Good Afternoon redmen,

Hope you are well,

Sorry the loan update is late there just isn't enough hours in the day!

A weekend to forget for Wilson and Hull as they lost 1-0 to Sheffield Wednesday.
Wilson did however score in their previous mid week game, the 5-0 win over Burton and the young Welshman was voted the Hull player of the month.

Chirivella continues to impress for Willem II as they beat NAC Breda 2-1. It was Chirivella's 27th full outing this season for the dutch team.
Willem II are almost safe for the season.

Markovic started a second game in succession for Anderlecht as they beat Club Brugge 1-0.
Hopefully he starts to settle and kick starts his once promising career.

Arroyo and Mallorca B's won again! This time a 4-0 demolition of Esporles.
This takes his unbeaten run since joining the club to 10 games.

Origi started on the bench for Wolfsburg as they hosted Ausburg. With the score at 0-0 he came on as a second half substitute and missed a glorious chance to win them the game!
It finished 0-0.

Sturridge came on for the final few minutes to help west Brom beat Man U. :)

Grujic was an unused sub as Cardiff got back to winning ways with a 2-0 win over Norwich.

Flannaghan played so poorly in the midweek defeat to Millwall that he was dropped from the squad for the weekend match against Burnley!

Ejaria was an unused sub as Sunderland drew 1-1 with Reading.

Matty Virtue and Notts County continued their promotion chase with a 3-1 win over Colchester.

Chester's relegation was confirmed this week with a 3-2 defeat to Boreham Wood. Andy Firth continues to deputise in goal which will be great experience for the youngster.

Keita was rested after a busy period and only made a late sub appearance as RBL drew 1-1 Werder Bremen.

Kent and Ojo did not make the match day squads, Whelan and Awoniyi both missed out through illness and Connor Randall and Hearts had the week off.

And there's your lot redmen.

What happened to Flannagan, I remember him playing under Kenny, he looked like he would be a solid defender for a years to come.

He came into a side winnng games for his first decent run in the side which is always easier to do. I think the fact he was a scouser and gave 110% effort made the fans warm to him.
I actually read an article at the end of that season that he had been beaten by the attacker on average per game more than any other player in the prem which ring alarm bells to me (although stats can be misleading)
I actually think fans may have been a little blinkered? i for one thought he looked a god full back but the fact he can’t make the Bolton squad points to him maybe not being as good as we thought he was.

{Ed001's Note - injuries and a poor attitude are his problem. He would rather go out on the lash and have a good time than put in a few extra hours training and then going home to rest and recuperate. He could have been good but the desire just wasn't there when problems hit.}

19 Apr 2018 15:10:34
Ed01 - interesting that! I thought his attitude is what got him the opportunity in the 1st team with us. Has he just given up? Why would he do that when he was building a good reputation for himself?

Agree0 Disagree0

{Ed001's Note - he had a good attitude to get there, but the injury changed it. He was a kid who was unable to train or go to work etc each day, but had lots of money and free time. The injury put him at a low ebb mentally and he was bored. It is a very common problem in football and why so many end up addicted to stuff, as they are not properly cared for or educated to deal with boredom or any other aspect of their own mental health and wellbeing.}

19 Apr 2018 15:27:22
Injuries have taken their toll on Flanagan and think we should release him in the summer.

19 Apr 2018 19:37:08
Sooner he's out the better, he's a fool to himself. I was actually very excited about him at one point but he blew it, if he'd of got his head down and worked harder he'd of been something today. But then we had the issues the other month with him beating on his girlfriend, no respect from me, I'll be glad to see the back of him.

I see we're being linked with Neves. Can't find anything through the search engine sayjng that we're linked. Is it nonsense?

Believable7 Unbelievable0

18 Apr 2018 15:36:50
Its some agent apparently suggesting it, can't see wolves having been promoted being too pleased with that. Although it is that leach of a person who takes all kind of money out of the game that is his direct agent.

Agree6 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 15:56:54
The agent is Jorge Mendes i think, according to the story he has both neves and talisca on his books. The story says he is trying to set up a move for Neves to LFC and talisca for Wolves. Would be a bit of a tasty pay day for him I guess.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 16:48:23
I'd be happy with Neves. He's taken to the rough and tumble of the championship and stood head and shoulders above the rest.

Agree5 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 18:33:51
Neves was too good for the Championship but his agent couldn't engineer a move last season. His performances have shown he's a star and Wolves got a more than fair return for what was a giant fee for a Championship club. Selling him isn't really necessary -- the plan was always to be in the premier league -- but I think he will move again in the summer. Wouldn't mind a 21 year old with his talents in the squad, that's for sure!

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 22:41:40
I'd love Neves here, for no other reason than he is one of the stars of CM15 and I always buy him!

Agree2 Disagree2

19 Apr 2018 09:37:15
Doesn't his agent also own a percentage of Wolves?

Agree0 Disagree1

19 Apr 2018 12:23:40
Its not that his agent couldn't get him a Prem move, more that Mendes is some sort of director or something for Wolves and has moved his pawns around to get Wolves promoted, and its worked. I am sure Mended will get some bonus for his part in that, and will now profit should any clubs come calling for the players he represents.
The Chinese owners of Wolves now also have stakes in Mendes' company, its all incestuous all benefiting each other in kind.
I do like Neves though, just feel its lazy journalism. We were linked the last two summers and we have a CM leaving, link is too obvious to make.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Apr 2018 12:25:55
Other way round, Spud, was reading that the Chinese owner of Wolves also bought a 20% stake in Mendes's (agent) agency before buying Wolves.

Agree0 Disagree0

20 Apr 2018 11:57:17
I think it's the owners of Wolves who owns a stake in his agency.

I've seen a lot of clamouring for Mathis de Ligt recently.

A huge talent by the looks of it but why are people so keen to sign him when it would / could be a blocker to Gomez? You know, the 20 year old talent defender we already have in our team?

Seriously, if we were to sign a CB, it needs to be someone on par with VVD in both experience and current ability.

I don’t see the point in buying an 18 year old when Joe Gomez is clearly a big talent himself.

Believable32 Unbelievable3

18 Apr 2018 11:55:33
If someone of that talent and potential is available you sign him. Massive if but if he came klopp would likely make say matip and klavan available and we'd then have 4 1st team cbs. 2 more experienced 2 young looking to get in the team.

But also do remember lovren has had shockers and it wouldn't be a surprise if neither Matip or Lovren were in klopps plans.

Agree4 Disagree5

18 Apr 2018 13:20:35
Lovren next to VVD looks far better though. Lovren has cut out a lot of the errors but tend to struggle against certain opposition. He’s had a tough time from us as a fan base at times but he’s got his head down and always give 100% which I think should be appreciated.

Agree18 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 13:20:40
I'd have to disagree. you only sign someone of huge talent if you need them and it would be of benefit to both parties.

it wouldn't be of benefit to de ligt or gomez to warming the bench and our money could be better invested elsewhere.

you don't really rotate CB's like you do other positions and in the main need a settled back 4.

Agree3 Disagree3

18 Apr 2018 13:23:11
Matthijs de Ligt will be a top top player.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 14:01:40
De Ligt is a couple of years away at least and could be cover for Klavan but I get your point OP.

Agree2 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 14:02:24
Agreed Cesar. It seems like the overt show of support from fans after the Spurs away game (voting player of the month and all) has helped Lovren turn a corner. And recently he's been very good bar the ManU game.

Agree5 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 16:43:57
Completely agree with 87 here, we have Gomez and that's that, if we was to sign such a player we'd be practically forcing Gomez out, something none of us want to see.

It's getting to that time of the year again though, we're 'linked' with literally everybody and his mother.

Agree1 Disagree0

18 Apr 2018 22:17:44
To be fair Salah, I hear his mother is a decent footballer with potential to replace Can.

Agree0 Disagree0

19 Apr 2018 15:13:22
Klavan and Matip will probably be gone in the summer which leaves us with VVD, Lovren, Gomez (and De ligt if he comes)
So even playing a normal back 4 means we have 2 experienced players and 2 young players for cover.

during early cup games it would be great to have Gomez and De ligt starting with vvd and Lovren rested.

Who knows the 2 youngsters could be a long term partnership when VVD and Lovren start to lose their legs.
Lovren is 28 in a couple of months. When he hits 30, Gomez will be 23, perfect age to begin his push into a permanent starting 11 spot at CB.

VVD is nearly 26 so by the time he is 30 De Ligt will be close to 22, again a good age to start pressuring VVD for the starting 11 spot. And after 4 years he should be well and truly intergrated into the squad and comfortable playing alongside Gomez.

My thoughts anyway xD

Although as someone else said, i’d rather we got another experienced CB and use Lovren as the experienced cover. He has excelled next to VVD but we never know if it'll last as he has been shocking for so long.

Agree1 Disagree0

If we buy him as cover he won't be getting much game time wich will hinder his developmwnt.
