Hi Ed

You have said we have interest in Lemar in the Sharkopod and that there is plenty of intetest in him from elsewere, I think from the likes of Arsenal, Barcelona etc. My question is please if you can put it in some sort of context for me. What are our chances of signing him realistically? I guess he would need persuading to come to us given the options he might well have.

Believable0 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - I cannot sensibly put it in the context of a percentage chance of him joining Liverpool over other interested sides, but I can confirm that a number of sides are interested in him and, as I said in the Sharkopod, Liverpool are one of them. Sorry I can't really say more.}

Ok mate fair enough. I appreciate what your saying.

He has indicated (according to sources in the papers, so you can make of that what you want), that we would be his preferred destination out of Arsenal, Chelsea and us. So who knows. Maybe the sensible thing to do would be to let Coutinho go and buy Lemar as a replacement.

Hi Ed002. Apologies if I've got this wrong, but i recall you said after or maybe even in the last Sharkopod, that there would be an updated one in December?

Have i got that right? If so, is it still the case and when can we expect it? It would be awesome to get an update, but i appreciate it is the holiday season and you have a lot of mother in laws to visit!

Believable2 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - I have a bunch to do MK - Arsenal, Spurs, Everton so maybe after that. There may be a need to do so EuroSharkopods as well.}

Cheers 02. Your work is appreciated as always!

So the Miror is reporting today that Coutinho is finally gone in a few weeks?
Eds, January or summer, what would youh say is most likely?
Thanks.

Believable3 Unbelievable1

{Ed001's Note - summer is the most likely, though he is trying to get himself out in January.}

The press must read this website daily. A day or so ago Ed002 mentions meetings by Coutinho agents and his family with the owners now apparently the deal is moving forward.

Thanks for keeping us in the loop, even when its news I would rather not believe haha.

I personally hope it is January. He doesn't want to be here, let's get it over and done with. Would you agree with this Ed1 or would you prefer him to go in the summer when we can get a replacement? I know its a difficult one, he has been playing better recently but still not up to scratch in my opinion, the whole saga has affected his game since the summer, sure he's had a few decent games, that's about it.

{Ed001's Note - I would have sold him in the summer. For me Leicester are the perfect example of the difference that arises when you have players that want to play for you and players that don't. The team that did won the league and almost that exact same team with a few that no longer wanted to be there was in relegation trouble. I know that is not all it was about, but that was the main issue there and you could see the way one player wanting to leave in Mahrez spread seeds of discontent throughout the squad.}

He is going, that much we can be sure of, however the important thing is that the club gets the best deal it can and buys a suitable replacement and doesn't waste the money.

That's a good point actually Ed1, I didn't think of the Leicester saga and I do strongly agree, if we'd of flogged him in the summer without messing about I genuinely do believe we may have done a little better if we had. I think it was all up in the air about his future and he disrupted the squad with his antics.

Things seemed to of settled down the past few weeks but it still doesn't disregard the fact he wants out, why keep a player or attempt to who wants out. I'm not too fussed about transfer prices these days because it's confusing but by the sounds of things we could've got a good price for him in the summer so keeping him when he wanted to leave really baffled me to be honest and what worries me now is, Barcelona have other options lined up, I hope to Christ we don;t bugger about should they put an offer in (no doubt they will) because then they could move onto their next target and we're left lumbered with a player who doesn't want to be here.

It may be just be I don't know, I'm far from intelligent with football like many of you are but many of his games this season it seemed to me like he deliberately didn't give a damn, he's been like a ghost many of the games, going missing and what not, not to mention his 'injurys', this doesn't go down well with me. We're still paying his wages, the respect I had for him is gone having said that if he scores a few past Arsenal then fair play but I can't respect the lad anymore. He could've gone about it all in a much more professional way.

Agree4 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - football has moved away from the clubs holding all the power so we may as well have just let him go and let him have his wish. I do also feel we would have done slightly better, though he is still affecting games going forward, he is virtually non-existent when we turnover the ball.}

20 Dec 2017 12:37:32
Ed, do you not think there's some nuance? Saints decision to keep VVD has clearly backfired, his and their form has nosedived and they'll probably get less money now than they could have in the summer. Keeping Coutinho, right now, seems to have been the right call. There's no obvious effect on the team and he's still doing the business on the pitch. We may even get more money now when he does go.

In hindsight I'd say Liverpool got this one right.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I disagree, there has been a very obvious effect. There have been games when he has cost us badly, with his constant refusal to pass when it was on etc and laziness in working back. The team is not good enough, compared to most of the opponents we face, to carry passengers.}

Good point Ed001 regards Leicester.

{Ed001's Note - thank you.}

'There's no obvious effect on the team and he's still doing the business on the pitch'

Half or more than half of the games he has played there has been an obvious effect, a negative one. Same goes with him doing business on the pitch, he doesn't do it a lot, it's only been the past few weeks mate.

I'd say maybe 3-4 games I've thought 'now that's the Coutinho we all know' that's not good enough.

Can't see him moving in January to sit on the bench especially champions league games where we will probably win it and at Barcelona he can't even play.

I think Ed has a point. Cou may be scoring goals and assists, no doubt BUT that pales in comparison to what he has doing last season as when he was fit and firing, he was brilliant both offensively and defensively. That is not happening now as he is less effective than last season. He does not pass the ball as quickly and often to open players and chooses o shoot rather than pas like he did disgracefully vs Burnley. He moans when he loses the ball way more often than last season (the Spurs game was a disgrace on this point) and his defensive nous (something we all hailed him for) has nose-dived immensely. This is the point I think, Ed is referring to.

Any interest in David luiz?

Dear god, i hope not.

If nothing else, for the cleaners sake. Look at some of the hairstyles our lads are rocking! Salah, Ings, Lallana, Hendo, Karius, Can etc. Throw David Luiz into that and it's game over. The shower drains will be completely clothes up with gel/ wax, Nivea cream and hair.

Our transfer committee need to show some mercy to the cleaners, and to the fans. We all deserve better than Luiz!

20 Dec 2017 10:10:32
Why is there such negative response to this rumour?
Surely Luiz would be a better option than Lovren and Klavan.
I would understand the frustration if it were an alternative to VVD but if he were along side I can only see it as a positive upgrade to our defence.

Agree3 Disagree8

{Ed002's Note - David Luiz won't be moving to Liverpool.}

20 Dec 2017 11:08:21
By that reasoning are you suggesting we re-sign Skrtel Adam? 😂.

Agree1 Disagree1

20 Dec 2017 11:55:14
Skrtel's was shiny. I'm sure there was some oil put on it. It will be a much more nightmare for the cleaners.
