Not sure if anyone actually knows the answer but is ngoo to hearts a loan to give him football or with a view to a permanent, or even a view to putting him in the shop window for the summer. Personally I rate him.
FowlerisGod

It's just for game time against more stronger apposition to see can he cope with the demands

Spoke to my mate in edinburgh, he said this is a sweetner as rogers likes calum paterson17/18 yrs right mid. Liverpool will pay most of his wages due to hearts only allowed to sigh u21 players on loan due to embargo placed on the by sfa, for not paying players wages. hope this helps

I always thought he was going to make the grade, but I don't see it now, rodgers has not given him hardly any game time even when we only had one recognised striker, lets hope it works well for him and he takes his shooting boots with him.......................andy.

Liverpool hope to complet a deal for Ismat Mirin over the weekend. They also hope to get the Coutinho situation sorted out by Monday. The player has told Milan he will either move to LFC on stay at Inter he had no intrest of going to Southampton. Liverpool won't match Southampton's offer so it's up to Milan if they are prepared to take less or keep him.
Murton Red

Not being negitive but it is a little worrying that Southampton are able to compete better in the transfer market than us!!

Theres a difference between throwing more money at a team in hopes he will sign for you because your offer is higher and actually playing the amount that the player is worth which is what Liverpool is doing.

Surely you are not suggesting F$G are lying to us fans with their repetitive 'we have money and can compete with ANYONE in the transfer market'. We are coming up against the mighty Southampton don't forget that.

Lots of whining wet lettuces posting on here. Need some therapy. Liverpool paying value and not being mugs. Simple as that.

Erleichda!

Ismat Mirin ? Great. He even looks crap on Youtube so that can't be good.

Agree with Erleichda, we've been put over the barrel far too many times before - it's refreshing to see the club being run professionally and sensibly - it hasn't happened for long enough, I hope this was of conducting business is kept up.

coutinho has agreed personal terms with southampton player to have medical saturday from a reliable source...

barmpot

Nope, he's having a medical at merseyside tomorrow, after agreeing a 5yr contract. The fee is believed to be around £9M and the player is very keen. The first paper to say that Soton had a bid accepted was the "Daily Fail" and we know how reliable they are... Inter will immediately use the money to fund a move for Belhanda whose agents have flown out to Milan to discuss a possible move.

IliveInAnfield

I would hope his medical did come from a reliable source.

McB

Reports from and in Italy say that he doesn't want to play for Southampton. If he leaves, it will be to Liverpool

LFC as brand has no pulling power!
The owners once again are making LFC a laughing STOCK in the transfer market....

Quote: "LFC as brand has no pulling power!
The owners once again are making LFC a laughing STOCK in the transfer market...."

How do you work that one out?

24 Jan 2013 23:33:49
id say there doing the opposite to making us a laughing stock in the transfer market on this occasion! They could be doing some very shrewd business and its about time we stuck to the actual valuation of players and stopped overpaying ! i'm pleased for now if we can get him for under the 10 million quoted i'd be delighted

"LFC as brand has no pulling power!
The owners once again are making LFC a laughing STOCK in the transfer market...."

So much so that, you and so many 'A' hole out there can't stop talking about us...

And just few months ago I honestly thought, that losing a player to a team like Tottenham was a shame...

Now we lose players to Southampton. What's next? Brentford? Coventry?

Whilst frustrating I think FSG are doing something brilliant, they claim no money, they drive the price of players down, and have the balls to walk away rather than pay over the odds.

They got their fingers severly burnt with Carrol and Downing, and once is unlucky, to do it again makes you look foolish.

We, me included got depressed at seemingly losing out on players but look at those players.
Dempsey - Hardly set world on fire at Spuds
Siggurson- As per Dempsey
Gaston Rameriez- Only shown glimpse at Soton

If they had buckled to pressure that would be the best part 30 million blown on average players.

It would mean no Sturridge, and no other potential players.

redphil

Southampton have just agreed personal terms with him sorry lads

Lets put it into simple terms. If I played for inter and Liverpool and southampton wanted to buy me but southampton bid was bigger to inter, I would say to inter " if you want to sell me I would prefer Liverpool boss" then boss says to me " but southampton have offered more money wouldn't you think about it" then I pause for 1sec " thought bout it boss and its definately Liverpool or ill stay here" boss says "ok chap its your call not ours which club you decide to go to. We will see what we can do" so to clear things up its us or his staying at inter but I think he be joining over the weekend.

Gezza1982 {Ed002's Note - That's not how it works of course.}

Haha once again we (Southampton) have beaten you to a good player. We spend our money well unlike Liverpool who when they do go for a decent player are beaten by us

Yeah but you (Southampton) sacked your manager who had been promoted in 2 consecutive seasons and has you 15th place at the halfway point in the season - make all the great transfers you want, if you keep that up you'll achieve nothing.

Hi Eds. With the latest influx of French players at Newcastle any chance of them offsetting their spending by selling Ben Arfa in this window? Exciting player who could play anywhere across the front and has a bit more experience than some of the other targets we are linked with.

Jason {Ed001's Note - highly unlikely.}

Nouveau château have nearly got a full team of french players.

Obertan Goufran Ben Arfa

Cabaye Marveux Sissoko

(New LB) Yanga Mbiwa Debuchy.

They are only missing a defender and keeper. Like when we had a large spanish contingent.

Ben Rose

Ben arfa would be amazing.. I doubt we would pay for him though.. He is also a little injury prone.. Would love him though.. Gets you off your seat

24 Jan 2013 20:22:27
fazio next to sign...4.5 million

I'm guessing you mean Federico from Sevilla? Linked with West Ham & Hoffenheim, not Liverpool.

24 Jan 2013 20:14:54
Hi eds, I know you've had lots of questions about Coutinho, but could you just clarify what the situation is as it stands? Thanks {Ed001's Note - the situation as I understand it, well as it stood a couple of hours ago before I went out, is that Southampton have agreed a fee. We were in talks but still a few mill short of the amount Southampton have agreed to pay, but hopeful of convincing Inter to take the lower offer. Personally I think we should walk away from it or pay the money.}

I think this brinksmanship and messing around is embarrassing for our great club

You just get this feeling that LFC are not going to sign him and this will be another bad window. Serious questions need to be asked about FSG's ambitions & finances we also need to ask about Ayre's ability as a negotiator althoug that could be hampered by FSG. When we are being outbid by Southampton and now risk losing a third player to them would suggest that we have a few problems.

Ed001 do you think we are just negotiating for negotiating sake, like with Dempsey & comolli with Suarez?

I agree with you if they want him pay the fee.

Jimbob {Ed001's Note - no, I think they just don't want to pay as much as is being asked, but we are hoping we can find a way around it.}

They are driving me crazy these owners, I understand they are trying to get value for money whilst bringing the wage bill down etc but "sometimes" you have to pay for QUALITY and if he turns out to fulfil his potential we'll be yet again kicking ourselves ffs. They are businessmen for me which is good if you want to be financially sound lurking around mid table then fine but to compete "NOW" not just keep planning for the future is no good.

Why walk? What is wrong with getting players at our price? {Ed001's Note - nothing if the selling club is willing to let them go at that price. That is not really the case here though is it? They have set a price, pay it or leave it, end of.}

I am not much bothered about us losing coutinho. What frustrates me is our lack assertion in deals and getting outbid by a small club such as soton. I do mot hink we will find it easy to get the likes of eriksen and turan without cl. Players like coutinho should be more realistic options and we miss out by 2m euros! Shame.

Same old liverpool. Messing around for a few million and losing out to clubs at the bottom of the league which is where liverpool will be carrying on at this rate. Such drawing out of a transfer is typical of the club at the moment and a disgrace and lack of respect to other clubs by undervaluing their players. If you want the player then buy him 10-12 million surely worth it for a 20 year old brazilian. We've already lost out to ramirez and the defender who has recently signed for Southampton.

FSG see our great club as a cash cow, it seems they pay more attention to battering LFC with advertisements. I totally understand that with the income of this we are able to put towards transfers however it doesn't seem that recently the money isn't being spent. As someone said before good players cost good money, we aren't attracting due to the lack of CL correct but being beaten to Ramirez and Coutinho would prove that these owners are living in a dream world if they think within a few years time we will be challenging. Our current crop is capable of 6th at best this season!

The way I see it Sturridge was a priority and he was all signed up and official on the 3rd of January obviously coutinho isn't a priority otherwise he would have bin signed earlier.so Liverpool must want the player but don't rate him worth over a certain value. We all moaned when we signed downing for 20 million yet you wanna spend big on a player that has never played in England just so we don't get outbid I say the club is doing just fine.plus we have suso that is very similar to coutinho probably a better player I'd rather spend the 10 million on a player that can go straight in 1st team and make a difference for 3seasons now not in 3seasons.

No wonder ed002 gets frustrated when finances are brought up. I am embarrassed by the personic statements by the posters on this rumour.

s

Davross
We spent 15 m for allen who cannot get into the first team. If we sign PC tomorrow you will be the first person to start talking highly about him. We could not get dempsey for 2m. It is not anout the player, it is about our policies

We were never in for ramirez!! rodgers told forren to go to southampton if he wants first team football!! twitter is a disease!

I think my point was mis understood I was trying to say that Liverpool value a player based on what they think he can bring to the club and sell on value. So therefore there not just going to pay what is asked are they if they don't think the player is worth that or if they have other/similar targets in mind for less money or similar .

Man city ready bid £40 mill for suarez in this window to beat Peps summer swoop

Yeah they've also prepared a £60m bid for Gerrard as well lol

What a load of rubbish they'll have to sell Balotelli ore another attacker before they bought anyone in

If the owners even consider selling Suarez for as little as 40m then they will never step foot in Anfield ever again. Might aswel give our stars away. Outside Messi and Ronaldo he's probably the most valuable player in the world.

BS and you sure know it aswell.

He s value in this window would be a lot more than that.

And I suspect IF he does leave in the summer it will be out of England.

Lets just wait and see. I am extremely confident he won't leave this window anyhow barring someone coming in with a 70 million pound bid which won't happen either/

I would tell City £80m or forget it, worked for United with ronaldo. Don't think Suarez is ready to leave just yet though, as long as the press stop hounding him. Think the lad does have some loyalty.

Would prefer to keep him for many years to come, but if it is inevitable that he will leave this should be the value we demand.

IMH

As I keep telling all you guys that keep saying Suarez will leave in this window you're off your heads.With just a week to go to the window closing where do we find a suitable and available replacement and negotiate the fee, wages, etc in time.
Who knows if he will leave in the summer but it won't be until then at the earliest.

The Plank

More like £80m, £40m buys his left foot.

BigD

Just a Bitter wind up, don't take the bait and they will go away

£40 mil? I'm sure they have got enough money to be able to pay the full amount now! Why do they only want to pay half now or is that just a down payment to secure his signature then they will pay the other 40 after the window shuts. All we've heard on this site for the last year is saurez is leaving and guess what, he's still here!

Somebody at the buttercup syrup?

Haven't city got enough strikers.

40 million?? You forgot to add the rest of the message. 40million plus silva harte tevez and aguero. oh and chuck in yaya and kompany too should just about cover it. to man city or chelsea I would say 60 million minimum. end of. suarez under contract. infact i'd twll suarez if he ever wants to leave its abroad or nothing.

24 Jan 2013 21:38:16
This is rubbish, so not going to comment on Citeh even trying to get it.

However, I've heard there is a 40m release clause. And Pep knows this because his brother is Suarez's agent. Which to me is illegal as it should be confidential.

I have a feeling if there is a release clause, and Bayern activate he may go because of the way he's treated. But if there is no release clause the club can go tell Bayern and anybody else to go do one. He is definately in the 70m bracket. I don't think there is another player on the planet besides Messi and Ronaldo who come close to doing what he does.

Wow. £12m for Zaha and now £40m for Jeffren Suarez. I think Fergie is losing it.

SpudRed

Don't be so certain about dismissing this. I have a feeling there is something in this rumour. John henry is on the verge of personal bankruptcy and needs to bring cash in fast.

As I've said this is utter rubbish, however the reason £40m is mentioned is because there is an apparent £40m release clause in his contract

They can ready all they want. Whilst they are "readying" Liverpool can "Ready" a bid of 20 million for messi but I don't have to tell you how that will end....!

24 Jan 2013 19:28:56
Just been told the Coutinho final bid of 9 million has been accepted! (£7.2 mil)
It's up to the player now if he wants to leave or not... Lets hope we wrap it up soon so we can move onto other targets!

Darboy

Who told you that? Your not one of these people who makes things up are you?

How many other targets do you think we have got? Maybe one more.

Mighty reds

24 Jan 2013 19:55:13
Cant stand people like you some fans really want him at liverpool and your making lies up moron.

Our previous deal was for £8m so
1) why would we go back with a lower offer.
2) why would they accept £800k less than our previous offer?
3) why would they accept less than the £10.2m Southampton have bid?

Who told you?

Can you please give me the source of this rumour

Where did you find this info then please tell me?

What's your sorce darboy? Hope you are right. Could be a fantastic signing if it happens

As much as I want to believe you I doubt they would of accepted our bid of £7.2m as Southampton bid £10.2m which was accepted.

BigD

You mean that £7.2m bid compared to Saints £10.2m bid? Which is the one that Football Italia say has been accepted? Well, these Italian chaps are pretty thick so must be the one from Liverpool! (Check Football Italia).LOL

My source is an insider with the club... Giving him away would mean he could lose his job! Southampton offered 10 mil euros not pounds, which isn't a lot more than we offered! Talks with the player have begun... We just need to wait and see what happens.
Darboy

No Southampton have bid 10m

Heard southamptons offer not true and player is staying at inter. Gd source

Have any of you people watched even a single inter Millan match that coutinho has played in? Seriously? Because if you had of watched him at any length you'd realise that he really is not a player that you should be excited about. Sort range of passing, too weak on the ball even for serie a and he just doesn't have any kind of physical presence. I know that are players in that position that have taken the league by storm, but your silvas and Matas have supreme skill and vision to compliment their physical disadvantage. Sahin is twice the player of coutinho is and look how that ended up. Jus don't get to excited about this one. Inter want to finance belhanda, only 4 million more why not just cut out the middle man? Similar mistake made in the summer. Liverpool buy borini to finance romas move for mattia destro. Simply inept transfer policy of spending money on other clubs deadwood to fiancé their moves for better players when the better options are quite obviously available

I hope you're right darboy! I have my doubts about it but I'll sit tight and hope!

He may as well. He'll play football at Liverpool and quite a lot of spanish/brazilian/portugese speaking players to settle in.

Inter or obviously not keen on him having loaned him out and trying to get paulinho in place of him. Why don't liverpool bid for Paulinho ?

The above poster is right, not to hot from what I have seen of him. Just a cheaper version of Joe allen for me.

I for one am fed up with all of it.we get linked with all these names and nothing ever comes of it! It's just time to realise that we won't spend.ok, we've spent good money on Sturridge and he looks like a great buy.but the simple fact is that Southampton can outbid us

I reiterate coutinho is not the answer to any problem at Liverpool. I've already listed physical and skill issues, but there is a simple fact of throwing 8m away on a player that is not correct for the club. I say let Southampton outbid and let Liverpool dodge the bullet. Why do people get so et up on these names? 8m now on a potentially very poor but doesn't not give Liverpool an increased chance to climb the league and with cl football quite far away this year. Why not save the money for summer finish the season with a relatively good squad and use the money to add real quality in the summer when it is available and Liverpool know where they stand postion wise?

I told you all.. My source is 100% genuine! Coutinho nearly done, ince nearly done! We're looking for a buyer for Coates who's been told he can leave!
Darboy

24 Jan 2013 17:22:22
Liverpool's number one transfer target is Ajax defender Daley Blind. Blind can play anywhere across the back four but is probably best at left back.

The club have been in touch with the players agent Rob Jansen, who is also the agent of Dirk Kuyt. All being well, the deal should go through before the end of this transfer window, if not it will happen in the Summer.

I would be happy if true.

redphil

Lets hope he's as good as his Dad was

Lets hope it's not the blind leading the blind

Blinding rumour mate

I have heard Southampton intend to put a bid in for him!

I can't see it myself

I can't see where your going with this...

Would love to see it happen but can't see it

Cor some of these Blind jokes are toe curlingly bad....Lads don't give up your day jobs!

24 Jan 2013 19:26:32
Surely, it Danny Smokescreen?

Hope not. He isn't good enough. Not even anywhere near the level he should to be at least considered a "target".

Eye say, some great puns!

Nobody seen that one coming

Now see here you lot.......

Apparently he was a star PUPIL at the acadamy

dave

24 Jan 2013 20:00:31
I heard he played a blinder the other day funny enough

I can just hear the song from the kop now. Love to see the Blind man cross the pitch and score against the other side.

Poets hope he can see players coming in from the blind side

You will have team attacking down are blind side

These jokes are getting cornea

Another blind buy...like downing and carroll? No more throwing money around w

Can't see it myself

Something about a guide dog ... etc

We do need some backup in the back.

I believe things are underway to engineer a move for Suarez to Munich either this window or the next one.

Aintree red.

Whereas I belive there is zero chance of him leaving in this window Nyah Nyah !

The Plank

You are right, he is leaving in the Summer but more worryingly, Suarez's replacement is Coutinho.

Where are you people getting this bogus information from?! LOL! Coutinho is Suarez replacement? Please... Ye of little faith, he'll still be here at the start of next season.

He can leave for no less than £55m, we want to erase Torres being the player we sold for the most amount of money.

Who writes this stuff?

Do you have euro numbers please mr/mrs fourtune teller

Call your self a Red? paranoid fool.

If you believe in what the media have stated then you will find a clause in his contract for 36 million, which triggers his release, hope he stays but for me there was LFC before Suarez and there will be LFC after he goes. YNWA

Everton fans

That why fsg arent buying now waiting to use the suarez cash to appease the fans

Stupid thoughts

24 Jan 2013 19:08:27
No moves atall according to my Bayern FC buddy who has his ear to the ground . Relax Red fans, at least for now .

Appease the fans? yeah they'll sell Suarez only to realise that they are in the same predicament they faced prior to buying Sturridge, so to "appease the fans" they will presumably buy another striker, probably of lesser ability? ...one step forward, two backwards!

For so called professionals and forward thinkers this move would certainly be a step in the right direction - not!

Perhaps Rodgers has convinced the owners that Suarez is surplus to requirements now that Borini is fit again? afterall, the ambition of the owners is only to finish fourth isn't it? so surely this can be without Luis.

Tell 'em they're dreamin'

I've heard this rumor too and I actually thinks it makes sense. I'm not saying that Suarez wants to leave, but in the event he did I think Munich would be a logical destination for his as his agent is Peps brother. I hope he doesn't want to leave, but if he gets tired enough of the English media (who could blame him) I think that Bayern would be is the drivers seat to sign him.

~Fresh

You are talking rubbish, why on earth would suarez want to go and play football in germany!

Wow, you really must have some good insider info - it's been openly been discussed in the press, on TV and on here for about a month.

Po

I don't get why a load of no namers attack aintree red even saying he's not a reds fan any1 who has used this site for a while knows aintree red is a lfc fan why attack him him beacuse he posted something you don't want to read i'm hoping saurez doesn't leave I think aintree reds wrong but I don't need to assasinate his character for posting something I don't believe or more importantly don't want to believe we will find out in the summer if he's right or wrong I hope saurez sees where moving forard decides to give us 1 more year but why say who would want to play in germany the german leagues a great league he would win titles be challenging for champions league be honest will we next year
giblet

Suarez will only move to move to Munich in summer when Guardiola arrives.

Suarez won't go to Bayern in Jauary, c'mon!

But he will in the summer. And it will be £40m absolute max. given Bayern's financial structure. He will no doubt earn a handsome wage there though.

Gav

I don't think he will leave in this window but of he thinks there is no hope of us getting into CL the season after next, he might go then.

In answer to Fresh's post -
Do you really believe that Suarez will traipse around Europe after Pep just because of who his brother is? Dream on!

Players may join clubs for many reasons but I don't think agents' relationships with managers comes into it.

24 Jan 2013 16:23:30
Here is a rumour for you...
Liverpool will not be making anymore signings in the January window.
LFC had their eye on some potential prospects with designs on exiting Stwewart Downing. However Downing's consistency is starting to live up to his price tag and interest in another attacking player has dropped now.
Only movement that I am aware of is the club are trying to offload Sebastian Coates on loan but a permanent move could happen.
Otherwise, don't waste your time praying for a new big signing. We have a squad here that CAN do well, not perfect yet but real potential going forward. Sturridge was a great buy for the club, trust me his presence will give the team a boost a long with other players consistency coming through.
The summer may see more movement if some players do not remain consistent. I don't think Downing will ever be truly safe, however, Henderson has been viewed as worth keeping hold of.
Also, don't listen to the Suarez to Munich rumours, he will want CL football but will give Liverpool another 2 years.

Someone's been looking at twitter!

How can you possibly be aware exactly how long he will give us, I doubt he is exactly sure himself right now, why do people always see things in definate black and white. circumstances change all the time. to say we definately have saurez for 2 more years is a rediculous statement,

Blimey, either you're Suarez's dad or you have a flipping good crystal ball. You could make a fortune as an agents' fortune-teller.

Mark

From the last transfer window we were short on squad numbers needing to add at Least 2 players. In the current we have signed sturridge but let cole, sahin go plus players on loans. The club knew the supporters weren't happy about the squad. So now we have a smaller squad again how do you come to the assumption no more players will be added?

2 years is this the same saurez who according to Edoo2 who is usually very reliable who said saurez was courting and been courted by juventus in the summer i'm hopeful he stays but not confident time will tell

So no ins no outs

No chance of top 4, our midfield is woeful having lost sahin as well we have no creativity in there to challenge

Downings improved but he's still not lived up to his inflated price tag.

Hi Eds, what's the situation with Ince? Things seemed to have died down. Is it likely we will get him before the window closes? Thanks
Chunk {Ed002's Note - I rather think it is possible something that could be done.}

24 Jan 2013 16:04:26
Franco Di Santo coming in on a free in the Summer. He is seen as cover and nothing else

I dun mind a cheap player as a cover.

Who was the last free transfer, now let me think...Di Santo is as bad as Cole and the waste of a salary, I would rather give N'goo a chance as he is a big lad who can play a bit...

Waste of a wage!

I'm sure di Santo wouldn't come to us, surely a top player of his caliber would require a massive salary and CL football guaranteed........

Has something happened to the team's coach driver

Good young talent

Good young talent? Best joke I've heard all day..

Spanish star Isco, who has been linked with several Premier League clubs, is going to sign a new deal with Malaga until June 2018 with a buyout clause of €35million (£30m), according to Marca. {Ed002's Note - Malaga are looking to have Isco sign a new long-term contract because they do fear a move for the player this month. Malaga wanted 21M euros and are now negotiating an increase in a termination clause to 42M euros, using a pay rise to tempt the player to agree.

Do not be surprised to see him sold during the next week in order to raise money to pay a debt in March.}

Liverpool should be bidding for Isco this kid is brilliant. Which clubs are actually linked with him eds? I'm sure 42M euros would put most clubs off the player though {Ed002's Note - Chelsea, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. Juventus probably not and Manchester City might step up.}

Where looks his most likely destination he's a fantastic prospect would prefer him to stay in Spain rather than strengthen a rival

Off to Chelsea.

Hi Eds

With the Coutinho saga dragging on I heard one Ed, can't remember which one saying Coutinho is one of a number of targets and if Inter what too much we will stick to our value walk away and move on to other targets. Surely with wasting the number of day's that we have over negotiations with Inter it will leave us little time to go for other targets.

Thanks

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - It doesn't work like that per se.}

Seems to me to be a fair price especially when you consider its abt the same price as fabio borini can't see it happening because coutinho has not played for a club where br was working .
cheers mal

What do you mean ed? {Ed002's Note - Think of the transfer window as one of a series of parallels processes rather than a single sequence of don one - do next.}

How does it work then ed002? Explain, briefly if you will. Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Clubs can and do work on more than one transfer target at a time. If you could visualise a series of parallel task, most of the work can be undertaken (talking to agents, clubs etc.) at the same time. It is not the case of failing to complete onetransfer and then stumbling along to start another afresh.}

Bacon's owner, the people in charge of transfer will probably be doing negotiations simultaneously with certain players so that if one deal doesn't look positive for completion, we could jump to the next deal. Am I anywhere near right ed?

KrishnaYNWA

Coutinho seen on merseyside

Couthinho isn't even good

Another Dempsey from MR Ayre no doubt

Too much Football Manager being played to be able to grasp that concept Eds

24 Jan 2013 14:47:18
To be honest I'm sick of reading these posts based on nothing more than tripe and FIFA gaming nonsense. The Coutinho boy couldn't cut it at Inter and there's no reason to believe he would fare better in the EPL. There is no justification for any cost above £6m.

I actually hope we don't gamble too much money on him let alone fight with Southampton for his signature. We have a healthy number of young players coming through the ranks and yet some of our fans want to pursue players that show no sign of achieving anything great regardless of the impact on our books or our current flow and dynamic. If the boy is bought then good luck to him but please stop going on about missing out on him and FSG failing us if we do not get his signature because many of us see that as good and sensible housekeeping.

Yeah, coz anyone whose style isn't suited to Italy will automatically be useless in the EPL. Your point is reinforced by how bad players such as Henry, Berkamp, Viera, Ian Rush, Paul Ince, Robbie Keane etc... were in England. I mean, these Serie A failures were terrible in the EPL! You moron

Hope he does sign, he is as average as the rest of your squad, hahhaha, mid table team.up the blues

If your sick of reading these posts then stop.Peoples opinions and banter is what this site is all about.

He had a great loan spell with Espanyol, and has looked very good but not anywhere near a finished product at Inter, who need funds to rebuild their squad now and are not thinking about the future. Doesn't mean he 'hasn't cut it' at all

Guess we are lucky you aren't running Liverpool FC then hey?

Shall we leave it to the experts?

Well said mate.

redroo

I think a lot of us just like to see new players coming in. I agree though that we have a very healthy set of lads coming through and i'd like to see them given a chance. It's worked in the past with Redknapp, Fowler, Harkness, Warnock and so on.. I think we lost our way when Rafa started selling them to buy new players. More faith should be shown in them coming through the ranks. Spend big on established players by all means but not £10 mil on a reserve team player.

Johnty

Couldn't agree more with you sir, this couthino is well over rated and I would rather give the playing time to suso, we need a bit of experience for example some one who would cost around 8-10 million and is between 25-29 years old, in the attacking role just behind the strikers, ince is no good, neither is counthino or jeffren suarez from lisbon, we need to act fast now as well because I can tell you now if we don't get another body in b4 the end of this transfer window there will be more disappointment than the last window

Wasn't that what everyone said about Thierry Henry!?

OP, well said, we have a value, if Inter accept then fine, if not walk away, simple. then let all the persons say "Another taret missed" etc. If these people were in charge the club would be bust !

Well since any player in any position at any club who is sold to any club other than Liverpool attracts the inevitable "Another brilliant target missed" posts I'm standing by for similar drivel if we don't sign Coutinho and about another 20 or 30 players.

The Plank

Have to say one of the most sensible things I have read here in a long time excellent comment and I agree 100%

What was the name of that striker, who didn't cut in Itallian football?
Yes, that's it Ian Rush.
Seem to remember he done alrite for himself. There was another one who flopped also, you may of heard of him, Dennis Bergkamp, he done okayish over here. And the worst flop of the lot Thierry something or other....

The boy is class - he is the type of brazilian most reds thoght we were getting when we got lucas, but instead we got a tallented defensive midfielder, this boy couthinho has more pace than suso more strength and a fare few more tricks up his sleeve, suso will be great, but this lad is a different level at this stage, its true that he could come over to us and just fail to get amongst the squad, but my money is on lucas and the likes and brendon giveing him game time, that he will do a Suarez and light up thepitch ourstyle of play is made for him, lose a defensive mid and gain a number 10

Sturridge didn't make the cut at Man City or Chelsea but he is playing well for us.

Well said. It's clear the club don't have bucketloads of money and I'd rather they didn't spend on someone who is unproven in English football at any level

at person who replied first: way to miss the point abusively.

If you never seen him, don, t comment.I watched him this year for espayol and he has a great touch and can open up teams.Exactly what we need

As we get into the last week of the window we can say good bye to common sense for a bit. Before we do just a quick congratulations to the original poster for a vey sensible comment - well said !

We need new players the squad isn't good enough

Suarez, Gerrard, Agger aren't average Everton fans!

Alright eds jus a quick one. I'm workin in the roads next to anfield and phil brown has jus pulled into there in a 61 plate range rover vogue. Is there anything In that and besides being a previous manager does he do anything else? Apply would be appreciated thanks. This is 100% true. Thanks

That is probably xxxxxxxxxxxx who works in LFC Finance. He is the spit of Phil Brown down to the perma-tan and drives a Rangey. {Ed002's Note - A "Rangey"?}

Who'd thought Phil Brown would have a double out there:(
kidmillions

Range rover, ed {Ed002's Note - Are all care referred to like footballers then: Giggsy, Rangey, Robbo, Jaguaro etc..}

He is a great grass cutter

Anyone who ends post with 100% true you know its not true.

Yea like punto little italian fella

dave

Its true he was doing an interview with a friend of mine. The interview is to do with crime involving ex-players who drop out the game

Phil Brown is up in the North West. Saw him last week at Tempo bar at the Marriott but whether its anything to do with LFC is beyond me. Think he may have been there to play golf but then got cancelled because of snow. Or he may just like overpriced chips and meat free ham sandwiches.

He wasn't sat having a meeting with Ian Ayre and Lionel Messi.

I went to Hope Uni today and saw him. Son graduating ?

Yes Southampton have had a bid accepted but doesn't mean he will join them. He prefers a move to us and I believe we will sign him. Its not just about joining a club for football it will be about him settling in and we have plenty south americans what will help him.

Soton have one Brazilian (do Prado), one Uruguayan (Ramirez) and one Argentinian (Gazzaniga). So on that front it's almost a tie.

And we can trick him into thinking JRod is South American too

He's coming to saints (big club with ambition)

Difference being that he's apparently "played" with Lucas at some point in the national side.

We have 4 first team South American players they've got 3 this won't be the factor

It will be:
-great players
-chance of getting Europe
-Atmosphere
-amount of money we can offer him in the future
-playing chances at a great team
-better training staff
-...

Inter will want the most money mate

I am confident he will come. at least I am hoping.ed.whats your gut telling you ?yes or no? after weighing up all the rumours? {Ed052's Note - we have told you all we know, Ed002 keeps giving updates}

A source is saying that LFC are currently discussing personal terms with Coutinho and he is not interested in a move to Southampton despite a £10.2m bid being accepted. Fingers crossed, he will be a Liverpool player soon.

Steve

Hope your right Steve.

BigD

If our bid wasn't accepted, then we wouldn't get as far as discussing personal terms with him, so that can't be right surely?

Inter need the money so I can't see them accepting the lower bid. I think tey'l just tell coutinho its southampton or the bench/reserves for the next half a season forcing him to move. And lets not forgot he allready knows the manager likes him so in the end I think hel just end up going to there.

Inter need the money but they might bench him ? Biting off their nose to spite their face. He will be at LFC. doesn't matter a jot if he knows manager, we are LFC, enough said. If he wants to fo to SFC let him and move on to next target. Stand firm and stop letting clubs take the ****, for once !

I'm sure the expression is "cutting your nose off to spite your face" ... ha! I don't think there was any canibalism implied lol {Ed002's Note -

24 Jan 2013 13:50:02
Independent reporting Southampton coutiniho offer has been accepted however he has no interest in the move there, so inter will take liverpoools offer of 8 due to there financial problems and needing to fund the belhandra deal, just passing it on

Ki101

He's also said he doesn't want to leave Inter, so the fact that he doesn't want to go to Southampton doesn't necessarily mean he favours a move to Liverpool.

Just sayin.....

He might favor a move to Liverpool as he is much more likely go play, rather than sit on the bench. By playing regularly for a club in European competitions and with high aspirations, he is more likely to earn Brazil call ups. I'd presume Lucas or Rodgers has mentioned this, or more likely the player understands this for himself.

24 Jan 2013 13:02:33
Ed002 would just like to no what the deal with coutiniho is lot of stories on him reportedly southamton having a bif accepted true or not?thanks in advance for any reply

What other clubs apart from Bayern Munich are interested in Mertens? Surely him, as a winger, would make no sense seeming as they already have Ribery, Robben, Shaqiri and Muller can play out wide too. Surely he would be better suited moving to a different team? Not saying to Liverpool but he would definitely do a very good job for us if Downing is moved on in the summer. {Ed002's Note - Lazio.}

Totally agree with poster, he would make a big difference to out starting 11. he scores goals and would cost around £10m, however he has said himself he has unfinished business at PSV so will see out the season before thinking of a move, with Pep soon to be in charge maybe B.Munich will end their interest.

BigD

Downing aren't going nowhere.

24 Jan 2013 12:39:13
If united are willing to pay £15m for zaha we must be getting a real bargain with ince at £7.5m, all the stats show ince to be the more effective player. If zaha good enough for them then ince is good enough for us. Hope we can get this deal done. I no some supporters don't like us buying British but I must admit I quite like it. fingers Crossed it all works out!
Ryan.

As both a LFC fan and CPFC fan, I can assure you that Zaha is class - and has only recently signed a 5 year deal! I have seen Ince on about a dozen occasions and whilst I would love to seem him back in the lfc shirt, he's not as talented as Zaha by any stretch. He is a better finisher though!

Bargain! We let him go for next to nothing, this make us look foolish again, adding to the stupidity of the Carroll deal. I hope it doesn't go through.

If you go on stats then Downing and Adam where steals.

redphil

Who are you Paul Ince, trying to hawk your son, Thank you but no Thank you. If he comes he comes at our terms, otherwise let him be someone else's gain.

When did we sign Ince? Missed that

As much as I want any Man Utd player to fail miserably, Zaha is a match winner. When he runs with the ball he reminds me of a cross between Ian Wright and Gareth Bale.
Ince is average. Good enough for Championship but not the Premier league.
I think he's be a waste of money, Kenny was right to bin him.

British players are needed!

24 Jan 2013 12:32:53
Non-lfc related.
Juve sign Llorente on pre contract.

It is LFC related when their next aim is to get a 2nd striker and the player they have in mind is SUAREZ

24 Jan 2013 12:58:59
At least he didn't go to Spurs or Southampton...

Eds, with Llorente signed on pre-contract, would this mean their interest in Suarez would perhaps fall away now?

PaulyP {Ed002's Note - Not all - I have explained that.}

24 Jan 2013 12:29:04
Hey ed, non-liverpool related, but I couldn't find a Fulham page - do you have any info on Stanislav Manolev coming to England?

Drigan {Ed002's Note - Manolev will almost certainly being moving to Fulham, as you say.}

24 Jan 2013 12:14:20
For Clarity, Liverpool will let Suarez leave should they fail to get CL Place and Reina go but not till the summer.(Returning Home) Replacement(s) for Suarez already being targeted but nothing will be done until summer. Reina is being allowed to return home in the summer with Barca being the obvious destination. Liverpool targeting Courtois of Chelsea or Forster of Celtic. No interest in Butland. Not aware of reason but there it is! Traore of Rubin Kazan, Mario Mandzukic of Bayern, Jovetic of Firentina and surprisingly for me anyway Di Santos of Wigan all being monitored closely for summer targets.

Is he a relation to Di Santo?

Wow thanks for telling us Brendan! Only our manager would be aware of all this so it's good that you're prepared to share with us.

The Plank

Is it Lacina Traore ? I believe he is long gone fron Rubin and even played against us in Europa League this year with his new club...

Madness how papers and speculation ruin people's career if you look at suarez at Ajax were he won trophys but was easy that was a big decision why he came liverpool I think he new what he was coming to when he came here and there was a lot easier options to get champions league football and trophys?..... But going to agree if we played football like last year meaning how drained and weak the team looked he would of left. But Brendan's style of play and the challenge he's got around him could make him see different and would rather pursuit this challenge..... We're 7th in the league had an average start new manager new style of play accepting money loss. Come beginning next season champions league or not suarez knows big Rodgers been targeting is summer targets wich will work around him an I no there's no believers round here or in uk that why it 40/1 50/1 but liverpool challenging title next season. The owners approach to Brendan I think is quality he spent last year 100+m on a team wich was speculated more than the weather last year so why make fools of them selves agen instead they have tested the water with the manager and not spent to hastey personal oppinion since Brendan been back he has showed that in players ... Henderson we would of got 8 now we get 13 downing we would get 5 now we get 10 wisdom 1m now 10m suarez 40m now 70m sterling 12m now 20m even shelved looks like he could caption a reading a villa or a Wigan ... Wat you Wrekin Edda we on are way back

So your saying that right in the middle of the Season with 4th place, Fa Cup and Europa League all to play for.
Rodgers and Suarez can think of nothing better to do than plan for this summers next move? Nonsense!
Totally unclarified Nonsense!!
kidmillions

Just seeing the words Franco Di Santo being linked to us makes me feel somewhere between angry and sick, I only hope it's just a random link, would be gutted if we signed him as he is truly a terrible footballer, the Argentine N'gog.

Gomez in deal for Suarez plus cash

You must think Gomez is one helluva player for it to cost Suarez AND cash to get him.

24 Jan 2013 11:45:40
does coates want to leave permanently or does he just want to go on loan to get games I think it would be a mistake if we sold him {Ed002's Note - I am told that Coates wants to leave to get more game time and it has been suggested to me he wants out completely. Santos and Palermo have confirmed interest in buying Coates whilst Napoli, Lazio and Sao Paulo are also reportedly interested. Juventus and WBA have been mentioned, like Bolton and QPR, as a possible loan options.}

West Brom are very keen on him as Steve Clarke rates him highly, so would it not be in the best interest of everyone involved if we agreed to let him join west Brom on a season and half loan so he would get the experience and 1st team football he wants and that would also allow West Brom to sell Olsson and have a replacement.

BigD {Ed002's Note - You cannot habe a season and a half loan. He could have a half season then a full season negotiated in the summer.}

If he wants to go and we're prepared to sell him then for God's sakes no cheap sale.He's a young regular international so if there's a bid for him we musn't accept peanuts.Or any other nuts either.

The Plank

Sorry Ed002 that is what I meant with the loan situation, I think it would be wise move for all parties concerned.

BigD {Ed002's Note - If the kid wants out I would suggest letting him go and getting a replacement in.}

But do we actually need a replacement as we already have Martin Kelly and Andre Wisdom who can and will probably be the next center half pairing for us, with McLaughlin on the right and Robinson on the left.

BigD

What happened all these links that were going to happen with the uruguyan club coates came from. Another bull story. Coates great player. But guys aheard of him are too good a partnership to tinker

Oh look, people overreacting again about losing out to Southampton bla bla bla.

Ramirez - Ed's have patiently clarified time and time again no bids were made and even doubted any interest in him.

Forren - Not a big deal, we wanted him to take a trial, he wanted a deal straight away.

Coutinho - How about you just wait and see what develops rather than jumping to conclusions that he's definitely going to Southampton.

It is not about over reacting to losing out to southampton for me its about the fact the half decent players are becoming available for small fees that in your words we have never showed interest in, and then smaller clubs are getting them, not bigger or clubs or even rivals. We are not talking about fee's that are going to break the bank for these players. FSG are to blame and they are an embrassment to the staure of this club.

The truth is we obviously cannot compete in the transfer market with the likes of Southampton,
If their bid is higher they will get Coutinho
If BR definately wants this player the owners will have to back him,
no arguements

People are having a moan about losing out to Southampton. Southampton are pushing the boat out to buy players simply to stay in prem and establish them selves as a prem team. I should think they are offering the world to these players we are targeting, I agree with letting targets go if its a fighting war between us and a club fighting prem survival, we Carnt be dragged into bidding wars and keeps the books straight.

24 Jan 2013 12:33:47
Ramirez has been diabolical too. Perhaps some of our internet fans still think we were wrong not to buy him.

I am taking my ball home because I don't like the way we deal with signings, we should be outbidding every other club for these brilliant players that we hav, nt seen play yet. Grow up and face facts. We are not city or Chelsea
Robbie

How has Ramirez played, just out of interest?

The guy above says 'diabolical', anyone kno if that's true?

Adam

24 Jan 2013 13:01:10
To whoever said FSG are an embarrassment to the club - if it wasn't for FSG we'd have no club mate. They saved us. They are currently still rectifying the ridiculous mistakes from previous regimes. I don't get how GENUINE LFC fans can dislike FSG so much. Ah, I just answered my own question....

I don't get it. First our fickle fans complain we overpay for players, then they don't like it when we try and pay sensible fees and criticise FSG for not backing Rodgers. £12m for Sturridge is not cheap (good buy) and the fee for Coutinho, if agreed, will bring the spending up to £20m, perhaps even £25m if Ince also signs.

Regarding Ramirez, he's done alright but I don't see him as Liverpool standard and don't see him as one to fit into Rodgers' system. He's quite lazy but does have some talent.

Some of you fans live in a lovely world, nice transfers, no bidding wars. Unfortunately to win titles which is what we strive for you have to buy the best. Not second best because we were unwilling to price match.

I've seen Ramirez a few times at close hand. He's absolute class. Opens defences up easily runs at pace with the ball. Problem at Saints is that he hasn't got a pacey forward to play off and makes the runs. Riki Lambert is a different type of player to that. I'm sure if you saw Ramirez with someone like Suarez and Sturridge ahead of him, you would see lots of chances.
Anyway, we didn't bid so it's irrelevant !
G

I don't get it. First our fickle fans complain we overpay for players, then they don't like it when we try and pay sensible fees and criticise FSG for not backing Rodgers.

Exactly. We've paid out huge sums in transfer fees and wages and have got very little back for it.

In the real world you place a sensible value on things and stick to what you can afford.

Now I know where all the people on Ebay who bid more than the item can be bought online for, spend the rest of their time.
We used to have patient, knowledgeable fans.

24 Jan 2013 11:01:12
What's the chances of us getting Butland?
Would be a great addition to our squad.
We've got a lot of young talent in the ranks and I can't wait for them all to be regulars in a few years time.
PT77 {Ed002's Note - See earlier answer please.}

With BR saying that our back four aren't vocal enough and lack leadership (without Carra in there), then it makes little sense to chuck a relatively inexperienced 'keeper into the mix...

LeTrench

Oh so YOU can't wait until the young talent comes good???

Get a grip lad, we do not have the cash to compete with the likes of Chelsea, Man City or even Man Utd.

Anyways putting a young keeper in at this stage would mean disaster, and what's wrong with Brad?

I'm not big on stats but take a look at the number of goals Butland is conceeding 1 division down.clearly they're not all down to him but watching televised games from the Championship featuring him in goal tells me he's nowhere near EPL level at present and tossing him into our first team would have us leaking goals like a seive.

The Plank

I'm saying put Butland straight into the team, but Reina will be gone either in this summer or next. Yes we have got some some great young players in the ranks. We've got more money to spend than you think mate, there just not gna announce it.
PT77

Butland is perfect replacement for Reina.

24 Jan 2013 10:55:02
Reports suggesting Birmingham have lowered Butlands price and with Reina set to leave in the summer is it wise to bid for Butland and loan him out to keep gaining experience?
Think it unwise if we miss out deffinately 1 for future.
Are we likely to go in for him Ed's?

RedAds {Ed002's Note - Whilst Liverpool has spoken with Butland's agent there has been no offer from the club to Birmingham City. Additionally, I would consider Butland a high-risk move if Liverpool were to look to him as a first choice goalkeeper at this time. However, Birmingham will have to generate some cash this month to keep the club going and selling Butland, their most saleable player, would provide that money. Birmingham have already rejected a £6 million offer from Southampton. Whilst Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Tottenham Hotspur and West Ham United have all scouted Butland this season, Everton (if they can find the cash) and Fulham are best placed to strike a deal.}

Look at joe heart he shone early and has become one of the best if not the best in the EPL should defo get him and give hime a chance

24 Jan 2013 10:54:17
Is this Ashley Williams story a goer? Last I remember hearing from him, he was talking about how much he hates Suarez. Think it's in his book.

Len {Ed002's Note - I thought that he did play well last night and if a bid is to be made then I would expect there to be someone exiting from centre back - perhaps a summer move is more likely? I don't know.}

I'd rather we didn't waste £8m on Williams as he isn't an improvement .

I don't want him and I would be gob smacked if we let Skrtel or Agger leave and want him as their replacement, he is not on their level at all.

BigD

24 Jan 2013 12:34:49
Was it him that kicked the ball at Van Persie? If so, I for one forgive him for his silly Suarez comments.

Not good enough for us and at £8 million [ minimum ? ] over priced.

He's written a book ? That is funny. What an ego

Would Liverpool have any chance of signing isco? And have we looked at Merkel?
If we are looking for a young attacking midfielder I can't believe he isn't being considered, he has done more than coutinho (my opinion, but I have only seen a bit of players and just read info)
Sam aus {Ed002's Note - (a) Isco no. There is an increasing chance of Isco being sold this month and there will likely be news of a move sometime next week. (b) The Chancellor of Germany of Germany will not be moving to Liverpool, but she would be happy for you to follow her on Facebook.}

Good one. I meant Alexander Merkel of Genoa {Ed002's Note - He as already to Udinese this month - I doubt he will be moving again.}

Hello Eds,
any news of our 8 million pound bid for Coutinho ?
was it accepted or rejected ?
as mostly all the journos are confident Coutinho wants LFC move.
Also anything new on Ince ? {Ed002's Note - Put aside talk of amounts of money as there seems to be, yet again, misleading information. However, an update:

The situation with Coutinho to the best of my knowledge is currently: (1) Inter are now resigned to selling Coutinho and there has been interest from Southampton, Liverpool, Aston Villa, Rubin Kazan and Porto. (2) Bids from Southampton, Rubin Kazan and a couple from Liverpool were rejected and a subsequent bid from Southampton has had more success. It has been suggested that there was also a bid from Aston Villa, but that remains unconfirmed. (3) Coutinho has been pushing for more opportunities at Inter for a couple of years and the loan to Espanyol earlier in 2012 gave him important experience. (4) With Sneijder to be, and now sold, everyone thought his future in Milan was assured. However, his opportunities have fewer than expected this season. (5) Paulinho was going to be too expensive if available at all and so Inter has returned to the proposed deal with Montpellier for Belhanda. (6) Coutinho would need a work permit to play in England and that may not be easy to obtain for a permanent move but I would suspect could be arranged through the exception ruling. (7) The player is happy to stay at Inter with the other younger players and fight for opportunities in the first team. (8) Southampton's interest in Coutinho is genuine and after having one bid rejected by Inter. As anticipated, a second bid was made yesterday and that bid has been accepted in principal with permission being granted for the player to talk with Southampton's Argentine coach Mauricio Pochettino who is in Spain. It has been suggested that a little more negotiation is required to finally agree the terms of a transfer between the clubs and that Inter are still seeking some extra money. The accepted bid is far above the higher of the two bids from Liverpool, so the they would need to do something quite significant in terms of making what I would suspect be a final bid from Merseyside. (9) Do not be surprised if the final bid from Liverpool is for a loan-to-buy deal as it was suggested yesterday that Liverpool may have "gone shopping without their credit card".}

24 Jan 2013 11:56:02
Hi ed,
Since Coutinho has not made the required percentage of international appearances to automatically qualify for a work permit and as you have said before to qualify as an exceptional talent interest must be shown by the larger clubs eg. United and Chelsea, do you believe he will be able to get a work permit? {Ed002's Note - I said I thought a work permit could be obtained as an exemption but it will require justification and I would think it is a matter all English clubs would have considered. As an aside, I would count Liverpool as one of the "bigger" English clubs I mentioned - it is just many of the posters that don't.}

(9) With Inter wanting Belhanda/Paulinho to replace Sneijder, Inter do need immediate cash from sales to balance the books, having already spent heavily in the summer. (10) Inter do not want to risk NOT selling Coutinho in this window, because with him not playing and not in Stramaccioni's future plans, if he does not move in this window, his value will be much lower come the summer window. (11) Whilst Inter are happy with the higher bid from Soton, they may have to accept yesterday's lower offer of £7.6m from LFC, if the player refuses a move to Soton and wants to hold out for a move to LFC - which he does. RC

So basically - nothing has changed since yesterday! This is becoming boring now. The truth is nobody can now what's going on at the moment. Liverpool could've offered more money than has been reported or they may have offered less. Or they may already be speaking to the player. They may be looking into the work permit situation. Or they may be doing none of the above. How could anyone outside of the people involved in the negotiations know the intricacies of how this stuff is conducted? That said I'm as culpible as anyone else in wanting to know if the club are going to buy Coutinho! Hence my addiction to this site!

{Ed002's Note - I guess you didn't read it then.}

24 Jan 2013 13:19:13
Well what exactly has changed? Liverpool and Southampton are both reportedly interested in the player. Doesn't how many times anyone reads the 1-100 (!) status reports - they don't actually add to much more than that.

{Ed002's Note - Obviously I am wasting my time making the effort and will not be doing so again.}

No Eds you're not, I can see the differences in each updates and appreciate them.

I see the Liverpool Echo are reporting we've had a 9mil euro bid accepted, fingers crossed!

Logic Liverpool Lad.

Thanks Ed002 for the great explaination regarding the current situation with Coutinho. I for one look forward to hearing more as and when its known.

Gone shopping without our credit card.... typical FSG could lose another one we desperatley need due to playing silly beggars over a couple of million.... FSG are really testing the fans here

Many thanks eds. Your opinions are hugely valued.

Thanks for clearing that up ed, it seems to me that the system for obtaining work permits is unfair to smaller clubs, wouldn't it be better to, for example allow each club 2 exemptions per year for players who don't automatically qualify for a work permit? {Ed002's Note - Absolutely not. If people don't qualify for a work permit they should not be in that country working.}

24 Jan 2013 17:08:29
Under the rules I proposed they would qualify for a work permit, I was suggesting replacing the exceptional talent ruling so that if a player had not made sufficient international appearances they could still be signed in a way that is fair to all teams. {Ed002's Note - It is not going to happen. Do you want only exceptionally talented Belarussian construction workers taking jobs from English construction workers, or any Belarussian with a bit of sand and cement taking those jobs?}

Thank you Ed's (2)

What a load of rubbish. WE still have the money from not buying dempsey. (Spent on Sturridge) so should have enough to buy Coutinho, Liverpool would make it back on resale of the player and shirt sales, optimism for the fans, so a bloody bargain for a brazilian

The reports of Ayre in Milan have been untrue but Lisbon will be on the cards if Liverpool fail to agree a deal for Coutinho, and it won't be the player most of you are suggesting in Jeffren it will be to agree terms with Helder Barbosa who currently plays for Braga and is out of contract in July. Another name into the hat Eds but hopeing Coutinho deal can be arranged!

Red Ron {Ed002's Note - Helder Barbosa is out of contract in the sumemr and Braga would indeed sell now to stop him signing a pre-contract elsewhere. I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool.}

Only a few clips of Barbosa on Utube but not particularly exciting. In fact he takes a blatant dive in one of them.

If I am not completely wrong I think Barbosa is wearing the #10 shirt. Oooohhh.

Blatant Dive....should have no problem adjusting to Prem League so!

Sort it out Ian Ayre!

You say Southampton have had a been that's been accepted from inter for coutinho, have Liverpool made an offer that's been accepted yet too?

I personally do not believe so.. but I think things will become clearer tomorrow morning... when there's news about him having medical at soton...

knightza

"...had a been that's been.." that's funny!

24 Jan 2013 09:29:05
I played with Ki Sung-Yueng ( David Ki ) from Swansea when he was 15 in Australia at John Paul College. He was incredible back then for the school team and we have kept in touch, he has told me that Bolton
Lee Chung-Yong will sign for us this transfer window he does not know how much he will cost us though.

Good player

24 Jan 2013 09:12:28
Is their any chance of us getting or perhaps just bidding for FC Portos Jackson Martinez?
Havn't heard anything of him mentioned in any rumors and that is a little Odd I Think. He is talented and we could use him!
Thanks for a great site btw. {Ed002's Note - Jackson has attracted interest, but not from Liverpool. Porto will price him in their usual extravagant way. He won't be moving to Liverpool in January.}

Hi eds

It's up to Coutinho who he wants to join... after all he can reject any move to Southampton or Liverpool. If we (Liverpool ) Fail to agree a fee with Inter and he goes to Southampton it will be a real shame as I can see him setting the premiership alight and in the future his value will sky rocket and he will move to Spain no doubt for a lot more than his current value.

Thatracoonstolemybacon {Ed002's Note - I don't see a move to Spain for him at anytime.}

I am not going to get to exited yet, we have been this close before and things have gone to pot.
He certainly looks a very talented layer but I just think he might get muscled out of things in the Prem. We shall see.
CR

24 Jan 2013 09:30:49
how could you know when a player who is at the start of his career will end up playing !
he already had a six month stint in spain and did pretty well and has all the attributes for la liga

Ed002 you always say 'the summer's a long way off' yet you are prepared to predict that a player won't move to a certain country throughout his career. Weird. {Ed002's Note - So? Why does it bother you enough to comment?}

24 Jan 2013 10:19:02
if we loose another player to southampton i'm going to ask some serious questions here and ask what the hell is going on who is negotiating these deals we keep loosing out on??? {Ed002's Note - I can't recall any players "lost" to Southampton.}

24 Jan 2013 10:34:24
I think ian Ayre is a disgrace this kid is talented fits in with the FSG'S policy just sign the kid

Like Sigurdson, Dempsey, Forren, these players are just decent, they arent amazing. Coutinho is unproven. If he REALLY was that good, then why arent Inter keeping him?

I like the purchase of Sturridge, Chelsea are beginning to miss him even more now!

I personally think we need a commanding Centre Back and Left Back, along with a proven number 10. {Ed002's Note - Forren was not missed.}

24 Jan 2013 08:50:33
it is possible, Adam Morgan will be on loan for a longer period to Rotherham? boy needs match practice {Ed002's Note - It is.}

24 Jan 2013 08:44:15
hi,

Eds how much do you think Liverpool will go for Coutinho? will they match Southamptons offer {Ed002's Note - Read the posts please.}

24 Jan 2013 08:33:54
Three questions.
1. I assume that IF Coutinho signs for us he will be cuptied for Europa League?
2. Have the interest in Gameiro completely faded?
3. (Actually not so relevant at this point but will probably be in the summer) What are our prospects of signing Christian Eriksen? I think we should make him Gerrards successor. He's class. {Ed002's Note - (1) He will. (2) Probably a red-herring but there was interest in a team mate of his who moved elsewhere. (3) In all honesty, slim. Liverpool, Manchester City, Arsenal, Chelsea, Bayern Munich, Spurs, Inter and AC Milan have shown some level of interest in Eriksen in the past year or so. He has already rejected both Manchester City and Chelsea but AC Milan and Spurs remain the most interested clubs and Manchester City may well return for him again. Back in July the Milan Press Office were convinced of interest from Manchester United and they have let it be known that they expected a bid to be made by for Eriksen. Expect both Milan clubs and Roma to press if a bid is made by Manchester United and I remain in agreement with them that there is every chance of that happening. The player remains adament that he will stay in Amsterdam for18 more months before moving to Spain but would likely jump at the chance of a move to Real Madrid or Barcelona if the opportunity arises. However, Ajax will not let him run down his contract so a move beckons and with only limited options for January, I suspect the player will see out the rest of the season at Ajax and see if he can attract attention from Spain.}

24 Jan 2013 07:16:47
Have Southampton really had a bid accepted for Coutinho? {Ed002's Note - Yes.}

Does that show the level to which we have dropped, being gazumped by Southampton? Bet we now up our bid for Ince instead and end up paying stupid money to Blackpool and once again looking like persons in the transfer market. We should be upping it for Coutinho.

Do you think Inter will settle for a slightly lower bid from Liverpool if the player refuse a Soton move but would like a Liverpool move? {Ed002's Note - RTP.}

Don't worry Ayre said we can compete with any club in the transfer market if the club value the player's worth. Looking at players with dodgy records or potential, to get them on the cheap and still will not splash the mediocre sum asked for.10m quite a lot of money for the 9th listed revenue generating club in europe.

Regards

This site is rubbish, and the Eds know nothing.
After taking the piss out of me with my reina snip yesterday, you come out with this.
Southampton have not even bid for him. stupid

{Ed002's Note - It is not the editors that write the replies and, to be honest, you should be able to accept non-abusive banter from your fellow posters with good grace.

At least thanks for clarifying for us that there has been no Southampton bid for Coutinho - no doubt that will be a great relief to many. And we do appreciate you signing the post.}

Southampton have had a bid that's been excepted for coutinho tv so looks like another player we will lose skint!!!

When Ian Ayre said we could compete with any club they forgot to print the rest of the quote, he meant to say we could compete with any team outside of the premier league, championship and division 8 of the merseyside district Sunday league....

Hi Eds,

It seems that the rumours regarding Jeffren are coming back out! Personally, I don't rate him whatsoever!

Do any of you EDS rate him at all?
And if the rumours have any substance to them, will a move for jeffren depend on the out come of INce transfer?

Jamie {Ed002's Note - There is an implication from a director of St Etienne who spoke with the Potuguese press that Marseille and Liverpool are still interested in Jeffren - who St Et has taken a liking to. Having checked with Marseille this appears to be the case. It may simply be Liverpool keeping options open.}

24 Jan 2013 05:52:35
Can anyone tell me why are we interested in Jeffren who is 25years old?
He scored 3 goals in Primera Division an 4 goals in Portugal.This is impressive for a 25 years old no?
Esna

Silly post. What difference does being 25 make to the amount of goals he's scored?

Because liverpool apparently don't sign players who are over the age of 25 no more, that's why he or her has put "jeffren who is 25 years old",

24 Jan 2013 05:02:43
Are we still looking at the defender, Diakite? Not sure if I spelt the name correctly. {Ed002's Note - Diakite will be free in the summer and has been refusing to agree a new deal at Lazio. He could sign a pre-contract in January. A bid from Genoa was rejected. Bordeaux would be interested in taking him in the summer for free. If Liverpool push ahead with their tentative enquiries it would in my view mean the end of Martin Skrtel's time at the club.}

Skrtel ain't going no where.

BigD

Skrtel and Agger have both underperformed this season, a new partner is needed to push them, or push one of them out the team, they've both gotten too comfy.

Hi ED's Thanks for info...

Are you speaking based on Footballing terms and your own view, or you have inside information about Liverpool looking to sell/ replace Skrtel.. {Ed002's Note - I think there is a good chance that Skrtel will be leaving in the summer. Last summer Csonto told Associated Press that because of changes at the club his client wanted to know what the future held and said that there were enquiries being made of Skrtel from Italy. I understand there has been some recent tentative interest from two clubs in Russia and bids are expected to be made in the summer.}

As I stated the other day Coutinho will be done for £9mGBP, was unsure of source but have had it confirmed with a Friend in Boston that he is pushing for a move To LFC And the Soton bids are rubbish

RyanWhittingtonandhiscat

Southampton bids (plural) are very much real.

Ed002 is it possible for both a new ferrari and a tangerine? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps a space hopper and a tangerine.}

I ask plausible transfer questions and it does not make it on this site, yet stupid questions like this make it on? no doubting this will not make it through either? {Ed002's Note - I don't see any questions from you in your history and this question makes perfect sense to everyone else. Is it possible you are whining just for teh sake of it?}

If you had a clue what's been happening on this site for the last couple of weeks you'd know excatly what this means. It's morse code for the trolls to get wrong.

Or maybe he wants a small orange and a red car....

Tangerine and Ferrari are easy but I didn't get space hopper - could you clarify Ed? I never was any good at the criptic crossword! LFCBrasil {Ed002's Note - It is indeed the obvious.}

I get the ferrari and the tangerine bit but what is a space hopper?

Rob ~ SA

Ed002 you are like one of those radio DJ's who spout off constantly and slate people and never allow them to reply or defend explain themselves, I appreciate your opinion but is there a need to just slate people for the sake of looking good in the cyber world? good site, but this need for some to appear mightier than most is really tiresome now. {Ed002's Note - Sorry, but I cannot see you asking any questions at all - plausible or not. It is hardly "slating" you to say that. As to the right to reply, everyone has the chance to do that.}

Oh and fyi, not everyone has the time to read every post to be able to understand the in joke, apologies for getting it wrong, but please have an understanding that we all do not follow everything posted {Ed002's Note - Equally, I don't have the time nor the inclination to answer every repeat question nor summarise the posts of the past day nor give additional or duplicate detail because some folks cannot make the effort to use the search function or to read the posts that are there.}

Fairs dues, thank you for hearing me out

This is football!!

I got tangerine not Ferrari.

Hi Eds,

I remember one of you mentioning that Liverpool at one point had interest in Miniero's Bernard? Do you think the player is likely to move away from Brazil anytime soon (not necessarily to Liverpool)?

Also is there any interest from European clubs in his team mate Neto?

Cheers,
ForzaRed {Ed002's Note - Atletico Mineiro's Bernard rejected opportunities to join Zenit and Qatar in the summer but there was a lingering thought that he may move on this January. Inter and Liverpool both had Bernard watched last summer with Inter going as far offering part ownership of others in exchange for part ownership of Bernard, but again that was refused. However, AC Milan, Spartak Moscow, Terek Grozny and Shakhtar Donetsk have recently approached Atletico Mineiro and whilst a 12M euro offer from Terek was rejected, it looks like a deal could be still be done and perhaps AC Milan will put together a package including a player as part of the deal. Whilst he is certainly attracting interest from several sides and a very good offer could tempt them to sell, I suspect Atletico Mineiro and Bernard would prefer to hold off on any move for, say, another year. Chelsea has been keeping a close eye on his progress as have Manchester City. He was one of the South American players that Liverpool were scouting earlier in 2012.

Neto has attracted interest from across mainland Europe but seemingly not from England as far as I know.}

26 Jan 2013 18:12:51
Hi ed if the. Lad from inter does sign then when would you exspect him to make his debut would arsenal come to soon thanks smc {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

23 Jan 2013 23:55:29
James Pearce of the Echo stating that Liverpool are confident of a deal being done for Coutinho for around the £7M-£9M mark, the Telegraph stating the same thing.
Don't be fooled Soton have launched a HIGHER bid, however the player PREFERS A MOVE TO LIVERPOOL, he's stated this to Lucas Leiva aswelll.
There are sources, also saying that Soton's "bid" was created by Coutinho's agent to manipulate LFC into paying more money. (Not sure about that part).

This will force Inter to or has already forced Inter to accept LFC's lower bid, as they need money for targets. May not be soon enough for Oldham, however a deal may be done none the less.

AsianRed

Soton's "bid" was created by Southamptons owners lad. MR

Hopefully we're not depending on his arrival to beat Oldham

So could we refer to the So'ton 'bid' as 'a smokescreen'...?

Let the airport/taxi/town centre/Melwood sightings begin...

Dr S. Atire.

Unfortunately Ayre appears on the verge of failing on another target.

24 Jan 2013 07:02:23
nope..I have a very relaible source...Saints hava e a bid of 10 mill plcaed to Inter....much above ours...

23 Jan 2013 23:54:54
Eds I've read before online that David Villa has handed in a transfer request tonight saying he wants to leave in this transfer window any you's heard anything of this? It also says he's after a move to either us or Arsenal and was just thinking with him being best mates with Reina do you think we might have any kind of an advantage? {Ed001's Note - I haven't heard anything about that, I very much doubt it, I was told they had come to an agreement for him to move on in the summer.}

There is no such thing as transfer requests in Spain.

DL

Why would he come to us, if the rumours are to be believed, and everyone has Reina leaving in the summer?

That would be the same Reina who 90% of posters on here say is leaving now or in the summer? So he'd join us just as Pepe's telling him "yeah sign for Liverpool because I'm quitting them." Makes sense does it?

The Plank

Hi eds, tv reported a few days ago about Southampton being interested in Biglia of Anderlecht, If he signs for them is it likely Coutinho will sign for us?
- Rookie {Ed001's Note - they play completely different positions.}

Must say if Southampton get the targets there after then they will have a good team. Shaw & Clyne in defence, Lallanha, Ramirez, Coutinho & Biglia in midfiled.
