Ed's I've read that Liverpool have contacted Schalke Today regarding Kabak. Do you believe this be true or is it recycled news? Many Thanks.

{Ed002's Note - I am not aware of anything new but Ozan Kabak (CB) has been of past interest to both Manchester sides, Inter Milan and Bayern Munich but the asking price has always been see as high, although it seemed to be something between €35M and €40M it could have halved due to the pandemic and Schalke having financial issues. The interest of the Manchester sides when he left Galatasaray for Stuttgart and he hit an age where he could never qualify as Home Grown in England - and that is something Liverpool should concern themselves with as well. I am not so sure he is the starter Liverpool have been looking for, but he will be cheaper than both Llorente and Diego Carlos and could still push Joe Gomez in to the background. He is well thought of by Borussia Dortmund who wanted Tanguy Kouassi as a replacement for Toprak and Belardi but he moved to Bayern Munich resulting in their making an approach and being told he is not for sale - but they have declared an interest. Schalke say they have also been approached by Juventus and Leicester. A far better option for Liverpool than Mandi.}

If yesterday was anything too go by watching kabak he looked like a thug who wrestles in his spare time and blagged his way on the pitch not a central defender .

If Klopp wants him it's a no brainer, other than Karius and arguably Grujic he hasn't got many wrong.

Thanks Ed002. Much appreciated.

It's a matter of personal opinion I know, but Keita has been a bigger flop than Grujic. The guy hasn't even been given an opportunity to show his ability under regular season and high pressure situations, yet. Even Hoever got more opportunities than Grujic.

RA definitely, Keita has been my biggest disappointment since Harry Kewell, both excellent at their previous clubs but complete bo**ock* for Liverpool.
Grujic came as an unproven talent and I still believe he could play in the Premier, but not top four.

shughes55 to be fair to Harry Kewell he was all ready past his best when we signed him few bad injuries he never really got over. But Keita has just been a waste of time and money.

Was their interest Shaqiri from Sociedad, do you think that can be used as a make weight for Llorente. Similar to the Hoever to Wolves deal.

Apart from the Thiago deal, we have signed 2 players out of the blue. I won't be surprised if we did it again. In fact, I'm hoping that we do.

{Ed0666's Note - it really turns me on when Liverpool pull these rabbit out of hat covert transfers. Long may it continue.

Keita is being slagged and Kewell was brought into the picture.
Honestly, when those transfers happened, weren’t we fans excited?
Too bad it didn’t turned out the way we want.
There might yet be time for Keita. I just hope we do not lose too much money if it doesn’t. Benteke was not too bad a transfer in that we don’t lose money (although that one, I wasn’t excited from the beginning)
Grujic, extremely harsh to label that as a failure. I would say it is a good buy since we are likely going to make a profit out of it.

It is nigh on impossible to have a 100% success rate in the Tm, but our management team does pretty well. Naby is surely worth half of what we paid as a makeweight in a swap deal, however, with Thiago and Jota on board now, the standard in the squad has been raised considerably, which should have a really positive effect on the rest of the players.

Personally i think Ox and Naby are competing for their futures at LFC now and so need to raise their game, which i think they will do.
I love the way we squad build, allowing ample opportunity and time and then adding quality on top which increases the competition whilst remaining inclusive to those on the periphery.

I can not wait to see this side evolve.

Seville are notoriously excellent in the TM but if Carlos wants to join us and we have plenty of sales lined up, there is still a chance he could arrive, right Ed?
I think the whole 'we are broke' narrative has been partly true but also partly negotiating tactic.
a world class, proven, robust (mostly injury free) CB would really take us to another level.

{Ed002's Note - The lack of money is not a negotiating tactic.}

I've seen carlos play mainly in the Europa league where he gave away penalties like they were going out of fashion.
Not impressed with him to be honest, I would prefer if we developed what we already have instead of getting him .

Whatever about the money I disagree that Carlos would take us to another level. What level? How would he improve the team so much more than with Gomez in it? Thiago will improve the team and squad and give us new options. A new CB would only have marginal gains, if any.

How much would he cost any side mate?!

According to James Pearce we are only paying 10% of the Jota fee now, about £4 million, and we’ve only paid £5 million upfront for Thiago. So we’ve added Jota and Thiago this season for £9 million.
That’s excellent business.

How good is that! Both top buys. Loving how we are doing these deals. Its like leasing these players yr on yr. Can we lease koulibally now as well? 🤣🤣🤣.

FYI, Jota beat Trent in the ePremier League Invitation Final - so we now have a champion in eSport.

It's amazing business and and Edward's masterclass. However, how many fans will forget that we are still paying these deals off in future windows and complain that FSG aren't backing Klopp with any money or can't understand that we can win prize money but can't spend it.

Agree11 Disagree0

Trying not to put a negative spin on things but it's worth considering that paying such a small amount up front might have a negative effect of future transfer windows, the still has to be paid somewhere down the line and it could potentially be worse financially next Summer (no gate receipts, circa £84 million of the bottom line) . Just saying like.

It's a fair point about future finances, but with this squad right now we might not need anyone next summer.
We've assembled a well equipped squad.

Unless we have any horrendous injuries or big out goings, I expect the next 12 months to be very quiet in terms of transfers, but that's okay. The only thing we really need now is a CB. We've strengthened the attack with Minamino and Jota, and our MF is looking pretty stacked with the likes of Grujic and Thiago. Defense is pretty good and we got cover for Robbo. All in all looking like a very well rounded squad.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Grujic won't be part of it - he is one of they players who has to leave.}

With deals like this. I think they are taking into account C.V.. Sala. mane will be gone next year and jota hopefully with fill the boots. IMO dembele will be looked at as a loan to see if he can fill the gap.

The likely pattern is that over next few years we will continue to strenghten our financial growth and this summer needed us to manage our spending efficiently so the fact we could still add 2 top players and not need to pay any substantial amount over next 12 months is the best deal possible. Surely we won't be as restricted in future years to struggle with paying those instalments that will hopefully turn out to be bargain buys as those 2 players bring us the quality that we often see clubs spending much more to add similar rated quality.

Can see Sarr being brought in as well at some point, in prep for the boys to move on, which would be totally fair after 4 years good service. I wonder if Mbappe would dare choose us over Real.
