first time poster and would like the eds view on moses as us and spurs look like missing out on willian to chavski, I think he would fit well in our style of play, any idea on his value if available, thanks and keep up the great work you do! {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has shown no interest but he is available.}

Ed Moses? Wrong sport mate.

You think wrong. He would never fit in our system and I doubt very very much we have even looked at him this window

Ed which teams are interested in Benzema? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal and potentially PSG.}

Believable3 Unbelievable14

22 Aug 2013 19:42:26
Sorry if this is old new Eds but just scanned through post and I did not see anything but sorry up front.

Sakho according to PSG is desperate to join LFC. Do you know if this is relatively true or is there a large element of over playing it to raise his profile and choices?

I so wish out of all players mentioned (bar Arda perhaps) we would put a healthy bid on this excellent player {Ed002's Note - Sakho is on the list of targets for Monaco. Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is some interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan, Manchester City and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. Baader has explained that AC Milan and Liverpool have recently enquired about his availability but at that time PSG were not keen on selling and the player was then keen to stay. However, Laurent Blanc remains concerned about his attitude and would be willing to let him move on - that could be facilitated after the departure of Leonardo who had been lending him support. Would be an excellent buy for Liverpool if Agger or Skrtel were to move on, and not out of the question, but no offer has been made by the club at this time - whilst AC Milan are actively pushing for a deal. Napoli will also consider Sakho as an alternative to Alderweireld.}

Believable18 Unbelievable6

22 Aug 2013 20:59:18
I don't know if you could comment on this Ed02 as I realize you're not a mind reader, but would Sakho want some assurances over game time (under the assumption that Agger/Toure are both available instead)? I could perhaps see a scenario where we would like the player as a 3rd choice, but he doesn't necessarily want to be 3rd choice? {Ed002's Note - He wants to move because he wants to play.}

Hi eds, do you think we will still get an attacking player? And from 1-10 what's the likeliness of these players coming to Liverpool?!

Andriy yarmolenko
Luis Muriel
Arda turan
Iker muniain
Christian eriksen
Jeremy menez

Cheers. {Ed002's Note - I am not going to grade any of these, but I would not be at all surprised to see an effort made to sign Arda Turan at €24M. The issue is timing - with interest still there from Arsenal.}

Believable19 Unbelievable4

Eds so u think we could still come in for arda turan? I thought it was a while ago we made an enquiry to his club and at this late stage we would stick with what we had? {Ed002's Note - See above.}

Agree0 Disagree0

We have been linked with Arda for years now and I just think we really missed a trick with him as he made it pretty clear that he would have loved to have played for us. Having said that I would love to have him it just seems a bit silly getting him a good 4-5 years later than we should have

I can't see us going for any players of this calibre, these would cost a fair amount of money and FSG seem intent on spending as little as possible.

22 Aug 2013 18:36:40
now that we need a new centre back and a winger and the fact it looks like willian is off to spurs why don't we bid for toby alderwerield, christian erikkson and victor moses, what do you think the chances are of us getting all three {Ed002's Note - The chances of getting Victor Moses will be high with a half decent offer. He is not needed at Chelsea. Eriksen is still awaiting the sale of a player to complete his move to Milan. Alderweireld will soon be in talks with Napoli.}

Believable2 Unbelievable13

If Napoli get Alderwerield would that end their interest in Skrtle? {Ed002's Note - There bid was rejected hence the approach for TA.}

Agree0 Disagree0

So we will improve our squad by buying a player not good enough for Chelsea? he cost Chelsea £9 million only last year so he wouldn't come cheap. If anyone Erikson please. Oh and before anyone posts that we bought Sturridge from Chelsea it was common knowledge that he wasn't wanted nor rated there but I've not seen any sign that the same applies to Moses. {Ed002's Note - Sturridge left Chelsea because he wanted to and an acceptable offer was made to the club - it was nothing to do with not being wanted or "not rated". Victor Moses is available.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Moses would be an excellent addition. Thought so when he was at Wigan and he's improved tremendously since then. Sturridge was also surplus at Chelsea and he's surely improved our squad and let's not forget that Johnson has done the same. Jury's still out on Borrini but Moses is miles ahead and would be a positive signing to say the least. What kind of fee do you think he'd command? Eds? {Ed002's Note - Not much. Perhaps £7.65M.}

Agree3 Disagree1

Well Ed you have inside knowledge but if he WAS rated why would they sell him. Suarez wants to go and we haven't released him. Bale wants to go but the sum for him is insane. Rooney wants to go and Man U are digging their heels in. Possibly Moses is available but what I said is that I [ and presumably others ] have seen no mention that he'd be free to go. And of course at what price would he be available? {Ed002's Note - I said why he left - he asked to go and an acceptable offer was made.}

Agree1 Disagree0

22 Aug 2013 21:25:08
BR will know all about Moses :-). When still at Palace, Moses put in a very eye catching performance against Reading in what might well have been BRs penultimate game in charge. He wouldn't be such a bad option, offers something a little different to the rest of the aquad.

Agree1 Disagree1

There hasn't been a bid for skrtel {Ed002's Note - Liverpool rejected a bid from Napoli on Tuesday.}

Agree0 Disagree1

23 Aug 2013 12:21:22
I'd be happy with Moses for 8m. Perhaps Rodgers can use his Chelsea/Mourinho connect to get a deal done before deadline day. Providing there is any interest to begin with.

22 Aug 2013 15:34:58
Do any of the Ed's know if we still hold an interest in Jorginho and if we are considering putting in a bid? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea spoke to Verona about buying Jorginho and loaning him back for a year but he will be very much a squad type player. AC Milan, Manchester City and Crystal Palace have also enquired, but like Chelsea, would only see him as a squad player. Liverpool interest at this time seems to remain a watching brief, rather like that of Fiorentina, but no formal approach or offers have been made. So he seems to be a back-burner player right now.}

carlos vela anyone?
he is monstorous for sociedad.
i can't believe how strong he is. somewat like hulk.
but pacier and better.
the mexican is the type of player we need. because he can play all over the frnt ST AM LW RW .
though his workrate can be a problem. {Ed002's Note - A couple of weeks back a representative of Luis Suarez told one of the clubs that they were trying to get interested in their client that Liverpool will look to move for Damaio if he is still available or Carlos Vela.}

Believable12 Unbelievable22

Is this if Suarez is sold, Ed? {Ed002's Note - Of course.}

Agree1 Disagree0

Hey ed, would this move for damiao or vela be as a result of suarez leaving or would it be as an alternative to willian/mkhitaryan/costa
Thanks {Ed002's Note - All of those players were looked at with a view to Suarez leaving.}

Agree1 Disagree0

I would take vela I thought he had potential even when he was at arsenal. Could get damaio and vela for price of suarez

Agree1 Disagree0

Id go for them both as Vela can play across the front 3/4, & Damiao would add goals for sure. It will only happen if Suarez is sold to Madrid.

Agree1 Disagree0

Is this the same player who couldn't make it at Arsenal? Didn't he go on loan in the Championship too and not score many/any?

Agree1 Disagree1

I'd be happy with Vela as long as we still invested in a CB

Agree1 Disagree1

Ed all of the above we're looked at on the understanding that Suarez was leaving? How come we were heavily in for William then with Suarez still here and not looking likely to leave? Do u know something we don't then? Just trying to make sense of what u have said that's all. {Ed002's Note - I have explained repeatedly the situation with Suarez. Over and over and over again.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Um, no thanks to Vela, that would not be any kind of marquee signing, more like a fifty quid Argos tent signing.

Agree0 Disagree1

Liverpool had scouts at many Sociedad games last season as I have said in some other posts.

The problem with Vela is that Arsenal have the first option on him as written into his contract. that price is way below the market price he would fetch, I believe around 8 million euros. I am not sure when the option stops.

I understand Roma bid 15+ million for him.

Vela did not really want to come back but he understood if arsenal had taken out their option, he would have needed to come back.

A friend of mine here in Madrid, said that if Liverpool had been clever, they could have sold Suarez to Arsenal for 40million+1 euros, and then asked to buy Vela at the cost Arsenal could buy him back, thus arsenal using their option. Since Arsenal had no intention of buying him, both teams would have been better off and Liverpool would have had 40 million+1 to spend.

How much of this was possible, I don't know but it was a possibility if Vela was on the reds radar.

Agree1 Disagree1

Personally if what you say is correct I don't think that wouldve been smart because arsenal would have suarez which is something we all don't want to happen

Agree0 Disagree0

Anyone who discounts carlos vela has to be insane.
if u follow la liga even a bit. he was instrumental for sociedad champions league embrace not only scoring 14 but also chipping in with 9 assists and assists to assist.
he was the twice the player griezmann or illarramendi were.
surely if we signed aspas, vela is a player twice his caliber.
the main feature of his play were opening the stuck up defenses
however his work rate is a problem. he is not the one to track back.
he was not successful at arsenal because he was wasted behind walcott . one his chance came wilshere made immense roads into the team and was preferred.
chamberlain signing meant he was surplus.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Aug 2013 12:14:40
A few newspapers are reporting that Willian is still considering his options and wants Liverpool to highjack his move? Any truth in this eds? {Ed002's Note - All I can say is that yesterday his agent expressed concern that there was no interest from a Champions League side. I don't know anything about a "hijack" involving Liverpool.}

Believable18 Unbelievable16

I personally think 30 million is way over priced and would much rather we spent the money on a CB of real quality and an attacking Midfielder who is value for money possibly Erikson.

Agree0 Disagree1

This would make sense three days ago sky claimed that willian was to have his medical with the contract signing. this was three days ago. now he has had his medical but still has not signed. either there waiting on lfc to agree a fee for him or he is waiting for another club to come in for him. one thing for sure he isn't 100% sure about spurs otherwise he would off signed by now.

Agree4 Disagree0

Very different views on his price tag from fans. A player who has played in a somewhat lesser leagues being slapped 30m as a valuation could be seen unjustifiable. In my opinion he would of been handy and my main concerns do lie with the wide position. Hope there is an alternative in place.

I Hope Brendan was watching Arda Turan last night.

His work rate was unbelievable and for me a much better proposition than Willian (as you don't always have the ball) He has a "Dirk" like work rate and could see him being a real fan favourite

He's supposed to be a fan of the club. Sign him up!

Any latest? {Ed002's Note - Another EPL side is looking to Arda as an option as I have explained. The player himself would certainly be interested in a move to Liverpool and there is a known fee that will not require negotiation. If Liverpool were to lose Suarez then it would be a viable and likely sensible option if he were still available.}

Believable19 Unbelievable13

Afternoon Ed. Is the EPL club you are referring to MU? MU are interested in a left winger, as are Arsenal. Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Arsenal Syd.}

Sorry Ed, have searched and can see it's Arsenal that have an interest in Turan.

Eds a name I haven't seen mentioned who is a very good player and could possible replace Suarez if he goes is Valencia's Pablo Piatti, what do you and fellow readers think? {Ed002's Note - You are seemingly just throwing up random names. Piatti will likely head to Getafe or Rennes for €2M.}

Believable2 Unbelievable14

Hasn't he been a big flop who cost Valencia a fortune?

Alright eds, and interest in ilkay gundogan? Or is anyone
Thanks {Ed002's Note - It looked like Gundogan would be sold in the summer and there was interest from Rubin Kazan and Manchester City. However, with Goetze going a season before expected, Dortmund will look to keep the player. It has been suggested that Manchester United might try and strike a deal for the player this summer that is not activated until next summer - that seems unlikely to me. Enquiries have been made by Chelsea and Real Madrid. Reports of interest from Barcelona are seemingly wide of the mark right now as they have another solution to the departure of Alcantara.}

Is the Barcelona response to Alcantara Oliver Torres or Denis Suarez? {Ed002's Note - Try the Barcelona page for that Ben.}

Hi eds,

Was just wondering if there was any true interest in Diego capel?
Thanks {Ed002's Note - Marseille, Swansea and Braga have shown an interest Diego Capel who will be available after what has been a pretty torid time this season. Liverpool enquired after his availability on loan. His agent has been instructed by Sporting to find him a new club with an asking price in the region of €6M. His agent has spoken with a number of clubs in England, including Spurs, Swansea, Liverpool, West Ham and Sunderland. Right now Marseille are looking at making another bid for Capel and there has been an enquiry from Arsenal. If Liverpool want to push ahead they will need to offer hard cash and not seek a loan.}

Believable4 Unbelievable9

Is he any better than Sterling, Ibe, Aspas, Suarez, Coutinho & Assaidi who can all play on the wings? The answer is simply NO.

Graham Hunter on talk sport

"The dream for Madrid is not simply to complete the [Gareth] Bale deal but to swap around their strikeforce.
"Benzema has not convinced over the last ten months and was booed off at the weekend when substituted, despite scoring.
"Madrid see a scenario where they are willing to trade Benzema to get the money to try to go after [Luis] Suarez. That's their strategy." {Ed002's Note - So nothing new then.}

Believable5 Unbelievable19

No ED, guess not other than things maybe moving a little. You see this RM/Suarez deal happening before end of this window? {Ed002's Note - I still expect Real Madrid to make an offer and I expect Liverpool to continue to look for a player to come in.}

Agree2 Disagree0

Im stil hoping Suarez stays as were a lot stronger with him than without him, however we all know a bid is expected to come from Real Madrid and i'd imagine if its £45M - £55M than Liverpool will seriously look at it, i'd be happy with £35M plus Di Maria as he can solve our RW problem and than we just need to find a LW which is a priority at the moment to allow Coutinho to play through the middle behind Sturridge.

Agree1 Disagree2

I don't know what source you're quoting Crunch but I hope a LOT of posters on this site read the part about Benzema not being convincing for 10 months. There are plenty of people who are shouting for us to pursue anybody now we aren't getting Willian and a lot of them are calling for Bezema.

Agree2 Disagree0

Talk Sport? Says at the top, copy+Paste job. It went up today via newsnow, so thought I'd post.

I'd be happy with Benzema, he scores. Even in that snippit he scored and was still booed. We create more chances than anyone, we just need a good finisher. If he scored a lot for us, our crowd would love him, he maybe a confidence player and unless you're Spanish, doesn't seem the RM fans love you? Even Ronaldo with all his goals/assists isn't loved out there. so I've heard.
We won't get him and doubt we're interested anyway.

Agree1 Disagree0

Benzema got like 25 goals last year with injuries.

He isn't the type of player Real Madrid fans want, comes deeper to get in the build up, not a dogged and gritty player hassling other players.

The Madrid fans expect a Suarez like player to be their striker and not a Benzema like player. His for I'd nothing to do with goals/assists but play style.

Agree1 Disagree0

Suarez didn't make the team any stronger against Stoke nor will he against Villa this weekend. I wish we could have offloaded him a long time back and perhaps BR and the committee could have had additional signings come in earlier or potentially pressed harder for the likes of Mkhitaryan.

Agree0 Disagree0

I live in Spain and suport Madrid, (Liverpool more so, obviosly ;) ) and Benema is my favourite player of theirs, would love to see him as a red, though its VERY unlikely.

22 Aug 2013 21:02:36
Ed, Do you see Liverpool selling Luis Suarez to Real Madrid and buying Arda Turan from Atletico Madrid as a plausible scenario? {Ed002's Note - RTP.}

Agree0 Disagree0

Not even BR is stupid enough to take Benzema for Suarez and even if Real Madras pay cash up front, we would be crazy to sell at this stage as we will not get a replacement, and we cannot rely solely on Sturridge all season as we know Borini is not going to do much.

To highly rated player by other clubs that certaintly have higher valutaion of the player than us. Then we have learned from the last two summers that there is no chance we will sign the player because some other club is going to bid more.

I feel like complaining about this but in reality we have made brilliant signings with Suarez, Sturridge, Coutinho, Aspas and Mignolet all for a price that is much under the value they would have now, or in one year for Aspas and Mignolet. We have one of the strongest attacks in the leauge with Aspas, Coutinho, Suarez and Sturridge. If they are fit and playing we can compete with any other PL clubs best attacking four players. And that for no more than 50m.

Hi eds and reds, iv already tried to post this evening but I think it failed (a mobile site should be made when you get chance eds).
I have been told today that Liverpool are hoping to bring in 3 new players before the end of the window and lose 1.
Central defence has been identified as the most important area, and my informant says that papadopolous is our main target. Although the fee is STILL the problem he is confident of a deal as the player has made it clear that he wants a movr to Liverpool, I am told we will eventually pay just shy of the 13mill asking price.
The derby kid-Hughes will be the second signing, although talks are yet to begin I am told we are seriously interested and it is thought derby won't reject an offer of around 7mill as the deal is likely to see him return there on loan.
Finally, and most excitingly, we will sign yarmalenko. I am told he is our attacking target and also that we have already spoken to the players agent and the club and a deal seems almost certain although the price is far from agreed and he was unsure what it would be.
Finally I am told only skrtel will leave, and Rodgers is happy to let him go as he doesn't fit the plan. We are hoping that by playing hardball with napoli we may manage to get almost 12.5mill although I doubt this I can only pass on what I am told.
Id appreciate any comments on any of this as always eds.

Thanks

I don't mean any disrespect to you Ryan or your source, but it sounds like BS.

First of all, Schalke want closer to £18 million for Papadapoulos, not the "13 million asking price" you mention.

Yarmalenko is something from twitter. Since we were interested in Mkhitaryan and Willian, both who used to play in the Ukrainian league, people seem to be coming up with half decent players from that league to join us rumours.

Next, it will be Milevskiy, Rakitskiy, Douglas Costa, Alex Teixeira, Khacheridi and then Giuliano.

Pfft.

I would actually love all of that to happen. Sounds too good to be true - and shame whatever sounds too good to be true always is in the case of Liverpool. Hope they happen though.

Agree2 Disagree0

With Coates out likely for a whole season and you say we're happy to let Skrtel go that would leave us just 2 centre backs so in fact we'd need to sign 2 central defenders not just 1. Going into a full season with only 3 CBs is a formula for trouble. {Ed002's Note - Kelly, Wisdom?}

Di maria would be the dream move.
Lw coutinhi
Cam suarez

Di Maria is not good enough. He is the weak link in the RM side. Lazy, unfit and lacking game intelligence.

21 Aug 2013 23:02:39
Dear ED,

1. I seem to be the only one raising this concern but are we targeting a backup holding mid? Because if Lucas gets injured again, what then? Play Allen/Henderson as DM's and get r***d by the likes of Toure, Fellaini. Dembele and co. Medel, Wanyama, Capoue were all available at very reasonable prices, did we not even have a sniff at any of these? i'm surpirsed BR is prioritising left backs and attacking midfielders when this will surely be a problem at some point in the season. So on to the question, are you aware of any interest in defensive midfielders by LFC?

2. Do you see Turan or Ben Arfa as likely targets now that we have missed out on Willian? If not, what wingers are we looking at? Because we will really lack pace and width unless we invest significant money on a lethal wing forward type player. {Ed002's Note - (1) I am not aware of interest at this time in defensive midfield players and suspect that BR might think he has sufficient cover already in Toure. (2) There is sustained interest in Arda Turan from Germany with both Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 declaring they would like to take the player and from his former club Galatasaray. Both Chelsea and Monaco enquired after the player earlier in the summer and Monaco has made two bids. An enquiry has also been made by Arsenal and Liverpool has spoken with his agent. Atletico Madrid previously rejected a move from Schalke saying they did not want to sell in January and even now they would ideally like to keep him for at least another year still. However, a bid of €24M would be enough to satisfy his club.}
