"It has emerged that the Reds do have the option of cutting short the Serbia international's season-long stay in Turkey during the winter transfer window, "
"Klopp is an admirer of Markovic and must decide whether the 21-year-old attacker would be better served returning to Anfield for the second half of the campaign or continuing his development in Istanbul until next summer. "
"Fenerbahce, who are paying 100% wages of his wages this season, don't have the option to buy Markovic.
"Liverpool were always insistent that the switch to Turkey was simply to get him regular game-time and Klopp is likely to give Markovic the opportunity to belatedly kick-start his Reds career. "
- James Pearce, Hope that stops the 'recall Markovic' questions.
{Ed001's Note - it has not 'emerged', as I have said all along deals can always be cut short during a transfer window. It is outside the window that you need to have a recall option to do anything. Even then, I am not sure that is possible unless it is a domestic loan, I need to check as they might well have altered that rule in the summer.}

Haha, literally just read this article then Come on here to ask a couple questions about marky mark.
Anybody know if he has been playing centrally or on the wing whilst on loan?
Where is his best position?
It said in the article that he has scored 3 goals in 23 starts for Liverpool which I think for a 20/21 year played mostly as a wing back isn't that bad, don't think sterling scored three in his first 23 matches.
I really like markovic and hope he can do a decent job on the wing for us.

Just passing along what I've read ed, nothing more.
{Ed001's Note - sorry that was not meant to seem like it was aimed at you.}
20 Oct 2015 18:33:19
Thanks Ed be keen to hear what you find out about it.
{Ed001's Note - only that Klopp is assessing things for now and will make a decision in time for him to be recalled or not.}

James Pearce has gone into "full guessing mode" now that his source at the club is gone. I am sure Rodgers misses James too.

If it possible I hope he returns, as long as we are still competing on multiple fronts. He never played that badly especially out of position, and a new manager might give him a fresh lease. It would be hard for him to come into a team a year after the manager has started and we have a few similar style players through the middle it would be good to have a change or option wide.

I think markovic is pure class and the lad got tucked up by rodgers playing wingback. he's strong quick skilful and under klop i think he will be allowed to express him self again and show everyone why he is so highly rated for a youngster.

That's all very interesting since I seem to recall a comment coming back when Ilori was questioned as a possible returnee a week or so back on this site that "how many times do I have to say, he can't be recalled they have paid a loan fee". Can't rebr who said it but it is clearly wrong as, like was said in reply, contracts can be broken under circumstances agreed between parties be it resultant of a monetary trade or other.
{Ed001's Note - outside of a transfer window it was said. People never read properly, then make false statements about what was said.}

But that all said I believe Markovic to be yet another average player. Some of the players bought this year by smaller rival clubs costed a minuscule amount by comparison: a certain x4 goalscorer for Newcastle last week, a certain midfielder for West Ham setting the prem alight, a certain French playmaker returning to the league with Palace. I might be wrong but, for example, we could have got all 3 for less money that Firmino and not much more than Markovic? !

So you want cabaye wijnaldum and payet? So they'll replace Henderson coutinho and ibe? Cabaye is 30+ and is decent but not special. Wijnaldum has been decent, but erratic though and for a cam, we don't need another. And payet is 28 or so, won't get any better.

Frisky,
Markovic has been playing left in a 433/451. He has started most games, got one goal and a few assists.
Fenerbache are currently second so I'm guessing he's playing pretty well.

Payet would of been a good addition in the event we were not completely overstocked, although I would move Milner and Lallana on to make room. However we cannot judge Markovic and Firmino yet. They have not had an opportunity to show their worth for LFC, still too early to bemoan those transfers.
{Ed001's Note - Payet has issues, that is why he is not in the France squad, he is not well liked by team mates. While that is ok in the short term, if you are trying to construct a team for the future, you need players to work together. That is much easier if they get on well.}

Thanks carra.

Markovic never got a fair run in the team TO prove himself. You cannot possibly prove your worth in 2-3 games then a further 6 or 7 games in a position you ain't played before. Considering he hadn't acted as wingback before I thought he did pretty well. His faults were only shown against the better clubs. Can was viewed as a hero more or less in most games yet he had more errors than most. I know that's not fair on Can, as he was another consistently playing out of position, I was just using him as an example of how unfair I thought Can was. I for one hope he gets a chance under Klopp. If Jurgen uses similar playing styles to those he utilised at Dortmund then I think Marko could flourish.

Agree with Sid point about loan returns and I actually believe it was me who made the point that contracts can be broken under the right agreement between clubs (probably financial) and that for that to occur you don't have to wait for a transfer window. I believe it was all about Ilori at the time but same applies for Markovic. Maybe my point was not read or read and disregarded? ! However, I also agree that the latter is yet another average player, at best, to combine with a fair few average players we already have. Physically weak and on too many occasions makes the wrong decisions - it is a personal opinion we are all entitled to but I think he was given chances. We really need quality now not numbers! I appreciate we are sparse when it comes to wingers but don't want winger just for the sake of it I want the right ones. Like I say just my opinion.

My main gripe with the Markovic situation is that, unfortunately, we are not a club that can afford to take £20m punts on players for the future. Fair enough if you're Chelsea or City but Liverpool (and most others) need to be seeing an on-pitch return fairly quickly on that type of investment. I find it astounding that we currently have a £20m player out on loan, only one season after we signed him, not to mention the £16m player we also have out on loan, or the couple of £7m players currently out on loan.
Not wishing to rake up old ground, but £50m worth of signings out on loan is almost a good enough reason in itself to call time on the previous regime. In the interest of not making this into Rodgers-bashing, I felt much the same about the £70m that Kenny and Comolli blew on Carroll, Downing, Enrique and Adam.
21 Oct 2015 18:12:55
So the "regime" you are talking about goes far deeper than a scapegoat manager? ! Yep someone gets it!
22 Oct 2015 18:24:28
RR, every signing is a punt. Injuries, settling in, teammates etc etc. Frightening thing is that twenty million seems a standard rate of late.
