Assaidi is expected at Stoke for a medical in the near future. Likely to be a loan deal with all wages paid and a £1m loan fee.

Borini deal to QPR is off. ssn and bbc both reporting this. He really needs to move to play games and further his career.

Borini is just a idiot . he needs to realise staying at Liverpool would be a step back and would be nowhere near premier league action and a Italy call up! HE HAS BEEN NOWHERE NEAR GOOD ENOUGH(I HAVE NO SYMPATHY)

Agree4 Disagree7

Greedy bloke hope he's happy in reserves

Agree5 Disagree8

Apparently he was asking QPR for 90 grand a week! . shocking.

Agree4 Disagree2

I have to say that he never went because of a reason, people forget when he was injured and then loaned out he was told that he had a future at Liverpool (FACT) the blame can't just be blamed on him. He has said he wants to play for Liverpool yes I agree he is not good enough for us but you have to see both sides of the coin, I personally think he is scared that this is his last chance and he doesn't want to lose it. if you play football and Liverpool signed you would you?

Agree5 Disagree2

All I know about Borini is that he hurts a shoulder if he falls over.

Agree2 Disagree2

Never good enough for us, made of chocolate. Why he thinks he can win a place is beyond me, deluded as well as technically rubbish

Agree3 Disagree2

Best fans in the world. pah!

Agree2 Disagree2

Am I the only one around here who is glad he didn't go as it would only have left us with Sturridge and Mario. I feel he will have a role to play and should get another shot to prove himself.

{Ed002's Note - And Lambert.}

We don't know the FULL story.
Deserves a crack, albeit in the cup games. Scored for Sunderland and in some big games too.

Hello Eds,

Any chance of Lucas moving to Galatasaray/Napoli tonight?

Believable2 Unbelievable12

{Ed001's Note - it is not out of the question, but it is highly unlikely now, the deal has been left so late.}

01 Sep 2014 18:10:08
Hi Eds. Rumour in the papers saying we may bid for Ayew? Is this true? Seems surprising to me. Thanks.

Believable4 Unbelievable11

{Ed001's Note - not that I am aware of.}

01 Sep 2014 15:53:27
ssn say QPR bid £10 million for Fabio Borini.

Believable33 Unbelievable10

Thats just bizarre, didn't see that coming.
Either stay at Liverpool and fight for a place, or go to Sunderland where the fans love you.

Why in gods name would he go to QPR?

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is because they have not gotten an answer from Andre Ayew.}

If you ask me its all money with borini!

Agree3 Disagree3

GBP 12mm I believe was the number.

James Chester absent from training today, rumours he's signing for Liverpool. Anybody got any info on this?

Thanks!

Why would we sign another centre back? We have 4 already. Also not sure he is good enough even if we did need a centre back.

Agree0 Disagree0

Yeah I thought it sounded strange we'd sign a backup CB considering the young ones we have and the ones who left on loan. Decent lad but not for LFC, glad it's not true. Phew!

just throwing it out there eds, but any idea where ben arfa is heading? they says he turned down besiktas and birmingham, and wants to stay in the prem? but where? I liked he's play couple of years ago, but doesn't played anymore, be it his attitude or whatever, but on the pitch I used to enjoy watching him, cheers

Believable2 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - There was an interested club but he was priced out of a move there. Offers of loans will likely fall on deaf ears. Maybe something will happen with him later but it won't involve Liverpool.}

We have Markovic and Lallana still to come for the wide area's, Suso as well, Coutinho in the middle, we are set for attackers.

To quote Simon Yeend in today's Express. "Liverpool have lined up a move for Victor Valdes the former Barcelona goalkeeper!" He then goes on to write. "To leave Simon Mignolet FIGHTING FOR HIS ANFIELD FUTURE!" Is this person for real? Valdes will be 33 at the start of 2015 and is currently out of action with a cruciate knee ligament injury. So we will sign an unfit keeper and ditch Mignolet to leave our options Brad [ Fumblefingers ] Jones and Valdes? I hear more sense on this website than from the Express so PLEASE tell me we aren't looking at an injured "experienced" and over the hill keeper who is a free agent now!

Believable3 Unbelievable6

{Ed002's Note - You are completely correct Plank. A deal for Romero seemed to be in hand a couple of days ago and could well be announced later today or tomorrow. It makes little sense to me, but there you go.}

According to Tony Barrett at The Times - Rodgers is willing to wait for Valdes to prove his fitness (November).

Presumably we would then hang on to Ward until then before a much needed loan into the Football League. (Giving us the same 3 GK as last year)

But it seems like a gamble and I'd rather sign Romero now.

Agree0 Disagree0

Please let this rumour be nothing but nonsense. It would perhaps be the worst move I can remember!

Agree0 Disagree1

Yeah I don't see what the difference would be between keeping Reina and signing Valdes, would seem to present much the same issues as we had with Reina

Agree1 Disagree1

Victor Valdes is a top top keeper, you don't be No1 keeper for Barca for the past 8 years. He is 33, but keepers are a their prime around this age. Yes he has an injury, but so did Falcao and others. He will be back fit, his kicking and passing is better than Migs, his awareness on crosses is better, he doesn't flap as much as Migs or Reina.

He will provide competition and will be much more confident in the Champions league matches, which Migs has no eperience of. In Brendan we trust!

Agree0 Disagree0

Valdez is nowhere near a top keeper, he's got no presence, doesn't command his area, has awful handling and gets beaten too easily. Hope we avoid like the plague. As for being Barca's keeper for so long, look at it like this, that Barca team were so good that Taibi could have played for them and looked good, Valdez got found out as Barca hit the decline.

Edd002, can I ask a question my good friend ;). Falcoa( fantastic striker) will sign for united. Obviously without figures, would falcoa had he joined Chelsea or Liverpool just aa examples signed on the same terms? a lot of journos previously stated falcoa was way too expensive( large loan fee and wages) does that apply to the United move?

Believable18 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - Falcao was offered to four English sides after it became clear his preferred move to Real Madrid would not be possible. In summary:

Last Wednesday in Monaco the club put a price on Falcao for a sale - with the expectation that Real Madrid (where he wishes to move to) would pay it. Real Madrid were concerned that at his age the asking price was far too high as were the wages. There were also discussions with Juventus and with Valencia. There have been approaches made to four English clubs - Arsenal, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City. The situation as I understand it this morning is that:
- Chelsea saw him as way too expensive a package and went for Remy as their first choice (Destro) was not possible.
- Arsenal considered his age, his price, the possibility of a loan price and his wages and whilst they would like the player, seem to be trying to tie up the permanent transfer of another player instead.
- Manchester City were not interested in buying him at the offered price but would have consider a loan to buy - but there have a major concern over his knee and they want a clause which will drastically reduce his wages and the loan fee should it turn out to be a problem.
- Manchester United were interested but again the price and wages are an issue. On Wednesday Manchester United used a third party in discussions and I understand that third party was again involved last night in trying to broker a deal that might be acceptable. I suggested earlier that if the club want a deal done today then they will likely need to concede most of the financial negotiations - and that is what they have likely done. Subject to a medical I would expect this to go through.

The real killer here is the wages and the ad ons and the payment to certain agents, leeches, representatives and super agents - and a commitment to buy in the future (there will be a get out clause). I cannot see that Arsenal, Chelsea, Juventus or Liverpool would get involved with him at that level financially.}

Ed what a answer f##k me that's impressive stuff!!

Agree3 Disagree0

Luke whos this player Arsenal are looking at on a permanent deal?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Bacca but it is unlikely to happen as Sevilla say it is too late to replace him.}

01 Sep 2014 14:07:17
Cheers for the info Ed

Do you know whether the transfer to Utd would be a loan, permanent or loand with an option/obligation to buy?

Appreciate all the hard work, bet you can't wait for the window to shut

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It will be a loan with a commitment to buy subject to x, y and z.}

Great answer to Big Al's question. Thanks ed2.

Agree0 Disagree0

Thanks for the detailed response ed, nice to be reminded that you're actually in the know and not just guessing.

Agree0 Disagree0

Hi Ed, great information there. Falcao is world class but Monaco seems to be desperately pushing him to every big clubs, and Manchester United seems to be desperate enough to take him on loan with a mandatory buy-in deal.

Is Monaco pushing this deal through because of financial or medical reasons?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Neither, he wants out and his agent is facilitating it. Nothing more.}

Have to admit i'd have serious reservations on a striker after that kind of injury and the doubts on his age.

Agree0 Disagree0

Edd002 thanks for your time and info on that reply mate

Fantastic detailed explanation that gives us an insight to the workings of a transfer.
Thank you and good luck the rest of the window.

Assaidi to stoke on today, will be a 1 year loan

Believable31 Unbelievable7

Why is Assaidi being greedy he isn't even getting £70kpw at Liverpool yet he won't join stoke on a permanent deal.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is critical the club shifts some out today, Coates is all but done I understand, but these loans means the headache shifts to next year as these are players the club wishes to sell not loan.}

31 Aug 2014 22:46:36
Eds, if a keeper is the outstanding signing what about Cech, is he gone from Chelsea or is he an option.
Lots on here stating that in the end the player makes the decision not the club so why not make him a offer and see what happens

Believable4 Unbelievable4

{Ed002's Note - That would be tapping up of course. Liverpool would need to speak with Chelsea, not Petr Cech.}

31 Aug 2014 22:06:32
Ed, do you see these as the likely destination, if any for the following players.
Borini-Inter
Lucas-Napoli
Coates- Sunderland

Have you heard anything recent on Assaidi or Suso.

Also is there a relatively good chance that Romero will arrive at Liverpool tomorrow.

Thanks in advance
Ollivander

Believable2 Unbelievable3

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool will be looking to move players out today - sales are just possible, loans more likely, released from contract is possible as well. The whole Assaidi situation has dragged on and his wage demands fouled up a move to Stoke after Liverpool dropped the asking price. Borini and Coates could both end up at Sunderland - and potentially both on loan. Coates turned down a move to Italy whilst that is what Borini wants. If Lucas were to go today, Turkey might be the best option. Suso should have gotten his wish to join Porto. Certainly I would expect news of players moving on today.}

01 Sep 2014 08:34:24
Thanks ed for your reply
Ollivander

Agree0 Disagree0

Eds, I'm sure I heard somewhere that Sunderland wouldn't get both Borini and Coates on loan as you're not allowed to loan 2 players from the same club? Is this correct?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - There are exceptions that can be made. If one is a loan with an agreement to buy at the end.}

Arh ok, thanks for the response :-)
