According to Foot Mercato's
Manu Lonjon a French outlet
Liverpool have agreed a £28m deal to sign Bayern Munich forward Mario Gotze, according to a report from a.

€28m was the figure which is £21m. Also supposedly offered him £180kpw wages. I will believe it when i see him leaning.

{Ed023's Note - Leaning?}

22 May 2016 20:47:28
£28 mil for a guy in the last year of his deal seems flipping steep to me, especially with a poorish injury record and relative loss of form. Unless there's a serious bidding war going on it makes no sense to me to pay that much. I was hoping we'd seen the last of paying over the odds but if this is true it would seem not. I trust Klopp in terms of judgement of the player but that's a big fee under the circumstances.

Agree12 Disagree16

22 May 2016 22:38:10
To be honest, in this day and age of transfers, a 23 year old World Cup winner who still has his best years ahead of him (injuries notwithstanding) should be commanding a fee of £30-£40m, I would estimate.

As a very (and I mean very! ) rough guide, transfermarkt have him valued at £26.75m and they always underestimate values by 30% or so compared to what players actually go for.

He has one year of his contract left, and he had other big clubs after him as Ed002 (I think) has stated previously.

Therefore, if we have signed him, £21m is a good price.

Does mean we will probably cash in on, I would guess, Lallana, or that Coutinho has been courted elsewhere and has decided to move for CL (for which I wouldn't blame him, sorry as I will be to see him leave) .

If it's the former, I doubt we would get much less than £20m for Lallana, so add on fees notwithstanding, I would say that's a good bit of business for relatively little outlay. Yes his wages will be a lot more, but I think he would become one of our key players.

Firmino-Goetze-Couts behind Studge or Divock would be fantastic!

Agree16 Disagree16

23 May 2016 01:13:18
Price is relative to performance and is all about value in my opinion. If he comes in and plays a major part in contributing to us winning the league then no one complains about his price tag or wages. If he doesn't then he is expensive and a mistake. Firmino is in this catagory - very expensive with no one else willing to pay that much but has been impressive in his first season in the prem and so he is showing value.

Leaning at Melwood, another TLW devotee!
I agree, until I see that pic it's all bull to me.

Leaning on the wall in the photos. I think our photographer likes to take a photo of our signings that way :P.

If I remember right, the Eds also said Lfc are interested in rafa silva.
I'm starting to wonder which of the current starting forwards are going to have to make way by the end of next season- assuming we sign both gotze and silva, and assuming the new boys perform as expected and begin to claim regular starting places?
Is it just depth of squad ready for CL the season after, or is it possible that klopp is preparing a plan to replace coutinho and lallana by end of next season?
What do people think is the plan behind the signing of two top quality forwards when we already have coutinho and firmino?

Agree0 Disagree11

23 May 2016 07:55:23
Could be one or the other anonymush.
Although I don't see Götze as a priority, Origi/ Sturridge/ Ings ahead of Coutinho, Götze and Firmino (rotating position) sounds good.

What I like about Götze is he reminds me of Beardo in his pomp. Beardo had it all, a great dribbler, great vision, great composure, a fantastic shot. He was such a great outlet to relieve pressure on the team and Götze has this ability too.

Has Goetze still got all his teeth, Ron?

If not, I'm sure Skrts could sort that out for him on his way out :)

Leaning against the An field sign at Melwood? Normally one of the first photos we see of a new signing. Possibly misspelt signing and predictive changed it lol.

{Ed023's Note - I know, I totally forgot about it}

Ed023: New LFC signings are invariably pictured leaning on something, hence redmax's comment.

{Ed023's Note - I know cheers, totally forgot about it when editing the post}

Can anyone who has seen Gotze play tell me, does he take freekicks or corners well?

Because I would spend £30m just to see Milner not take any more corners.
The number of corners and freekicks we win and waste is frustrating to say the least.

Hi ed.

Could you please tell me if you know that we have had Jan Oblak scouted?
And where interest comes from besides Liverpool?

Believable0 Unbelievable18

{Ed001's Note - lots of clubs have looked at him, but I am told he has made it clear he is not interested in a move this summer.}

22 May 2016 20:07:22
Ok. Thank you! :-)

Agree2 Disagree14

22 May 2016 17:29:07
Afternoon eds. Regarding wingers for the summer. Have we been linked or scouted Karim Bellarabi? I feel if he has a solid euros with Germany many clubs will be looking for his signature. Easily in my opinion a £30m+ player. I've checked the search and I can't find anything.

Believable0 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - Bayer Leverkusen's Karim Bellarabi's was previously looked at by West Ham, Montpellier and Chelsea but interest from those sides went when he signed a new long-term contract last year. Both Arsenal and Manchester City made their interest known to Bayer Leverkusen both in the summer and leading up to the January window when Inter also declared an interest. It is just possible that Arsenal could try and get further talks going. Inter will be interested if Bayer Leverkusen were to look to sell and they had the money available - however Bayer Leverkusen are keen for him to stay and I expect he will. Liverpool have had scouts watch him but have taken it no further.}

22 May 2016 15:15:22
Hey eds.
Looks like liverpool is going to move out skrtel, wisdom, Ilori and kolo toure. Which keeps us with lovren, matip, sakho, gomez as the first for cbs. Considering sakho's ban also gomez might take time to adapt to the center back role, do you think we might get another center back?
Thankyou.

Believable4 Unbelievable12

{Ed002's Note - Yes, I think there is a chance.}

22 May 2016 18:49:34
Sule from Germany would be nice.

Agree10 Disagree10

22 May 2016 18:54:09
If we go for another CB I think it will be only if sakho leaves. If he stays and we get a new one, we could have 4 first choice Cbs and Joe Gomez. If sakho isn't out for over 6 months, I'm happy with lovren and matip, sakho to come in and toure cover for now.

Agree3 Disagree11

22 May 2016 20:01:01
Unless Sakho is exonerated, which is extremely unlikely, I suspect he has played his last game for us. FSG will have learnt from the bad press from the Suarez incidents, and will look to ship him out, IMO.

Subotic the most likely then?

Agree1 Disagree7

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly answer "most likely" questions.}

23 May 2016 00:07:28
I can't imagine it being Sule tbh.

Agree1 Disagree5

23 May 2016 08:20:52
Ed002- 'I cannot sensibly answer "most likely" questions'
Surely that is your purpose here? Or say you 'don't know' rather than patronize the lad?

Agree4 Disagree2

{Ed001's Note - are you for real? Editor does not mean 'answers moronic questions repeatedly'. So, instead of being a knob, why don't you just be glad he bothers to answer any questions at all? By the way, your post could be construed as far more patronising if we chose to see it that way. So perhaps get off your high horse and realise you are getting this for free.}

23 May 2016 08:58:57
You just said "he" ed001, have you just given ed002's identity away? 😉.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - nope. I say he and she all the time mate. Never going to actually confirm it one way or the other, where would the fun be in that??}

People tell the truth in anger ed ;)

22 May 2016 14:56:07
Good afternoon eds. Sky news just announced that Leicester LB Ben Chilwell has told his club that he wants to leave to join LFC, do you know anything about this or confirm it?

Believable2 Unbelievable13

22 May 2016 19:23:00
Ed002 has said before that another club who were interested in Chilwell expects him to move to LFC, and have been looking at alternatives.

I have wondered before why the media don't use this site, do no reporters try and gain a reputation through being correct not just writing what people want to hear.

{Ed091's Note - They do. }

The Sunday express has linked us with former City and Now Roma player Eden Dzeko. Seems daft and unlikely. Scores goals but wouldn't suit us for sure.

Dzeko is terrible, he misses more open goals than Giroud.

Hi Ed's - thanks for keeping us all up to date with everything LFC, I can appreciate that it must take a lot of time and patience.

A quick question, do you think that Markovic will be given a chance in pre-season to prove himself, I think there's a player in there myself, but I'm no expert 😊.

Believable2 Unbelievable14

{Ed002's Note - Markovic is one of the players who has no other commitments this summer so he will have the opportunity. But it will be down to the manager who will have to either make a commitment to play him regularly or let him go. Right now I suspect moving on is the most likely outcome.}

22 May 2016 13:35:54
Shame, I've always liked the lad and hoped he would've made it with us. Guess it's probably best for his career and also the club if he moved on now though.

Agree6 Disagree14

23 May 2016 09:37:36
I was operating under the assumption that Markovic would be given a season to prove himself as our RW with a new LW brought in and two youngsters as back-up wingers, Ojo and Ibe for example.

Ed02, If Markovic is moved on this summer as you suspect, do you think he will be replaced by another RW?

Thanks.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Markovic will want guarantees - Liverpool has wasted enough of his career already and I think it is likely he will move on.}

22 May 2016 10:44:30
I've heard the Ward will be going on loan at Huddersfield. Their coach David Wagner used to be Coach for the Dortmund B and I believe that he was Klopps best man at his wedding.
Not sure if it's people putting the two together but it seems plausible.

Believable8 Unbelievable11

22 May 2016 12:14:39
Town need a goalie next season too. I'm a joint fan of both teams so if I'm hopeful.

On the Chilwell rumour - Wagner had him on loan at town until Jan so surely also gave Klopp some feedback there too along with Liverpool scouts.

Hi dear eds,

Is it true we are after danny drinkwater?

And why is it that we keep looking to midfielders anyway.

Thanx.

Believable3 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - Drinkwater will be linked to every club over the transfer window, I don't expect him to go anywhere and the links are spurious.}

22 May 2016 14:16:10
lol did you see the midfield during the final, better yet, the majority of the season.

Agree1 Disagree7

22 May 2016 02:55:36
I would like to see us, if we're talking about rejuvenating/ tweaking the midfield, looking towards a player like Lewis Cook. Has anybody - eds included - heard anything about scouting him? (found nothing in search) .

Believable0 Unbelievable13

{Ed001's Note - not by us.}
