eds002 Mata again didn't feature for chelski tonight, do u think he would consider moving to LFC? Would we b interested?

Believable12 Unbelievable13

{Ed002's Note - I really don't see there is any chance at all.}

No chance at all? I'm sure playing regularly and challenging for the league would give us a chance of signing any player hoping to play in the world cup. I'm sure a few fans would agree.?

Yeah I agree too

Agree2 Disagree0

Mata may indeed be swayed our direction, but Chelsea will absolutely not sell to us, not a player of Mata's calibre and reputation. That's my opinion anyway.

Agree2 Disagree1

imo they have already significantly strengthened a rival for top 4 I don't think they will want to do it again, if mata is going I would say he would be good enough for these new money bag teams in other leagues such as france, r back to his homeland where he could play for any of them imo.

Agree0 Disagree0

I can't see Chelsea allowing one of their bigger (even though he's tiny) players to leave for Liverpool. We are improving and no doubt Mata would improve us much more, Chelsea already let Sturridge leave and have seen him keep Liverpool in goals as the main man when Suarez was banned, Sturridge has out scored any of Chelsea's strikers so far in the League, including Chelsea's on loan striker at Everton, who is considered by many Chelsea fans to be the real deal and will prove it once the Torres circus is over.

Let's put into perspective just why Chelsea maybe allowed Sturridge to leave for Liverpool and won't let Mata. Chelsea didn't pay big money for Sturridge, they nabbed him from City for about £5m I think, as a youth/back up player who would progress in time and wasn't given the same sort of opportunities he has since Liverpool signed him, he wasn't consider the level of player he has shown to be at Liverpool and was injured quite often and maybe not to be thought at the level of Lukaku? Not to mention Liverpool's position this time last year was completely different to Liverpool's position this year, with the League being much more open and seemingly threatening to Chelsea's position.

Since Sturridge moved to Liverpool he has greatly improved his consistency in front of goal and has played as a conventional striker and not as a wing/wide forward player, he still has picked up injuries but he helped to keep us in the race for 4th place being.

Chelsea did pay good money for Mata in the £25+ million bracket and he has hit dizzy heights for Chelsea, being one of the better players in the Premiership over the last few years, being a superb professional, he's a Spanish International and there are big European teams that would scramble and pay a high price for Mata. I don't see Liverpool paying the price Chelsea would no doubt want and I don't see Chelsea choosing to allow Mata to go to Liverpool, when they could just as easily sell him to PSG or Bayern for example. imo

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Chelsea will consider the player's wishes in any move, if Mata wanted to come to us, they would not force him to stay or go somewhere else. We never used to either, that is one of the main reasons why our old players still have so much affection for us, as we treated players with respect, not as objects to be sold where we want them to go.}

So eds seem to disagree on this 1 then!

In the words of Lloyd Christmas "there's a chance. "

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - The Eds don't disagree Daniella, Chelsea would not stand in the way of him leaving if an acceptable offer were made and he said he wanted to go. He has not said he wants to go and Liverpool have not made an offer. So unless anything changes there is no chance.}

I recall hearing that Mourinho put a stop to the potential Demba Ba transfer to Arsenal after they signed Ozil, as he did not wish for them to strengthen further. If that's true, I could see him maintaining a similar position with Mata especially if we give them a thrashing just before the window opens, as I also recall Jose can be a bit temperamental at times. So while I believe in general it is their policy to not stand in a players way, there is also some level of tactical awareness that has to come into play and I doubt he would be allowed to join for anything less than a Daglish's ransom.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - You are simply making this nonsense up, sorry.}

It's Daniel rather than Daniella but no probs eds, either way I'm glad the mata thing has been explored. On balance they probably wouldn't sell and we wouldn't pay the price. Salah and 1 other I reckon :-( daniel lambretta (scooterist called Daniel see)

hi ed, Liverpool really need a replacement for gerrard and one man who really has impressed me this year is adam lallana do u think any big sides will take a punt on him along with luke shaw

Believable5 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - There is interest from other clubs in Shaw but I am not aware of any in AL at all.}

We've already a replacement for Gerard and he is only just starting to shine, in the shape of Henderson, I think he has been immense since Gerard injury.i don't think we will see the best of him until Stevie steps down it's like he puts it onto himself he has the job to replace Stevie when he is absent.

Agree2 Disagree0

Adam Lallana has been fantastic for Southampton, he is a good player, playing for Southampton in League one in 2010/11 and has been brilliant for them.

I think he'd be quite expensive, Southampton don't need to sell, from what I understand financially they are extremely sound with deep pockets.

Southampton shout out here, Bale, Walcott, Oxlade Chamberlain and now Lallana and Rodriguez with Shaw, no doubt something has been done right in the youth levels. Worryingly dipping down the League to the Championship and struggling for a few years before finding yourself two Leagues away from the Premiership was disastrous but to keep on producing young quality players and still now, only with a much more secure and a modern business model, should see an end of having to sell to stay afloat, things are looking good for them after a long footballing struggle.

Agree1 Disagree0

Thanks I didn't know that much about the team, but they need to start getting results again. going to get a proper whipping in the next fixture vs Reds though haha unless they wish to buy into our good favors ie Luke Shaw. He doesn't have to be cheap just allow the transfrr!

Hi Eds, do we still have any interest in Juan Iturbe?
He looks like the sort of quality young attacker BR would be interested in. Happy Xmas.

Believable3 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - Iturbe is on loan for the season and I can't see how he will be moving in January. Porto will not be keen to sell next summer for anything other than a high prices and then the only likely destination is Italy with interest from Roma, Juventus and Fiorentina. Inter have previously enquired about buying part of his ownership rights and other clubs may also be interested in doing the same.}

Hi Eds

I have heard of some interest in Rakitic. As Sevilla have financial problems, how much could we get for him? Apparently we are also interested in Diego Costa (again) but I think he will want champions league football if he was to come to England. Is there any others Liverpool associated rumours that are floating around?

Thanks, Merry Christmas

Believable5 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - The long term interest in Rakitic is from Lazio where he was expected to move in the summer. Personally I do not see him moving in January but Chelsea, Manchester United, Lazio and perhaps Liverpool would be interested if he were availale at a sensible price.

Diego Costa was of interest to Liverpool when it looked like Suarez would be leaving in the summer. Chelsea, Dortmund and Monaco are interested but there will be concerns over him leaving Spain in January. Arsenal are keeping a watching brief.}

Some say interest in Diego Costa was to convince Suarez to stay.

Dear Editor,

Are we interested in any players from FC Barcelona in Spain? My incredible son who is a leading football editor at one of the major newspapers believes Pedro is an option that Mr Rodgers is considering.

I look forward to hearing from you,

Benjamin Othelby

Believable3 Unbelievable10

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona do not want the sell. The only interest that I am aware of is from PSG who were also interested in the summer.}

Hi Eds,

Any ideas on whether Victor Moses is a 6 month or Season long loan as I've been very disappointed with him. He seem slow and lethargic and not quick enough on the ball to suit the kind of game we want to play.
I'd much rather see Ibe or even Alberto before him. He's more suited as a Striker(a position he's never been used in) While Sturridge is out I'd like to see BR try that 3-5-2 Formation he uses with S&S with Suarez and Moses.
I think its the only style that could get something out of Moses. Otherwise we may as well ship him back to Chelsea.
Hoping or January 2014 is as good as 2013's
YNWA.

Believable5 Unbelievable9

{Ed002's Note - It is a season long loan.}

Pirate,

The last few games have probably been the best we've played all season and yet you want BR to change the system to accommodate Victor Moses?!!

There really is no pleasing some people.

Agree1 Disagree0

I don't think we should change what we are doing just to accommodate Moses. He doesn't fit the style BR wants the team to play. He is that good to even think about it.

Agree0 Disagree0

I have a friend who is a season ticket and shareholder at Goodison and he reckons that Martinez had the chance to look at taking Moses on loan - How shrewd did that turn out to be.

I really don't rate Moses at all, especially when you watch him live.

Any interest in Pedro or El Shaarawy eds?

Thanks, merry xmas!

Believable3 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Barcelona do not want to sell Pedro. The only interest that I am aware of is from PSG who were also interested in the summer.

Arsenal, Real Madrid and PSG would all like to strike a deal with Milan at some point but El Shaarawy is generally happy where he is and Milan have no intention of selling unless a very significant offer is made. Those quoting him not playing might want to consider his injuries. Previous interest from Monaco and Spurs remains unconfirmed and Napoli dropped out of the running over the summer when they signed Callejon, as did Manchester City when they signed Jovetic. Do not be surprised to see an offer from Dortmund, or just possibly Chelsea if they cannot get another target, or even a loan move to Torino in January.}

They both would cost a lot of money. Why would Pedro come here? What more can we offer?

Agree0 Disagree0

Ac milan are willing to loan him to torino ed how come seems strange

{Ed002's Note - To get some experience in a relevant league.}

Morning all. Hope everyone is enjoying the terrific form that the team is producing at the minute.
Thanks Eds for all you hard work. Especially Ed002 who has received an unfair amount of flack on here over the last few weeks. Keep you head held high mate and ignore the knockers. I for one appreciate everything you do.
Now. For my transfer titbits.
I have been told that our scouts have been watching some unfamiliar names over the last few weeks with a view to strengthen the team.
A LB which I know we are looking at, maybe not for a move in Jan. but for in the summer is AC Milans Mattia De Sciglio.
I am told we have also had Torino's winger Alessio Cerci watched. I know El Shaarawy is being muted for this position, but he would be expensive and Cerci would be a cheaper alternative and is a good a player.
I think these 2 would fit into the Liverpool team.
What do you know, if anything about these guy's?

Hope you all have a great festive season and let's hope for a couple of good results in our next few games. 4 from 6 points would do me.

Merry Christmas Eds and reds.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - There is no Liverpool interest in Cerci that I am aware of. Torino purchased the remainder of his contract earlier this year so owns him outright. Everton and Palermo have previously enquired. Arsenal and Manchester United have recently looked. Again, I am not aware of any Liverpool interest in Mattia De Sciglio.}
