So let's say Milner and Lallana leave. Eds is Grujic likely to leave also? Even so, then let's say Kane and Jones go on loan for the season. And we sign a creative goal-scoring midfielder (which Zielinski is not) . That still leaves us with Fab, Trent, Hendo, Gini, Naby, Ox.
I would argue that it makes more sense to play Grujic than buy Zielinski. But that's just me and my very average teeth!

I have no idea what's true or not but I was watching an interview with Souness the other day. He said that last season Klopp signed 2 midfielders (Shaqiri, Fabinho) and tried to sign another (Fekir) . All of which suggests he identifies the midfield as an area that needed/ needs strengthening. It is also true that many people are suggesting that the midfield will have a clearout (Lallana, Milner) I also remember before last season Gini being touted as surplus.
All of the above doesn't guarantee anything, but it does suggest that Klopp looking at another midfielder isn't as far fetched as some would believe.
{Ed001's Note - how many times will I have to say this before people listen? Klopp signed Shaqiri instead of Fekir. When he couldn't get Fekir, he went and got Shaqiri instead. He wanted 2 midfielders. He signed 2 midfielders. Last summer suggests he got exactly what he wanted.}

Haha, 'touted as surplus'? What does that even mean? Yeah I remember the Gini 'rumours' as well. Apparently Cocu wanted him at Fenerbahce, right? Yeah well I'm not surprised, but I want $1,000,000 in my bank account but wanting ain't getting. Gini was never available for transfer, is our most important midfielder atm and is happy playing for one of the top teams in world football. Ain't going nowhere.

If that transfer window showed us anything it's that if you want to solve a problem with an area you have to have to spend big for the big players. Spent big on a keeper, problem solved. Spent big on a centre half, problem solved. Spent big on Fabinho and problem solved. Reverted back to second choice bargain to try and solve midfield and it didn't work, only worked for a while for Shaqiri.

Ed 1, Did start with a caveat, stating i had no idea! lol
We did sign 2 midfielders in an area we had cover for. If Shaq is not working out its not beyond belief that he may look for something better.

I quite like Zielinski, but Ed002 is always saying how difficult Napoli are to deal with. that's assuming the player even still wanted the move.
