Hi Ed002,
not only about Liverpool but if you have some time, do you think Bayern will win CL this season? I think they`re top favourites. And will Guardiola try to sign Suarez in the summer? thanks. cheers. {Ed002's Note - Bayern are in good shape to do well. They have an interest in Suarez, but that does not mean he will move there.}

Sadly I think utd will win the CL

could Caulker be an option for CB in the summer? {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any interest from Liverpool and would doubt Spurs would be looking to sell him. I expect there is every chance he will have Champions League football so I imagine it would not be attractive to him.}

Alonso won't come back, he'll go to whoever offers him the sweetest contract to finish his awesome career off with, I believe.

Comolli said recently after Sterling signed his first senior contract that, it is not your first contract that is the most important in a players career but the one you sign when you are 30 or 31. Obviously as to secure a retirement kitty before either a t. v career, I don't think Alonso is the manager type (now i've typed that, wait ten years and he'll be in our dugout. :)

I don't think we will offer him £120,000K a week at 31/32 for two or three seasons I don't believe FSG will sanction that, even if he was free to sign and waved a signing on fee and sacked his agent lol.

I have some spanish friends from basque area who insist he will go back to Althetico Bilbao after madrid. I don't see him come back to Liverpool unfortunately.

I was a big fan of Alonso (and his departure was the one thing I blame Rafa for) but that ship has sailed now.

Ahh the Alonso question, not a week goes by without someone asking it!

Tell your Basque mate that Alonso never played for Athletico Bilbao, Alonso came through the youth ranks of Real Sociedad with Mikel Arteta.

Hi eds, was just wondering if we've showed any interest of Erik Lamela of AS Roma? Many thanks {Ed002's Note - No.}

We only showed interest in him while he was still with river plate and until we found out that they wanted like 12m euros for him then we didn't follow up the interest and he signed with roma {Ed002's Note - The issue with Lamela is his ownership - I am not going to go in to detail here but this summer Manchester City are looking to make a move for him.}

Thanks Steve :) {Ed002's Note - Arda would not be totally out of the question and was certainly looked at by Liverpool back in the day - but clearly those that were in control of transfers did not progress any initial interest. Eventually he moved to Spain. We knew very early on that he would be leaving Galatasaray for Atletico Madrid once money had been freed up through the sale of Aguero - although there was strong interest from elsewhere. Arda Turan will almost certainly move this coming summer subject to a suitable bid being made - something in the order of £18M-£20M. The likely destinations are England, Germany and Italy with rapidly increasing interest from Germany with both Bayern Munich and Schalke 04 declaring they would like to take the player. Atletico Madrid have already rejected a move from Schalke saying they did not want to sell in January. There is an outside chance of a return to Turkey.

Newcastle has done a fantastic job in sorting out Ben Arfa over the past 18 months. There was a time when it looked like Marseille were just going to give up on him. I recall my wife saying that Bursaspor offered to take him on loan and it was seriously considered before his moving to Liverpool. Arsenal and Schalke have shown an interest but in the unlikely event Newcastle were to make the player available this summer then I would think PSG would be the desired destination for Ben Arfa.}

There were reports in the Spanish media last week - AS maybe - that we are going to bid Euro 23mn for Arda in the coming summer, which seemed very precise. {Ed002's Note - It is nothing more than the termination clause in his contract.}

Despite being an ideal player for LFC's right forward position, I understand that Hulk for financial (salary / transfer fee) and sporting (no Champions League) reasons would more than likely reject the chance of playing for Liverpool.

However ED's, can you please let me know approx what his current salary is and what sort of fee Zenit would be looking to sell him for?

Hulk has made it clear when he went to Zenit that it was for the money. Why would we want a player like that?

He cost zenit 40 million and is on 200 grand a week

Ed02, just two questions. Not LFC-related.
What are Porto man Fernando's options this coming summer?
And two, you've said that Alexis Sanchez could likely be available summer. Now apart from Juve, what are his other possible options, and how much would Barca be looking to get for him?

These are two cracking players who'd do well in the prem. Would love them at LFC. Pity they're out of our range.

{Ed002's Note - If Fernando moves this year it will likely be to Brazil. Attempts to buy Sanchez in the summer were met by a 40M euro asking price although I suspect 30M will be nearer to what will be paid this coming summer for him. Juventus have very clear targets and a significant budget to buy a player to play off their main striker. They have identified three possible players - Sanchez is one, and perhaps the most likely one. I would suspect the only way a move to Liverpool could happen is if Suarez were sold.}

Suarez and Sanchez are 2 different players altogether either way I see Suarez staying and Sanchez leaving Barcelona

Hadn't seen any Ed mention the press conference personally but perhaps I missed something you guys read? {Ed001's Note - I think it shows people can't read to be honest.}

People do struggle with reading and also contextualising. The sheer venom that was aimed at Pepe for speaking to the press twice in three days after the City draw, was due to a tv article's headline. People didn't bother with the page and a half of words, just the sound bite out of context headline which mislead the entire point of what Reina was actually getting over in his statement.

What do you think will happen with Cech / Courtois at Chelsea? could you see Courtois going out on loan again (FYI, as a short term solution to Reina leaving I don’t think that would be a bad move for Liverpool) or do you think Cech will be off in the summer? also you say Arsenal could be in the market for a goalkeeper, is this because Szczesny will be leaving? or are they looking for competition for him? sorry I know it’s not LFC related I'm just interested.

Arsenal are in the market for a GK and Szczesny may well leave. With the plans for Valdes changing it would not be out of teh question that they could be interested in him.}

Ed002 - with Courtois having said he'll likely replace Cech in two years, and Barca turning their attentions to Ter Stegen, what makes you think Atletico will be in the market for a new keeper? Surely there's a very good chance of them keeping hold of Courtois?

Kieran {Ed002's Note - Courtois' contract is up in the summer and even though there is a chance that he might be there next season, they need to make provision for a GK, and need to start thinking longer term.}

What's the situation with Iker Muniain eds? There was so much speculation about his future last season and I haven't heard a thing about him since. Do they still over price him? Any teams interested? {Ed002's Note - Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao last January - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros which is related to the buy-out clause that exists for Iberian clubs. They won't get it because I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has had some off field issues. If the price comes down to a reasonable level (20M euros might be an acceptable figure) I can see interest from several English clubs including Manchester United. Lyon, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Roma have sustained interest which is still there but I could not see a cash deal involving Lyon as possible at this time. Rumours abound of Juventus and Palermo interest. It was thought an eventual move to Barcelona would happen, although his performances this season have not been good at all and his temper has gotten the better of him again on more than one occasion.}

He'd probably end up at Spurs if the qualify for champions league, that's what i'd put my money on

As a spurs fan myself muniain to us isn't going to happen! we are more interested in eriksen as the player himself has given us serious encouragement! + were after a forward and apparently toby alderweireld so we couldn't really afford muniain even thought well would love him at the lane! NOW if bale were to leave? he seems to think he will be here another year? unless stupid money is thrown at the club in which levy would force his hand? then why not muniain as well? sorry for the spurs post! but was in relation to the original reply!

Just wondering eds, do you see us buying a central defender and a left back or just a central defender? just want to know what you think we need in defense.
out of these guys, who would you rate as likely or unlikely?
Howedes, Ogbonna, Alderweireld and i'm not really sure about any available left backs

My guess at a replacement for Jamie would be between Dejan Lovren, Benedict Howedes and Toby Alderweireld. They are all big and Loud at the back which is what we need and if we get one of those three I will be very happy!
