James pearce from the Echo has just said "Mane is very likely, i'd be surprised if he didn't sign".

Obviously doesn't mean its done but backs up what ed002 has been telling us.

Time to get behind the player and support him as this one looks very likely to happen. Price isn't his fault. Hopefully Klopp can sort his attitude out.

Totally agree. I think we all know that he is undoubtedly talented.
Also if we can keep coutinho and firmino I think its a pretty exciting looking 3. Keep lallana, Milner as back up. Along with matip, grujic, karius and potentially chilwell if we van move on a few I'd say its a pretty good transfer window. Y. N. W. A.

we clearly need to sell some players. I see this as a possible replacement for Coutinho or maybe more players. FFP and our lack of European football must mean a lean squad, not more £30m players coming in, unless there are significant sales.

Christian Benteke exactly 12 months ago was ". Support the player. "
If people actually mean what they say, He wouldn't have been on the receiving end of whole sale abuse.

Agree7 Disagree9

25 Jun 2016 00:41:34
Stupid comment about benteke a lot of people would support the player but problem is he showed such a lack of effort or desire to do well.

Agree12 Disagree7

25 Jun 2016 02:27:40
All these comments about Mane being over price is just football fans familiarity breeding contempt. seriously if Mane were to come from any european league, the lfc fans will not bat eyelid over 30 mil fee, but just bcos he is from Southampton he is over price.

Tv Money may be able to support a larger squad in terms of wages, but were still restricted in a named squad for the Premier League. Look at how Flanno missed out on Europe last season. Our squad is too big. Need to sell a fair few players.

{Ed002's Note - It is not as simple as that Andy.}

25 Jun 2016 09:09:53
Given that Nathan Redmond is undergoing a medical at Southampton I'd agree that this signing is very close to happening. Often you'll see a club replacing a player before they sell them so it's a nice bit of evidence backing the point.

25 Jun 2016 09:25:26
Wasn't Mane the one who costs us the 3 points at the Saints in second half and also our CL ambitions? When I saw him played against us I was like who the hell is that guy terrorising our midfield and defence. But then so did Benteke haha.

Agree0 Disagree3

25 Jun 2016 10:09:27
I think he's overpriced because his attitude stinks and secondly he went missing at Southampton for part of the season, I'd much rather take Lucas moura. Or straight swap with benteke sounds fair, isn't pelle going back to italy.

Agree3 Disagree4

25 Jun 2016 00:32:37
I'm sorry I can't support this transfer. I don't care what anybody says. It's a wrong thing to do bringing Mane in. he may be talented but his attitude it out there in pluto. we make the same mistake every single time. about time we learnt, but never do. its getting beyond a joke. paying over the odds for him.

Agree3 Disagree7

25 Jun 2016 10:53:58
We've turned to Mane because we couldn't get Gotze. Mane was/ is our 2nd choice. The fee is steep, but it looks like the transfer is happening, so let's get behind the lad.

Agree0 Disagree8

25 Jun 2016 11:08:49
Difficulty is, we want a winger, we won't get the likes of Reus and Goetze has said no. So where do we go? Mane, for all his issues, is proven in the league, is skillful and quick. What are our other options? Walcott? No thanks, would cost as much as Mane but is half as good. Oxlade Chamberlain? No thanks, expensive and a very poor footballer as well as having Aidy Ward as his agent. Andros Townsend? NO! Nani? As if I have to explain!? Like I say best we can get. Not what I'd like, but I'll support him in a red shirt if he joins.

Agree4 Disagree2

25 Jun 2016 11:56:52
I don't understand why people wouldn't be behind this transfer? Mane is proven in the league and at 24 can improve. And how many players in the league are actually 100% consistent? Also lucas from psg runs into blind alleys on a constant basis and only scored nine from midfield in an awful league last season. Gotze clearly isn't interested but who can say even he would be any good judging by his rubbish performances in the euros? Once again it seems fans want some foreign name we barely know and hope he can actually adapt to the league. Mane is actually proven and if chelsea or united went for him it wouldn't be a suprise. i'm not a blind follower of klopp but he clearly wants pace coming from midfield and attidute canbe controlled under the right manager. Koeman is clearly different to Klopp in how he interacts with players so i don't think we can say immediately that he will be a problem.

Agree3 Disagree2

{Ed002's Note - Manchester United and Bayern Munich both showed an interest in Mane - Bayern stepped back because they saw the cost as far too high. Manchester United seem to have stepped back for reasons unknown to me.}

25 Jun 2016 16:10:13
Ed002 didn't know Bayern looked at him. Knew the mans were after him.

Agree0 Disagree2

25 Jun 2016 16:55:16
If Mane is the only marquee signing, it is a big let down.

In fact even otherwise it is a letdown.

We better call ourselves Southampton second 11. Yes it is over the top but feel really bad.

Wish we bought someone unknown and we would have still supported but Mane?

Agree2 Disagree8

25 Jun 2016 18:00:49
Rather Mane than Yarmelenko. Besides if he signs, back him, on song he can destroy defences. Let's help him settle.

Eds have we rejected an offer from Swansea for Joe Allen? Are they still the most likely destination for him.

Believable2 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - Swansea approached Liverpool in respect of taking Joe Allen on loan in January - it was rebuffed but they have returned with an offer for buying him - but it falls short of the asking price and has been rejected. Away from the Premier League Sevilla and Lille have both spoken with his agent regarding potential opportunities for the player. Interest from Celtic is there but I don't see how they could put a package together for the palyer that is acceptable.}

24 Jun 2016 14:03:45
Cheers for reply ed. I like him as a player but he isn't quite good enough for us imo.

Agree4 Disagree6

24 Jun 2016 16:44:49
I think he would be great in French or Spanish league.

Said ages ago has been impressive for Wales in qualifiers and has continued into Euros

Just don't think hustle and bustle at 100mph in the EPL is his game.

Agree0 Disagree2

27 Jun 2016 08:43:24
Joe allen needs to be given some games on the bounce in my opinion, He comes in and for me impresses but doesn't get the nod when someone returns from injury, Watch how he plays for Wales when he knows he is getting the nod each game he looks a different player and his passing range is actually starting to make BR sound as if had some sense. Must keep Joe.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - what on earth? He has never impressed in our midfield. Impressing in international football is irrelevant, it is a totally different world to the Premier League. Allen needs to go. He is simply not good enough, he does not have the intelligence or ability on a football pitch in Premier League conditions to control a game.}

24 Jun 2016 09:07:41
Couple of rumours this morning.

1) Crystal Palace interested in Benteke. Be quite funny if this one goes through, considering Pardew labelled him 'a cheat' after the league game at Selhurst Park

2) Liverpool linked again with Neven Subotic. In my opinion, we should have signed him instead of Stephen Caulker. I just didn't get the Caulker signing at all.

One things for sure. With Toure gone, and Skrtel looking like leaving, plus the Sakho situation, a new CB should definitely be brought in, maybe even 2.

Believable11 Unbelievable8

24 Jun 2016 09:45:34
"Maybe even two"?

What, as well as Matip? What are we going to do with 3 new centre backs?

Agree13 Disagree1

24 Jun 2016 10:31:21
Play a back 6? 4 centre backs in between Chilwell and Clyne. Put Origi, Balotelli and Benteke up front as they are all tall and just hoof it up to them. No need for a proper midfield. Just have the new signing of Toni Kroos sitting in front of the back six for his accurate forward hoofs!

24 Jun 2016 10:01:44
The Crystal Palace rumour seems to have the s** as its only source. Nuff said.

Caulker was brought in on loan.

Agree8 Disagree0

24 Jun 2016 11:23:26
GingerLfc, didn't realize that that rag was printing the Benteke story. I realise Caulker was a loan signing, but that's my point. I'd rather we'd bought Subotic (a player Klopp knows well) rather than loan in a CB from the Championship, who is now no longer at the club, and was primarily a 'stop gap' signing.

24 Jun 2016 11:50:20
You've made my morning Adam. lmao.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Jun 2016 18:01:12
I don't think we need another centre back with Matip, Lovren and Sakho in the squad as senior centre backs and Square Tomato confirming that Gomez is expected to be the 4th choice.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jun 2016 20:04:52
The Real AG, I think one of the Eds said Gomez would go out on loan - not that I would agree with LFC if they chose that. Subotic would be an excellent signing, but that would be an immense rotation (Subject to injuries) and I think a center back pairing consistently used is key to a strong defence.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2016 22:46:05
Eds in your opinion do you think Liverpool will sign mane? IMO I think this will be an awful purchase considering the hugely inflated price that we are reportedly considering to pay, him being utterly average and his behavioural issues.

Believable7 Unbelievable7

{Ed001's Note - he is not average, his performances are excellent, it is purely his attitude that is an issue. We have shown a willingness to pay what it takes at times, and other times we try and skimp, so I have no idea.}

24 Jun 2016 06:43:16
Agree he has the X factor, think he could add a really dangerous edge to the side if Klopp can manage him well.

Agree17 Disagree1

24 Jun 2016 07:27:39
ed001 - has his attitude been a major problem at his current and previous clubs? what are we talking about here, we can't have any more golf club type incident lol

Zimbo i totally agree, he could be very dangerous if those behind him are able to adapt to JKs style of play and get their distribution on point.

I get why lots of folks are worried, we have a history of overpaying for average players but as the eds have said price is based on an individual basis therefore a large Mane fee doesn't logically lump him in the same bracket.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - yes his attitude has been a problem, Koeman repeatedly dropped him from the squad over it.}

24 Jun 2016 07:34:47
Oh wow that doesn't sound too promising but maybe its a maturity thing. I would imagine that getting dropped requires you to be rather insubordinate. Cheers for the info mate.

Agree4 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he is defo immature. Whether or not Klopp could fix that is the main question.}

24 Jun 2016 07:41:25
If he cannot not, maybe we bring Bellamy and make them roommates.

Agree12 Disagree0

24 Jun 2016 08:54:40
Hopefully klopp will talk with him before he signs telling him what's expecting if he joins.

The one good thing Brendan left behind for a deal like this is a solid group of characters. The negative is there all yes men so when were down there's noone to smack someone in to shape, a souness for example. But we have a group that listens in training and has bought well into klopps methods, so long as we don't disturb that with 50 odd sales and buys, mane coming in to a solid group like that might help calm him down aswel and if he benefits from klopps. methods, ie goes and has a mahrez season it might knock him into a better place.

I like him when I see him have a stormer on motd, just seen him so many times live wander around or be dropped. I know oayet was meant to have a bad attitude and something clicked for him at west ham. Players like vardy had bad ones to.

Ballotelli is the big put off but aslong as he doesn't cost 40 nilion let's give mane a chance.

Would love 25 mil and ibe going the other way on a 2 year loan after signing a new 5 year deal here. Still think that kids got it myself.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Jun 2016 10:19:52
We shouldn't be put off by Balotelli, Benteke and Carroll type comparisons, none of these suited out style of play but Mnae 100% does. Likewise who cares if we are buying from Southampton too often, as far as I'm concerned I couldn't care less where we recruit from if they are the right players.

I firmly believe Mane has the talent and skills we need to need to make he most of the vision and trickery of Firmino and Coutinho (assuming Mane would be playing a Volland type role) and can add goals we sometimes struggle to find. If we were one down vs. Mn Utd in a cup final next year, who would you rather see subbed on, Mane or Milner?

Only major question in my mind is if Klopp can get he best out of him in a Liverpool shirt. I certainly hope so.

Agree5 Disagree1

24 Jun 2016 13:53:51
Could it be mane was trying to force move to bigger prem club.

Agree2 Disagree0

24 Jun 2016 14:56:28
I can't say he was my first choice of who we should sign in all honesty, but if he joins the team I wish him all the best and hope that he can become an integral part of Liverpool.

Agree3 Disagree0

24 Jun 2016 20:08:51
Mane is good, young and talented. Maybe in the right team, with the right nurturing he could become a great player. I hope we don't pay £30 mil as that seems steep in my opinion, but none of us are the manager and Klopp knows what he wants, so if he arrives welcome to the club and enjoy. Give him a big welcome and he will want to play for us all, who can resist. this is Liverpool.

Agree1 Disagree0

25 Jun 2016 11:58:06
Let's support the lad if he signs. I remember suarez was labeled bad news, bad attitude and all that before we signed him. yes he had that about him but what a signing that was. i'm sure klopp is aware of any issues with attitude.
