The Fernando Torres rumours come from the fact that Llorente's real name is Fernando Llorente Torres.
We will try for Llorente in Jan, not Torres, but I don't think he'll sign for us.

They dont. They come from the fact that Damian Comolli said a couple of days ago they he was planning to bring torres back this summer before him and the king got the chop

No, also wrong. The rumours come from the fact that some tabloid printed a story saying that Comolli was approached by a 'senior player' asking for Torres to be re-signed. That's the same as saying "A source close to the club...." - pure BS

Do we really want him? 1 goal every 4 games is pretty garbage for a striker, is it not?

Walcott and Jovetić are are priorities in January. Just passing on what I've heard. YNWA.

Jovetic has signed pre contract with Man City for next season! {Ed002's Note - No he hasn't.}

From what ive gathered from this site a lot of rumours are just bull why do people or so called liverpool fans wasting their time putting up so much rubbish regarding what they apparently have heard .lfc have always and i mean always conducted transfers behind closed doors so with this in mind and im not calling you a liar i just find it all a bit boring .we cannot afford any large transfers nor are we likely to be of any interest to players if we cannot offer champions league football ,fans need a reallity check lfc are no longer a football giant our history goes before us but that is history,we got rid of the King to early and i dont doubt BR will do a good job but the owner is a shrewd business man and is in this to make profit hence the saving of 800k per week and no major signing nor will there be come jan we are in the rubbish

What will happen...
-Rodgers will be given one season at the very,very least.
-Henderson and Downing will be sold ASAP. (Obviously because of Allen and Sterling)
-Suso and Yesil will be one of the many reserve players that will play against Young Boys.
-Come January things will be good. Trust me.

Agreed mate, although we are struggling a bit at the mo there's loads to be positive about. So many good young players to come into the team and with them being blooded now next year things should be looking much better. And I really believe in Brendon too, top bloke.

Henderson will not be sold.

Just opinions, nothing more but I suppose we are all entitled to them.
CR

Henderson and Downing won't leave

Sorry. It appears that Ajax weren't willing to offer as much money as Liverpool. However, it did look as if there might be an agreement with Ajax until Liverpool stepped in. The actual rumours that I mentioned came from Ajax fans in the know. Sorry for the confusion MATES.

So, you try to obliterate the character of one of our signings because of hearsay?!

Bit of MOTD fever, any chance Benzema is unhappy at RM and is secretly a huge Liverpool fan and would jump at the chance to join us in January? Ed? Cheers pal

ToonRed {Ed001's Note - sorry mate, we missed our chance to get him when Higuain got injured.}

For only 26m at the time as well.

we could have had suarez, benzema, carroll. {Ed063's Note - It would have been Benzema instead of Carroll mate. What a partnership that would have been!}

If higuain returns to form and they target
Cavani ,then maybe benzema would be available..

Is he actually a fan?

Why would he leave Real Madrid

Eds or Macca, how much activity do you think there will be in January? Do you think we will add much to the squad because we all know the problems up front but the whole squad looks thin, hardly any quality back up
cheers and thanks in advance
Neville {Ed001's Note - January is never a good time to be buying players, I doubt much will happen.}

Don't get me wrong , I am a supporter of Brendan. I would just like to know what is new about his tactics and so called "system".

18 Sep 2012 20:49:22
Hi eds. First off I just want to agree with Macca that Rodgers needs to be given time (at least a season) to get his methods working at full flow. The 2nd half evidence away at Sunderland was encouraging & that's with a threadbare squad.

We could of course do with some reinforcements in January & I'm dying to know how highly you rate our chances of buying Walcott & Sturridge out of the remaining months of their contracts. Neither are happy or starting matches where they are & FSG do love young English players. Chances out of 10 it will happen? ;)

Much Thanks,
Redkev {Ed001's Note - unfortunately I think there is a chance we will try and sign them, even though neither are good enough.}

What concerns me is that every club know we need a striker or two, they will hold us to ransom for their players.
Lee73

If we do try and sign them doesn't that show his judgement is wrong regarding the players and shouldn't that make us worry long term {Ed001's Note - why? Only he knows how he intends to use them, he might well be able to teach them how to play in his system. Only time can tell if his judgement is correct or not, but you can't decide that because we are showing interest in 2 players not rated by me. After all, even the great Shankly and Paisley made a mistake or two in the transfer market.}

Of course Rodgers needs time, and not just one season.

It's pointless sacking the manager every Summer then wondering why the new manager has little or no transfer budget.
Getting rid of managers and acquiring new ones doesn't come cheap.

Well they can't hold us to ransom for players in the last 6 months of their contracts. With our financial constraints we can't afford to pay a ransom anyway so Walcott & Sturridge are probably the best we can afford (still gutted that the money wasn't put up for Dempsey btw) so rate them or not I think those two would be better than nothing or Joe Cole (same thing really). Redkev

I think its a bit unfair to say they're not good enough, maybe they're just not good enough until BR gets to work with them?

Just like Scott Sinclair wasn't 'good enough' at Chelsea, or Gylfi Sigurdson wasn't 'good enough' at Hoffenheim?

BR made them better players, why can't he do the same with these 2?

To all fellow reds,visit channel 4 website if you want to see a piece of absolute superb journalism,i dont know his name but the guy deserves an honurary scousehood for what he does to son of satan mckenzie,if last weeks verdict was justice,this has to be the afterglow,to see that ******* exposed like the toe rag he is made me smile,i know understand what irony means.To hear mckenzie squirm out and i quote just let me close my own door as the jounalist keeps asking him what he has to say to the people of liverpool is magical,long may the power of positive journalism stand above front page lies and propaganda.ynwa channel 4,youhave just made my night. {Ed001's Note - here is the youtube vid of it: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1R4oiBxXfNE for those that haven't seen it.}

Saw this earlier and it was kind of good in a weird way, (that journo needs a medal for his perststance) although would love to see this lying person in jail, he kept saying that he will explain his position next week, anyone know what that's all about? {Ed001's Note - I am sure it just means he will get another chance to lie and make up more stories to pretend it wasn't him.}

Can I get that on 4od?

Simply put...absolutely brilliant!

What a friggin coward

He did it for all 96 who died and for the families they left behind

This is the sort of sensational journalistic sh!te that the masses love- especially, ironically, Sun readers.

Bully boy tactics, even to Kelvin MacKenzie, are not acceptable at his own house. He said he was going to put his side of the story- after that, the journo could probably have been charged with a public order offence/ trespassing.

I hate the Sun and am quite openly snobbish about the illiterates who buy the Sun and the Star (and to a lesser extent, the Mirror) since long before 1989- after all, it's not the text they;re interested in, is it? But I do not approve of vigilante-ism in any form.

MacKenzie has questions to answer and I expect him to have to do that through the proper channels.

Mrpjd

Mrpjd

Exactly! Channel 4 have had 23 years to do this but they only care now it is official, despite everyone knowing the truth this whole time! It is merely one-upmanship. Same with these pathetic apologies eg from Cameron and the Sun. They are only doing it now they have been found out... Too little too late!!! Do not praise Channel 4 or the BBC for what they have done in the last week or so. On the other hand, it was goos to see MacKenzie get so p!ssed off

Evening all,
i heard today that either llorante, sturridge, torres(hope not) or defoe will join us in january along with walcott just to put some beef in our attack as rodgers wants to utilise the youth in the team with some more knowledgable options. source is my brother who is a personal fitness trainer and helps at melwood with the medical recovery team.
i must say that i am personaly pleased (in a way) that we have failed to get some new players as now we are forced to use the younger players.
what do the eds think?
jim

Torres is the man

I don't believe it. Unless I heard it from Brenden himself.

Taxi for Jim! This will never happen

brendan rodgers is to make a bid for wilfred zaha in january.He see's him as a top talent,with his pace and ability to play wide or up front.A bid of around 8m will be made.

Would struggle to deliver a pizza let alone a cross.

That's 8m that could go towards the 18m needed for Jovetic

I was praying that we would go for Zaha in the summer along with hangerland. Both are quality and wont break the bank {Ed001's Note - Palace have rejected offers of 10m for him already, why would he suddenly be cheap now? As for quality, he has absolutely no end product, lacks quality if anything.}

18 Sep 2012 15:51:55
Llorente will NOT be Joining us in Jan, hopefully Sturridge will join in summer. I hope Walcott doesn't come as i don't rate him. Do you rate him?

Jason Kitchen (SpeedyLegend)

Don't rate sturridge!!

I rate walcott alot more than sturridge, at least walcott knows how to pass a ball.
Tom

Would any of the editors know if there is any truth in the rumours that we are set to make a move for Fernando Torres in January?
I personally feel that ship has sailed, use the next couple of seasons to rebuild.
M15rk {Ed002's Note - There will be no move for Torres in January.}

The actual story was DC was looking into getting him back last January, before he got sacked.
Lee73

Llorente Torres perhaps

18 Sep 2012 14:56:11
Brendan Rodgers is confident enough of signing Llorente and Walcott in January. And he will replace Downing next Summer with Sturridge.

Yeah well confidence doesn't really matter, he was confident that two players would come in January one of them being Dempsey and that didn't happen so...

Sturridge wants to play centrally, so why replace a wide player with a player who doesn't want to play out wide?

18 Sep 2012 11:41:25
With liverpool able to recall andy carroll in january,west ham are will to take a risk and try and sign carroll on a permenent transfer,for around 17m.The money will be used to try and sign sturridge for a reduced fee,and theo walcott.

So in 12 months we have gone from rumours of Cavani to Sturridge, says it all.
Even the Liverpool rumours page is going down hill Sturridge is useless.

WESTHAM WILL "NEVER"SPEND £17M ON CARROLL!!
Walcott will sign a new deal and stay with gooners!
Sturridge could well move on,but not until the end of the season.
and before you start with FLT,he will stay in Spain with BARCA and REAL both keen!

CRAZY DAVE

Got a feeling WHU will give us the run around like the Aquaman saga. Have to say if we had carroll we may have scored a few with the service from Raheem?
Lee73 {Ed001's Note - how would we? He never attacked the ball for us!}

We were lucky some one took carroll

Raheem sterling is very close to agreeing a new 5 year contract that will see him earn £20,000 per week.Suso will also get his chance alongside yesil on thursday night.These two players will get there chance in the leauge in the coming weeks.Yesil has really impressed the boss in the last couple of weeks,with his scoring and assist against england.Add to this assaidi returning to full fitness and nuri sahin almost up to speed,and you'll see things really are looking up for us.

I could score against england not that impressive

I pitty on those moaners who still disagree with this comments.
holy_red. {Ed002's Note - Sterling cannot sign a five year deal just yet.}

Things really aint that bad,wait untill suso and yesil are unleashed,two quality young players who will give it there all for the shirt.

To the person who said he could score against England: Give me the youtube link of you scoring against England.

Since you said it's not that impressive, i assume I should be expecting at least 3 goals.

£20k week looks small amount.

Sterling should be on at least 35k a week. He won't go 5 years earning 20k being an amazing player. Having said that, in 5 years he'll be 22.

"Things are really looking up for us" Well they couldn't get much worse could they?...Oh wait a minute we've got Man Utd on Sunday!

Raheem will be 18 in december and will be able to sign a long term deal

Stewart downing's liverpool career will come to an end in january.The manager is ready to cut his losses on the player,who does nothing to warrant a starting place.The performances of raheem sterling have made downing the butt of jokes in the dressing room.Rodgers will look to sign getafe winger abdel barrada as a replacement.Jordan henderson has also been informed he is not in the managers plans,so expect another midfielder to sign,with moussa sissoko being considered.Liverpool will also try to sign Kevin Gameiro on loan as he is way downing the pecking order at psg.Rodgers other bit of business will see him attempt to sign sturridge on the cheap,as he is in the last year of his contract.

I would be dissapointed if we sold Henderson. I thought with a bit of time he could become a solid squad player in our system. Presume we would make a massive loss on him if we sell him.. Carroll i understood as it is clear he will not fit.

Take it you never watched the game on saturday then. When Downing came on for Borini the side looked more balanced. Maybe he will be moved on, but he is still here, ffs why not try getting behind him, and everyone at the club.

Carroll will score more than suarez & borini combined now he at a club that can serve him couldnt sell downing and hendo for the money needed for sturridgge

Agree with that point. I also think it'd be foolish to dump Downing off so soon for the same reason. He's a very serviceable squad player and wouldn't command a big transfer fee anyway.

It would be best to let downing go as he had no end product despite a good touch and turn of pace. I believe it would be a mistake to let Henderson go. He will become a very good player.
Greaty

Downing is utter crap,and that's praising him.sterling has done more in four games than he's done since he signed for us.Plus we've still got assaidi to into the frame,so yeah i'd be glad if stewie got sold,simply not good enough.

Agree with the post above,downing really is pretty useless.i do believe there is hope with henderson,just needs to find a role that suit's his game,and his confidence needs rebuilding.

Downing has had chance after chance to perform,and 99% of the times has failed to do so.He's a very limited player,who was brought for a very very over the top fee!.I hope he is sold along with the rest of the dalglish carp(suarez not included).

I hope all of you remember that Sturridge is not a winger, HE IS A STRIKER and he always wanted to play that role in Chelsea. Yes, we need to sign another striker but at the expense of a winger? I don't think so.

Downing is not impressive by far but at least he can provide cover. As for Hendo, I think he need to up his defence game. Maybe he will be the next Scott Parker.

£40m gone,
£15m in,
£10 spent.
Net spend=£35m

:s

"Way downing the pecking order" ha!

Hey eds ..just wanted clarification on Enrique...there seems to be a little talk of BR wanting to.move him on...any truth to this you think?? {Ed001's Note - he is currently recovering from injury, he will be given a chance, but it is true he is not impressing so far.}

After Christmas he was basically worse than Glenn Johnson.
AnfieldUSA

Yes yes please let's get shot of him, awful awful player

Not surprised,hes rubbish on the ball

Dont believe a left back is the managers top priority with little to no money to play with.I expect a striker and a midfielder who can score.

His twin brother doesn't want to leave. As they say form is temporary and class is permanent so I'm wondering if he just showed good form before Christmas.

GuvTOB

Huh? I think he is the best player who Kenny signed. If we let him go, we better have a replacement for him. The embarrassment of this summer transfer window MUST not appear again.

Haha, a while back everyone was saying how awesome he was.

He sucks, even when he was playing well he wasn't particularly good. He has awful habits - dwells on the ball, picks the wrong pass, tackles with the wrong foot etc. Sadly most of Kennys signings are turning out to be poor. At least he wasn't expensive.

Ed001 does BR rate Robo?

Sj {Ed001's Note - I was told he was impressed with Robbo, if Kelly wasn't so highly rated, I am told he would have got the games this season instead of him.}

Hello Eds.
Can we sign Andreas Cornelius? He is a danish Striker who has scored 7 goals in 9 matches for FC Copenhagen in the danish Superliga. He is tall and strong and both legged only 19 years old.
DanielDenmark {Ed001's Note - no idea sorry.}

A striker with 2 legs.... You don't see that often, hopefully we will snap him up!

Sinister Red

Haha you know what I mean :P
DanielDenmark

Haha funny sinister. What will you call it, if he can score with both legs. He is great with his weaker foot. I really see him as a great talent, hopefully we will sign him
DanielDenmark

I prefer Nicklas Helenius. Any thoughts on him Daniel?

Helenius is very great, but I think he is moving to Holland in Jan. Cornelius is a better prospect. He is a great header, he is fast and weighs about 87 kg. And he can shoot from the distance. Cornelius has the potential to play for a European top club in the future, same type as Bendtner, but a lot better in my opinion. DanielDenmark. New IP adress eds because i am writing from another pc
