James Pearce has said that we are keeping close tabs on Carlos Bacca and Salomon Rondon. Don't no much about Rondon eds but I thought we already ruled out interest in Bacca when asked previously?

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - do we have to have this every time some two bob no mark links us with people? Of course we are keeping tabs on them, Bacca was the best player outside the Barca team in Spain last season, but there is no chance of us getting him. Rondon had a good game the other day in the Copa America so we are going to get linked, despite the fact there is little chance of it happening. Pearce has no connection with Liverpool, nor does the Echo any more. Neither do they have any connections with Sevilla or Zenit, so I very much doubt that he has any real info, it is just star names to link us with to hit whore.}

21 Jun 2015 22:20:51
ok mate cheers for reply, I used to think the Echo was reliable,I won't be reading to much into there reports from now on.

That is exactly why this site is so valuable to fans.
On every other transfer rumours site except this one, you just get endless speculation, fantasy and garbage- written with the sole purpose of getting page hits.
This is the number one site.

22 Jun 2015 06:44:58
Ed001 I thought the echo got their news directly from the club? Has something changed or was I mistaken?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - they have not done that for years.}

22 Jun 2015 07:01:26
Talking about 2 bob no marks - in your recollection can you ever remember Tony Evans from the Times getting anything right with regards to LFC - personally I think he is a typical " I'll follow the internet websites for rumours, copy and paste and claim they're my inside knowledge " type of journalist.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I honestly take no notice of who writes what, other than when I get 300 repeat questions about the same crap they have invented, er I mean wrote.}

22 Jun 2015 07:09:31
It is amateur hour, I decided to count how many south american players we'd be 'linked' to since the Copa started. Rondon makes 6 and counting.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 07:24:38
Ed001, which jounalists are worth listening to?
Maybe if we knew who's in the know (if any), you wouldn't get 300 repeat questions (just 294).

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - it really depends on the circumstances. For instance Guillem Balague is very close to Rafa Benitez, so he is dependable if it is something directly related to him. Other than that he is no more reliable than anyone else. You really can not call anyone dependable, they are required to come up with X amount of stories, that means that sometimes they will be fillers or invention to keep up with the requirement. That is why we don't go down that route or go to a subscriber model, because then there is pressure to produce something, which can lead very easily to descending into conjecture just to keep subscribers happy.}

22 Jun 2015 08:17:16
Forgive me, we do things slow out in the middle of the pacific. Thanks for the reply, aloha!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - these days the club is looking to shut the press out completely, including the Echo.}

22 Jun 2015 11:05:44
Hi eds, I don't mean to cheese you off, but if you are saying that Liverpool are doing there best to stop info being leaked, then how are you getting your info?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - from outside the club in the main. Some bits and pieces you can get from within the club, but it is not as easy as it once was and we have to be a lot more careful with what we say than we used to be. It is still possible to ask for opinions etc, and sometimes things will slip out in that opinion, but then I have to be careful how I present it here to avoid someone losing their job for telling me something they didn't actually intend to tell me. It doesn't help that players, who are very good at gossiping, are mostly kept out of the loop! Luckily though, clubs have to deal with other clubs to buy and sell players, so you can usually find a leak somewhere in the dealings, whether it is a representative of one of the parties or one of the parties themself, there is usually someone willing to talk.}

22 Jun 2015 12:25:38
Thanks eds, just another question if poss. If that's how you get your info, then how do you know that that's how the press, that you have slated so much, get there info.
Actually writing this I realise that the info they provide very rarely comes true and is usually a repeat from another media outlet or old posts.
I guess you are trusted by the people that you get your info from then eds, and that this trust has been built over years and the fact that you don't disclose names and only info when all but done.
Whilst I appreciate you can't/won't disclose any info just now, are you sitting on some exciting, juicy news.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I can be sure about the media because I have often seen something I have said repeated word for word as 'according to Sky sources' or other such ways to get round admitting they just copied someone else. As you say, mostly they just repeat what someone else has said nowadays.

Right now, there is nothing I am sat on sorry, but it is early in the window and there will be big changes abroad which will have a knock on effect. Player outs will mostly shape our window as things stand, other than what we know about, as the club are trying to get everything done early.}

22 Jun 2015 17:28:31
Ed001 how come you don't think there's any chance of getting Bacca, are there other Premier League clubs in for him too?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he has Champions League football with Sevilla.}

22 Jun 2015 18:03:01
Ed001, I guess so I saw on TV earlier about him wanted a move to England or Italy hopefully he would be willing to give up Champions League football to make that to give us a chance. I won't be holding my breath though

Agree0 Disagree0

Tony Barrett is the one.

Pearce is a sucker to the Mirror Group.

The City need an independent paper in which people can trust, instead of being swallowed up by a monopoly of blood-thirsty sensationalist rags.

Agree0 Disagree0

22 Jun 2015 21:03:01
Hey ed! What is your opinion of Tony Barrett? He seems to be one of the most respected twitter sources, and does get a lot of stuff right, though usually at a slower pace than you editors! Of course, my curiousity was peaked a few days ago when he said we are actually going to move for Firmino.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know mate, I don't use twitter nor do I read papers, I just don't have time.}

23 Jun 2015 07:08:34
Ed001 forgive me if I am wrong but wouldn't a certain Luis Suarez have had CL football with Ajax (2011/12) when he moved to LFC in Jan 2011? Whilst I understand the argument, and am not suggesting there is real meat in the prospect of Bacca to us, better players have indeed forgone CL football?!

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - hardly the same thing is it? Ajax play in one of the weaker European leagues, Sevilla play in one of the strongest.}

21 Jun 2015 16:44:44
Seen a few reports of us in for Bacca. Also links to Roberto from olypiakos seems strange as we have all ready done a deal for a GK wondered if any eds had heard anything

Believable1 Unbelievable10

21 Jun 2015 13:55:31
Eds anything in the Illarramendi rumours mate?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - seems to be that the only thing in them is Madrid trying to tell people he is up for grabs.}

21 Jun 2015 08:12:50
Good morning Ed002

Hope you settling in a bit now mate.

Just wanted your opinion please on Kovacic and Clyne if you think we will get them both done over line line and if there is any update on them please?

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - There is nothing new and both remain players that Liverpool are interested in.}

21 Jun 2015 15:14:09
Marca reporting we've bid £15.7 million for illarimendi. We can't surely be going for him and kovacic??

Believable3 Unbelievable11

21 Jun 2015 16:44:11
He will be instead of kovacic.

If you can get your number 1 target then use what you have, bit hypocritical I know considering stindl was first choice, but if we can't get kovacic then.leave.it and look from within. I can't see why lallana can't play where he.plays next term.

Lucas
Hendo lallana
Ibe. Coutinho

21 Jun 2015 18:38:48
i think ed002 said RM wants a lot for him. not that i think we actually did bid cause i don't think we did.

21 Jun 2015 11:34:02
Inter forums heating up again, apparently there are new indications that Kovacic will be sacrificed to finance the purchase of Kondogbia, and we still remain the only club in the running. Some inter fans wondering why though, with us being overloaded with MF players as it is; however, all seem convinced that he is a huge potential, who will develop much like Cou did for us, and some seem ready to riot at the thought of losing him to us!

Believable9 Unbelievable7

21 Jun 2015 13:45:39
The thing is, I think Kondogbia would have been more needed to us now than Kovacic IMO.

Any truth to rumours about us trying to get moussa sissoko from Newcastle?

Believable3 Unbelievable7

21 Jun 2015 13:35:34
Another mid? Of course because it seems the BR and the TC are allergic to signing players for other positions where we need help.

21 Jun 2015 11:14:25
Hi eds,

I see today we are linked with Llorente, reason being benteke is to expensive.
Is there any truth to the rumours? Or is it journalistic guess work due to them being similar type players?
Although llotente I feel would be a better option then ballotelli, lambert and benteke I still feel he is a similar player and would be a waste seeing how rogers failed to utilise the strengths of lamborelli last season

Believable1 Unbelievable3

{Ed001's Note - I don't expect either to arrive, it is an old link being revived regarding Llorente, I really don't believe there is anything new in it.}

21 Jun 2015 11:38:50
Thanks ed, much appreciated

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 13:37:50
I laughed when I read that. He is just as poor as Benteke. Besides, he's not good enuff which is why Morata, a much better player, took his spot

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jun 2015 13:47:08
Knowing your admiration for Llorente, is this your way of secretly hoping we get him, Ed001?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no. He is not the player he was. He went for the money and it has been the wrong path for him. His desire died when he left Bilbao.}

21 Jun 2015 18:29:47
Llorente was a player we should have got 4 years ago instead of Andy Carroll. He's not the player he was nowadays.

Man City will present a new bid of £45 million for Sterling on Monday. Sterling has already agreed terms with City, using his agent to do so, to avoid any claim of an illegal approach.
The £45 million has a reduced up front fee of £18 million to comply with FFP. This "up front" £18 million will be paid over 2 years, which is typical of 99% of transfers. (LFC will have to wait for 5 years to get all the money for Suarez) There is another payment of 5 million after 2 years and the rest is payable in clauses: appearances, trophies won etc.
Man City will again claim this is their "last" bid.

On a separate note, any one else concerned that LFC making the same mistake from last year. signing too many players, which will disrupt the squad??

Believable3 Unbelievable8

{Ed001's Note - you do realise that FFP rules mean that all payment terms have to be over 3 years now? Unless I am misremembering the rules, there is absolutely no way Barca could pay for Suarez's up front fee over a period of 5 years, it would be a maximum of 3.}

21 Jun 2015 09:51:42
Has it all been agreed though ed like above?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - nope.}

21 Jun 2015 10:08:18
Ed, isn't it that if payment terms in excess of three years are agreed, the FFP break-even calculation must be restated to amortise the fee over three years? I may be wrong but I was under the impression they could agree whatever terms they like but the profit or loss calculation will have to reflect a three year term.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - no there was an issue with clubs like Portsmouth mortgaging the future paying for players over immensely long terms, so there was a cap on length of payment terms to avoid another situation like they underwent. That was what caused their problems in the main.}

21 Jun 2015 10:37:51
I thought payment term(s) were dependent on player age?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - in what way??}

21 Jun 2015 12:01:52
How long has FFP got, on its current legs, ed001 ?
There are numerous legal challenges over it stacked up in the courts and the spectre of a European breakaway league in the background.
How extensive will be the proposed amendments to it that have been mooted by Platini ?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I have no idea mate, I expect the changes to be in the order of gradual loosening until it vanishes altogether though.}
