs in Europe, with a high amount of initial interest, but most clubs were put off by the asking price. Juventus have continued to try and strike a deal, but have not managed to reach an agreement with Barca. Last I heard, a couple of days ago now, we had not made Barca any offer for him. I don't know if that has changed since then, I do know that his availability is still there, as Man City have shown interest, which was not rebuffed, today.}

So we can discount what PT has come out with live on radio this morning?

Would Sanchez come to LFC eds?

Agree2 Disagree0

I think we are after Sanchez. He fits BR's player type profile so much.

Regardless of whether it's true or not it's a strange thing to claim. If true PT has no business making it public, if false he looses credibility going forward as an expert commentator.

That aside, for me this would be an awesome signing and definitely be worthy of the label 'star signing'. Of all the offensive minded players we've been linked with, he's the player I would favor the most to play for us. Suarez, Sterling, Sturridge, Sanchez - frightening!

But, I'll see it to believe it.

Phil Thompson said on an Irish Breakfast show this morning: "Even just yesterday I had things from people, newspaper guys with their ear very close to the ground at Liverpool, saying that the Sanchez deal is actually done".

Believable44 Unbelievable35

I was just about to post the same thing jok. Why would ge say that though? Thete must be some truth in it. Is Tommo reliable Ed or nothing new?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know who he has spoken to, of himself, no he has no involvement in that area, but he could well have spoken to someone who does. He certainly is still very closely connected to figures within Anfield (though I am not sure God has forgiven him yet!), so it is possible he knows something. From what I am hearing on the Barca end though, no deal is done as they are still trying to find a buyer for him. Could be they are just keeping their options open in case they get a better offer though. It certainly would not be unusual for a gazumping to happen, so they might well be just hoping for that to maximise their return on him.}

Thank you for indepth reply Ed

I hope there is some truth in it, although I understand there are other things to sort out first.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - everyone knows I would love us to sign him, so I am hoping Thommo has been talking to the right people!}

If it's as simple as paying a fee, then I'm sure FSG would see Alexis as a viable option, ESPECIALLY if Suarez moved on, possibly even to Barcelona. I would think they would be willing to do business, given the fact that they can't buy big in the next few windows and Suarez is certainly the biggest transfer anyone COULD make at this time. The questions have to be our valuation of Suarez versus Sanchez, and how willing the latter would want to make a move to England.

Personally, I think he could be a twenty goal scorer and whether Suarez goes or not we should at least TRY. IMO, Sanchez > Shaqiri > Lallana, though I'd honestly be happy with any of them at whatever price.

Agree1 Disagree2

Youre not alone ed001, I love the player when he was at Udinese. Not the same player at Barca, but I guess he was given a different role there.

Agree1 Disagree0

Phil Thompson has been unreliable about Liverpool transfers in the past or was it Aldridge

Hi Eds

Away from all the usual stuff.

Some reports say that we have approached Athletico about taking Alderweireld this summer. Any truth?

Believable11 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - I don't know of any approach from us.}

Hi Eds, just wondering if we have any interest in Asmir Begovic? Thanks for your work.

Believable2 Unbelievable10

{Ed001's Note - we did before we bought Migs.}
