With regards to this:

"ESPN USA have just run a story that talented midfielder Edgar Ivan Pacheco is going to go on trial with "English Premier League giants Liverpool."

. . . You wouldn't happen to have a link to this story would you?.

Oh and i say KEEP TORRES (unless he wants to go) as it's not as though we need the money is it (in theory).

From the rumours I've seen on this forum the realistic ones stand at:

Honda
Suarez
M'Vila
N'Zogbia
Taiwo
Bentley

Wouldn't be suprised if we went for 10m rated Connor Wickham, afterall NESV want to bring in young talent for the future, this lad will be an England regular when he's older. On top of that he's a Liverpool fan and teams such as Tottenham and Arsenal aren't prepared to spend the 10m asking price.

Re: "Are people seriously suggesting that we should cash in on Fernando?
believe for yes
unbel for no
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but surely none of us would actually want him to leave under any circumstance."

As I write this, there are (sadly) 51 yes and (only)54 no.

It may well be true, as has been said recently, that we are struggling to attract qulaity players - if so, we certainly do not want to lose those that we already have. Let's face it, this is the lad who turned down Manure for years until he could come to us. Most players of his calibre these days would have jumped ship to a Champions league team . And I'm sure he could have, there were plenty CL teams who would have wanted him, including the well publicised interest from Chelsea. While Cesc Fabregas was almost begging to join Barcelona prior to the World Cup, this lad wore a Liverpool FC scarf after winning the World Cup with Spain! I cannot believe that some of you want to ditch him at the first sign of a bad patch. I'm sure he is unhappy - * * ing hell, so am I! And so should all of you! Who the hell is happy with unadventurous, mid table mediocrity! I want the club back where it belongs, and Fernando Torres can definitely help us get there.

I have read on this site that it is the mere fact that we are Liverpool Football Cluib that will attract new young talent to the club. Maybe. But let's also face a very obvious fact - if you were a current world class striker weighing up an approach from us, would Liverpool Football Club be a more attractive prospect with Fernando Torres or without? Not too long ago we had 5 players that arguably deserved the title of "world class" - Reina, Gerrard, Alonso, Mascherano and Torres. And if Torres leaves, what price that Reina will smell the coffee and soon follow? And with Steven Gerrard approaching the last few years of his career. .

Would you really be happy to play the bland, mediocre, unambitious football that Roy Hodgson seems determined to dish up for us? You might if there are world class players in the team, but if they are leaving (and worse still, if the fans are happy to let them go!) you would stay well clear, wouldn't you? So maybe we could sell Fernando and get money to sign new talent, but I doubt that we will be able to get anyone who has both Torres' talent and his attachment to the club. And is there any guarantee that the talent be willing to come? And if they do come, let's hope that the wife doesn't get homesick after three months iof moaning about the weather and the food. .

So, I'm sure that Roy is a very nice man, but I personally would prefer that he go off and be nice somewhere else, and that Fernando Torres stays and regains his best form in a team that provides the service he thrives on. And that the next time we see him lifting a major trophy with a Liverpool scarf around his neck, the red shirt also has a Liver bird.

Love that they were all standing OUTSIDE Anfield, in the freezing temp and deep snow no less, shaking hands!

Stop telling fibs you WHOPPER!*sigh* mate, he mite not of meant literally 'outside' anfield, he cd of meant just inside the stadium or whatever

I live in Australia and have just watched him play for Perth against Melbourne victory so I can confirm ths rumour is utter bullocks

18 Dec 2010 21:29:29
Not so much a rumour as a comment on the 'should we cash in on Torres' thread. Nearly 50% of people on this site believe we should sell him! Can you imagine if Torres reads that post? He is one of the few world class players we have and some of you whine about his attitude. With the current state of the team and Hodgson in control, would you be motivated? I for one hope he doesn't read it and decide he might as well go back to Spain. The players do get to hear about comments on sites like this, Konchesky as an example. Torres looks a different player when he's being fed by Stevie G. He needs quality around him to bring out the best. So rather than moan about his body language/ attitude, let's support him. For those who care about work rate more than quality, look at Kuyt, fantastic work rate but he runs around like a headless chicken, and invariably passes the ball backwards or gives it away. Yet he's supposed to be a Kop favourite? I live in NZ and sit up to watch the footy live, often at 4am. Most of the LFC games are beyond dull. Am I the only one who wants exciting, creative football more than winning games with tedious, unimaginative football?

Ronaldiniho will not be coming to LFC, he does not fit in with NESV's structure(Age & Wages).
On the other hand Keisuke Honda will sign, a fee has been agreed for £11.5 million he will be the only January signing.
Summer will see the major changes, Roy hodgson will defenitley be sacked but his replacement has not yet been decided though im fairly sure it will be one of Andre villas boas, Owen coyle, Martin Jol, Kenny or Pep guiradola. Deadwood/ Garbage like Poulsen, Konchesky, Jovanovic Etc. will be sold.
A fairly large budget will be given to the new manager, as there will be a different manager new targets have not been identified. But I do know that Damien commoli has identified Eden Hazard, Juan Mata, Harry novillo and Yann m'vila.

Its not gospel just what a few reliable sources have told me!

So any news on ronaldinho being seen outside anfield? and honda?

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -

I do not live in England and have never been there, but I am certain that the statement about Ronaldinho and Honda being at Anfield is a lie, if the information about the weather situation in and around Liverpool are true (even the game was called off!). I guess that planes will not fly and land under these circumstances, will they?

Furthermore, Milan has a match tonight aginst Roma and Ronaldinho is in the squad, so it seems to be very unlikely that he was in Liverpool today. .

Moreover, I think that Honda would certainly be recognized at the Japanese airport because of his flashy style. But there any news about this in the (Japanese) internet.

Taken from goal.com

* *

Charles N'Zogbia has emerged as a transfer target for Liverpool, after Reds officials concluded they are likely to be priced out of the race to sign Ashley Young.

However, with Spurs and Manchester United both said to be ready to bid for the England international, Villa are likely to demand a fee of around £20 million, putting him beyond Liverpool's reach. .

* *

If it were true, it would be so typical of Liverpool to buy cheap and just hope a player performs. The players that are rated at £20M are usually world class - hence their price.

I would rather buy 1 world class player at £20M than get 3 in the shape of Diouf, Diao and Cheyrou again!

Isn't Barwick a self confessed Liverpool fan?

Personally, i hope it is Brian Barwick because yes he is a liverpool fan and he may well be one of the 80% who think woy isn't up to the job. . . . oh and guess who's job it will be to sack him. . . . .
=============================
But do you think Barwick would be any good? He used to be in charge of football on ITV and poached both Des Lynam and Steve Rider from the BBC. Both soon left after unfavourable feedback of their style on ITV. But I have always disliked ITV coverage of football. Yes I am lucky to have Sky Sports, but it is miles better than both ITV and the BBC. But I suppose Barwick is a Liverpool fan so it always helps.

{Editor's Note: It is tough to say. I would expect the search to be on-going and that discussions could take place with respect to a new manager coming in over the summer. Unless they are already out of work, it is unlikely that a manager would arrive in January. I don't see Dalglish as a way forward and would not expect him to want that job.}

cheers for the feedback ed.
so roy's probably here for the duration, so we all might aswell try and get behind him (as incredibly hard as that is). its just i watched football focus today and the brighton chairman was on talking about how well they are doing with the team playing good, attacking possession football under gus poyet. and it just made me wonder why should liverpool demand anything less of there manager and players than exciting and entertaining football.

anyway rant over i'm of to the pub.

Edgar Ivan Pacheco has been offered a trial at Liverpool. He's being touted as the next big thing in Mexican Football. He would be available for around £2 million if we were to buy him. Man United scouts also been monitoring him for last year or so. Hernandez is said to be good friends with Pacheco. He will arrive early January.

I for one do not see why you are all screaming at hodgson for buying " bad players " Poulsen i agree with total waste i had high hopes for him looking at the clubs he has played at.
However Paul Konchesky we needed a left back insua has talent but he isn't focused at all and anyway we have fabio and roy had no idea favio was coming back.
Finally i know for a fact that roy isn't making many of the decisions in terms of transfers Commoli picks all the targets! Shows them to roy and then its transferred to the owners.
Believe me that's how it works.
So far in and around liverpool and from players i have spoken to
Keisuke honda
charles nzogbia are almost done.
Also i have been in touch with Saif ( who is carlton coles agent ) and he has been told that liverpool interest in him has dropped significantly due to the introduction of Damien Commoli
I speak the truth. Liverpool are looking at 6-8 players to contact and hoping to land a minimum of 4.
Finally i can reveal that the reason liverpool have said they are not going to bid for suarez is become as the editor has explaind they are looking to be a lot more discreet and proffensional most of the deals will be completed like the Raul Meireles transaction.
4 players will be signed. I'd bet my season ticket on it.

{Editor's Note: I would not want Richard Dunne at all - and he has to be at least 30 now. There is no way that Taiwo will be moving to Liverpool in January, nor Suarez in all probability.}

Why not Taiwo or Suarez?
Taiwo is out of contract in the summer and would be available for 5 million. .marseille just bought fanni and if United knock them out it could be a real possilbility!

As for Suarez, he may have a attitude but the guy is quality and can score goals more that can be said for most our team and may be cheaper due to his attitude. about 10 million and babel would get him! !

{Editor's Note: You need to realise a couple of things - whilst Marseille have agreed to buy Fanni - he is a right back whereas Taiwo is a left back. If he does leave, andt there is every chance he will stay in any case, it will almost certainly be to Italy (probably AC Milan). Suarez will probably not move until the summer where he will have a number of options - it is most unlikely that Liverpool will be near the top of his list.}

Are people seriously suggesting that we should cash in on Fernando?
believe for yes
unbel for no
Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but surely none of us would actually want him to leave under any circumstance.

DEMPSEY

HONDA

oh dear god, only Honda is worth signing out of those 4. the others are not worthy at all.

wrong hangeland(thats how its spelt btw) is worth signing he is better than skrtel and is more of a goal threat than him. Dempsey I agree would not be a signing but honda would be and nzogbia would be on the bench but is better than anything we have on their now.

U trying to keep us in the midtable ha , , , we need player like suarez, , , last season 49 goals in 48 games more than any other striker in europe, , , and hes young which is what the new owners want for liverpool, and tevez is an amazing player so how u can call him carp i don't know

Firstly Suarez did score 49 goals last season so did Afonso alves in 2007 in the same rubbish Dutch league, were is he now?. As for tevez are you serious? What about mascherano and insua the argies can't settle over here and have no loyalty at all.

I've just seen Ali G (Daniel Commolli) on Sky Sports News, clearly nothing of any note is going to occur in the January window. It seems to me that Liverpool are finding it difficult to attract quality.

All I say is this; remember Raul Meireles. He signed without the press or the fans knowing about it. Commolli is not going to come out and state which players he likes, or what money there is to spend.

Torres swap for a johnson and richards? what do you think bout tht ed? {ed's note - so we would go from having one top class striker to none? No thanks, that would put us in serious danger of being relegated. Only reason to make that move is if we signed two strikers first, otherwise it is a terrible deal for us.}

{Editor's Note: Cazorla remains a maybe - but he does not play in a position which needs immediate attention. Suarez seems unlikely, but possible, certainly in January.}

Cazorla is a left wing with pace and creativity; I think he does play in a position which needs immediate attention!

Moreover, i'm starting to get the impression that NESV don't understand football. Unfortunatley, there is a need in the modern game to stump up the wedge if you want the right players. Outlining acquisition criteria similarly to pension fund management doesn't sit right in football.

NESV need to realise that a comprehensive injection of capital in players is required now in order to propell the team back into championship contention and champions league football. Maybe then will they be able to implement their investment strategy as the quality players around the globe may then want to come to a succesful club.

They are running the risk of pushing us further into mid table stagnation. We have quality players in Gerrard, Reina and Torres but they're all coming of age and maybe have another good 3 seasons in them until we have a Carragher situation emerging.
What happens then with no second string in the background? NESV need to realise sharpish that success in this sport means dishing out the ackers and they need to do it sharpish.

It should not be about selling torres but about finding worldclass replacments as back up and rotation as we are the only club with 1 striker

Any new about antonio cassasno. ive heard hes signed with ac milan, other reports saying hes agreed sumthin with sampdoria to continue playing for less. whats the news ed? ?

{Editor's Note: I was told yesterday that the move to Milan will probably go ahead. My understanding is that the two matters to be dealt with are financial and relate to a payment that Real Madrid are due and agent fees.}

also steven defour?? a possibility? i know hes been endlessly linked with united but surely jovanovic can talk us up to his old team-mate. possibility of signing him ed? ?/ /

{Editor's Note: As I am sure you are aware he is injured so will not be moving in January. I would expect him to go to Manchester United in the summer if they are still interested. If not, he will have other options, one of which may well be Liverpool. Don't hold your breath over this one.}

Reports say we are after 3 players costing us a total of 40million pounds. alexander anyukov from zenit, yuri sahin from dortmund yann m'villa (spelling)

anyukov 28 yr old who just won the russian premier league with zenit
sahin who is playing very well for dortmund and honestly look like they will win the bundesliga and well the only possible signing would be m'villa who ive never heard of until now. what do u think ed, maybe for summer window? ?

{Editor's Note: All of the players have been linked for a while and all would improve the squad. I am not sure the immediate issues would be dealt with by their arrival in January.}

If man city want torres its a perfect time really, torres it out of form and we could get players that we can't afford like Tevez, A Johnson in a swap deal with some money aswell i would do the swap we shouldnt sell him just for money because we arew not sure that the owners will keep the money

If we are to get rid of torres which in my view is taking a step backwards, then I would want Johnson and Richards I don't really rate adebayor I think he's a lazy stricker.

Torres is not perfoming well at club and international level. .if his poor perfomances are down to the fact that he wants to leave liverpool then does that mean he want's to quit Spain too?The reason Torres is not sharp as before is because of injuries not the lack of service.He plays with Alonso, Xavi, Iniesta and Villa but still his not sharp.ROSICKY, EDUARDO, AQUILANI, ROONEY, VAN PERSIE and TORRES are finding the going tough. .great players being wasted.

I bet it was just one post that started this torres debate. relax people, villas boas and a few good players will come in, and there will be a smile on torres' face again (and gerrard and reina etc.) I think NESV know all this and they'd rather spend money tweaking the squad than let reina and torres leave and then spending even more money to completely rebuild.

I'm not surprised torres is sad. just listening to roy makes me sad too.

Guy's give Torres a break. There ant a better stricker the would even entertain the idea of coming to us. Ok. I agree Torres ant playing to his best ability, but he is only one man. To be honest we just ant got the players to give Torres or any stricker the service they need. Plus RH is not the man for us.

This bid for david bentley aint that bad. hes a good player with some talent but we all know about his bad attitude. if he did join us, i think ynwa and the fans would set him straight. telling him if he wants to play, get rid of the attitude coz hes playing for the biggest club in the world. look bentley aint the biggest player in the world, if we can keep torres happy (for now) then surely we can keep bentley from whinging and improve his attitude

Honestly im feeling good about this supposed bid for suarez. i think a partnership with torres would help not himself but torres. this is the guy that torres has been needing for a few years. if the bid is true, i think suarez would accept. we saw he could defend at the world cup, handballing on the line, in the end it saved uruguay. what do u think ed, any possibility of suarez joining?? ? ?

also santi carzorla (spelling) i havent seen much of him, but when ive watched him ive been impressed. is santi the right guy for us ed??

{Editor's Note: Cazorla remains a maybe - but he does not play in a position which needs immediate attention. Suarez seems unlikely, but possible, certainly in January.}

Do people forget that after winning the World Cup with Spain, Fernando Torres celebrated with a Liverpool scarf? His problem is the utter tripe that surrounds him on the field and in the dug out! Gerrard, Riena, Torres and Lucas are the only ones who can do something at the moment.

- - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - -I think u forget a player by the name of RAUL MEIRELES. He was not given the media hype like Joe Cole or something but he is undoubtedly the best buy of the summer and way better than Lucas, so if you cannot have Meireles in that list of yours, please remove Lucas too from that. Meireles is the one to remotely replace Gerrard (if RH decides to make him play upfront with Torres) in the midfield.

Feeling very sorry for torres right now hes a world class striker he scored 2 for spain in their euro qualifier i mean the total nonsense around him must be unbearable no player is bigger than the club however you can't give a player like him like TWO chances to score does that even make sense to you?
Honda
Suarez
Nzogbia.
N'zogbia and honda im very confident
Suarez - not sure we'll see
btw Santi of villareal is super just like david silva very good player if we signed
Honda Santi and charles we'd be sorted until the summer to finish 5th ( maybe 4th depending on others).
