A bit off track ed i know, just like to ask Irish Kev what part of Ireland he's from.Got a lot of family over their myself in Co Clare.And i just noticed your an Mma fan, i knows their are other forums for this but do you think Wanderlei will crush Leben or other way round.Should sign Thiago Silva, not the Milan centre back but a Brazilian light heavyweight fighter of the same name. Belive me no one would get passed him he's a monster. Sorry ed just that first time i've seen Ufc come up on the site and i get a bit giddy. My perfect weekend is watch Ufc sat night Sun morning, play footy for a crud Sunday league team half asleep cause event has kept me up all night.Then watch Liverpool if they were on T.V when i got back.Now that were back to Saturday footy due to no Europa league might play a bit better cause dem ufc events come thick and fast. I'm from Cork by way of Liverpool mate(parents moved to Ireland from Liverpool just before i was created lol).
To tell ya the truth, i have missed the most recent UFC meetings as have been quite busy trying to get my new business up & running (the last UFC event i saw was St. Pierre's most recent title defence in Canada - UFC 123 i think?!).
To answer your other question - Wanderlei is a class act in my opinion & should destroy Leben inside 2 rounds i reckon but you never know as Leben has a hammer of a left hand & a decent chin!
So Wanderlei to stop him in the second round with a knee (really sticking my neck on the line here lol).
The one i really want to see is St. Pierre vs Anderson Silva!
They are ridiculously good as you know but i fear St. Pierre would spoil a lot & try to win on the ground which would be a little boring - but who knows?!
I think we should sign Cain Valasquez myself - what an animal!

Downing is defo staying @ villa and the saga is just a way to make the public think we are signing a mediocre winger with rubbish pace who is fairly old compared to fsg rules in buying youth anyway apparently the real target is Charles nzogbia and a bid of £10m has been accepted I know people think he is bad but put aside the club he is @ he is genuinely gifted and is much better faster and stronger(mentally and physically) than stu well that is all I know and also the rumors regarding Nara are true but no deal will be done til at least 2nd week of July

Friend that is a scout just told me Liverpool are going about everything quietly. They do not want other clubs interfering with our top targets, also preventing a bidding war. He would not tell me names or clubs, so these would go through, but he did say that there is 5 bids out there right now. 3 of these bids are over 20 Million Pounds. He expects the majority of business to go on after the under 21 Euro, and Copa America.
Kenny is not looking to sign mediocre players, he is going with talent and youth. Kenny is not looking to finish just top 4 next year! Kenny, Gerrard and Jamie are looking to lift # 19 next year!

Without sounding disrespectful, I thought that he just received a hefty fine of about £450k and wasn't sacked. {Ed001's Note - ok I am just going on what the news reports said earlier, they were claiming he was sacked after showdown talks. On top of the fine I mean, but you are right, I just checked, the news reports must have jumped the gun as the club are merely saying they are getting rid.}

I'd imagine most of the readers of this website reacted in the same way as myself when people continually regurgitated rumours of Xabi Alonso's return recently.
That being one of pessimism and a huge doubt.
Make of the following what you will;
A mate of mine knows the manager of Formby Hall Golf Course. Kenny Dalglish was there over the last week or two and whilst he was there a helicopter landed at the course, Xabi Alonso was apparantly in the helicopter and spoke to Dalglish. By now you're probably, as I would be, thinking this is rubbish, but it's from someone that has no reason to lie!
I asked for this rumour to be posted about two weeks ago, but the eds didnt post it.
I live in Southport and everyone gossips here so you never know what is true or false. However same as my fellow liverpool fan here, my mate works at the bar of Formby Hall Golf Club, has no interest in football and mentioned how Alonso was picked up by Kenny and taken away from the course for the day, leaving his helicopter parked in the car park.
It does seem odd going for Xabi as he does not meet the buy young policy, however I have got it into my head that his signing might be a way of pleasing the fans, since we are only looking at getting premiership proven players this transfer window.
One more thing is this rumour of Rodwell coming to Liverpool. My mate plays golf with him reguarly and Jack mentioned how he was looking to buy his own house in Southport but is unsure due to him not knowing where he is going to end up. This to me shows how Rodwell could end up anywhere and squashes the dead cert rumours of him coming to Liverpool. Please post this time ed! {Ed001's Note - it was posted a billion times the day he was over. I got bored of reading it and deleted the repeats. Everyone knows he was there, he is in Liverpool a number of times a season, it is not news.}

About the Xabi Alonso golf course thing.. yeah it may be true but they can't have spoken about transfers because that would be tapping up. Unless of course a fee has already been agreed or Real Madrid said they could talk to liverpool. Doubtful though.

I've seen this lad play, and in my opinion he's a world class player with a great attitude to the game! Turned Madrid down in 2008 to stay with villarreal which takes alot! The fact madrid were seriously interested in signing him shows how good he is.
I don't know if this is generally known but he is ambidextrous which for a footballer must be greatly beneficial. Him on the right and a good left winger (Mata maybe) would be the perfect supply for Carroll. Also Mata and Cazolra where the only two players outside of Real Madrid and Barcelona to get into the La Liga team of the year this year I am lead to believe? Not 100% on that.

Alberto Aquilani's agent has said he is on the way back to Liverpool.
Not sure how I feel about this, he is a good player but as the Ed's have said he is not too interested in playing for Liverpool. So wonder where that leaves this whole situation.

ED's Do you think the possible return of Aquilaini would be a positive thing for Liverpool. I personally believe that he could make a real positive impact next season from what i saw of him last season at Juve. We are defo not gonna recoup all of the £20 million that we spent on him so i think it is worth taking a bit of a punt and giving him another chance. I was just wondering your thoughts on this. {Ed002's Note - No I don't. I am sick of answering this question over and over again. Adam: Took a little longer than i expected but it will 100% now be completed the only problem was Oysten and he is finally talking, anyday now. FEE 8 to 10 Million
Mata: My sources tell me this is very likely, i dont buy into the man united thing and neither do my sources (they have heard nothing), we have had advanced discussions with Matas agent and he wants to come. 75%. FEE 20 to 25 Million
Wickham: Done deal simple as. FEE 8 Million rising to 10 depending on apperances.
Johnson: i now consider this unlikely, i was more confident he would come a week ago, Man city hate selling to rivals, 30%. FEE 20 Million
Downing: Still very exspensive, but a good player and he has been marked by KK, still not sure about the price though, 40%. FEE 18 to 20
Clichy: Pretty likely, although Roma did lodge a bid he would much rather come to us Arsene will be convinced if we offer the same as Roma, 65%. FEE 8 to 9 Million
Alonso: There was interest but he was to exspensive at the moment however he will most likely sign back for us next year, 10%, next year 80%. FEE this year 20 Million, Next year 12 Million.

I am the one who said we would not buy charlie Adam. Well it looks like I am wrong; according to the Blackpool Gazzete, D.C. is in talks With Mr oyston to finalise a deal tomorrow. K.K. has the managerial skill and knows a good player when he sees one. But I feel he and D.C have got this one wrong.( What do yuou think ed ?)
I know everyone talks about Mata, well in my opinion i am convinced we are signing Jefferen. He will be a cheaper option than Mata and it seeems he is pretty keen on joining us. Again in my opinion I think he's the better player and would like to see him in a Red shirt. (What's you opinion Ed?)
Lastly: I was wrong about Charlie Adam, but I am pretty confident in saying we have a very good chance of signing Cahill who will be a great addition to the Reds.

According to inside futbol lille are favourites to sign payet as our interest has cooled is there any truth in this? It goes on to say that st etienne (spelling) are wanting 12 million euros for the player which imo isn't much for a player of his talent {Ed009's Note - Lille are potentially looking at the player as a replacement for possible outgoings Gervinho and Hazard. I gave this information about alonso way back in february, I never stated he would be coming back only that he would be available and he would be interested. I can tell you though that until there is some interest from lfc he won't be coming back.
Lfc have not contacted madrid about alonso. It seems that we simply aren't interested.

Everyone needs to calm down. Still early days. If I am correct, Downing is just come back or even still on holiday. This has been the sticking point in the transfer as he isn't here. Yes, a fee hasn't been agreed but Villa aren't able to talk to him about moving. Adam, Liverpool are biding their time and waiting for a reasonable price. The transfer WILL materialise.

Will people please stop writing that Mata wont come to us because we cant offer Champions League football. His father (agent) has already stated that its not his priority and that 1st team football is. Liverpool FC are an attractive football club with great history and are within a whisker of being back in CL so there is no reason why Mata wouldn't come to us to help us get back in it!!

agreed there ed. He was average at best for fiorentina and then his inadequacies were shown for all to see at juve and the world cup. He falls over very often, his passing is awful has bad temperament and never scores goals. Oh and his view on marking is to. Stand where he is and hope that his man jogs into his path. Would be a truly woeful deal if we signed him. Lucas is vastly superior and I will actually cry if we signed him.

Graham Hunter was on the Irish radio station Newstalk lastnight and he maintains that it will take a massive bid from any club to temp them to sell Mata as Valencia are no longer in the financial mess that they were in. He was sceptical about wether or not Liverpool would be willing to spend that kind of money on a player who may not be fresh enough to adapt to the physical demands of the English Premiership as he has spent the last two summers playing competitive football with little or no rest. I am a big Liverpool Fan and am really disheartened at the thought of losing Meireles...what is the most recent news on his situation?

I work in America, NESV are going to bankroll big this summer. They want Liverpool to be number one. They are going to propel the marketing side of things and how do you do that by big name signings and winning.
