Just wow lfc! 2 months ago we dreamt Oblak or Alisson. We got Alisson and not Butland, Navas or the geezer we can’t spell from Barcelona.

The Ox injury must have freaked the LFC people when they dealt with Fekir's medical report.

Serious question, was Pederson a sought after keeper before City signed him? I'd never heard of him to be honest!

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Jul 2018 16:15:17
That's because his name is Ederson. Not Pederson.

{Ed002's Note - To answer the previous question, Ederson was very sought after.}

Away from the Alisson talk. Can and Ed's give a view on Origis situation? Is there interest in him?

I know he is being given a chance at pre season but so far I am not impressed. Nothing against him but I feel he needs to find new pastures.

Is it likely another loan or could a permenant deal be done.

Believable4 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - The intention right now appears to be he stays but I suspect Southampton could lookto him over Ings.}

19 Jul 2018 21:38:55
Only a friendly at Blackburn I know. but apparently it was the Naby Keita show in second half.
What another great player we've signed.

I have never been convinced by Origi, he had a purple patch towards the end of the 2015/ 16 season where he looked unplayable and scored twice against Dortmund and against Everton but he hasn't hit that level since. I'd be surprised if he stays.

Agree8 Disagree4

19 Jul 2018 21:46:24
Yeah He was great bud. Played higher up than he has previously and was able to use his quality well.

Agree7 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 21:49:34
It was mate I just watched it keita oozes class, winning the ball naturally and slipping the forwards in sturridge should have had couple more, an onto sturridge it's horrible too see how good he is and not benefitting from his quality I hope he can stay fit but we all know we wouldn't put our house and bird on it .

Agree12 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 22:03:22
His through balls were quality throughout the half, only a pre season yes but great signs!

Agree5 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 22:12:00
House and bird. like it hails.

Agree6 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 23:05:49
I've said it before. Even though he's been playing a box to box role, he can easily play the Coutinho role as well as the holding midfield role. I'm not getting carried away but he's shown his versatility. Hopefully, we sign Fekir but if we don't we'll have Keita supplying the through balls for the top 3 with Fabinho holding and Henderson/ Milner fighting for that last spot.

Agree2 Disagree3

20 Jul 2018 00:55:23
Would be happy to sell Origi and Ings, keeping Sturridge, Solanke, Brewster gives us more than enough striker options.
Just watched the Blackburn game in full and yes PLEASE Naby Keïta!
Boy oh boy does he look like a player, and watching him really made me feel like we don't necessarily need Fekir. I mean, Naby's so dynamic and creative, and more things, but yeah I guess I think he'll be great.
Even Markovic made me consider whether we already have backup for Sadio, and that's me going cock-a-hoop now. :)

Agree5 Disagree1

20 Jul 2018 06:39:10
Origi simply isn't good enough. Never has been.

I'd rather see him go and get first team football elsewhere and get his career going again. He has shown that with regular football he's a far better player and realistically he won't get that with Liverpool because he isn't of a high enough standard.

Great attitude but he needs to go.

Agree3 Disagree3

20 Jul 2018 07:26:47
@Beddoerocks.
A loan to Burnley would be good for him and his confidence. He’d probably get into double figures and play 30+ premier league games. It would help keep my local team in the league as well.

Agree2 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 08:04:10
keeping Sturridge is a complete waste of time. 3 years in a row we say what a great option he is off the bench. The problem is by the time he gets match fit he picks up an injury and we go back to square one. better focussing on solanke, origi and brewster. the quicker we get them up to speed the better.

Agree7 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 08:12:39
It was only Blackburn.

Agree1 Disagree3

20 Jul 2018 08:16:09
Agree Swishcleaner, gutted for Sturridgge but having one of our highest earners out of action so often is like burning stacks of £20 notes. Time to move him on.

Agree6 Disagree0

20 Jul 2018 15:34:38
No one's ever questioned Sturridge's ability. We're all aware of he's injury prone though. Does anybody else think that he could be used as an impact sub. Less games may make him less injury prone. He may settle for that role at this stage of his career.

Apparently Alisson will take the number 1 shirt at Liverpool upon completion which has been reluctantly offered by Karius. The club will announce those of you that have bought your Karius 1 shirt can have a refund. The club shop has brought in extra staff to cope with the returns.

No Gini in the squad again tonight ed. Can we assume its because he is most likely leaving? There are other players however in the squad who could also leave, doesn't make much sense mate.

Is the something else in it?

Believable0 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - he is considering a move.}

19 Jul 2018 19:30:12
LFC website stated he had a minor muscle strain. Hope he doesn't leave. I want the best for him but I really like him and his work ethic on the pitch.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - sorry I misread the op, I just saw the bit about him possibly leaving. I never noticed the bit about him not playing. It is not related, he is considering whether to leave or not but it is not stopping him playing. I would assume the injury is the actual reason he is out of the squad, they have no reason to lie about it.}

19 Jul 2018 19:33:33
Cheers ed. As I thought, be a shame to see him go but I guess game time is the issue with our new arrivals.

Milner and Lallana expected to stay for now I guess?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - Lallana would like to move on but interest has died due to last season's injury problems.}

20 Jul 2018 12:14:02
Yeah Kent, Ward and Ings were missing because they're on their way out but Gini has a muscle strain and is training separately. I believe Cocu (who managed him at PSV) would like to take him to Fenerbahce. I'd understand if he chooses to leave but his value has definitely increased since we took him from Newcastle, so should get 30+mil in for him.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Fenerbahce will be looking for a loan with an option to buy - but they don't have that sort of money.}

20 Jul 2018 13:56:58
Hmm, I see Ed002. Thanks for the info.
Well then, that's not a very tempting offer.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 17:27:37
Hi Ed's, assuming Ward leaves for Leicester, and I doubt mingolet will hang around as 3rd choice, are there any older experienced goalkeepers we are looking at to come in as 3rd choice.

Thanks.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed001's Note - I don't know off the top of my head. Things have changed a lot recently and it is difficult to get info within the club, so it is a case of finding out when someone is moved for these days. At least for now.}

20 Jul 2018 10:26:18
Happy enough to have Karius, Grabara and Kelleher for the bench. If we do sign someone it should be for free or very cheap. Boaz Myhill is out of contract, although he might actually want to play football.

19 Jul 2018 14:32:43
I'm pretty happy with this transfer window, think we should stop now as I'm not seeing where Fekir fits really, regardless of how good he may or may not be, and don't want to have a £70m player sat on the bench ahead of our promising youngsters.

Agree6 Disagree22

19 Jul 2018 15:25:37
Very impressed with FSG. Supporting the manager to the hilt, showing ambition to play with the big boys in the business and definitely increasing their risk appetite.

Agree8 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 15:30:18
Now and then Juicer?
They've always backed their manager with money. Even when that manager thinks it's a good idea to splash 40+ million quid on Christian Benteke. Or a similar amount on Markovic + Balotelli. They must be delighted that their money is actually being put to good use now.

Agree19 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 16:47:31
FSG have rebuilt Anfield, brought in a top manager and have backed that manager, have now built a top quality squad and the management structure has also improved immensely off the pitch. FSG genuinely want success and I think it won’t be far away. Can’t wait for the new season go start.

19 Jul 2018 21:07:44
Basically in a nut shell just to elaborate on what Ed’s sed (the Jurgenator) is that Melwood is just not up to scratch like most of the top clubs in the premiership, so FSG are updating Kirkby and we are moving away from melwood into a very modern and up to date complex. We will be sharing with the all the academy players under one big happy sunny roof😁.

Agree2 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 11:40:23
Danny Ward off to Leicester possibly for 12 million pounds?
Didn't see that one coming. Good fee for someone who barely played for us, but an exciting adventure for Wardy who will be 1st choice if Schmeichel goes to Chelsea.
Probably means Karius stays as backup to Alisson.

We're losing our number one goalkeeper to Leicester.

From being 3rd choice to being No.1 and now a possible transfer in a matter of few days. Things change fast in football.

Agree11 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 12:20:45
Sounds like Roma and Chelsea will be fighting it out for Kasper Schmeichel now.

A shame about Ward. Klopp really has messed him about and stifled his development. He should have been sent back on loan last year, after helping Hudderfield to the Premier league, but Klopp decided he needed to have 3 goalkeepers, because clearly two wasn't enough.

Not like Ward played very much, a very bad decision from Klopp in my opinion and another broken promise. He really does have a habit of this, which is a little worrying, because you can gain a reputation by acting like this.

I only hope the lad goes on to have a decent campaign in a new setting. I think Ward will turn out to be a decent buy by Leicester, and, fingers crossed, Liverpool's goalkeeping nightmare will be ended by the arrival of Alisson. Great keeper, little concerned by his habit of parrying the ball back into dangerous areas but that will hopefully be eliminated by some regular coaching.

Still, with or without a CAM coming in, what a team we have this season. Hopefully we can go and win a trophy because it has been so long since I have seen our side celebrate a cup final. This might be the season we do though, I will keep my fingers crossed.

Agree5 Disagree10

19 Jul 2018 12:27:47
Just read that and was about to ask Ed if it's true. Would be a very good move for him.

So Tim Krul or Boaz Myhill for 3rd keeper?
Or bring back Cavalieri? :)

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - I have been hinting about it for a couple of days.}

19 Jul 2018 12:37:35
Good luck to the lad. He deserves to be playing especially after Klopp has messed him around so much!

Agree6 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 12:55:30
Effectively Klopp added a couple of million to Danny Ward's value by "making him Liverpool's number 1" for a few days.

That's business.

Agree13 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 13:46:46
LFC-S+MANGO Roma apparently had an agreement with PSG for Alphonse Areola in place incase Alisson deal went through so looks like if Schmeichel is to move it would be to go to Chelski rather than replace Alisson.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 13:52:26
If we can get 15 million odd for migs that's 27 off alisson's fee already.

That leaves karius and garabara as back up.

Thats good business indeed.

Good luck to ward. I hope kasper leaves and he gets his chance to show what he can do in the prem.

Agree12 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 14:19:59
So did Klopp actually come out publicly announcing Ward as number one? Missed that interview. Any links, be an interesting watch.

Otherwise is everyone getting this Ward no.1 info from the same set of journos, twitter etc that I see always slammed down as utter bollox? Then becoming a super keyboard warrior ready and waiting to type ‘embarrassing’ as much as possible.

Agree7 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 14:39:17
Man, how bad is going from Courtois (spelling) to Schmeichel? Chelski getting ripped apart!

Hope Becker lives up to his price. I really wanted to see Ward in action at the big stage. Hope he gets his chance in the EPL!

Agree8 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 14:57:00
I know mcfurgen, I’d like to see this interview too. For all we know Klopp said Ward will be given the chance to fight for number 1 shirt. Which is fine. If Ward never wanted to play for Liverpool why did he sign a contract with us? Posters are always complaining that our young players don’t get their chances. Maybe Klopp brought him off loan and gave him a chance and he wasn’t good enough?

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 15:20:05
Really disappointed that Ward is going. We should have kept him and given him a chance.
It should be Migs who we should sell on.
Ward is much younger and can still learn.
Migs has had plenty of chances under 2 managers and has rarely been up to the very top end of the Premier League.

For me this is a real bad move by the club and Klopp.

Migs should have been sold or even used as part exchange for AB. The Italian league would suit him much better and away from premier league spotlight.

Now let's see if we can change the goal keeping coaches!

Agree2 Disagree4

19 Jul 2018 15:37:13
Explains why he wasn't in the squad against Bury.

Agree3 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 15:49:09
But what do you do if nobody wants to by mignolet?

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 15:48:40
I don't understand what all the hue and cry about Klopp telling Ward he has the chance of being his Number 1, is all about (regardless of whether it is documented as true or not) . As manager, what is he supposed to do? Tell him that "listen you're stuck in the No. 2 or 3 position here for life"?

I've never managed a sports team in my life but I run businesses (with a whole bunch of employees) since 36 years. And the number 1 lesson I've learnt about getting performance out of, and retaining, employees, is to keep motivating them and keep showing them the next step up that is there for them to take. Aspiration to move up in life motivates everybody! And I'm sure it's like that in all team sports where squads of players are involved.

So what if Klopp told Ward "you have the chance to be my Number 1"? I don't see it is a lie. It's logical and motivational man-management. And Klopp seems to be a level headed and fair guy, when handing out starting jobs. Otherwise TAA and Robertson would not be where they are. Clyne got injured, TAA (and Gomez) took over and they were deemed good enough to keep their places, Clyne wasn't. Moreno started the season last year, until Robertson took over and showed he deserved to keep his place. And after Mignolet got demoted, if Karius had underperformed or gotten injured, Ward too would have gotten his shot, I'm sure of it. No need to demonize Klopp as some kind of promise-breaking ogre. (I agree that Ward should not have been in the team last year, because he is way better than a No.3, and should have been loaned out, but that's a different matter alltogether) .

Agree12 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - It is to do with him repeatedly saying things like this - he has done it over and over. He should simply shut up about it.}

19 Jul 2018 15:49:09
But what do you do if nobody wants to by mignolet?

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jul 2018 16:22:44
Surely the Belgian reserve keeper will be in demand, if the price is right. Those suggesting either Ward or Karius for our backup have not considered what a 25 year old player needs in their career.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 Jul 2018 16:41:31
ArAy1969, I agree with every single word you have written. Excellent post.

Agree6 Disagree2

19 Jul 2018 16:28:43
Yes Ed002, I've read before where you have stated that he should stop saying it. But do you mean not saying it out in the press or the public domain, or do you mean that he should stop saying it to players because he is lying and has no intention of ever trying to deliver what he is suggesting? Wanted your clarification, if you don't mind.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - He should stop saying any such things in the public domain. It makes him look rather stupid.}

19 Jul 2018 17:11:16
The problem is that Klopp has made promises to players many times before and has let them down on numerous occasions. If he keeps doing this then he will gain a reputation as a liar, something he and the club will not want. Players will be hesitant to join us if they learn of Klopp's tendancy to promise and never stay committed to those promises. Would you work for someone who had a tendancy to behave as Klopp has in this regard?

Listen, I love Klopp as much as the next Liverpool fan but I am not blind to his antics. Klopp has outdone expectations, a Champions League final was never expected last season, but there are areas he can improve. Hopefully that will come with time.

Either way, it has been a great transfer window, regardless if no one else comes, but I just hope we don't have more cases of Grujic's and Ward's, who have been let down by the manager.

Agree1 Disagree7

19 Jul 2018 17:45:10
LFC-S Mango, do you not think it is possible that Klopp made conditional promises to players such as Grujic and Ward who have let themselves down by not performing in training, thereby foregoing the opportunity to feature in the first team? Just a thought.

19 Jul 2018 17:14:48

The more I think about it, the less likely I see Fekir happening. Feel like Keita/ Shaqiri/ Mane/ Milner will play as the "10".

My only hope is that the 10 shirt remains free for Fekir!

Agree1 Disagree5

19 Jul 2018 10:48:33
With France getting to the final. I think it gives us a few weeks to assess it, as with Klopp given players 3 weeks off. Fekir wouldn't join us in training till into August regardless. As the window nears the end Lyon if want to sell may get very nervous and consider the restructuring of the deal (if there is truth in that) I think once Alisson deal is concluded. I think the priority will be to shift 5 or 6 players out the way. Exciting times.

Haha Ed002 do you think we have finally learned our lesson in regards to transfers. We seem to have kept transfers a lot closer to our chests and not leak out stuff as easy. Some of the links like Dybala and Asensio are comical. It’s almost as if someone from inside has leaked it to have a laugh at the English press. Bit of misdirection go fool the masses.

{Ed002's Note - Apart from the return to Fabinho the transfers have been in the public domain. Liverpool said nothing about Dybala etc.. It is simply the fans being easy to tease.}
