I really hope the spine of our team remains next season! Namely Reina, Agger, Enrique, Lucas, Gerrard and Suarez..
Although im not too sure wether Reina's hearts still at Anfield as I. Feel hes been slacking of late :/
If Reina does eventually go then I think we should grab M.Vorm off Swansea as hes been nothing short of terrific in thier debut season (Y)
I know alot of people have said it but we need a goal poacher real bad!! Someone whos ready to camp around the six yard box and finish off the chances that weve failed to put away. An actual right midfielder and a playmaker with an eye for a killer pass!
My choices would be:
ST- any suggestions? All the ones i can think would probably be unavailable or too expensive..
RM- G.Ramirez! This lad is top quality..Really hope wee can prize him away with Suarez the main attraction
CAM- I.Munaian! I would pay big money for him if we have to! Young but is the heartbeat of Bilbao and tore Man Utd on his own!!

We can then add a few quality squad players..
And I really think Carroll will come good if we keep him but if he were to go then I would have no qualms about that..

Also ED002 or any other Ed(s), how many chelsea players will not be eligible to play the finals in bayern? And sturridge hasnt been playing recently, injured?
Cheers
RedSox69

I think this Jackson Martinez guy, the new drogba? Cam i would go sao paulo's lucas only 18 and as gd as gotze

Isnt Muniain more a winger, and G Ramirez a CAM?

For striker I would like to see jackson martinez too. Or better matias suarez

JanBorman

Terry, Ivanovic, Meireles, and Ramirez, Bayern will also have absentees, but based on what I saw of the game in Madrid or how Bayern ran through Real I think Chelsea really don't have a prayer against this german side, they looked solid throughout, never looked fazed as some away teams may feel, lets be honest here, Chelsea defended for their lives superbly for more or less 90mins, Bayern ran at Real for 120mins, couple that with the fact they are now playing the final at their own ground........its Bayern for me, sorry Ed002........ yere luck in this competition is about to run out!!! {Ed001's Note - Bayern were far from solid, if Madrid weren't so heavy legged after El Classico at the weekend, they would have torn that terrible defence apart. They were completely at 6s and 7s all match, the two fullbacks were constantly out of position and got no cover.}

Why would we want and list as spine- enrique? shocking left back

Posted last night about rafa coming back, it's totally true not as manager as dof, 100% bang on, left Barcelona this morning returned back this aft, words said on flight that Brendan Rodgers is gonna be new head coach at lfc

If Brendan rogers is our new manager that's my love affair with lpool finished! Why would I waste my time following a club with. I ambition while utd, city win everything an rip my f'ing heart out week in week out.

Ta La, Don't let the door hit you on the way out.
Redferlife.

It'll bo Woy mk.II - remembe Hodgson did do well at Fulham, inc Europa final, really dont think Rodgers has enough experience.

Rafas experience, use of stats at tech wizardy will make a respectful homecoming - itll give the team a boost, altho would prob mean we'll never get Xabi home...

Why would we have Xabi home? he is 30 now and on enormous wages at RM!

Rafa lives on the wirral!

I was just passing on info that I over heard on flight from very reliable n the know lfc ex first team player ynwa

eds any intrest in jordan rhodes he definatly knows were the goal is {Ed002's Note - Not that I know of.}

I hope so lad, totally agree young english an bags goals.. fits the bill perfectly

Think hes just what we need, like rushie when he burst through but better in the air

We need a proven a striker not someone with potential in the 2nd division. If he was available for 1mill+ change then I'd say take a chance but he'won't. Huddersfield will want a lot more for him

All our players know where the goal is. The problem is they couldn't find the back of it with a sat nav.

All this talk of AC Milan n Lille sending Aqualani and Cole back is just a ploy to try and get them for next to nothing!
Winds me up, you took them on loan, you sang their praises, so pay the money! {Ed002's Note - No. There is a fixed value contract for Aquilani and Cole is simply on loan.}

I am not itk just my opinion but if Lille do not buy Cole i reckon either Reading or WHU should they get promoted will buy him. As for Aquaman sounds like he's lazy attitude as also moved to Italy with him hence another reason Milan dont want him. LFC may aswell off load him for free for what we will get for him!! please stop buying Ities they simply cant hack the prem. or maybe the weather.
Also KK will most likely go upstairs and another manager brought in.
No suprise to see Suarez go either, dont think the owner appreciated the bad name LFC got with the whole evera saga.

Whom we will bring in player wise, i cannot hazzard a guess, do not expect any big names. :(

Do not worry some Itallian team will take Aquallani of us and if the worst with lille comes with J Cole Reading or West Ham if they come up , will snap our hands off at the right price

Joe Cole came back for the TEAM GB, lol

he back for the summer 2012 in London

Liverpool shouldn't loan to italian teams anymore, this happened last season exactly the same with Juve. It'll be the same next season if he's loaned out, i'd just keep Aqualani and play him, he's better than most of the midfielders at our club currently.

West ham and reading would struggle to pay joe coles wages

Eds...I've noticed that Thomas Muller hasn't been starting the Champions league games lately. Has he fallen out of favor at Bayern at all? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Other players are preferred to him at present but I dont think they want to sell

He was injured was he not.

I had heard Kroos is prefered to him due to Mueller's lack of effort in training

Hi ed's, who is this Unai Emery I know he is the Valencia manager but is he any good and what are the chances of him coming to manage the mighty reds!
Cheers YNWA
Greg {Ed002's Note - He has a good reputation but will likely be moving on this summer. There is a chance he could move to England but Greece will offer a decent option for him with Olympiakos.}

Olympiakos or Liverpool
Greece or England

Its a no brainer...

Very highly regarded young manager.

Many people think he would have broken the Real-Barca duopoly if he didn't have to sell his best player every year.

Will prob go to Inter.

GREECE!!!!!!!, and who the hell is going to pay him......the IMF or the ECB.....the country is on its knees financially, bailout after bailout. This guy for what he has achieved on such a shoestring budget could command a much more lucrative deal in Italy or Spain as opposed to Greece.......LMFAO {Ed001's Note - Olympiakos are not on their knees though.}

Here's a crazy idea- instead of targeting a manager who may have broken the duopoly of Barca and Madrid had it not been for selling his best players, why don't we go for a manager who has already done it...twice!
Equally, why not go for a manager who knows the club inside out, knows the league and how to build a team to regularly make the top 4, speaks fluent english, loves the club, still living on Merseyside and who's trophy haul over the last decade is only bettered by Mourinho, Pep and Ferguson!
A bit crazy i know, but something to ponder

He's doing great at valencia,why would he want to leave them?any idea why ed's? {Ed002's Note - It is really no more than "my work here is done" actually.}

Colombian attacker Jackson Martinez, who currently plays for Mexico's Jaguares de Chiapas, has rebuffed rumors he is about to join England's Liverpool F.C., according to news agency Radio Santa Fe.

Martinez also denied reports the "Reds" had already spent a huge sum of money to secure his signature.

The comment came after Mexican sports journalist Jorge Zambrano claimed the premier league club had already paid some of Martinez's transfer fee, saying "The board of directors at Liverpool in England have paid three of nine million dollars," adding "now I can safely say Jackson is a Liverpool player."

The Colombian international said no such transaction had taken place and vowed to fulfill his contract at Jaguares, saying "The most important thing right now is to fulfill my role with Jaguares in the Clausura [league competition], and then discuss our future."

Martinez added, "I would like this to be solved. In reality this is an awkward situation (...) People spoke [Monday] to me from my country to congratulate me on my move to Liverpool (...) Until now there has been nothing. I spoke over the phone to [Jaguares president] Guillermo Cantu and asked him to be transparent with me, I am still waiting for news."

If the rumors prove true, Martinez would become the second Colombian to play in the Premier League, joining Wigan Athletic's Hugo Rodallega.

Faustino asprilla was colombian this website is a joke {Ed002's Note - It was obviously a cut and paste from elsewhere.}

Faustino Asprilla?

Juan Pablo Ángel Aston Villa F.C. 200007
Faustino Asprilla Newcastle United F.C. 199598
Hamilton Ricard Middlesbrough F.C. 199802
Hugo Rodallega Wigan Athletic F.C. 200812
Jhon Viáfara Portsmouth F.C. 200506

just Knit Picking

Are you all thick? It obviously means 2nd Colombian in the peek today not overall

Prem*

I thought juan pablo angel was from colombia

Wasn't Pablo Angel another Columbian to play in the prrmier league?

Hamilton ricard at middlesbrough about 12 yrs ago was the first columbian

Hi ed's don't know anything but I really hope our next manager is Jamie Carragher. I'd give Kenny another 12 month's then hand over to Carragher he has an encyclopedic knowledge of football and has played against some of the best in the world so he knows who'd make it and who wouldn't. If he does get it we have to be patient and let him build his own team 3 years minimum that should give him enough time to bed new recruits and youngsters. We need a team not a ruck of overpaid mercenaries. Just my opinion

We don't have 3 years to potentially get relegated with Carra in charge. No freaking way

Why not Gerrard in 4 or 5yrs after Kenny.
Definitely not Carra! He would love players in his own image. "Right lads don't dwell on the ball, just boot it!!"
kidmillions

Not agreeing with the original post, but to be fair just because carra is a defender doesnt mean he wont have his team play attacking on the floor football. Pep Guardiola was a def mid, and Riijkaardd before him a centre back yet they're responsible for having barca play some of the best football ever. We dont know how carra will do but he will be a manager when he retires thats for certain.

Dodge

We won't get relegated, if you look at successful teams past and present most have a long serving manager and therefore 1 ideal not lots of managers all trying to do their thing. It's going to be tough few years but we don't want some hired gun lookingfor the next big payday Liverpool tv is a way of life not a stepping stone.and anyway there's no guarantee the next boss will have instant success there were a lot of people on here who wanted AVB in summer look how that turned out, and we can't afford to sack managers every year

I disagree that he would want players of his own image, as the poster said he is an encyclopaedia of football and he knows what his own capabilities are and what he can and can't do on a field, if he built a team he would want the best for Liverpool and he would know what it takes to get a team playing. The only worry I would have is if he had to make a decision which is gonna benefit the team and not just to please the fans coz to cut it at the top you have to be single minded and slightly stubborn and I'm not sure weather he would have that ruthless streak in him. But u would never know unless he was given a chance.

REDant

Why not just give Kenny the 3 years to build his squad, stop being silly and get off his back. No doubt you're the kind of 'fan' who would be calling for Carragher's head the moment we drew a game anyway.

RedMan

I have the feeling Carragher would be a horrible manager.

TSP

Back To The Future with Carra. Wimbledon 88 here we come. Three humdred mile an hour Exocet Missiles launched from a back four camped on the edge of the 6 yard box to a striker 100 yards away.

My gut tells me Carra wouldn't last 6 months in the job. It would be a disaster.

Carra as manager?! LMAO! what qualifications does he have apart from watching footy matches and reading magazines like any other fanatical footy fan? you must be trolling us to even suggest it. best thing carra can do is leave in the summer. sentimentalism is whats holding this club backwards. we need a top class manager in the summer. end of. {Ed001's Note - he has been working to get his coaching badges for years.}

Coaching badges aside, he is not qualified. He will get a role within the club when he hangs his boots and take it from there.

PDUK

Carragher would play as much English players as possible, Spearing will defintley be a starter over Lucas if he was in charge.

Carragher would know who would make it and who wont you say? Carragher still thinks he is good enough to keep playing for Liverpool. Players dont always make good managers mate.

Steve

Some stupid people on here Carra will only play English#Why?
Carra would play route 1 football#Why?
Carra has no qualifactions#Why?
Carra would want a team moulded in his own image#Why?
I posted the same question a few wekks ago.Iam not saying it would happen but every manager has toooo start somewhere and we did it with KK afew years ago.
Also we do sing a song about wating a team of Carraghers.

Lurgan Red

Obviously Carra won't be left in charge right now BUT I do believe that he will take a coaching role within the club just like Pep did with Barca.
Maybe one day he will be manager of Liverpool he has said before he'd like to do that, but hey the "fans" know best and maybe they should decide every member of the backroom staff

25 Apr 2012 18:38:50
Can you tell me if there is any truth we are after Rasmus Elm and what type of player he is. And also would we be interested in De Jong of City please? {Ed002's Note - Elm yes. He is known to shoot a great deal and this has pissed off some of those who play with him on occasion, but he is attracting interested from Liverpool, Juve, Spurs and Manchester United. De Jong there is no interest in but I suspect he will be moving this summer.}

25 Apr 2012 18:28:06
Ian Ayres to become director of football

What qualifications does Ayre have to do the job?

He is doing fine doing what he is doing the only 1 at the club matching the top teamswith the great deals he got us.

Ha if anything he will have a slightly deminished role and will be back to concentrating on the commercial success of the club, which he is exceptional at.

Dodge

Behave. he's a suit man, not a football man.

25 Apr 2012 18:25:45
A lot of people are mentioning athletic bilbaos manager, Marcelo bielsa, as a likely candidate for the managerial position at anfield. I know he is said to be an excellent manager, with great tactical awareness. Eds what's your opinion on him? And is he in contention for the manager role? {Ed002's Note - A very slim chance I would have thought. I think he is far more likely to move to Inter Milan if the chance arises.}

Ed just out of interest how come he is more likely to go to inter? {Ed002's Note - They have previously spoken with him and he is very clearly someone they may turn to.}

He could go to Barca if Pep leaves

Dodge

I like him but He's about 57 doesn't speak English, just about sums it up.
kidmillions {Ed002's Note - Sounds like Ed007.}

Kenny's leaving. wow how did i miss that.

25 Apr 2012 18:08:38
Hi eds
In the summer Liverpool should make a move for a young replacement goalkeeper like Toni courtois the bright young prospect from Sporting Lisbon as backup for Doni if he should leave on a free in the summer.
Martin Kelly was never a right back and whoevers manager in the summer should start to train Kelly up into an experienced centre back for the future. At right back Isla should be a great replacement as right back. Agger and Skrtel have been amazing at centre half this season but Coates (who is just finding some form) and Kelly are great for the future. Enrique has arguably been are most consistent player this season and I am almost certain he would of kept his place in the team next season.

Thanks
Scousered

Isn't courtois on loan from Chelsea?

And hes on loan at Athletico Madrid

And his name is Thibaut.

TSP

Agree completely about defence

Unai Emery will be next LFC Manager and will be named shortly after the FA Cup Final, with KK already knowing he will move into another role and not the role of DOF.
YOZLFC

I think any announcement should be after the cup final , the stronger rumour i have heard is manager - Marcelo Bielsa ,DOF - David Dein and the ex DOF from Barcelona ( cant remember his name )
Red G

Can he even speak English? I think the answer is no. So it's not going to happen.
kidmillions

I would be a dream signing, he is a excellent young manager. Just look how he has managed Valancia with a meager budget and competed with FCB,RM in la Liga. Young and tactful...

Would rather have Dick Emery

Competed with madrid and barca? His team are 30 points behind them. I don't think there was much competing there.

25 Apr 2012 17:47:34
Hi Eds,

What are the chances of David Dein coming in to take care of financial side such as wage control and transfer negotiations whilst a new DoF takes care of other responsibilities?

Cheers,

Hassan lfc4lyf {Ed002's Note - Very, very unlikely.}

But Ed002 how come he came to watch Liverpool with IA and DC several times? {Ed001's Note - because he was invited to come.}

25 Apr 2012 17:41:01
Just wanna say congrats to Ed002. How was the experience in that fantastic spainish stadium? Did you have a safe journey there and back (if you are back of course).

Also, fellow reds.....leave the Chelsea arguments alone please! We have bigger fish to fry and we have plenty of time to mention the West London Blues after the cup final.

K. Bennett

Ps, Macca we love you mate! Don't worry about the doubters {Ed002's Note - We flew via Paris so it just took a little longer. But the stadium was full and very noisy last night. As with any game, you can lose track of what is going on when you are there - so it was not evident what led to Terry being sent off until we got a paper in Paris first thing this morning.}

Must be a new experience for a Chelsea fan, an atmosphere :) Must make Stamford Library sound like a tomb!

Great result though, if not performance. I would use the term anti-football but I loved it when Rafa got tactics right in Europe, so fair play to Chelsea for getting the result they needed.

As for Jamie Redknapp's comments about being best night in Europe! Hello, Istanbul anyone? A good attacking example and not just Wimbledon of old style of lumping it up the front and praying the opposition have so many players forward in the attack that they can't defend! :D
{Ed002's Note - I very rarely go to Stamford Bridge - just two or three games a year - but you are right it is not particularly noisy. This makes for a far nicer watching experience and it is not distracting for the players.}

Fantastic Ed002. Glad you had a good time and had a safe journey! Bet you lost your voice when Torres scored eh lol? So, how do you feel about the Terry situation? Was that a captain doing what he had to in order to help his team restrain a talent like Sanchez? Or, do you feel it was an irresponsible act?

Always a pleasure talking to you Ed002 :)

K. Bennett {Ed002's Note - I don't shout at football matches at all KB. As for Terry I did not know what had happened at the time but I am sure in retrospect he agrees with me that it was aparticularly dumb thing to do.}

I have no problem with chelsea best of luck to them its nando i wouldnt like to see winning anything especially after not wearing an armband to respect the loved ones of the fans who he once played for ed002 i hope chelsea win and then offload that yoke as soon as possible
Eam

Hi eds, just visited the KOP and a guy wrote in a blog that, Kenny's stepping down next season and Jurgen Klopp is coming to Liverpool. Is it true? He's a better manager than KD imo and I would definitely want him here. {Ed002's Note - Try reading the other posts.}

Load of rubbish don't listen to a word he says he is havin u on. Why would Kenny step down he is certainly no quitter. Kenny is certain to stay and is part of future plans

Kenny no quitter?.i think he quit once before didn't he, but this time is different,i think he knows he's done all he can and its time for somebody else,

More bulls**t

Leaving shortly after all the trials and tribulations of Hillsborough! Doesn't really count as quitting.
The 1st reply is right, Kenny is no quitter.
The real quitters are all those calling for his head after just one full season!
kidmillions

Yeah, lets plough on with his 1980's tactics and fall further behind , get someone fresh in

Quitting is quitting,daglish quit full stop,although he's not a big as quitter as keegan who could quit for england............and he did

Fickle, fickle kopite gobsh***e! Jurgen Klopp took three seasons before acheiving anything at Dortmund: pretty sure his first two seasons in charge saw them finish 6th and 5th, respectively. With you lot calling for Kenny's head after a season-and-a-half, what's to say that you wont be doing the same with Klopp if he fails to qualify for Europe after his first season in charge? Seriously, give Kenny time: he's already won one trophy and in another (winnable) final against Chavski. Moreover, it's not as if they've been getting played off the park in many games, far from it. They've been unlucky in a lot of games and will come good next season, mark my words.

25 Apr 2012 17:11:42
eds, are we looking at Seydou Keita? While I was watching the FCB vs CFC game, the commentators said that, "Seydou Keita will be facing Chelsea at least twice next season. He's on the move to Liverpool in the summer." They said it when he came in to replace Fabregas. {Ed002's Note - Obviously I have no idea what was said by the commentator but Liverpool were reportedly interested in the 52 year old. Keita}

You mean the 32 year old Keita.

Ha, 52 years old. I hope that was deliberate!

I have heard tentative talk about Liverpool taking a look at Kevin doyle after wolves' relegation for roughly £5 million. Maybe a buy to strengthen the bench because as much as I'd love to see an Irish player, I don't believe that he is good enough. Would much prefer Wes hoolahan, have you heard anything on possible destinations for these two eds? Cheers, keep up the fantastic work

Green red {Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out, there has been no interest in Doyle by us, some from Everton, some from Stoke as well. I have no idea about Hoolahan though.}

Strengthen the Bench, forget Kevin Doyle for that money. Just a get any old joiner out the yellow pages:))

eds do we have intrest in falcoa,llorente or soldado?

thanks {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

Yep, plenty interest but absolutely no chance of signing them. Dream on, matey!

25 Apr 2012 16:06:28
yo eds

do you think who ever the manager will be will get a trasfer budget plus what players are sold?

alos one of the eds said they would like to see malaga's or athletico bilboas manager come (i cant remember there names) do you think one of them will come?

thanks {Ed002's Note - Money for players is never allocated in such a cut and dried way. We don't know who the manager will be.}

I do! It will be Kenny Dalglish.
kidmillions

Didn't Malaga come into big money this season? Could be the reason for improved showing, might not be down to brilliant management skills.

So let me see if i get this right, you want a new manager, you really like them, but you don't know who they are?
Lets hope a more in-depth process is used for any new apointments than 'watching a team knock United out of the Europa cup on tv'

Dalglish will be manager next season. For someone who is apparently a 'legend' at the club, it seems to me that most so-called fans want him out. I'd hate to be one of your enemies, I really would!

25 Apr 2012 16:12:31
eds is there any intrest in javi martinez

he is young and with him and lucas i dont think we would conside many

thanks {Ed002's Note - Manchester City are probably looking to replace Nigel De Jong in the summer and Javi Garcia and Javi Martinez were the two players they are looking at. I was told a while back that Inter Milan may make a bid for Javi if they decide not to take Juraj Kucka from co-owners Genoa. I am not convinced that Bilboa will want to sell the player any time soon, and if they do they will want 40M euro with Barcelona and Real Madrid being possible destinations. Garcia has signed a new deal at Benfica so I imagine Martinez will become a serious target for Manchester City who may also face interest from Manchester United.}

25 Apr 2012 16:05:11
Is there still any liverpool interest in honda? {Ed002's Note - I doubt it.}

25 Apr 2012 15:44:43
I really do believe that Iker Muniain could be a good addition to LFC. Eds or Macca, any idea of what the fee might land?
I know you can't say for sure but somewhat close guess maybe.

Iker Muniain vs. Manchester United
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XGylPtA1gGU {Ed002's Note - They were looking for 40M euros in January and he can be sold to an Iberian club for about 33M euros. No one will pay anything like that. They may find buyers a plenty around 20M euros or so.}

Do you think LFC will be in the race of signing him for around 20M?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - If the price comes down to a reasonable level I can see interest from several English clubs including Manchester United and Liverpool. Roma interest is still there and rumours abound of Juventus and Malaga interest but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

Good player, but at the price would be best to wait for Sterling.
kidmillions

Hey ed , what do you mean by " he can be sold to an Iberian club for about 33M euros"?
........RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - There is a clause in his contract that could be invoked if needs be, but no Iberian side would pay that amount.}

Is 20M a reasonable price according to you Eds?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Yes, there would be interest from a number of clubs at 20M euros.}

25 Apr 2012 15:35:01
Ed002, I understand that this is not Liverpool related, but could you clear up a couple of doubts for me please?

First, is Maxi Lopez and Riccardo Montolivo poised to sign for Milan? I mean, are they likeliest to sign for them?

Second, what is the latest on Antonio Cassano? Will he play again next season or are Milan likely to let him go after his surgery?

AG {Ed002's Note - Maxi Lopez wants and may get the AC Milan deal. If not Spurs have a lingering interest in him. .Montolivo will leave Fiorentina in the summer and regardless of interest from Juventus, Inter, Liverpool and Roma will almost certainly move to AC Milan. Cassano is now back and was on the bench on Sunday. He won't leave this summer.}

Thanks Ed002!

AG

Maxi Lopez already plays for Milan doesn't he? Sure they signed him in Jan. {Ed002's Note - On loan.}

25 Apr 2012 15:15:13
Are we interested on Olivier Giroud, Eds, Macca? {Ed002's Note - It was expected that Giroud would stay within France with a move to PSG but performances this season have seen Lyon, Marseille, Valencia, Newcastle, Villarreal, Arsenal and particularly Malaga show an interest. At one point Nicollin discussed the interest in the player saying Newcastle were too minor a club and Arsenal would have to pay 50M euros, if not 60M euros for the player. The reality is that he will move for perhaps 20M euros or so in the summer as it will be tough for Montpellier to persuade him to stay. Interest at the moment is still being shown by Arsenal and Bayern Munich have made an approach to Montpellier. The player declared an interest in a move to Italy but much will depend on the price - I don't see Marseille being able to pay enough, nor perhaps Lyon. It is possible that Liverpool may become interested but at present I understand they are not.}

Hi ed, do you mean that arsenal will get 10 striker in this summer including matias suarez, luuk de jong, podoski,..and so on? everytime people ask your opinion about a striker, you will say arsenal is more likely to get the striker because they offer CL qualification. {Ed002's Note - Podolski will join Arsenal. I have never said Arsenal is a more likely destination for either of the others which makes you a liar as far as I can see.}

25 Apr 2012 14:54:09
Eds with us looking for a new D.O.F. Do you see
This as a role that maybe Kenny could
Take? {Ed002's Note - Possibly.}

25 Apr 2012 13:18:50
Eds, need ur answer on this.
1)IS Liverpool interested to buy another Defensive midfielder to partner up with Lucas? I think we need to play like Rafa's era with 2 DMF. 1 destroyer and another one is deeplying playmaker.

Any of these player under LFC target?
Beram Kayal
Gojko Kaca
Sven Bender
Kwadwo Asamoah
Ever Banega

2) Is true Joe Cole and Aquilani going back to LFC? We could use Joe Cole to bid other Lille player and We could use Aquilani to include in any deal in Italy like buying Juan Vargas. It is a win win situation. Is it possible?

3) Is it true that the new DOF will control which player that will be bought this summer? Or New manager present list of players, DOF will decide which one?

4) Have we look at striker Abel Hernandez? Luis and Coates might be able to persuade him.

Appreciate your opinion on these Eds.

Curious'LFC {Ed002's Note - (1) Not that I am aware; (2) They may return from loans but exchange deals are not common - Cole will have other options; (3) We will have to wait to see; (4) Hernandex is unlikely to leave Palermo who will be on a major spending spree this summer.}

Sven Bender?

That's a name and a half!

Eds you are saying kenny will step aside. Is these words are based on team permormance and spending or you have some information from inside the club. {Ed001's Note - it is based on my belief that a new DoF will want his own man at the helm.}

But what happens if we don't get a new DOF and only a chief scout as has been rumoured?

Ed u say that u think kenny will go because of the new DOF wanting his own man, but i thought u and ed002 thought that kenny would go even when comolli was still in the job? {Ed002's Note - I don't really know what answer you want here. You want some admission of heresy from Ed001 or what.}

Ed i want to know whether the only reason u think kenny will go is because of a new DOF or actually because of the results? are u guessing about kenny going or is it information about what the owners think
cheers hopefully it is from info about the owners views of kenny {Ed002's Note - Different Eds have different opinions. I think Dalglish will go regardless as I have explained ad nauseum. Ed001 may have different reasons.}

I don't want to sound immature but had to laugh when you said 'helm'

How long do you think Bill Shankly would have stayed having to report to a
Director of Football? Having a d o f of any description will certainly have an adverse effect on the quality of manager
to be attracted.

Former Chelsea boss Andre Villas-Boas could make a return to management with Spanish side Valencia. (Daily Express hmmmmmmmm could this be a hint emry to liverpool what you think people and EDS.

Scouse Ben

Eds do you think this could be true#? {Ed002's Note - Emery will certainly be leaving Valecia. The rest is speculation.}

Emery is out of contract and Valencia being what they are cant see how good he is and are not offering a new contract. AVB has already turned down the job there though. Rafa might go back apparrently

I've heard that the biggest restrictions on the club's summer transfer activity is not the actual transfer fees but the ongoing wage bill. The owners are prepared to compete in every way ie; pay top transfer fees and pay top wages for the highest quality players, but they want to overall wage bill reduced. So when people talk about big changes this summer, it will be in the form of trimming the squad and a few high quality additons. No huge surprise but like last summer expect big efforts to be made to ensure Cole, Aquilani, Pacheco and other fringe players are offloaded (Aurelio released). The club are encouraging offers for Johnson, Maxi and Kuyt. David Dein is very much wanted by the owners in some capacity as they like his financial model from his time at Arsenal.

Does this mean we will start selling our top players every summer and go trophy-less year after year like Arsenal do? {Ed002's Note - No but it means that high earning players who are not part of the primamry first team squad and are on the fringe will move on. Most of this was done last summer (El Zhar, Degan etc.). It also means that there will likely be more younger players stepping up to take those roles - perhaps Robinson, Morgan, Gulacsi, Adorjan etc. with Suso, Sterling etc. following on a year later.}

Ed's/Macca
Great job!
If you dont mind answering, which of these 3 players do you see as the best option for a goalscorer and what are our realistic chances of getting them?
1,Luuk De Jong
2,Jackson Martinez

Secondly, what are our chances with Gaston Ramirez of Bologna?

Appreciate any answers

Chris {Ed002's Note - As I have said previously Gaston Ramirez has been watched by Liverpool but I still remain unsure as to how strong the interest is from the club. This all dates back to before the January window and if the club were that interested then he was available in January for about 15M euro plus a signing on fee - but Liverpool did not follow up on their initial enquiry. However, Ramirez will move in the summer with interest being shown by Napoli, Inter Milan, Palermoand Juventus, who have made a firm offer. Unsubstantiated rumours suggest Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Manchester City, Spurs, Barcelona, Chelsea and Real Madrid are also interested. Sevilla were interested but I understand that Ramirez has no interest in such a move. At present, Napoli are very much favourites for his signature. Discussions have now taken place between Bologna and Napoli - adding to discussions that have taken place with Juventus. And Napoli are very much favourites for his signature at this time. His agent remains as talkative as ever but as of March 30 there has been no offer to Bologna for the player from any English club - and this has been confirmed by his club, and now his agent.}

Hey Ed's, with Johnson being for sale in the summer, have we at all looked at Van der Wiel as a possible replacement? Cheers {Ed002's Note - Van Der Wiel will probably move in the summer and his preference remains Spain - and something may yet be worked out with Valencia. Real Madrid have also shown an interest in the player. Chelsea may maintain an interest but they remain more interested in Azpilicueta.}

Ed if johnson was to go to madrid. could see you us trying to do some type of swap deal for xabi. of course wed have to give some money going there way but just wondering {Ed001's Note - I very much doubt they would let him go yet.}

Hi Eds,

Some interesting stories going round this morning, in particular to Aqualani and Cole, in relato Aqualani, he has to play in another 4 games for AC Milan in order to to trigger clause and with 5 games left he apparently having second thoughts. So this begs the question;
does he have a future at LFC should the move fail to materialise, could he yet be given a second chance?

In relation to Cole, Lille basically have said they cant afford his wages, Cole wont be given a second chance IMO, nor does he deserve it.

Rebel_Red {Ed002's Note - I don't see that Aquilani will play for Liverpool again.}

If Rafa comes back, which he may do, then surely aqua man can have a future with us. Quality player, just needs to get his head right

Bring aqua back, got better touch and vision then any midfielder we have now!

I still see Aquilani as the reason why we aren't in 4th or 5th. I believe we should play a 4-5-1 when playing a lone striker like Carroll or Suarez alone. Gerard and Lucas at Central Airfield and Aquilani at CAM. This makes us mote potent. Add Bellers right and Downing left......

After seeing all the Martinez rumours on here I have spoke to a few people who are usually reliable and in the know. Most of them said they had heard the rumours but have nothing solid and cant say whether they are more than just rumours. Since I trust there knowledge of whats going on (even though it has been limited since the new owners came in), Im not going to believe this one until something more reliable comes out.

Thought I would share the info even if they might be wrong.

Any info you could get hold of Eds or Macca would be great.

RAH, YNWA

Thank you for confirming this rumour as a rumour. I have also consulted my people who are in the know and they also say its a rumour, based solely on the fact its been described as a rumour. I appreciate wasting my time reading something that could of been summed up in five words, namely 'Matinez is just a rumour'. If you have any other insights please let us know

Ah, so one should wait for proof of something before you believe it is true! Damn, thats what I have been doing wrong all my life. This man is a philosopher.

Henry & Tom both strongly involved in the matters.
Lots of things happening behind closed doors atm.

I expect some announcement regarding DOF to be made sometime around after the FA Cup final and that mid week Chelsea game.

Also I feel we are in the hunt for a big name striker, some one the management is confident who can score 20-25 goals per season for us.

I am not an ITK nor I am acting or claiming to be.
Just passing what I hear and what I expect might happen.

Armando

Henry and tom would be strongly involved in the matters. they own the club, so thats a no brainer. they also conduct all business behind closed doors, thats their way and the liverpool way. so no suprises there. we have no dof, and the club want one and as tom werner said last week we are looking for one urgently, also dont have to be einstien to work out the club would like a striker who can score 20-25 goals a season. all in all a total waste of your time posting this drivel.

This is all completely obvious

Martin

So were waiting for a new Dof.

Who may want a new manager.

So who is exactly signing these new players,who may not suit a sysyem of play or charachter assesment of a possible new boss. {Ed002's Note - Clubs change directors and managers all of the time and save some tweaking just get on with it. It won't be any different at Liverpool.}

Ricky Van Wolfswinkel is quite a big name.
If big names are your thing.:)

I would settle for the right players.
This isn't a fashion show.

Another big Dutch name: Johannes "Jan" Vennegoor of Hesselink :)

Leeds United recently released Ben Parker, a good youngster who plays left back, heard many reports we could land him for reserves. any more news on this?

If Leeds have released him why would he be good enough for us? We already have a good young left back in Robinson and a couple of other,younger lads that could do well.
CR

He's almost 25, injury prone and recently released by a mid-table Championship club. Why would we want him sorry?

He is wanted by mufc, anyone who get interest from them deserves a try

He is not wanted by manchester united. where do people get this stuff?

Am afraid man united are interested, parker is in talks as we speak, so not a chance were going after him, man united - manchester united look to have beaten of strong competition from sheffield united and doncaster rovers to land a highly rated 24 year old, ben parker

Eds, do you think if di matteo doesn't get the chelsea job there's a chance he could come to us?
LTIMK {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

It's John Terry that runs that team, not him.

No way i will lable his tactics anti-football and i do not want him to replace kenny's good tactics. it is understandable to play with 10 defenders in his teams position against barcelona but all in all he is too defensive

On odds checker, bookies wont take bets on guardiola becoming LFC boss for next season

Liverpool to sign

nolito (benfica)
adam johnson (man city)
victor moses (wigan)
soldado (valencia)

carroll to leave
adam
johnson
maxi all to leave

That's not really true. He just isn't offered. That might mean that the bookies think he is a shoo-in OR that no-one wants to out money on him.

Probably because no one is stupid enough to place hard earned money on it?

Tristan

From what I understand, he has been FSG first choice ever since they took over. So you never know . . .

Guardiola? Barca's Manager, they have just lost 2 and drawn the other in their last 3 games; Totally dominating possession, hitting the woodwork 6 times and missing a penalty. Sounds very much like he's nailed on for us:))))))))))
kidmillions

That's because the bookies have a morale code of not taking money off the clinically insane!.

Hey Ed's i just read some reports that aquilani might have to return to liverpool because milan don't want him , so i was saying why don't liverpool try to offload him to a team like napoli , (surely they would be interested in him) and than we could have a chance in landing cavani , the pluses will be firstly aquilani will be off our books meaning more wages , secondly suarez and sab coates could play a role in luring him to anfield and lastly i think it doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that we are dire straits of a clinical finisher and surely the owners know that by now so i don't think money to buy the player would be an issue so do you's think it could happen ? thanks {Ed002's Note - Cavani is not going to be moving to Liverpool regardless of what happens with Aquilani.}

Good morning Ed's, just wondering why do you think that Cavanni would not move to us, the likes of city and chelsea are interested yes, but whats to say he may be tempted with the likes of Suarez and Coates, your so adamant he won't consider us but you won't give no reason why. {Ed002's Note - Manchester City, Real Madrid, Juventus and Chelsea maintain an interest in Cavani. As has been explained Real Madrid wished to fund a bid through selling Higuain in January to Chelsea and having Chelsea step back from bidding. Cavani has an initial preference for Madrid rather than London and no interest in moving to Manchester. Probably something that will get more publicity in the summer. Liverpool have shown no interest in the player and do not have the money to buy the player.}

Sorry but you say we do not have the money to buy this player, yes we spent big last year and will not make that money back by selling players. However if these owners want someone to put the ball away week in week out then surely they must realise they have to take a dip and spend big, to me they will do this and because they're looking for success, and with you being so sure he won't personally in no dis resepect i hope your prooven wrong, because as usual you shut people out with you 'Knowledge' {Ed002's Note - How much debt would you like the club to go in to? How many 40M and 50M players can they afford? I was asked my opinion about why I thought Cavani would not be joining Liverpool - and I gave it.}

Why would any club want to do us a favour by taking Aquilani of our hands? Just because we don't want him doesn't mean that the likes of Napoli HAVE to take him.

Read that Liverpool actually signed Jackson Martinez. If this was just asked I apologize didn't see anything about him recently. If it's true do you think he can make a decent impact in the premier league? Thanks

Mike
