Eds, do you know anything on this? I'm suppressing my joy until you guys(the Eds) say it's happening.

There is so much talk about Bacca but in my opinion his national team mate, Gutierrez, is a much better striker.
Eds - do we know if he is of interest to an EPL team? if so which team is interested in Gutierrez? Thanks!

Believable1 Unbelievable2

{Ed002's Note - The only EPL side to have shown interest in the past year is Spurs as far as I am aware. And I don't see anything happening with him from the EPL.}

23 Jun 2015 17:31:01
Hi eds, reds,

Reports emerging that we are in interested in Bacca over the last few days. As an ed pointed out everyone is interested in bacca as he was the best striker in la liga outside the top 2 last season.
Its also reported that he would be keen on a move to the prem?

My question is to the eds knowledge would he be interested in a move to Liverpool? At 28 and already at a very good team I could only see him wanting to move to prem contenders?
Is this just another story to fill the back pages?

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The player has said he is happy with Sevilla and the future plans the club has. His agent has however made unsolicited approaches to English sides.}

23 Jun 2015 18:49:29
Thanks ed,

Always the agents! After a good season probably trying to to get his client a transfer or a new contract = payout for himself

23 Jun 2015 18:50:19
Best striker outside the top 2 was Griezmann at Atletico. No pens, 22 goals

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 18:54:09
Has his agent approached Liverpool?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes.}

23 Jun 2015 19:34:28
Ed2 his agent approached Liverpool, are Liverpool interested or not??

Thank

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I have explained over and over that Liverpool were looking at him again at the end of the season. Other clubs have been interested and some have turned away over his demands to be playing as a first choice.}

23 Jun 2015 19:38:13
Top 3 then amerigo 😉

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 20:37:44
Ed002- Liverpool would be silly not to offer him first choice given our recent striking issues. Do you think a deal could be reached for him

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Typically clubs are not keen to make such commitments.}

23 Jun 2015 20:51:49
Does make sense not too guarentee football but I definitely think he would improve the squad. Would be nice if we could get him in and other possible targets mentioned like Firmino and Kovacic. I won't hold my breath because we seem to mess up on one big deal never mind three but here's to hoping. Cheers for the constant updates Eds

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 21:18:08
Best striker in La Liga outside of top 2 . Erm, you ever heard of griezmann???

Lol.

23 Jun 2015 22:02:09
Gokes, I think they are also forgetting about a little Uruguayan?

I meant top 2 clubs, I believe the little Uruguayan plays for one of them!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 17:18:25
Hi eds, are we interested in Rondon, Sky sports said we have held talks with him, i don't rate him much, i think the money would be better spent on bacca or firmino personallly.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool has certainly shown interest in him previously.}

23 Jun 2015 20:11:23
Ed do you see Rondon as an upgrade on what we already have?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He is not dissimilar to Lambert - how much game time would he be satisfied with?}

23 Jun 2015 13:04:05
So in summary for firmino.
Lots of clubs want him and will meet the asking price. i'd say man utd, city and us are the top 3. Utd for me in pole position then us then city. Upto the player i guess but don't get your hopes up. If city didn't have ffp issues he'd already be theirs imho. Ed2 am i completely wrong or sort of there buddy.

Believable1 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Not entirely, something else cropped up as well. It doesn't mean something cannot be done.}

23 Jun 2015 18:39:02
What has cropped up Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He wants guarantees.}

23 Jun 2015 19:01:18
Out of the three clubs mentioned, surely we can guarantee more playing time?

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 19:01:59
Game time guarantees ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, and that is why the move to Manchester City stalled.}

23 Jun 2015 19:03:37
Guarantees? I'm guessing that it's playing week in week out then and not sitting in the bench

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 19:15:36
Ed002

Do you know what the clubs stance is on those guarantees? Would they commit in order to get a transfer done? Or are they thinking about it, with other targets in mind?

Thanks in advance

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Most clubs won't commit to guarantees such as that - perhaps Liverpool will.}

23 Jun 2015 19:29:08
If Hoffenheim granted permission to talk to the player via the appropriate route (representatives & agents) whilst he was still at the Copa America, could Brazil put a stop to it, so it doesn't take his concentration off the tournament?

Thanks in advance again Eds

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Yes, they would also need to agree.}

23 Jun 2015 20:07:42
Don't think firmino needs guarantees on playing at LFC - he will walk straight into our starting line up 😜

23 Jun 2015 14:09:56
Hi Eds,

What's the latest on Skrtel?
There were reports a few weeks back that he was about to sign a new contract? However if I remember correctly I read on here that only 'some form of agreement had been reached' but you weren't sure exactly what that agreement was?

Do you have any update on the situation? Is he as suspected getting a new contract or is he possibly moving elsewhere?

Believable3 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I still don't know mate, it is all just conjecture at the moment. The only thing I know is that he initially rejected a reduced contract and publicly criticised the club for offering it. Since then some kind of agreement was reached between the parties, nothing was signed though. The only issue now was whether nothing was signed because he was on holiday or because it was agreed that it was time to part ways. Having seen that the club has since moved to guarantee Ilori, who plays the same position, first team football for next season, it would suggest that it was likely to be the latter.}

23 Jun 2015 15:09:08
I'd let him go and play ilori can't do any worse in my opinion and at least we could keep a higher defensive line with him in the team

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 15:16:46
Thanks Ed, much appreciated.

That was my thoughts on the situation; Ilori being promised game time must surely mean a CB is being moved on.

The other alternative could be Rogers plans to stick with 3 at the back (Hopefully not) Therefore 5 CB's wouldn't be seen as excessive

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 15:55:48
That's great news about Illori.

It's sounding promising that we may actually sign some quality players that we are being linked with. Quite early to tell, I know, but this with hearing how Ibe & a few other youngsters may actually make their break through is starting to make me feel a bit more positive about things.

Still looking forward to seeing who we replace Marsh & Pascoe with.

Come on The Reds.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 16:17:13
why not give llori a chance. he is quite obviously talented we have so many centre backs already at the club skrtls lack of communication and recklessess is too hard for anyone to deal with llori should start alongside sahko. is anyone interested in skrtl though?

Agree2 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 16:34:39
Whenever I've seen llori play its always left centre back and skittles plays right? Is llori both footed?

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 16:41:22
Inter declared an interest in Skrtel I believe but it will all just be guess work and hear say until he returns from his holiday.
We will soon know after that as we will see if he signs a contract!!

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 16:43:41
I really,really hope you are right Ed.It would be a absolute sin to let the talents of Ilori slip away.As I said yesterday he has to be given a fair chance.

23 Jun 2015 20:01:50
Just got in from work and catching up with the latest.
If you're right about Ilori being guaranteed game time next season, it's the best news I've heard in a long time. I think he'll turn out to be a class act. I actually work with his cousin (she's on holiday at present) but I'll be asking her when she returns. Cheers Ed, made my day that mate

Hey Eds,
Yous know if it's true that Ilori is being offered a new contract?

Believable4 Unbelievable2

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, but I would think his dad would know, and he certainly thinks there is a new one being negotiated with himself.}

23 Jun 2015 14:18:20
So his dad says yes, that's good news! You wouldn't negotiate a new contract if you wanted to leave and wouldn't play. Hope he gets a shot!

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 14:27:50
Great news if true.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 14:29:47
Just made a post about this. Read an article that said his dad had been assured he will get a chance to prove himself and illori refused a loan and declined to be sold. Not sure how reliable it was though

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 15:10:31

Agree0 Disagree2

23 Jun 2015 15:47:09
Rightly so Illori is a good young player hopefully him and Sakho can form a good solid partnership as if Skrtel goes that leaves Toure who will be a bit part player i'd imagine and Lovren who hopefully will be a better player next season fighting for the CB positions.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 13:21:06
Ed you have already stated to me in a previous post that the clubs in don't hang on Sterling leaving.

Well without Sterling going do you believe the following players are possible?

Bacca/Firmino
Kovacic
Clyne

Are we in talks for all of them and if we are do ylu believe the club can get them through the door?

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - possible, but no we are not currently in talks with all of them and no I do not believe we will get 3 of those 4.}

23 Jun 2015 14:27:35
Which do you think qe will get? As u said 3 out of 4. Kovacic?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I never said we will get 3 out of the 4, quite the opposite Reet.}

23 Jun 2015 14:49:19
Firmino is well overated,hope we don't sign him. Bacca is the type of striker we need.I would go as far as to say he's better than costa.

Agree0 Disagree2

23 Jun 2015 15:04:53
ed001, by this do you mean we will not secure be able to secure as many as 3 of the aforementioned 4 players, or that of those 4 names, there are three who you do not believe will join specifically e.g. firmino bacca and clyne ?
I hope this question isn't convoluted
Kind Regards
South Aussie Red

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sorry I should have explained better, he was saying either/or regarding Bacca and Firmino, which is why I said about 3 of the 4. We never buy players I like, so that means the only one who is likely is Clyne, who I don't think would suit us, and we have not upped our offer on him yet, so he is not that likely either as things stand. Hopefully Inter end up having to sell Kovacic to fund their rebuild, but I wouldn't hold your breath on that as they will do anything to avoid dealing with us right now.}

23 Jun 2015 15:19:09
Ed1
that's what I'm asking mate. Which one player do you think we will get?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I wasn't saying that mate, that was my point.}

23 Jun 2015 16:27:07
Ed1
Ok buddy. I understand what you meant. Thick brain 😧

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - you are just getting old Reet, it is all that talk with the dinosaurs on the TV page. All that talk about radios has dulled your youthful mind to the point where you want everything to be beige and your trousers are pulled up to your chest. You will be wearing corderoy next.}

23 Jun 2015 16:35:55
Ed. I thought the Kovacic fee was agreed?
I was going to ask if that was the case, do you know of why it's taking so long to be finalised?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Inter are trying to do other deals so they won't have to deal with us.}

23 Jun 2015 17:12:37
What have we done to inter Ed? Kicking themselves for selling coutinho perhaps?thanks

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - just messed them about.}

23 Jun 2015 18:08:49
You say Eds you don't think Clyne would be suited to us, myself personally have not seen enough of him to pass judgement. I think Kovacic is a luxury we don't need as I hope we play a midfield 3 of Milner, Can & Henderson with Lucas, Allen, Rossiter & even Lallana can play there. So my question is Ed we've been linked with the 3 South American lads today, do you think at all possible of getting Firmino & Bacca?, from bits I've seen both look quality & a front 3 of them 2 & Coutinho would be mouth watering, also what's your personal opinion on them 2 as players & if in your opinion they'd be a good fit at Liverpool?
Thanks in advance Eds

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I do think they would both be improvements on the team and so would walk straight in. I really can not see us getting both though. They would be good players, Coutinho and Firmino seem to mesh well, but where would that leave Ings and Origi? What about Lallana? We really need to sort some outs first in my opinion.}

23 Jun 2015 21:58:26
I understand what you mean Ed about Ings, Origi & Lallana but if we want to do well in all competitions surely all will get a chance, as we all know we'll be very lucky to get 15-20 games from Sturridge & with injuries, suspensions ect I'm sure will all get a chance. Hope Sky's report just now that we've agreed a deal is true but until I see it on club website I'll hold expectations. Glad that you say he goes well with Coutinho, the thought of 2 little magicians in the side, a good solid performer in Milner & hot young prospect in Ings I'm looking forward to the season. I hope you all the luck in the world for the silly season between now & deadline day :-)

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - whereas I think the best teams use small tight knit squads to develop a good understanding. One of the issues we had with Rafa and his rotation was that all the fringe players were rusty and so looked awful every time they got a game. I am not getting my hopes up on Firmino as we never sign the payers I want us to sign, I am not sure I will believe it even if I get to watch him trot out on to the pitch wearing our kit!}

23 Jun 2015 12:25:29
Sky Sports claiming we have held talks with Firmino, Bacca and Rondon.

Is this true?

Hi Eds,
Is it true that we are pushing for a deal with firmino.If so why Manu pulled off from the race.I don't believe until it is done.Ur thoughts?

Believable5 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The situation remains that a number of sides have said they will pay the asking price but none so far will agree the conditions.}

23 Jun 2015 09:23:51
Any interest in describing the conditions Ed?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is unimportant, but you can figure
.}

23 Jun 2015 09:40:15
Structure of payment I would guess.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 09:41:59
They want 60 boxes each of 6 different varieties of cheese delivered to their stadium on the last Tuesday of every month between now and St Patrick's Day 2017. Also, if he makes more than 173 appearances and scores more than 73 goals they want a Brazilian Carnival style parade through the streets of picturesque Hoffenheim complete with exactly 73 semi-naked lady dancers. Pretty demanding if you ask me.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 09:55:31
Full payment up front? Guarenteed starting place?

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Jun 2015 09:56:36
this is what Ed001 wrote about the deal a couple of days ago.

{Ed001's Note - yes, well there is every chance United could do a deal for him as they want him and I have no idea what he would choose given the chance. It could well be that United offer bigger wages now, unlike in recent years, so you can't even say on that instance. Right now, Citeh are the only team trying to get the deal done, he wants to move to England, Liverpool and Man Utd are also in the running. There has been interest from other clubs, such as Everton and Southampton, but both are out, Everton looked elsewhere and Southampton were turned down. So it looks to be between Man Utd, Man City and Liverpool, unless someone else throws their hat into the ring. City would be the favourites right now, but they need to sort out their FFP issues to get a deal done. Hoffenheim are looking for a bigger up front payment than City can put together right now.}

Premium economy flights home once a year and a two week break in the Caribbean if he gets played too often?

Seriously though, would love to see him signed up assuming there aren't any major strikers available (Lacazette/Benzema seem out of reach). Can play false 9 when Sturridge injured, link up with Coutinho as he's doing for Brazil, and play almost any position in the forward line when Sturridge is back.

A quality and versatile signing with creativity, pace, finishing skills etc.

What are premium economy flights? Do you get two little tubs of milk for your tea instead of one?

You should try First - you get your milk delivered fresh from the stewardess of your choice.

Hi eds I wondered if you knew whether the reports linking us with Bacca, Rondon where true, I had be told we were interested in Rondon. Also I've seen that we are linked with GK - Roberto Jimenez Gago of Olympiarcos.
Cheers for all your efforts chaps

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The first two have been covered. Given Liverpool has already recruited a GK to replace Brad Jones, Bogdan, it makes little sense to look at someone else. I am not aware of any approach by Liverpool for Roberto who only joined last season.}
