Heard a little something, not sure how true it is. About how Madrid might be trying to hijack the Keita deal. Hope not like, but worrying if it's true.

Deal is already agreed. Don’t see how they can.

Keita is a Liverpool player. How can they hijack a complete deal?

18 Jun 2018 21:59:29
What the hell are are talking about? Lol
He signed for liverpool last season. He will be wearing red in Merseyside this season coming and probably for a long time to come.

Agree15 Disagree3

{Ed0333's Note - Technically it’s possible so please don’t abuse ScouseDel mate. All Madrid have to do is buy out his pre-contract.

18 Jun 2018 22:21:01
I have thick skin ed's it's all good. Just passing on what I heard. Like I said, I hope there isn't anything in it but given what I was told there is something up.

Agree0 Disagree11

{Ed0333's Note - No worries scouse I truly hope your wrong but until a player is doing the Anfield lean no transfer is 100%.

18 Jun 2018 22:55:39
I had heard this rumour a few months ago saying Real were offering us around 75million for him making us a 15/ 20million profit on a player who didn't even kick a ball for us. Technically they could buy him from us but not till 1st of July.

Baz.

18 Jun 2018 23:01:45
Never going to happen.

Agree10 Disagree1

18 Jun 2018 23:29:21
Quick google led to to a story in the Express (yep! ) from mid-May about Real apparently offering us double what we paid (£96m apparently) for him before he’d kicked a ball.

No other source and nothing since, so the cynic in me says it was a story planted to try to unsettle the team/ fans before the CL final.

Hopefully that’s all there is to it.

Agree10 Disagree0

18 Jun 2018 23:44:26
15/ 20million profit is nothing for a player who will probably be worth at least £150 million after one season at Liverpool
Keita will be a red on 1st July

19 Jun 2018 00:42:47
Google running a story could be a tedious link, I didn't really wanna publicy post why it could be more in it as it would get my pal into issues. But try ordering a shirt from the website with Keita on the back and see how far you can get. Like I said there could be nothing in it, could be something. Unfortunately this is why people stop posting as much now, the community on here used to be amazing and positive. Now it's all about giving people aggro when things are posted that they don't like to read. Unless it is macca or an ed. Even then some people try play them off each other. Sad to see, I'll go back to lurking. Peace.

Agree13 Disagree2

{Ed0333's Note - hey scousedel I still get abused and I’m an Ed lol. I’m certainly not gonna shoot the messenger thankyou for your input and let’s hope and pray Keita is in red and not white this coming season.

19 Jun 2018 05:15:17
One brilliant season with us and he is most definitely off. Not being negative but i am pretty sure if he has a great season with us and we don't win anything he would be off sooner than later. I anyhow don't see him as long term solution. he would at max have 3 seasons with us. but that is how football is these days. Same applies for Salah and mane. i think bobby might stay a while unless his talents get recognized in the footballing world. To keep these players at the club we have consistently win trophies.

I pray we get to see a season of keita ripping apart clubs for us and winning us the league. if we sign a few players this window it is very much possible. we do have quite a fantastic team as of now. A couple of additions would work wonders.

Agree2 Disagree17

19 Jun 2018 06:47:02
Could the Eds clarify how this could work, given the deal we already have with RBL?

Can Madrid actually ‘hijack’ the deal i. e. it’s something outside of our control that Madrid and RBL could agree?

Or is it something Madrid could only achieve by agreeing a deal with us directly to buy Keita from us on 1 July or thereafter?

Just want to understand if it’s in our control to sell Keita if we decide to (for whatever reason) or not.

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - Keita has merely signed an agreement to sign with us. There are always clauses to allow either side to cancel the deal, usually there is a price stipulated to buy it out. If Madrid want to, then they would just have to buy out the contract, similar to a normal transfer.}

19 Jun 2018 06:52:20
Akshit while I agree with the latter part of your post regarding us winning trophies to keep our best players, I think your jumping a gun a little with the keita comment, saying that one brilliant season with us and he'll leave.
And as for Bobby, I'd rather lose any player from our team, and yes I'm including Mo than lose Bobby.

'Ed0333's Note - hey scousedel I still get abused and I’m an Ed'

Poor soul, wish you'd leave him alone Ed1! ;)

Thanks for the info Scousedel it is indeed worrying if true but I don't believe it to be so personally mate.

Agree6 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he deserves it mate. And he loves it. If I didn't give him abuse he would feel lost.}

19 Jun 2018 07:44:31
Risky strategy.
If he did end up at Madrid it would not only undo all the work involved in negotiations but most worryingly, leave us scratching around for an alternative with not much time. It would be a disaster.

Agree1 Disagree3

19 Jun 2018 07:57:14
Hahaha love it mate!

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - the worrying thing is he always says it is what gets him up in the mornings, but he won't clarify what he means by up. It is disturbing.}

19 Jun 2018 08:12:37
Who do Madrid have to negotiate with, us or RBL?

Agree3 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - us.}

19 Jun 2018 08:34:53
Shall we all panic now?
So Madrid are now buying Keita and Mane from us?
Don't worry folks, both will be wearing the red shirt next season. The press have to print SOMETHING to generate revenue.

19 Jun 2018 08:46:32
I apologize to scousedel it probably didn't come across very well. No malice was intended. The last thing I want to do is come across as a troll.
I didn't know the deal could be scuppered.

19 Jun 2018 09:35:31
Bloody hell ed, got me slightly worried now. Not likely is it.

Agree0 Disagree1

{Ed001's Note - it would be a big surprise as he is a Liverpool fan that always said he wanted a move to Liverpool.}

19 Jun 2018 10:12:26
Didn’t the same happen to Mikel going to Utd Ed? All agreed but then Chelsea came and topped it?

Agree1 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - No, that was fraud conducted by a Norwegian chap.}

19 Jun 2018 12:53:58
Is Keita really THAT good? Not so much the RM wanting to pay double, but is he a player who can single handed win the league? Obviously that’s impossible, but some players are the difference needed. I Don’t recall reading we were up against many to sign him.

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Jun 2018 13:02:21
Yeah, well, we weren't up against many when we signed: Salah, Coutinho, Suarez. Or at least we don't know much on that :D As it should be.

Obviously he is good, if we're willing to get a deal with a one-year waiting period. Looking forward to seeing him play for Liverpool.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 13:33:02
McFurgen - depends what you need. If you have a world class attack and defense and no-one linking them together, yes he could be the player to win you the league. If you've got a decent team all round and he's your superstar player, no he's not even close to that good.

Anyway, as Ed001 has said it is us that anyone wanting him now would have to negotiate with, I think we can probably put this one safely to bed as we're not going to be accepting offers for him are we?

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 15:16:57
We have a world class attack and a decent defence, he will be key to carry the ball in midfield and add a real edge to our threat in possession.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 16:15:49
SGRed, agreed, I think many people are unaware how much he'll bring to the team, I've watched him for two seasons straight and the lad is the real deal. Our midfield overall I wouldn't of called it weak but without Hendo I would. Next season with Keita this changes, he's going to be excellent. I see people worrying about these RM claims, I wouldn't it's not going to happen.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 16:25:32
It's all good Mark, like I said there could be nothing in it. All I know is that no Keita shirts are allowed to be printed at all. But zero reason given, so staff are speculating hence the rumour. I hope there isn't anything in it, I don't think there is but it's just a strange one out the blue.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 16:43:08
Has Nobby even been given a number yet? Maybe waiting on other transfers to sort that out.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 18:13:57
His number is 8. Thanks Salah. That’s the thing I don’t know enough but he’s being banned around like the final piece of anyone’s jigsaw. Glad he’s top draw. Hope he settles in.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 18:15:05
Players are given a holding number so they can still process orders. Fabinho was 99 when he signed so orders could go through whilst they updated everything officially. I would assume that Keita had one also but no shirts can be done at the moment. The lack of reason why is the worrying part, they aren't even being fobbed off or reassured. It's just a flat out don't do any.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 18:19:48
Agree with Swish there. Considering the ruckus when Firmino switched from 11 to 9 when Salah arrived. For instance. Just sit tight and enjoy the summer.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 18:40:16
Thanks Ed001. So, as unlikely as it is, RM could strike a deal with RBL (with the player's agreement of course) whereby he could never arrive with us and we couldn't do anything about it?

As you said, extremely unlikely for so many reasons, but interesting (and concerning! ) that it could happen without our consent.

Has this sort of thing happened before? Where the buying club hasn't had a say in a deal being bought out?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed002's Note - perhaps I should try to curtail this weird discussion. The Real Madrid interest was last year when Liverpool and RBL were discussing, but had not agreed, how much of an additional payment the club would need to make in order to buy the player this summer. Real Madrid considered striking a similar deal but dropped their desire to do so and Liverpool came to an agreement with RBL and coughed up the additional payment. There is no offer now, no pre-contract to buy out - nothing. Nobby will be able to join from July 1.}

Thank you Ed002 :)

Imagine how annoyed you'd be if your surname was Keita and you kept being told by the club that you couldn't put it on your shirt and you're just like. it's my name!

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 01:39:22
would this mean that Madrid would buy Keita from RB or would they buy him from us?

Agree0 Disagree0

18 Jun 2018 19:15:30
Hello Eds,

What is the situation with Sturridge, obviously the club would like to offload him. Is it the price tag the club want or his wages? My assumption is the club would not replace him if he left either.

Believable1 Unbelievable0

{Ed002's Note - if he were to leave he would need to be priced at a level where it would be acceptable and, critically, he would have to have realistic wage demands. I don’t see him going anywhere just for the money nor anywhere he doesn’t want to be. Injuries mean it will be hard for clubs to sign up for what might be a risk.}

18 Jun 2018 19:58:14
Both Sturridge and Markovic are in similar positions in that they are both on good wages and the club want to recoup a lot of the outlay on both. Both will need to reduce wages as well.

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Jun 2018 03:14:14
I read the club had set their price for Studge at £15 mil. Thinking some club's would see him as a bargain at that price in the current market.

Agree0 Disagree2

19 Jun 2018 05:24:01
i am very surprised with studgers injury management. he is just not able to keep fit. must be terribly frustrating for a player.
cant do much if you are not playing.

Agree1 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 07:28:10
Pretty sure Markovic is only on 35k, but Studge is on around 120k, both need to go though.

Agree2 Disagree0

19 Jun 2018 09:31:49
$15 mil a bargain price? Th guy has played less than 50 games in 3 seasons including 5 min sub appearances. He’s on 100k a week at least. Just to get someone to take him off our hand at his wages will be a win.

20 Jun 2018 02:16:53
While DS was desperately unhappy and wanted to leave for some time.
He now wants to stay.
I don't Know why he changed his mind but that is an ITK fact.

Any update on Brewster signing a new long term deal?

Believable6 Unbelievable0

18 Jun 2018 17:38:08
I was under the impression that Brewster had already signed a new long term contract very recently. 5 years apparently. I suspect the club has given Brewster assurances that he will get opportunities in the first team this season.

Either way, we will need to have a significant clear out of current strikers to fit him in. We already have Firmino, Origi, Sturridge, Solanke, Ings and a couple of others who can play in that position. I wonder who, and how many, will have to leave.

Agree3 Disagree4

18 Jun 2018 17:49:16
To clarify, the reports are that a new deal has been agreed - presumably between Brewster, his representatives and Liverpool.

It hasn't actually been signed yet, but is expected to be signed within the next few days.

Agree9 Disagree0

18 Jun 2018 17:56:40
Well i assume we can rule out Sturridge and Ings as they are both been told to look for new clubs.

I believe Origi will be given pre-season to push and show that he still has what it takes to be in the team, luckily for him he isn't at the world cup so can try to impress in the early stages.

Solanke is a difficult one, he showed last year he can be a decent option, however a full year on loan playing regularly could be the catalyst he needs to push on and fulfil his potential.

If Brewster has signed a long term contract then yes that does mean he will be promoted to the first team squad, pre injury he was knocking on the door to get some game time. however he still has a long way to being fully fit!

Agree7 Disagree0

18 Jun 2018 18:12:11
It's clear Sturridges days are numbers, likely Origi too. Wouldn't be surprised if Ings left, and if not Solanke and/ or Brewster himself could go out on loan.

18 Jun 2018 18:39:07
Has Ings been told to look for another club?
