Ed002, heard from a man on the street Newcastle have come in with a bid or started more negotiations with lfc for Nat Phillips, anything in this of late or still pretty cold?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Nathaniel Phillips (CB) West Ham interest remains and an enquiry has been made by Brighton who are seeking a CB addition in January. Perhaps a consideration for Newcastle but certainly not first choice. Watford offer an option. If not over-priced he should get a move.}

25 Jan 2022 20:10:57
Good luck to him if he does go. Played a massive part in our recovery last season. Absolute warrior of a player.

Agree11 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 22:36:37
Would love to see him at Brighton, well run club, good position, and under the radar enough he won't be under too much pressure.

Think he could do a job at most places to be fair but worry he would be a stop gap at Newcastle until they can buy a £50m CB.

If there is 1 player I would like to do well in his career after leaving liverpool its nat Phillips. Gives u 100% every game and would head an aeroplane if need be. A very underrated player imo in2 bargain as well.

26 Jan 2022 00:26:43
Whoever gets him is getting a solid reliable defender and a leader. If Michael Keane can play for England so can he. Mind you, if Phil Neville can play for England so can I.

26 Jan 2022 11:39:33
Give Brighton Phillips as a down payment for bissouma in the summer 😉.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Matip would be better, suit their way of playing and be good to get rid of his obscene wages and not good enough defensive play.}

26 Jan 2022 12:20:16
Will be sold last day of the window, we won't see the funds and FSG get another profit window, same sh? t different window, can't wait for the big summer that is being promised yet again, is that 6/ 7 windows now it's been coming?

Agree3 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 12:47:46
Who promised a big summer of transfers?

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 13:24:08
His mother.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 14:39:17
Ed1 In your opinion why does Klopp keep playing Matip? And who would you like to see next to Virgil, Konate or Gomez? I like both but think Konate is more than ready to for a partnership with Virgil.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he likes him there, I just don't know why. I would go with Konate personally to try and get them developing a partnership.}

{Ed001's Note - childish idiot, go play on the motorway and do us all a favour.}

26 Jan 2022 15:12:01
In fairness the club never promised a big summer. If we pocket the money now, I’d rather not spend it until later as there’s absolutely no value in the winter market, and what with Salah, Mane and Keita coming back from AFCON, Elliott and Thiago back from injury, and Fabinho returning to some good form I think we can wait, better to keep what we have than waste money on players who won’t improve the side and will likely be hard to get rid of.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 16:10:33
100% VVVV. Unless it's a player that was earmarked for the summer and becomes available.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 16:36:23
There's a few articles out there where the talk is (usually comes from Werner not Henry) read one yesterday that we have big moves coming up that we haven't seen since 2018, normally comes out in the winter window, then we'll get to summer and contract renewals will be used for excuses as why we can't spend or some other excuse, most probably we will get funds from the Salah sale, which of course we know is coming, if the club can disrespect the worlds best player then how can we expect them to sign a top class talent on big wages to replace him, i don't know.

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 18:50:23
What if Salah wants to go? What then Lancaster? He said he had unfinished business when he signed didn't he? Well he has nothing left to prove in English football so maybe he fancies a new challenge elsewhere.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 19:01:57
Lancaster, any links to these articles? Only stuff I saw was FSG buying the Pittsburgh Penguins and Werner getting engaged.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 20:09:30
Totally agree Eds1 Konate should be given time with vvd. May help vvd also.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 20:12:27
So to sum all that up, after reading an article on an obscure unnamed website we are now going to let Salah go after disrespecting him, then we won't attract top class talent.

Quite a leap.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 20:24:10
I’ve seen these articles, one was by a top guy at the echo and the other one I saw was from the same guy that broke the super league joke.

It is a reoccurring pattern though the FSG spin machine of a transfer “war chest” then nothing and a resigning of a top player on a new contract.

Lancaster you are right and I think more people are starting to see it.

Agree1 Disagree0

27 Jan 2022 08:30:14
Hope so @Always, building a stand deflects some peoples eyes away from the fact the squad is being overlooked like usual, i will never deny the good FSG have done, but their limit has been reached and we are losing out, but seems only one website can be believed on here, had it before from propbably the same posters that anything anywhere else is rubbish.

Agree0 Disagree0

27 Jan 2022 10:38:14
I'd be interested to see these articles were Werner himself has promised to spend big or is it just the typical Echo journo giving his opinion saying we will as usual? I had a look on the Echo website and then gave up after trying to close 234 adverts that kept popping up.

Hi Ed002

With Tottenham Hotspur reportedly making a bid for Luis Diaz, could you now see Liverpool making a move for the player, this window?

Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, the requirements that need to be met to have the chance of buying him are clear. Outside chance of a proposal from another side still. I suspect if he is still there in the summer then LIverpool might look to do something.}

25 Jan 2022 16:11:47
Thank you.

25 Jan 2022 18:30:00
Take him off the list so.

25 Jan 2022 18:31:57
Quality player but his price is out of budget. Will be a good addition good addition to any side and looks like he is going to Spurs.

25 Jan 2022 18:50:30
Spurs bid = meltdown on here.

Agree5 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 17:02:54
What value have Porto set for Diaz Ed002, do you know?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - His buy out cluase - which is €80M in a single payment. They do not wish to sell so that is what the interested clubs will be referred to - A good offer somewhere near may be of interest and may just be coming.}

25 Jan 2022 18:57:41
He’s out of our budget? We don’t have a budget we’ve no money! We’ve not sold anyone to purchase or bid for him or anyone 🥴.

Agree5 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 20:05:59
My 12 year old has more budget on his Go Henry card than the Liverpool owners.

Agree5 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - what’s a Go Henry card?

25 Jan 2022 20:15:33
Surely he wouldn't go spurs!

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 20:23:05
Don't believe everything you hear or read. Ed002 has stated €80m is the release clause so why on earth would they sell him this month for considerably less, especially as they don't want to lose him right now?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 20:24:31
confirmed spurs offer and we can scratch that one off the list! they have spent abut 250million more than us in three seasons have no idea where this money is coming from much like arsenal they aren't in champions league and won't be for a while! . and with C.V. who knows why they both have so much money despite buying players like pepe based on getting back in europe which they haven't done.

Agree7 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 20:41:12
Offer might be confirmed but its considerably less than the release clause.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 20:48:03
Ed0666 its like a bank card for under 16s. You can link it to your bank and put money on it and track how its spent. Gives younger teenagers thier first taste of using bank cards etc.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - thanks mate. Well in that case your kids got more cash than FSG

25 Jan 2022 21:38:43
money well spent in north london I see . . .

25 Jan 2022 22:15:17
Spurts can't offer consistent CL football so no way.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 23:09:47
Our club is pretty good on the pitch at the mo but our transfer potential is absolutely last. LFC couldn’t afford a blozzer off a Shiel Rd lady of the night currently.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 22:05:33
Thank you Ed002, hopefully he will still be about in summer if we are still interested! let's hope Levy stays tight loo.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 01:12:47
Didn’t we allegedly spend nearly £40m on a relatively untried youngster on the last transfer window? I ask because there is a lot of stuff on here (particularly when there is not much else to complain about) about how Liverpool have no money. I’d live to know where people get their facts from.

Love the posts about the clubs who spend more money than us (in this thread Spurs and £250m 😁) and never win anything - makes you think about wasting money eh? and sort of validates what LFC are actually doing perhaps?

Agree4 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 09:16:34
There were a few articles saying Diaz is going to be Edwards final gift. Is 66m too much? It wasn't with VVD and Ali.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The situation is very different.}

26 Jan 2022 10:22:55
Can Edwards buy us a player out of his own pocket and gift him to the club?

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 14:13:18
If FSG are unwilling to commit funds for JK's last 2.5 seasons, they are insane.
We need a couple of VVD/ Ali level signings to come and take us up a notch.
Diaz is surely one of those players, he looks unbelievable, unplayable at times.
IF we got him now, our chances of winning CL/ EPL go up.
I'd also be interested in the French CB at Seville, after selling Nat and JoGo. He can play RB, in a 3 and looks to be top drawer.

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 14:19:51
Surely he won't want to sign for spurs? can't see it imo. Thoughts?

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 11:29:06
Hi Eds, any truth about Araujo interest, i find it hard ti bekieve as we seem to have more CB than every other position combines, just wanted your thoughts.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Not from Liverpool, but another PL side have spoken with his agent and another PL have held a conversation with Barcelona.}

25 Jan 2022 08:12:09
I assume a few on here follow lfc transfer twitter rumours? Latest BS I read last night. "Klopp has asked FSG can they get him Declan Rice" 😂.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

25 Jan 2022 09:32:00
I don't think we can even afford Uncle Bens Rice.

Agree20 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 10:52:53
Probably a translation mix up. Klopp asked FSG if they could get him an extra large rice for the takeaway.

Sadly the extra large rice went outside of the FSG financial model.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 12:04:09
Lmao at uncle bens rice!

Uncle bens rice and a packet of walkers crisps. Granted, not a great combo, but beggars can't be choosers.

Agree3 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 14:58:16
Lads I think you will find that it's not called uncle Ben's rice anymore, it's just Ben's rice. Stop being obsessed with our finance's and enjoy this great team, we are fighting on four fronts with some great players to come back, just enjoy.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - that’s easier said than done mate. You can’t stop fans wanting to sign players

25 Jan 2022 15:31:30
I honestly thought "Ben's Rice" was just the Aldi rip off version 😂.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 15:37:56
I think if you actually read about the history of the naming of Uncle Bens rice then you would agree with the name change.

Unless you are a typical football fan from england who thinks they are superior to everyone because they were born in a particular country.

I agree with Mighty reds, stop fussing about money and stop filling the feed full of negative stuff. We don’t need to sign anyone at the moment and what is the point in going out and buying someone that won’t get on and will inevitably get the club into debt. That’s how United do things, not us. I like our transfer model. And this is arguably our most successful team since the 80’s. So wise up And come and support the team.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 16:18:36
Colin et al, I didn't know about the name change or about the historical context of the same, so apologies.

Although, I am fan from England but not sure if im typical or what that even constitutes considering the sheer number of fans the sport has. However, if the name was based around the subjugation, exploitation, manipulation or the like of peoples then im all for the change!

Im not obsessed with the financial side either. I actually love the fact that klopp is working magic with what he has, it makes it all that much sweeter and elevates his standing even more!

I don't comment much, but been reading for many many years. I just thought the witty remark about not being able to afford Bens rice, let alone declan rice was pretty funny! I don't think it was meant anything more than that. Gave me a laugh in what is very testing times.

25 Jan 2022 17:28:19
Haha, no worries man. Only winding you up anyway. I’m Irish myself, and lived in England for many years in the midlands, so I’m used to being spoken down to and disregarded. I have Indian friends who were also treated exactly the same. It’s no big deal, it’s just the way it is in parts of England. That’s why I love Liverpool. It’s a great city with great people, and none of this superiority elitist crap exists. Just good people, and pretty similar to me 😀.

I usually laugh at some of the ultra PC stuff cos it is just ridiculous but I suppose you have to see if from everyone’s point of view and whilst it might not be offenisve to us, it could be offensive to someone else. That’s all I was getting at really.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - great post Monty totally agree with your thoughts.

25 Jan 2022 17:50:30
Anyway, all this chat about Rice has made me a bit peckish. Away to get my dinner.

{Ed025's Note - steak and chips colin?.. :)

Agree1 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 07:20:09
Thanks for the heads up Colin. As Jaws said, it was just light hearted banter. I never watch news, read papers etc. so I completely miss a lot of things going on around the world. In fact the only media I read remotely regularly is BBC Sport and what's posted on this site!

Agree0 Disagree0

26 Jan 2022 10:12:26
Best way to be. The news is pretty rubbishty these days. A lot of fear and anger out there and there really is no need.

With regards to transfers, it really is exciting when a new player comes in, but I really think our club is in a good position or “moment” as Jurgen would say. We could certainly add one or two to boost the squad, but there is no crisis and no need to worry or fear about the future. I accept we won’t win the league this season, but like we didn’t win it for 30 years but we still have some great memories and better memories from a pretty disappointing era, than spurs or city or any of these big spenders have had. So whilst Sky Sports and the media make this into some sort of Netflix special and feed us whatever narrative suits their motives, I am quite content to just trust Klopp and the Club to do the right thing. I think we are the best we have been since I start supporting the club, and getting a fancy person in with a nice Spanish sounding name might be good for Sky and newspapers etc, but is it really what the club need? I’d rather they developed some of these academy players we have.

Agree0 Disagree0

25 Jan 2022 08:01:28
Do you see any truth in the rumours that Jude Bellingham has agreed personal terms with a summer transfer muted? And if so, has he agreed terms with other clubs too?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool have not agreed terms with Bellingham.}

25 Jan 2022 12:48:15
Dortmund don’t want to sell players on the never never! The time we structure a nvr nvr deal he will be long gone!

Fans back, Nike deal and Anfield Road expansion!3 things to be more hopeful concernings transfers. The upcoming financial reports should be the worst then things will improve. Before CV i think our revenues were in the top 5 of World football, we'll get back there again.
