I've just read that Klopp is considering recalling Ben Woodburn from his loan at Sheffield United as he's not getting enough game time. If he did, would you expect he'd go out on another loan or be part of the squad here?

I can't see him being part of the squad here personally mate, as much as I'd like to see it, I just can't see it.

Not sure what’s happened to Woodburn. He seemed destined for the first team at one point but now I could see is moving him on.

Was reading somewhere, and I'm not sure if this was the Sheffield manager saying this or a media type - but basically they were saying that ben has to earn hos spot and he has to learn he won't be played jist for being ben Woodburn. Also said that team had been doing well without him, and he hasn't exactly been tearing up trees on the training pitch. Maybe it just hasn't clicked for him there or maybe he needs to pull his socks up?

He’s only just turned 19, let’s not write him off already.

Can’t understand the logic, if he’s getting recalled due to lack of playing time at a team at a lower level than Liverpool why would anyone expect him to come back into/ around the first team. He’s obviously not getting a game for a reason.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - I don't think he will get much if any playing time at Liverpool, but it doesn't mean he is not good enough where he is. Perhaps the style or formation they are playing don't suit him. Perhaps he has not settled well. Plenty of things could be causing this issuette.}

21 Nov 2018 13:09:39
Agreed Ed2, I rate the lad and at that age he has plenty of time to impress, perhaps he's just got unlucky with this loan, I'd like to see him go elsewhere to see how he gets on because we have to be honest, the lad has a lot of quality but Liverpool quality? Not yet. We don't want him sat here doing bugger all which is how it'd be, I hope to see him go elsewhere on loan for now.

That would be my preference too, Salah. He was a regular in the Wales squad before his time at Sheffield Utd, but he's now not getting picked due to his lack of playing time. I hope he gets another loan and preferably not Southampton. Maybe Leeds (if he could get game time), Villa or Swansea.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - He can't go to Southampton.}

21 Nov 2018 20:43:06
I agree EpicPotato, Leeds would be a really good option I think.

Not slaying the lad just meant he’s not playing at Sheffield Utd so can’t see him coming back and getting in when players like Solanke and Origi aren’t having a sniff and I think he’s behind them in this current point in time he has potential And I think he’ll have a very good career but unfortunately I think it will be away from Anfield (hope he proves me wrong)

Evening Eds, have we shown any interest in Timo Werner? He looks like a top player to me. Cheers top site as always.

{Ed002's Note - No but there is interest from elsewhere.}

Shame cheers Ed002.

I would imagine he will cost someone close to £100 mill, there can’t be more than 4 or 5 clubs that can afford him and need a striker. Chelsea?

20 Nov 2018 21:14:53
He would suit either Chelsea or Colchester.

Who are Liverpool currently interested in?

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Nov 2018 03:46:53
Hessle, no one lol. We aren't making any squad additions until the summer, which will likely be dictated by players being sold.

22 Nov 2018 10:43:27
I imagine Timo werner would be a success at Colchester I know he might not get in the team to start with it wouldn't be easy to wrestle Ryan gondoh or frank nouble out of the team but if he knuckles down in training catches the gaffers eye makes the most of his appearances off the bench as long as he doesn't let the potential adulation get to his head and he doesn't get his head turned by the bright lights of Plymouth argyle I'm sick of them pilgrims poaching Colchesters best players and they would have got away with it if it hadn't been for those pesky kids he should be OK.

Morning lads, Luka Jovic rumours are very wide of the mark, Liverpool not actively looking for a young striker in the January transfer window, Brewster and solanke are seen as enough, Origi will be heading out, thanks.

Regarding Brewster, how is he going at the moment after his injury is he getting close to a return yet, if so do you see him being in the first team this season or after the injury do you see him getting more of a chance in preseason next year.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Nov 2018 19:12:24
A shame, as I think Jovic will achieve more in his career as Brewster and Solanke put together. He seems a real prospect.

Agree2 Disagree6

20 Nov 2018 20:40:16
I imagine quite a few clubs are looking at Jovic, though him getting first team football is probably the priority. Brewster is coming back from a serious injury so hard to say with him, but I doubt Solanke is regarded as one with a future at the club.

@epicpotato, perhaps you might have to reconsider your thoughts if Brewster moved onto somewhere like Dortmund and became the next sensation. Distant grass do appear greener.

21 Nov 2018 19:39:30
@minimalhype, hopefully you're right about Brewster, but I still think he'll need to get experience and prove himself elsewhere on loan first. I just can't see him getting much game time to improve. We're not in the same situation now as we were when Robbie Fowler walked into the first team or Michael Owen. Even bench appearances would be hard to come by, especially with Sturridge's (albeit only on some occasions) ability to be a brilliant boost from the bench.

The old saying may apply if he's good enough he will play at some point.

Ed do we have interest in Pulusic and what do you see happening with him in the summer please in terms of signing a new deal with Dortmund? Also in terms of interested clubs is it Chelsea leading the way?

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Selling Christian Pulisic would not be a popular move amongst Borussia Dortmund fans and one the club will resist. There is nothing to say that BD has "put him on the market" nor "put a price on him" (certainly not in GBP) for a January move. However, it is fair to say that a transfer is one actually planned for the summer of 2019 by Bayern Munich. However, Dortmund do not want to sell and want a new contract agreed - right now that is not the case but they would try and resist a sale to Munich. If Dortmund were to decide to sell before summer I have no doubts that Bayern would change their plans and try and make a transfer happen - playing on the back of their being a German side and their relative success in Europe - and that might attract the player. Borussia Dortmund would in such a situation be more willing to sell to the English sides who enquired after him last summer. Manchester United are one of the sides but they wanted more versatility, figured Pulisic would not be available and headed off, unsuccessfully, in another direction. Spurs were holding back but were seemingly keener on others after perhaps thinking he would not be available regardless having sustained interest. That would leave Chelsea who are open to considering Pulisic, but if the player were to say he wants Bayern Munich they would not want to buy him. PSG and Arsenal have looked at Pulisic and declared an interest to the level of wishing to be kept informed. There has been no approach or offer from Liverpool, who would likely have to move Salah or Mane on or change formation to accommodate him and give him any game time if they were interested. Dortmund do have options in mind to replace him if he were to leave.}

Thank you Ed for your detailed reply and information. Very much appreciated as always.

{Ed002's Note - You are welcome.}

If there's one player I'd love to see join Liverpool it'd be pulisic. Unfortunately we aren't going to see that happen. Thanks for the info Ed2, I hope you are well?

Agree7 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - That is the situation right now. If circumstances change and Salah or Mane moves on then there is space in the side. But you won’t find many of the supposedly “elite” players will join clubs to sit on the bench much of the time, unless that is perhaps Real Madrid or Barcelona. It is not simply depth of squad unless a side is regularly winning at the highest level.}

Your replies are always appreciated Ed2, I hope you are having and will have a good day mate.

Hi Eds,

Any idea if Liverpool are monitoring the situation with Declan Rice and your thoughts on him fitting in to our side.

As always, thanks for your hard work.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - The word "monitoring" is really pretty vague but if Declan Rice cannot be persuaded to sign a new contract by the summer he will become a free agent. West Ham are pressing now as they are aware that there is interest from mainland Europe and he could be approached and make an agreement in January to move abroad in the summer. An English or Welsh side could step in and speak to West Ham and make an offer to buy him in January, and certainly there is interest from a couple of sides. Whether or not this includes Liverpool I don't know. If the kid is smart he should stay where he is for a while as moving to a "top six" type side would not likely guarantee him first team football.}
