I think if couts leaves woodburn should be given a chance instead of bringing in a replacement.

Donnyred92. Would love that too but unfortunately won't happen. Woodburn would have a couple of bad games which is expected at his age and everyone would be on his case every opportunity . A player of coutinho quality needs to be replaced with quality and I'm not saying like for like. We all know the problems in the team and I don't know about everyone else but if I was offered the chance of selling coutinho for x amount and sign oblak and vvd for similar amount of money I think that would overall make us a better team even losing a world class player like coutinho.

Exactly IR89. If we lost two or three games in a row once coutinho leaves twitter, the papers and prob this site would be flooded with people saying we didn't replace coutinho.

I do agree IR89 and it's a shame that that is how the modern game is. But I also agree that if couts leaves we should really aim to focus on shoring up our defence before looking for a direct replacement. In a perfect world it would be great if he had a change of heart and we sorted the defence too haha but can't see that happening.

I like Woodburn but he is basically a stick figure currently, he needs to gain some muscle in order to play regularly in the prem.

Agreed, Woodburn has huge potential but IMO needs gradually introducing to first team football.
