I sincerely hope so. Fantastic in our midfield and I would put him as one of our starters every week šŸ‘šŸ¼.

Hello Edā€™s and reds, saw a report that we have had a Ā£50m bid turn down by Napoli for koulibaly, and the Napoli owner wants Ā£90+ million for him! Any truth in tjo.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any bid from Liverpool for Kalidou Koulibaly nor even an approach to discuss the player with Napoli. However Napoli are open to a high offer in the summer (that would be the desired circa ā‚¬100M minimum or perhaps ā‚¬80M would be acceptable). It is a lot of money for a 29 year old - and Napoli are already in discussions over his replacement.}

Cheers Ed. 29 wow didnā€™t realise he was that old.
It would be an odd move to pay that for a 29 year old I agree šŸ‘šŸ¼.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - A very good player but at the point where Napoli will cash in and bring in a much younger player and do it all over again.}

24 Jun 2020 16:15:22
Suppose we could throw Lovren in the deal and get Ā£10 off the price šŸ˜‰.

{Ed002's Note - They have a replacement lined up.}

Itā€™s just reporters having cabin fever and making up even more ridiculous things than usual.

Liverpool wonā€™t pay that price. Sure someone like ManU will pay - see Maguire example!

I think weā€™ll look for a left footed centre back who can cover left back as well if we do buy a centre back.

I don't get these Koulibaly rumours at all. Gomez is too good to be dropped. Agree with 6times, leftsided CD who is comfortable at LB makes more sense.

Agreed Andy, we looked better last night with Gomez and VVD than we did against Everton with Lovren/ Matip and VVD. I honestly think we'd be wasting money going large on that position at this stage.

Hi Eds, seen the echo saying that reports in Portugal are suggesting that Liverpool have an interest in Nuno Mendes at Sporting. Do you have any further information on this?
Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I don't know but there was interest from Manchester United in Nuno Mendesat the start of the year - but it went nowhere when they were asked for ā‚¬25M for a 17 or 18 year old. It seems to be an odd thing for Liverpool to be spending even half that on a player for the youth team at this point.}

Hello Eds
Recently there is widespread rumour of adama traore heading towards lfc for 30 mil and origi .
What do you guys think about this?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Twitter is this? It would mean one less striker but a Salah replacement for Liverpool.}

24 Jun 2020 13:54:07
ed002 I don't see that happening but Origi never seem to play down the middle anyway I think Salah and Mane play down the middle more. And by what I have seen so far ed it looks like Minamino might play the Bobby role as back up. I don't think Traore fits are team as he seem right winger the goes down the wing to cross rather than cutting inside like Mane and Salah and will seem to be in the way of Trent. Timo would have been the right type of forward ed from the left of down the middle and would fit are system better.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Origi has played on the left or as a striker.}

25 Jun 2020 06:05:26
For me i don't see what traore would add in terms of his play that Alex oxlade chamberlain couldn't give us. Getting past a full back on the outside and whipping in a cross can be done by players we currently have instead of wasting money. He's not a player who probes and attacks the goal with runs in behind like mane and salah can, his strengths are playing in the spaces that Trent uses to attack and it wouldn't make sense to fit him in at the expense of limiting one of our best weapons as a result.

Hi Ed002,

Stricly this isn't Liverpool related but i think it potentially impacts future transfers by Liverpool and other clubs.

Due to the current financial difficulties facing most clubs, do you predict an increase in 3rd party owernship of players (in the countries that allow it - e. g. Portugal) . I am just thinking in respect of a number of talented youngsters in S. America. European clubs may not be able to pay as much as they have done historically which opens up a bigger door for 3rd parties to help finance the deal - which then makes things complicated down the line if those players wish to move to a league which doesn't allow 3rd party ownership.

Really interested to hear your thoughts.

{Ed002's Note - It is a mixed answer. In Brazil in particular we are seeing clubs sell part of the player rights to third parties - at the lowest level, sponsorship is being obtained through the sale of part ownership of players to local businesses. And there has been an increase in that.

There is a strange situation in Spain where Spurs wanted to buy a player but it was two complex to sort out: Emerson (RWB) A complicated situation where the part owned player had a 50% stake in his ownership sold to Barcelona by Atletico Mineiro and the other 50% stake in his ownership sold to Real Betis by Ponte Preta with a final resolution of ownership needed by June 30, 2021 (currently registered with Barcelona and loaned to Real Betis). Real Betis will not want to sell their stake unless they can make a significant profit from the sale and FIFA rules mean that neither side can influence the other. To allow a transfer to England, where third party ownership is not allowed for new signings, will be difficult and expensive, with a third party agent/lawyer required to undertake all negotiations.

In reality, across Europe, including Portugal, TPO is banned now and the situation with players such as Emerson arriving from Brazil, sees clubs commit to resolve the situation within a fixed period. It will continue in South America.}

Morning Edā€™s and Reds,

Seeing a bit of frenzy occurring as a Christian Falk has come out suggesting that Thiago Alcantara has ceased contract negotiations with Bayern and ā€œwants to join Liverpoolā€. This all seems a little fanciful and his injury record is more than troubling. That, plus he is 29 makes this a little less than convincing, however, I thought I would bring it to you and would be grateful if you could advise if there is any interest from Liverpool in the player?

Thanks for your time, as always.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest in the player from Liverpool but Bayern Munich were aware it was possible he would want to leave and have identified two options to replace him if he were sold.}

Really appreciate your swift response Ed, thank you. Have a good day.

He may ā€œwantā€ to join us. But heā€™s of absolutely no use to us whatsoever, he doesnā€™t fit into our system, heā€™s too lightweight for the premier league, heā€™s too old and too injury prone.

Thiago could walk into just about any midfield in the world.

Ed,
Do you think LFC are being mentioned to drive up the price? Seems like a move to Barcelona would make a lot of sense if Arthur is truly leaving.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any approach from Liverpool nor Barcelona. He would command a high fee and at 29 would not give much of a return.}
