Do we know if Shaq has agreed terms with Lyon?

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed0666's Note - he did a while back

23 Aug 2021 08:53:54
Hi Eds, it has been reported that Liverpool and Lyon have agreed a price of £9.5m. Is this true?

Shaqs gone. Good luck to him always liked him hope he stays fit. Surely a replacement will be looked at?

Shaq played most of his time as sub, and in the midfield, Elliot has taken that role now.

Harvey sees a pass shaq never would harsh but true.

Aaaah the power cube. A player I was amazed we signed who did some good things but was never someone I thought “oh no, he’s not available”. He was at absolutely the wrong club.
He needs to be the big fish in the small pond.

He will go on to score some worldies and we will look back in his time affectionately, but in reality he was always injured, to easy to counter and not incisive enough for Liverpool.

What Bledd said.

22 Aug 2021 21:51:02
Only for the injuries I really liked shaq.

I feel this will be a comment I will use again when a few others eventually leave.

Nothing but the best wishes for shaq in his future. go show mbappe and Messi who the real superstar of ligue 1 is.

I remember signing him for something like 13 mill and thought it was a great deal. Looking at it now selling for 9.5 ish he filled a gap and scored a few good goals and not a bad deal I suppose. Elliot easily fills the space and more. Good luck to shaq and wish him all the best in the future!

To be fair acered, Shaq could see a pass. What he lacked that Elliott doesn't is quite simply work rate and mobility. Technical gifts and vision weren't his downfall in my opinion. Football is 1% inspiration, and 99% perspiration. The great man Cruyff once said that in football, you spend 87 minutes without the ball, and that those minutes are more important than the 3 minutes you have it.

Elliott works 10 times harder defensively than Shaq, and he works incredibly hard off it to always give his team mates an option for a pass. When he gets the ball he turns to face up the defence and he just runs at them. It caused havoc against Burnley. His direct play won us several corners, it won a lot of free kicks in the middle of the park, Mee even had to chop him down once on the edge of the area, another time it led to the Mane goal, and we also saw it lead to Salah having a shot cleared off the line.

I actually think Shaq is fully capable of playing that pass for the Salah offside goal, and we saw him play it several times for Liverpool. I can recall similar passes twice last season alone leading to 2 Jota goals. One direct to Jota and another to Trent who then rolled it across for a Jota tap in.

Elliott was literally unplayable against Burnley though. If they got tight he would spin them with a give and go, and if they backed off he'd tear them to pieces. Shaq can' do that because he either doesn't have the legs, or he simply can't be bothered. I've not seen a better debut from a teenager in a Liverpool shirt.

22 Aug 2021 23:05:09
Yeah he played a belter pass from wide left across to salah a few months back, big looping pass right onto salad foot, resulting in a great goal.
He had it in his locker for sure.

Loved Shaq. He certainly wanted success, tried and wore shirt with pride. He loved Klopp. Those gazes towards him during sub talks and the hugs. Scored and tried enough to score more. Played when and where asked. Good luck.

Elliot already replaces him. Same scenario, wide creative player moved to CM. Harv will be a much better player so long as everyone gives him time and awareness of age.

So. £50m income Mr Edwards this window. £36m spent. Welll done.

22 Aug 2021 23:28:03
What WhyOWhy and MK Scouser said. He has a need to be the Messi in a team, so that if off the ball, you cut him some slack, but we all know that won't fly in a Klopp team.

22 Aug 2021 23:32:51
Best of luck Shaq. In the right system he is a quality player. I hope he has success.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - if he stays injury free I’m sure he’ll be a total success.

23 Aug 2021 00:08:33
My Shaq memory is seeing him substituted against Barcelona and how pumped he was coming off. It meant something to him and that's all I ever need to know.

23 Aug 2021 08:10:15
Didn’t have the mentality needed to be a first teamer but awesome left foot and skills.

Agree1 Disagree0

23 Aug 2021 10:54:24
Acered, I disagree with that.

No doubt Elliot is talented but i don't think anybody has seen enough of him at Premiership level to judge him yet. I think every red hope he fulfils his potential.

Shaq picked out some lovely passes/ through balls for us.

Shaq gone to Lyon for 9.5 mil pounds. Still think one of Origi/ Minamino will have to go to bring in a new forward.

Believable3 Unbelievable0

22 Aug 2021 20:11:26
Not really? If the owners cab find the right payment plan with a club they have now opened up an additional spot in the squad which needed to be available, it just depends on if we can find a club willing to take spreader payments I guess.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 19:58:55
just put it on the balance sheet and get us to a bit better position financially.

22 Aug 2021 20:40:28
I think Minamino will stay and fill that Shaq/ Origi role, he had a very good preseason and I think he can play a good enough role for us this year.

Afternoon Ed’s,

One of my favourite players to wear the red shirt has been Coutinho, from the first game against Wigan away I thought he was something special. Now, granted, the way he left had me fuming, but for me, I would take him in a heartbeat on a season loan.

Don’t want to get excited, but having read below, could it really happen? Could the magician come home? Or more to the point, would it happen?

🤙.

Believable2 Unbelievable0

{Ed025's Note - more importantly...why would you want him?..

22 Aug 2021 16:06:23
And what are you reading?

I think sometimes we all deserve a second chance. he should be allowed to come back, but be prepared to apologise and accept he would be part of squad and prove his worth.

How many games have you actually watched Liverpool play?

The player that said was injured as didn't want play to get the move to barca.

Agree6 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 17:01:55
Lad's seriously why would want him near the club. The only person worse than him was our Serial Biter himself.

Agree9 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 17:13:39
I do agree Barry mate, he did himself no favours when he left, but the lad was quality coming in on that right foot and bending it in the far corner.

Maybe it wouldn’t work, but could he slot in easily? Could he do well for us? For me he could.

As for you ed25 my favourite evertonian, there was a certain goal in 16/ 17 that he scored anfiield road end, made my weekend that one 😂.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - thats before his head swelled TAA and he became a big time charlie, forced his way out by pretending to be injured so no thanks from me mate..

22 Aug 2021 17:36:30
Thanks for the memories. But not needed and not required now. Why bring him in and throw a spanner into the works with Jones and Elliott? Why mess with Mane's and Jota's heads with further competition for that left side?

Agree3 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 17:53:27
It amazes me the clamour to have Coutinho back, a player who is a shadow of his former self and would really struggle to integrate into this iteration of Liverpool.

How many of you would take Sterling back. Left a poor Liverpool side to further his career, has become a better player and is only 26.

He could easily integrate into our front 3 yet I suspect people wouldn’t be keen at all.

What’s the difference?

Agree4 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 17:59:35
Why should he be welcomed back, nade a mockery of the club, the management and the fans.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 18:50:28
I don’t know why anybody would want him back his best position was wide left so him Mane or Jota that puts him 3rd choice on £200k+ a week.
Thanks but no thanks.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 19:16:55
Would much rather give those minutes to Elliot. Maybe he can be our next Coutinho.

Agree4 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 19:26:33
Eh, no thanks. He'd get paid a fortune and sit on the bench. Not good enough and not even the type player we need.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - dead right mate..

22 Aug 2021 20:26:39
Oh well, take the consensus as a no then 😂

🤙.

22 Aug 2021 20:34:43
Agree with your replies Eds25.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - cheers ace..

22 Aug 2021 20:55:14
I’d take him back. Yes he acted like a bit of a dick head to leave but he didn’t drag the club through the mud like a certain bitey racist. He’d give us something different in midfield and more importantly will chip in with goals which none of our midfielders do regularly.

PS sorry if half my previous response gets posted.

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 21:10:22
WhyOwhy, I’d not have any of Sterling, Coutinho or Suarez back. The way Sterling left and the fact he happily led the other City players singing songs mocking Hillsborough and Sean Cox makes it that he will never be welcome at Anfield in any capacity as far as I’m concerned (and I hope that’s a view shared by many), Coutinho faked injury whilst being able to play for Brazil to force his way out, he’s made his bed so he can lie in it. As for Suarez, he dragged the name of the club through the mud for racism and biting, and after being unequivocally (and wrongfully) backed up by the club, still stuck two fingers up and left. So no, I’d never want ANY of them back.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 21:02:11
Well now that that's settled anyone for El-Hadj-Diouf😂.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed025's Note - i remember him barry...he was the spit of someone i once knew mate.. :)

22 Aug 2021 22:07:01
The improvement since he left is no coincidence.

22 Aug 2021 22:30:05
Just what I was thinking Laddie. We were a top 4 hopeful when he left. Since then we’ve become European, World and Premier league Champions.
This current squad is in a different league to PipCo he wouldn’t even make the bench.

Agree2 Disagree0

22 Aug 2021 22:32:50
I’d rather rubbish in my hands and clap than take coutinho back. Him Suarez and Sterling aren’t good enough to play for Liverpool.

Have Barcelona fully paid liverpool for pipco eds?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - They have paid all Liverpool are going to get.}

23 Aug 2021 07:27:35
Because he’s a goal scoring midfielder which we don’t have.

Agree0 Disagree0

23 Aug 2021 10:26:47
Got nothing against phil, his huge fee helped us a lot, but I wouldn't take him on a free with barcelona paying half his HUGE salary, reason is simple, we need a squad refresh, think at the beggining of next season, our front 3 will all be over 30, milner is approaching like 40 now, Henderson and Thiago are over 30, we need YOUNG players being bleed into the team, not expensive veterans blocking their path.
