Hi ED I see you think that there is a chance that agger could leave, do you have any idea on the fee that Liverpool would expect for him? Or what they would consider a suitable offer
Thanks
Nev {Ed001's Note - it is the other centre half that is most likely to leave.}

Its skrtel? hope ur right ed, if 1 has to go, really hope agger stays.

Kaizer {Ed001's Note - I believe so, certainly that is what I am told, that he is the one likely to make way. Though it depends on who you talk to as to whether we want to sell or he wants to leave.}

01 Aug 2012 21:34:06
Eds please tell that the Sterling to Tottenham rumour is false.
Danieldenmark {Ed001's Note - I have been saying so for ages, Spurs are one of many interested clubs, but he is not for sale.}

Lol 'Danieldenmark' your surname's not Agger is it? xD

According to Brendan Rodgers we will consider offers for any player and do the best thing for the club

Eds do you reckon Bellamy,Carroll and Aquilani could be gone by next week ?
If they are followed by Adam, Spearing, Pacheco, Brad jones and Eccleston I feel the club have done 50% of the job. Then we just need to get the deals done for Allen, Dempsey, The possible Loan & perhaps a ST/winger like Mirallas/Tello/Gaitan and it gets a great summer. And If Agger does want to leave, Get that Amorebieta or pehaps Sakho. Ed any idea how much the athletic CB would cost ? Also where is Agger likely to end up Mancity or Barcelona ?
If it is Barcelona surely we should try to get Tello or gerard deulofeu as part of the deal. {Ed001's Note - by next week? No. Not a clue how much and I expect Agger to stay.}

Allen & Dempsey bloody hell , I'd rather keep Carroll & Aquliani thanks. Any remote chance of finishing top 4 is f***ed if we sign those 2 the rumour prices of Allsn & Dempsey combined is ridicolous

I heard that somebody saw Chiek Tiote in Melwood chatting to Brendan Rogers.

Swansea City's Joe Allen closes in on Liverpool switch
JOE Allen has agreed terms on a bumper contract with Liverpool as the midfielder edges closer to the Swansea City exit door.
The Evening Post can reveal the Allen camp were given permission to speak to Liverpool last month.
And we understand the 22-year-old has settled on an Anfield deal which, a source explained, will set him up for life¯.
However, though Swansea allowed Allen's representatives to talk terms with Liverpool, they are still haggling over the size of the transfer fee.
Liverpool have tabled an offer of £12.5 million plus a player on loan ” thought to be Jonjo Shelvey ” which, the Post understands, Swansea have not responded to officially.

I'm guessing this only happens if he comes through the olympics injury free?

Not worth £12.5 mil, maybe £7.5 mil at todays inflated, plus I thought we had stopped wasting mega money on stupid contracts, its as if Comolli is still working behind the scenes.

BUMPER? hopefully not more than 20-30,000 pw

£12.5 million is a good price for a decent player in todays market, at 22 he's got bags of class already. Only time will tell but if we get him for that price it's got potential to be signing of the season.

MarkB.

Does anyone know what his current wagesare at swansea?

TOO MUCH- more of the same from last year

8m + 30k p/w + Spearing is more realistic. We need to keep Shelvey, surely?

cozinoz

If the wages are well, suitable for him, and by suitable i mean not too high, i dont mind the price.

Kaizer

If this is true and he's "set up for life" we've been mugged, name one prem footballer who is'nt set up for life?! ............Allen is good but i don't recall any expert, Ed or poster on here saying he's the next Stevie G?

Cheers Ed's...keep calm and carry on.

Good authority that Liverpool city council are pushing for a ground share again. LFC waiting to see what maps out regarding capacity etc

How would this work though, i thought everton is skint ?

The city council and our fat mayor can push all they like.First they'll need to ask Everton if they can raise half of the building costs. The answer to that is NO! So there goes the shared stadium idea again.

Liverpool will not ground share. liverpool will redevelop anfield. the houses around anfield aren`t getting bulldozed anymore, they are getting done up apart from the anfield road end and the main stand end where they are getting redeveloped. also naming rights will be sold for anfield. which will cause a storm.

Don't LCC understand the meaning of NO!! NEVER.

Well I can tell you your good authority is talking Betty swollocks . It's not happening and never will .
Tellitasitis

I reckon this would work great if us the council and everton put sufficient funds together we could have a 70,000 stadium and with new financial fair play rules this could be vital i reckon we should copy the prototype used in milan that has worked a treat

Utter rubbish

If its 85k then why not? we wouldn't loose any revenue in fact we'd gain revenue whilst also spending MUCH MUCH LESS on a stadium of 80-85k capacity, if the Milan giants can do it why not us?

there would also be a much bigger potential sponsor/naming right deal on top of slitting the costs.

To the poster talking about a 70,000 seater groundshare what use would that be to Everton they can't sell out their own ground asit is, they have no money to put into the project and further more your example of the San Siro is a bad one as Inter are building their own ground and moving out.

For the last time this is never going to happen, they are in £45m debt, anfield IS getting re-developed,anfield road end is the problem that is causing delay,it has to be changed to a unadopted road so that we can extend out to stanley park,if the road cannot be changed it will have to run under the extension ie:tunnel for access,we are never going to groundshare period.

As far as it goes Fleet Street is again wide of the mark, Agger has not handed in a transfer request nor is he agitating for a move, he is not interested in a transfer to City as he considers it disrespectful to sign for a rival team in the UK (see his comments re Torres which support this), expect Agger to still be here in September, Skrtl may be a different matter though...

Another 1 that knws our club is bigger than any1 player,,ynwa

Have you gone mental?

Don't worry about what Agger considers disrespectful, he will move on if given the right opportunity, as any of our current squad would, with the possible exception of Gerrard and Carra.
And who says it's only City who are interested?
How naive is this post?
I hope Agger is here next season but doubt it.

He may not move to another club in the prem, but there are few clubs who are interested in europe. Really hope he stays though.

ChinUp

I do believe agger loves the club more than you think. It just feels like that.

The loan signing who we are 'attempting' to sign is Higuain with option to buy at the end of the season. Carroll will leave on a season long loan to Newcastle, Allen will sign along with Dempsey and Adam will join Fulham on loan with view to buy. Agger will join Man City for around £19 million but not sure of his replacement.
RedUnZipped

You are of course Brendan Rogers so you'd know all this wouldn't you?

Why 'attempting?'...

What an embarrassing post?

You haven't got the faintest idea, pure childish speculation.

Higuain? Carroll on loan? Adam to fulham?

Hmmm.

Higuain? Why would Madrid be willing to let their top scoring CF from last year go out on loan for a year to us? Only Ronaldo scored more last year (and frankly Ronaldo scored a disgusting amount of goals, it was borderline obscene). The guys worth £35-40m why on earth would they loan him to us :S

And where are u gonna join??/

What, no way would we do that
and the last part of your post was the worst part of it Agger would never do that

Benzema scored more than Hig do your homework

....... Pl G A
Benzema 52 32 15 (34 Pl in League 21 goals)
Higuain 54 26 10 (35 Pl in League 22 goals)

I believe it may be kaka that we may take on loan been out of favor at madrid for 2 seasons now and madrid looking for another player in his possition like modric

Liverpool after talented Japan u-23 international Takashi Usami. Plays for Hoffenheim on loan from Gamba Osaka. Talented youngster.

?Thought he played for Bayern

01 Aug 2012 21:50:53
Takashi Usami has just signed another season long loan, so he won't be going anywhere else soon

No senior international appearances. So we'd have to try and get him a work permit on the "special talent" basis, which is not exactly a sure fire thing.

I'm hearing Theo Walcott might be on his way to us. I seriously hope not because hes garbage. I'd take Demba Ba anyday for that Donkey as well. Ba, Borini and Suarez next season.

I would as well mate

Are you for real? Walcott is about 100 times better that anything we currently have for the flanks... or for that matter, that we have had for many a year. He has flaws as do all players - eg, gerard lack of positional discipline...downing...um....just plain sh1te! It would be a amjor coup to do get Walcott, he is at a good age and has bags of experience in the prem. Considring what united paid for Young for example, a player that is now, what..27? Walcott at say 12 mil would be a good investment in every sense of the word. Id be delighted if we got him but i feel sure Arsenal will come up with a last minute deal on his contract so im not expecting anything..

Demba Ba has not passed a medical in years (dodgie knees) so we will never go for him, but I aggree with you over wallcot.

Naaa Walcott any day over BA well younger and faster just what liverpool need

Walcott = lord Cisse without the goals!

Your a spaz... take your blue top off

01 Aug 2012 18:24:25
This Demba Ba deal may be true. My brother lives up in Gateshead and thats the rumours up there. Hope it is true. Hes better than Carroll if you ask me. YNWA

He's 10 x better isn't he, Id love to see it happen I just somehow.. cant see it happening.
Don

Nobody up here talking about it, Liverpool could have bought him last month. Trust me he wont pass a medical.

Well I live in Newcastle and Ive heard nowt.

Why on earth does everyone keep going on about BA? He is absolutely sh$t! Rather keep Carroll. PJ

How all of a sudden ba is better than carroll? one season?
ba hardly a link up player or the type rogers apparently likes. just more desperate rubbish. liverpools downfull if carroll goes. were hardly going to attract a higuin etc

Not Ba another average player that has the odd good halff season like Dempsey can no one else see that either of those two are poor!! ben arfa or cabaye much better options if we are buying from newcastle {Ed001's Note - Dempsey has been playing better and better every season, he is not poor, it is idiotic to suggest that he is! Try actually watching him play and not judging him on the team he plays for, then you might actually learn something.}

Ed 001 well said about Dempsey, show's some poster's are clueless and it shows with the Ba comments if they knew about football they would know Demba "glass knees" Ba would struggle to pass a tough medical at Anfield?

Brownie YNWA

Name 1 game last season Ba missed through a so called " dodgey Knee " ? I save you the time. Not one.

I can confirm that the loan signing is NOT David villa. I have no connections or sources in lfc but I live in Barcelona and I can assure you all that villa has been told he is six weeks away from getting back playing. Also while
I am here agger rumours are being banded about here but iv heard nothing of a bid. Thank you

What part of Barcelona do you live mate?

Did you need Sherlocks Holmes to tell you that Villa was never going to Liverpool.

I dont see the point of taking david villa on loan for a season if hes just coming to us to get his fittness back . he could do that at barca ,what use would he be to us if hes not fit and hasnt got his sharpness and confidence it could take him ages to get back to his old self which in my opinion is not worth it

David Villa made it clear a while ago he wants to leave Barcelona. {Ed001's Note - actually it was made clear they wanted to sell him.}

I can confirm messi, ronaldo, rvp, aguero, rooney and torres will not be joining this summer. I can confirm this because i live in the planet earth with loads of sauces telling me this!
:p

Spoke to my mate who works in mellwood. Apparently demba ba is signing with Carroll goin the other way. Dnt know how much for though

Sky are set to announce this in the next few hours, Ba has been left out the Newcastle squad 4 2nitex game at Gateshead 2 have a medical. We are reportedly also interested in young Japan midfielder oshio who shined in last months Gothia cup in Sweden

My mate works in and ice cream van outside melwood and says that your talking she*p

The fact you don't even know how to spell Melwood, says everything you need to know about this rumour.

'spoke to my mate who works in Melwood' - um, no you didn't and no he doesn't
'Apparently demba ba is signing with Carroll goin the other way.' - of course
'Dnt know how much for though' - of course you don't because you are a right proper muppet, next time leave a name so we remember which muppet you are

SirPurpleNose

Ba have a medical? I bet he hopes they forget to check his knees

Ur m8 needs 2 get a new job. An stop thinking he knows it all. KAGS

By Heck there are so many "alleged" leaks fron Melwood they better send for British Gas and United Utilities to seal things off!

Ba's buy out clause deadline has been passed as from today so he's not going anywhere according to bbc sport.....

Dwood

Yes mate what will we do is wait until the £7 million clause is finished and then put a bid for higher to get our man, makes sense !!!

Mupet only has one p. It is short for Most Useless Person Ever Trained. Spearing wins that award hands down.
As for the rumour. Ba for Carroll? FSG would need sectioning. Unless he came with 30 million.

Your all wrong it has just been reported on bbc and sky that newcastle have said hes staying put!

Mate we need more of your humour on this site , the next time you smoke yr socks and dream up hogwash at least try and make it seem realistic

bestredeva

Liverpool couldn't have bought Ba for £7 million. Only for clubs in the Champions League. So if you want him you best dig deeper than £7 million.

So Ba with £30 million would get Carrol. LMAO. Deluded.

: the Demba Ba medical has been cut short after an MRI on his femur actually revealed his real age to be between 42 and 48!

How many people actually work at Melwood? It seems that tthey must be one of the biggest employers in the UK.

Hi ed002, do you rate Amorebieta highly as I have only watched him in the europa league when he got sent off and so not seen much of him. Also heard from the source "liverpool kop" saying liverpool have agreed personal terms with joe allen and will pay swansea 12.5 M,( to be completed by next week) do you know whether this has any truth in it.
Keep up the great work. Y.N.W.A {Ed002's Note - I am not really one for rating of players as such. What I can say is that there is genuine interest from Liverpool. Liverpool may havs agreed terms with Allen's agent. Certainly efforts are concluding in respect of the transfer and after teh Olympics I suspect it will go through.}

Hes rubbish he had to change nationality because he cant get in spanish sqaud and he hardly played towards end of last season for bilbao

01 Aug 2012 14:29:56
I'd just like to ask a question to the eds and all the regulars on the site.

Does it excite you or worry you with the names we are being linked with to sign combined with the players that are being linked with moves away from the club.

I think Borini could be a great signing. Young, skillfull etc. Allen also young and clearly passes the ball very well. But none of these players really give me huge confidence that we will be considerably stronger next season.

Do other fans/eds think the signings we look like making will change our league position this year? I am just really interested to get an opinon from everyone on here rather than just read mindless rumours/statements

Cheers,

Geoff

If players like Suarez, Agger and Sktrel stay, then yes, I'm very excited, especially with what Rodgers has said about his style of football. With some smart additions to the squad we have and the removal of the players that just won't fit (Adam etc) we will be a force. That said, if those players mentioned leave, then it will be very disappointing and I can't help but feel that the side will suffer for it in this coming season.

In any case, this is a time of transition and results won't come immediately, so I think people just have to be patient.

ChrisMiz

It doesn't take 11 superstar to make a great team. Swansea proved they were more than a match for most teams last season and they don't have one 'superstar'. They just play good flowing football and give 110% which is what I am hoping liverpool will be like this coming season.......plus we have a few superstars haha !

I agree with the post above, heavily depends on departures.

I think if we can offload Cole, Bellamy, Spearing, Downing, Adam, Aquilani, and bring in some young talented players such as Allen, Sinclair, Ramirez, Walcott, then I would be excited. As it stands there are too many average players in the squad, who aren't going to improve, therefore I am not excited as yet.
If we can keep our world class players such as Agger, Skrtel and Reina, and bring in some young talented players. Also give some of our fantastic youngsters an oppertunity such as Sterling, Suso, Pacheco, Flanno, Robbo etc..then i this'll be excited.

I wouldn't mind kaka on loan for a season if we are to loan a big player this summer.

YNWA

Red Lee

Forgive me for asking but who are Liverpool's superstars?

We played well last season, the likes of Aqua, Bellamy, Kuyt etc departing shouldn't change that too much...
Skrtel has had one good season, but would be a loss, Agger is always injured?
It's hard to say, but a bit of luck, a few new exciting players, a good passing style and we'll give it a good go.
I personally think Dempsey could be a very good signing,

Eddie

I don't know how old you are but I suspect you weren't around when we were Kings of Europe. We always had 2 or 3 top players supplemented by players whose role was to get the best out of best players. If they're well coached then they'll improve. Very few clubs, if ever, have had 11 world class players. Even Barca have some weaknesses. Mostly at the back. Barca would improve immensely if they had Suarez and Agger. Lets hope they don't get 'em!!

I feel that we will be weaker next season until the new signings bed in but it does worry me that our rivals are being linked with much higher rated and more established players than us. This will only allow the gap between us and them to grow each year .... We do need a big signing to help lift both the team and the fans

Markiemagoo72

In reply to the post on LFC superstars. I'll assume you are attempting to be funny. Or you have no real knowledge of football.

Steven Gerrard is one of best players this game has seen. and is still a well thought of star. Suarez is currently one of the worlds best players. Agger, Skrtel, Reina, Johnson and Lucas would be first team players on a lot of the worlds top teams.

To the person who's obviously not a Liverpool fan asking about superstars. You don't think Suarez is? Worth a minimum 39 mil, first choice striker for number 2 in the world? Or Gerrard? England capatain and one of Europe most respected midfielders? Reina- would be no.1 in most national teams. Agger & skrtl - 2 of the best CB's in the pl. certainly in the PL they are ( the league which we compete) and would be in a lot of leagues. Unless you classify superstar as the likes of messi and neymar, of which there are about 15 in the world across various positions..

Swish

Personally I like how Rodgers believes in an ethic of style & an adherence to a pattern of play, bob paisley had a similar idea in which you mould or find players with the attributes to fit that pattern,in his most successful side the only "star" that was bought was kenny dalglish, the other great players such as Hansen, souness(did hit the ground running) & mc dermott etc tended to grow & flourish under his astute guidance, that's not to say he did not buy big when the right player came along such as mark lawrenson, who even though was a record signing was eased in gently sometimes patience is required it can take the best player 1/2 seasons to settle even more so when they are young & should be given the correct support (apologies to Lucas leiva for my own impatience that is way Henderson needs encouragement not condemning as do all our young players, kenny has left some good foundations for brendon to build on let all us supporters be the bond that binds it together.........y.n.w.a jft96 paisley's genius

I am nervous about the coming season. I am seriously starting to doubt the commitment of the owners. I may be wrong, I hope so. We can't afford to lose Luis or either of the two centre backs. Plus we need some real quality brought in. Rodgers can't afford to fail, he must do better than Kenny did last season. No excuses. A trophy and top four is minimum requirement.

I'm neither overly excited nor particularly gloomy at the moment. All that has happened so far is Borini in (a good thing, I think, we need a poacher-type) and Maxi/Kuyt out. So far, I'd say we have a slightly stronger squad now than last year.

No idea what will end up happening in the transfer market. Personally, I think it will either be not much of anything or potentially pretty massive changes and without knowing who the ins/outs are or will be, it's hard to really say much of anything. Generically, I think both Dempsey and Allen would be good signings if they do show up at Anfield. In particular, I think Dempsey is far better than many think.

What I do find interesting is that 'versatility' seems to be the key to BR's transfers in (or at least those rumored). Borini can play pretty comfortably in any 3 of the front of a 4-3-3, Dempsey can be either a wide mid, CAM, or occasionally striker, Allen can play pretty much anything from defensive to attacking to wide mid. For me, I think this is a good thing as this sort of ability is necessary for a good pass-and-move sort of style of play.

All in all, I choose to remain optimistic about it and at least I think the team via BR have a clear strategy in place for what and how they are going to play, something I think was a bit lacking previously as our transfers and playing style was a tad schizophrenic (part pass and move, part lump it forward, part park the bus, and no one real sure what they were supposed to be doing at any given time thus making many players appear to be "headless chickens").

RDL

To be honest I dont think our team is overly bad, last season you could c the confidence ebbing away after each game, what with hitting the bar and post countless times, Lucas injury, Suarez 8 game ban ( terry had better get the same!!) I just think Kenny knew he was going and the lads couldn't respond. Hoping to get at least 1 more good wide player or striker, quite fancy the idea of Suarez out on the left borini/ Carroll up top with a decent signing on the right, then gerrard Lucas Allen and Dempsey fighting for places behind them. All in all if we can keep hold of our current players add 1 or 2 more and bring suso and sterling through I'm opptimistic for coming season.

I feel if we keep a strong spine in the team, especially if we keep skrtel and agger (a big if I suspect) then we liverpool fans have a lot to be excited about. With Rodgers' style of play I don't really feel as if we need to spend huge amounts to buy big names as his swansea side last season just did the basics but did them exceptionally well, a few more cunning moves in the market and we should be able to mount a better challenge for 4th spot the liverpool way!

Vish

I do not believe Clint Dempsey or Joe Allen improve our starting 11 as they would not get in it. They improve the squad yes, but is that what we need? I do not think so. Jayo

This transition period it started in 1991 please let it end.

I think Allen and Dempsey would add a bit more creativity to the squad. But I think we definitely need to offload Aquilani and Adam. Looking forward to seeing Joe Cole this season but if he diesnt shine by December I would offload him in January. Also I think we really do need another experienced left bk. An out and out winger similar to farfan or navas. NOT Walcott!! Not a striker turned winger. Definately a left winger also. Downing was never going to please the KOP. And at least two strikers of top quality. One if Carroll stays. Would like to see the youngsters loaned out to top championship sides. And with the UEFA cup bk, maybe a DM line moussa sissoko yann mvila.

I admit a bit concerned mate. the players we are signing are ok, but the players who are being talked about leaving , depending on who is or not , does worry me . we can only hope our best players stay and we sign one or two top players. steviep62.

I'm concerned that we may up light on the attacking front for yet another year if Carroll goes, though perhaps BR has something in mind on that front.

At least, I hope he does!

It's pre- season so everything is gonna be just fine this coming season

I think we will stay were we are if not worse

Im excited, not by any of the signings (or because its the yearly lets all get excited time), but by the return of Lucas. Lets face it, losing Lucas last year caused complete and utter chaos for us. I dont think it can be underestimated just how important he is to us, you need that spine, and with no effective replacement for him we struggled.
This has been our problem since the Houllier days, when we can field our best eleven players, fully fit, we are a match for anyone, and I mean anyone, but the problem comes when our backup players, our squad players are woefully inadequate. How many journeymen have we signed in the last ten years as squad players who have been utter crap. Lucas injured, no effective replacement, Gerrard injured, no effective replacement, Suarez suspended and having to rely on an off form low in confidence Carroll for goals.
One of the reasons Id love to see us get Vargas, a player with true flexibility who can play in a number of positions.

"This transition period it started in 1991 please let it end."

Delightfully bleak and not a little amusing...

;0)

Dr S.Atire.

I honestly hope Lucas comes back fine, you couldn't tell from those overseas cameos

Juan Manuel Vargas to sign for Liverpool FC for 4m!!

Got to say, if this happens i'll be well happy! £4m sounds waaay too cheap but if they want aqua then i reckon we should do the deal.

the more i look at his style of play, the more i think 'snap him up!'...a major attacking threat but can defend too.

looks a whole hearted kinda of player chasing back etc. just the kind of layer rodgers wants. plus with Bren speaking spanish, nothing will be lost in translation!

if we were playing 4-3-3, i can see him playing as one of the front 3, or in a 4-2-3-1 (used away from home) as left midfield. either way putting major pressure on downing to perform (or leave freeing up money) and on enrique for the LB spot too...a win-win.

sinner21

Well, he is 29 in Oct so 4m seems about right. Plus, it would be interesting when he met with Coates in training...

-"Already down 2-0 after Luis Suarez scored twice in five minutes in the Copa America semifinal, Peru's Juan Manuel Vargas expressed his frustration in the form of an elbow to Uruguay defender Sebastian Coates' face. That earned Vargas a straight red card"-

Where you hear this, the same place i did? from the teenagers page on FB.. come on.. not gonna happen

£4 million? Hell, at that price buy three

4m isnt cheep i would say its the going rate hes ageing and isnt as good as he is on fifa plus boreoff this story gets brought up ever year he isnt coming to us zzzzzzzzzzz

Liverpool rumours have been flowing for the last couple of weeks but two deals are nearing completion. Alberto Aquilani is finally on his way after Liverpool agreed a fee of just £3m with Fiorentina. Joe Allen looks like he will join Brendan Rodgers at Anfield once the Olympics are over as Swansea have agreed to release him for £12.5m plus Charlie Adam on a season long loan.

If true that really is a stupid deal, liverpool have well had there pants off there

Well we get joe Allen for less than £15 mill and get rid of one of our fringe players but I heard it was shelvey, not Adam.

So we are now Swansea's feeder club :D

Talksport (i know) and a number of other sources saying Sakho of PSG is available. Us, Arsenal and Newcastle are interested. Has there been any more actual news eds? {Ed002's Note - Arsenal and Lyon have sustained interest in Sakho and there is growing interest from Newcastle, Inter Milan and possible interest lingering interest from Real Madrid and Barcelona. PSG are not keen on selling.}

Probably bull, but Reports today are saying that he is being offered around Europe. With Thiago Silva's arrival he wont be getting much playing time.

01 Aug 2012 13:02:00
To any ed who may have an inside track...

Now that Fiorentina have signed Matias Fernandez from Sporting, does this mean that they will no longer have any interest in buying Aquilani, considering that both play in a similar role? Thanks.

Pepe's barber {Ed002's Note - Don't rule it out.}

01 Aug 2012 12:11:13
ed do you know of any intrest in Carroll from clubs other than Newcastle and West Ham? and are there any offers for a permanant transfer on the table from any club? cheers JF LFC {Ed002's Note - I postulated interest from Spurs. The other interested English club seem to now be out of the loop.}

Of course Spurs are interested. That club need to stop sheeping LFC

Spanish press reporting that Barcelona are close on Agger for 15M +5M variables. Do you know anything about this, eds? {Ed002's Note - There is interest in Agger from Barcelona. I expect there is a good chance that he will be leaving.}

We would be stupid not to get one of their players even if it is on loan ..as part of this deal

That's too cheap...! why do we sell our players for penny to the pound, when small clubs get better deals?

£20m upfront or £14m plus Tello should be our price.

Then we can get a good replacement for £7m-£10m; there are three players that fits the bill - Lovren (£8m), Amorebieta (£9m) or Sakho (£14m)

I think people are forgetting how many games Agger has actually played for us in the last few seasons, he is injury prone and usually out for long periods, yes he can play from the back but I for one would be more concerned about losing Skrtel who seems to be improving year on year..... 20 million for Agger I would bite there hands off and replace with possibly Kjaer

No surprise if Daniel does leave, and in truth whilst I will be gutted I couldn't actually blame the man. Yes, some might say he "owes us" due to the long periods he has spent out with injury, but conversely, he also has seen plenty of promised false dawns as well, and whilst Rodgers speaks a brilliant and articulate "game" I can't help think this may just be yet another false dawn given the current players he has at his disposal.

I think the "Buzzards" have been circling long before his outstanding European Championship performances highlighted what all Liverpool suppoerters knew - he is absolutely top draw! reinforced by the fact that this season his fitness has been good and this probably has been what certain clubs have actually been waiting to see - can the man go manage a season/s relatively injury free

He is one of those rare commodities, a centre back/left back who is ultra comfortable on the ball, which if he does succomb to the allure of Barcelona then I think he will fit in absolutely brilliantly there.

Just because Ed2 reports Interest in Agger from top teams does not mean he is leaving. Ed2 thinks there is a 'good chance' but that is his opinion. A good chance implies that both the club and Agger want the move to happen.

Personally, I think it's nonsense and that Agger is going nowhere for a least a year. Proper quality players like Agger will always strike up stories and interest from other top teams.

Carroll not flying with rest of squad. spurs, hammers and newcastle interested Redevon

If he plays for liverpool in the qualifying rounds he can still play for another team in the league stage of the europa. so carroll not travelling means nothing. besides i heard he has a groin injury.

Think Spurs will have to match the Hammers £90k a week wage for him to join them and that won't happen.

BBC saying its due to a groin injury though don't know what to believe at the moment. Great to see Morgan go although feel sorry for Pachecho, thought he had done enough after pre season.

It's so the big man is not to be cup tied when he move's on.for me he is on his way fact.walk on walk on.jay essex red

Liverpool daily post has spurs entering Carroll race. Redevon

To be fair there isn't a race really as Newcastle arn't coming back in for him as they have Ba staying now. And the Hammers have declared their interest but not Spurs yet.

Spurs. What a surprise

andy carroll hasnt traveled with the side to belarus.

confired by both sky and bbc

They say hes injured load of bull tho hes moving some where

01 Aug 2012 11:28:06
ssn , Andy Carroll NOT travelling to beleraus..

Niallo

Because he is injured
DanielDenmark

Just a groin strain - probably a Gareth Bale ( a convenient injury which doesn't really exist).

If you read the full story it says he has a slight groin strain hence the withdrawal. It wouldn't of mattered if he played tomorrow anyway as he can still play for another team when they get to the group stages of the Europa cup. So trying putting the full story on here and not cr*p one liners like this

Which means he is joining either newcastle or spurs.

Because he has a minor injury. Why not mention that...

Due to a mild groin strain according to the BBC....Make of it what you will....

Andy Carroll is in the Liverpool squad for Thursday's Europa League qualifier against FC Gomel, but his future remains uncertain.

this was taken from the bbc sport website, make of it what you will, but to me it looks like he's staying, which i think is good news :)

He hasn't travelled mate.

BBC now says he has not travelled!!

UEFA rules do not bar players from involvement in the group stages if they have featured in the qualifying rounds for another team.

He has not travelled to Belarus.

He's out now though. Supposed groin strain.

Kev.

No he is not, he has been left out of the side due to a slight strain.

BBC Sport says he's NOT in the Squad.

He's not mate, he's pulled out due to a "thigh strain". He's leaving definitely.

He has been withdrawn from it since then

murton red

Not travelled mate which looks like opposite to me especially as he was named in squad, must mean deal is close.

According to the BBC Andy Carroll is set to miss out on the trip with "a slight groin strain." Make of that what you will but he won't be cup-tied.

But then why does it say on their page he didnt travel

BBC originally said he was in the squad, then changed it to say he hadn't travelled. I saw the same article as the original poster.

What is the situation regards Tello Eds? Has interest from LFC cooled? {Ed001's Note - no, just Barca's willingness to sell is not there.}

Would they consider a loan? {Ed002's Note - My understanding is that general enquiries about the player's availability have been made by Porto, Seville, Malaga and Liverpool. Discussions about loans of one type or another have been discussed by Valencia, Ajax and Atletico Madrid. I also understand that Benfica have now made a proposal to Barcelona - but I don't know what it is.}

But they haven't signed a deal for him as he wants more money and they don't see him as a regular.

I heard that there's an agreement between Barcelona and Liverpool to wait till the end of Olympics and then talks will continue.

A 13-year-old Irish boy has signed a deal with Premier League giants Liverpool in a move that's set to land him and his family a €1m fortune

Conor Masterson was also courted by both Manchester United and City but decided to sign for Liverpool having already been a fan of the team.

The young centre-back - who leaves Dublin side Lucan United to move full-time to Merseyside when he turns 16 - has already met manager Brendan Rodgers to discuss his future at Anfield.

Surely this means that Carroll is on the way out the door now?

Actually met this kids mother in Dublin Airport about 3-4 months ago, she was buying a camcorder to video him playing football. Was on her way to Liverpool to check out schools, at that time no decision had been made on which club he would go to. She also said Chelsea were interested aswell as other clubs mentioned, and they had met Patrick Viera who was very eager for the lad to join Citys academy. Delighted he opted for us.

This is100% true all over the Irish papers, front and back pages.

Well done 2 the Irish development centre and scouts Ryan mclauglin Conor masterson and soon 2 come Conor quigley young defender frm Derry keep up the good work guys

I live in dub and ive seen this kid play he is classy even at 13 yrs old he is very talented and has even played for the under 16 and under 17 team regularly.

This is about a month old.

Maneul Fernandes, its ALL OVER Turkey(LIGTV, reliable source somehow even if you talk about a player in the turkish league they imediatly now i wonder why..)
I am a Trabzonspor & Liverpool fan so i've followed the turkish league aswell.

One word: BEAST.

What i think is wehave only asked his price, nothing more.

But whenever i saw him play i was shocked that he were in the turkish league he is a really good player!

Funny thing a friend and i were talking about how sick a player he really were. I will be happy if we get him!

How sick a player? What language is this?

Back at the start of June this player was available on a free transfer,,now a fee of around 7 million is being talked about????

I could look good in the Turkish league

Wasn't good enough for Everton, certainly isn't good enough for us.

Being over the age of 35 I am assuming 'Sick' means Good? Apologies but i am not so down with the kids like I used to be!
Boysie-red

If thats the one that played for Everton then I don't want him. An awful player.

Hes not that good

Leave it out. He's (hopefully from Turkey) so can be forgiven for some slightly off grammar and English.

RedHeps

Wouldn't want him if he's sick!

Guy speaks better English than most posters! Good to have some info from abroad.

SuperDuperSuarez

Not a great signing! We have hendo, Shelby, Gerrard, aqua, Cole, Lucas they are all better than this man. Id rather go for mvila or moussa sissoko...plus he's ex toffee

10 pints of Effes in 40* = sick mate.

Perhaps you should become one of our scouts, your reports will provide a laugh.

From what I can tell after 15mins of google, h seems to have been unlucky with post injury medicals and part ownership contracts that have prevented him signing in the EPL. Could be diamond in the rough. Seems like a midfield version of Suarez in his determination and skill on the ball, passing and vision great. ED's have any opinions on the Lad?

@ "If thats the one that played for Everton then I don't want him."

Unless you've got £7million lying around the house you won't get him. What would you do with him anyway? :)

Better than the persons like adams family, stevie me and the racist

Actually Everton did want him bad, but the FA would not allow a transfer as they would not accept a 50% shared ownership dela Everton kicked up a fuss and a tried to appeal, no luck. He was a riot for them.

Have to love that 'I could look good in the Turkish League' Comment.

Wasn't it only the other year when we were pee'ing our pants at the prospect of getting Turan, the league wasn't so bad then was it.

Also he was at Everton when he was about 21-22, he's 26 now. Just think back about what you thought of Lucas when he was 21-22.

He is actually 26 years old..

This is now being reported in the british press as well. think its hogwash though, dont really know why we need an ageing midfielder

To the poster above he is only 26 and you call him him a ageing midfielder you must be only 10

Scott Sinclair will return to Swansea after the Olympics where he will talk with Laudrup regarding his future.

Sinclair's current contract expires in a year. It is suspected Sinclair may turn down a new contract.

Brendon Rogers is monitoring the situation and is keen to sign the player who could be available for about 6 million pounds. (the agreement BR made with Swansea is nulled if Sinclair refuses a new contract)

Swansea have admitted that if Sinclair does turn down a new contract, they will prefer to offload the player now to help finance other transfers.

Once again, the spuds are lurking who are also monitoring the situation with Sinclair. (as they always are with most of our transfer targets)

ED002 - You have made prior comment regarding Sinclair. Do you have any further info on a possible move?

Levans {Ed002's Note - I postulated that after the Olympics Liverpool may be interested.}

Unlike Allen, I don't rate him.

Drigan

Ten times better then rubbish Allen. {Ed023's Note - Oh good, the keyboard warriors are already in full flow this morning.}

Our transfers get funnier.

I believe that he would be an astute signing, someone that will be worth a lot more in a couple of years a la ashley young. Get him on board!

First of all, I trust Brendan Rodgers in terms of building a new team. However, he seems to be overly keen on players he have managed before (Allen, Sigurdsson, Borini, Sinclair). Anybody agree? There are loads of other top player available out there...and I'm not talking about Cavani, Higuain, etc. Having said that, all these stories might be made up by the press and have no roots in reality.

Erik_Oslo

This one's deffo ed002's.

don't even think about trying to claim it. because ed002 worked this one out along time ago.

the more the days go bye i'm starting to think your right ed.

game-over.

Sterling is better than Sinclair. Waste of money if we get him.

I would swop him for Downing.

Eds, with the problems between Spurs and City with the deal for Adebeyour, is there any chance LFC can get in with a sneaky bid? Quality finisher i think and with AC and Bellers likely to leave it might be worth a shot. Any thoughts? {Ed002's Note - Ah, the sneaky bid paradigm. The issue Spurs have is the wages. The issue Manchester City have is the player wanting the transfer fee to be given to him. It seems a mess.}

So, essentially it sounds as if he's a money grabbing renegade. It seems he hasn't changed since his Arsenal days then! Forget Adebayor, we don't need his type at Liverpool anyway.

Just gotta love ED002's use of words - paradigm brilliant, postulated good but not brilliant - obviously studies the dictionary between editing - if i wore a hat i would take it off to you Ed

He is a mercenary, he has no interest in playing for any particular club, just the money. Stay well clear of him.

Not the sort of guy I would like to see at LFC.

Even with the acknowledgement that he is a quality player, wouldnt touch him with a bargepole, guy is a merc and a ruthless one at that. Nothing but trouble.

bigbadbob

Just out of interest how can he justify the transfer fee going to him? Surely as City bought him the fee goes to them.

The Times are reporting that Bellers is close to joining Cardiff and Tony Barrett also tweeted about an hour ago that Aquilanis ill-fated spell at LFC will soon be over! Any truth in these rumours ed002?! Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - I expect both to move on.}

I was giving Rodgers a chance. But what is he doing letting the likes of Bellamy and Aqua go, but seeming to want to keep Spearing and Adam.

I will miss Bellers but Cardiff is what he wants and he deserves the chance to end his career with the club of his choice.

Liverpool are to complete the season long loan of Barcalona striker David Villa in the next 48 hours.

A front three of LF-Villa CF-Borini RF-Suarez
gerrard and lucas as DCM, all we need is a someone with flair and an eye for a pass in behind them 3 and we will be a real force to contend with, will it happen but? probs not

Supposed to be part of a deal to take Agger to Barcelona, if we can pay Villa wages.

Imagine we signed gaston ramirez and loaned david villa; we'd actually be looking for a realistic finish in the top 3

If this happens I will eat my hat.(Which, just in case, is cake shaped and made of cake!)

Villa and Kaka on loan would be a dream, and would get us contending agin for sure!

01 Aug 2012 02:21:33
Liverpool are working on star loan signing of none other then Adebayor ! Spurs not willing to match his wages that leaves Man City little option to make room for RVP. City will subsidize his massive wages and all depends on if Carroll moves on.

You heard it first here !

Nope, heard it on Twitter first and still think it is not on.

Adebayor is a poor mans Andy Carroll. What would be the point of getting hm.

Vaguely makes sense, however there's no chance in my opinion.

JFT96 COYR

I would rather have andys pony tail alone than adabayor anywhere near our team!

Benzo

Let's hope this isn't true. Wouldn't want Adebayor at Liverpool if he worked as a volunteer!

Doesnt make sense. Br wants to play pass n move football so y wud he get rid of carroll n buy a similar type of player

City want to offload him for RVP, why would they send him on loan?

01 Aug 2012 01:57:50
Quite a few sites/papers saying we have agreed a loan fee of £2m with West Ham for AC. With a view to a permanent move if they stay in the EPL.
Surely it's not true. I do hope he stays even if he is on the bench until he shows BR he is ready to up his game!

reports suggesting that liverpool could be bidding in the next few days for Hibernian starlet Pa Kujabi, The young left back is thought to be on Merseyside within the coming days.

A sensible rumour at last on here.

He won't even get a game for hibs this season never mind Liverpool! Pa kujoobie haha tht was a gd one

Why is it sensible? because he not a big name!!
Tommy

Kujabi is extremely raw to put it kindly. Watched in a few time last year and seems to have zero positional sense. A stocky little tricky winger seemingly pegged in at left back. I assume a hopeful Hibee made this one up.

You got to be kidding me, big hibs fan here, not a starlet at all, really poor, just no

This has to be a joke. He ain't good enough for Hibs. He isn't a football player - more a joker! Hibs and Liverpool fan. Graeme.

Ed...is it true that LFC have made an offer of 12 million euro for Manuel Fernandez of Besiktas? He played for Everton some seasons ago? {Ed049's Note - Not that I'm aware of.}

He was at everton on loan from Valencia, is a good but not a great player, seem to remember him being a CM in which case dont really need him

Pedro to Liverpool 22mil replacement for suarez if juve dont snap up rvp

Pedro is rubbish compaired to Suarez. The only thing Pedro will be good for is less dramas

Speedy

How would pedro possibly replace suarez?

Pedro wont stand up with suarez any day...suarez crowd pulling is second to messi and ronlado..he is the only player we have in out team to show to world...he is pure class..i wont sell him for anything less than 60 mill....thats it..

This nonsense as Suarez will be a more expensive option to juventus and we are not at all willing to sell for what they have to offer!

Benzo

Could be true

31 Jul 2012 22:16:02
Portuguese newspaper A Bola are reporting LFC are making a 12 million (euros) bid for current Besiktas former Benfica player Manuel Fernandes.

Not sure how true this is, but when he was at Benfica he was highly regarded, if i am not mistaken he has played in the EPL for Portsmouth and did fairly well.

Not sure if this type of player is needed however.

CDS

He played for everton on loan and they wanted to sign 100% of his rights and buy him but the FA wouldnt let him which was BS seeing as tevez and masch were all sold under the same kind of deal. he should be an everton tbh. anyway a decent player.

Isnt he the one that played for Everton and scored the wondergoal vs united? Hes a good player but his everton days mean we can rule him out I think

Hes a very skill full player I've watched him play quite a few times.

You forget to mention that he played for Everton twice too.

Didnt do much in his 2 seasons at everton

Played for everton

Also played for everton

Played for Valencia too. Very good footballer
