Ed, I know this is old stuff, but if llorente does move this summer or next where do you see him going. I would still take him to LFC in a heartbeat? {ed's note - I would expect him at Barca to be honest.}
********
What happened to the Madrid deal Ed?

{Editor's Note: There was no formal deal - but the press overplayed it. However, I am not so sure he will go to Barcelona.}

If Kenny is appointed at the end of the season, Turan is a target.

Chelsea's interest in Turan is a way of playing games with Athletico over Aguero. Athletico need the cash from Aguero and have basically said to Chelsea, 'Make us an offer we can't refuse'. . Turan is in Athletico's sights as a replacement and then rumours pop up that Chelsea are interested in Turan. . really!

Mafia boy is in the mood for buying super stars not players like Turan, and Torres is at Chelski hoping for his long lost pal to show up. . my source is HP.

Liverpool are lining up a £9m summer swoop for Barcelona's Dutch midfielder Ibrahim Afellay, who is said to be frustrated at his lack of first-team action.

Could we not of signed him on a free before going to Barcelona? Seems like bad business to me

Actually he said in the dutch newspapers not to long ago that he loved the proffesionalism and attitude of players and he loves being at the club and knows he will get more first team action.

so i doubt your info is correct. but people change there mind often so . .

@ {Editor's Note: If someone asks for an opinion they will be given it. Liverpool have never expressed any interest in Alexis Sanchez and have certainly never made an approach for the player. Chelsea came close to signing the player in the winter after a number of discussions. Manchester United have declared and interest as have Barcelona, Inter Milan and Juventus. I have never said that his "heart is set on joining" any one particular club. Sanchez will not be moving to Liverpool.

The situation regarding Arda Turan is different, and I have explained it as best I can. The player is a self-confessed Liverpool supporter. He was not available for a transfer in last summer or in January but may be in the coming summer. All I have pointed out before is that Atletico Madrid have identified him as a player they would like to bring in if Sergio Aguero leaves. This is well documented. other clubs, such as Bayern Munich and Manchester United may well also be looking. So I have explained that if Liverpool want the player they will need bid against other clubs and offer a deal to attract the player. I will give an honest opinion each time I am asked but many of the questions are coming from dreamers and those playing Football Manager or other games.}

-----------------------------------------------
Much appreciation for your honest and illuminating response, even though I must admit I'm appalled to hear that we've never shown any interest in the player ( Sanchez), let alone make a move for him. Sure, we cannot sign every player, but surely those we most need, can afford and have a fairly good chance of getting we should pursue?

I don't get this. We need two class wingers (Johnson and Sanchez). We could've struck a deal for Sanchez - who'll be as good as Ronaldo - for the summer, but no, we're after Young. Unbelievable! (Q1- Any idea why no interest in Sanchez, ed?)

But I'll let that rest. We'll never get the boy.
As regards Turan, if LFC show a strong interest in him and offer reasonable dough and Turan wants to come (as he does) think he'll come. United, Atleti etc will be taken out of the equation. The player will get his wish.

But personally, the one player I'd want manning our flanks is Johnson; absolute class of a player, best winger in the Prem. At his age, and under a proper manager, he's gonna boss the game for years to come.
I feel that him and LFC are match made in heaven. The lad should be doing it in Red in front of the Kop. A Johnson and Sterling= best wingers in EPL and up there worldover; doing it with: England's best cf Carroll, Uruguay's best forward Suarez, Brazil's best forward Hulk, man! It's h*ken destiny! Ok, ok, am dreaming, sorry.

But seriously, that would be some team. And I really think we have to sign another class forward summer. Hulk would be my preferance.
Though our forward line would seem quite formidable as it is, strength in depth is of the essence. The absence of Carroll and Suaraez in some games is testimony to this.

So Carroll, Suarez and Hulk would sound a lot better than the first two along with Kuyt, Ngog, Jovanovic.
Too much quantity.
And folks, I believe Hulk is defo an attainable target for us, but, as in the case of Sanchez, doubt if we've any interest in him. (Q2 What's your two cents on this, ed?)

In the middle, although happy with Lucas' improvement, still think he falls short. I'd like to see a hybrid of Alonso and Masch. Good tackling and battling, and good hold-up play, distribution and creativity. For all his improvement, fact is Lucas can't win the ball as well as Masch and doesn't possess even an eigth of Alonso's creative juices.

Defensively, well, the latter may well be out of the question but I'd be happy with Cissokho and Baines. Very good players either of who would do a terrific job for us. At a massive team like us and with a coach like Kenny, I think Cissokho would follow Evra's footsteps. And Baines might also move to the next level. The beauty of it is that they're both young.

Centre back-wise, I say don't buy. Shift Kelly there to partner Agger as backed-up by Wilson, Carra and Wisdom. (But if we do sign a cb, Richards would be my man) Buy a right back who'll compete against Johnson. Don't know who, good rbs are few and far between. (Q3- Any suggestions, ed? Also, what would the odds be on Cissokho and Baines?)

All in all, I think we nee 6/ 7, all of them good enought to go straight into the starting eleven. We might also look to bringing in a couple of youths like Chamberlain, Wickham etc.

But the two most pressing areas are lb and the wings.
Two proper wingers coupled with the jack-of-all-trades that is Marveaux and two left backs ( Cissokho and Baines or the former and Taiwo on a free)

I'm out. Ciao, folks.

{Editor's Note: Both Manchester United and Chelsea had reservations about Sanchez' ability to withstand the physical rigours of the EPL. Perhaps Liverpool thought the same. You also need to realise that however good a player is, clubs will only look to players who will fit in and improve their existing squads. Many of the fans don't appreciate this because they are stuck in a fantasy football mode. So Sanchez and Hazard appear not to be viable options for Liverpool. Arda is a viable option but it not simply a case of a player coming running because he is a Liverpool supporter. His agent is pushing the EPL as a destination primarily for financial reasons; football wise it may not be his best option.}

It is Standard Chartered who are pushing for the Honda signing as they can see the obvious appeal of shirt sales but they have friends agreeing with them in high places at Anfield. The final decision will be a footballing one though which is how it should be.

This is to Editor's note

Mate, there's something I don't quite get about you.
When some ( LFC ) fans bring up the possibility of signing Alexis Sanchez, you always dismiss the talk, saying how the player has his heart set on a move to United.

Yet, you steadfastly maintain that Arda Turan to Liverpool will be a tad difficult as Atletico are interested him, even though, on the one hand, the Turk has publicly confessed his wish to join, and, on the other, LFC's interested in him.
How does that one work, mate?

Further, you say that he has Chelsea, Juve etc as his other options. Well, why wouldn't he have Liverpool as an option? We're a massive club on the up that will, come the start of next season, be as strong as the best there is and challenging.
If we can meet Udinese's price, why the heck can't we get Sanchez.

I know you might think it silly, but we did get Sterling and Shelvey in spite of the so-called best place for youngsters the Emirates, didn't we?
Didn't Portugal's best midfielder Meireles leave Porto, a club challenging for top honours in Portugal and certain to be in the CL next season, for us.

Didn't Suarez chooses us over Champions Leaguests Spurs? Didn't Llorente, when revealing that we in fact DID try move in for him, intimate that he'd've been open to the move?

Mate, why do you always have to downplay our chances? I know it's your opinion, and I respect that, sir, I really do, it's just that I feel you sometimes . . I don't know.

It's like your making out that we're a team in regression and everything centres around the CL. I understand that players do want to play in Europe's premier club competition. But really, is that the sole deciding factor? If Chelsea/ Arsenal drop out of the top 4 places, would Kun Aguero, Lukaku, Hazard reject them for Spurs just because the latter are in it?

Always, always you're inclined to dismiss our chances when it comes to the cream of the crop. I don't know where to put that down to. That ( if you're an LFC ) get your hopes up or you're just like this.

I'd be curious as to your response.

I agree. I think there wud be a boom in shirt sales aswell. One of the eds said that athletico only wanted honda if kun aguero left. what other clubs do you know are intrested? or isit just us?
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
I read from a lot of reliable articles that Arsenal were very interested in Honda. I think that one of the Ed's said that Turan could be a replacement for Aguero? I didn't see anything on Athletico going for Honda. Hopefully Ed can put me straight?

Blair Mayne YNWA {ed's note - they signed a replacement ready for Aguero to leave last summer, Turan was just what they intended to use the money for. Most of it would have paid down club debts slightly.}
