According to The Times, we've made a loan bid for Victor Moses. Do we have no money, Eds? This is pretty underwhelming. Thanks.

Believable21 Unbelievable40

Well, LFC has negative money if that helps answer the question?

Agree1 Disagree4

If true seems sensible to me, don't really see any available wingers who rodgers may see as a willian(esk) type player due to missed targets, moses is a player who could really step up if he can add goals. don't see much point at throwing money at maybe players from other leagues. Maybe add a at dm

Agree0 Disagree2

I have to say, if Moses is the best we can do, it is indeed pretty underwhelming.

Agree4 Disagree0

Made a bid for HM and were after Willian, are you really asking if there is money?

Agree5 Disagree0

It's this new thing called back-up plan except Brendan's going to use it as an excuse for not signing a first choice left winger

Agree0 Disagree1

FSG won't give any more over it appears!

Agree1 Disagree3

Ithink its pretty smart, get a hungry young player eager to prove himself

hes a different option to our other wide players

Agree3 Disagree1

Ed, what is going on with FSG? So are they not impressed? 6pts out of 6? Why can't they support the manager after the transfer dealings have fetched surplus while the wages have been trimmed? Team like Liverpool need Top quality players and loan deals cannot bring them on board. FSG must not think about only profit because Liverpool made its name by winning trophies. {Ed002's Note - FSG are responsible owners and have been very supportive. The club has played well all season. I remain astonished at the constant bleating from the so-called fans. I fear Liverpool winning the league this season for the fans complaining about the trophy "It's only fucking silver, we is Liverpool and we deserve gold". I added the punctuation and corrected the spelling for the purposes of readability.}

Wish people wouldn't judge brendans signings if there not £25-£30m, toure = free, sturridge = £12m couthino = £8m, who ever we sign, can we not just trust our managers judgement? Its squeeky bum time, in regards to time left in window, and I'll be happy to get any 1 in! Seriously we need re-inforcements badly, coates is out for the season, we haven't a 3rd choice goalkeeper, we are yet to replace downing, and even the u21 squad is very young, and if we get any serious injuries, it will hinder us so badly, if ya's look at the mancs, citys, chelski, gooners and even spuds squad compared to ours, well I don't know how fsg and even us as fans can expect to finish in top4, yes we will try are hardest and brendan and all the staff will work miracles, but like I said, if we have any bad injuries we will be completely F*CK*D! But it doesn't mean I am throwing the towell in, just trying to get realistic on our squad size!

Agree6 Disagree0

I have to say Ed002 you can sometimes come off as a @&?! But in this scenario I'm starting to see why. You're spot on, tired of the whiners, money doesn't grow on teams.

Agree0 Disagree0

People need to get in the real world. We have the money as it shows in the players we have moved for, we are just not in a attractive position at the moment. We have to have realistic targets to get us to where we need to be, then the big signings will come. It's going to be tough the way others are spending.

Agree0 Disagree0

I just keep thinking about the moeny when spent on players like downing and carroll and even henderson, and now we are struggling to spend big on world class players

Agree0 Disagree0

No name poster.
You would like us to spend 1-2m on a 3rd choice keeper on say 35k per week on a 3 year contract and he will play no games and make the bench 4 times. You will then whine that he (like Doni, Cavalieri, Arphexad and the rest) are draining resources.
It's been explained that a combination of Aspas, Sterling & Ibe is more than sufficient cover for Downing.
We need one CB to replace Coates and allow Wisdom on loan.
We would like a faster, more penetrative replacement for Assaidi top left. It ONLY becomes a 20m plus spend if Suarez is leaving.
So a loan signing on the left makes sense as it probably means we are keeping LS.
If Ilori & Moses on loan are the only signings we make the depth of squad argument really is as simple as: is Ilori more suited to our style and therefore more effective than Coates? Is Moses likely to score/assist more than Assaidi? The bar is set pretty low so Tiago & Victor would be pushing at an open door.

Agree1 Disagree1

Easy for you to say Ed002. In recent times, Being a chelsea fan has meant there's no need to worry about the acquisition of quality footballers. We 'so called' fans are bleating that we are getting left behind. Oh and I don't mean behind chelsea Manchester United or Man city! I mean Arsenal and Tottenham. i'd say that's a realistic ambition for us fans to 'bleat' about? All we want are for players to come in who improve the First team. i.e for FSG to back their manager! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has been in the top ten spending clubs world-wide year-on-year for many years. In England, Liverpool has always been up there in the top three or four spending clubs. It could not be sustained - I have explained this repeatedly. FSG has backed the manager. People go on about how great the youngsters are but how many want to see Kelly or Wisdom given a chance as fourth choice centre back - pretty much no one whilst Sakho is available (another €20M please FSG).}

Agree1 Disagree2

I'm not saying the board aren't attempting to support the manager, they bid on HM only to lose out to Dortmund, which is fair enough, then to try for Willian, if we had offered what Chelsea and Spurs offered then I'd have been disappointed as its a lot of money for a player unproven at the highest level and quite frankly they made the right stance regarding the agents fees.
I'd only be disappointed if we signed Moses as he just isn't very good and is no better than Downing, I'm pretty sure there are better players available than that!

Agree0 Disagree0

People need to quit complaining. FSG are backing the manager and restructuring the wages in a sensible way. Dalglish unfortunately wasted an incredible amount of money and we need to sustain ourselves.

As for Moses, he's still young and extremely talented. Quick, great touch, and strong, just needs to add goals, as do most of the midfielders in the league. Remember people whining about the potential Sturridge signing the exact same way. It's not all about the stats. Wake up and get behind your club.

Agree2 Disagree0

People talk about the likes of Chelsea, Man City etc and the money they spend on players.

What will happen when the owners get fed up of these clubs and decide to get shut just like Anzhi? Chelsea have a net cost of £618, 165.000 since the 94/95 season, Man City stand at £564, 927,000 Manchester United £229, 810.000 and Liverpool @262, 335.000 so Liverpool are in comparison to Manchester United for spends.

FSG are looking long term, you construct something you start from the bottom and build up just what is happening an improvement all ready on the start we got last season, get behind the team and FSG and stop slagging them off, if you can’t piss off to the Manchester United pages and let us get on with what were doing.

YNWA {Ed002's Note - Chelsea's owner is one of the longest serving in the Premier League so I doubt that is a major concern for anyone. Manchester City's owners have been around longer than FSG. Whilst FSG are very good responsible owners, there is a ground-swell of "fans" who want them out and one of those nice sugar-daddy owners in.}

Isn't he one of those Nigerian players whose age no-one is 100% sure of ed? I'm sure I remember his name coming up in that discussion. {Ed002's Note - There was some question when he was at Crystal Palace but I don't think anyone has any issues right now.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Underwhelming? Moses is nowhere near as bad as our fans are making out. I recall the abuse Daniel Sturridge was given on various LFC sites before he signed and proved countless "experts" wrong. If he comes to Anfield, hopefully Moses will do likewise. Aquilani, Downing, Carroll and countless others cost a fortune and were all expensive failures. Sturridge and Coutinho are proof that quality players are available at the right price.

@ kidder so say mignolet gets a serious injury, we will have jones and danny ward, we have let gulasci go, jones is ok for the odd 1 or 2 games, but ward hasn't even played much for u21, I, m not saying spend £1 or £2m or pay £35.000 a week, they were your words not mine, but maybe a de vries type, no transfer fee, and maybe £7-10 grand a week, I really hope no one gets injured but what if it does, just a point of view kidda!

If Liverpool do not buy Arda Turan for left forward it will be so disappointing.The boy is pure class and I think he would come to us over anyone.I know what you've said Ed's about the probability of this happening but to your knowledge has interest intensified over the weekend. Cheers in advance YNWA. JFT 96 {Ed001's Note - I am not aware of any change in the situation.}

Believable23 Unbelievable8

As I live in Madrid I watched Turan train earlier last month and he was very lazy pulling out of challenges and was been constantly watched by the trainers and they were on his back all the time as he was not taking training serious. Insua was the same that day fat and lazy after the summer.I hope he cops on or he will be on the side lines like insua.

Liverpool will struggle to sign Arda Turan, there is interest from us but I've been told we will not match the release clause (€24m).

It's a shame as I truly believe he is the attacker we need.

Believable32 Unbelievable20

We will not bid for him at all. I doubt there is even any Interest at all or not enough for us to bid. IMO we will look for a defender but we won't get the attacking player that we soooo badly need. We have to work with what we have.

Agree1 Disagree2

Iv been watching him tonight he looks great and I don't see a lack of pace he dusted the rayo backline on numerous times he's looked a great player tonight I just don't think we will bid at all nevermind bidding low I wish we would he looks a top player and costa too weren't athletico interested in saurez offer them a swap costa and arda for saurez and relax I know it won't happen be nice if it did I can wish lool

Wish all you like THAT wish is a gonner! That's a gonner not a Gooner.

Hi Ed002,
Sakho and Eriksen`s arrival would make me happy this week. Any chance I will be happy Ed? thanks. {Ed002's Note - Liverpool will need to move fast as there has already been one bid for Eriksen turned down this weekend - so others are ramping up their interest. Sakho is being offered around but the price is too high in the view of Napoli and Milan although Napoli want him on loan. The price actually being asked by PSG is €20M but they will settle for less. They have also had him offered up to Manchester City and Arsenal. We will see at the week how happy you are Tom.}

Believable11 Unbelievable21

In general ed do you see a lot of movement this week? {Ed002's Note - Yes - there is plenty of movement that will happen across Europe. There are also sorts of things in the melting pot and with representatives of a number of the higher profile clubs being together for a day or so there will be a chance or them to hang out and strike a deal of two.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Eds can u explain what is the movement of Liverpool regarding signing new players before shutting of window? {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts man.}

Agree0 Disagree1

But the other post is only speculation.

Agree0 Disagree2

It would make me happy to see you happy Tom. Especially regarding Sakho that would make me a very happy man

Ed do you know who the club was who offered for eriksen? This lad is the ideal replacement for STEVIE {Ed002's Note - Atletico Madrid.}

With Real buying Bale, a player we've been linked with in the past along with Arsenal will prob be available Angel di Maria. Surely they would like to get rid to pay for some of that Bale money so my question is do you think it's a possibility and is he good enough? I don't watch any Spanish football. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Di Maria was offered to PSG as part of a package with another Real Madrid player and he was at one point offered as bait for either Bale - but had no interest in a move to Spurs. If Real Madrid lose out on Bale they will move for Silva and include Di Maria in the deal, but that is now unlikely. His agent also approached both Manchester United and Chelsea and I am told that the player would not object to a move to Italy should the opportunity arise. A €20M offer for Di Maria from PSG was rejected. Arsenal approached Real Madrid about Di Maria and Benzema but Benzema is keen to stay at Real Madrid (although they would like to sell). There is a very real chance of an offer from Arsenal being made in the last week of the window, but it will need to be around €30M to be acceptable.}

one of the eds(not sure which)suggested we had made tentative enquiries about andre ayew

does whichever ed is was have any more info on this?

thanks {Ed002's Note - It is what I said - Liverpool enquired after availability and price. That's it. There is plenty of other interest in him and Marseille expect a bid from another club in the next couple of days.}

Believable5 Unbelievable3

Ah okay thanks ed!

Agree1 Disagree0

Would be a usefull addition in my opinion but I believe they want 22 mill euros for him. {Ed002's Note - It is not €22M and a bid will be made by Newcastle either today or tomorrow as previously explained.}

Roma have offered £6m for YILMAZ, Galatasaray want £12m. I think Liverpool should look at him at that price, if we could get him for £9-10m it would be really good business. {Ed002's Note - I explained the situation with Liverpool's interest in Yilmaz and of course it kicked off problems. There is an update to that in respect of Liverpool but I am not going to give any detail. I can say you can forget about a move for him to Anfield now.}

Believable10 Unbelievable10

A pity but realistically given his age I personally never saw it as being particularly likely that he would join us. {Ed002's Note - It was not his age that stopped the interest.}

I have been told that we will make a move for Christian Erikson after scouting him again this weekend when he scored 1 and created 1 for Ajax. Whilst he only has 1 year left on his contract, the club feel they can get him before the deadline for a reasonable price and much less than quoted in previous windows. Just passing on what I was told!

Believable35 Unbelievable45

Well my morning paper gives me the usual news that Spurs are planning to sign him. Well they would wouldn't they? Every player we're interested in sends Spurs after them. The thing that caught my attention though was a suggested bid of £10 million that would reflect him only 1 year left on his contract if that's correct.

Agree2 Disagree0

Hate to burst your bubble mate but this won't happen.

Agree2 Disagree0

Really? back on him again?
i smell a what bulls leave after proccesing its food.

Agree2 Disagree0

Not a wise move in my opinion. Eriksen clearly been angling for a big move, hasn't worked out so could see him using us as a stepping stone and doing a Suarez a season or too later. Given that occupies a similar position to Coutinho (if Coutinho is played in his best position) I don't see the investment as worth while. Good player he may be but I don't think he is the right player for the club.

Agree1 Disagree2

Seano, I completely disagree. Eriksen scores all his goals coming in off the left. I think it would be his best position. Like that trick were he drags the ball thru the players legs, that's always at the byline

Agree2 Disagree1

If Erikson signed say a 4 or 5 year contract and played well he'd scarcely be in a strong position to use us as a stepping stone with 3 or4 years still to run on that contract. Erikson has only had 3 clubs and 1 of them was his small home town club of Middelfart next was Odense and then Ajax. He first signed for 2 and a half years with Ajax and then extended his contract which ends next season. his career so far hardly shows him to be disloyal or a player looking for stepping stones. Whether he's the right player for us is a matter of personal opinion and I'm not howling that we must get out the cheque book for him but he has to be a reasonable option at 21 as opposed to £30 million plus for a 25 year old Willian. At least I have seen Erikson play in internationals and he clearly has talent and I don't ever recall seeing Willian play a game. {Ed002's Note - Eriksen constantly talks to the press about the clubs he would like to play for. Liverpool has not made any offer for him whilst he has already agreed personal terms with one club (who until they sell do not have the money to buy him) and a bid from another side has been rejected this weekend. Add to that interest from Spurs, if Liverpool wishes to do anything, then now is the time.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Perhaps from a footballing perspective you are right. But he has clearly had his eyes on moving elsewhere and has been constantly talking to the media in order to engineer a move. We already have one player like that, do we need another?

Agree1 Disagree1

At 21 I'm sure the lad is ambitious about moving to a higher profile club. Whether he'd be interested in joining us as opposed to a club in 1 of the 2 European competitions is a moot point. My point is that we were apparently ready to pay around £30 million for Willian who presumably was happy with us until Spurs came a knocking and then changed again once Chelsea bid for him. I guess you could say Willian was using us and Spurs as stepping stones without even signing for either club so surely that makes Willian untrustworthy too? The minute RM said they wanted Bale he became "unsettled" and "once a blue etc" Rooney has several times said he wants away, Tevez walked out on city too so Erikson would be in lots of company wouldn't he?

Agree1 Disagree1

Now or never? Not a term Ayre understands I am afraid. Eriksen wants CL like all top players, not something I see us "buying" in the near future.

Agree0 Disagree1

I want us to be a players first choice not last resort

Agree1 Disagree0

Being reported that Ljajic could be available for 10 million or do we wait until next season when he can go on a free. That is if we are interested at all.

{Ed002's Note - Ljajic is certainly available and certainly trying to engineer a move out of Fiorentina. An expected move to Milan for Ljajic failed to be completed and whilst Torino and Atletico Madrid were still pushing for the player, I would suspect something will still happen with Milan, or with Roma if Lamela moves on. A new contract with Fiorentina was rejected on August 23 and Atletico has immediately turned their attentions to Eriksen after being told that the player will move to Roma or Milan. This will likely run until close to the end of the window.}

Believable4 Unbelievable13

Ed what kind of player is Ljajic? never heard of him {Ed002's Note - He falls in to the same category as Pjanic and Eriksen - and to a certain extent it is the same clubs looking at all three players.}

edd hansen reckons suarez will sign new deal this week. u heard anything on that? {Ed002's Note - Suarez has let a little information out via a "friend" to say the he will stay against his will one more year and then he will leave regardless. This sort of situation cannot be allowed to carry on but I think it will become more difficult to find a buyer with this sort of leakage of information to the media. We'll see.}

Believable13 Unbelievable17

Bit naive Ed if you think players don't get things out there via favoured journos. {Ed002's Note - Would you like to try and explain where I am being naïve? Why not list some other players who have spent this summer dragging their club through the gutter, embarrassing the owners and the manager with repeated interviews, letting it be known that the other players in the team are not good enough etc., etc.?}

Agree2 Disagree1

Who is the friend out of curiosity Ed? I understand Cavani has done a lot of talking for him! Same with a few others. To be honest I'd rather sell him and buy two top top quality attackers. I think he's fantastic but the team seem better without him. I'd love to see Lamela play for Liverpool! {Ed002's Note - There is a name on one of the transcripts but it is not someone I have heard of or know anything about.}

Agree3 Disagree0

Hello Eds,
regarding your reply to Suarez situation. You say he will stay for one season and then leave regardless, does this mean he will like to leave even if we achieve European footy?
If that is the case I reckon we should do a deal with Real this season itself. We will have a nice guideline to get a good deal using the figure they are paying for Bale. I reckon we could get a good deal of around 45-50M + Caseimero.

{Ed002's Note - You really need to read the posts more carefully - I did not say that. The price of Bale has absolutely nothing to do with Suarez at all. And Real Madrid are not going to sell Casemiro who only joined them this summer.}

Agree0 Disagree1

Rooneys people and Bales people have got their message across quite clearly. That's just two off the top of my head. My point is all big clubs have problems of this sort from time to time. I respect your work (as I have said many times) but you always make out that Suarez's actions are somehow unique. Players are selfish and I know for definite that some senior Liverpool players take the view that for all his problems they are better off with LS.

Agree1 Disagree0

I agree with the editor on this one: having an unhappy, restless player in the squad (especially one as disruptive and divisive as Suarez) could be catastrophic. There seems to be a really good harmony and a work for each other mentality at the moment, I can only see Suarez damaging that. Unfortuntely it is very late in the window so selling him now is fraught with problems (i.e. can we find replacement? Will we need to pay more for said replacement a la Carroll?) which, thanks to Suarez (and I might add the club itself who knew the situation months ago) puts us between a rock and a hard place.

Honestly I wouldn't know what to do if I was the owner right now. IF we have already identified and intend to sign a specific player, fee agreed, then perhaps we can move him on but as that hasn't happened I guess, for better or worse, he has to stay. The only bonus (and I use the term lightly) is that as we have no European football a move in January for a sizeable fee is entirely possible.

The bottom line, however, is that Suarez has done huge damage to our club despite the steadfast backing and support he has received from both staff and fans alike. Its not good enough and ultimately I will be happy when he moves on. We've been let down badly, regardless of his ability as a player Suarez is someone we do not need or want (nor should accept) at our club.
