Does anyone know whatever happened with the Arda Turan story/ rumour?

Nope, but going back to old rumours. . Douglas Costa anyone?

He's at Shaktar now but in the summer of 09 rumours of us and utd fighting for him were all over the site, anyone seen much of him recently? Was he worth all the hype?

Can someone please give us hope, and tell us that Roy's days are numbered? How can he possibly motivate his players when he tells the fans to expect more defeats! Sorry Roy, you're not cut out for the job.

Me, Ed , and Many thousands wish we could all tell you he is gone tomorow. . .
But me I think he going to be here a while yet, other wise we wouldn't be sending him to France to have a look at players for the future would we. Role on till the fat lady sings for roys time at Liverpool.

Ed, is that left back wendt we are linked with any good? {ed's note - he has performed well in Europa League competition, which suggests he has the ability to step up to a higher league. Hard to tell with him in a weaker league but he does look to be good enough for the Prem.}

This debate about whether Torres is worth 50 million or 35m and pepe thing is sorta boring me. i would rather they would just stay and play for the team they are contracted to.

can we get on to rumours?

So this rumour that liverpool is in prime position to sign lukaku on the NESN website, anyone have any idea how Reliable this is? or is it a load of rubbish?

roy needs to go.

Matt YNWA

lukaku, , hmmm would be good to get him but i really can't see us getting him, , , he has a choice between spanish title contenders with champions league competition, english champions with champions league competition, young english title contenders with again champions league competition, , or liverpool hopefully can be title contenders soon, , and europa league competition hopefully champions league competition next season or season after, , , if he manages to pick us then it will be miracle but we did beat arsenal and tottenham for joe cole, , and beat chelsea man united and others for torres so miracles do happen ha

{Editor's Note: Ajax are the dark horses for his signature.}

idk ed i can't see ajax getting him, , there not in one of the top leagues for one and 2 its again real madrid, , chelsea, , arsenal, , , me personally think he will be at chelsea, , they need young talent cos there strikers r getting on a bit and r out injured and ill, , {ed's note - Chelsea would be his preference, BUT he wants somewhere he will play every week and he has already turned down all of those clubs you listed to finish his schooling. There is no way of knowing where he will go for sure, only he will know that.}

Sorry friend, it will a cold day in hell before we sign Adam Johnson. I personally would break the bank for Carroll from Newcastle, he has LFC striker written all over him, massive talent.

Signings will happen in the summer; not so much in January.
But, I can assure that a LOT of changes will take place.

Some very interesting signings include Yann M'Vila, Aaron Lennon, Adam Johnson, Ocscar Wendt, Lucas Barrios and Mirko Vucinic.

We will lose Christian Poulsen, Lucas, Milan Jovanovic, Ryan Babel, Paul Konchesky and Maxi Rodriguez.

Team:
GK: Reina/ Jones
RB: G. Johnson/ Kelly
CB: Agger/ Carragher/ Wilson
CB: Skrtel/ Soto
LB: Wendt/ Aurelio
RM: Lennon/ Kuyt
CM: M'Vila/ Meireles
AM: Gerrard/ J. Cole/ Shelvey
LM: A. Johnson/ Amoo
ST: Barrios/ Vucinic
ST: Torres/ Pacheco/ N'Gog

We won't get benzema. he probably hasnt been looked at after his attitude and off-field problems recently. i heard something along the lines of 17m-20m would get him? i say buy 2 wingers for 20m. marin and krasic. maybe a little more than 20m but, that what we need. .width. not some overpaid "superstar" who can't get a game for madrid, to his defense, theres no shortage of attacking talent, but for 20m id be looking on regularly. so theres no excuse.

Reina to arsenel jan or summer 30m. Torres to barcelona 50m

{Editor's Note: I think the suggested fees are miles over the top - 50% over on each player.}

Is that a suggestion that you think they will go or not ed?

{Editor's Note: I don't see either moving immediately and I dount Reina would end up at Arsenal and I doubt that Barcelona have the money needed to buy Torres at £35M or so.}
ED get off the gear mate. you are indeed disallusioned with your valueations

valuation don't matter lol u don't always get what u want anyway, , look at mascherano worth atleast £25-30mill yet got sold for 18mill, , , but i agree with ED reina won't go to arsenal, , and if he goes his price will probably be around the 20 mill mark, , , and torres with his injury troubles, , i don't think anyone will pay more than 30-40 mill if that, , apart from city ofcourse but they won't get either anyway

Dani Pacheco was told by Roy Hodgson that he would be included in his plans, and the fact that the Spanish youngster has spent three years at Anfield, qualifying him as a `home-grown` talent helped him secure a professional contract at Liverpool. However, after failing to be selected by Hodgson, Pacheco wishes to leave Liverpool. Real Sociedad had wanted to take Pacheco on loan last summer.

Guillem said that Real Sociedad wanted him on loan last Summer.

LOLOLOLOLOLOL ha ! So I take it you believed that LIE posted in the Daily Mirror, denied by the club, players, their agents and a top Spanish journalist.

Ed- Peanuts as to their true valuation yes, it would cost approx 15 million just to replace Reina, with Neuer from germany and De Gea robably commanding such transfer price, as to Torres, if hes only valued at £35 in your eyes, then their is something wrong, seeing as Zlatan Imbrahimovic went for £60.7 million and hes not better than Torres, neither is Torres only worth £5 million more than berbatov, form is temporary and class is permanent. To replace Torres you would probably have to better £35 million anyways. {ed's note - Torres is seen as a high risk player due to his injuries, while his value to Liverpool is much higher than £35m, his value on the transfer market might not be.}

Oh really. . in that case what would you say how much your beloved club Man Utd would fetch for Rooney whose form is even pathetic. . .

I guess he would fetch 50% over 2 pound. . .ha ha ha {ed's note - he is not a United fan mate, you are barking up the wrong tree, though I do agree he seriously undervalued Reina. But that is because he has a different idea of player values, maybe it is his age ;o)}

Dear Ed,

Are you Victor Meldrew?

Any good player that is linked to Liverpool you say we got no chance of signing, why would he come to Liverpool. Then when we are linked with players in the mould of Kranjcar (who is a good player) you just say they are not good enough. Basically, you are saying anyone worth signing, won't sign for us unless we are the only option he has. {ed's note - you know there are more than one editor don't you? And that we all have our own opinions on who will sign for us? I am the one saying Kranjcar is not good enough, but most players will want to join us because of who we are - though having Hodgson as manager and the unrest he is causing, is not helping us to attract new players.}

Ed- So a fee of £30 million for Reina and £50 million for Torres is 50% over priced? Reina is one of the top 3 keepers in world football, the onnly reason he is not Spains number 1 is due to the politics within Spanish football, and Pepe plying his trade in England. £30 million is probably the starting valuation, 5 years of contract to go, 15 points extra per season because of him, goalden glove winner in his first 3 seasons at the club, in which he plays in arguably the best league in the world and hes still only 28, so injuries barring, another 10 years of top football left, plus Liverpool don't or have the need to sell. As for Torres a valuation of £50 million is not 50% over priced, we are talking about a player who would walk into any top clubs first 11, has 3 years of contract remaining, is 26 years of age, and if your calculations are right is only worth a couple of million more than joleon lescott, and less than yaya toure? im just glad your not in control of player sales, as we would be getting ripped off left right and centre with you.

{Editor's Note: And who would pay those fees? Manchester City - because I very much doubt any one else could afford them}
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

If no-one wants to pay those fees then that's their problem and they can sod right off.

We're not going to just lower our asking price for players to suit other teams. No way in hell. Why should we?

Plus, Torres wants to go to another big club, which is why he ruled out Man City several times before. And David Villa ruled out Man City on his behalf.

()()

18 Nov 2010 19:47:22
Ed- Well if the option was for them both to go to Manchester City for their true value as opposed to peanuts that you value them at, then Manchester City it is, however im sure Inter Milan, Ac Milan and Barcelona would have a say in any movement regarding Torres, as would Ac Milan, Inter Milan, Juventus, Arsenal, Manchester United, Athletico Madrid would all bid for Reina, i could also imagine Chelsea to bid for Reina as hes more consistent and better IMO, than Cech.

If a player wants to leave, then so be it, i do not care as to which club they join, aslong as we get true valuation for our players, which has not happened in recent history, i mean look at the Steve McMahon situation, everton wouldn't sell to us, so he moves to Aston Villa then gets his move to Liverpool, so whether we sell directly to our competitors or not, a player will always find the route to the club they desire.

{Editor's NOte: Have you thought that perhaps Liverpool have been getting the true valuation for their players. £20M for a gopalkeeper and £35M for a striker who is currently not performing well seem like pretty good valuations to me. Certainly not peanuts as you suggest.

{Editor's Note: And who would pay those fees? Manchester City - because I very much doubt any one else could afford them}

Just because clubs can't afford a valuation, should not mean we drop our asking price! We do not need to sell, especially on the cheap! If no one can afford them, then they stay!

Only reason pepe is not spains no1 is because he is not as good as cassiase (forgive my spelling) simple as that , not politics.
By far and away the best keeper in the world. Over the last ten years or so no other keeper has reached his level and no one saves as many points for his team than him.

To the person who said this. . So a fee of £30 million for Reina and £50 million for Torres is 50% over priced? When was the last time you saw any GK sold for 30M?? ? GK are always under priced considering there value to the team. .If pepe went for over 20m i'd eat my underpants. . . Torres if sold would have a value between 30-40 million depending on who's paying. . . .

{Editor's Note: My point exactly. Reina is worth about £20M and Torres around £35M.}

Lewis Holtby has made a comment in the German media, that he'd consider a move to either Liverpool or Everton should they make a move for him. Although German he would still qualify under the homegrown rule, due to him having english parents.
"I would be interested in a move to the premier league in the future, its the best league in the world. Everton and Liverpool are both top clubs. Although Im very happy the way things are going right now."

Ed - the reason the talk of Honda to Liverpool has gone quiet, is because a deal has been done, and part of the negoitation conditions were that it was all kept hush hush, so not to alert other suitors.

Will be announced on 1st January - Fee - £15m

Did the Ed write this ?

{Editor's Note: No the Editor(s) did not write this. Whilst the signing of Honda is certainly not out of the question, and assuming interest from AC Milan and Bayern Munich does not intervene you may well see the player moving to Liverpool. However, it is nonsense to think it has gone quiet because a deal has been done.}

Hi Ed something I don't understand. O'hara you wouldn't mind seeing at LFC you accept the fact that he has VDV, Mod and bale ahead of him. . however Kranjcar who is a better player than O'hara (OK not the same position) who has the same players in front of him at spurs is not good enough for LFC? ?

Even if O'hara was 100% fit he would not start ahead of aforementioned players. {ed's note - Kranjcar is not a better player for one and for a second point he is a lot older, O'Hara is young with potential to improve. Oh and O'Hara has a much better attitude to the game as a person.}

Liverpool are preparing an opening offer of £10mil plus £4mil in add ons (based on goals, appearences etc) for Romelu Lukaku. Theres a possibility that Milan Jovanovic could be used as a make weight in the deal.This information has been leaked by a club insider.

{Editor's Note: I can't see any chance of Lukaku joining Liverpool with interest from Real Madrid and Chelsea - who are clear favourites. The dark horse for his signature is Ajax who can offer a, potentially, better long-term deal for the club and take care of his brother.}

Ed, just to clear up some spurs rumours thst liverpool fans seem to think they know more than the spurs fans do?? kranjcar wants to stay and will stay at least till the summer! its his dad that stated he wants to move but nico came out and corrected his old man! spurs DID bid £17mil for lukaka and the benzema to spurs seems a goer although they are trying very hard to keep hush hush {ed's note - I believe Benzema to Spurs is very possible, I don't know the full ins and outs but I was told in the summer about Spurs and Real Madrid being close to agreeing a move for Benzema along with VDV. I think it was just time that put a hold on the deal and it was left open to be revived in January, is that correct?}

You're having a laugh. Given is a fantastic keeper. He is being utterly wasted at City. I still want Pepe to stay with us for his entire career though!

Frenchy.

I disagree Frenchy - Given is a good shot stopper, but I'd rather Gulacsi get a chance like city have given Joe Hart.

I'm still hoping the Reina stories are just paper talk tho, but would be disappointed if we got Given as a replacement. .

Benzema rarely got a game under Pellegrini. If you'd actually done your research, Benzema is getting more game time under Mourinho. The 'special' one (not the chosen one as you think) has only been in charge of Real since the start of this season, so I don't know what you're on about. Are you saying Mourinho contacted Pelligrini stating not to play Benzema when Pelligrini was in charge? Didn't think so. .
- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

And if you'd done your research you'd know that the reason Benzema doesn't get a game under Mourinho is because he doesn't fit in to Jose Mourinho's system and can't play in it very well. {ed's note - it is more because Jose doesn't rate him and because he is fat and lazy that he is not playing. Nothing to do with tactical systems as Mourinho already altered his system to suit the players that were at the club, he would alter it again if Benzema was good enough.}

World class signing will be Kaka from Real Madrid !

I don't think I'd like to see kaka at Liverpool. I don't think he will be as good as he was at ac, not same player since he moved and I don't think he will be either. Plus for the money he would demand as wagers are way to much for lfc. He is a man city player to sit on bench just so another prem team carnt have him.

{ed's note - why would you want to get rid of Agger and Gerrard?}

Ed from what has been said on here and elsewhere it sounds like Aggers days are numbered. As for Gerrard, I would never get rid of him although I do understand what this guy was trying to say. When Gerrard plays everyone else takes a back seat and expects Gerrard to do it all. If he wasn't there then other players would have to step up to the plate. If Gerrards injury is a bad one, and I hope it's not, then these background players will need to step forward anyway.

Roy Hodgson has already decided to leave Liverpool and will resign by the weekend if Liverpool fail to pick up all 3 points against lowly West Ham

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -
and you know this how precisely. .what on earth makes you think this man will resign. he never did at blackburn where jack walker gave him the opportunity to resign and roy wouldnt. so no recourse but to sack him
Roy will not resign. just won't happen. he will always believe that his "methods" will turn things round

Ed, are there any plans for comolli or RH or King Kenny or anyone else (board, scouts etc) to look into signing Kranjcar from Tottenham? He would surely be affordable and improve our first 11.

I personally thought that missed out when he signed for them and now that he is unhappy at not getting any time on the pitch, i would love to see him at our great club (his creativity is something we are lacking - even though i feel that our no. 1 priority should be wingers)

T-LFC {ed's note - he is not good enough to get into a Spurs team that are struggling in the league, I don't think he would be worth us looking into. I haven't heard of us looking at him, but things have tightened up so much I don't expect to hear anything other than where our scouts are seen.}

World class signing will be Kaka from Real Madrid !

Since his big money move, he has failed to settle in Spain and his overall performances have been poor and, according to my source, he wants to leave.

Real are very interested in Glen Johnson and, amazingly, Ryan Babel and both could potentially be used in the deal.

* * * * * *

I admire your optimism but this will not happen. For starters he is 28 and that would go against everything NESV stand for. His wages would be outrageous and there would be little if any resale value on him. Ed, you have any thoughts on this? {ed's note - people keep suggesting it and I keep saying the same things you do and add to it that he is recovering from a very serious injury which will take him months to get back to form after.}

Seen this morning that we have been linked to romelu lukaku , the 17 year old who played for belgium last night and scored 2 goals against russia , he starts for his club anderlecht and starts for belgium at the age of 17! hes even played in the champions league and scored 19 goals last season , i know he is attracting alot of interest from real madrid , chelsea , arsenal and pretty much everyone but if we could get him that would be a steal , he is without a doubt one of the brightest young talents around and has been described as the next didier drogba and certainly looks like it. Only Steven Gerrard , Alberto Aquilani and Yossi Benayoun had more Premier League assists than Insua last season . Emiliano Insua actually had more Premier League assists last season than Javier Mascherano and Lucas Leiva put together .

Ed(s) any idea who they could possibly scouting.

Roy has been in France scouting M'Vila who played for the French against England tonight (wearing number 17). This info is valid as the commentator mentioned it during the game so it is from a reliable. He looks to be a more defensive central midfielder from what i saw in the game and he played well. Hope we can sign him as he is young and fresh unlike Poulsen -.-

Onto unsupported rumours and speculation. .
Other players i would love Roy and Comolli to try and sign for LFC but have heard no info about are
Eden Hazard of Lille (good chance?)
Ashley Young and/ or Gabriel Agbonlahor of Aston Villa (Unlikely?)
Adam Johnson of Man City (likely? seen a few rumours on here about him)
So. .
Possible Signings in Jan - M'Vila , Hazard ?
Possible Signings in Summer - Young/ Agbonlahor ?
