Hi eds
How do you see the transfer market panning out this season with covid 19 going around? Will there be caution in the market with this or cancelled entirely until it clears?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - It appears now it will be slimmer than it was - those who need to sell will, at the higher levels clubs can buy, those with players coming through will be OK.}

Ed’s not strictly Lfc related, I can post on City/ European pages if more appropriate.

I see David Silva beconing free agent this summer. speculation on social media he’ll return to Valencia etc.

My question being, would he be a player capable of still playing in premiership for a top 6 team?

Immense player, shame we didn’t get him over the line back when Rafa was manager.

{Ed002's Note - I would mot expect him to tign for Liverpool.}

Hi, I know one of the eds has previously said that we've been watching Tsyhankov( D Kyiv ) but I was wondering if there's any known interest in their left back Mykolenko? I feel like he'd be a good Robertson back up.
Also read we've been looking at Jonathan David of Gent, is there any truth in this? Thanks.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - There has been no interest from any English sides in Vitaliy Mykolenko as a Work Permit would be unlikely but Marseille are in need of a LB and have spoken with his club - although they are needing to resolve some financial issues before making any offer. They would not have any Work Permit issues, nor would Inter Milan and Milan who both made approaches last summer but the player had no interest in moving.

Jonathan David (AM/S/W) Gent youngster who has attracted plenty of scouts to watch him this season including those representing Wolves, Bayern Munich, Aston Villa, Southampton, Spurs, Liverpool, Chelsea, Borussia Dortmund, Lyon, RBS, Lille, Everton, RBL, Arsenal, Leicester and Lazio. Lyon are looking for a replacement for Moussa Dembele and RBL who are looking for a replacement for Timo Werner have both spoken with Genk who are open to the Canadian leaving at the right price. At the start of the season Napoli and Brighton attended matches to watch Roman Yaremchuk but were apparenty were also impressed by the performance and versatility of David. The player has said he would be open to a move to Germany or England but Germany is the preferred destination and a decent offer from Bayern Munich would be welcomed. The player has said he would be open to a move to Germany or England.

Liverpool watched him on a couple of occasions.}

Ed’s,

So as you said RBL are looking at a timo replacement? Do you see you Werner in Liverpool sights and what he join?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Well Liverpool have made an illegal approach and as far as RBL are concerned to Bild that Klopp will meet directly with the player. If they don’t it will simply be another player Klopp and Liverpool have tried to destroy the career of. It is simply awful that Liverpool continue this awful behaviour.}

20 Apr 2020 18:45:55
Just hope we have approached RBL first then Ed if this is the case and do things correctly.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, Liverpool have not approached RBL - I have explained that.

20 Apr 2020 20:59:06
Ok well I hope we do pay what RBL ask if it comes to it and the player doesn’t go on strike with the whole thing getting messy.

I thought we didn't have an interest in him and klopp had just stated that he was a very good player. Not actually tapping him up by speaking directly to him.

If this is true then its absolutely disgraceful from Klopp. Yes he is a fantastic manager but to continuously drag the club through the dirt is bang out of order and needs dealing with.

What number is he up to now, is it 3 or 4?

Klopp is definitely interested and the thought is Andy that Klopp indeed has spoken with TW over phone at some point, which has turned the players head and performances dropped off in his last few games played, also he started being vocal on his desire to join and his club RBL had to warm him. RBL are very annoyed with the player. This without contact with the club first.

Klopp has got in the players head and we should do the right thing in paying what RBL are asking and not leave the player and club on a mess having potentially tapped the player up.

There is no right thing to do in this scenario as we’ve already done the wrong thing. Absolute joke of we’ve done this again. Many fans won’t care sadly as long as we get our man.

I agree with you Shaq, it’s wring the way we sometimes go about our business. I do hope he arrives at our place though as he is quality.

Hi Ed's, been a very long while! Lock down here in NZ has given me a bit of time to catch up. Ed002, I read an interview recently with De Ligt of Juventus were he stated that Ronaldo convinced him to join when Portugal played the Netherlands. I also see Souness making noise about United possibly making an illegal approach to Sancho. My question is, does something like the a Ronaldo incident qualify as an illegal approach and if so, what steps can be taken to try and correct behavior like that, it almost seems impossible? Is it merely a case of whoever is responsible to make a severe example of a club or individual like Klopp to try and eradicate it?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, And I have dealt with this on many occasions.}

It is rather alarming we continue to do business in such a risky way. It seems either brazen or arrogant.

It wouldn't be surprising if we one day received a punishment for such exploits.

Hey Ed002, if you have the inclination I'd like to hear your insight on Liverpool's ongoing problem with illegal approaches.
I read an article somewhere this week (might have been a deconstruct on Sakho's departure) praising the way Klopp has built a team ethic with no players feeling they have a greater status than others within the unit. It went on about Klopp's methods before signing a player and the fact he'd speak to several of the player's part coaches and would put character, motivation and stuff like humility foremost. And then interview the player personally to get an idea of if they would fit. Could this approach be contributing or becoming the Tapping Up problem. If Klopp is trying to get to know a player before trying to sign them the player is obviously going to have questions for him also about roles, plans etc.
Is this the problem or is it more institutional in your observations and opinions?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Klopp cannot approach a player without the permission of his club. Ethics is hardly an issue - Klopp had van Dijk go on strike for 6 months taking away any credibility he and the player had. This has been done to death.}

Always found tapping up a strange area ferguson used to do it and never was mentioned as it was wrong!

Now not saying I agree with it but I am sure it happens with most high profile managers/ players.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is not a strange area at all - it is embarrassing watching you make an idiot of yourself trying to distract from Liverpool.}

22 Apr 2020 18:12:25
I really don't see why an illegal approach was needed. Surely Klopp should have just got RBL's approval first, saying that whatever the outcome of the conversations, Liverpool would be paying the minimum fee clause.

Is that how it works, or do Liverpool first need to bid the minimum fee clause before getting an opinion of the player's motivation, personality and character?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - What minimum fee clause is that?

23 Apr 2020 05:59:45
Epic potato, Ed002 has mentioned on numerous occasions that release clauses are only applicable to clubs within the same association. So IF Werner has a release clause only clubs in the bundesliga could activate it. IF the clause was say €40m the Bayern could bid that and it would have to be accepted. Liverpool could bid £100m and RBL would be within their rights to refuse it.

Buyout clauses are different and involve a player himself paying a fee to essentially cancel his contract. Clubs would then have to pay the player that amount of money and when taxes etc are factored in the entire thing becomes absurdly expensive and complicated

Overall ignore any ‘release clauses’ in future as they never have anything to do with PL clubs.
