Heavily linked with Anthony of ajax complete baller in the Dutch league but untested elsewhere. Personally I think he looks suarez levels and is completely worth it at 30 million would evolve our squad to levels we haven't witnessed its possible as mane, taki, ox, origi could move on and its looking more likely salah will play out his contract or be sold .

Would he be a Salah replacement? Haven't seen much of him but for some reason I've it in my head he's a left footer who plays on the right.

Yes mane he is exactly that but can play either side and in midfield . The South American connection would really be taking shape .

{Ed0666's Note - that was some finish from mane today wow

Thanks Hailstones đź‘Ť.

Yes ed 0666 mane's goal was delicious, I think he plays centre forward for senegal very well an in bobby an jotas absence mane could evolve into that position he can hold the ball up well and harass.

{Ed0666's Note - he was interchanging with Diaz today which I was happy about also

Ed0666 I said before I see the team yesterday I wanted to see Diaz Mane and Salah start to see how they play together and a goal each speaks for its self.
The interchanging from them 3 will be a total nightmare to play against because all 3 are so dangerous from all 3 positions I think that is are best front 3 as it stands and with all the goals Jota has got this season he can count himself unlucky but he does not link up as good as them 3.

{Ed0666's Note - I have no problems with mane taking Bobby’s place because him my opinion he’s will do a better job there than he would on the left. And that’s taking nothing away from Bobby who has been a lion for us but he’s more like a cat at the moment. There’s no doubts about Salah who I’ve run out of superlatives for. The man is just a genius and gives me more pleasure than any other footballer I’ve ever seen (apart from maybe the king, Digger Barnes, Bobby Baggio & Zizou) but Diaz is the one that may just well be the new Anfield Idol for years to come. He’s fit in seamlessly and I’d like to see those three play more together and Jota to be first sub. Maybe this will give Mane a new lease of life also? It would be remiss of me not to say at this juncture the construction of all three goals was simply breathtaking!

It would be difficult to bench Jota the rate he's recently scoring at.

Great players on a certain wavelength (world class) can play together and diaz has given us a spark of excitement and reinvigorated our squad . Bobby can still be an important squad player if he sticks around .

Jota gets way too much disrespect. He’s second top scorer in the league. Think of the players he’s above, Kane Ronaldo Son Mane Sterling Fernandes Vardy Bowen…
IMO Diogo is undroppable in current form.

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed0666's Note - I’m one of his biggest detractors and I’m owning the criticism. If Mane plays well in the middle he’ll have an issue deposing him because Diaz is doing exactly what Jota should be doing and putting the ball in the net. Saying that I’m ecstatic we have a guy that knows how to put the ball in the net like Jota to call upon.

Thing is LiverpoolFC8 Jota is now currently injured and the 3 in possession scored yesterday. We now have what we've always wanted super back up, no scratch that super options. 5 solid options for 3 places.

Think mane will leave coz can't see Jota being dropped if he keeps on scoring goals.

Player of that Calibre who has potential to fight for golden boot will never accept to sit on the bench. Unless he's scoring rate takes a huge hit.

Jota is not aesthetically pleasing on the eye, whereas diaz is technically gifted and flows past people for fun, but as we all know jota is deadly which is perfect for us . I agree if mane could evolve into a striker it could give him a fresh chapter in his liverpool career .

Hailstones mate even if mane evolves as a striker whom will he displace? Like jota can't see him accepting to play 2nd fiddle.

The fact that we have an abundance of riches upfront now should be seen as a real positive. I think jota has been great and I can’t see us getting rid of him when he is viable goal threat upfront. The same applies to mane, of course salah, and now Diaz. If you add in firmino, that’s some considerable options we have. I think it allows us to be able to be more tactical upfront. I don’t see jota leaving because he’s young and has so much potential to be better than he is already, but I can see at least one of mane, firmino and salah leaving. With mane and firmino, it will boil down to game time and age (they aren’t getting any younger) . With salah, whilst he is the same age as mane and firmino, I can see him still banging in 20+ goals for another 2/ 3 seasons at least (something I don’t think you are going to get from mane and especially firmino), so for him it will be money (because it doesn’t look like his contract issue is being resolved any time soon, although let’s hope it is as I would prefer to keep him as he is truly world class) . I have not mentioned the more peripheral players like minamino and origi only because they aren’t really in the same league as the players already mentioned, and I think we will try to sell them in the summer anyway.

I’d expect us to want more than three attackers over the course of a season - in no particular order Salah, Mane, Jora, Diaz and Firmino being on the books next season wouldn’t be the worst thing that could happen.

21 Feb 2022 08:26:22
Why would you not want any of Bobby, Sadio, or Diogo coming off the bench over, oh let's say Divock (even though he deserves a statue), Kaide (though I think he will be mega in a few years when the time comes) or more to the point anyone we'd have to buy in for depth?

I know wages are a factor but you'd hope we keep these players on the books.

WDW agreed and if we win trophies and rotate they will be happy enough for now.

Agree0 Disagree0

21 Feb 2022 09:56:56
Yes in an ideal world we would want all to stay forget abt wages for a second and ask yourself.

Why would Jota who's 2nd top scorer in the league and a potential golden boot winner will accept to sit on the bench or play second fiddle?

Why would Mane who gets made when substituted will accept to sit on the bench and play 2nd fiddle at this stage of he's career?

Think only Bobby would be happy coming from the bench can't see Jota or Mane accepting that role.

There are 2 reasons a player will stay even if they are rotated regularly.
1. Money
2. Trophies

Anybody here think Mahrez or Sterling like being benched when they could walk into any team in England other than Liverpool? They tolerate being subbed on or off, because they've won several medals in their time at City.

We should strive for those levels of competition. It's the only way to challenge on 4 fronts. Having said that, i think age should be considered and Mane or Firmino should move on to make way for a player with a part to play in the long term ambitions of the club. Maybe it's Gordon or maybe we dip into the market. But having 3 forwards in their 30's next year would be irresponsible financially in my opinion.

@Kopforever, I understand the drawbacks for players who want to be a starter who aren’t starting but when was the last time we had all of our squad fit and ready to go? At the moment, as an example, Bobby and Diogo aren’t fit. Before that (admittedly for a variety is f reasons) Bobby, Mo and Sadio weren’t available. I’d imagine it would be pretty rare for all five to remain fully fit / available for an extended period of time and, God forbid they do all remain fit it is probably a burden O could live with as a fan.

Yes but Klopp won't take a risk thinking they might no be available at the same time. Coz even if 4 of them are available can be a problem coz Jota Salah and Mane are starters unless Diaz is happy to operate from the bench majority of the games. There's a reason mane was straight out in 1st 11 after returning from AFCON coz him and Salah don't like to sit on the bench and then you've jota who's scoring rate is unbelievable and a potential golden boot winner.
