Ed, I seen you saying earlier that we are interested in some "playmakers", who? Cheers {Ed001's Note - we are looking at loads, I have mentioned a few on these pages that we are interested in such as Sissoko and Eriksen, but that doesn't necessarily mean we will get one. It seems we are still looking, hence the interest in Montolivo.}

We defo need one after the chelsea game showed us, the only two shapes the midfield know are triangle and square.
I dont want to knock any player as it was a great result, but we still miss the drive of Gerrard. who himself is not the player he was,and it is here that we need address. Henderson needs a runout against Chelsea in the cup,to prove we already have a fine replacement.

Diego Ribas is also being considered as well.

Montolivo now 26 and starting to come very good as a midfield boss. If we could get him cheap I'd be happy

Hey ed if we went for Riccardo Montolivo do we stand a chance of getting him, I read AC milan were close to signing him ? {Ed001's Note - of course we have a chance, but it does seem most likely he will stay in Italy.}

Thank goodness he,ll be staying in his country. Don't want another italian player at anfield after the aquillani fiasco.

Evening eds, just wondering how likely it is that Maxi will leave in January or the summer? Up until january gone I would of carried him back to spain, and I dont think I would be alone in that, but since then he has looked like a totally different player. PLeased to see him get a chance today, and he certainly hasn't done himself any harm, he seems to find a lot of space for himself, and he is very neat in possession. Surely must be a one to keep?
Cheers
Kenny2 {Ed001's Note - he could have gone in the summer if he wanted, but he is in no rush to leave, he wants to fight for his place unless he gets the right offer. He isn't just going to take any offer though, I doubt he will go before the summer. I am told he is very happy and settled in the area and likes being here, which is a big part of it.}

Maxi is massively underated, a quality player who makes lots of runs off the ball to make room for others, normally these things go unnoticed though. He also seems to get into good scoring positions when we play pass and move football.

Just like Kuyt, Maxi is underated by many of our supporters which I find very surprising as Liverpool supporters are renowned for their football knowledge.
I was saying Maxi was a decent player when supporters were slaughtering him last season.
Still, I was wrong about Kuyt. When he arrived, I thought he was biggest waste of space since Dundee. Ah well, you can't always be right :-)

hi ed, we need someone who can make us tick like david silva and nasri and need a quality striker who will get over 15 goals a season like van persie. is there any interest in a playmaker or a finisher?thanks {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Luuk De Jong.}

20 Nov 2011 19:45:27
hi ed, any interest in vargas and jovetic from fiorentina? thanks {Ed002's Note - There was interest in Vargas over the summer but Enrique and Downing arrived. Jovetic has signed a new deal and I don't see him moving in the winter.}

20 Nov 2011 19:48:43
Ed are we interested in any good playmakers ? Because I think that is what we lack when gerrard is out tottenham have Modric and vdv and Chelsea have mata man city silva and I think time Liverpool get one so just wondering are we interested in any ?! {Ed001's Note - yes.}

Really could do with someone like Ericksson, Goetze, Kagawa or Hamsik

Well the question is wich one?

Like who?

Like who ? I think he ment a player

I have heard rumors about kagawa and Erickson on this and other sites
gotze is great but cl will be the key
hamsik and gotze will be great if possible

vivek 12011

Out of the players listed only Kagawa is a possibility. All the others at the moment are just wishful thinking.

A team isn't built in 12 games so i'm holding out judgement until the end of the season and i wouldn't be surprised if the powers that be do the same. I like what i see so far though.

Hi Ed is there any hope that we might go for Alvaro Negredo, who scored as many goals as Aguero last season? I know we were linked with him during Rafa's era but what about now? {Ed001's Note - unlikely, we decided against him back then, I doubt we would return for him now.}

Not likely to by him in case suarez shouts him to pass the ball and ends up on an f.a charge.

He'll be banned as soon as he arrives with a name like that. Don't these foreigners realise they can't give people names that?

20 Nov 2011 18:41:03
hii eds just read on a site lfc are interested in bedtner and r ready to offer 11 million euros. pls tell me this is not true {Ed002's Note - It seems unlikely to me.}

Liverpool are set to make a bid for Fiorentina midfielder Riccardo Montolivo this January before the player ends up as a free agent at the end of the season.

Liverpool are leading the hunt for Blackburn's defensive colossus Chris Samba.

source:LFC Site

Are these true Eds? {Ed001's Note - already answered these yesterday. Yes to the first, no to the second, it is an old story mistaken belief when we were scouting Jones. Samba changes agent and suddenly all sorts of stories about him hit the media!}

I watch very little serie A. Is montolivio as good in real life as he is in football manager?

Ash

I am not going to pretend I know a lot about the player, but from the little I've seen and heard of him he seems to be another CM. We need a right sided creative player to plug a gaping hole in our team.

Like samba,good player

Montolivo is a CM/AM in the Aquilani mould - something we have needed on quite a few occasions this year, not so much in others. It could be that he is the midterm replacement for Gerrard to allow Henderson and Shelvey to develop without putting too much pressure on them.

TSP

Montolivo will not be coming to Liverpool. He will go to milan on a free transfer when his contract expires.

Milan wanted to take him last summer but were put off by Fiorentina high price tag for a player with only a year left. They will now wait until his contract expires.

Heard whispers that Torres deeply regrets moving to Chelsea but felt he had no choice at the time. He feels that he doesn't have a connection with the club and fans and is weighing up options for a return to Liverpool. Abramovich does not want to sell Torres and has clashed with Villa-Boas, who does not feel the striker has a place in his team. Expect some sort of story in the press in the coming days.

We would never have him back

I wouldnt mind torres back, i understand why he left, owners, hodgson, sackings etc, bet he wished he stuck around longer, someone like torres is something where missing.

Regardless of whispers, his chances of being sold are slim to none unless they recoup the 50 mill. His chances of being sold to us is absolute zero. There is more chance of rooney signing for us.

The economist

So AVB doesnt believe torres deserves a place in his team? even thought in papers yesterday he said he would still pay 50 million for him today because hes that good... hmmm bit strange that

With regards to the last post, do you think AVB will come out and say "No way I would pay 50 million for Torres, he's not worth it"? Of course AVB thinks it. Everyone who knows anything about football thinks it. However, he has to back his players. More importantly, he has to back Abramovich who a) coughed up the 50 million in the first place, and b) quite literally holds AVB's job in the palm of his hand.

RuncornRed

I would NEVER want him back the JUDAS

He will come back - He had his head turned by the additional financial gains, but has realised there is more to life than money

I wouldn't mind Torres back. I think that he and Suarez up front would be absolutey amazing. I understand why he left and if you remember, Pepe Reina nearly left due to the same issues as Torres.

Every couple of days this comes up, let it go! He's gone i wish him all the best along with his fat bank balance, he's made his bed. All the best.

KNEE JERK

Let's face it , modern game is all about business. Morality no longer exists. So purely speaking with my business head on - If Torres was as good as he was in his first two seasons with us & the money was right - I'd take him back in a flash.

dd

If rush can leave and come back so can our old number 9, i feel sorry for the lad somthing never sat right in all this, he has never looked happy in a year and half. more so since he left. his fault yad yad yad i know.. he dumpped us
matt f

Torres has never been a bad player, but systems and locations make the difference, and the circumstances possibly make it hard for him at Chelsea? Ed002 is closer than most of us and maybe she could add something constructive. But I would welcome him back at any time, he looked at home in RED.

If he apologises for not giving new red regime a chance,ild take him back.He aint player he was,but reckon he d be superb with Suarez.Something unfortunately i cant see happening with Carrol

I see Torres was again used as a sub (backs up the bit about AVB not really wanting him)

Did anyone notice that Torres was smiling with Liverpool players at the end, despite his team losing! He well wants out!

Nobody knows the real story, we know what we read or hear from others, not saying the way he left was ok, but if he wanted back in i would say hell yes!, with suarez the possibilitys are mouthwatering, i was crushed when he left but i want L.F.C. to win everything and if he returned i think we would be that much stronger. Andy is crap, its true ,he falls to the ground at every challenge and hes the biggest guy on the pitch, no ball control and slow, sell him , eat the loss ,move on .....kingkennykop7

Anyone who has even HALF a brain knows Nando DIDNT want out. NESV wanted the cash. Moneyball, building "Brand Liverpool" and all that offensive garbage.
Come back Nando. And perhaps we could also see the end of Americans lecturing us about "the soccer business" too? {Ed001's Note - you mean his previous transfer requests that were refused were a sign that he really wanted to stay?}

Yes Torres smiling and sake hand to Lucas. may be congratulate him. £20m if agreed then bring him back.

This is all fairly straight forward, Gillette and Hicks lied to Torres and everyone, and never gave Benitez enough funds to to buy the top players to add onto our own best players, to have depth of squad to win the premiership.
Its abnormal for a team that wins the Champions League Final and consistently doing well in the Champions League campaign not to add better playersto win their own home league, but instead make Benitez sell our best players to buy new players, how crazy is that....we still have no depth.
Benetiz punches way above his weight to achieve miracles in runners up in the top competitions, and also winning all the top cup competitions.

Torres had enough of lie after lie, and simply snapped with Gillette and Hicks and jumped ship, as all he wanted was to win things like before, be the number 1 striker in Spain winning the euro for Spain with his goal, and then the World Cup, not to running all over the place pulling his hamstring to be on the bench for his whole career.
This is why in the space of a few days and the crazy 50m from Chelsea, he just jumped to be able to play football again. It could have been any team in the world, but he just wanted to play football.

Things have not worked out for Torres because Chelsea style of football does not suit him, and to make things worse Chelsea degrading way of living doesn't suit his family thinking attitude.
Deep down Torres Loves Liverpool, and i like many Liverpool supporters and also Liverpool Fans would love Torres and Suarez to play together. The fickle minority dislike Torres because he went to Chelsea, but if he came back and banged in a hatrick then that's is all forgotten in 90 minutes.
Torres can see Liverpool under Henry is now stable and buying good players, and can give him what he always wanted, to be in a Liverpool shirt challenging for the top honours.

But here's the trick question, if Torres wanted to come back, and all the Liverpool fans want him back, but we can Higuain, Gomez, Pato, Van Persie or even Tevez in that right forward position, what would we do then.
The sensible simple solution and argument to this all, is that Liverpool fans need to think as managers and not shout off gobby comments, Torres is good for Liverpool, tried and tested in the EPL under a Liverpool system and it works, but the only way Torres can come back is if Chelsea understand Chelsea under Torres will never work and get rid of him as a loss back to Liverpool.

Apart from one dead loss team. all the top teams have to come at Anfield, so we can definitely get into the Champions League, but Henry needs to back King Kenny and buy an assasin right forward to turn draws into wins to secure this, where if the price is right I hope Torres comes back to us in the January window. Vote Torres and Suarez !! {Ed001's Note - Torres is not someone I want to see back, he is not as good as he was, it is that simple.}

If and when Benitez gets a new club then thats where Torres will end up.only one player has left LFC and done better and that was Mcmanaman.

Wouldn't mind having him back, especially when Gerrard and Suarez are on the pitch the link up would be great. But there's a better chance of getting Masch + Alonso back than him.

Looks like Chelsea will be dragged in to the battle for the top 4 with us and spurs. No chance in 1000000 years will they even consider selling Torres back to us

Torres will never function under the Chelsea system, and even though i don't think Torres is as good at what he was, if a cheap deal can be done with Chelsea then get him back as under the Liverpool playing style he could still bang in 10-15 goals, and/or be a good back up to Higuain or Gomez.

Eds

We have been linked with samba of blackburn today but by some of your comments a centre back is not a priority. So is this just paper talk or do you see a move by the club to try and sign him?

Thanks

mighty reds {Ed001's Note - I have not heard of any Liverpool interest in him at all.}

Thank god for that do not rate him hes not good enough for liverpool fc

20 Nov 2011 10:21:20
hi eds, i was just wondering if Liverpool have shown some interest in R. Soldado. He is a great finisher - just what we need now. {Ed001's Note - we did in the past, when he was a youngster we tried to get him for the academy I believe. Since then, I have only heard whispers, but we have always kept close tabs on youngsters we like, I wouldn't expect that policy to have changed.}

Hmmm, he scores two vs. Real and now the rumours begin! We should sign that guy Suarez from Uruguay....heard he put 4 past Chile!

He not just score 2 yesterday. he been in good touch in every match this year.

20 Nov 2011 08:15:34
Hey Eds, do You think LFC will sell anyone (Skrtel, Agger, Maxi, Lucas, Kuyt) in winter and bring in a good winger/striker and another defender or will they do some big bussiness later in the year, in the summer?
cheers {Ed001's Note - if someone is sold, they will be replaced. There is a very good chance of that happening. Other than that, I don't expect more than one, or two at the most, January signings.}

Lucas is improving a lot and i guess is alwas in the team sheet
kuyt is the most hard working player i know though he still misses a some chances but i still rate him high
agger is the best defender v have but gets injured
skrtel is ok he should be replace
sell maxi to blues as they r in market for liverpool player who scores against them [torres,Meireles] :D

vivek12011

Are you stupid. I would not sell any of those players atm. You would be taking the experience out of the squad.

20 Nov 2011 05:52:57
hi eds
what are the chances of signing luuk de jong in january
cheers
pragyan
{Ed001's Note - hard to say, I am told we were watching him with a view to signing him next summer, but that was before so many others took an interest. So now there is always the possibility we have to move for him in January or miss out.}

20 Nov 2011 05:31:13
Hey ed from what am hearing we will be making a move on contract rebel ricardo montolivo come january for a reasonable fee coz in summer he will be leaving for free what are your thoughts on this {Ed001's Note - I do believe we are checking him out currently, but I have no more idea than that. It could easily be with the intent of agreeing a pre-contract for a summer move.}

20 Nov 2011 02:14:57
Medias reporting LFC interest in Alberto Gilardino and Montolivo from Fiorentina.
Is there any truth in your opinion Ed?
Obviously the birth of those two rumours at the same time is the consequence of another commolli (or scout) trip.
So what do you think? {Ed001's Note - you are correct about the scouting trip, but I don't know who Fiorentina were playing against or where, as it could easily have been the opposition that were being scouted. I remember being told by a then Liverpool player that the scouts mostly watched him during away matches, it is felt it gives them a better idea of the player's ability to cope under pressure I believe. But Montolivo is of interest, so he would seem the most likely target of the scouting mission.}

20 Nov 2011 01:10:42
Riccardo Montolivo's contract is up in the summer..do you think there is any interest
