Daka signing seems to be gathering pace. I really hope this one gets across the line quickly as this lad looks very good. Konate, Daka and a midfielder would be a class window.

Id be over the moon is we signed Daka, he looks like a boss.

{Ed025's Note - but can he play a guitar with his feet?.. :)

You're probably thinking of Tiki and Taka, the rhythm pedtarists.

The good news is that Zambia didn't qualify for the AFCON finals so if he did sign, we'd have Jota, Firmino and Daka available in January.

If he signs though Origi and Minamino's Liverpool careers are surely over. Hopefully Elliott replaces Shaqiri.

I've never actually seen Daka play, but the last RBS striker to leave the club didn't do too bad šŸ‘€.

I feel Minamino hasn't been given a fair shot. If like him to stay and we bring in Daka and maybe Elliot unless we can get him to a decent prem side next season.

Yea heard it could be cala from across, names a nightmare to spell. On a free. Looks decent. Only ever seen his free kicks and long shots but looks a bit of alright and at 27 could have a few good years and not completely block the path for curtis. Whereas a Bellingham would.

I don't think we'll sign Daka unless one of the front 3 leaves. We already have 4 players who want to play every game and are very unhappy when they don't. Imagine that being 5 who want to play every game.
He looks like an excellent prospect but do we want to upset the squad harmony?

I did go to a catholic school šŸ˜¢.

02 Jun 2021 09:14:49
Brommers, Daka is EXACTLY the sort of player I can see joining if one of the front 3 DON'T leave. Young, inexperienced in the league but with (seemingly) great attributes and he sounds like he will cost about 25-30% LESS than we got for Brewster last year. I'm sure he would be happy with bench and/ or U-23 appearances to start off with whilst he is integrated into the team and the league and he is then ready to have more of a role once the front 3 do start being disbanded. Remember they are all 28/ 29 and won't stay forever.

Agree4 Disagree0

02 Jun 2021 09:23:46
Zeddicus, good point. I was thinking short term but you thinking more mid-long term. It also allows us to sell a front player at the end of the season without too much grief.

KingKlopp96. Bellingham and Jones play in two
Different positions so slim to no chance of him blocking the path for Curtis. In any case Iā€™m excited to see what the future holds for Jones as he has a lot of potential. Bellingham on the other hand will become one of the best in the world in his position, if he continues to knuckle down and work hard. The lad is a generational talent and if we had any chance of signing him in the next few years I would take it without any hesitation.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2021 17:54:58
Bellingham doesn't play on the left of a front 3?

My point is Henderson and fabinho start so the next player is next to them. If we signed bellingham then that's Jones in gone.

We wouldn't have a midfield of jones bellingham and fabinho.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Bellingham won't be signing.}

Saw it reported in The Athletic. I think we can now confirm that The Athletic is absolute dross and we should never pay attention to anything they report ever again.

01 Jun 2021 19:43:05
Rufusthered, The Athletic is actually banned on the Liverpool subreddit, along with you know the one and Daily Mail so your opinion is already well shared.

Agree0 Disagree0

01 Jun 2021 20:18:42
IronDan it's the way they've managed to brainwash their readers into thinking their journos are ITK and reliable to justify a subscription fee that gets me. Daylight robbery.

Agree2 Disagree0

01 Jun 2021 23:19:03
I donā€™t know anything about the Liverpool subreddit but a quick glance at their banned sources and the Athletic is not one of them, so you appear to be lying IronDan.

People donā€™t read the Athletic because they haveā€™ITKā€™ writers, they read it because itā€™s the best place to get in depth football analysis that takes longer than 2 minutes to read.

You guys are probably better off sticking to Twitter anyway.

Agree2 Disagree0

02 Jun 2021 00:34:01
And who's doing that analysis Thunderbird? James Pearce? The guy has no more footballing knowledge than anyone else on this site. He just gets paid to write about what everyone else talks about in the pub.

An example. For months he was writing how what Firmino did other than score goals which was why he was so good (I agree Firmino's creative and pressing work is key for us by the way and it is a popular opinion of many fans) . However almost instantaneously he changed his position and was writing how Firmino's been poor for a long time and we need to replace him with a new striker. You can guarantee if Firmino picks up a bit of form next season, Pearce is going to write how it was inevitable and how he always knew Firmino would come through again. He's a complete joke.

As for his transfer target analysis, he basically picks a few random names from around Europe for positions he thinks we need to buy. He then compares their xG stats and writes a paragraph or two about each one. Anyone can do that.

What I have read from the other journalists on the site is much of the same. Their in-depth analysis is not based on any kind of expertise in football. None of them have worked in football coaching, recruitment, scouting or analysis. With a The Athletic subscription, all you are paying for is fans with journalism qualifications to write about their take on things as well as clickbait bogus articles.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - To be fair the Athletic broke the Konate to Liverpool story before anyone else but granted most of the time they donā€™t have their ears to the ground and piggy back on other news outlets for exclusives and arenā€™t usually ones to break stories. As for a Pearce I agree I donā€™t think heā€™s been an ITK for a long while even before he left the Echo. What the Athletic do well are interesting lengthy articles on a variety of sports which are engaging reading. I especially like their Boxing, MMA and soccer articles. Oh and they do good question and answer pieces with their journos

02 Jun 2021 01:13:02
I'll give them that ed. It's good subscribers get the opportunity to ask the journos something they particularly want to know.

I have only really read them from a football perspective so I don't know how good their intel is on other sports. I know they are an American site so I guess they might have their ear to the ground on what's going on in those sports they established themselves in. They have only been covering football for a couple of years.

Yeah James Pearce is definitely practising if you can't make it, fake it. By that I mean he wants people to think he's a lot more in the loop than he actually is. I remember a few years ago he wrote some article about Lucas potentially leaving and Lucas called him out on it.

Agree2 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I actually enjoy the articles in the athletic as I do lots of publications/websites and periodicals. Itā€™s good to have a varied perspective I think. Yeh Pearce is not even getting any exclusives I just think heā€™s regarded by his peers because he is a senior hack not that heā€™s especially great but I could be wrong as I donā€™t read his work as itā€™s not interesting to me but he may have improved?

02 Jun 2021 05:05:24
Iā€™m sensing that James Pearce may have slept with rufusthereds wife.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2021 05:14:03
I know you've defended him before Thunderbird. I just don't know why you think the sun shines out of him because he is a fraud. It annoys me how he acts like he is privy to what's going on behind the scenes when he clearly doesn't.

Agree1 Disagree0

02 Jun 2021 05:54:10
I was just talking about The Athletic rufus, which I think is the best sports outlet available, you are the one obsessed with James Pearce.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - I'm hurt! :-P

02 Jun 2021 08:11:30
Not really. James Pearce is the main Liverpool reporter for The Athletic so, as we're on a Liverpool page, it's completely relevant. If you want to waste your money on that, it's up to you.

I know that Carra and Owen were Everton fans in their youth. Was Gerrard, or has he always been a red?

Agree0 Disagree0

02 Jun 2021 09:42:23
Always a red Zeddicus although apparently an aunt or uncle dressed him in an Everton kit as a kid and took a picture of him when they won the league.

Agree3 Disagree0

02 Jun 2021 14:58:16
Sports reporting is full of transactional relationships. James Pearce does a lot of good work and gets a lot of great scoops, but the trade off is that he also often gets fed nonsense purposely by his sources, as the club also uses him as an extension of their PR department. I'd love to know if he believes that's actually going on, and if he cares.

while we are at it for transfers, can anyone update when will we sign any of the following players?

- Pablo Aimar
- SimĆ£o Sabrosa
- Dani Alves
- David Villa
- Joaquƭn SƔnchez

Also, any others that we have been waiting for the transfer finally be completed after the long wait?

{Ed0666's Note - I think Simao is still on the plane ready to take off no?

01 Jun 2021 16:14:49
sadly that seems to be as far as he got
was it issues with the plane, pilot, airport or stewardess?
or that he had issues with flying?

i really think travel restrictions shouldn't be used as an excuse given how long we've waited for him.

{Ed0666's Note - donā€™t worry heā€™ll sign the pilots just a bit late. Maybe he should have used the babbel-copter!

Interesting one this, hearing around norwich that they hold interest in two lfc players: Harry Wilson and Naby Keita, although completely dependant on whether key figures leave. Origi rumours to NCFC are rubbish, he is not viewed to fit the business model.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed0666's Note - Wilson I can see going there but could they afford Nabys wages I highly doubt it.

01 Jun 2021 14:38:26
Hi ed, hope you're well and enjoying the sun mate.

Three part question here; firstly do you know what the club's plans are for minamino? Personally I wouldn't mind him staying and being given a chance but perhaps the club need the money.

Secondly what do the club think is his best position? I Think he's played wide forward, played the firmino role and I think played in the midfield this season as well.

Lastly there are lots of reports about Patson Daka going around, would minamino be a possible trade option in any such deal?

Cheers man šŸ‘.

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - (1) Takumi Minamino (AM) will be available. Sevilla are keen to take Minamino to replace Vazquez but would want a loan to buy. Southanpton are keen to keep him but again it may well be a loan to buy they are looking for. (2) AM or LW I would think. (3) No.}

01 Jun 2021 17:04:30
Like Takumi as a player a lot, seems to be a good guy also, but watching him play, can't help but to think of Henrikh Mkhitaryan at Dortmund with Klopp, you think the style and personality should be perfect for each other but it just doesn't click. I think Harvey Elliot should get Minamino's and Shaqiri's minutes.

Pity that it hasn't worked out for him, hopefully we can get back what we paid and he can revive his career with first team football elsewhere.
