rasmus elm to liverpool 7 million

Aye - nice try. Sure throw in Kolbeinn Sigþórsson for 4 million too. {Ed002's Note - Putting aside the price, I can confirm that Juventus, Spurs, Manchester United and Liverpool have shown interest in Rasmus Elm.}

Swedish tabloid reporting that Liverpool are taking a final look at Elm before launching a bid. They say about 5 mil, but that is prob without Redknapp throwing in a bid, as always...

Good buy if it goes though at 7-10 mil. Voted best player in Eredivisie this year by his fellow players I believe. Level-headed guy, good vision, good set-piece, throws long. Not the most flairful player you ever seen, but always does good things.

He's Kuyt without the close ball control.

No. This guy can actually pass the ball somewhere other than back to where he got it from...

eds do when do you think the ne Dof will be chose and who it the most lilley to come and who would you like to come

also do you think if we get a spanish Dof we will get a spanish manager

cheers and please post {Ed001's Note - I really don't know when it will be done, I expect it before the end of the season though. I don't think the nationalities will matter though.}

Spanish manager eh,wonder who that could be.

24 Apr 2012 21:37:22
Wow, in total shock.

Hats off to Chelsea. End.

Lee YNWA

The player maybe, the fans after that semi final (i know its not them all) there scum i hope we beat them and they lose in the champions league final.

Very happy for them too... But its such a shame they've got a much higher mountain to climb in the final as they're gonna have to do it without ivanovic, terry, ramires, mikel, mereiles and possibly cahill.

I agree, well done chelsea, they played not well, but played strong. drogba played like a true left back and all after terry showed wot a muppet he is. glad they won they wont feel so bad when we beat them in the fa cup

LFC all my life but happy for Chelsea fans tonight.

Ivanovic, Ramirez and Mikel will play only Miereless got second yellow. And Terry since he got red card. But LUIZ and Cahill will play.

Take a look at the pic in the liverpool sightings section then see if you are happy for them

C'mon bayern

For what it's worth i am happy for Ramires and some of the players who played out of their skins.

But for those troglodytes that follow them......

24 Apr 2012 21:37:20
Got to say i feel happy for nando. STEMLOCC1 {Ed022's Note - Good for you.}

The only one.

Go and right that on the chelsea page

Y you happy for him he didn't want to stay at Liverpool. Chelski done good good luck to them

If Chelsea wins either the champs league or fa cup it shows that Torres was right to leave us. Of course I want us to win the fa cup to save our poor season but also to show Torres he was wrong to leave. And to be honest, Chelsea have no chance to win the champs league, not without so many first team players.

This would be the same Torres that wouldnt wear a black armband on the day of the Hilllsborough anniversary!! Yeah you be delighted for him. Even some of his team mates had armbands on

Got to say I'm happy for Stemlock, he has written a post in English that I understand, don't agree with him but still, glad you learnt something in school today :)

Hang your head mate ,i would hate to see him win anything even the lottery :)

Right to leave us, are you mad? his goals per game ratio prove he was wrong to leave us, get your head out of the clouds

I have not bitterness towards Nando. Gave us three great years. Left us with 50 million.

I'll take that from our transfers any day of the week.

Some of you sound like bitters, the guy gave us some exciting times. like another post above said after all he did on the field he was able to leave us with 50 mill for his departure as well. not too shabby for someone who seemed (and still seems to an extent) a shadow of his former self
EMAN

I agree with 3 great years of service, but it is not the Liverpool way to turn your back on the club, and prooves that he was selfish and therefore he does not deserve to win anything!

It wasn't the fact that he turned his back on the club rather it was the timing of it, especially as he had hinted at it in some quarters as early as the December that he was looking for an exit. Will you be as happy if he scores in the last minute at Wembley?

Others have left the club before but have done it with more class.

If I was worshipped bye Liverpool fans like he was and on a decent wage like he was I would be loyal n stay at lfc unless the club wanted to sell me ,I was gutted wen he scored yesterday but not as gutted as he will be on may 5th

Happy for Chelsea: thought they demonstrated a great display of defensive resilience. I thought Lampard was fantastic to be honest...

I was in no way happy for Torres (mercenary) and he nearly cost Chelsea a goal on more than one occasion. I thought he was a liability and is still a shadow of his former self.

24 Apr 2012 21:04:07
hello eds..are there any new news about luc castaignos or just the same story re-surfacing? thanks {Ed001's Note - seems to be just the same old story, but with a little add on that the deal was agreed for the summer appended.}

24 Apr 2012 20:52:00
Hi Ed's this is a great site.
Lots of rumers saying Kenny will step aside at the end of the season.
What are the chances of rafa coming back? {Ed001's Note - I don't see any chance of Rafa coming back as manager, maybe as DoF there is a slim chance, but I personally can't see that either.}

Ed you may say it is unlikely but Rafa in a recent interview said he would be happy to wait 10 years to become a LFC manager {Ed005's Note - Doesn't matter if he'd pay Liverpool £50k a week and wait 30 years to become manager - if he's not the club's choice he won't be here.}

Just saying what i heard

Would Rafa work with a DoF though?

Keith

Great Rafa will be here to welcome back his top signing Aquilani !

24 Apr 2012 20:43:11
unai emery
frank de boer
michael laudrup
biesla
jorge jesus

ed would these managers be on the shortlist if kenny was to go.DORSET RED {Ed001's Note - I would hope so, but I think the DoF will be involved in the choice.}

The first 3 would def be if Tixiki gets the job I'd imagine. Bielsa doesnt have a word of english so I think he'll stay in spain. Not sure about Jorge Jesus. I would add Rafa and Riijkaard to that list too.

Andre Villas-Boas and Jurgen Klopp should be on that list

24 Apr 2012 20:18:12
Eds, anychance of Guardiola being manager next season, as his contract is expiring? {Ed001's Note - highly unlikely.}

Would you want guardiola he got handed haveing no prier expeirience at top level (came threw the ranks fair ehough) the best team in the world no amount of money could buy that teams class an expeirience but yet they cant win anything no league no cup he has under achived an made an untuchable bunch of gods an future class youngster into a laughing stock if i was a barca fan i would want him out kenny has done a top job in comparison kenny got handed an unfinnished team filled with players that have lost there faith in the team jorge jesus, brendan rogers,paul lambert there class managers that have turned a team around with no money but if they was givern money they would be able to spend it well because they will have suport from the dof i personaly would like brendan rogers because of his style of football and his way he man manges his team.. well thats my opinion love to here what other people think adam lfc

Barca can't win anything? Which Guardiola are you watching here mate? Are you sure you're watching La Liga? I would want Guardiola at LFC in a flash.

Eds, any chance of people suggesting new managers being either taken out and shot or restricted to the Man Utd page?

Doesn't his contract run out every year? I believe he only signs one year contracts.

Pretty sure the poster above me is right - he signs a one-year rolling contract for some reason, presumably personal. So technically his contract runs out every year.

24 Apr 2012 19:33:05
Hi Eds
Do we have any interest in Robben and Huntelaar I know about there wages but i think we need top players and that we don't need to look at there wages
Robben will be free this summer after he didn't want to extend his contract this also wants to leave because he had a fight with Ribery
Huntelaar had a fight with farfan so he wants to leave but i am not sure because he did fail at real so... but maybe soldado or llorente instead of him
{Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware.}

Farfans contract is up in the summer and even if it wasnt he's the 1 schalke will be getting rid of.

Huntelaar had fight with Jermaine Jones not Jefferson Farfan i think :-)

"don't need to look at their wages"??
What dream world are u living in?

Lol lol lol..... all of those firey Dutch players ! Onzin ! lol Means Coddswallup ! :-) :-) Both have temperamentful dispositions, robben and Huntelaar but neither as I see it will be coming to Anfield. Huntelaar wouldn't be such a bad option though. Robben is way too injury prone for the prem for me though.

24 Apr 2012 19:29:26
leeds want to take suso on loan next season? is there any truth in this ed's the scout was watching the reserves against man utd and then again against tooon? even though he got red carded wats going on here {Ed001's Note - are you sure you don't mean Derby? That was who Nigel Clough was supposed to be there to watch.}

And it was Jack robinson they were apparrently watching.

Ya i thought it was JR not suso. but then again what do i know

24 Apr 2012 19:11:51
Eds do you have any info on any other possible friendlies other than those of the American Tour?

Cheers

CSE {Ed001's Note - I heard Shrewsbury, Crewe and Wrexham have all asked, though I don't know if they will happen or not. Those 3 are amongst many that will have asked us about a friendly from the lower leagues, so I wouldn't make plans on visiting those grounds yet!}

Hope we say yes to Crewe might help on convincing them to sell us Powell.

Square tomato {Ed001's Note - that might well be the issue that stops it happening.}

Its very understandable on their part maybe we could let them have him back on loan for six months? Do you know if he is keen on a move ed?

Square tomato

A lot will depend on where we start in the Europa, the 3rd QR begins 5 days after the American dates.

Through the Storm

Eds do you think they will have more games in the American Tour? Liverpool had asked for the opinions from the California fans about their decision on watching the games. Do you think is that a hint about playing in California? {Ed002's Note - There is no plan right now to play in California. The tour will likely include many fringe players due to the Euros and Olympic Games so the chances of going much beyond the midwest seem unlikely.}

Hope players like Sterling and Suso get a chance to prove they should be involved with the first team regularly next season then. Cheers Eds.

CSE

24 Apr 2012 18:35:02
Eds do think Michael Luadrup being cosider as manager {Ed001's Note - right now no one is. Nothing will be decided until the DoF position is sorted.}

I think you'll find that the director of football is already at the club..... kd

24 Apr 2012 18:26:45
Any interest in Marko Marin or Krasic eds? both would be worth a punt. Shabba! {Ed001's Note - I have asked about for you, doubt I will hear anything back tonight though with the Barca-Chelsea game on.}

24 Apr 2012 18:56:15
That sterling to barca was just tweeted by some barca youth team player maybe it ain't crap after all eds?

£50mil, Quenca and Tello then we can talk ;)

Come on then, who was the player?

Was it balliu i saw something like that on his twitter

Only to play for us in the Next Gen

Sterling looks like a john barnes in the making

24 Apr 2012 18:42:22
reports from portugal sayingg that hulk is going to chelsea from some reports either them or man citty (i know its not to us but if chelsea) sturidge recently stated that he wanted first team football all the time? chances of us getting him?

We can't afford him. end of.

If we sign AVB then he is sure to come to us

24 Apr 2012 18:25:32
Just heard that Barca r going for raheem sterling was just shown on barca tv that they are reportedly set to bidd for him around 4-6 mil next season as a future replacement for iniestaaa eds is there any truth in this?? {Ed001's Note - I doubt it.}

Considering he plays a completely different game than iniesta and they already have thiago there? besides, iniesta is only 28.. RUBBISH

Iniesta's only 28, plays in a completely different position and Raheem isn't the type of player Barca need. They dont use wingers. ALexis Sanchez is a striker now

24 Apr 2012 18:07:13
Hi Ed's

After hearing about Aquilani today, do you think/know if anybody at all is interested in him?
If so we could try and sell or use him as a makeweight for someone?
If not i hope we just offer him a mutual termination of his contract and just finish with him.

Dan {Ed001's Note - I don't know of any interest, I am worried we will end up stuck with him.}

Ah, thanks Ed001 :)

Personally with Montilivo leaving Florentina, i'd offer cash plus Aquilani for Jovetic (providing jovetic wanted to join us)

Mutual termination,that's where we pay him large sums of money for him to go away.

I want Aquiliani back in Liverpool. He has been among our best players Wien he plays.

Why isnt he given a chance, it he can get in milans teams he cant be that bad.
People say he dosnt want to be here, but if hes under contract he has no choice surely.

I wouldn't want someone who has no choice being here playing for us.

Sureley he is worth 5m to someone like qpr sunderland fulham everton they usualy by ex good players that have high wages and use to be a name to get the fans exsited and believe they can offer them first team football an hope they get back to fourm.... or we could just keep him as a back up to our back up we could have used him an cole this season pluss hes not that bad just ent worth the 20m we paid for him if we got him for 6m im sure he would have had a very differnt liverpool carrea pluss alonso was a hard act to follow eitha give him a chance or sell him to some russian or chinese side for 6-10 mil i always fort 6m was cheep anyway the lad is only 27 an is ex liverpool ex ac millan ex juventus ex roma and is an italian international we would be as dumb as camoli if we just let him go on a free or for less then 8m

24 Apr 2012 16:51:08
Anything on any free agents eds ?
Theres lots of quality players with expiring contracts this summer like farfan, hoilett, ninis, adler, Srna, diego, douglas and kalou
Any known interest in any of these or any information on where they may be heading
Cheers
LFCHARLIE {Ed001's Note - I haven't heard of any interest from us in any of those.}

24 Apr 2012 18:01:55
ive just read on another site , that kenny will be asked by the owners if he could get 4th place next season with the team , if he says he cant then he wil be replaced , i dont know if its true but its what ive just read ,

so maybe the new owners are going to wait another season to see what kenny can do and maybe there will be only one or two players coming in just to tweak the team , its something camolli said the other month , that part is just me reading between the lines , but the camolli statement would make sense if the story is correct,

,,,,,,,mickey b

We'll be lucky to make top 10 next season with the team we have at the moment.

So from what I've gathered from your post, you're basically just saying that anything can happen. Thanks for the post.

........like that kind of info would be leaked from the boardroom?? Purrrlease!

Can you really honestly see Kenny putting himself in a situation like that. Hes basically sacking himself if he tells the owners that. He will step aside in the summer to avoid being sacked im pretty certain of this.

24 Apr 2012 17:08:02
Any interest in Adebayor eds? Spuds don't want to sign him permenantly? {Ed001's Note - no!!! He is on 160k a week please stop with obviously ridiculous questions about him when it has already been dealt with a thousand times before!}

We realise he is on 160k a week but who can and will pay that? Nobody. Spurs cant, we cant, the other top teams dont want him so he will have to take a pay cut to maybe 100k, which we can pay. Sure we pay that for joe bloody cole!
Jayo {Ed001's Note - we paid Cole 75k.}

24 Apr 2012 16:54:31
It says on the sky sports website and lots of Catalan papers that Barcelona are considering a five million bid for sterling? What's happening in regards to sterling playing next season etc? He's one of the biggest talents in English football IMO cheers Michael

We signed him on a deal worth £5m in the first place, you'd hope we'd reject such an offer

DP

He isn't 18 till December, give the lad a chance

5 million for our biggest prospect?! LMAO. Even for 30 million i wouldn't sell. God i hate Barca, how insulting and arrogant they are.

Eh? 5 million pounds for a 17 year old whose played 10 minutes of first team football? I seriously doubt it mate

What a lie. they cant sign him for another year they have to be 18 to sign a pro contract in spain thats why a lot of english clubs pick up the young spainsh players

Thatss a p***take i saw it earlier on on ESPN hes a quality prospecttt deserves to be playing at the mo

It is NOT on the sky sports website, why lie when we can just check?!

Why don't we do a Barcelona deal? Sell him to them and in 2 years we take him back for the exact same price. Let them see how those deals feel when they're on the receiving end.

24 Apr 2012 16:48:19
eds are intrested in zaha or matt phillips? {Ed001's Note - not as far as I am aware and yes.}

Matt Philips is better whereas Zaha is overrated

Zaha to reddin ... matty to us hes a good sub an a step in the right direction

24 Apr 2012 16:09:39
Eds when will the new DOF will be annouce {Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry.}

24 Apr 2012 16:07:42
Eds are still intrested in munian and soldada {Ed001's Note - not sure right now!}

24 Apr 2012 13:54:45
Ed whats the situation on Granero, Tello, Affellay and adam johnson?
Jav {Ed001's Note - like to move, unlikely to move, will depend on his injury recovery, depends on City's end to the season.}

Id love tello why would they need him if they have the perferd cuenca, villa, sanchez, pedro, and probly bale and wingers arnt really a masive part of there play because the have no hight in the box an are ant intrested in long shots unless its messi shootin obv lol stop being gready barca these imence players need first team football

24 Apr 2012 17:14:45
Hi all,

Regarding Jackson Martinez! Heard nothing sort of that as mentioned by the so called journo from Mexico.
I personally assume there is nothing to it!

Cheers

Armando

No disrespect but you are an ITK or claiming to be one

He's just writing like Macca so people think he has info, when he actually knows f all.

Wow, wow,

I am not an ITK & if you think I am acting like or to be one of them then I think I will try not to sound like one of them in the future. AM just sharing my thoughts.
Cheers

Armando

24 Apr 2012 16:08:28
Are Liverpool interested in the following...

1) Nolito-Benfica

2) Luc Castaignos-Inter

3) Gregory Van Der Wiel-Ajax

4) Rasmus Elm-AZ Alkmaar

And also a story on sky news says aqualani future is uncertain and he could be forced to return to liverpool

Luc catiagnos had a secret visit to liverpool in january and met dalgliesh but inter did not want to do buissness at that moment i got this news from tribalfootball try it out good website

24 Apr 2012 16:01:00
Ed, do you think Johnson will be sold in the summer. Whilst he may be good going forward defensively he is not that solid. If we sign a decent winger it will be all the more important that our right back can defend diligently. Do you think we can get our money back on him? Reality Red {Ed001's Note - I believe he is available for sale, whether anyone will buy him or not is a different matter!}

He fits the transfer policy in my opinion Johnson would be a great signing

You forgot to mention ed that we wont get what we paid for him :))

Why do we want to sell the current england right full. Sure he is not great defending but look at the best full backs in the world e.g. Dani alves, marcelo, clichy etc, none are great defenders but v.good going forward. Concentrate on sorting the positions needed e.g. Striker, rw.
Jayo {Ed001's Note - but he offers little going forward either.}

24 Apr 2012 15:41:32
Strong rumour Txiki Bergestain to be the next DOF.

Ozone

I can see a hole in your rumour.

24 Apr 2012 15:28:11
Jackson Martinez? Macca?

Personally i would rather sign Martinez.

I highly doubt we'll sign macca, but stranger things have happened.

Me too.

No idea mate, sorry..

Cheers

Macca

No problem mate.
Thanks for your great efforts...

24 Apr 2012 15:12:21
Eds, should kenny stand down at the end of the season, do you fell Frank de Boer could be a potential replacement?

Many thanks
Amz {Ed001's Note - he is certainly someone I would expect to be considered, I expect the DoF to be involved in choosing any replacement.}

Call me a dreamer but if he doesn't bring Eriksen and Van der Wiel along then no thanks...

Kenny is not going so get used to it he is the right man to take us forward

24 Apr 2012 14:56:41
Hi Ed's/Macca, hope you're well!

Just regarding the 'sinister Comolli' thing. You said you'd rather mention it until it's been confirmed, well can you shed any light on what it is he is said to have done please? I used the search button but the most I could get is that he asked for Mata, Kenny got Downing? Was that what you meant by sinister?

Also, do you know of any truth in these Jackson Martinez rumours I've seen today that we've paid part of the fee or something?

Cheers for all the work, very much appreciated!
Ell. {Ed001's Note - it was nothing to do with that. I know nothing of any deal for Martinez, sorry.}

It was posted here before but got removed. The claims made by (if I remember correctly) Richards wasn't confirmed but agreed by Macca, I think the eds will post anything relating to that topic here because the issue is a little bit sensitive.

STB

24 Apr 2012 14:45:56
This Jackson to Liverpool is bogus, if you read the full story Zambrano also states "They will quickly loan him out to another club, which is the way they do things in Europe." now why would we buy a 25 year old for around 9 million euros then loan him out, this is another case of poor journalism, hope this puts it to bed eds

Thats if he isn't eligible for a work permit. I expect you will quickly compose a long-winded letter of apology to send to Mr Zambrano for sullying his name

Martin

If it was for a work permit then he wouldn't be bought

24 Apr 2012 14:05:50
i heard Gerrard is leaving. only player with value (22m) g Johnson (14m) kuyt (8m)

Who is gonna pay that for gerrard? Dont be silly!

Oh my god ed where do you pull these guy from?

Whoever wrote this comment should leave his comments swimming around his head!

I heard you are talking carp

22 million for a 32 year old who has struggled with injuries this season?

I think your copy of football manager is a couple of years out of date.

22million for 32 year old. I would bit the hand off any club for that money, and i love gerrard! But hes not the player he was unfortunately

Can't see it tbh, I wouldn't sell him anyway he's been our best player for the last 8-10 years

Absolute rubbish

SmoKIng cr*ck again I see

To the original poster......I couldn't agree more mate.
I have a 1989 Ford Fiesta, 176,000mls, 2 mths tax for sale. You can have it for a bargain £4,995 !
ANFIELDPETE

Xabi, Masch, Torres, Keane, Arbeloa, Johnson, Gerrard, Reina, Suarez, Aquilani etc.

And replaced with rot - cheapo Adam, free Spearing etc etc

We keep having our stars stolen by our owners... And they will keep doing that until the fans stand up for themselves.

24 Apr 2012 13:57:07
Jackson Martinez is set for a summer switch to Liverpool, according to Mexican sports journalist Jorge Zambrano.

In an interview with RCN-Antena 2, Zambrano revealed: "Jackson is a player from another part of the world, and so the Liverpool board have already made a downpayment of 3 of the 9 million dollars," he claimed.

"Now I can safely say that Jackson is a Liverpool player."

Zambrano also believes Liverpool could look to loan the player out to gain experience, which would be a somewhat strange move to make since the player is already 25.

"They will quickly loan him out to another club, which is the way they do things in Europe."

The "Loan" part of this story suggests its all rubbish..& unbelievable.

People are idiots, why would we buy a 25 year old and then loan him out, makes no sense at all, this report is bogus, not saying he didnt say it but its not true

If these stories are true, then I'm a little confused as to who it is who actually want's to sign this Jackson Martinez fella for Liverpool?

Is he one of Comolli's old targets?

Is he a player Kenny wants to bring in?

Does the new D.O.F (whoever the hell he might be) want him?

Or is he one of the new manager's targets (should Kenny leave after the cup-final)?

I really haven't got a clue who does what job at Anfield anymore?

Try signing the Jackson 5. Jackson who? Why doesn't someone get a grip and face up to reality.- We can't even get rid of Aquilani! Liverpool fans are watching too many TV repeats of Fantasy Island!

We will pay 9 million to loan a player while we badly need two quality strikers..
I'm sorry poor poor reporting then ..

24 Apr 2012 13:32:30
van der wiel's move to valencia seems to be off and it looks like he is looking for a new club. I personally prefer johnson over him, but if we were to sell johnson eds do you think he is an option? {Ed001's Note - if the stories about the move breaking down over his wage demands are true, I would doubt we would match them.}

Hmmm... another fan awoken from his slumber. It all sounds too good to be true.

24 Apr 2012 13:17:51
Got this quote from a FB page - Liverpool FC latest/ Transfer news/ Rumours/ Scores, they are the people that said this morning that £3m out of the £9m had already been paid - One of the most credible journalist in Mexico, Jorge Zambrano: "Now I can safely say that Jackson is a LFC player."

Tugger

24 Apr 2012 12:46:20
Liverpool has already paid part of the transfer of Jackson Martinez. Jorge Zambrano (ESPNDeportes) said. The word in Mexico is that he's more or unless a Liverpool player.

Can we get some clearance on what is going on with Martinez, eds or Macca? Are the reports of us putting a down payment on him true? He's got a half decent scoring record to be fair, I'd take a punt.

Nico {Ed001's Note - sorry, no idea.}

Eds, isn't his contract up in the summer? Or that's what i've read. {Ed001's Note - I don't believe the Martinez we are linked with is out of contract in the summer. But I could be checking up the wrong Martinez, so I would not take that as gospel.}

Here is some clearance... Get real! The club continue to hold on to a history that is slowly dying, so any ideas of new blood, don't make any sense. Any player who comes to play for Liverpool these days, can't seem to play like they did before. The only thing they do know, is how to fill their pockets and then move on.

What rumours? Here are the facts: Mid-table club holding onto a history which is slowly fading. Buy the most expensive forward who can't score, or play football. Expect a King to deliver on his promises, when he, himself can't even give a credible interview anymore. Put a 'For Sale' sign on LFC now, and be done with it. Whatever clearance your looking for, is a clearance sale at Liverpool Football Club. Fans forget very quickly how good the team played football once. What's left is mediocre wrapped up in red shirts. The only payments I would give, would be their P45's!

Whats with all the hating on LFC?! YNWA!!

There is no hate, but love for this football club. The hate comes from players wearing red shirts who don't know what it stands for?

Hi eds, Richard Buxton's said that AC Milan have decided against signing Aquilani so aren't going to play him in remaining games so the deal doesn't automatically go through. Know if there's any truth in this? If this is the case where do you see his future now that 2 Italien giants have turned their noses up at him in successive seasons. {Ed001's Note - it's true. They don't want him. I really don't care what happens to him, he has messed up his own career with his poor attitude, just release him.}

That is a shame... he had the potential to be a class player. Eds do you know if Liverpool are going to keep him? I understand he didn't like England when he was here, but would he re-consider his future at the club now? Surely he doesn't want to end up playing in the Serie B. I think he would be great even if we used him as a squad player. {Ed001's Note - he is a very average, lazy and injury prone waste of a shirt.}

Release him are you mad, he is a good player, we should make him stay with us regardless of what he wants, he is 27 and an Italian international.

Why would this be I have not seen him play but I understand that he has been impressive this year. Can his attitude be that bad?

Havent really watched much italian footy since channel 4 stopped showing so cant comment on how he's done in Italy except for what I read in papers.

I will say that I thought something was going on in the background while he was at anfield because he was clearly talented yet 3 different managers didnt really want him around or give him a chance.

Shame, because we are certainly missing someone that can break teams down from midfield. I'm sure if he had the right attitude Rafa, Woy and KK would have done their best to keep him at Liverpool.

Barrypool

How has he got a poor attitude, dalglish wassaying how well he conducted him self last year, and just wantewd to play football. {Ed001's Note - yes, funny how often a player a club wants rid of is talked up isn't it?}

Don't you think the entire deal of loaning him out was a huge blunder! We ended up paying his wages for two years and we could not strike a deal to sell him.
@ed! He is average! fair enough, how about adam and henderson? are they extra ordinary? {Ed001's Note - they are better than him and they try, which is a huge improvement over Aquilani.}

I really do think that Liverpool should thrash out an understanding with him.

He looked bang on during Pre-season, and was superb.

Lao ED 1, u are high. Aquilani does everything better than Adam. You say he is lazy if he is lazy then why does he have more assists than Adam??. Aquilani on top form can be right up there with Modric, Kaka and Sneijder...I agree that he doesn't like England but does Carlos Tevez say that now at this moment??!!?. NO, hence u never know..... {Ed001's Note - well he certainly feigns injury and fools desperate fans better than Adam, obviously.}

The thing is ed. Neither of them are better than him. Effort-wise probably yeh. Doesnt matter anyway coz like u said aqua will defo be gone i reckon. Hope we sign an attackin mid though, preferbly Gaston Ramirez. {Ed001's Note - and their pay put together only equals his.}

We should use him as a make weight for G.Ramirez!
Perfect for all parties?

Why is there still so much support for this lazy, over-rated primma donna fascist. {Ed001's Note - because people are idiots?}

Rafa said there was nothing wrong him when he claimed to be injured and that there was something wrong with his head.I don't know about you guys but he's the type of player I don't like the type that doesn't want to play for Liverpool but still gets paid by the club!

ChinUp

I am with Ed all the way on this one.A pretty touch here and there does not make him a good player.Get whatever we can for him and forget him.I fail to see how people can want someone who has made it clear he does not want to play for LFC
CR

I disagree that he's better than Henderson. People forget that he's 21/22 and will still improve massively, imo he's the long term replacement for Stevie g
YNWA

So.

He's coming back? or is his contract ending in the summer? i hope so, can't believe there are so many liverpool fans saying they would welcome him back.

Ed, is his contract up or are we stuck with him? {Ed001's Note - stuck with him until 2014, unless we can find someone to take him.}

This a con so we let him go for nothing come over here for big salary funded by liverpool played in italy for which we paid,italian con man t...er

Aquilani set for return to Anfield as Milan go cold on permanent deal u no anything about this eds or is the just to make a story {Ed001's Note - they don't want him, he has been a big disappointment, they have complained about his weight, lack of effort in training and numerous other issues. They were never going to want him permanently.}

Shows what ED002 knows. Last week he was saying he was certain aquas deal would be made permanent {Ed001's Note - no, he said if he made one more appearance it would trigger the permanent signing.}

A little bird has song, FSG is planning to secure the Future, by launching a raid on Ajax. seems the plan is to hire johan cruyff as comolis replacement, he willl then pull frank de boer, who will then persvade vertongen and eriksen, to follow him, michael laudrup is to be pointed as head of youth development, due to knowledge of how cryuff runs things, truth be told i dont know what to believe, sounds to major for me to be likely...

It does sound to major but I believe there will be a major shake up behind the scenes.
CR

A little bird eh,must be a woodpecker looking for a meal.

I wish this was true, but i very much doubt it

Cruyff and Laudrup never got on, their lack of a professional relationship caused Laudrup to move from Barca to Madrid. I respect both men hugely and were two of the best players i've ever seen but there history of alienating people doesn't make me confident about them running our football club. Was annoyed enough at Benitez doing it.

Laudrup and cryuff actualyu got along great, the reason michael decided to go was to find a new challenge, cryuffs only problem whit laudrup was when he played, he always only gave 90% but laudrup was still much better than everyone else, wich i can understand both sides off, doubt theres any bad will between em.

Jackson Martinez will NOT be joining this summer I can promise you this, I'm not to sure who will be joining but I can totally rule out the capture of Martinez. Good job your doing here Eds keep it up!

Do you know where he is going, or just that Liverpool is not interested?

Thanks,

CSeiling

Who can promise us this?

You'd be more believable if you could spell.

Can you name this poster Edd so we can take notice of all his posts {Ed001's Note - he didn't leave a name sorry.}

Hi Ed i read lot of rumours regarding kk that he will quit in summer. Hw much truth in these rumour. if it s true who is front runner to replace kenny. thanx {Ed001's Note - I expect him to step aside, I don't know who is likely to replace him.}

Hey Eds, great work as always.

Ed001 a few weeks ago you were not convinced Kenny would leave at the end of the season; now you are expecting the King to step aside and be replaced. Did anything happen to change your mind?

Thanks
Fadi {Ed001's Note - I said I didn't expect him to be sacked, I still don't. I also said the decision had not yet been made, which it hadn't, and I expected it to be made at the end of the season. It seems they didn't want to wait, though Dalglish is not defo going, the DoF will decide who he wants to work with. I would just expect any incoming DoF will want his own man to coach the team.}

morning eds, I was hoping you might be able to answer a question. have seen quite a few posts of late talking about the owners investing substantially again in the playing squad. I also note Macca talked about "Big Changes" in one of his more recent posts. My question is do the eds think that there will be considerable expenditure in the summer or is it a bit of wishful thinking by the fans?

I personally can't imagine them plowing in another 100 million, but obviously I'd love them too. Given it looks like Kenny will be moving onto a new role the manager will recieve some funds but can they really go for it again like last year.

Good work on the sitea nd I look forward to your responses

Andy {Ed002's Note - I don't expect substantial spending.}

Why do people keep sayin the owners ploughed in 100 mill. they only spent 30 mil net, after torres etc. one decent splurge now, n then we can just add one player a season like Man Utd do. lincoln red.

Lincoln red.... your maths is amazing!!

Torres = 50m
Carroll + Suarez = +50m

and then Henderson and Downing already exceeds 30m. Plus we bought Adam, Enrique and Coates. I don't know how you did your maths but I can't work out where you got your net 30m from.

Also at this time of the day shouldn't you be in school?

Why do people say he is going to get another job in the club he is no use to liverpool

Actually mate, it's people like you who are no good to Liverpool. Buy yourself a dictionary and look up 'loyalty' and 'support'

What about the Sales of Babel, Insua and Mereiles to name a few! That's another 20 Million!
30/40M Nett Spend is about right!

As I understand it the model for the club has not changed, therefore the owners will invest in younger players with a sell on value once they near the twilight of their careers or sold for large profit to reinvest in the future and balance the books i.e. a capital expenditure.
If this is still the case there is not a transfer budget as such but an eye for a capital investment in a commodity (a player) so the owners will in theory be willing within reason to purchase a player that will balance the books over the length of their career.
It is my understanding that is why the DOF role is so important to ensurewe get the right player at the right price. We need someone in this role that the owners can rely upon to say this player is a wise investment regardless of the initial asking price as they are either undervalued or can be profitable in future years.
In this model we can spend £6million or £60million with equal confidence, this is why Comolli messed up as last summers expenditure cannot be recouped with future sales as we overpaid for all targets.
Lets also remember that it appears the longterm view of the owners appears to be new signings should be for the youth and new first team players should come from there. So especially with the expenditure of expanding Anfield on the horison at least the days of spending big on established players would appear to be numbered (thank God) as we will spend smaller numbers on numerous youth prospects in the hope that a few become world beaters.
TSB

We Sold:

Torres - £50m
Babel - £6m
Miereles - £11m
Insua - £1m

Total - £68m sales

We Brought:

Suarez - £22m
Carroll - £35m
Downing - £20m
Henderson - £16m
Enrique - £6m
Adam - £6m
Coates - £7m

Total - £112m

Owners provided £44m for transfers not the £100m that is mentioned all the time.

You may want to check this site out before Lincoln red gets home from school.
http://www.transferleague.co.uk/premiership-transfers/liverpool-transfers.html

By my maths the net spend over the last two seasons is £30,200,00.

The net spend is far lower than people think once all of the money from the sales are added up, plus the amount of rubbish third rate players that the club aquired over the last couple of year are gone, include their weekly wages, and KK has not actually spent anything like as much as people keep saying, KK has overseen a major clear out of players that would never make the first team yet are costing us money hand over fist! I expect KK to be in charge next year having bought I hope a proven goal scorer/poacher ( if robbie fowler was playing today, he would have put 30 away already this season ) everything else is in place. If after supporting liverpool as I have for the last 30 odd years, you had asked me if I would be happy finishing this season with one cup (very poss two cups) and back in europe next season I would have bitten your hand off. The europe league will 'help' attract players (i concede CL would be better), however it will be fantastic way to get this new younger lot used to european nights at anfield the possibility of winning the europa cup and if so the super cup as well. You don't get much for 7/8/9th in the league so for this year forget the league. I think we are 200% better off this year than last. In KK I trust.

In the three transfer windows since the Americans' takeover, £114m has been spent on senior players but £77m of that has been recouped through sales, chiefly those of Fernando Torres, Ryan Babel, Raul Meireles and David Ngog,Insua..a host of other fringe players has been released or sold to bring down the annual wage bill..while other high earning players like maxi,kuyt,johnson,aurelio would not be a part of the squad from next season ..we won a cup(maybe 2 ) and are in europe next season..so i dont see a reason why the owners wont spend another 30 -40 million + sales.. considering those kit deals and business they have managed to do..we just need a manager who knows how to spend the money on the right players..

24 Apr 2012 15:31:35
When people mention about net spend being between £30-£40m, the following website might help explain how they came to that figure:

Liverpool have supposedly made their first step in capturing Jackson Martinez. Jorge Zambrano from ESPN - Deportes has stated that LFC paid their first installment of 3m euros to Jaguares.

CEASE

It is 3 mill dollars not euros.

Have it from a very reliable source that Pepe WILL be leaving over the summer - Believe Malaga are top of the list of potential destinations - Replacement will be Adam Federici of Reading FC

Give your head a wobble.

I also got a feeling he will leave, would prefer Vorm

Malaga signed kameni in january, unreasonable sign another gk

Tim Krul from Newcastle, it is a good choice for me. (Just opinion).

David James coming back to Liverpool to replace Pepe, bruce Grobelar as back up.

If we're smaller than Malaga, we really have had it...

I have heard that too from a friend they are said to be going all out in the summer.

I have a gut feeling he'll leave too. His performances this year suggest he's hearts not in it anymore given our current status. Shame....I would be surprised if we went for Federici though. As an Aussie I rate him but would be surprised if we didn't go for someone not proven at the top already. MD4

Malaga have been taken over and are cash rich, maybe not citys equals but not far off, they could be in the market as a major rebuild is underway, they will make some major signings un the summer

Pepe doesn't save that many these days anyway.

Malaga has money so do Reading. They are now one of the richest clubs in U.K. since they are now owned by a Russian billionaire.They have the means to keep Frederici if he is that good.

As a Reading season ticket holder (Family supports Reading), but i'm a strong LFC fan as well, I highly doubt Reading will sell any players, they want to grow rather than shrink.

Hi eds, there's a few reports in the media of Liverpool considering 'bidding' for Benfica's Nolito. Have we looked at him, and is there interest? I'm guessing it's nonsense, but just want a second opinion. Cheers. {Ed002's Note - Seems very speculative.}

We didn't went for him, when he was free. Even at that point of time, he was linked with us. I believe, its nthng more than media speculation. YNWA Trustme

AVB will be the new manager and will be given 163 million euro to spend and you lads will buy the best players around and will do a domestic treble next year Danny

163 that is a very specific amount, surely they would budget 160 or 165. I hope its true ( the money not the avb bit) but I doubt it. Perhaps if you could tell us where you heard this Danny?

We'd need a damn sight more than 163 million Euros to turn us even into a PL winning side - unless of course we spend it on getting Mourinho.

The person is obviously taking the mikey.

AVB.... he who failed @ chelski

I heard it was 163.17534 million euros could be something init

This certainly rates as one of the most ridiculous posts I have read.

Hey eds great site
Do LFC still have interest in Cristain tello (spelling).

Keep up the great work.
YNWA {Ed002's Note - I know that Balague has said that Tello's contract is up this year but that is not my understanding and I very much expect that Barcelona will offer him a new deal. As for interest from Liverpool I don't know how serious it is but I understand the player has been watched. There is also some interest from Valencia and from Porto. There is a possibility of a loan to Valencia as part of another deal I am informed.}

Ed a columbian journalist is reporting that we have put a 3m pound starting payment down for jackson martinez. DO you know if this is true? {Ed002's Note - I don't know, sorry.}

I think that is true

I dont want him at the club.. he is a great player but he doesnt suit LFC playing style

He knows where the goal is like! {Ed023's Note - So does the 40 plus thousand in attendance}

24 Apr 2012 07:43:13
Liverpool are ready to make a £15m move for Benfica midfielder Nolito, according to reports in Portugal.
The 25-year-old joined the Portuguese giants last summer after snubbing a contract offer from Barcelona.

The 25-year-old has signed a contract until 2015, but Portuguese newspaper Record are claiming Benfica would consider offers in the region of £15million.

Kenny Dalglish is set to make a number of signings during the summer as he targets a top four place next season.

24 Apr 2012 07:05:21
Rumours that Kenny has told the owners in last meeting that he will step aside at end of season due to health problems .. No announcement untill the cup final , also there is talks with Txiki Begiristain to be the new DOF and he will choose the new manager that he want to work with . FSG want Txiki to convince Guardiola to come with him but that unlikely now .. Emre and Rafa is the 2 others options preferred by Begiristain .

Rafa and Director Of Football seems unlikely.
I think Rijkaard could be a possibility if Txiki Begiristain comes

Am I the only person who finds comments about Kenny leaving the club due to ill health as disrespectful? I personally think KK will walk away from the club wit h hopefully 2 cup wins and his head held high

Who would want Guardiola?
Personally the man who has the best players, best youth system and huge transfer budgets that cannot win the domestic league everytime may not be the best option. He is obviously a talented manager but i have never seen a change of tactics from to overcome the likes of Chelsea away from home and that would worry me about him.
Wont happen anyway

Wont happen but he is clearly an excellent manager.Other managers have had good players,good youth and money and have failed.Losing the league title to Real Madrid who are managed by another great manager does not make him a poor manager.
Never heard so much rubbish.

No mate your not the only one to find the comments about Kenny's health repulsive.

Why would Guardiola need to change tactics when his team has more than 30 shots on target and 70% possession every game. Not really his fault his team can't score when they're 1-on-1, miss an open net or keep hitting the post (pretty much Dalglish's case).

24 Apr 2012 06:06:38
Quick question for the eds; Seen a rumour about our apparent interest in Nolito of Benfica - any legs in this or just another shot in the dark? {Ed002's Note - See earlier answers.}

Any news on the Stadium plans Ps keep up the good work Eds ! {Ed001's Note - nothing since the announcement we are staying at Anfield.}

That a joke ed or have i missed something? {Ed001's Note - no joke.}

What announcement? Nothing official has come from the club.

Hi Ed - I missed that one! I know Macca said this but I haven't seen any 'official' statement? When and where was that announced?
The Goatherder
JFT96

I too would like to know when this announcement was made and by who. i try to keep up with as much as i can but i do work for a living and i have obviously missed this one. could you clarify this one please ed. thanks.
foginspector. {Ed001's Note - it was widely reported, you will have to find it yourself, I don't have time to look up a link that google can show you.}

The LFC site doesnt mention anything, so have to assume its not official yet. I've searched google but cant find anything either.

Come on Ed...... help us out mate!! What are you referring to?

Red G {Ed001's Note - it was definitely said, in an interview, which was followed closely by the plans for the regeneration of the area being released.}

24 Apr 2012 12:47:08
Eds are totally wrong on this one.
Even the Liverpool Echo reporting 'No decision yet'.
We could indeed stay at Anfield BUT no official announcement yet!

http://www.liverpoolecho.co.uk/views/our-view/2012/04/20/the-plans-of-everton-fc-and-liverpool-fc-fans-for-a-football-quarter-are-exciting-and-deserve-praise-100252-30798720/

This is correct i saw it at the time. THe plans are to redevelop Anfield and surrounding area in a hope to create a more of a day long experience when coming to a game with a Liverpool Avenue i think it was called with Liverpool shops and pubs etc this will ensure the club gain the money spent by all fans on the game day experience rather than the breweries and touts etc it sounds exciting and the correct move from an econmic point of view as wont line us with stadium debt and wont interupt revenue streams from ticket prices etc.

I have just spent the last 30mins hitting google from every angle i can think of regarding this announcement for the redevelopment of anfield, now i am by no means an internet whizz kid but i can usually find what iam looking for, but despite the enormity of the announcement i cannot find anything. can anyone help me out with some key words or dates so i can put this one to bed. thanks
foginspector

Sorry ed obv u have more knowledge than all of us when i comes to Liverpol but I check this site every few hours and have neverseen anything definative about the decision to stay at anfield.
I have also googled and yahood it and can c nothing do u have a link on this.

Lurgan Red {Ed001's Note - I don't have a link, or the time right now to find it again for you, sorry. I will try and find it as soon as I get the chance.}

Tried googling it ed but i can't find anything! suspect you're right though with all the regeneration that's going around the place, it seems they're preparing for a redevelopment

This is turning into a right phantom announcement this is, people saying they have seen it but cannot tell us when, were or by whom, sorry to bang on about it, but its not like its a minor point is it.

Ed001 is completely wrong on this one I am afraid...there was an announcement from the council of the regeneration of the anfield area this summer....just google anfield regenration and you will find the announcemnt....I am not saying that we will not redevelop anfield but there has been no official announcement from the cub....may be a sign though that we will be staying at anfield or not...lol
