Liverpool are ready to re-enter negotiations to sign Uruguayan international Gaston Ramirez after it was revealed that the Bologna youngster's move to Southampton has fallen through. Having previously baulked at meeting the Serie A side's asking price for the 21 year old, Brendan Rodgers has been given the board's backing ahead of a £18m bid for the talented starlet.
It had looked like the Saints had secured the £12.8m signing of the Bologna midfielder but that deal has seemingly stalled and left the door open for other offers and Rodgers is keen to register his interest in the hopes of making Ramirez his fourth summer signing in the next few days.

The Saints deal collapsed because the £12.8mil was rejected ... It wasn't enough.
To be fair to the post the Southampton figure of 12.5 was never agreed and this is what the saints offered and what I amhearing is that a second offer of 15m was on the cards but that is how far saints would go..the price is 18m for us or spurs
I think you will find the fee was not agreed by bolognia the only supposed agreement was between saints and ramirez.not his club. they said no way was that enough money to entice them to sell him.

Just to clarify, the player's agent accepted the bid from Southampton, not the player's club, hence it was rejected. Bologna wanted closer to £18 million for him. So we are not paying more than Southampton because their bid wasn't accepted in the first place!

Correct we may want him but there's no way owners will stump up wages he would demand.. Wages owners willing to pay will turn lfc into a everton type club until we are pulling a lot more revenue. Even then I'd not think they would change there policy, I do not think moneyball can work in the premiership.
He would sell shirts unlike our other signings. Would be a nice thought if he could bring his old self, but hey we're lfc and we cannot attract or afford good players anymore.

This is my first post, I'm not gonna claim to be an itk however I live and work in east Durham where Adam Johnson is from. I spoke to a lad from easington who knows his family and he believes Adams preferred destination is spurs. He doesn't believe sunderland is an option( even though that's his boyhoood team). Not saying we can't get him, we may offer a better deal or spurs might lose interest.
Imagine spurs going for a player that we're interested in!
They must have no scouts only a bloke that reads the gossip pages and think well if Liverpool are interested then we should try and buy him!

Hi Ed's - Fiorentina seem to be actively looking for another striker (i have heard Berbatov), does this mean they are willing / expecting Jovetic to leave? or are they looking for a partner to play ahead of Jovetic? either way have Liverpool retained interest in the player? or has he now become out of our price range / availability

Zenit, Dortmund and Schalke have a declared interest in the player and Italy looks like another option available to him (although Inter have said they are no longer interested). FSG have no real money, it's ridiculous that most of the LFC fans can't see it. And this argument that they saved the club is a joke too because several other bids were made for the club it's just that Martin choose to go with them. FSG will never turn LFC into the club they once were, the fans need to wake up FSG don't have the anywhere near enough money to compete in the Premiership they are totally out their depth. LFC are supposed to be one of the biggest clubs in the world. Want to blame someone, blame David Moores who could of sold the club to Sheikh Mohammed and DIC who are worth an estimated 80 billion and he's a Liverpool fan! But instead Moores sold the club to Hicks and Gillett and now look at us stuck with more Americans who see the club as a business and nothing else. Look's like another bargain basement deal could be on the way with BR ready to bid £2.75 million on Omar El Kaddouri from Brescia.
LFC will side step Dempsey because of the amount wanted by Fulham and make enquiries as regard this player.
Napoli and Parma (and interestingly Fulham as Dempsey's replacement) have been tracking the playing since the end of the Olympics but a bid is expected from Liverpool in the next 24 hours.

Utd are obviously still in the hunt but we could offer him more game time which is what he craves! I would imagine that the player favours Arsenal as there are not as many centre mids at Arsenal compared to the amount currently on our books. Especially with Song leaving, Sahin would probably be a replacement for him.
Sahin is not song's replacement. He is more of a temp cover for wilshere. This is not a fuff between lfc and arsenal, rather it is the diff between an exp and famous manager and a young novice One. I fully suport BR but in the transfer market he shid jave been assisted by an exp dof. I do not see any realistic hope for signing quality players frpm continent who would suit br's style.

Maicon can play anywhere on the right side, along with Johnson. If he did end up at LFC, which I doubt anyway, then we could use Kelly along side Marty. We also have Coates and Wilson knocking about, as well as some promising youngsters. I think Johnson would be more suited to RM with Maicon RB.
But all that is irrelevant as I think Man Utd would be favourites in the EPL if Maicon became available.

Hi Eds, what is known of the interest reported in Nolito from Portugal? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool at this time but Real Betis has approached Benfica about taking Nolito on loan. I am wondering if this is simply a recycled story from some time ago when Liverpool enquired after the kid when at Barcelona.}
A loan would be great but why would Benfica consider that after the great season he had? (11 goals). Is he unsettled over something? Seems a risky buy but potentially good loan. {Ed002's Note - Benfica want to keep him - he wants to move back to Spain.}

Ed002 just a few questions.
1) Where are we at regarding the stadium issue? Any significant inroads being made?
2) What do you make of the likelihood of previously unmentioned or unlinked options being consider this window? We're all too aware that initial plans can often not materialise and thus new and/or different alternatives instantly looked at. So how possible is it that, say, Isco, Moussa Sissoko, Gameiro, Lopez may become serious options as we fail on our preferred ones?
3) What of the possibility of a leftback? We all saw what happened at the Hawthorns, and much as I advocate youth promotion, I think it best for Robinson to first go out on season.
Lastly, ed002, a poster on here suggested that LFC perhaps take a punt at Adebayor, and you replied that you'd be 'suprised'. Can you elaborate on that, please?

According to FIFA he is 24, however he signed for Everton in 2003 at "16" however he had apparently already been playing African First Team football for 13 years (in 2003) so either he was playing football at the age of 3 or he has lied about his age.
Not to mention he has no birth certificate and looks about 35+
The chances are that he isn't 24 andd it would be a unquestionable gamble that he isn't too old.

And the manager doesnt make you feel good when after the WBA game he turns around and says expect many more days like this, so we should expect to get whipped by teams who will be struggling to survive! WONDERFUL i know im being a bit negative but the only signing to excite me over the past 3 years has been Saurez the rest i know wouldnt cut it!
He was always likely to pick a CL club over us if one was in for him.

Eds, There's reports going around everywhere Internet/papers that Rodgers has been given more financial backing for transfers. Can u confirm this {Ed052's Note - Not sure, but he had money to spend anyway. It will be added too by sales}
But Rodgers had previously (a few times too) stated that there was a limit on transfer funds and he was quite frustrated and he was finding it hard to operate in the transfer market?
If he has he'd better feckin' hurry up!

Once again we are talking about a wide player. is it me, or are we desperate for a striker? If AC moves on, which would be a shame as he gives us something else, then we have Borini, Suarez and Morgan. None are pure goalscorers. People criticise Downing and last season it was pathetic to see him stop a run, not take on adefender or move play back-but the reality was that he had noone in the box to aim for. so whoever we get, we need players in the box, we need strikers who can do that.

The problem with Liverpool fans these days is that we raise our hopes so high that every little thing that doesnt go our way is a massive disappointment. I chose not to read too much into Sahin being a liverpool player already as its not been the first time we've looked so close to making a signing only to miss out at the last minute. I wouldn't hold my breath on Dempsey either. People coming on here saying how this and that deal is as good as done claiming to have sources. I am starting to feel no one actually knows whats going on and its all pure speculation. How come not one of these so called insiders saw the Assaidi deal coming? Anyways would love Sahin to come but I wouldn't bet on it that's all.
