Just heard that Eduardo Macia is to return to LFC in the summer. Does this mean Rafa may return. Very interesting development. Tomred

Source? Macia is currently at Fiorentina and hasn't been there too long. Seems unlikely.

Where do people get all this information from?

It's true! I saw it written the tea leave's in the bottom of my cup! GypsyRosylee

If kennys not the manager which i hope he is then i would like to see rafa take charge with better owners after reading the epic swindle he was managing us with very bad help coming from the top levels of the club something i dont believe he would have with this ownership.

I'd like Macia to return, he was a decent scout
I'd love Xavi valero and Paco to return as well!

After watching El Clasico tonight I was empressed with Granero when he came on. I know there were some rumours in Jan of us being interested but do you think we could be interested in him in the summer?
Great Site!
Dan {Ed002's Note - Granero is surplus to long-term requirements in Madrid and will likely leave the summer. Granero could interest any number of clubs and may be used as a makeweight in a transfer. Only solid interest at this time has been from Blackburn Rovers and Sevilla back in January but unsubstantiated rumours have linked him to Liverpool and Espanyol as well but there is no confirmation of either clubs interest.}

He looked tricky but slow to me

Gav

Xabi Alonso was slower than a snail, but he was still the dogs crème brulee

Ollieston

He does not want to move away from spain and hopes to procure transfer within la liga

Granero is not that good. Only for set pieces.

{Ed022's note - brand new player profile on Lewandowski of Borussia Dortmund, linked with Liverpool in recent times. You guys know the link by now, cheers all!}

Ed who do you think we will sign in the summer?

I hope we sign Lewandowski he'd be my second choice after soldado

21 Apr 2012 21:20:06
Esteban Granero has been linked with LFC recently, do u know if there is any real interest there? Also his team mate Nuri Sahin is a player I admire highly and is available this summer, do you no if LFC are looking at him?

Seriously doubt Sahin will be available as he has only just joined Madrid. {Ed002's Note - Sahin has had injury problems this year but rumours do persist about his long term future. If he were to leave I would very much suspect a move to Italy (possibly with Juventus) or a return to Germany would come before any thoughts of a move to England. Malaga also spoke to Madrid about the possibility of a loan.}

21 Apr 2012 21:02:49
Ed do u think we will get hamsik don't think napoli will get champions league do u think he will come an he is best of friends with skrtel do u think he is good enough {Ed002's Note - If Hamsik were to move then Manchester City and AC Milan would be the likely choices but I doubt it. Again no known interest from Liverpool.}

I think hamsik is pretty average for what we will have to pay for him when there is better less proven quality for less.

Didnt hamsik sign a new contract during the week

If he is leaving because they dont have cl why would he come to us.

Hi Eds, is Tello actually been looked at and considered by LFC? {Ed002's Note - I know that Balague has said that Tello's contract is up this year but that is not my understanding and I very much expect that Barcelona will offer him a new deal. As for interest from Liverpool I don't know how serious it is but I understand the player has been watched. There is also some interest from Valencia and from Porto. There is a possibility of a loan to Valencia as part of another deal I am informed.}

Would that be a deal for jordi alba?
Bean {Ed002's Note - Right, it has been discussed I understand.}

Tello looked ordinary tonight in the Clasico. Good speed but nothing more. Mostly mistimed and misdirected passes. ra1969

if spurs get europa any chance of us getting gaddy bale seen as he's young and british? {Ed002's Note - No.}

Mate, you don't understand. Our policy is not just buy young and british. It's young, british, and s**te. Bale only meets the first two of those requirements.

barca going to go for reina in the summer.valdes to be shipped out

Best keeper to go for is Krul..great movie too..bernard bresslaw as cyclops with a young liam neeson..

Yes because barca will sell one of the best keepers in the world for a worse version of their keeper at the moment.

U are mad if u think valdes is better than reina

Hi Ed my question is did liverpool have any interest in tiote he is looking a good prospect. The kind of player we needed for our team to quqlify for ucl. thanx {Ed002's Note - There was no interest in Toite last year.}

He's probably going to be in the Champions League next season anyway mate.

RenegadeRed

Hes getting champions league football so wont come to us of all people

Eds, please answer.
I'm really confused.
Does there actually exist a "BUY BRITISH TRANSFER POLICY" at Liverpool? Or is this nonsense?
If yes, do you think it will continue in the summer and Liverpool will again buy overpriced british talents from the EPL? {Ed002's Note - Suarez, Coates, Enrique should give you a massive hint that there is not any buy British exclusive policy.}

Plus alot of the club cars are mercedes..

Carroll, henderson, downing, adam?
No buy british policy eds? {Ed002's Note - Try not to be an idiot.}

Suarez was a one of. coates more so because we would not have went for him if we didn't have suarez. enrique was just a logical choice, but there if defo a buy british policy. henderson 16m? carroll 35m? downing 20m? we had all that money to invest and we gave it away.

There's prob not an exclusive 'buy british' policy, but it makes sense with the rules about squads

You should always have a good amount of British players. That is how Liverpool used to be before Rafa. So good on Kenny for buying British and also looking to his academy and reserves. It is going to continue with Scott Dann and Adam Johnson coming in

Manchester City

Liverpool are after resurgent Chelsea forward, Salomon Kalou

Pls why are we after him he? Available on a free in the summer but surely we cannot base our recruitment strategy on this can we?

He is somehow playing a lot better than ever before in his Chelsea career. Available on a free, he would be a decent squad addition. Not a stellar 1st team stalwart but we need the squad depth.

TSP

I have a mate who is a Chelsea season ticket holder and he would piss himself laughing if we went for Kalou. Or Sturidge. Waste of money both. We must be able to do better than that in the summert.

Eds, where do you believe Hoillett is most likely to go? {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest from Liverpool in Hoilett at this time. Bolton, Spurs, Newcastle, Stoke, Arsenal and possibly Aston Villa and QPR have been interested - plus a couple of clubs from Germany, including Bayern Munich. I understand that Roma may press to have Hoilett sign a pre-contract agreement with them - which may spark further interest from Germany. The English sides are at a disadvantage in the chase for Hoilett now as he is in to the last six months of his contract and he can talk to interested parties from outside of England. Blackburn will offer him a new deal but I doubt he will be interested, in the same way as a move to Bolton, Aston Villa or Stoke is unlikely. If pushed, I would say North London or foreign shores are the most likely destinations - and I do expect him to leave this summer.}

Really think liverpool should go for him, hes young and such a great player, hes got everything, he also scored a brilliant goal today!

Ive heard liverpool are interested and a few ex pros liverpool players have hinted at him joining lfc

Hope we are in for him exactly what we need and wouldnt cost anything .

21 Apr 2012 16:18:16
Could any of the Ed's tell me why Gio Dos Santos is such an outcast at spurs. He's such a good player for Mexico and would be very cheap as spurs never play him and at a youngish age he would be value for money but there is obviously something we don't know...........can any of the Ed's enlighten me? {Ed002's Note - THere were problems with his inability to get to training on time, some attitude issues and his on-field performances. He will leave, probably to Spain, this summer.}

Yes, but is it true that Dalglish in general prefers british players over foreign players, EDS?
To buy players just because of their nationality is stupid really. {Ed002's Note - Like Enrique, Suarez, Coates you mean?}

He is too good to be left on the bench like that, he is better than downing and cost less.

21 Apr 2012 16:17:34
Eds is it true that Comolli wanted Mata but Dalglish instead wanted to go for Downing!? {Ed002's Note - Why the sudden obsession with Mata. Who knows what anyone wanted but Liverpool at no time made any formal approach to Valencia and never made any formal offer for the player.}

Yeah Livepool never made a formal offer beause the manager didnt want him I guess-The reason Ed is that Comolli has supposedly said what many fans believed and feared throughout that he wanted Mata and Kenny rejected him {Ed002's Note - I don't see it makes any difference unless there is an element that are trying to build a stronger case to get Dalglish sacked.}

If this was the case some one shud take the responsibility. I remember there was long heated debate in this site. We were told that mata did not want to come. Eventually we had a 27 year old player for 20 million. Who ever is responsible shud answer some questions. {Ed002's Note - Get your "Kenny Out" fag ready then. A Facebook group is a good way to get support to force him out just in case the owners don't take the hint.}

In all honesty, a player's success depends on the environment he is in. Juan Mata has featured in every Chelsea game this season, but I doubt he would have been as often used at Liverpool. Where does he fit into our current style of play? Would he have made Carroll score more goals? Would he have created or scored enough goals to make a difference in our season? At Chelsea, Mata is another player who can beat you while if he were with us teams would just focus on him and Luis and half the job would be done. Carroll, Downing and Adam all looked great before joining us, they had each a torrid time at Anfield. Don't be blinded by a player's achievements elsewhere because it doesn't necessarily mean they'll be able to duplicate it for our club. Joe Cole is having a good time at Lille, yet people said he was finished when he was with us. I like Mata as a player, but I am not conviced that he would have made a huge difference. We choose Downing and we should just hope for him to have a positive impact going forth.

Canadian Fan

Its from Koptalk

If i remember rightly chelsea wanted him and was using torres to pursuede him to go to chelsea so we probly wouldnt of stood a chance anyway .especialy without c,l

And right there you have a problem, when a fan asks where would Mata fit in. Mata is more suited to pass and move football than the likes of Downing. He would get into the goal scoring positions that Downing or Hendo haven't this season. Look at Maxi he gets into the aforementioned positions and thats why he scores.

I partially agree with the last poster that Mata would probably have decent stats in a Liverpool shirt, but my argument is that the club might not necessarily have been more succesful. When it's all said and done, the failure this year (bar the cup finals) is a collective one. It would have taken more than just Mata to make this season great.

With our American connection, what chance is there that Dempsey might be tempted to use his American Nationality colour his future Club choice. I feel he would be an excellent choice for LFC, but have wondered whether he wants to stay in London. Could he be tempted to be our Yank of choice with an American kit manufacturer from next year.??? {Ed002's Note - American ownership will make no difference is Dempsey decides to leave.}

Eds,
I asked this question before but it didnt get posted
Is there any interest in eric maxim choupo moting
Thanx {Ed002's Note - I doubt he would be for sale and there is no interest I know of.}

21 Apr 2012 12:56:24
Eds what do you think about sturrage? He's said he wants to play as a ST but they only play him on the wing and he's not getting much game time and fits our policy- although I understand we had the option from the Torres deal but he wasnt as good then? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea don't want to sell but would not stand in his way if an acceptable offer arrived and he wanted to move on.}

What would you see as an acceptable price? {Ed002's Note - I am not going to get drawn in to such a subject.}

Please no. sturridge is ridiculously selfish and all in all average.

Any news on Mikel Zaton and Joel Pohjanpalo? and if we did get these in with the likes of dan smith and Jordon Ibe i think we have a good future midfield and hopefully a great attack for the future {Ed002's Note - Nothing mopre than has already been said.}

Perhaps, we can get Mikel Zaton due to Spanish connection of Rodolfo Borrel and Pep Segura, as both are highly regarded in Spain. But Atletico consider him as one of the real quality, so, It can be difficult> as for Pohjanpalo, the boy's stats look great. Can't say, more. YNWA {Ed002's Note - Don't forget the age of Zaton which will make it difficult to move before he is 18.}

Hi eds, can you clear this "Mata" issue up for me? I've been under the impression that he didn't want a move to LFC. Firstly, were we interested in him? If so, did he reject us and eventually move to Chelsea?

I recall one of you stating that Downing was the number one option for Kenny, but was this as a result of Mata rejecting us or something or did we want both or something?

I just want it cleared up if you could help me.

Cheers {Ed002's Note - No offer was made by Liverpool for Juan Mata but there had been some interest shown.}

Do you know if Downing was the preferred option or Mata? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool made no offer for Mata so Downing was the player that Dalglish wanted.}

Whilst we would all like to see the types of player like Mata I think we really have to grasp how much these players actually cost. Lets imagine Downing and Mata both cost £20m, and I guess Downing as an England regular must be on about £60k a week and I would estimate at Chelsea Mata is on say £150k a week, now without agents fees and signing on fees etc, over a 5 year contract Downing would cost us £35.6M whilst Mata would cost us £59m, a massive difference, in fact double the price over 7 years.
I think as it is becoming clear that the owners are desperately trying to drive the wage bill down (cole, Aquilani, Poulson, Kuyt, Maxi and possibly Johnson) I think it is time for a reality check on the type of player we are looking at getting in the summer. We have unfavourable tax levels compared to some countries which means we have to also pay them considerably more for the player (and agent) to receive the same amount.
I may be out with some of the figures and I am sure Ed 002 will put me right, but hopefully I have explained the situation as I see it clearly.
RNred

He just did nt wanna join a mid table side on the slide so he opted for the renties.

The point the original poster is getting at is commolli wanted mata,kk wated downing.
then,cammolli got sacked...
as rafa would say,those are the facts.

Actually RNred, Mata is on less wages than Downing. I think it is roughly 70k for downing and 40k for Mata (from what I've heard). The main reason for this is because Mata was at Valencia since a young age, he was on relatively low wages; and as such, is wage demands aafter his move were a huge improvement on his last wages, but still relatively small

RNred

I think its as simple as Kenny felt at the time Downing was the better player and more suited to what he would've expected from a player in that Role.

Roy

1st of all you are guessing the wages of 2 players, we have had Spanish internationals in the past they all weren"t on 150k per week were they, your entire calculations are based on assumptions so Sorry

How did you arrive at a figure of £150k for Mata? would have thought he'd be on half that max.

Gav

I guess half the posters on this site don't even watch the matches- Downing's had quite a good month and looks to be improving nearly every game since the final vs Cardiff!

ED will we be signing Ganso in the summer ?

FRed {Ed002's Note - No although he will be allowed to leave because Santos cannot get sufficient sponsorship to cover the costs of both him and Neymar. Ganso's preference is for AC Milan, or Barcelona if MIlan cannot facilitate a move. A 40M euro bid from Anzhi Makhachkala was rejected and Ganso made it clear, regardless of the efforts of Roberto Carlos, that his desire is Italy and preference is AC Milan. Milan do not have the money available to pay the full fee for GAnso and are to offer a straight exchange for Robinho. Ganso was not keen on a move to England so there remains very little chance that something can be done with Chelsea who had previously agreed a fee with Santos. There is also reported interest from Inter Milan, Real Madrid, Spurs, Manchester City and Manchester United. As an aside, Luis Alvero Ribeiro made a series of rather bizarre claims about his dream for Ganso (a) becoming part owned by another club who he will join after the Club World Cup (in December); (b) returning to Santos in June 2012 to play in the Olympics as a player of Santos; (c) returning to the other club in January 2013; (d) being sold for $200M in the summer of 2013. The other club is Porto - none of it will come to pass of course.}

Hi eds none of us know if were going to be making big signings in the summer who ever we get as a st there will be pressure to come up with the good but I think as for other positions go I wouls lik to see the following as I believe they would strengthn are 1st 11 and subs bench

Mohammed Diame
Marko Marin
Christian Eriksen

Other players 2 but I think the 1st 2 don't seem unrealistic at all
Anyone else agree

hi eds, great site keep up the good work, love this site(even though its alot of wishfull thinking here) im working as a scout for a norwegian team and obviosly i have many friends in same line of work... one of them was watching a partizan game some time ago and he said he was sitting next to a scout from liverpool and they were discussing Lazar Markovic... im huge fan of this boy, and i also supported liverpool 20 years... do u know anything about this or is my buddy just joking cause he knows i think highly of him? I have asked the people i thought could know anything, but they are very silent these days.... i also know there is interest in couple players from zagreb one of is badelj who has been mentioned before here, and personally im hoping the other is vrsaljko or kovacic...hoping for answer, keep up the good work.... cheers {Ed002's Note - Lazar Markovic is a young Serbian footballer who has attracted the attention of Chelsea, Liverpool, Bayer Leverkusen and Espanyol. A move in the summer is possible but Partizan Belgrade may price him out of the market. Liverpool have shown an interest in Badelj and he was watched at a couple of games a few weeks back. Vrsaljko is interesting both Manchester City and Roma. Kovacic is much more complicated. Arsenal, Tottenham, Manchester City, Manchester United, Chelsea, Barcelona, Real Madrid and no doubt others have an interest in Dinamo Zagreb's Kovacic. Seen to be one for the future but I suspect that if he does move any time soon he could spend time in Germany gaining experience before a move to one of the more major players in European football. In the summer, Barcelona offered up a small financial payment for Kovacic on what I understand to be an 8 year deal with the first two years contracted to Zagreb followed by a six year deal with Barcelona. This would "overcome" a number of issues with the regulations. However, two clubs have been involved in very recent discussions and on-going with Dinamo whether or not anything comes of it we will have to wait and see.}

Lazar is the real deal... can play all over the attacking area and has great pace... he is a young lad but in my eyes hes allready top class... And i really think liverpool could get him if they gave it some efford....

What position Badelj plays? {Ed002's Note - Central midfield and Liverpool watched him twice during March.}

How about his playing style, the kind of modric?

Badelj has a great eye for passes, and is a real teamplayer... not a standout player skillwise, but really makes his teammates shine...

Hi Eds, quick question regarding Carroll, how you said the club would consider offers for him, do you know if any clubs are watching him and are likely to bid? Cheers.....red89 {Ed002's Note - I don't know of serious interest in him.}

21 Apr 2012 10:37:03
ed do you kow if we were rejected by Joel Pohjanpalo or is there a deal that he will sign next year {Ed002's Note - I understand from a Russian journalist that he is still seeing what options he has and that Rubin Kazan are to also invite Pohjanpalo for a trial.}

21 Apr 2012 09:53:33
We need to sign premier league experienced players, like Ricardo Fuller for instance, and why aren't throwing bids in for Rory Delap big andy would love them long throws!

You missed, Emile Heskey. lolz

I do love a comic!

And we've put a bid in for Sir Tom Finney....that boy can still do a job....

We are liverpool fc, enough said

Wow ! players that cannot get a starting place at stoke right for us what next

Gav
