Must be a foreign club Ed? Can you see his preference being to stay in the Premier League and if so who are the teams interested in him?

{Ed002's Note - Fabio Carvalho (AM) will be a Free Agent in the summer and has his agents talking to the likes of Bayern Munich, Chelsea, Barcelona, Borussia Dortmund and Real Madrid - all of which would be a big step up from Fulham, but all of which have a declared interest. Other clubs such as Bayer Leverkusen, Liverpool, West Ham, Leeds, Southampton and Wolves have sent scouts to watch him but it has gone no further and Fulham would be very reluctant to deal with Liverpool. The German and Spanish sides are free to negotiate a transfer as a Free Agent for the summer already. The English sides cannot do that until May. Fulham could opt to try to sell this month to ensure that they do not lose out financially. Chelsea would have a significant advantage if he were to be sold in January, but it seems very unlikely.}

Hi Ed001 and Ed002, Are the rumours of Cody Gakpo being a potential summer signing true? If so, would that mean Mane is moving on? Would appreciate an answer if you have time but my feeling is that some journalists are making 5 out of 2 plus 2. Thanks in advance.

Rejected the option to move to Bayern Munich last year as they would not give any guarantees of game time as he wants to be a starter. PSV will ask him to further extend his contract. Atalanta had an approach rejected. Has been watched by a number of sides but I am not aware of any declaring an interest.}

Love these players who want to be guaranteed game time! I’d nvr sign a player who wants that crap! If your good enough you’ll play end of!

Thanks, Ed002. I had a feeling that people are jumping the gun and turning "looking at" to some sort of firm "movement to sign". I've no doubt he's amongst a plethora of options we've looked at but it would seem strange move as of yet.

@Jay Dub Red- I actually would prefer a player who asks for guaranteed game time. For me it shows a positive attitude and a player who wants to play football.

I would seriously question any player in their prime who moves to a club just to sit on the bench.

Good on the player for wanting to actually play football.

Redhead 100 - most people think that a player who wants guarentees of game time isn't backing themselves to play well enough to earn it. The conventional logic is that if you play well enough you keep playing.

If a player signs it because he’s up to the challenge!
Do u remember Ryan sessegon? Wouldn’t come to us supposedly because he wanted guaranteed game time?
He was only a kid at the time well I’d say his career peaked already!
He’s obviously not good enough so imagine guaranteeing him playing?
Every player wants to play and you’ll play if your good enough not Cus your agent bigs u up etc!

For a player the important thing is to have self awareness of your skill level. Not every player will break into the Bayern team, and at an age of 22 you want to be in a team where you can play and grow. E. g. would you rather do this or play an Origi-sequel role? I fully appreciate that he wants to play and believes that he will have a better chance of breaking into a team like Bayern by spending more tim3 at PSV.

Asking for assurances/ guarantees over game time surely isn’t worth the paper it’s written on? But I certainly understand a player wanting to know what the manager plans to do with him. Say for instance Bellingham spoke with Dortmund and the coach said he would come into the first team and have a clear path to a starting place if good enough then he speaks to Utd and they say we will put you in the juniors/ reserves for a season/ possibly a loan with a view to breaking through into the first team squad down the line it’s clear what would be the most attractive proposition if he wants immediate game time.
I have plucked that example from thin air as I have no idea what Utd promised him with regards to game time but I do think that would have been a factor in him choosing Dortmund. People are saying back yourself to break through which is true but you need to join a club willing to give you that chance.
