Hi eds
From what ive been told on the qt shane long is arriving in january,hes a good finisher and plenty of room for improvment on his all round game.personally i think he'd be a shreud buy and is one of the brightest strikers in the league at present.
Thanks harry

Too long left on his contract, he will cost too much. We will sign a striker who is in the final year of his contract or a young striker from a lesser league, with potential, who wont cost a fortune. My money is on Walcott. Jonjo Shed.

Great just what we need, a striker that hits the net ever 4 games.
We need someone more prolific than that

Shane long is average like borini . He Will cost around 10m. Christ with the money we spend on borini we could have had a world class striker .

Heard about interest in Huntelaar would be a great signing plus theres news that he is in the last year of his contract to so we can get him cheap! any news or interest in huntelaar from liverpool?? {Ed002's Note - There is no interest from Liverpool that I am aware of at this time, but I understand he is open to hearing any offers made to Schalke. They certainly do not want to sell as it is going well for him in Gelsenkirchen and want him to sign a two year extension to his contract - and he wants to only sign for a further year. However, Schalke said that they would likely sell if he refuses to agree any contract extension, and he hasn't. Atletico Madrid and Lazio would appear the most likely destinations if he were to move in January.}

He has only 6 months to run on his contract come Jan.

BigD

He used to play with suarez at ajax and they had a great partnership, if we did get him he would score goals for us and he and suarez could and would resume their partnership if he did come and just maybe suarez qould be the deciding factor if he did come here because he has not been the same since he left ajax to go to real madrid

Don't think he would want to take a backward step!

Hi eds...
What are the chances of a top player in January? Fellaini, Theo Walcott, Daniel sturridge, kaka, balotelli, Nani, Javier hernandez, Neymar, llorente, higuain..
I can list a lot more but these player are avalible for the right price!

Any chance of a higher quality player? Or do u think seriously we have to wait for champions league football to attract that type...?

Cheers {Ed002's Note - Unfortunately it is no more than a random list of players. The conceppt of "top" is entirely subjective. Certainly some of those players may be available and certainly there is zero chance of some signing for Liverpool. The priority is a striker and I am sure that one will arrive in January.}

Ha ha Fellani? Hernandez? Mancs and blue noses wouldn't be too impressed

Asks about top players, gives a list but only names 3, Neymar, Llorente and Higuain.

The rest are nowhere near top players. All except Kaka are average.

Theo Walcott, Daniel sturridge, kaka, Nani, Javier hernandez, llorente, higuain.. are available at the right prices

you can rule out nani and j.hernandez

you can rule out llorente for january as Bilbao want toooo much for a player that would only have 6months left on his contract.

which leaves Walcott, Sturridge

kaka who isn't a striker and is on steroid wages but is probably available for £10-16m

and Higuain who would cost about £30-33m

if BR is given a £40m kitty

i'd say buy Higuain and kaka for £46m

Diego Contento - £6m

Diego Lugano - £4million

= £56m

sell
Downing £8m
Enrique £6.5m
Cole £1.5m
= £16m
56 - 16 = £40m

.....................Higuain.....................
.....Kaka...........................Suarez...
...............Sahin.......Gerrard...........
......................Lucas......................
Contento..........................Johnson
..............Agger.......Skrtel..............
.......................Reina.....................

Jones, Wisdom, Lugano, Allen, Shelvey, Sterling, Suso
&
Gulacsi, Robinson, Coates, Carragher, Henderson, Assaidi, Yesil
+
injured; kelly and Borini...

Wouldn't matter how many wish bones you used they wouldn't come

Nani top class player.... haha that's made my morning !

Hi ED's just wandering it's obviously our main priority in Jan to get a striker would you consider sturridge the most likely after our clear interest in the summer although it was for a loan?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - The interest in the summer was a tentative enquiry through his agent to see if Chelsea would let him leave on loan. They would not let him go on loan but would not stand in the way of a sale. He is a possibility for January. Hooper is another.}

Afternoon Ed002, hope I find you well. What's your take on my earlier question about the suitability and possibility of a move for Remy?

Chris in Tamworth {Ed002's Note - Chris, I did not see your question but Chelsea, Spurs, Newcastle and Lille have shown varying degrees of interest in Loic Remy but as of this time there have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Remy from Liverpool. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to England but Marseille have no interest in selling cheaply. If a very good offer is made (circa 20M euros) they might be interested as they do need the money. There was discussion with Chelsea about Remy during the negotiations over Azpilicueta but it came to nothing.}

Forget sturridge and Hooper, LFC should offer a contract to ed002 so he cud become our striker, he would wreck premier league defences with his intellectualness.

Morning Ed's and other Kopites.

Read on the Liverpool Echo website that apparently, the owners were willing to stump up £15m to sign Sturridge but Rodgers refused as he wanted to take him on loan initially. Is the part about the owners willing to pay that for him true?

Rodgers also says that there will be money to sign a 'striker of his choice'. An idea roughly who he may be targeting apart from Hooper?

Here's hoping for a cracking game and all 3 points later today. Can't wait to take my seat in the Kop and get behind the lads! C'mon you Reds!

That was the summer but now in Jan he will have 6 months to run on his contract so it will be more like £8m, i personally hope that we can get him & hooper as every club needs 4 strikers we have only 2.

BigD

Hooper close to signing new contract at Celtic.

15m for Sturridge is worse than 35m for Carroll. Hopper is the man for around 7m

Come on mate Celtic or Liverpool? Erm.....

Celtic or liverpool emmmm celticc anyday of the week liverpool of got no chance of winning the league for about 10 years atleast and that is what players wont to win

Liverpool would be a backward step for hooper got no chance of winning trophies with a rubbishy liverpool side

Yeah players want to win the league. The Premier league not the joke SPL. Any player would jump at the chance to join Liverpool from Celtic. Backwards step? Get real.

'striker of his choice'? Let's hope he chooses Messi then!

As a dublin lad who supports both celtic and liverpool, if i had the choice then its simple, liverpool all day long for me, premier league is so much better than spl especially now rangers have gone, i think we can do better than hooper though, if he comes he has my full support but i feel if he comes then hes gonna be nothing more than a squad player and thats not what liverpool need at the min, we want someone to come in and hopefully hit the ground running

Ed could leandro diamoia from international move in January? If true ed who would be interested?
Thanks. {Ed002's Note - Leandro Damiao remains of interest to several clubs including Spurs, Arsenal, PSG, Roma, Sporting Lisbon, Inter Milan and Juventus. Lyon and Barcelona seem to have dropped any interest they had in the player. January 2013 may be a likely time to move. The summer saw rejected bids from Spurs and PSG. Roma or Juventus may force a move - and these remain the most likely destinations right now. His club value him at an unrealistic 60M euro and don't want to sell.}

Hey eds did Damiao not get offered to us on loan on deadline day but the loan package was to costly or did i just dream that lol.

belfast red adam {Ed002's Note - Urban myth.}

Ed2 don't you think 60M is too expensive mate if he wants to leave or his club want to sell then they will have to reduce their asking fee {Ed002's Note - I do.}

Have it from a reliable source that Rogers will not recall Carroll in January - West Ham, even after a few games, are eager to keep him and may even make a formal offer in January - We will take no less that £15m for the player, which will be given to Rogers, along with a transfer kitty of £25m.

Downing is on the way out, but his long term lack of form has reduced his asking price significantly, so he will be leaving on the cheap (c£5m), with Villa and, suprisingly, Everton interested - Also out will be Enrique, with several clubs interested, both here and in Spain - We should recoup what we paid for him.

Rogers will buy a left back and a striker only - no idea who, but I doubt it will be any 'big' names !

That sounds realistic,what i dont understand is why isnt carroll needed?fair enough he doesnt suit tika taka or whatever but arent we allowed to play two differant styles at the same time? it would work better than just playing it on the floor all the time,mix it up a bit,
our defence is poor aswell,weve got quality,strong players but if in doubt kick it out, at least u wont conseed that way

i also think brendan rodgers is doing a fine job with whats availabe,especially the youth,i think shelvey will be liverpools and englands best player in 5 years,but only if he works to be the best,much better than the overrated cleverley.just give the young new manager a chance.
soffy for the long post but once i started i had to get it my chest!

i bet we outplay reading easily but will probs have a score draw,lol

your thoughts,be nice my first post!

plz post in banter edd i wrote it on the wrong page,

cheers ,dorset liam

We will try and buy three players.

Posted this originally and completely agree with Liam - Personally, I am a huge fan of Carroll and believe he has the raw talent to adapt to the 'new' style in time --- In the meantime, he can still offer us that physical prescence we lack at the moment

That's a 45m kitty to spend on two players I hope to at least heard of these players before! But considering the way money has been spent by the club recently well probably buy SWP for 20m and Hooper for the same amount!

I'd hope we get at least 2 strikers and a LB personally.

TSP

If what your saying it correct we will need to replace downing,so striker left back and striker

Say he gets £25m and £28m from player sales (Downing £6m and Enrique £6m and Carroll £16m)

Thats £53m to spend why would be spend £53m on a left back and a striker that aren't big names?

This is who i would buy
Pato; £26m - £28m
Michel Bastos; £8m (replace downing)
Aly cissokho; £9m (replace enrique)
£43m

£43m - £28m = £15m net spending

We already knew that Carrolls Lfc career was probs sadly over. Everton can have downing anyday of the week. Swap deal for pienaar?

Why would west ham buy a/c in january we have him on a season long loan he can be recalled in jan.
west ham have agreed to sign the player for a fee already agreed between the clubs subject to west ham avoiding relegation and a/c agreeing to join them.

Andy carrol may be young enough to adapt to the Rodgers way of playing on the pitch but rumours remain that he can't mature off the pitch and will always be a potential liability
