Several media outlets reporting lovren fee has been agreed. Any truth Ed002?
{Ed002's Note - A fee has been agreed.}
25 Jul 2014 20:11:21
3 people find this unbelievable so far? I mean come on!
Really great news!
I will be super excited if he should join us. I thought he would but be on and off so much according to media that was worried it wouldn't go through.
I think he will be worth every penny
Great stuff!
25 Jul 2014 21:05:18
Cheers ed. Hope we can put this rumour to rest now!
26 Jul 2014 07:17:40
Thanks Ed002
Brilliant news!
Lovren and Lallana and Lambert!
The first two you would think will start the first game of the season and Lambert hopefully gets plenty of opportunities either alongside or replacing Sturridge.
I'm sure Lallana is going to be a huge success as his playing style, attitude and ability fits perfectly with what BR wants and Lovren next to Sakho is a great pairing.
Great news, hopefully that was the main stumbling block and personal terms will be easier? It's a shame Lallana got injured but those injuries need time to heal.
{Ed001's Note - he is desperate to join us, so I doubt personal terms will be a problem.}
It's nice to see a player saying openly he'd like to join us and doing his best to do so!
Very happy with this signing!
Cheers for the reply Ed. When a player says his head is already in Liverpool you'd bloody hope that the personal terms would be easy, so excited to have him lead the defence, quality signing and I reckon the most important so far!
25 Jul 2014 15:57:55
Eds, Just a quick one. Any interest in Mathieu Valbuena? From anyone?
{Ed002's Note - Seville, Zenit, Arsenal and Newcastle have enquired about Valbuena's availability but it is Valencia, QPR and Fiorentina who have made offers for the player - and a chance remains of a player-exchange with Valencia. Marseille are willing to sell this summer and have Batshuayi as a replacement.}

Liverpool echo reporting Liverpool have agreed a fee of £20 million with southampton for Dejan Lovren. Any truth eds?
{Ed001's Note - yes, I already said this days ago, he asked for the move to go through so the clubs reopened negotiations.}
25 Jul 2014 20:18:29
Thanks ed001. Must have missed it a few days ago.
25 Jul 2014 14:32:55
Hi eds. Is there any news on the potential javier manquillo signing? Thanks in advance for your response.
{Ed001's Note - last I heard it was close. But with our medicals close could mean a week away, even if there are no issues!}
Makes you wonder how we do last minute / closing day of transfer market deals with the length of time for medicals - not complaining just an observation.
Simples. Time paradox of course.
The age old ''time is linear/non-linear we just experience it as linear'' debate rumbles on.
Next time it's epistemology folks, I think. stay tuned for that one, if you are tuned at all.? :D

Ed has Liverpool put in a bid for Xherdan Shaqiri as reported today in the media?
{Ed001's Note - I don't believe so no.}
25 Jul 2014 17:05:40
20m deal agreed for lovren medical tomorrow says James Pearce.
25 Jul 2014 17:02:44
Ed's two posts today haven't been posted.
Lille manager has just confirmed that Origi to Liverpool is done and that Origi will be staying at Lille on loan for this season.
25 Jul 2014 18:34:06
He's confirmed it?
25 Jul 2014 16:55:04
Lovren set for Liverpool medical tomorrow.
25 Jul 2014 16:47:01
Origi is in USA now having medical and Lovren will undergo medical over weekend. Remy deal stalled due to paperwork but should be completed early next week.
Rumours re Gaitan and Shaqiri are wide of the mark.
No progress on LB - talks ongoing with 2 players.
No new GK til Reina leaves.
Manquillo deal should be soon.
It's all great work so far. Another 2 great signings for now and future and (from what I've read) Manquillo looks a great signing providing there aren't too many recall clauses.

Hi eds I was just wondering apparently loic remy was set to be announced yesterday and obviously due to time difference could this be down to announcement or has something stalled the deal? Thanks for your hard work gu
{Ed001's Note - medicals take time that is all it is.}

I'm sure Eds are already fielding requests for information on the following players, but I'll try to summarize the best of today's links:
Shaqiri on again
-Probably because he denied giving such and such interview. I consider it VERY unlikely that he'd switch for less than 20 million pounds (as the online newspapers are quoting), though I actually would love the player in our side.
Negotiations w/ Benfica for Gaitan
-I consider it unlikely we would pay 50 million pounds to Benfica in this transfer window, but I've read Ed001 is getting more information so who knows? Heard good things (and that we were interested) in the past so I'd be intrigued to find out more.
Onazi linked from Lazio
-Out of his mouth he is fully focused on Lazio. Doubtful, considering Lucas hasn't moved on (unless that is in the works, perhaps to Italy as well), but he does fit the profile of a young (21), talented potentially top class player that wouldn't cost too awful much and could fill out the squad right now. Can't be more wages than Lucas surely?
Reina out
-Rodgers sure isn't mincing his words where Reina is regarded. Sounds like BR is going to watch him closely and hope a solid bid comes in. I honestly can't see a replacement, and Jones isn't someone I rate too highly, so I hope he stays. Surely they can learn to coexist (or not). Reina is quoted by ssn as saying he's staying for now but wants to end his career in Spain. Considering he still has a few years left, I'd suspect he'll be here this season and out next.
Lovren update
-29 million euros. I know the Eds love talking money ;)
25 Jul 2014 19:16:37
Why would we be paying in euros?
Because it's exotic to pay in euros.
Love Reina t be honest, he could b very useful in Mignolet's development.
It was reported by a Croatian newspaper, and the figure was 29 million euros -- 20 million pounds. I overlooked the obvious error, but the "update" was born from fact. =)
Reina can be a stable deputy/occasional hero this year. I think it's good for a player's concentration to not always play 60 games a season. If Reina could get 20 games he could get a shutout in 12 or more.
Mignolet should remain the starter. I think he will still, despite Reina's best efforts, remain the starter. He's still growing as a player, but his athleticism is unparalleled and, if he can take a few pointers in distributing the ball from Reina.

Liverpool make a £14.2m bid for Bayern Munich winger Xherdan Shaqiri.
According to reports, the Reds have made a £14.2m bid for the want-away winger.
Swiss newspaper Blick claim that the Reds are now the favourites to sign the highly coveted winger, who has attracted interest from Juventus and Roma this summer.
25 Jul 2014 16:10:06
Would love it to be true, but didn't the eds confirm that our interest was over after the signing of Markovic?
I take it Shaqiri will be the wigwam signing everyones after.
Probably a recycled story. Had a search and our interest seems to have been before we'd signed Lallana and Markovic unless someone else is leaving and by that I mean PipCo or Raheem both of which would be incredibly unlikely this season although not impossible I guess.
25 Jul 2014 16:45:40
Seems specific amount of money to be rubbishe.
Does anyone know if Blick are a reputable source, or are they the Swiss equivalent of The Express?
Would be a great signing if true but I won't get my hopes up just yet.
"Seems specific amount of money to be rubbishe."
Lol, yes, that's exactly what the guy who made up this story thought when he came up with the amount.
If the rumor about Gaitan is true then why we will bid for Shaqiri as well?
Coutinho, Sterling, Lallana, Markovic all fighting for 2 places on the wings. Why are we looking to buy another winger? I reckon it's lazy tabloids!
25 Jul 2014 14:18:55
Swis Newspaper Blick claims Liverpool have tabled an 15 mill offer for Shaquiri.
Something for the weekend.
25 Jul 2014 09:24:50
I'm hearing Gaitan being linked with a 30m move, talks have started, eds, is this just a rumour?
{Ed001's Note - I am still trying to find out, thought I had best answer one though while I wait for a definitive reply as it is taking so long to hear back. Last I heard there was no interest, but that was weeks ago now.}
Out of interest Ed01 what is your opinion on him as a player, regardless of whether we need him, do you rate him?
{Ed001's Note - not seen a lot of him to be honest.}
25 Jul 2014 16:14:15
Would be extremely excited but aren't we overloaded in that area now? Unless maybe BR is planning to play a 0-10-0 formation? Now that could have worked against Chelsea at Anfield last season!
25 Jul 2014 14:56:09
I have seen those rumours, too. I haven't seen a lot of him so could you make a short review of his game ed (his good and bad sides of game)? I see he is attacking midfielder so I wonder if we really do need him since we have Coutinho, Lallana and Suso for that position with Markovič and Sterling, who can play there, too.
25 Jul 2014 15:15:10
Sound Ed. I've asked same question so just ignore it now.
Forget it - he's going to Monaco.
I've seen a fair bit of him.
As a player, technically he is very good. Very good skill-better than anyone at the club at the moment, including Lallana, Sterling and Countinho-, and will take players on for fun. He has a low center of gravity so he is very good at changing direction and leaving defenders with turns and then quick acceleration, but he isn't the fastest in a straight line. Think a more developed version of Countinho's game, excellent passing with good vision, takes players on more with more skills, fantastic first touch, but also can cross the ball very, very well. In the box, he is generally clinical and picks the right time to shoot, but he lacks power on a lot of his shots so doesn't shoot from range. He might just get double figures for goals in the Prem if starting regularly. My worry would be that he would be a bit lightweight for the Premier League. While he can use his head, he does get out-muscled easily and is shorter than most midfielders. That said, as a good comparison, Silva has done well with City, and Gaitan is a very, very similar player, but makes more long runs-not quite box to box, but definitely driving the team forwards. He would fit Liverpool's system perfectly, and IMO would be worth 30m. He is definitely a better player than Lallana, and has the potential to be truly world class, although he will be at his peak probably next season. The question is whether we could accommodate another midfielder.
25 Jul 2014 09:42:01
Mornin Eds,
Is it true that Atletico are trying to beat us to signing Origi? Any reason to worry?
Thanks!
{Ed001's Note - yes and no idea. I don't know what they are offering, just that they are interested.}
I thought Origi was supposedly in America having a medical with us as he has already agreed terms and we had agreed to let him stay at Lille for the season?
25 Jul 2014 14:08:53
apparently LFC have bid £14.2 mil for shaquiri
