Marca saying we've had a 75m euro bid for Mbappe rejected
Is it accurate Eds.

Believable0 Unbelievable8

{Ed002's Note - I suspect they are confusing a Manchester United offer (which was higher than €75M that has already been rejected. Vadim Vasilyev has said that the reason the Manchester United bid was rejected was that the club wish to keep him. Although if enough were offered then it would make it hard to turn down.}

18 May 2017 17:17:44
Just imagine the scenes if we actually signed mbappe. what a player.

18 May 2017 18:14:19
Thx Ed02
It is shocking journalism if they have confused the two clubs.

{Ed002's Note - It comes from an interview that Vasilyev gave earlier today.}

Prices for players are becoming ridiculous. The beautiful game has been ruined by the route of all evil = money.

All said and done, I will support Liverpool Football Club right till the end.

Mbappe looks great but for the price involved can't see LFC in there, I would tell him to stay another year before he moved regardless he's getting game time and European football where he is.

Just to be linked with this quality of player is a good sign tho. I'm not one for we need a marquee signing. BUTTTT this player does look the dogs danglys. 👍🤞him. mane . firmino up top? Got goosebumps thinking about it lol 😂.

Given Utd's record of chucking very stupid money at players in recent years (Pogba, Depay, Martial, Di Maria, Shaw) with little success then I'd suggest that if their scouts reckon £75m on an 18 year old with one good season behind him is a good deal then we should leave them to it.

18 May 2017 22:28:07
The lads special and very much th3 real deal however this will not happen for liverpool on a million years.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 May 2017 04:15:44
They said the same when depay signed for the Mancs.

Agree1 Disagree3

{Ed001's Note - Depay had never shown anything to be considered special, Mbappe has given even the best defence in Europe (Juventus's) a torrid time. Mbappe is special. I mean really special.}

Agree eds looks class 👍.

I thought the whole point of bringing in Klopp was to do what he did at Dortmund.

75 million Euro bids for 18 yr olds? WTF? I earnestly hope it is not us.

i don't think I'm the only one wishing it was true i could accept losing the little Brazilian if he was coming in but ed 02 has spoken and its all fiction . hope utd don't get him though.

Hi ed. You mentioned a while back that Barca's reps are due to meet with Lfc's people in London again to duscuss Coutinho. Im just interested to learn if this has happened as of yet please and if any outcome was reached at this stage? Thanks in advance.

Believable0 Unbelievable1

{Ed002's Note - At present Kia Joorabchian is handling discussions.}

18 May 2017 14:35:32
While adding a left back and left winger are important this summer, keeping our best players is going to make or break it being a good window or not.

18 May 2017 14:35:29
Eds, presumably by the very nature of these talks going ahead, it means Liverpool are willing to sell him. What else is the point of meeting with them?

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool said when first approached that they do not wish to sell. Clubs regularly meet with other clubs and agents.}

18 May 2017 14:36:16
I thought Liverpool were not interested in selling Coutinho, Ed, will their stance change? Thank you.

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Perhaps.}

18 May 2017 14:54:29
Is coutinho looking to push for the move? I know you said he had discussed it with international team mates in the past.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - His agent is pushing and would not do so if the player was against it.}

18 May 2017 15:05:27
Replacing him will be a challenge. It reminds me of the Alexis Sanchez transfer that never happened. Replacing quality players is very difficult for a club like us. This constant selling of our top players (bar Saurez) is taking us backwards. I just hope he is genuinely happy at liverpool and refuses the move for now.

Agree5 Disagree1

18 May 2017 15:42:56
If coutinho does want a move then all we can do is wish him well squeeze every million we can out of Barca. £70 mill I'd take then that's give us the opportunity to invest in a couple of decent players. Not sure who I would like that's above my pay grade. I would prefer him to stay but in this day an age loyalty is non exsistant. If he stays then I hope the club play him centrally an we match him ambitions with the players we buy. Some of the players were 'linked' with worry me. It's time too stop thinking about the future am buying potentially good kids an start buying proven quality and if that's means £50 mill players then so be it for far to long we have been out muscled in the transfer market we're Liverpool fc an the club an more importantly the fans deserve too wowed in the market. I don't know who I would buy or who I would sell thays klopps department but whatever happens i will 100% back the club an the players who pull that shirt on.

Agree8 Disagree5

18 May 2017 16:15:27
Ed. Would you think the players we are already targeting currently that you have mentioned are in a view to replacing him or could our targets change if he did leave?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Liverpool would seek a replacement. Right now they are not looking to sell.}

18 May 2017 18:46:32
If you believe Barcelona will spend most of their budget on one player they don't need you'll believe anything.

Ed002 am I right in saying you have previously suggested we could look to Max Meyer if Coutinho were to leave?

Could explain the info Waro got yesterday if the Coutinho sale has got legs.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - Max Meyer fits the bill of a young attacking midfield player which prompted previous bids from Chelsea (who would have sent him on loan for one season before integrating him in to the squad) and Fiorentina in 2014. Schalke 04 do not want to sell the player and made it clear to Spurs and Milan who were showing an interest this past summer that any move was unlikely - going as far as turning down an offer of €47M. The player has shared his desire to play in Spain with Real Madrid or Barcelona or to play in England. Other sides such as Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Arsenal watched him last season but had no real interest. If Liverpool were to lose Coutinho and/or Firmino he could be a player they may look to but right now they haven't. Spurs remain interested.}

18 May 2017 20:02:28
We should be building the squad around Coutinho not selling him. If we want to compete for the title and in the CL then we keep our star man. Can't understand fans that are happy with selling him? Baffling.

18 May 2017 20:00:59
Hi eds - how much does a World Cup coming up play into plans of a player/ agent? Surely playing 40+ games as a starter is better than being a squad player for a "bigger" team to secure a starting place for your country? Or are they not as forward thinking?

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed002's Note - Players are not going to move a club that he doesn't want to in order to play more to get in to a World Cup squad.}

18 May 2017 20:03:33
No player is bigger than the club.

18 May 2017 20:23:13
Reaper, you are fabricating things in your head mate. Nobody is happy if Coutinho is really leaving.

However, not everybody is a whining fanboy who over exaggerrates the impact of losing 1 player. In the last 8 years we have lost Alonso, Reina, Mascherano, Gerrard, Hyypia, Agger, Carragher, Sissoko, Torres, Suarez, Kuyt and Sterling.

Yet in that time we have gone from being a top 6 team to being, you guessed it, a top 6 team with a couple of title challenges and 4 cup finals in that time. Now we are looking to kick on and improve. Spurs did exactly that by selling Bale for £80m and then building a team with that cash so have a little faith. Klopp has made 2 major signings so far and Mane is our top scorer, with Gini our top assister!

Just look at that list of players we have lost in the last 8 years though. Now tell me we can't cope with losing 1 of our better players this summer! Doesn't mean I'm happy about it. I'd be happiest if he wants to stay. However I am a Liverpool fan, not a Coutinho fan. As the great Ed002 would say, "players are transient employees".

Agree7 Disagree5

18 May 2017 21:36:56
You are usually on the ball mk but tottenham were dreadful the season they sold bale. not one player from that season signed is even in their current xi. How many are even left? Lamela only off top of my head.

By the way if we pulled off Lamela and Soldado off that year we would all have been overjoyed so to everyone else spendong big on "proven" or "marquee" doesn't always work.

I trust in Klopp, we have been unlcuky with injuries, specifically the captain Henderson who grows with every game. Okay I believe that keeping Coutinho is essential to a title challenge and I think we will lose him, but like I say I have faith in our manager who has already got us 2 cup finals and top 4 in 1 and a half seasons. he knows what he is doing

Ynwa.

SPURS now have a top manager/ coach.
As have Chelsea, City, Utd, Arsenal and ourselves.

Our record in games against these top coachs's is excellent to date;so, hopefully a few signings to give us a bit of an alternate plan to
help us move the parked busses should do the trick

We really were not that far away this year. * (hopefully Middlesbrough are already using their bus for Summer Hols.

But the dark days of Roy Hodgson are thankfully long Gone.

We are now contenders who have beaten all above us.

If he wants to go, let him go. Try to get as much money for him as possible and move on.

Use the money towards a world-class training facility, academy, and to hire the people who scout, develop and train the players at the likes of Southampton, Monaco, Juventus and Red Bull Leipzig.

Agree1 Disagree1

19 May 2017 20:46:44
The summer they sold Bale Spurs signed Paulinho, Eriksen, Chadli and Lamela all of whom had impacts on the first time. Eriksen is now their best player. Admittedly though Chiriches, Capoue and Soldado were all duds.

You can easily argue that the sale of Bale helped to both fast track and fund their massive redevelopment in terms of both training facilities and stadium. Not to mention that 4 out of the 7 players were a success even if Paulinho and Chadli have since moved on.

Whatever way look at it, and you can easily make a fair argument that selling Bale hundreds them as much as it helped them, they sold him and became title challengers in the long run. Which just goes to show that selling your best players is not the end of the world, even if it is not the desired outcome!
