Hi Eds and fellow kopites!

1st time poster and have been given word that Liverpool have a number of targets specifically being attacking players but will not show their cards in like making bids until the players themselves from these respected clubs decide on what they want

Rodgers now wants 2 definate strikers due to Borini gettings injured and he wants a marquee signing to prove to fans he is in charge and not being mugged around like he was on deadline day regarding dempsey.
Also he wants another winger forward and will look at at a defensive midfielder if the right price and player becomes available.

Players hes waiting on are Gary Hooper, Theo Walcott and Daniel Sturridge.

Rodgers sees Yesil and Morgan as bright prospects and they will get game time in Capital One cup and Europa league.

1st targets for the positions
Marquee Striker - Loic Remy
Striker - Gary Hooper
Winger/forward - Theo Walcott
DM - Brozovic

If these don't come off Sturridge, Griezmann, Moussa Sissoko, Lens will be looked at

Hope this helps so there will be transfer kitty of 30m and maybe more if Rodgers feels he may get 1 more that would be the equivalent of the Andy Caroll fee hopefully come summer.

Lark

No way Remy, understand Ed2 has stated he thinks Walcott will sign a new contract but talk in London has him signing along with Lennon for lfc with Walcott would have thought as a forward?

Remy is not marquee

When I first started attending LFC matches in the days of Yeats , Hunt and St John we never had the position '' Marquee Striker '' , where is this exactly .

Rodgers will want the players he thinks can improve the team. He will not want players to prove any bloody thing to the fans. He's not stupid.
He cares much more about value for money than about impressing us with big names.

And even if he did want a "marquee striker" - Loic Remy ?

If BR is going for Walcott it won't be as a winger. The lad is desparate to play up front for Arsenal, this is why he hasnt signed a new contract. He isn't gonna sign for us to play as a winger is he if he wants a striker role

The day my wonderful Liverpool FC buy a marquee player is the day the club dies. All your supposed marquee players started somewhere so why not make this the place they are produced rather than buying it in

Loafmaster Flex

Oh God Remy is just awful.

I know for a fact we where looking at Remy on deadline day so there may be truth in this post. For the money Remy would cost, there's a lot better options out there.
sired {Ed002's Note - There was no contact with Marseilles from Liverpool.}

Believe me, phone called where made for remy

Been told its almost certain we'll bid for Hooper in Jan. Heard around 10 mill and FSG are happy as he's young and value for money.

Who done told you that!

Hooper is rubbishe, just like Celtic!

24 isnt young anymore {Ed002's Note - It is if you are as old as I am.}

Hi eds first time posting but would like to ask you if Fernando Torres is a possibility in the January Transfer window? would he come back to us cause i have a sneaky feeling he will find his form again if he resign for us thanks. {Ed001's Note - *sighs* do you really even need to ask? Can we not just move on forget about him?}

More chance of messi and ronaldo I think

The comment above is just silly really okay he may not come but he is affordable unlike messi and ronaldo so dont go being sarcastic

Cheers JJ

He made his choice let him stay there
we wouldnt be even thinking about this if k.k hadnt suandered the money on rubbish

A poor mans Jelevic

Lets bring Rush back i bet he still knows where the goal is

I'd take him all day long.... IDEAL !!

Ed's throwing this one out there. With us being short uofront now, do you think Liverpool will look to do a same sort of deal with Barca with regards to David Villa as we have done with Madrid and Sahin?
Take him on loan and if all goes well maybe look at a full-time deal? {Ed002's Note - That is not the deal for Sahin - there is no opption to buy in the loan deal. Villa is also around 30, has never shown a desire to play outside of Spain, has had injury problems and would command very high wages. However in saying that, I understand that Barcelona may be interested in using him as part of a player exchange should a suitable opportunity arise.}

How about £10m and Suarez for Villa & Sanchez ? ? ?

BigD

What about cut short Sahin loan deal. And offer Enrique and Sahin and cash in exchange for villa

What why would we sell Suarez

The only villa you'll be getting in Jan is probably Aston villa in the f.a. cup!!

How can we offer Sahin when he is only on loan you muppet?

BigD

Huh? Sahin is a Real Madrid player. We cannot sell a player that is not ours.

A lot of fans forget that David villa criticised liverpool and advised Torres to leave Liverpool when Benitez left he even went on to say Reina should leave liverpool. Why would he come to play for us. Plz can anyone tell me

David Villa has returned from injury and has been rapidly been finding his form. I'd be very surprised if Barca wanted to sell a valuable veteran at the moment, unless it was in an exchange type deal where a replacement is assured.

Im not usually one for asking the Eds questions, but i saw a guy play ages ago, and said to a friend he was the closest thing to Xabi Alonso i had seen since the man himself. Anyway the guys name has just cropped up in a link to Liverpool. His name is Benat of Real Betis. A real deep lying playmaker. Tactically exceptional and i believe still in his early 20's?
Do any of you know if the link is genuine or just a rumour? I'd love to know.. thanks.

YNWA! (Adam) {Ed002's Note - If Benat moves perhaps Atletico Madrid is an option. Arsenal and Wolfsburg have shown some interest in him.}

Yes. I think we need someone like Alonso. Our play is nice but the build-up play is too slow. By the time we send the ball to the opponent's final 3rd, opponent defenders have already clogged up the 18 yard box, leaving no space for Suarez or Borini to pilfer from any opportunity. If we can step up the tempo in our build-up play, our strike force will have more opportunity to attack at the opponent.

That's what Allen is for

Benat will likely go to Athletic Bilbao not Athletico Madrid. He is Basque and they have money to burn after selling Javi Martinez

how much would gary hooper cost us ed? {Ed002's Note - Perhaps £7M or so.}

Is anyone actually opposed to signing him? For 7m I think it's worth a shot {Ed002's Note - Neil Lennon is.}

He's not leaving. Lennon says he's close to agreeing a new contract. It would be more than £7m. Mcgeady left for £9.5m and Hooper is twice the player he is

Lol ed but to me that sounds a fair price he still got a lot to prove and they could do with the cash am shore shane long was about that much he he was less of a risk they hopper woould be thanks

What's all this they could do with the cash nonsense, Celtic do NOT need to sell players. They do NOT need the cash {Ed001's Note - actually, to make a regular profit, they will need to sell players or reach the groups stage of the Champions League. There is no saying they will do as well next season in Europe and they have a lower income without Old Firm games, plus a wage bill that is rising.}

Isn`t strange considering the hate these two clubs have for each other that one will find it hard to go on without the other?Would make you think wouldn`t it.
Irish Eam

That's b******* Celtic have already said they do not need Rangers to survive. They have wanted to be separated from the Old Firm tag for years. The wage bill is rising and they can obviously afford it otherwise they wouldn't offer it, they balanced the books in the close season and Celtic make more money on a home game than 90% of the English Premiership.

Celtic do not need to sell Hooper nor do they need the cash from selling him. {Ed001's Note - they said that and then Neil Lennon admitted he had to sell players to balance the books. I think he would know better than you do.}

And he did he sold Ki, Think I know the club I have supported all my life a lot better than you do

Ed, Any news on Llorentes situation at Bilbao? Any interest from LFC? {Ed002's Note - Fernando Llorente is interesting Juventus, Spurs, Manchester City and Arsenal. Chelsea dropped there interest and I suspect that other clubs would be scared of by a transfer fee of more than £25M. There is a very good chance that he will move next year although there are talks continuing with Juventus over a January move, with the interest from Arsenal ramping up. I would suspect that he will end up at one or the other clubs. Arsenal still maintain a very strong interest in Adrian Lopez as well.}

Ed so do we have no interest? {Ed002's Note - There has been interest in the past but I would think the club are one of those scared off by the price.}

He is free next year ed cant see them looking 25m in jan.Tommy Irish Red {Ed002's Note - That is what they want for a January transfer and discussions with Juventus are on-going and I am expecting a push from Arsenal. We will see what happens.}

Ed we are interested in him. {Ed001's Note - not at £25m and that is the stumbling block.}

Hi ed002. 2 questions.
Do you think the new Warrior kits may be having a part in our ongoing tribulations? My uncles Thinus and Jan Botje reckon so. Psychology is pretty important in sport, not least football, and just a quick glance at these new kits is enough to sap me dry of my energy. So drab, uninspiring and unathletic.

Also, do you share my view that LFC is cursed? Never seen a more unlucky team in years. Murphys law in top form. Any and everything that coulda gone wrong has gone wrong. The manifestations have there for all to see.

What do you think ed? What's not right at LFC in your view? Are we on the right track?

Canor {Ed002's Note - I am not one to believe in curses I am afraid. I do see you point about the kit and perhaps the socks are too tight thereby restricting circulation.}

I think we are cursed and if you look back on cl 2005 when we said sorry to juventus fans we got a real good dose of luck right to the very end of the final something more permanent at the new stadium would be a good idea to say sorry for what was not only liverpool fans fault but another failure in the treatment of fans back in the day of us and them atitude.Tommy Irish Red

"We come not to play"
WTF is that?

"We come to make money monetizing the brand and fan affinity".

Thats the real problem. Greedy Yonks slashing wages, selling stars( Despite income higher than when we were a Champs Lg club.

Anyone who cant see the problem, theres no hope for them.

The problem is not that you are cursed is that you an mostly all liverpool fans think that there club is better than they are they used to be a force but now no more than a 7th placed team at best you have bought badly and made alot off mistakes that may take sum wat 5 years to sort out a few years ago you had the best spine in the prem if not the world an now you have never replaced them with the same quality you have let go i no you all will argue the case but that is from a neutral point of view

DIO

The person who posted this has lost the plot

And dio why are you on this website? I'm sick of people saying we were a big club but we aren't any more due to the last few seasons IT'S CALLED NEARLY GOING INTO ADMINISTRATION we had terrible owners who hurt the club and now we have new ones that will hopefully support the club.. Liverpool will never be a small club because dio I don't know who you support but unless its man ut. Then you don't have as many supporters as us and thus less money making potential, especially if ffp comes in and works as intended

I reckon the kit could also be the reason why we cant attract top class players and has nothing to do with lack of CL....haha

Nicest jerseys we've had in years

Perhaps if the players wear boots a half size larger it will compensate for the tight socks. Also pink jock straps might ease the effect of the Warrior tag.

What a load of blks, we will get good luck and bad luck, the kit has nothing to do with it. Do people really get reduced to blaming the kit for our current league position. Heard it all now!

Not cursed, but I am of the belief that Man UTD control everything behind the scenes..Referees, the Media etc which would mean in a way things can easily conspire against us..us being Man Utd biggest rival.

We have slowly got worse since we lost Carlsberg as sponsors...

I don't think it's a curse, but theres definitely something wrong with the designers of the 3rd purple¯ kit. Home ones nice, 2nd strip kind of grows a bit but the 3rd kit is horrible. It doesn't even serve a real purpose, as the reason to have alternative kits is where there is a clash of same, or similar colours, so between all 3 kits you need a complete contrast. Case in point, look at the Hearts game, they wore their away kit in both home and away fixtures because all of our kits clashed. Their home shirt is a very dark red, so clashes obviously with our 1st, black is too dark and the purple, being dark, is too similar to the black. 3rd strip should be white, or yellow or something. And to get some use of it, what do we do, we change to that for our away trip to Norwich? Since when does red clash with yellow? Clearly a ploy just to try and get some use out of it. Hope its condemned to the bin at the end of the season.

eds, how's luuk de jong started the season?! any chance for jan chaps?! {Ed002's Note - Given he only moved a few weeks ago a further move in January will not happen.}

You obviously know nothing about football to ask that after that window.

18 Oct 2012 14:31:55
Any interest in Tim Matav˛ of PSV? Has had a good record in Holland for several years now, and perhaps could be bought for a reasonable price?

Rafa's Purple Goatie {Ed002's Note - I would doubt he would be available.}

Hi Edds,
Is it true that we may be interested in a Bid for Jack Butland in the summer?

MikeyB {Ed002's Note - If Pepe were to leave it would not be out of the question.}

Ed002, is it a poss Renia may go this summer? If so where? Also is there a strong poss LS will also depart in the summer? I wouldn't blame him,he's a marked man here.
Lee73 {Ed002's Note - I would not be surprised to see either or both leave in the summer.}

If they were both to leave then id say:

Reina £20m
Suarez £35m

and replace them with

Butland £10m
or Ter Stegan £15m

Higuain £30
or
Damiao £25m

BigD

Ed002 no offense but you have an obsession with suarez wanting to leave. He just signed a new 5 year deal when he could have left if he wanted to. He constantly says he loves it at liverpool and if you watched some of being liverpool i think you would see how much he loves it here {Ed002's Note - He could easily be driven out by his paranoia that he is getting a rough deal from the FA etc.. At least one viable option exists and it would additional provide Champions League football. I would not be surprised.}

Ed002 why do you reckon Luis will leave next summer now that he has signed a contract extension? Cheers, Scouserseb {Ed002's Note - See above.}

Yeah, No offense to Ed002, but you did say all last summer that Suarez would be out. I mean, Sure it's possible but nobody else seems to be speculating. {Ed002's Note - I really don't care about speculation from others.}

18 Oct 2012 12:51:23
Any chance of us going after James Forrest of Celtic eds? {Ed002's Note - Not that I am aware. But there is interest in Hooper.}

Ed002 how serious is the interest in Hooper and how much we looking at .. around £5m maybe.

BigD {Ed002's Note - There is certainly interest from Liverpool in Hooper but the Celtioc manager says he is hoping to strike a new deal with teh player to keep him in Glasgow. Money wise I would think a little more than you suggest.}

£5M for Hooper, double it and you have a deal

17 Oct 2012 23:41:37
hi eds do you know if any of are lads picked up any knocks over the international break,fingers crossed they all got back safe and sound,ty ray {Ed001's Note - as far as I can find out, just Reina.}

Wisdom picked up a knock on u19s duty, not sure if that'll keep him out this weekend or not; Reina and Borini we obviously know about; I believe Flanagan has done something as well, not sure on that one; Skrtel also picked up a minor knock but he'll be fine for the weekend.

That's about it, I think.

TSP

Gerrard very fatigued after carrying Rooney, Carrick and not-so-Cleverley on Wednesday

Apparently Robinson and McLaughlin have also picked up knocks.

So we are down to using Carragher as a RB.

TSP

Flano is training again so should be okay for whatever is required of him ^^

Sahin is capable of playing at LB also, letting Johnson go to RB, but Carra wont let us down if needed.

Jose's at about match fitness again, not that it means he'll see the field.

This one a bit out of the left field, but have heard that we are very interested in 19 year old Jurgen Locadia from PSV

Adam

Read the Daily Mail then?

For the youth academy I assume.

Adam

Was reported on last night-is apparently scoring freely and has interested other major clubs
Learpholl

No I did not read the daily mail as i reported this last night before the story in the daily mail came out. I would guess it would be for the first team not the academy

Adam

They wright it up on there website the night before or even sometimes in the afternoon bless you really thought we would be saying wow you must be the next Macca.oh and next time put a name next to your post.
Deanalfie.

Deanalfie - I do wear glasses so excuse me if I'm wrong, but I swear he has named all of his posts?

YNWA

Muzzafan

Deanalfie-I reckon that you should show more respect and manners to people who post here for genuine reasons, and you should also consider learning to spell better than a 6 year old
Learpholl

Yes as quoted above i have indeed named my posts . I also do not have to justify myself to people like you . . I wouldn't be personic enough to claim i'd just heard it if i'd have known it was going to be put in to the paper hours later.

Adam

This is what happens when you sign off as 'Adam'...people give you gip!

Might just be something to the Sanchez rumour. Watch this space.

I've been watching this space for the past eight hours and now I've gone blind. Have you any further news?
DM2012

It will remain a space for ever more, so don't watch it for too long!!

Waste of space
