Spurs have agreed a fee with Hoffenheim for Sigurdsson. He will have talks with Liverpool, Spurs, Chelsea and Newcastle when he returns from Holiday on the 4th of July.
Well i doubt a managerless spurs will be able to tempt him whilst chelsea is more than covered for the position he plays in. newcastle may go for him but the eds have made it clear he wants to play for liverpool

It is confirmed. I don't know whether on the club website or not but I saw it in ESPNsoccernet. It's probably the most reliable website there is. It hardly posts rumours. It just posts the final decisions. So, if ESPNsoccernet says that, Soldado has extended his contract then it's 100% true. For your kind information ESPNsoccernet hasn't said anything about Spurs or Chelsea hijacking the Sigurdsson deal because they don't post BS.

I reckon that it could also involve Nigel De Jong too,which I would personally be very happy with. After all, why would Liverpool turn up the opportunity to sign a DM who practically begged us to sign him (Diame) for free, when we need cover for Lucas unless we had another option on the cards? Also, it was interesting that De Jong came out & said he wasn't going anywhere & was happy to see his contract out, when he had no reason to say anything.
I know everyone will say that Johnson & De Jong don't fit the profile of players we're after and this is just a case of lazy journalists putting 2 and 2 together, but if there's even a 10% chance of this happening, then who knows?! :)

Any chance of Rues, Howedes and Schurrle?, would all be brilliant!
No chance of Reus he's on his way to borussia dortmund on the 1st july. I know he has a lot of hype but schurrle seemed to be a bit selfish at times yesterday, taking shots for difficult positions.
And as much as I'd like howedes, the only way we'd get him is if skrtel left, and even then itd be unlikely.
I would have thought shurrle would be the most realistic though.

More importantly. Sigurdsson is currently a Hoffenheim player. No international deals can be completed before 1st July when the window opens. Whay announce a deal before it s completed, until contracts are signed things can go wrong so it makes no sense to risk early announcements.

If this bid for James Rodriguez is true, I'm excited! Even if he doesn't sign, it shows FSG are prepared to back Rodgers and that we're being ambitious in our transfer targets
However, £25m is a huge sum of money! It made me think Liverpool should take more of a chance on some promising players from other leagues in the way the likes of Porto and Udinese have in the past. Porto paid £5m for 2 years ago, and will make a massive profit on that this summer as they have done in the past with Deco, Falcao, Pepe and will do on Rodriguez and Hulk. Udinese brought Sanchez for £3m and sold him for £30m, Gaston Ramirez cost Bologna £2.5m and are looking to get £15m this summer... We need to find these future stars before others do, hopefully our new scouting structure with the guys from Man City could start such a trend
Given the model of self sustainability FSG long term are looking to implement, I think LFC must be prepared to take risks like others have an reap the benefits like others have. Hopefully Joao Carlos could be the start of such a process.
This summer promises to be exciting. I don't think anyone, except Brendan and his staff, really know who we want to sign (except Gylfi Sigurdsson)

RedSG, I agree that FSG are looking towards player sales as a good source of revenue and I agree with that model it keeps the youth rotating into the senior squad and if ran properly can be just as exciting as transfers. Seeing young players move up the ranks however, liverpools fans will not accept mediocrity so FSG needs to deliver results on the pitch while developing that capability. I believe that is what they meant to do with the big money moves last year but it did not work out. They will need to bring in proven quality again this summer to reach a top 4 spot. Also, the scouting network is no where near good enough and will need to be developed.

It's actually better for us, means we only have one club to deal with. Italian co-ownerships are tricky to navigate, so this is good. This will not effect his availability as he was already playing for Roma.

Reports in Italy are saying that Roma now own Fabio Borini outright after a 'Blind Bid' with his co-owners Parma, i.e. whoever bid the most unknown to the other club would own him outright after joint ownership.
Does this rule us out of the running for his signature, or is it actually more favourable for us because it gives Roma the right to sell him on their own?

Roma can sell on their own if they choose, however why would they buy full rights if they had no interest in keeping him?
I have a small understanding of Italian football finances and I believe that the resolution of the co-ownership of Borini makes it more likely that he would be sold, not saying he will join us or even move on this summer, but clubs prefer not selling in situations of co-ownership because accumulated expenses and difficulty of negotiating "add ons" makes it more viable for a club to sell their stake or buy the remaining stake if a player is subject to interest. I was in the company of someone fairly high up within LFC the other day and he really was reluctant to share any info on our targets although he said they were accessing 2 players at this time. He did point out that they prefer non english players for better value for money and lifestyle issues. He also said if things would have stayed the same within the club the targets we had lined up would not be of the standard for club to move forward .When asked about funds he said there was no problem with funding from FSG
I think we are just gonna have to trust what they are trying to do.

Hi Eds, just wanted to know why the Sigurdsson to LFC deal is taking longer than expected? You know why? Btw, great site! {Ed005's Note - I don't think there is a need to rush - Sigurdsson wants to come to Liverpool and he has made that clear so I'm sure it is a good idea to let the player enjoy his time off at home or on holiday and take things easy. Pressuring and rushing him could be a bad idea anyway.}
But hes club has set a deadline for him to complete move before 30 June.

personally I feel that adam johnson shouldnt be anywhere near our club he is not as good as people think just because he is a English player doesnt necesarily mean he's world class. Bad attitude and bit of a headless chicken.

I totally agree with Jim who posted earlier, 3 players are all that's going to come in this window. Personally I'd like Siguarddson, Borini (if LFC bid) and Tello. As with Cole, Shelvy and Poss. Aqualini I don't see the need of a new DM we have Lucas, Stevie G and Spearing for that position.

We are going to sign sig by 2 weeks maximum, an almost immediate announcement when the window opens will be Skrtel gone for about 23 mil, this will bring in funds for rondon to move to the club,krasic and Adam Johnson or Ramirez, expect Coates to fill skrtels gap and maybe Johnson to be on his way out,Agger will not leave.

eds what chance of Dejan Lovren of Lyon and Andre Ayew of Marseille, both look very good and although the French league is generally weak they still produce the odd brilliant player, ie Henry, c*n*ona and more recently Benzema, Nasri etc. Are they both available or tied into long term deals {Ed005's Note - I know nothing of their availability mate Ed002 would be better to ask regarding this but ask later when he is here and I'm sure he'll tell you more.}

Hi eds, just wondering your opinion, while we all get excited at the possibility of new signings and I personally would welcome borini, Adam Johnson and Sigurdsson, I wonder if some players returning to the club maybe ideal for the rogers revolution. Dani Pacheco, Alberto, Danny Wilson and sterling are all technically very good players, calm, composed, skillful (very much rogers type of players) and potentially better than some of quite a few players that had regular slots last season. Do you think rogers may give them a fair crack of the whip in the summer and pre season or do you think maybe cards are already marked as failures on the way out? (exception being sterling of course)

hi eds, do u know what, i totally agree with a post i read yesterday. it said that we only need 3 players for these positions ST/CAM/RM and i totally agree. we dont need a CB as skrtel wont go 4 sure. we got new kit, new manager with a fresh plan and we in europa. if next year we not improved then yes many players wud want 2 go.

I agree, our results last year didn't reflect our play. we really battered some teams last year none more so than arsenal at anfield and somehow managed to steal defeat from the jaws of victory. we had best defence in the league (along with city) up to jan/feb when we hit a bit of a slump and loss of form but all in all our general play was very good. injuries, woodwork. missed penalties etc cost us dearly but they cant be used as excuses we have to have more composure in front of goal and turn those missed chances into goals so i'm with the original poster 2 maybe 3 signings to improve the quality (and a little less bad luck) and i'd be happy going into next season :)
These 3 positions, plus a backup DM - a more competent replacement for Spearing. If one can be sourced for reasonable value.
The backup DM is more of a priority than the new RW/RIF in my view.
I would love sigardson de Jong and Munian. If tello becomes available we should definately buy him as well.

I really rate Soldado highly mate - really like him and would love him but would FSG see Rondon as better value for money? Would anyone infact? He has the potential to be better than Soldado and in my eyes offers a lot more and around the same price. That's my view though.}
