Hi eds great site, friend from the middle east reckons its between lpool and spurs for villa on loan january

How would someone from the middle east know

After the performance yesterday I expect the villa squad would be quite cheap on loan!!!

Hey Eds:
I was wondering if you would be able to shed some light on some of the players you've been made aware that LFC are targeting/looking at. Since many people bring twitter fallacies to the site, it would be nice to have real perspective for who LFC are interested in.
Praying for a great Window and 2nd half of the season.
Thanks, Merry Christmas to all, and YNWA
-Jordan {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts Jordan.}

Well Sturridge is a done deal. Tom Ince and Jack Butland the others

When you read some of the posts, they are either informative, terribly written, or completely false. Was just trying to gain some perspective.

I know you guys don't believe Fernando Llorente will be joining us in the upcoming window and I'll be honest, I would still be surprised to see him join. I'm with the eds that Juventus is the most likely move. Still, thought some people would be interested to know that the odds on him joining us in January have been slashed after a lot of money has been put on him.

Hey , Fernando will not be joining us , ever .
redforever

Llorente is just like Carroll how many times

To be fair the odds have slashed. We are now favourites to sign him

And he is 5/1 with (via oddschecker) to sign for Juve. Stick your christmas money on that and have a cracking new year. And if he does sign for us, well, what have you lost?

SpanishChris

It doesnt take much money for bookies to slash odds on transfers dont get excited unless it gets to 1/6 or shorter
Andy the Red

Remember we were odds on to sign dempsey... and look how that panned out

23 Dec 2012 18:22:53
Ed, I was wondering if Sturridge is the only stiker we're looking at, or could another be brought in also as back up?
Thanks, kelly23 {Ed002's Note - The other players we know the club have been looking at are forward players as well.}

Yeah others like Tom Ince?

23 Dec 2012 18:02:43
Ed's with Sturridge coming to merseyside, do you think Carroll will be sold? {Ed002's Note - Not in January.}

Carroll won't go to west ham. Probably back to Newcastle if they sell Ba

Eds, Any interest from Liverpool on Valencia, Sofiane Feghouli?
He's skillfull, got energy like younger Stevie and versatile midfielder like Stevie. {Ed002's Note - Valencia's Sofiane Feghouli is stalling on signing a new contract whilst his agents scurry around looking for interest in the player as leverage or as an alternative to Valencia should he be sold. A number of high-profile clubs have been approached to see if they would be interested in the player but it would be nothing but speculation on my part to suggest interest of not. However, Paris Saint-Germain has made more than one approach for the player and Valencia has set a deadline of his departure for the ACON to resolve the matter. Bayern Munich, Manchester United, Southampton and PSG have all considered Feghouli but have been told that he is not available.}

23 Dec 2012 15:16:49
Hey ed just curious, which LFC players do you see most likely going out on loan in January. Thanks

AsianRed {Ed001's Note - I don't know sorry. Difficult to say, a lot will depend on who joins.}

Michael Ngoo to Birmingham looks likely

Robinson and Flanaghan

25 Dec 2012 22:27:40
Cant believe that the ED didnt answer the question, its obvious to anyone in the know.

Morgan - Burnley
Ngoo - Birmingham
Coady - Tranmere Rovers
Cole - QPR {Ed052's Note - and your so in the know mate. I will laugh my head off when they dont come true}

23 Dec 2012 12:54:05
Eds, in regards to Robbo rumoured to being loaned out to Blackpool as part of the once deal, I presume there will be no opportunity for 'Pool to sign him permanently, as he would become the new Ince/Kacaniklic? {Ed001's Note - I doubt there would be any option of a permanent deal, that is if we even get anywhere near completing a deal for Ince. Just because we have had bids rejected doesn't mean we will sign him.}

23 Dec 2012 17:13:25
daniel sturrage has passed his medical and agreed a long term contract

THE BIRD

Let me guess: Twitter............

23 Dec 2012 13:44:16
do you eds, know of any interest in Nathan Dyer?, i like the player and think hes really hungry, often impresses me. {Ed002's Note - Nothing from Liverpool, no.}

23 Dec 2012 13:09:29
Hi Ed's!

Swedish tv just said Sturridge is doing a medical at Melwood today along with as you know a whole bunch of newspapers. My question is do you think that Liverpool FC will make some kind of an announcement before Jan 1st/2nd? On like the official website..

Cheers and Merry Xmas!

Carl {Ed002's Note - Perhaps, but I really don't know Carl.}

They will probably announce that they have agreed a fee as they have done in the past.

Why are a whole bunch of newspapers having a medical as well?

Sturridge why???

23 Dec 2012 12:38:22
Eds great site, rumour has it it's not actually Jeffren we are looking at but actually his Lisbon team mate Ricky Van Wolfswinkel, can you share any light on that? {Ed002's Note - That would make the club look like complete jerks for talking to Jorge Llagostera and Sporting Lisbon about Jeffren then.}

Smokescreen lol!

Ed 02, ok then, can you please provide us ANY sort of evidence that LFC did INDEED talk with Jorge Llagostera about Jeffren??. We fans would like see proof you see. {Ed002's Note - I have no idea what you are expecting to see.}

23 Dec 2012 11:27:17
Ngoo to Birmingham on a permanent as part of Butland deal and Morgan on loan to Blackpool as part of the Ince deal.

I'd take that no problem..... Hope it happens

Ack17

I still would like to see Morgan get his chance at Liverpool. But the experience at Blackpool would be useful for him and to see whether he can cut it.

Wouldn't let Big Mike go unless it's on loan

I've heard that Ngoo is going to Birmingham, but only on loan. Could still be part of a deal for Butland.

Yeah this is true expect for it will be Jack Robinson, not Morgan, that will be going to Blackpool. I also heard that Dani Pacheco might join him as well....

SLURed

Sell Pacheco

23 Dec 2012 11:53:49
Thanks for earlier answer.
Just saw a highlight real of James McCarthy.
Looks like Stevie g back in the day.
Thoughts eds? Any interest at early 20's could be a long term replacement? {Ed002's Note - Every one who asks get scared off by the price.}

No. Henderson is Gerrard replacement

Henderson, gerrards replacement. pfft. that guy doesn't have half the determination and the balls gerrard has at hes age. think your looking at shelvey as gerrards replacement.

What make Stevie a cut above the rest is his vision of the whole playing field. Shelvey's vision is not there yet. I see him as a young Frank Lampard, without the shooting boots on.

Get him hes class

dannybhoy

Henderson is much better than Shelvey

23 Dec 2012 11:18:01
Right now there is varying degrees of interest from Marseille, Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but I doubt he will move to either.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
How strong are these varying degrees, are we just looking at him or are we going to make a bid? {Ed002's Note - Don't expect Bony to be moving to Liverpool in January.}

23 Dec 2012 11:15:48
Hello all, nice to see Liverpool acting quickly in regards to sturridge so that he will be available early Jan, really think the lad can do well with us. I was very impressed with Downing and Gerrard against Fulham, considering all I read on here is that both should be dropped and are not good enough! Get real especially in Stevie's case. We really need to get behind and support our players, including the Jan signings ie Sturridge. As for other potential signings I'm still being told Huntelaar is a possibility, although I don't see this happening due to the potential loan enquiry of Jeffren Suarez. Also expect a young talent who is not widely known (like the Assaidi transfer) as our scouting teams have identified several promising young player's from European leagues who are being considered for Jan, but only one will be signed from what I was told.

Hope you all have a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year

IMH {Ed002's Note - Huntelaar was never going to move to Liverpool, although there was interest shown. He has agreed a new deal at Schalke now.}

Surely even if we sign sturridge at the start of January, we won't be able to update our squad until the end of the month, so he won't be eligible until the end of january.

feel free to correct me if I'm wrong eds, but that's the way I understand the squad rules?

JammyRed {Ed002's Note - No, he can play as soon as the registration has been completed.}

Assaidi isn't young...

23 Dec 2012 11:13:48
Hey eds....
Tiny bit of motd fever but I wanted Liverpool to sign Adam Johnson in the summer. How much did he go for after ? Did we show any interest ?

Also we were linked with Gaston Ramirez? What happened as I think he's one for the future.

On a side note... Can't say I'm thoroughly convinced and happy about a 12-15m for sturridge. But can we all stop complaining and just hope br knows best. {Ed002's Note - Johnson went for £11M - I do not recall any interest over this summer from Liverpool. Liverpool had looked at Ramirez in 2011 but there was no follow up or offer made for the player this year.}

AFTER WATCHING BOTH PLAYERS CAREFULLY AFTER THE LINKS WITH US, I think neither transfer would have added much more to our squad, based on their contributions thus far. Imo.

I think you will find Saints were quicker to secure the player and unpick a fairly complicated financial situation. Don't be bitter!

23 Dec 2012 10:57:32
Eds ,fellow reds .hunterlaar signed for shalke til 2015 {Ed002's Note - Right, not a surprise they gave in to his request.}

Ed do u think holtby will also sign? {Ed002's Note - Schalke have confirmed that they are to offer Lewis Holtby a new contract but are aware that there will be interest from clubs wishing to speak to the player in January. Aston Villa has added to the previously known interest from Valencia, Everton and Arsenal and unconfirmed rumours suggest that both Manchester United and Liverpool may also look to Holtby. Perhaps the most interesting option that he may have is Inter Milan who most definately has an interest after stepping back from any deal for Paulinho. However, Inter are being advised by Di Frisco that Holtby is perhaps two years from being ready for such a move but in my view it remains a possible destination - although they are looking at Belhanda as well.}

Hello Ed,
do you reckon Holtby will follow suit ?
If not I hope we get him on a pre-contract in Jan. In a recent interview Rodger has said that he would like to sign a Quality number 10 and a left-sided player in the summer. He could virtually solve our issues and potentially costing just 3-4 mil in signing on fees. {Ed002's Note - I have explained above what I know of Holtby.}

23 Dec 2012 10:43:57
£12m for Sturridge when far better strikers are available for less (such as Demba Ba for £7m) completely unacceptable.
Looks like it's going to be Sturridge, Ince and someone else in, with Cole and Downing leaving with young Robbo going to Blckpool as part of the Ince deal

I think you are totallly missing the point pal. It's about who would fit into our system better and I think Sturridge is that player. Also Ba can't play with Cisse. I couldn't see him displacing Suarez as our main striker either.

Mighty reds

Could you please list the better available strikers out there who would come for less?
Dani

Last poster has a valid point, Ba struggles without the skill of Cisse around him. If we play a front 3 then my personal opinion is we will play Suarez and Borini off Sturridge. I would be happy with that, 3 very good players with a good touch, pace and skill.

Whats unacceptable about it?
7m for a player that Newcastle are, seemingly, quite happy to part with (knee?) or 12m for a 23yr old goalscorer who has a decade at the top ahead of him. Anyways too many fans on here playing FF with money that isnt theirs! Support the team and offer opinions on players performances. Theres a reason why BR is managing the club and you are not.

Ciario80

23 Dec 2012 11:36:54
What a waste of money!! Sturridge isn't what we need we need an out and out striker, he is too ball greedy, a trouble causer and don't score that many! He may fit into rodgers style of play but there better out there, maybe not ba to much of a risk with the dodgy knee and will miss 5 weeks with the the african cup of nations coming up, why sign somebody who carnt get a game ahead of torres!? Clubs must see ian ayre coming with the prices on players, LFC the laughing stock again in a transfer window

I think now LFC really need a "superstar" like Ronaldinho when he transfered fro PSG. An attacking forward, skillful and entertaining! Merry Christmas all and i still dream "Dinho" spirits come to town

Liverpool and Newcastle play a different system, Ba would be a bad signing for Liverpool as for Newcastle he is played a long ball as a target man. Liverpool pass and move thus why Sturridge who has good instincts right time right place can covert all the chances we have missing, missing throughout King Kenny's and Brendan's Time.

Exactly Mighty Reds I personally think he'l be a great signinig!

WicklowReds

Stupid how all you guys are against him he's still young and got years to prove himself. Does my head in coming on here and seeing people who play football manager or FIFA and think they know what's best. If you knew that much you wouldn't be on this site you'd be managing your own club. So do everyone a favor and wind your neck in

So presumably you'd be happy if we paid 12 pence for Emile Heskey and unhappy if we paid 200 million for Lionel Messi?

What does it matter how much the players cost, ultimately we want a successful team, not a cheap one.

And who are these other options? Do they fit into the team, will they settle in the Premiership, will they even want to come and stay at LFC? Will their wife be unsettled after 6 months and they move on?

It's not as simple as you propose.
I think DS is a decent signing at a reasonable price, with potential to be top class.

Demba ba is nowere near as good as sturridge watch how many goals he wil score playin up top wit a run of games ba wouldn suit our style of play

If Ba were any good why do Newcastle want shot. They have carefully released news over the last two years about his release clause and found no takers.

What u have to realize is that Ba, although a force as a striker, also has a problem with his knee, and could therefore be a bit of a liability injury wise, the Geordies took a calculated risk, 12m for sturridge is not a huge price for one so young. I personally was sick 2 death of the over-inflated prices we've paid for distinctly average players over almost a decade now.

Will you lot give the manager and this young lad a chance. If in twelve months he's a flow them plese say I told you so but until then give them a break!

Downing is staying

23 Dec 2012 10:42:03
Liverpool will be signing 3 players in January in Daniel Sturridge, Tom Ince and Wilfried Bony.

Woul love us to get Bony but think we will face a lot of competition from Newcastle and Chelsea have watched him in the past.

Yes pleaseeeee !!

If only this were true... Ince and sturridge a good but bony will head the ground running and light up the perm.

Please be true!

Theres goin to be 3 players nd thats sturridge,ince nd butland

23 Dec 2012 10:38:39
Huntalaer has signed a new contract. That puts that one to bed. It was all wish full thinking anyway.

No it wasn't. He is massively overrated. Decent striker when he is the focal point of attack, but wouldn't be with Suarez. They played together at Ajax, but that was a while back, when Suarez wasn't the focus, and he certainly is at Liverpool. I prefer the athletic, powerful striker, which I hope Sturridge will become.

23 Dec 2012 10:34:16
Ed do you reckon any of our rivals will spend in January? I suspect arsenal and spurs will but I hope not. {Ed002's Note - Both certainly will.}

Sorry ed but do you know who they will go for like we are obviously going to buy ince and sturridge.

Thanks. {Ed002's Note - I am sorry but I am not going to start discussing all of the other club's interest on the Liverpool page.}

23 Dec 2012 10:32:06
i have heard that Michael Ngoo is off to Birmingham on loan next month
Murton Red

No he is not because they said they do not want him

Be a good move for the lad. When Shelvey started up front against West Ham and he didnt make the bench thought a loan move would be on the cards

Ciario80

Through twitter mate!

You mean from musker_lfc on twitter.

As part of the butland deal to liverpool

23 Dec 2012 10:13:48
Bbc sport reporting that City want to massively overhaul transfer policy and wage bill, saying a few players could be sold, Balotelli, Dzeko, Barry, Milner to name a few

Rumours in the past of LFC showing interest in Milner, was this true and could out interest be re-kindled for the right price, wouldn't be a bad signing can play anywhere in Midfield or down the right

Thanks for any reply and have a good Xmas everyone

MikeCass ynwa {Ed002's Note - I would be surprised if Milner were to be bought by Liverpool in January.}

Out of them just Dzeko is quality but unfortunately out of our reach.

Balotelli is a goner "Ill" yesterday but was in the Trafford centre! Divvy

23 Dec 2012 10:06:15
Hi Eds what is liverpools interest in Bony like? He seems a fantastic player who is strong and can finish. What business do you think Liverpool will do with players in and out? Thanks for the site, Gee {Ed002's Note - Wilfried Bony was of interest to Newcastle over the summer and has been a player Chelsea have been considering for a while. Right now there is varying degrees of interest from Marseille, Aston Villa, QPR, Liverpool, Everton and a couple of German sides (Hamburg and Schalke) but I doubt he will move to either. It would not be a surprise to see interest from other teams, possibly Napoli and Roma, but that is all there is at this time. The player has said he would like to join Chelsea but anymove in January is by no means certain.

I would expect Sturridge, Ince plus possibly a player on loan (maybe Jeffren).}

23 Dec 2012 09:35:40
Eds is obviously happening but how can Sturridge have a medical before January window opens, how is this deal all been done before jan 1st. ? Can you approach players and iron out deal before window so you can sign on day 1? {Ed002's Note - The clubs can agree the transfer (fee etc.) at anytime and then the buying club will be given to negotiate with the player and his representatives, take a medical etc.. Only once the window opens can the FA process the paperwork and deal with such matters as International clearance etc. for Sturridge. And that can take a day or two.}

23 Dec 2012 09:21:53
Really can't see Liverpool bringing in any more forwards in jan other than Sturbridge and ince.think about it Liverpool use the 433 system a lot we have sterling Suso Suarez borini assaidi Downing add ince and sturridge and we have a lot of forwards I would love llorente as our main striker he ouses class almost like ibrahimavic but more of a team player. Our jan will be ince and sturridge that's it IMO

23 Dec 2012 01:35:18
hey Eds , i havent posted in a while but just a quick question , whats the chance of stuuridge deal falling through? , i think he will be a terrible signing and i hope we dont get him
Cheers, Zincho {Ed002's Note - I would doubt very much that there will be any hitches.}

I sometimes wonder why people judge a player before he has even been given a chance. He has not had a great chance other than his loan spell and what did he do during that period.....SCORE.......that is something we are lacking centrally and he has pace and skill. Not a bad option to have in the side and should work well with Suarez.

Just accept the fact he will be a liverpool player... Hes better than most in our squad.p

Why would he be such a bad signing? He's young and talented and would improve the squad we have, don't judge him without even giving him a chance. If we sign him we need to get behind him not slag him off instantly. it's no wonder players flop when they get slagged off before they even play!

Will he bring any to the squad yes pace and goal two things we've been crying out for and he can cover for Luis if he need a rest. He's got tons of talent and for 12 million could be a steal

Ba is Senegalese player &Senegal doesnt qualify for ACN

I hope some of you aren't criminal judges you would have them in jail before they got into the dock.
Sturridge wasn't exactly given much of a chance at either man city or Chelsea when he got a run of games at Bolton he scored goals, which is what we need. So please if we sign him give him a chance.
Personally I would like to see borini in the centre with Suarez and Sturridge either side Suarez played there for Ajax.

Sturridge will become a star at lfc!!

23 Dec 2012 01:42:07
Hearing that Sturridge (medical tmorrow) and Ince are done deals. Young Robinson will go to Blackpool as part of Ince deal. Although media reports have suggested Butland to LFC in Jan, it should become clearer in the next few days if the interest is serious, and what that means for Reina.

BR still looking to add a natural mobile striker. Walcot is no longer a target. Demba Ba has been mentioned, and his 7M price is within LFC budget. The issue regarding Ba is that he wants to go to African Cup, which means potentially loosing him for up to 5 weeks.

It will be interesting in the next couple of weeks which striker BR is thinking about bringing. He has said that he wants a proven instinctive striker.

Ba isnt going to no AFCON! Senegal didnt qualify for the competition

Ba's country Senegal did not qualify for African cup of nations so please do not deceive us if you do not have any facts. We need real facts.

Proven instinctive striker?
Llorente not out of question. Seems he will be on the move in Jan as things have deteriorated at Bilbao and although he's talking to Juve they don't want to fork out more than 3.5m in Jan I have read. Therefore he's gets able and I believe he's a big pal of Reinas. If his choice is between us Arsenal & Spurs to come to England I think we have a big chance.

If robinsn was to go blaxkpool it woud only b a loan which i thnk wud b a great idea

How come Demba Ba wants to go to the African Nations Cup when Senegal did not qualify. Is he going just to watch? Puzzled
Victor

Why would the arrival of a 19 year old affect Reina in any way .........
