Shane Long is due to meet LFC on Thursday to discuss a potential move to Anfield. West Brom want to move him on and use the money to sign Lakaku on a permanent deal. £9 million plus add ons.

Chelsea won't sell Lukaku

If chelsea were selling lukaku id rather have him than long as he looks to have really bright future

Lukaku would cost more than that. "Try 20 odd mill Chelsea paid about that, why would they take less

Why we would we buy west broms second best striker

Why dont we offer chelsea another £9m and buy Lukaku.

Long oly plays down the middle. He isn't better than Suarez

Ed2, sorry if this been asked, tried search and couldn't find it. How long is Sturridge out for?

Kosovo Joe {Ed002's Note - Sturridge is not out. He has been training recently.}

Has he been training with us?

Everyone has a lot of love for Coates but he's too slow in my opinion and looks like he's going to concede a penalty every time he plays

Why are we seemingly happy to release Coates when he is both highly rated and we only signed him a year ago on a long term contract, he is only 22, and he is a regular in the Uraguayan squad? Does he want out? I have asked around but no-one seems to know. RED LENIN {Ed002's Note - I don't think it has worked out that well and I suspect he will want to be playing more regularly. Obviously, if he were to leave then he would need to be replaced.}

Does that mean we won't receive a fee for him? {Ed001's Note - no, it would be a sale, not a free, if he left.}

That will be a waste of money as we will pay more for a replacement ans he will be sitting on the bench too. What type of message will that send to other promising south american players? Coates came because of suarez. He was voted as one of the best defender during the south american tournament and all we could offer was a place on the bench. How will he feel seeing carriages given more chances than him. Is it what we call building for the future?
K

I was expected a lot from Coates when he signed. Classed as the best young defender in South America and just won an international cup with Uruguay playing regularly in the heart of their defence. However, I for one have been extremely disappointed with his performances when he has played. He seems very lethargic for a 22 year old. He has made some silly mistakes in matches which have cost us a couple of times. Despite his height, he doesn't seem to be dominant in the air. I know he's 22 and would love for him to come good but I think the Premier League is 2 paces in front of him sadly. I think he would be more suited to the Italian league.

Am I the only one besides you who is upset about this? I feel that Coates could be a very good CB for us, for his height he's surprisingly agile and also with consistent games I think he would grow into a constant next to Agger in our starting 11.

phillyred

Would hate to see him leave. you need to keep ut young players, look a smalling at utd...

Ed, whats he worth?

Lee73 {Ed001's Note - impossible to say, it will depend on what fee a buyer is willing to go up to.}

Well if we get him off the payroll it'll free up money to give super Jamie a contract extention and he can earn 100k a week for 3 minute cameos, shout ' out ! out ! ' at the kids, chip away at Cally's appearance record and sell limited edition signed prints of the ball bouncing off his arse for £100 a pop on his website. But no mans bigger then the club , right ?

Coates seems to slow for the PL & for Rodgers system. More old school which is why KK liked him. Obviously the kid has some talent but BR is looking for more Agger types at the back.

eds, when do you expect the signing of daniel sturridge to be announced?
YNWA {Ed002's Note - When the transfer has completed with all of the paperwork processed and international clearance obtained. I suspect the club would like to introduce him on to the pitch before the game tomorrow. There will be a concern about the tips of his crutches damaging the grass.}

Crutches ed02? He still injured?

I'm sorry Ed002 - but should you be looking at his crutch?
DM2013

Crutches?!? Joke?

Is he injured then if he's pn crutches

Aye, if the tip of his crutch is going to make a mess of the turf he's going to have a few female admirers!

If the tip between his crutch touches the floor then itts an extra leg to score with lol

I think that was a joke.

Hey eds, could you provide a list of players that you believe, truly, are transfer targets for lfc during this transfer window? {Ed002's Note - Sturridge, Ince plus someone on loan.}

01 Jan 2013 21:28:59
Hey Eds, heard something in the wind about Alexis Sanchez.

Have we looked at the player before? {Ed002's Note - It is likely that Sanchez will move to Juventus in the summer.}

Ed with all the corruption involved in the Italian league, would we not represent a better move to him?

Admittedly we probably won't have CL next season but still surely still an attraction to Sanchez given our style of play etc.

Jonesred {Ed002's Note - He has spent much of his professional career in Italy, it won't be a problem. Attempts to buy Sanchez in the summer were met by a 40M euro asking price although I suspect 30M will be nearer to what will be paid next summer for him. Juventus have very clear targets and a significant budget to buy a player to play off their main striker. They have identified three possible players - Sanchez is one, and perhaps the most likely one.}

If he does go there in the summer, would Juventus still have serious interest in Suarez?

It also seems likely that they're going to get Llorente as well. So assuming that they get both players, that would leave them with 4 solid options for strikers, with Giovinco and Quagliarella already there. {Ed002's Note - I think their interest in Suarez will drop if they get two forwards in.}

That's some great news then!

I know that Suarez will probably leave sometime in the future if we don't get CL, but what other teams have real interest in Suarez right now Ed?

Because it seems like Juventus was one the few teams that was realistic and could seriously tempt Suarez leave. (I'm excluding teams like Real Madrid, PSG, and City because I feel like they have a bit of a logjam at strikers or have interests in others players, but feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about that.)

Anyways thanks in advance {Ed002's Note - PSG and Juventus remain interested.}

Hi eds.
I was wondering if you have any info on Southampton as a club to do business with? As in the summer I see Shaw and Ramirez as players to look at if they are relegated, but I have an inclination that they are difficult to deal with, am I right?
Thanks in advance
Puzzled Red {Ed002's Note - There is interest from Shaw but none we know of from Liverpool. If Liverpool had any interest in Ramirez perhaps they should have moved for him in the summer - but they didn't.}

Hi Puzzled Red,

Saints are not difficult to do business with if they want to sell, or need to sell. But when they have already said players are not for sale and they are ignored they will become impossible! You may want Ramirez, Shaw, Lambert and Lallana (have I missed anyone?) but they are just not for sale in January. Adkins has said today that any interest would have to go through Cortese and his comment of "good luck with that!" just about sums it up. Saints will be looking to strengthen in January, not weaken their squad, and that might mean Butland and Ince pass you by (as did Ramirez).

It may surprise you, but Saints are actually financially better off than Liverpool so there is no need to cash in.

Please re-read the post anonymous poster. I clearly specify the summer and if saints were to go down, I am in no way having a dig at the club as the tenor of your reply suggests.
Puzzled Red

Said it before and saying it again fingers crossed they get relegated and we can sign Ramirez. No idea (other than financially) why we didn't go for him in the summer as he is quality

Daniellambretta {Ed002's Note - There ws no interest in signing him which was explained ad nauseum all summer.}

01 Jan 2013 21:12:51
hi eds. just thinking if we get gameiro on loan would sturridge be playing alongside suarez. personally i dont rate sturridge as a forward because he isnt exactly a brilliant finisher. gamerio i think will do a decent job alongside suarez. i think what liverpool are missing is xabi alonso. they should go for him this month. he has an awesome eye and his passing is unbelievable. or maybe benat from what i have seen of him at betis he is very similar t alonso's style of play. u doing great thanks a alot :) {Ed002's Note - I don't know that Gameiro will be arriving on loan. Alonso has been dealt with plenty of times. If Benat moves in January then Atletico Madrid might by an option. CSKA, Arsenal and Wolfsburg have shown some interest in him. Txiki Begiristain has, as reported, an interest in taking him to Manchester City. It is beginning to look like the summer woul be more likely.}

We play 4-3-3. There won't be one person alongside Suarez. There will be three people across a front line constantly changing places with each other.

I think recent matches have shown Liverpool are adaptable, in formations, we have played 5311 4231 as well as 433. For me we would suit a 4231 better.Especially with the purchase in sturridge and maybe another striker coming in.
This would allow sturridge to play centre forward or striker, both main central roles.
Suarez would go left, where he plays at his best cutting in I imagine the other player will likely be hoarau. IF the ince deal gets done he will play on the right, maybe sterling there too. This would give us a chance to utilise the youngsters like suso and sterling less and let them rest.

Benat. isnt this guy a defensive midfielder. i was always led to believe he was an anchor type midfielder. also alonso isnt missed he was 3 years ago but times have moved on from alonso. his a great player but lfc have proved over the past two seasons creating chances isnt a problem its scoring the chances. another centre midfielder at this stage would be a silly move when we need strikers and maybe a defender.

01 Jan 2013 21:12:44
Hi eds hope everyones well! Ive looked at the posts but do you mind giving me a straight answer is this Gameiro rumer true? Does it have any legs just because I've watched him play a few times an he would certainly improve our strike force. Thanks {Ed002's Note - There has been long term interest in PSG's Kevin Gameiro from Lille and Dortmund; Everton and Kuban Krasnodar are showing interest in the player but Everton could only likely fund a loan. A move in the summer seems more likely than January.}

My mate is Lambert's agent and he knows I love Liverpool and would have had a wink if there was anything happening. I have not seen or heard anything; this rumour is as bad as your spelling.

Eds, can you give me a list of players liverpool have an option to sign. Thanks alot and replies would help {Ed002's Note - I am not sure what you mean about "option"?}

Behave , really as if southampton would sell him at this time. If we stay up however come and get him Mr rogers as we will move on quickly

01 Jan 2013 20:12:29
Hi Eds,

Can you shed some light on the situation with Reina? Do you think he will leave us within the next year and who do you think is the best keeper we could potentially sign?

I personally think Begovic but if he does sign i hope he has the class the make his current form permanent.

Started following this site 2 years ago, does this make it our anniversary? lol Cheers Eds and a Happy New Year!

RedChris {Ed002's Note - I don't know of any immediate plan to sell Reina, after that would be no more than speculation.}

01 Jan 2013 19:15:42
Eds, any interest in Vydra? looks useful. {Ed002's Note - He is on a season long loan.}

He plays for Watford come on

01 Jan 2013 19:21:49
hi EDs,
could you perhaps shed some light on something that has been on my mind consistently since the rumour has been spread, david villa transferring to lfc

i acknowledged that Barcelona have turned down a bright opportunity for the striker and also lfc the fact of him arriving only on loan.

however i am not sure whether Rodgers is keen on meeting the demands of barcelona as we know they require 16million

perhaps he aswell as lfc have dropped their interest in the star striker and maybe searching else where for players such as gameiro who is evidently a quality striker.

i and along with many other lfc fans im sure will not like to see no-more interest in bringing david villa to anfield

could you perhaps tell me whether you think liverpool would be looking into paying that 16mil or whether it was a firm loan deal only that the reds were looking for

thanks
RMRED97 {Ed002's Note - This was dealt with earlier - as far as we can deal with it.}

A player with David Villa's quality should be snapped up. And Wesley Sneijder - these two playes alone will help us challenge for a top four spot and I am convinced that this will be money well spent. Liverpool need to look at players of this calibre.

He is 30/31 you think fsg are gonna folk out 16 million never mate not gonna happen.

He is worth 16m. Proven goalscorer

01 Jan 2013 18:47:18
Alonso a possible prospect that could be arriving back to anfield yay or nay EDs mate ?
JMRED {Ed002's Note - In the summer if Liverpool wants Alonso, if Real Madrid want to sell him, if he wants to move and Liverpool make an acceptable offer, then perhaps something could be done. I would not hold your breath though.}

I'd always take Alonso back. The problem with ageing players is usually that they lose pace but it's not really a problem for players who were never quick in the first place

Heard a stupid crazy rumour that Javier Pastore is considered being sold by PSG due to his poor form this season and Liverpool are the only ones willing to pay £19m asking fee. You can tell the transfer window is open again..

MartinC

Yes when u get stupit rumours like that

I believe that that 19 mil could be better spent elsewhere

Happy new year to everyone!
Just wondering if there is any interest in mason bennett and will Hughes from derby ? They both look like they have the potential to play at the top level ! {Ed002's Note - I don't know about Bennett but Hughes is attracting interest from several clubs with Fulham likely to be the first to make an offer.}

01 Jan 2013 18:13:36
Eds Is it true liverpool have launced a offer for Danny Graham {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any offer.}

Don't be ridiculous! He's off to a championship club so I've heard

01 Jan 2013 17:35:30
Are we looking at getting another left back if so has there been any interest in luke shaw, hes young and english which rodgers seems to going for, looks like hes got potential ? {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Shaw but I am not aware of any from Liverpool at this time.}

There's lots of interest in Luke Shaw, but as Adkins has said any interest has to be put to Nicola Cortese and comments "good luck with that"! You may not know Adkins sense of humour, but basically that means-"he ain't going nowhere". And don't start the nonsense about every player having a price, because that's not the case if the player does not want to move, the club want him to stay and they have no financial need to sell him. Add to that Saints have an objective of developing 50% of their own first team squad, and you should get the message-look elsewhere!

Not him? Baines?

01 Jan 2013 17:59:32
Are liverpool signing kevin gomeiro {Ed002's Note - I can see why you have been struggling with the search function but not why you have not taken the time to read the other posts.}

HA Ed's you should do stand up!

Holtby to have a medical at spurs on thursday.
Is it true ed's?
Also heard Juventus are also interested in taking Coates on loan.
Kop warrior {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of any imminent medical. Schalke have confirmed that they have made an offer to Lewis Holtby of a new contract but are aware that there will be interest from clubs wishing to speak to the player in January and getting him to agree a deal might be difficult - as is proving to be the case. Aston Villa has added to the previously known interest from Valencia, Spurs, Everton and Arsenal and unconfirmed rumours suggest that both Manchester United and Liverpool may also look to Holtby. Perhaps the most interesting option that he may have is Inter Milan who most definately has an interest after stepping back from any deal for their first choice midfield player. However, Inter are being advised by Di Frisco that Holtby is perhaps two years from being ready for such a move but in my view it remains a possible destination - although they are looking at Belhanda as well. There might be a chance to tempt him to sign a pre-contract in January.

Juventus has been mentioned before as a possible destination for Coates but it seems a little speculative right now. Santos and Palermo have confirmed interest in buying Coates Napoli, Lazio and Sao Paulo are also reportedly interested.}

Again, as a liverpudlian i like to see Coates stay and have carrier at Anfield. the squad doesn't has enough CB

From what I have heard from the family, Mason is aware of top clubs scouting but is happy to progress with derby for a couple of seasons, he is by no means a regular with Derby, but is very highly thought of. Will Hughes, a little older and experienced is also aware of interest, has been turned by the interest in him 3pl clubs & Blackpool. Derby are very keen to keep him for the rest of this and 1 more season.

Hi eds any idea how long Enrique us out for?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - The club has not said. There might be an update on Friday.}

I read a news paper article somewhere that said he could be out for up to six weeks

01 Jan 2013 16:41:36
Eds,
any interest from liverpool on Scott Sinclair?
he's not playing enuf at Citizen.

tqvm. Yanick. {Ed002's Note - No.}

How many teams has Sinclair played for this Season?

If he played for Swansea this season prior to playing the 10 minutes he has for Man City then he'll not be allowed to play for another team until the end of the season/new season start.

2 clubs maximum per a player per a season. {Ed002's Note - He did appear for Swansea.}

Sinclair cannot sign for anyone in January as he's played for 2 clubs in 12 months

There was reported interest from liverpool locally(swansea) before he joined city....but i cant see it now

I want his girlfriend Helen Flanaghan

01 Jan 2013 16:30:18
Hey eds love the page i was just wondering what are the chances of Iker Muniain great left winger and isnt dubbed the Spanish Messi for nothing! great young talent at only 20 so would fit into BR and FSGs transfer policy and would give alot of flair down the left wing that has been lacking for us for such a long time (unless Sterling plays down there) Borini was suppose to add it down there and with injury and all that he hasnt really got his LFC career kicked off but maybe Jose saw something in him we have yet to see but who know 2-5 year later could be a hit for us ay LFC {Ed002's Note - Muniain was touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao last January - and the two clubs in England that were approached were Chelsea and Manchester United. The asking price was 40M euros. They won't get it because I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has had some off field issues. If the price comes down to a reasonable level (20M euros might be an acceptable figure) I can see interest from several English clubs including Manchester United. Lyon, Bayern Munich, Napoli and Roma have sustained interest which is still there but I could not see a cash deal involving Lyon as possible at this time. Rumours abound of Juventus and Palermo interest - but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

Muniain would be nice as the LW with Sturridge and Suarez rotating in game at CF and RW. Suarez is excellent when attacking from right. Sterling can be energy sub for now, learn more and have someone (Iker) challenge him for a spot. Would be nice.

01 Jan 2013 16:26:57
Hi eds, do you think there is any chance in liverpool signing David villa as I hear qpr are the favourites to sign him. Surely if liverpool make a bid he will pick us over qpr no? Your thought please... {Ed002's Note - I have no idea who he would decide on but Liverpool might well need to sell before making an offer to buy Villa. Given he has never wanted to play outside of Spain, is 30+ and no doubt would be on high-wages, I am not so sure it would be a great move by the club.}

If QPR can find the reputed £16 million for him plus his wages then good luck to them and they can have him.I don't care how good he is he's turned 31 and an outlay like that for a 31 year old would be just plain stupid.I also seriously doubt he'd go any where near QPR as a career move.

The plank {Ed052's Note -

01 Jan 2013 17:20:47
Hi Ed02, I really value your opinion on the matter and I'm not disrespecting what you say, but I was just curious, how can signing someone who would stand a great chance of firing us back into the CL be a bad move? Plenty of players are still setting games alight in their late 20s and 30s? Pirlo, Di Natale, Van Persie, Lampard still has goals in him, not to mention players of old like Sherringham, Drogba and Shearer. If his wages are within our structure, we sell a few players and his fee isn't too much, how can a 3 year contract be a bad idea if our chances of CL football is significantly improved? As I said not trying to undermine you, I was just wondering why you said that

Cheers mate {Ed002's Note - It would be a very expensive move for Liverpool to make for a player who would be expensive to buy with no resale value, who would cost a lot in wages, who would be expensive to insure, who has never wanted to play outside of Spain and is in his 30s. There is certainly no guarantee that Villa would be the Messiah that on his own returns Liverpool to the Champions League. It makes more sense if Liverpool has that sort of money available to spend it on someone younger who can score goals and with less risk of injury. I am not so sure that money is available at this time given the commitment to buy Sturridge. I suspect that Liverpool will continue to look for a player on loan or perhaps look to signing someone on a pre-contract for the summer.}

Personally think the money should be spent on a younger player eg Walcott, Erickson, etc some one with a longer future....

U say that but its like van persie 29 y o cost 25milliom but hes going to win them the league and lets not joke about how much villa would improve our team would be hugggeee. Read the john aldridge post on liverpool echo great post. Brendan needs backing and the owners need to realise u need a mixture of youth and world class no matter the age. Van persie being the example. If it is short term then u have to b succesful short term to keep best players as well as building for future. And for the record i dont believe these owners are backing brendan anywere near wnough neither does aldridge {Ed002's Note - Van Persie is not really a great comparator. He is two years younger with extensive experiernce in the EPL who joined a side in Manchester United that had never been placed below third since the EPL started 20 years ago - and had wone the championship 12 times in that period.}

Ed02 is there any players of interest that we will be looking to sign them into a pre contract for the summer?

Thanks {Ed002's Note - I would think Holtby might be one.}

01 Jan 2013 22:13:23
I would have thought though, despite the fact that Villa would have no sell on value, we would have young strikers ready to step up to regular first 11 action in 3 seasons time, therefore we wouldn't need to spend to replace him? Don't want to be a pain, just think its an interesting debate.

Cheers

01 Jan 2013 16:21:26
Hi eds, any news on Coates' future? {Ed002's Note - Santos and Palermo have confirmed interest in buying Coates Napoli, Lazio and Sao Paulo are also reportedly interested.}

Why would we sell him, a very promising young CB, ideal cover with Carra now to slow. Rodgers should be playing him more.
CR

Why sell him hes going to be a class act in a year or so reminds me of hansen so cool on the ball

It would be mad to let Coates go on a sale basis or on loan

He should be starting ahead of agger or skrtel, take your pick. both inconsistent in lot of ways

01 Jan 2013 16:20:37
Hi eds, reckon we'll sign Gamiero on loan? Do you think we'll sign Tom Ince? {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

01 Jan 2013 16:19:21
Hi eds, is it true Liverpool are trying to cancel Sahin's loan deal? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware but he his expressed some disquiet.}

What sort of disquiet? Playing time ? ED?
AJI {Ed002's Note - Position.}

He wants to play Lucas's role. a DM.

Kaizer

01 Jan 2013 15:57:21
Hey eds, what's the situation with Kevin Prince-Boateng? Been reading that he might leave AC Milan. Could we be in with a chance to get him at any stage? {Ed002's Note - I wouldn't hold your breath.}

01 Jan 2013 15:39:36
My take on the liverpool rumours doing the rounds, my thoughts on the player and my percentage chance of the transfer happening-

Wesley Sneijder - Great playmaker who would have a massive impact but this is an absolute no hoper. There will be plenty of interest from Champions League sides including both Manchester Clubs I'm sure and there is no way he will take the neccessary wage cut liverpool will offer to have him on the same wage bill as our top earners Gerrrad and Suarez. Giving Sneijder more than SG and LS will lead to serious unrest and big impact on budget. 0% chance.

David Villa - Unlikely but there does not appear to be a queue of champions league clubs (maybe chelsea) lining up for his signature. Barcelona are clearly looking at offers for the 31 year old who is spending this season coming off the bench. Perhaps a loan deal can be arranged if no better offer comes in before the end of the transfer window but it is my opinion he will remain at Barcelona at least till the end of the season. I do not believe Liverpool will buy the player outright. 5% chance of loan happening. 0% sale to Liverpool.

Kevin Gamiero - It is my belief that Liverpool have interest in this player and that a loan with option to buy can be arranged with PSG who would be willing to let the player leave. I can see something happening here and would be happy if it did. Can certainly score goals. 25% chance.

Sturridge - 95% chance and a great improvement to our team. He has great pace and is a excellent finisher. I also believe he will hit the ground running with the goals. He's that type of player. Very underestimated on this site.

Honda - Great playmaker and finisher. Would love him to come and is quite possibly available for transfer but I doubt Liverpool have seriously continued their interest in the player. I also believe the player himself is wishing for the warmer climates of Spain or Italy. With price and wage demands in liverpool's budgetary constraints I give it a chance but a very slim one. 5%.

Eriksen - Another excellent playmaker. Serious Interest from LFC is there but the kid will have many offers on the table. A move to liverpool in January is 0% for me. I expect he'll at least finish the season with Ajax.

Leandro Damiao - I actually believe this is a player Liverpool would spend big for and have interest in but with the offers the kid may well have on the table. Perhaps just wishful thinking but I give this the bare chance. 1% January move.

Bony - I believe Sturridge will have ended all interest (if there was any) in this player and in my opinion sturridge is a better player. Bony's touch is very poor and he would not get the same amount of goals in the premiership with stronger defenders. Flip the coin I believe Sturridge would be a goal scoring machine in dutch football. 1% chance only because he's affordable should Liverpool show an interest.

Benat - Love the thought of him and Lucas centre midfield. He really is Xabi Alonso-esque. I believe there is interest in this player from Liverpool but this is by no means a priority position. Were a serious offer made I think he may move but realistically I do not see one being made. 1%.

Ince - Very talented youngster who could develop into a real talent. Would fit nicely on the right of a front three with his excellent left peg as rodgers likes players to cut in. Personally i think a move in the summer is a lot more likely but the interest from liverpool is very serious so I give this one 35%.

Butland - I don't think Liverpool will be his first choice. Good young keeper but not in Reina's class just yet. Perhaps a deal where he is loaned back to Birmingham can be arranged but I suspect a move to Southampton beckons. 10% chance.

Hoarau - Interesting one. Would give us something different but my feeling his addition will be for squad purposes. A bid may well be made but my feeling is Hoarau will reject advances in search of first team elsewhere. 10%

Jeffren - Seen this player play a few times. While I cretainly see the attraction in a player like this (technical, low centre of gravity, pacey) I really see him failing at LFC. He is missing something. Perhaps heart, most likely decision making. Perhaps Rodgers can smoothen him out. Loan to buy a possibilty but I think and hope efforts will be made elsewhere. 10%.

Will Hughes - Great one for the future this and interest from liverpool. I definitely think this lad will go all the way. Would be shocked if he leaves Derby in January though. He will surely see how the season goes. 5%.

Walcott - I'm sorry but it is my opinion that most fans have deluded themselves with this one and him being a liverpool fan. I think he has improved massively to become a great player but cannot see him joining us. 5% because we can afford him.

Bernard - I love this player. He is very pleasent on the eye and whips in seriously dangerous balls. He has been scouted on numerous occasions by liverpool in the past and I believe could be the suprise signing if there is to be one in January. It could all be hope but I give this one 10%.

Traore - Hoarau is better value. Enough said. 1% for January.

Isimat-Mirin - Have seen nothing of him but opinions on forums seem high. 10% due to some clear interest from liverpool. Apologies for the lack of opinion here.

De Vrij - God yes. Him and Agger would be a dream for me. Great defender and great on the ball. Interest from Liverpool is there aswell. Can I see him leaving Fyenoord in January. no. 2%.

Ba - 1%. Not worth the massive risk. Richer clubs like Chelsea can afford to take it. Also he clearly wants Champions league and I do not think he will be interested in a move to Liverpool.

Matias Suarez - Can't see a move being made. Again liverpool cannot take a chance with injury prone players. i like him though. 1%.

Biglia - Not as good as Benat and not a priority. I don't even think he's better than what we have. Decent but overrated. perhaps 1%.

Charlie Austin, Long, McGeady etc. are all not good enough in my opinion and I do not believe Liverpool hold an interest. 0%.

Cavani - your dreaming although it would be awesome. 0%

Falcao - You got high then you fell asleep and started dreaming. 0%

Lewandowski - You're coming down off your buzz from falcao and you thought Lewandowski. but you haven't woken up yet. 0%

Right.Back to the proper business-
Lewis Holtby. I like him and could be a great addition. Slightly overated on here but is a real talent and would definitely improve the squad. Liverpool have the interest and he could well be achievable in the summer. 2% for january move although I really suspect he will stay with Schalke for the rest of the season before deciding his destination in the Summer.

Arda Turan - I think Arda is an excellent technical player but I'm not sure I rate him as much as people do here. For me 20 million is costly although there is no doubt he would improve our team. Anyhow I believe he is merely 1% for January and that's being kind.

Diego - Not sure of any current interest but this would be my pick for a January move if I could make a dream pick. He is having a truly excellent season with Weder Bremen and would be a superb addition to our team and style of play. Unfortunately I'll also have to give this one 1%. Sighs.

Hooper - Not sure interest remains. Nice squad addition but my opinion is always buy players for your first team and let the first teamers they replace become the squad players. 1%.

Ok. That's it from me. Sorry if you see my post as a complete waste of time. I just wanted to offer my opinion.

Davey

I'd be interested to know how you differentiate between us having 0 or 1% chance of getting a player.

SideShowBob

Me too SideShowBob, but also intrigued by the 2%'s as well!

So according to you we are only going to be signing Sturridge, with little or no chance of any other 'targets' you have selected!

So to summarise...

Sturridge will sign. We have a slight chance of Ince and Gremairo. And will not sign the rest!

You have too much time on your hands fella!

Red Lee

First of they are obviously my own estimations.

It is a percentage chance that I believe they will be a liverpool player by the end of the january transfer window.

To sideshowbob / 1% means I believe that a deal could be made but would be extremely difficult due to financial constraints or player club inerest.

2% means I just think they have more of a chance than the 1% but still unlikely.

To the other 2, I do not say we have little or no chance of the others. It depends who liverpool make an approach to which I don't know the answer to at this point.

If I give players more than 50% that would mean I would think they would be a greater chance they would be a liverpool player than not. Hence most would be well below 50 until offers have been accepted for said players. Then percentage goes up.

Some people just don't understand probability. Don't worry about it.

Davey.

Would of been a good round up of players until you added a percentage on the likelihood of them signing for us.

JOZLFC

I don't know where you're getting your percentages from, you must be quite the FM master.

JP

You forgot Alonso

How could you?

Thanks Davey. Intelligent and well thought out post. Obviously opinions on players abilities, and the likelihood of them joining, is a matter of personal opinion. Which is what a banter page is for.

Red Steve

Yes Davey, you appear to be one of them haha

Chance of percentage joke to follow 100%

alonso still owns a flat on the albert dock and has been renting out it since leaving liverpool, , now previous tennants moving out in april says my mate who works in the lfc store on the albert dock, , , , do you think a summer return is on the cards, , also is it true drogba could sign a season long deal
all the best
robbo {Ed002's Note - THe summer is a long way off still but if Liverpool want Alonso, and if Real MAdrid want to sell and the player wants to move then if Liverpool can agree a price then it is possible.}

Ed002 - that was an incisive comment, cleared up any ambiguity there mate! ;-)

I live in the Albert Dock and whilst im not disagreeing that Alonso owns a flat i am denying that there is a LFC store there. Alonso for me would be a great asset as he is loved and still a TOP player however at 31 i cant see FSG and BR making a move for him with gerrard henderson lucas Shelvey Allen all vying for the same positions its a none starter for me as much as i would love it .

There is no LFC store on the Albert Dock...

Yep your right about no lfc store, , i meant lfc and everton memrobillia shop where you can get autographs etc etc

Rafa will return!
Alonso will return!
Torres will return!
Benayoun will return!
People keep coming out with this tripe and NONE of them will return.

Ive been told off source which im not going to name that Walcott will commit to arsenal and will not leave for any other club, he has sorted any differences out with arsene wenger and is happy with his new forward role. he is a liverpool fan though.

Daniel Sturridge will be signed sealed delivered and pressented to the press either tomorrow or thursday, he will be available for selection against mansfield but i dont think we will use him. i think he will be in the squad to face man u though.

Joe Cole will leave on loan to QPR As we all know harry redknapp is a huge admirer and will sign him permanently in the summer.

Demba Ba i believe will still sign for chelsea.

Tottenham will sign lewis holtby.

the deal with tom ince has hit the rocks as liverpool offered 4mil and blackpool want 6mil. i do also believe that this will be resolved and ince will be in in january.

the wesley snejider rumours are faulse, he does want to leave inter but will sign for man u.

wilfred zaha to join man u, nani to join arsenal. and liverpool will sign kevin gameiro in january.

and finally alonso will join liverpool in the summer, hes already expressed his love for the club. you heard it here first. sorry about the essay lol

I think liverpool will not sign alonso and also theres been rumors about huntelaar and liverpool {Ed002's Note - Huntelaar will not be moving to Liverpool.}

Good guesswork - read the papers and believe everything you read - then because you think no one that comes on this site reads the papers or the internet - put your guesses on here.

Dont shoot the messenger, im just saying wat ive been told and yes some of it has been guess work for wat i believe will happen. but u remember this, i bet its at least 80 % accurate, wat do u think eds? and no huntelaar will not sign for us, everyone knows as its been well documented, hes signed a new deal

It was quoted the other day that that horrible man " fergie" said hes keeping Nani as he offers something else to the team none of the other players can .so ther!!

I believe its just fergie playing mind games mate, i do believe he will leave and i think wilfred zaha will be his replacement {Ed052's Note -

Hi Eds,
it is clear that Villa is a very good player and would add extra quality to the squad but isn`t he too old and too expensive? The club`s transfer policy is clear, and I do not believe the owners want to make same old mistakes as with Carroll, Downing, Henderson, Aquilani and Adam. Sure, at the right price with wages not out of the sky I`d be happy to welcome him. I just don`t see it happening. cheers.

What are the chances of Liverpool being in for Aiden McGeady?

Gav the Red {Ed002's Note - Both Zenit and Bayer Leverkusen showed interest in McGeady in the summer but the only recent interest I am aware of is from Fulham, who had the player watched in a game against Zenit (although he was on the bench for most of the game). If Spartak are willing to sell, and they might be as their season has not been good, I suspect that other clubs may show and interest, but for now I am not aware of interest from Liverpool at all.}

And for that may we be thankful

Liverpool wont sign aiden mcgready

The Aiden McGeady to Liverpool is another urban myth.I've never come across the slightest hint that we have ever been interesting or ever would be.

Hello ED's, happy new year! Makes it even better that the window is open also!
I'd just like to know mainly what you think our chances with Holtby would be? Ino you've answered this other times but what other clubs would be interested in him, and he in them? I think we cannot pass this opportunity up to sign a player in a position where we need quality who is also very young on a free! I think he would be a brilliant signing and I would be delighted if we could somehow come to a pre-contract agreement.

Happy to see Sturridge coming in, despite all the stick he seems to be getting from some of our fans. I think if we can add another good striker this window as well then that would make us an awful lot more useful up top! I have been informed Gameiro has been approached as well as reading it in the media and again I think he would be a very good addition, could play anywhere in a front three, pretty quick and excellent finisher! It seems to just be a loan though? Just wondering again what would be our chances like with the Holtby question?

Ince would be nice if negotiations can be resolved, I think we have to forget we sold him to buy him back really. Walcott would be nicer but I'm less hopeful on that!

Anyway, I'm just praying we can sign a few good players and hopefully we are not left disappointed again! Cheers,
J92

{Ed002's Note - Schalke have confirmed that they have made an offer to Lewis Holtby of a new contract but are aware that there will be interest from clubs wishing to speak to the player in January and getting him to agree a deal might be difficult - as is proving to be the case.

There has been long term interest in PSG's Kevin Gameiro from Lille and Dortmund; Everton and Kuban Krasnodar are showing interest in the player but Everton could only likely fund a loan. A move in the summer seems more likely than January.}

01 Jan 2013 13:42:06
Heard that Barry Hunter have been scouting Demba Ba almost every match this season. So there is clearly interest from Liverpool. I guess it all depends what chelsea decide to do.

- Scott {Ed002's Note - It is nothing to do with Chelsea.}

Surely Bellender is Goodison bound !

Are these Gameiro rumours true? If we get him on loan do you think we have the option to get him permanently end of season? {Ed002's Note - There has been long term interest in PSG's Kevin Gameiro from Lille and Dortmund; Everton and Kuban Krasnodar are showing interest in the player but Everton could only likely fund a loan. A move in the summer seems more likely than January. However, an enquiry was made regaring his team mate as we know.}}

Ed, who are Kuban Krasnodar? Are they another club who's suddenly got rich owners? {Ed052's Note - a football club}

Who else from PSG is LFC interested in? {Ed002's Note - Liverpool has, I understand, rekindled interest to some extent by making a recent request for information on Guillaume Hoarau's availability.

Kuban Krasnodar is located close to the Black Sea in Southwestern Russia. They tend to bounce up and down between the top two divisions.}

Reading have entered the race for Joe Cole

Derek P {Ed002's Note - Reading has been there all along - they were the other interested side. Still, much depends on what agreement Liverpool can reach with Cole regarding his release from his contract and the money he is owed.}

Why do we have to release him, can a team just buy him? {Ed002's Note - Sure if someone makes a cash offer, but Liverpool still owes him money and that needs to be resolved.}

Hel knock them back hes a greedy s*** {Ed002's Note - Absolute rubbish. With fans like you I would be surprised if it gets to the point when nobody will want to move to the club.}

Sorry for that eds, I didn't know. Just passing on what I'd heard

It isn't rocket science if reina goes we should go for begovic not butland.., rickie lambert over sturridge anyday

A 30 year old who would cost £6-8 million 6 months into his first prem season or a 23 year old massive potential proven prem goalscorer for £12 million.
person

These posts never make sense! If we went for lambert you'd say ba is better. Ronaldo youd probably say messi is better. So quit with the comparisons and support who we buy

M

Yeah, c'mon guys, if our only reasonably decent keeper goes then we should replace him. It's not rocket appliances!

Besides, we've learned through denial and error what happens when we sell players and don't replace them.

Good chance of Walcott joining in jan. he wouldn't wait until after the window opened only to re-sign with arsenal. I think he wants to see if what offer we put in for him. He has just as good a chance to win with Liverpool as he does with arsenal

He is more likely to win a trophy for liverpool. But he is more likely to play in the Champions League with Arsenal. Personally I think he will stay. But I'd love to see Theo play for us he is a very dangerous player

LFC pondering bid for David Villa
after failing to land the spaniard
on loan (El Mundo Deportivo)

Is real rumour??

El Mundo deportivo took the information from the daily mail

Reportedly the asking fee to sign Villa is 15 or 16 million pounds and FSG would never sanction this for a 32 year old no matter how talented.And that sum does not include his wages either which would be considerable.

The Plank

No its a Barca rumour..

Its from the daily mail look at the mundo deportivo website!

demba ba still being looked at by Liverpool as a possibility in January.

Ba is a no brainer for me the lad scores goals simple as.

We might be also looking at Messi but we won't be signing him either.There are so many snags and hangers on to any deal with Ba he might end up staying at Newcastle as clubs will back away from him when they meet his agent and other leeches.

Heard from a reliable source close to the club that Liverpool are trying to bring Frank lampard to to the club in a shock loan deal u heard it first here

Lol.. and the transfer nonsense starts again.. but hey.. you heard it here first...

Don

And why would Chelsea let him go anywhere on loan when he is out of contract in the summer? Durr!

Also, the national team has shown Gerrard and Lampard doesn't work well together... Where is the sense in getting him? Unless Gerrard isn't getting a new contract...

Cos Gerrard and Lampard have done so well playing together for England. Never gonna happen.

Gaz1975.

Is that frank lampard senior

On loan his out off contract. how would that work then fella???

01 Jan 2013 12:48:44
he's better than gerrard, id love to get frankie boy {Ed019's Note - He's not better overall imo. He only has a better shot & penalty than Gerrard, that's it}

What a laugh... Why would he come to us! I suppose next we are going to hear that Terry will be coming on loan too.

Lol lol because Lampard and Stevie G worked out so well with England. And again I say LOL. All the best.

KNEE JERK

Lampard is better than gerrard? ha great start to this year with a good old laugh. gerrard has carried lfc lampard has had players around him to allow him to play were ever he feels which has been a 3rd striker throughout his chelsea career. his goal ratio consists of penaltys and deflections. how many penaltys has lampard scored out off his 190 odd goals.

Wasnt this rumour started by one of the eds?

Hi eds I heard to my source.

In sturridge
Tom ince
Arda turan
Kevin gameiro

Out joe cole

Hi EDS Happy New Year, Just Wanted To Ask On The Odds Of Getting Demba Ba Or Walcott. A Reply Would Be Wonderful. Cheers. {Ed001's Note - in January? Almost none.}

Hello Eds,
a couple of questions
1. is it true we are looking at PSG's Kevin Gameiro on a 6-month loan deal ? also is it likely we would get him ?
2. any idea why are we willing to sell Coates ? is he not settled or the gaffer doesn't rate him ? and is so is Mirin likely to be his replacement ?
3. Finally any advancement in the Ince deal ? do you expect it to be done ? {Ed052's Note - 1. It all stemed from Tony B, and I dont know of any interest in him. 2.I think Coates may go in the summer. I dont think that he is rated that highly. 3. Nothing new}

01 Jan 2013 04:16:28
Sneider has denied the rumours linking him to us saying "they are all lies".

Liverpoolsl still wants t take Kevin Gameiro of PSG on loan till end of season.

Joe call is in talks with QPR for loan move that could possibly be made permanent in the summer. we turned down a swap deal with Lille involving him and Kalou, according to Telegraph.

Sturidge is done and dusted and should start on Sunday vs Mansfield. That will be all for now lads.

We havent even played Assaidi so I dont believe Ince will join except for free transfer in the summer, as we have Assaidi and Borini already. Dont see any sense in signing him. Thats stupid and I dont brlieve it will happen, dont see any sense in it at all.

Im going to bed please.

Abroad Red.

01 Jan 2013 13:54:53
assadi is injured and boroni is a striker so we should sign him

Assaidi is a superior player to ince, downing AND sterling. we should play him more. when does his contract run out?

Sell Assaidi a d Borini

hi eds happy new year to the lot of you was just wondering whats up with sahin not playing? is he injured? been hearing liverpool are looking to cancel his remainder of his loan to save some cash for january deals. {Ed001's Note - injured.}

Hi all and EDs, quick question

With the Daniel Sturridge deal definately done i was just wondering where he's been training the last few days until he can officially register to play for Liverpool?

Will he still have been training with Chelsea (most likely in the reserves) or will he have been allowed to train with the liverpool squad at Melwood? or even just get a few days holiday?

Stupid question, i know, but attention to detail is everything and this question boggles my mind

Any answer from anyone deeply appreciated

SR {Ed001's Note - I believe he was allowed to train at Melwood, though he did have a couple of days off to clear out his locker etc at Chelsea.}

Must've been a big locker haha Happy New Year all

Alonso will not be coming back has agreed to have talks with chelskea if it looks like Benitez will stay, wants to link up with him and Torres happy new year all

First joke of the new year!!

Benitez sold him in the first place!!

What nonsense! He will not be moving anywhere in January so stop talking nonsense...at best he will move in the summer of 2013.

01 Jan 2013 06:09:17
Can't see him playing for Benitez.seen as tho that's the reason he wanted to leave liverpool.

01 Jan 2013 07:05:45
The same Benitez that wanted rid of alonso and sign Barry?? Dream on

After Benitez tried replacing him with Barry when he was in charge at LFC? find that hard to believe.

Are you for real mate? Its common knowledge Xabi and Benitez dont get on, and he has spoken publically on a number of occasions of his desire to play for Liverpool again

Don't think so after what rafa did to him mate

Find that unlikely as it was because of Rafa that he left LFC, but hey you never know.

That makes sense since rafa pushed alonso out the door for gareth barry. Come on people if your gonna put lies on here at least do your homework

It would be unusual. Alonso did not end things well with benitez who he says is the reason he left anfield.

But not outside the realms of possibility. Chelsea do have a lot of $.

He'll stay at Real in my opinion. At least till the summer.

And here's me thinking he and Benitez fell out because he wanted Barry to replace him

Benitez is the main reason Alonso left

Yeah because im sure he wants to get treated badly again by benitez i hear chelsea r after barry as he is better than alonso rafa says lol.Tommy Irish Red

Yeah because im sure he wants to get treated badly again by benitez i hear chelsea r after barry as he is better than alonso rafa says lol.Tommy Irish Red

Why would he want to link up with Benitez - the same man who wanted him out of Liverpool? Stop talking outta your ass boy.
Dani

The same Benitez that forced him out of Liverpool? I don't think so.

So hes going to join the fat spanish waiter who drove him out of liverpool eh person'or maybe he will sign him and then try replace him with gareth barry'makes me wonder how you have the brain cells to get out of bed everyday

He left because of benitez us fool

If that was true why was Alonso not happy at been 'forced` out due to Benitez wanting to land Barry?

Benitez is going for the English Alonso... Gareth Barry

Thanks, first good laugh of the new year, well after watching re runs of Friends!

Source close to the club I was speaking to the other day told me that Brendan is in the market for four players in January, with various degrees of likelihood in them signing:

Sturridge - done deal

Ince - his advisors (his manc dad) telling him to stay at bpool but could still happen

Xabi Alonso - if not January definitely in the summer

Wesley Sneijder - sounds unreal but apparently he is coming to us for £8m (similar to van der vaart to spurs) AS LONG AS Cole and a couple of other bits of dead wood on huge wages are shipped out.

Watch this space

Alonso and sneijder simply wont happen

Sneijder - not coming to us. Fact!
Alonso - maybe summer 2013 but not done.
Ince - almost complete.
Sturridge - Done and I think he'll be a great addition!

Nameless watch this space guy we have zero deadwood at LFC!

Ryanwhittington&hiscat

Deadwood? God your nice.

Sturridge i know deal done and would
be good alongside suarez, ince nice
with sterling, alonso if we get him
lucas or allen probbaly wouldn't play
as much and sneijder just very unlikly.

You say we have no deadwood? Downing, joe cole, borini, joe allen (lucas, henderson both better players than him), sahin (absolutely woeful, apparently going back to real madrid, we're paying him massive wages to sit on the bench)... All these players are on huge wages. No deadwood? Get real mate, brendans got a big job on his hands to clear all this rubbish

{Ed002's Note - Actually we will soon be opening an online store where you can by effigies of Liverpool players and prospective players. You can then make the pilgrimage to Anfield where there will be ritual burnings. We will also be selling some very high-end voodoo dolls with a set of silver-plated pins thrown in for good measure.}

Was that note supposed to be funny 'Ed002'. How many matches have you been to in the last two seasons? Quite clearly a plastic fan {Ed002's Note - I really can't recall how many matches I have been to in the past couple of years - what sickens me is that a foul anonymous trolling piece of crap like you can do nothing but disrespect the club, the owners, the manager and the players.}

I love it when you lean into our "deadwood" fans! Haha! I am very interested in these voodoo dolls though! Maybe I can give Raheem a haircut!

RyanWhittington&hisgato

'Disrespect the owners, manager and players?' OK mate, I bet you weren't at {Ed001's Note - go away. You are just a vile little boy with nothing constructive or intelligent to add.}

Wouldn't mind if you knew anything about the club, or any rumours that aren't on the internet... Plastic red

01 Jan 2013 00:23:32
Ed's what do you thinks about Alonso and Sneijder? Can there be a chance of atleast one of them coming to Anfield? {Ed001's Note - I don't expect either.}

Thank God for the sense of Eds 001 and 002!!

Hope Ed is wrong about this one. Our midfield engine and creativity has been a shambles since alonso and mascherano left

hi eds was talking to a friend earlier and he was telling me how br has changed his mind about henderson and is thinking of preparing him or shelvey as the new captain when stevie g finally retires any truth in this do you know? could personally see shelvey as a future captain if he continues to improve. Also my friend also tells me br is not very impressed with sahin as he thought he was better than he really is (or atleast performing) {Ed001's Note - Rodgers has been impressed with Henderson, yes, not sure captain impressed, but certainly enough to decide to keep him for now.}

Excellent topic mate. I think hendo and shelvey are the future. And Shelvey in my opinion will be our next Steven Gerrard. He playing very well, 2 seasons of maturity and he'll impress I'm sure. Cheers redted

Over the moon for Hendo.The lad derserves it.

Got to admit ive liked hendo from the start just needs to play regular in his proper position i prefer him to jon jo any day

Reckon Henderson have a job on to b captain ahead of Lucas, D'agger or Suarez (if he still around..... )

I doubt Shelvey could be captain unless he gets ahold of his temperament a bit more.

Hendo? Maybe, if he increases his confidence and progresses on the same path he is taking.

Personally I think the next captain will be Lucas, or possibly Agger.

TSP

Cant see Suarez being captain! Fantastic player, but not got the temperament to be a captain!
