Hi eds. Just wanted to ask why is it that altho there may be a glimmer of a chance of signing llorente in the future, there is no chance of signing cavani? {Ed002's Note - Price, his stated desire to move to another club, their desire for him.}

Hi Eds

I was talking to Razor "Niel Ruddock" my brother works in the bar of the hotel he stays in) We watch Liverpool games on ESPN, I asked him whats happening at our club? He said John Henry has told KK & DC he want's CL football next season. But the most shocking thing that he said was a few lfc legend's feel Kk buys have been really poor Downing & Adam not good enough to wear the red shirt (lol you got to watch a game with him, his like a ticking bomb).

For those who Don't believe me I've got pic's so i'll upload them, I think he might come do to watch the bolton game this weekend.

TheBA300

Not sure you can take anything Razor says seriously. A despicable character who was the driving force behind the party boy attitude in the 90's and got up to some disgusting things in local clubs that are documented (treating fans like poor beggars etc). I can't think of one reason that any legend would be seen dead with him, let alone discussing transfers {Ed001's Note - Ruddock is a knob, a complete and utter tosser who is not remembered with any kind of fondness by the staff at Liverpool.}

Upload them then!

Razor stays at The Hard Days Night Hotel.
I used to work there, I know the staff, who was it?
Plus, the hotel doesn't have ESPN

Only decent buys have been Suarez añd Enrique. Adam,Downing, Carroll and Henderson have been appalling. We should be in the market for world class players not mediocre rubbish. Been a scouser and LFC fan for 43 years and this is one of the worst teams I've seen

Your first mistake was listening to anything Neil Ruddock says.

I think saying only decent buys are Suarez and Enrique is a little harsh. I would say that those two would start for any EPL team and would get into any team in the world.

Henderson has grown leaps and bounds, and if he continues to develop at this rate he will be one of our best players in a few seasons.

Adam is definitely a temporary buy. He was bought to add depth. He is also a very dedicated player who really needs to keep working on his fitness.

Carroll has only shown glimpses of his ability. He needs a lot of support from the fans if he has any chance of being successful. He also just really needs to work on his fitness and his first touch.

Downing has been ok. He has great pace, but he has been very timid so far. He seems like a player who really comes into his own after he settles into the team, which he clearly hasn't done yet. Plus, name another out-and-out winger we could have signed.

Bellamy is the signing of the summer. I just wish he could play more games.

We cannot attract world class players right now. To do that means we either need to offer ridiculous wages or have CL, or both - we have neither.

We are definitely moving in the right direction, but we need a clinical finisher. I do think the club is avoiding buying a big name because Kenny is banking on Carroll developing, Suarez returning, and Bueno signing in the summer. Carroll and Bueno are young, and Suarez is also pretty young. Spending a lot of money on another player who will want to start means that someone else will get less playing time.

Just have faith in our team! Kenny basically oversees the team. SC coaches the team. Comolli is in charge of scouting and recruiting. This group needs time to make changes. No team goes from mid-table without any youth prospects to top-four with a lot of hope for the future overnight. We're on the right path. It just may take another season before we're there.

CSeiling

Totally agree , should have bought Mata to Downing . Henderson is no were near worth the money we payed , since Adam left Blackpool, majority of free kicks an crosses have been poor and Carroll well do I need to explain {Ed001's Note - easy in a fantasy world to say that, but not so easy to do. I am sick of these childish posts about how we should have bought Player A instead, no one ever thinks about whether we could have actually got that player!}

Nothing that we didn't already know. thanks a lot.

Thanks cseiling - forgot about Bellamy who has been a great signing. Just bloody frustrated with the way things are at the moment, hopefully we will see improvement and transfer activity SOON!

It is extremely frustrating to watch the team right now because if only a few more breaks had gone our way then everything would be looking good. They didn't go our way though, and all we can do is hope that the team takes advantage of its opportunities for the rest of the campaign. If they can do that, then we will have a successful season. They need our support more than ever now though. This is a period that will make or break the season, and without our full support then they won't succeed.

I can clearly see that Henderson, Adam, Carroll and Downing are terrified of disappointing the fans, so they're not playing with any confidence. We need to support them, defend them and cheer for them as much as possible to make them feel at home. That's the only way we will be able to see whether they are good enough to stay for the next few seasons.

They're our players, and no one else is going to cheer for them and support them. If we need a few players for the next season then we can worry about that over the summer, but we just need to support our team for the rest of the campaign.

I do think we're one poaching striker away from being one of the best teams in the league; he would relieve the goalscoring pressure from the rest of the team, and no one would be complaining about KK's signings. I think he filled all of the missing pieces very well, but he didn't expect Kuyt to be out of form, Suarez to struggle with finishing, and Carroll to be lacking in confidence for such a long and simultaneous stretch during the season.

We're extremely close to being an elite team though, so have faith in our signings - just imagine if we converted half of those home draws to wins, which would have happened if we had a striker in form.

Thanks!

CSeiling

I despise this fool as much as most supporters. Unfortunately, that doesn't mean he doesn't know what is going on at LFC.

To CSeiling
Your two post are spot on if i can add that look where the club was 14 months ago on the verge of bankruptcy and look how far we have come. We have to also remmember that Liverpool will always have to pay inflated fees for players due to our standing in the game and the history we have created.
Fans also need to acknowledge that we also need to pay for a new stadium at some point.
Aldo

R u lot messing? have abit of faith in Kenny will ya's!, ur forgetting that kenny once bought players like John Aldridge, John Barnes and Peter Beardsley... all of the were 'medeocre' players when bought and are now legends of the game, success isnt installed, its grown!... et a grip and act like real liverpool fans

You are all idiots - turn 3 home draws to wins which they should have been and we would be in 4th place...Bearing in mind where we were this time last year how can you say this is the worst team in years. There are people on this site that are Liverpool supporters but know absolutely nothing about football...learn the game before you comment!

Idiots? That's a bit harsh.

The problem is that we will have more home draws. We're easy to play against. Teams like Stoke, Swansea, Norwich and Sunderland are more than happy to get a draw at Anfield. All they need to do is defend and they can sit back and watch lots of nice passing.

Take Stoke as an example. Sorensen was hardly troubled. We had 60% of possession. We score once in every 6 or 7 attempts on goal. Man City score 1 in 3 attempts.

We play the same way every game. Pass, pass, pass, cross, give away possession.

There are no passes that cut defences open allowing a speedy striker a free shot at goal.

The only saving grace we have this season is Gerrard and Suarez hitting it off when they finally get a few games together. Hopefully that will encourage Downing, Henderson and Carroll. That's what they need.

Razor ruddock ! now there is a player who should never been allowed to wear the liverpool shirt !

Blimey! Listening to some of these comments you would think the season has been a disaster so far? We still have half the season to play and we are on the verge of a cup final at Wembley, still in the FA Cup and lie only 4 points of 4th spot, plus we have beaten the likes of Arsenal, Chelsea (twice) Man City and we can boast one of the meanest defences in the PL. If we had a poacher in the mould of say a Robbie Fowler heaven knows where we would be now! Have some faith chaps, the good times are just around the corner!

Of course it hasn't been a disaster. Yes, we've got one of the meanest defences...but we've also got one of the lowest number of goals scored.

Next week, if Man City score a goal at Anfield what are we going to do? We'll panic, push up too much trying to get a goal and conceed another. That's us out of the Carling Cup.

FA Cup. Hoping that we don't conceed and managing to snatch a goal is no way to progress.

Yes, we're only 4 points of 4th. We should be 3 points of 3rd. We're not. We can't score.

It's simply no good talking about our defence when we can't score. I don't care if we conceed 5 goals in every game - as long as we score 6! It's no good scoring 1 more than the opposition in every 3rd game.

I can't see where the goals are coming from (apart from Suarez / Gerrard hitting it off).

The good times will happen as soon as we start scoring but don't assume that's just around the corner...We must hope that KD knows what he's doing and his plans fall into place when Suarez is back or that KD admits he got it wrong and buys some new players.

Ed's heard off a source that liverpool are going to buy Luc Castaignos? is it true ive never heard of him, was wondering if you knew who he played for etc

Manno {Ed002's Note - Try the search function please.}

I think we will get him i sent this in myself

17 Jan 2012 22:29:16
Cavani and Llorente offered to PSG along with Tevez, Torres, Berbatov and Pavlyuchenko. Ed's on Cavani and Llorente if we made a bid do you think they would come or is it all about the money with these guys? {Ed002's Note - You are reading too much in to what CA said. Cavani is not moving to Liverpool - Llorente might be an option at some point but probably not before the summer.}

17 Jan 2012 22:17:48
I have just checked on the L'Equipe sports paper site in France and they're saying Roux has been bought in to soften the blow of Sow leaving for the ACON. Make of that what you will.

17 Jan 2012 22:03:29
Not a rumour but i would just like to know your opinion on Moussa sow, Texeira and De jong and whether you believe there good enough for us?

They are all quite young, but look promising so, only time will tell, with the right support they will become great players.

Teixera and de jong are young and exciting and when u look at their career to date even at youth level they have both.scored lots of goals each season. Mousa sow however is simply having a good year the past 12 months. He would be another djibril cisse imo.
Jayo

17 Jan 2012 21:44:55
Ed001 is doumbia a possible signing? I know he is at ACON but cisse has signed for NUFC and he is there aswell {Ed005's Note - Use the search function or refer to previous posts regarding Doumbia. Numerous questions have been answered regarding this player.}

17 Jan 2012 21:41:56
Hi eds .of all the liverpool striker rumours, do you think sow is the most likely to sign. {Ed005's Note - Use the search function and refer to previous posts. This question has been answered on numerous occassions. Future questions about Sow will be deleted because people are lazy.}

17 Jan 2012 21:38:27
Moussa Sow will sign for around £10M which willl involve Joe Cole signing permanently for Lille.

The Rectangle- MOUSSA SOW #10

Lets hope so !! :)

I hope so. but we'll have to wait and see.

I rather take modibo maiga from sochaux

He won't come to Liverpool this window. But maybe in the summer.

17 Jan 2012 21:38:20
I know its already been touched on but anyway, just heard an interview on newstalk (ireland). Xavier revoir (spelling has to be wrong), he's a French journo in lille. Reckons hazard going to chelsea for only 25 m . If this happens ill be sick. Surely we could put 35 m together and bid for sow and hazard...

It's not going to happen! How many times...

Oh yeah because were dripping with money. he could also do a lot better than chelsea

Why would buying there other good player too for 10 million tempt Lille in the slightest?!?!

Unfortunately at the moment we have to face the fact that we are in a transitional period yet again. Unless a top foreign player has a specific desire to play for LIverpool we are going to be down the list of potential destinations. This is because a club like Chelsea has a bigger transfer budget, appears more regularly in the CL and foreign players seem to want to play in London. This situation make take more than one transfer window to remedy.

Im sick of you doom and gloom supporters with fans like ye we are doomed and i rather they signed no 1 then medicore crap

17 Jan 2012 21:35:12
Any possibility what so ever of a deal for Demba Ba Ed? Cheers {Ed005's Note - Refer to previous posts and use the search function.}

Why would he want to sign for you lot? lower in the table, going nowhere, poor manager, lower gates oh I forgot your history ....deluded {Ed005's Note - Take it you are a Newcastle fan. Love the way you all use that "lower gates" rubbish. The demand for season tickets and tickets at Anfield is massive, you know, hence the new stadium and that. If we had a bigger stadium we would absolutly smash you lot in terms of attendance and takings on a match day. You are the one deluded if you think Newcastle are a bigger club than Liverpool. If your team loses a match or two you are hounding the manager out. You think you are a big club based on a few good years in the 90s. Knuckle down son and come back when you have a genuine case.}

I think I got a bite there."Big club" lets see who finishes higher this year we didnt turn up at your place be different up here you will get scalped .

A bite? The man spoke truth and fact mate. There's no bite back there. And the of demba ba I think it's only a matter ov time for him to move on to bigger and better.

17 Jan 2012 21:21:33
First time post. Andy Carroll is at tottenhams training ground. A swap for Defoe?? This is what I have heard!!
Sip1981

35 million for Defoe BS!!

If this is true I will cry Defoe is certainly not worth 35 million

35m striker 22 year old for 10m striker 29 years old, u wish sippy go back and post on the spuds page.

Lol - no he isn't.

Your being stupid

At 10 o'clock at night? with 2 weeks left in the transfer market...

Gman

I would loathe us to do business with Redknapp and his horrible club. Like everyone else has said financially this is clearly a bad deal but you all need to realise we may have paid 35m for Andy Carroll but he's not a 35m player and I doubt he'll ever be considered worth that again.

Sadly we may have to keep our eyes open for an opportunity where we take the most minimal possible loss on the player.

The likes of Ba or Defoe plus 15m might be a good deal for Carroll as soon as Kenny finally gives up on him.

I know player exchange deals rarely happen but I'd be pleased with any reasonable deal to get rid. As soon as I heard Kenny shouting cut it out Andy to encourage him to bother his arse to cut out a pass in the city match I knew he should be elsewhere.

I heard it was a swap for Bale and Modric

Everyone is so fickle with Carroll. It's only been a year! Give the guy a chance for several reasons:

1 - He hasn't played enough to get acclimated with our system and players.
2 - He proved at Newcastle that he can score and play well in the Prem.
3 - He's still young and has much time to improve (even if his critics have to patience for him).

It would be terrible business to give up on a guy after 12 months. Come on Reds, he needs our support now more than ever! Let's get behind our club and players!

AmRed

No offense, but there are some of us who aren't fickle at all regarding big Donkey Carroll.

I had him down as over rated before we signed him, nothing has changed except he's not playing at his absolute peak at a place he's comfortable. I did hope he would come good but he will never ever be a 35m player unless inflation goes mad.

Support isn't a one way street, he has to show something to warrant it. Yes you get a break for a while after signing but beyond that you at least have to look committed. For example Kuyt and Lucas, even when they've been awful they never stopped running or trying and that's why they were given time by both the fans and the coaching staff.

IMO the chances of him being at Liverpool for the long term are slim, he needs to turn it round immediately before people turn on him.

"I did hope he would come good but he will never ever be a 35m player unless inflation goes mad."

Only a Sith deals in absolutes.

17 Jan 2012 21:16:58
It's Liverpool vs. Fernabarche for the signature of Moussa Sow.

SSRED11

Then we will win then cause he turned them down 2 weeks ago they had an 8 mill bid accepted but sow said no he wants to go to england

belfast

Now Lille have signed Nolan Roux it does look like Sow will be leaving,fingers crossed.
CR

Sow said he doesn't want to go to turkey

But we have Joe Cole ;)

He will be in a Liverpool shirt

Why would we sign a player who may not be available until February when we currently cant hit a barn door ?

another non starting rumour.

Wow. He must be good if its just us and Fenerbahce after him !!

We should move quickly before Prescot Cables make a daring bid !

17 Jan 2012 21:14:49
Evening eds and fellow reds . Just a quick question
on the subject of sow .Do you think he will come in now our still in the summer .cheers psv {Ed005's Note - I'm not sure. If I had to guess I would say January but a simple guess.}

As Lille have just signed Roux there is a good chance Sow will be moving in Jan.

17 Jan 2012 21:13:37
Hi Ed, just wondering if a return for El Nio is a possibility or not. Many thanks. {Ed005's Note - We're fed up to the teeth of telling people NO. NO there is NO chance of Torres returning to Liverpool. This is the last time we will deal with these questions they will be deleted from now on and anyone wanting to know about Torres can use the search bar.}

Good on ya Ed, can't stand people wanting that heap of junk back here, defiling the shirt
77chris

Hooray!

About time the eds. stopped the torres returning crap

So is that a no then :)

Yes please do. This obsession with torres from some people is getting out of hand !

Guy left a year ago and hasnt been good for nearly 2 years!

50m haha

I'be never felt so happy about anything as I did when I read that note ed. I love you man, and you are the best on the planet at what you do. That is referring to all of you btw, you're all awesome.

Think it's kinda silly, to get all pissy when your asked a rumor question, this is what this is a rumor site If the question is deemed silly don't respond. Being a little petty with the whole "this is the last time speech {Ed005's Note - It isn't silly when you are asked the question about 40 times a day every day and have to give the same answer on top of the abuse we get if we say he's not returning. That is why there is a search function and that is why there are numerous rumour and banter pages for people to scan and read through. I'm sure no-one wants to see the same constant rumour pop up when they're reading the place. And as I've said before, if you don't like it then feel free to turn your mobile phone off and not read or post in the pages.}

Well said and frankly it's not out of time!

Is that a no then??

About time you started deleting them, all this torres rubbish is doing my head in! He is NEVER coming back.... good riddance as well

Tommy

17 Jan 2012 21:01:53
hhi eds
apparently fenerbace(turk) team are in lille to submit a bid 4 sow, are we intrested in the striker, and if so wat are we waitin 4, theyve had a bid accepted 4 nolan reux, surely now we should make our move if we are ofcourse intrested in him
fagan81
{Ed005's Note - I'd be surprised if a whole team travelled to Lille to submit an offer. Must be a popular player.}

Wow these eds are hilarious aint they! {Ed005's Note - We are, thank you for noticing. We have to be, editing all these pages and dealing with idiots.}

Is the kit man included in the team? it annoys me when kit men are not classed as part of the team :(

Gman

Lads just be patient like the rest of everyone id love us to sign sow so lets just wait and see !

Don't give the lad s**t for what he taught was a valid Qs, open forum and all that, only 1 person here {Ed005's Note - If you aren't happy then don't bother reading nor posting here. The eds have to put up with all the profanity, cheek etc. from the posters so if we are sarcastic or frustrated once in a while then simple - don't read/post or eat some cement and harden up.}

Haha i love this site

ste

I'm sure you do get all sorts off s**t but as eds it's expected, not fair but expected,,, my point is,, was that a 10 year old kid u just called an idiot, think about it {Ed002's Note - And what if it were? Hardly going to change the rest of his life.}

It's about having a responsibility as eds, but a clear picture is being put forward, you obviously have no kids and lack intelligence and morals, a bit of growing up to do there lads, {Ed002's Note - I have two children - so wrong there then. And telling the Eds to "grow up" seems rather idiotic - hold old do you think I am? And how do you measure intelligence - I spent 5 years at Universities gaining degrees? We can do without the anonymous soft-brained cretins like you just moaning - take it to the menopausal man's page.}

I think the op may have meant a team of representatives from Fenerbahçe have gone to Lille to submit a bid and if so then it may well be true.
Let's not knock people because of words missed out or incorrect grammar - it's not difficult to see what the op was probably trying to get across. A lot of people posting on here have problems with spelling and grammar, it shouldn't make their post any less valid.
No-one is perfect and a lot of the people that mock and ridicule these rumours are the biggest offenders when it comes to grammar and spelling - let people have their say however plausible a rumour may or may not seem, it is after all a public forum in a country that prides itself on the right of a person to speak freely, just remember that sarcasm is the lowest form of wit!

Rant over - sorry eds

17 Jan 2012 20:10:40
Ed, reports coming in that Nolan Roux has signed for Lille, were they interested in signing a striker regardless or is there a link to the potential transfer of Sow?

Cheers
Adam {Ed005's Note - It would certainly suggest something is happening with Sow - but it doesn't mean it is Liverpool though. Or it could mean that Lille just want another striker to play with Sow or increase the squad.}

But could this not be a replacement for Hazard either?
J-LK

17 Jan 2012 20:11:09
hey ed lille fc have bid for nolan roux 8m and accepted now lfc will bid for sow around 12m sow has also said to papers today liverpool would be a dream club to play for expect movment in the next couple of days
scoobytommo

Do u think sow will be good for us?

ste

Why do we want Sow he looks very average to me.

Looked really good last season and has been solid this season plus would give us a new dimension (strong, fast, plays off the shoulder) hope that helps ste

Red Rout

I THINK ITS A DONE DEAL.

To be honest i have not seen a lot of him but another striker is a plus and from what i have been told foe cole is part of the deal so we may only pay out 2m and as we got cole on a free its worth the risk

I THINK ITS A DONE DEAL

Usefull info for once by a poster on this site!

gman

We paid something like a 5m signing on fee to Joe cole, he cost us more than people realise

Average , Bent like pleayer

Completely Disagree he's strong fast and can finish very good player and still young !

17 Jan 2012 20:07:13
ed's have lille signed nolan roux? and could that pave the way for sow to join us?

Tomkop7 {Ed001's Note - yes, and very possibly.}

17 Jan 2012 19:45:52
Ed

Would bringing back mascherano on loan be an option as he is not getting played much at barca ? {Ed002's Note - No.}

What you on about mate he plays nearly every match!

Looks like this could well be true, its on Stade Brest's website confirming he will be mmoving to Lille on a 4 and a half year contract.

Would love him back more than torres. wat a top top tackler of the ball

17 Jan 2012 19:45:45
Hi Ed's, I've seen that Lille have agreed a fee for Nolan Roux. Do you think this is to replace sow, or just simply back up? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know but will see if I can find out.}

17 Jan 2012 19:44:41
A friend of a friend of mine told him that has heard that Liverpool are interested in number 9 in Bulgarian footballers for 2011 Vasil Lukaev. Any truth?
Grizzland

Wtf? Are you a fellow countryman making a joke or have the media gone crazy? The guy plays in 5th division!

Drigan

Still laughing

Drigan

A friend of a friend told me to tell you. please never post again...

Gman

Bulgarian 5th division is better than Premiership!

Hi eds. Kuyt has been shocking this year. When a players best attribute is "he runs a lot" it isnt saying much. Is there interest in kuyt from other teams? {Ed001's Note - yes.}

I think a bit more respect is in order , kujt has been a great servent to this club and has conducted himself perfectly, especially considering the varying roles he has had to adopt. Yes he has not been the dirk of old but neither has he had comprehensive playing time. If he boes good luck and thankyou for your service. If he stays he'll get my full support. He has his job . I have mine .
J496 ynwa

Spot on mate, hopefully his days are numbered. We need poacher who just runs in and around the six yard box, scoring 20 goals a season.

Heard qpr are now interested

I would expect Kuyt to be replaced in the next 12 months.

RedSG

You are not a true fan, kuyt has been a loyal servant and always gives his all, he deserves respect. although i do admit he does not fit into the way we are trying to play and to part ways now would probably be best for both parties.

gman {Ed005's Note - Because he says what we've all seen this season he's not a true fan? Stop being a big sissy. Kuyt has been a good servant but nothing more. He's no longer good enough for LFC especially playing on the wing. I guess I'm not a true fan then? Idiot.}

Ed005
kuyt has been the same this year as he has every year. he never changes. But as you can clearly see in my post i said it is time for us to part ways seeing as he doesn't fit into our new style of play..

I have a lot of respect for the EDs but unfortunately don't feel they always have respect to the people who make this site work, us! Calling people a Sissy because you don't agree with them isn't very fair, you wouldn't like it the other way round and the bloke has a fair point! {Ed005's Note - And its ok for that person to say someone isn't a true fan because he didn't agree with them? Selective reading on your part. Try reading all of the posts rather than just the eds response. And excuse us from being frustrated once in a while. The abuse, profanity, insults etc. we deal with on a daily basis are awful. If you are unhappy with the site, or the eds then by all means stop reading/posting here.}

Personally, I believe the striker's art is about being able to fashion chances for yourself with a dribble, good balance, a drop of the shoulder, positioning, a bit of pace to get you away from your opponent and then being able to time the ball and create angles when you strike it - not a comprehensive list but good predatory instincts.

But paramount to all of that is having a good first touch and that is about balance and timing.

Dirk was bought as a striker but imo he never come close to having the full skillset and that is why through years and years of watching him manfully ply his trade for us - I've come to the conclusion that he hasn't been good enough.

One goal since last May against a tiring Brighton this season, means it is time for him to go.

He has never been good enough.

Sorry mate but running alot is a big part of the game kuyt been poor this term but I've got to remeber all the good things his do e for the club when he run alot he puts defenders under pressure and maybe gets the ball or gets a sniff chance thought that was what you are suppose to do alot more to the game then getting the ball and putting the ball in the net kuyt has been a fantastic player to this club would be sad to see him leave but unfourtantely fans get on players back and confidence starts lacking good YNWA

Well said mate running is alot to do with it sooner people realise that the better!

Just a comment really. I've been saying we should get Adam Johnson since last year. He's a great talent. If we're prepared to spend £20m on downing then we should be prepared to spend £25m on Johnson. If we do have this £35m that's been speculated we should go for Johnson @ £20m and Defoe @ £10m-15m tops! We need the creativity and the goals and these 2 know the premier league and will deliver the things we need in my opinion. I know people say Sow and Llorente, etc but I strongly believe this is what we should do in THIS transfer window to give us a better chance at 4th. No matter who/if we sign they will get my full support!

Mike

Apparently Spurs want 20m for Defoe, he is 29 and i can't see Liverpool paying that amount for him.

15m for Defoe with his age is awful business. If we get him it should be on loan/free transfer/ 3m

I can't believe downing kept him out the boro side for so long

I know spurs have slapped 20m on him but if they got someone else in, that would be considerably lowered. I said 15m max and I think that's out of desperation for wanting goals!

I hope you do remember the what has happened to the last group of players with proven premiership experience. Adam Johnson and Defoe are good but there is also a reason why their clubs improved on them and then started climbing up the league to establish themselves in the top 4. Buying them will surely certify Liverpool as having cash to give the likes of Spurs who obviously know how to get good players like giving them more than 50% of the money they need for Loic Remy who is much younger and has a better all round game than Defoe. We could just easily go for Remy ourselves. Apart from Enrique, when was the last time liverpool bought a player from the premier league who showed it was an advantage to have premier league experience given the players that come to mind are the summer purchases as well as the likes of Joe Cole and Pennant along with Carroll.
A good player will turn out good no matter were the experience is from and you simply need to watch Suarez, Aguero and Ba for proof

I totally understand what you're saying! I was thinking more of the current Liverpool model of buying players though. We know so far FSG have preferred English talent to foreign and ideally young (which I know Defoe isn't) but for the time being he would get the goals we need. I get why youd go for Remy, he has amazing potential. Thing is Carroll was doing well at Newcastle as their style of play suited his, with us that is simply not the case. I really hope he does come good for us but whilst he is t and confidence is low or whatever the reason is, I'd like to the 2 players I mentioned. The point is we need someone creative an a goal scorer...whoever they I don't really mind as like I said they'd get my support an hopefully everybody's associated with Liverpool. Thanks for your point. I'd like Remy too from what I've seen of him. I just don't feel that commoli and KD will go for him. Here's to hoping we finish in at least 4th anyways.

liverpool have been kept quite over january ed, will there be any signings for the reds is so who ? {Ed002's Note - You need to read the posts or look for the round up.}

Yes but the post only show rumours and involve most footballers that are any good .... do you know any real targets ? {Ed001's Note - you obviously haven't read through then.}

17 Jan 2012 19:16:06
Hi ed's any more info on texeria? Let's get these young players before they treble in value ! And let's face it he can't be any worse than kuyt now , admired his work rate but his time at anfield is up !

I would replace kuyt with t muller works just as hard can score goals german so can bury a pen most importantly has pace and a great touch

Hey Eds

Why oh why are we not in for Papiss Cisse? he scores goals for fun in Germany. Looks like a great deal for Newcastle! Papiss Cisse + Ba = Goals

Thanks

Marc {Ed002's Note - Liverpool cannot be interested in every player alive. Sorry.}

I like Eds redple 1+!

Good answer ed
shanio1

Last season a guy posted on here that The Reds should sign Charles N'Zogbia because he can go past people and "scores goals for fun"!At Villa Mr N'zogbia has scored no goals in 20 appearances and is stinking the place out.Let's not just chase after every player who might be available and might be even reasonable.

Ed002's You are right we can't be looking at every player, but a player who scores goals for fun in a good league should be looked at. He will light the prem up more than demba ba.

Marc

N'zogbia and Cisse are totally different players. You should really check out some facts before going off on one.

20032004 Douanes Dakar 26 (23)
20042009 Metz 95 (35)
20052006 → Cherbourg (Loan) 26 (11)
2008 → Châteauroux (Loan) 15 (4)
2009 SC Freiburg 65 (37)
National team
2010 Senegal 12 (7)

Thanks

Marc

I think what he was saying marc is last year there was people clamouring for charles insomnia because he was available and just because cisse is available it doesnt make him the right player for us he was using nzogbia as an example but the same could be said of scott dann people were wanting him look how he,s doing this year personally i would rather have sow or podolski and with newcastle going for cisse dont you think its strange that his senegal teammates also play for newcastle tiote an ba that they might have been instrumental in him arriving at saint james park and he may snub any move we would make for him any way

Also, it may very well be the case that Pap is moving there to REPLACE Ba, as opposed to play alongside him.

I can't see Podolski moving to us as for Sow i've not seen enought of him to make a comment. I would like to see a higher calibre player to join us not the likes of Defoe.Maybe we will be in for a suprise before the end of the transfer window.

Thanks

Marc

if lfc are interested in eriksen, surely they shouldn't wait til summer? his price will rocket if he impresses after the euros considering how hard group b is.

Players tend to cost more in January and a bid at the end of the season may be a better idea. As many people have stated though most players are unlikely to move so close to an international tournament and as even more people have said, there is very little chance of us getting Eriksen until we get into Europe. Same goes for Goetze, Hazard and most of these other wonderkid types.

Eriksen has already turned down man city and chelsea so would he go to liverpool? the lads a spurs fan and app its his dream to play for them? so again do liverpool stand a chance of signing him??

My source is a journalist well known in the north west.His editor has blocked him running the story for "legal reasons".It has been said that Kenny Dalglish will be "given a less active role" at LFC as of the end of the season.owners are not best pleased with dalglish's poor signings.It was argued comolli has "encouraged" signings to which the reply was Dalglish has always had final say and is held accountable.I cannot name journo or Newspaper sorry

Bring rafa home !!

I don't believe any editor would block this story, do you understand how newspapers work?

Total BS mate..why bother? ..JG..

His editor blocked it for legal reasons but he's quite happy to chat to you about it? I smell bull produce here.

Besides what's wrong with Dalglish's signings? I do wish people would behave.

"Legal reasons"! What legal reasons could stop a newspaper speculating about the future of a manager or player? Methinks you're having a drug induced dream.Handy that you can name neither the reporter nor the newspaper though.Is that for legal reasons too?

I have to say Kenny has looked very downbeat in his press conferences recently. This phantom newspaper story may be just that, but no question recent EPL results and the Suarez incident is taking its toll. The recent Ayre interview where he stated that club has been damaged by incident does not bode well for those involved.

I won the lottery but my boss told me i was not allowed to collect it..

Was it the paper that nobody buys?

Kenny's going nowhere, back the team or f...off! Go and support someone else you f.....g idiot!

I never get "I can't say where I got this information" posts; I mean noone is gonna believe you anyway and how is your 'source' going to find out an anon poster who nobody believes is actually you leaking their information.

C u next Tuesday!

Well if they not giving Kenny power to buy players then Kenny will walk out, he wouldnt stand for that, he is the manager of the team. Problem happen at Chelsea when they bought Torres, bought to please the fans but really doesnt fit in with the team, whilst Carlo wanted Pato or someone who fit in his formation but instead was stuck with Torres. just saying.

It must be THE S*N.

Go away you Manc.

I totally believe you. The editor clearly blocked the story because it was complete horse Man Utd. Seem's you and your journo mate are 2 of a kind. How are things in laa laa land anyway?

is d.bent coming to anfield

No no no no no, red or dead.

Let's hope not.

You must be mad look at the teams he's played for. Always scores goals. What are you lacking goals. Carroll biggest joke all hair no skill, Bents not the best player by a mile but would give you at least 20 goals a season with chances you make.Would turn those draws into wins .

Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha
SAMARAS IS RUBBISH...HE'S NOT EVEN GOOD ENOUGH FOR THE SUNDAY LEAGUE.

Nonsense

I'm red from glasgow too and i think you are tripping if you think samaras is liverpool quality,,.,,get a grip, he is murder..

NO WAY!! Samaras is useless and not LFC Quality id rather see Heskey back.

die-hard red

The lad is crap i hope this is untrue

We have many young players who are better than Samaras, and they haven't fully developed yet!

Would you stop , laughed my bollix off when I read that .

Could b the worst lie yet, this is the Freddie Mercury looking Greek guy that barely looks adequate is the mickey mouse Scottish prem, the same guy who failed miserably at manshi**y before they sold there souls to satan, get a grip!!

We have enuf program sellers mate

Ste Liverpool

Samaras is about as useful as a chocolate teapot or a bottomless bucket!! Get the message

Tits on a bull

You havin a laugh a real laugh

SAMARAS! Jesus I think I just cracked a rib laughing at that one.He wouldn't get a place in Everton reserves!

Is anfield short of kebab stands?

Is anfield short of kebab stands?

Hey Ed, Are Liverpool intresed inn Scott Sinclair? {Ed005's Note - Yes.}

Wiise up he cant even make it in the pub league that is called the scottish premier

Old Purple Nose is from Glasgow as well - are you two related by any chance?

Never ! He plays in a 3rd rate league

17 Jan 2012 18:37:43
what are the chances of swapping joe cole for moosa sow ??? would be a great paring with saurez when he returns
{Ed002's Note - It is possible that something may be done. Cole will need to take a drop in wages but may be willing to trade that against his pay off from Liverpool.}

17 Jan 2012 18:33:27
Just heard Eden hazard is expecting his move to chelsea to be done this week fee believed to be 28 million euros surely we could make an effort to compete for him at that price,

I wonder if Joe Cole could have persuaded him to move to Chelsea rather than Liverpool..

Get real mate he wouldn't come to us.WAKE up were not in the cpl

Ste Liverpool

That's gonna come as a big surprise to the Lille president who today said Hazard would not be told until the summer.

I am real mate you have a very low opinion if lfc by the sound of your attitude better players signing for a club will eventually improve any team enough to compete on all fronts including Europe I think most are fairly intelligent people and see this, players like to sign for clubs the persist in their interest of them, so cheer up mate,

Your off your head mate do you think he would join barcelona if they were 6th with no chance of a title, a slight chance at champions league next year and hadn't won a trophy since '06? no. some people need to take there red tinted glasses off...

No european football so not gonna happen

17 Jan 2012 18:21:31
Hi people. Just got this info from a reporter. Jermaine Defoe will not move as liverpool is not willing to splash for him. However, it is expected that a massive bid will be placed for llorente. Not very reliable but hey its an ongoing rumour.

17 Jan 2012 18:16:16
I really hope Liverpool pay nowhere near 20 million for Defoe. In fact I would rather they not bid for him at all.

Yeah, cos' he's a goalscorer, a natural finisher. either foot. what can this current side do with someone like that after all?!?!?!

Goal scorer he is but not worth 20m, 8 at tops he ain't played all season

I really think that the rumours in the press about 20m for Defoe or @05m for Bent are the papers way of having a jibe at LFC. On paper, Downing and Adam were astute buys but that sort of money for 30yr olds doesn't make sense.

17 Jan 2012 18:10:30
Let's change our poor transfer policy.Last summer transfers (in euros):Bojan Krkic(21)-Rome-13m
Miralem Pjanic(21)-Rome-11m
Erik Lamela(19)-Rome-15m
Andre Schurrle(21)-Leverkusen-8m
Georginio Wijnaldum(21)-PSV-5m
Kevin Strootman(21)-PSV-4m
Leroy Fer(21)-Twente-5m
Davide Santon(20)-Newcastle-5m
All players are u21 with many caps at international levels.If these were english how much would be their pricetag?Let's look at young foreigners(sp?) talents.Anyone agree?YNWA!
Marius

Good shout!

Santon is useless tho

Bojan Krkic(21)-Rome-13m s**t
tbh, they are all over hyped. The only player i would take is Andre Schurrle!

Good idea but if we don't get all of them but that quiet tirkey know have olny got some days left

I agree mot of those players will become future greats. wat i dont get is y the transfer prices 4 young english players r so damn high. they're not even close to as good as some other foreign players

Ya why buy english players when english football is s**t, like look at spain and the likes there reserves outclass the english starting team, it makes no sense

Get off fifa mate unproven 19 year olds are not going to win us champions league football and also who the hell are rome? great team that rome. i know of two good teams lazio and roma but never heard of rome...

Also the geez above chatting bout english players compared to spanish, spanish football was in tatters 7/8 years ago but due to their teams playing mostly spanish players it got to where it is now.

The major influx of foreign players in the epl has ruined our national team.

I believe an england team from the championship would beat our national team (minus Stevie of course :)) i bet if man city went out and bought the entire england squad all of a sudden you would see the national team improve massively..

gman

But there is quite obviously a reason they aren't buying english footballers, there not just doing it for the fun, remember who's winning son and spanish football is one of the many examples

Bojan cant come to liverpool.it is in his contract that if he plays good barca buy him back for the same price the sold him. {Ed002's Note - He can be released from his contract by Roma - there is a clause which allow him to be bought. Roma could then sell him on at a profit, but it would cost between 45-50M euros for Liverpool to buy him. So it is not going to happen just yet.}

17 Jan 2012 18:09:36
Ed did we or any other clubs look at henrique,i know he will have work permit issues

Ste Liverpool {Ed002's Note - I am not aware of interest aside from QPR and Hoffenheim.}

17 Jan 2012 18:00:19
Hi Ed, Whats your thoughts....

Leave Defoe At Spurs And Sign Loic Remy Instead

Liverpool have been linked Jermain Defoe, they'd be much better off signing Spurs target Loic Remy, the Marseille striker now first choice for France {Ed002's Note - There have been no approaches to Marseille regarding Loic Remy from Liverpool but a third party (an agent) suggested to Marseille that there is interest from Spurs and some sort of exchange for Pavlyuchenko was proposed which was immediately dismissed. Spurs however are looking at Remy with a chance of a cash bid being made. Remy would perhaps be interested in a move to a leading side in the summer but Marseille may price him out of the January market as they have no interest in selling at this time unless a very good offer is made. There has been a suggestion that Arsenal could also be interested in Remy.}

17 Jan 2012 17:55:16
3 out:1)joe cole
2)dirk kuyt
3)alberto

3 in:1)soldado
2)ganero
3)sow

And fernando suso .....hey ed why aren't liverpool giving first team chance to this lad ...saw his video's on youtube .he simply amazing!

Could be our own little david silva in a few years

Lazy Lad

You need to watch the ressies regular mate, and you will see suso needs to be more consistent on a regular basis. he is not ready for the first team.

I wouldt get rid of kuyt he isnt getin played i love kuyt

Great fan u are

Ste

Thanks for your championship manager updates, do keep us informed in the future

17 Jan 2012 17:15:45
My mate whose from Blackburn who knows the first team coach there has said apparently Hoilett has signed a precontract with liverpool for the summer.

This most likely is bulls**t but has anyone heard anything else about it? {Ed002's Note - It is BS, Hoilett cannot sign a pre-contract now with Liverpool.}

17 Jan 2012 17:50:16
what do people think of adebayor and adam johnson in the summer both proven in the prem and with city johnson hardly plays and adebayor is a reserve so it would cost around £35 for the both of them !
TRUE RED YNWA {Ed002's Note - Adebayor is not a reserve - he is on loan at Spurs for the season.}

Adebayor will more than likely sign for spurs and Johnson is not going to leave city in my opinion.

Lazy Lad

There remains interest in Andy Johnson but Mancini is not willing to sell without a replacement, if a new winger is brought by Man City then expect Kenny to make a bid.

Personally I expect this to be a deadline day deal.

Football Insider
{Ed002's Note - I think you mean Adam Johnson rather than Andy Johnson - although Andy is available.}

You might be a true red, but you have not got a f***ing clue whats going on, judging by this post

Adebayor is on 225,000 p/w. We will not match his wages and I doubt he will take that large of a pay cut.

35 for both of them? Now that's a bargain alright! In fact at that price I'll buy both of them for the Reds!

We wont match adebayors wages, also his lack of goals will see harry search for a more leathel striker than adebayor this jan or more than likely the summer

Ok didnt know about his wages and adam johnson will sign in the summer or deadline day
TRUE RED YNWA

17 Jan 2012 17:47:22
Hi eds. Do we have any interest in higuain? He has double the amount of goals llorente has this season and he would be in the same price bracket.

Jayo {Ed002's Note - No. Higuain will not be moving to Liverpool in January.}

One reason for that is lorente has been out injured for bout 7 weeks or so came back on saturday i think it was an scored plus would be a more realistic target but still cost 20 mill an up

belfast red adam

17 Jan 2012 17:24:20
First time poster as actually have an interesting rumour from a good source - Mitchell Thomas is agent of Defoe. Source relative of Thomas who when asked about Defoe, gave thumbs up when asking about Defoe to Liverpool. I'm still to be convinced as thought Pavyluchenko (spelling?) would leave first....

Mitchell Thomas isn't defoes agent,Struan Marshall is

Ronaldo and messi were about to sign but the deal stalled due to their prospective agent's not having thumbs in turn un-able to be able to give the widely accepted contractual agreement of a thumbs up..

17 Jan 2012 17:09:15
Alright let me just try sort out the crap, and i know some of you are gonna say no or it wont happen but if you check you will see im not just guessing!
Targets for Liverpool who i expect could move(if not in January then possible in the future)

Soldado - due to high interest
De jong - due to high interest
Doumbia - watched by many including us, champions league can affect possible move
Defoe - rumours, was offered to rafa but he said no which resulted in him moving to portsmouth
J. McCarthy - Interest in previous window, great run of form this season
Moussa Sissoko - watched alot and commolli is a big admirer " Sissoko could be a long term replacement for gerrard "
Adam Johnson - High rumours
Montolivo - Interest from Liverpool and he is refusing to sign a new contract

these players are more iffy when it comes to moving due to interest from other big name clubs or no real follow up from Liverpool but are still targets

Niang
Kagawa
Granero
Strootmen

Oh and then of course messi............
LFC Paddy

I dont know why Commoli thinks that sissoko is a replacement for Gerrard he plays nothing like him

Of course Sissoko plays nothing like Gerrard - who does?!

17 Jan 2012 16:57:07
Three in three out...
in: 1) Luuk de Jong
2) granero
3) mousso sow

out:)
1) dirk
2) amoo
3) Carroll in the summer if continues doing nothing

Ed what is lfc position on granero?
{Ed005's Note - Interest.}

What do u think of millto for inter he shud only be 4m and get him on the bench for Carol

Where do you get your 4mill price tag from honestly? contract length/worth, game time, track record, age? explain....

17 Jan 2012 16:46:41
Hey eds great site
Just a thought since liverpool have been quiet I reckon. Liverpool are plotting an unexpected signing for liverpool similar to carroll as we did not expect him we going to have a player with an "it" factor so let's all trust in kenny and comolli they might pull off something special

What u reckon eds 001,002 or other eds that are available ?
DeezoLFC

Its about time this comoli geezer earned is coin

Really hope it wont be similiar to Carroll

Liverpool shud try n gt pienaar mite cause a stir buts he's as good as Adam n henderson cud gt for four million

Hope your correct would love to see someone like benzema wow we can only dream ha ha

17 Jan 2012 15:51:35

1) Liverpool are showing interest in FC Groningen striker David Texeira, the Uruguay forward, 20, who has taken a similar path to compatriot Luis Suarez

2) Swansea are bracing themselves for a double raid from Liverpool with Kenny Dalglish keen on Scott Sinclair and Joe Allen.

3) Tottenham supremo Daniel Levy will ask Liverpool to pay a staggering £20million for Jermain Defoe.

4) The ongoing transfer situation with wantaway Blackburn defender Chris Samba has made it more likely that Junior Hoilett will stay at Ewood Park.

I really hope this rumour about scott dann is false as well?

Please stop copying and pasting newspaper stories it's very irritating.

Tell us something we don't already know ..

"Tell us something we don't already know ..." Okay, your mum is the milkman.

17 Jan 2012 15:47:20
During the summer Liverpool were highly touted to be in for james mccarthy from wigan, I've been highly impressed of him from what I've seen versus us and chelsea for example, seemed dictate play in a dm role... by far better option than adam or spearing I feel. With stevie and lucas returning from injury both could have influence on a future partnership of hendo and mccarthy... Mccarthy would be a good signing if not now the summer perhaps at cheaper price if wigan relagated but for now:

Chasing up adam johnson is a must in january, dont seem to happy esp last night coming on for a 2 minute cameo...with 5 goals and 3 assists from 6 PL starts... at a guess this is by far superior than kuyt, downing, hendo, carrol.. combined!

Sincalir and dyer i dont feel are the answer, sinclair takes penalities really and 80% his goals this year from spot, with stevie back thankfully we've that issue resolved

soldado i seen posted earlier could be available for 25mill vs defoe @ 20 mill... no brainer really, we need a top class goalscorer and soldado class players need be targeted.

taxeria rumour seems be gathering pace, well sign him up, need reinforcements

another player rumoured before was diego perotti from sevilla, his young fast, a winger, resale value, etc... anymore interest in him??

Kuyt and a few more have to go, given great service but with galatasory interested it's time to go i feel

with striking options of suarez, soldado, bellamy and... big andy... supply from stevie, possibly adam johnson and perotti top 4 is attainable... plus these signings are achieveable in jan and not unrealistic?

I really hope Adam Johnson is signed as I believe he would add much needed flair, goals and crosses to our team. even if he and the striker from holland are signed I think it would be enough to push us on. LangLFC

Hazard will not go to any one in this transfer window Liverpool should up 40m or 50m for hazard

I don't think they are unrealistic, but they won't all happen. I would be happy if we get even one new player, provided they bring some attacking skills. Soldado, Perotta, Johnson will not come for various reasons (money, they all play for successful teams, money).

We should put Carol on the bench or loan him out and get a striker in if we get a boss striker we could aim for 4

McCarthy could have come to Anfield a couple of years ago. He refused to sign unless he was guarenteed first team football. Don't need an ego like that. RED LENIN

Johnson can't pass or cross, why do you think mancini doesn't play him every week? He's no mug mancini. I wouldnt have a single player you mentioned. a poacher is needed that is all

McCarthy didn't refuse to come to Liverpool because he wanted to be guaranteed first team football, he was offered a choice between Liverpool and Wigan and he chose wigan because he knew he would have a better chance of first team football, I have seen the lad interviewed on a couple of occasions, especially around the time with the international thing between Ireland and Scotland and he came across as a fairly level headed young lad, he is a very good player and Kenny is a fan, possibly 1 for the future, RED LINNED maybe you should try get a job at 1 of the red top rag papers, with sensationalising like that you would fit right in.

Gman82

Adam Johnson is a waste of space as soon as things dont go his way he disapears out of games

McCarthy is an interesting one. I think he's a good player, but doesn't really add much to our midfield that we don't already have. Also, he's known to have attitude issues, not to mention the ridiculous fee Wigan were asking last window.

17 Jan 2012 15:38:40
Shame to see Papiss Cisse in talks with Newcastle, the fee agreed at only £7.5m! With getting 22 goals last season and 9 so far this in the Bundesliga it looks like the toon will have another bargain striker to partner Ba... But I have heard that Fernando Llorente's agent is offering the towering forward to clubs, if Liverpool are smart we should go for him, provide Carroll with motivation for his place and have a proven world class striker infront of Suarez when he returns!
77chris

I don't feel Llorente would be a good signing. He looks a very similar player to Carroll, and given time Carroll could be just as good. I Would prefer a smaller more agile striker who can play with ball at his feet.

KingHeskey

Signing Andy Carroll is a BIG MISTAKE by Liverpool Football Club.

Newcastle know what they are doing in the transfer window, selling high and buying cheap. If they get Cisse, I am getting worried about our ability to even finish 6th.

I have heard that liverpool get bent for Carol swoop but Carol will not go

I noticed only one of you have signed there posts, never take anybody seriouly who doesn't sign there posts. Suppose the Carroll basher was one of those slagging Lucas off all them years.

Sooty

I don't think Llorente is the answer either as he thrives on good service just like Carroll does and that isn't happening at d mo. Yes Carroll has missed chances but at times I think he doesn't know what d other players are going to do. Johnson nearly always cuts in instead of crossing the ball 1st time and Enrique seems to have lost belief that he can whip a ball and even our most "natural" winger Downing is cutting in as he doesn't have the pace to skin a full back. Id love to see what Carroll would do if he had Beckham esque crosses raining in..

17 Jan 2012 15:26:42
Kiss goodbye to 4th when chelsea get hazard, 2 players we should have broke the bank for, mata and hazard

I disagree. Mata flourished and has now become very quiet on the pitch. The opposite can be said of our signings - quiet and building in confidence.

There's two problems with what you're saying.
1 - We need to secure Champions League football to attract players like Mata and Hazard. Would you go to Liverpool if you were them? I wouldn't!.
2 - We can't afford to break the bank after all the money we spent in the summer, and with no Champions League revenue coming in next year based on our current form.

Looks like we dodged a bullet with Mata. As much impact as a party popper. As for Hazard? Place him in Messi / Ronaldo / Cavani bracket and forget all about him please.

Well the Lille president has just said Hazard's going nowhere until the summer, so it looks like you got all hysterical for nothing mate.

Are you guys serious. Mata is pure class in everything he does. Dodged a bullet my arse. Get a grip.
kopfiend 1978 ynwa

Lmao, ur kidding right??. If Mata was here, i dont think LFC would need Adam and Downing as he is basically better than both of them in both their apartments and his shoe can take care of both them with ease!!. If we have him i can guarantee that Carroll would get good service. Why he cant fit into the Chelsea team is pretty obvious, its similar to Fernando Torres's situation!!. ALL SPANISH PLAYERS CAN FIT INTO LIVERPOOL FC OR ARSENAL FC ONLY. He has scored some few goals for Chelsea but overall he hasnt done so much special because he doesnt have the right team mates to enable him this. At LFC he would have bcoz Gerrard has an instant connection with Spanish players coupled with creativity from Luis Suarez. My Word, if Torres didnt go and Mata had come, we would be sitting in 3rd or 2nd with ease right now and plotting on how to humiliate Man Utd UTd!!, hence dodged a bullet??, more like missed a gem!!..

So disappointed tht liverpool cnt sign a world class player in between of 25m. But sign 35m flood with not a world class player.

We didn't need to break the bank for Mata according to Sid Lowe of the Guardian we had a deal in place to sign him, but he was the back up option if we didn't sign Downing, so this falls squarely on the management and scouting department. And quite how you could pick Downing over Mata is anyones guess.

What planet are half you fans on. Mata has been one of the most consistent player in the league this year. But when people rightly criticise Downing people say oh he'll come good when they have no idea, or just back the team. Well we're criticising because we support the team.

Are you joking? how did we dodge a bullet by not signing mata. some fans need to get over the fact that everyone we buy is world class and everyone we miss out on is 'dodging a bullet'. we payed 35m for carroll, he's done nothing no matter what any of you say, now we cant afford to sign big players such as hazard, cavani, doumbia and various others.

Really agree wid u we all ways seem to sign middle class players for 10 mil 20 mil in sted of goin to give 30 mil for 1 good player it pissis me off when they say he won't come y not we are Liverpool football club say no more

How much was mata 20someting mil and downing 20MILLION crazy

According to Duncan Oldham we are gunna sign a player in the next week with the wow factor.

Duncan Oldham ? What would he know?

Carlos Tevez to Anfield? LOl - shouldve happened at the same time as Monster Masch.

I like Duncan but it really isn't news that we are going to sign someone in the last week of the transfer market.. lol.

Thanks, KickingBro

Yeah because he's reliable his info is about as good as his cameo role in Benidorm.

Must be true if Dunc says so!

More chance of him going on a diet than being right

Dunk is hit and miss i cant see this on his site or twitter so..... ? i only follow him because he cracks me up

Never heard of him

Despite what others say I`ve never had an issue with him, he`s very controversial and that upsets some I guess. He is about as reliable as anybody else who says there in the know, sometimes gets it right sometimes not.
Matt b

Wouldn't mention that con man to anybody if I were you. Common knowledge in Liverpool to ignore him

Unless Dunc has got that player hidden in his
belly i would not hold ya breath

Dunc is just repeating on what Bruce on TalkSport the over day!

Is it some news on Scott Sinclair?

"wow" as in - "wow......did they really pay 20mil for Defoe?"

Podolski at Liverpool??Please Eds, say that ain't gonna happen!! That is not just a rumour, that is a rumour from my worst nightmare. I know Carroll isn't doing his job but I'd better stick to him than splash cash on Podolski. We need a striker but he is neither good in the air, nor is he a great dribbler. He's more like, in case of size and skills, Suarez than Carroll. Why would Liverpool want to bring in a striker similar to Luis, with Craig in the team as well? That just doesn't make any sense to me. Wake me up from this nightmare Eds, please!
{Ed002's Note - I have explained what I know of Podolski. Try the search function.}

Would love padolski at lfc ,i think we can give him first team football him and suarez would be a great partnership

Mate u obviously know nothing about goal scorers, size and pace are nothing if u cant put the ball in the net. Podolski can and does it on a regular basis has a great mentality for a good goal scorer just ask england defenders.

"We need a striker but he is neither good in the air, nor is he a great dribbler." Is this how we equate a good striker? Personally I would rather have someone who sticks the ball in the net ona regular basis. You say that Podolski can't dribble but then compare him to Suarez - how does that work? If Podolski is such a nightmare as a player it would make you wonder how he has so many international caps and goals to his name.

ed do you really think Texeira will join us even thou he moved clubs 6months ago ? {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

Any1 no if hes a good enough player ?

There is interest in Texeira but he is considered a back up option if original targets are not available

Is it rue we put in a bid of around £5m for Swansea Scott Sinclair eds .. {Ed002's Note - I really don't know.}

If you Scott Sinclair would you move to Liverpool right now when you are not guaranteed a starting place and are time at Swansea who play good football. Furthermore if you were the Chairman or Manager of Swansea would you sell Scott Sinclair in January? and for 5 million?

bommy

Yes it is True, well to be more exact closer to 6m with Add-ons

Football Insider
@whoarewesigning

Scott Sinclair will not be moving in January. He is in the process of bringing his Mrs here. Swansea will value Sinclair at 10million+

papisse cisse to newcastle ! shame they are getting much better than us in striking department .

we do need a quality finisher ! MR.KENNY DALGLISH !!

thanks !

Well said .. will daglish ever wake up ? not sure ..

To be honest if we get Moussa Sow he's actually a better finisher than Pappis Demba Cisse so lets just hope we get him rather than someone like Wilfred Zaha or Nikica Jelavic!

I am SURE Mr. Dalglish has no better job than reading this site...

Im sorry to burst everyones bubble but very little is going to happen for liverpool this window, I hope I am wrong but it seems kenny is happy with the squad.

die-hard red

I think you may be right.
I know it often takes time to finalise a deal, but I don't expect any "big money" signings in January.
Good players generally aren't available, and the ones who are, are over-priced.
I do think we'll sign one or maybe two players, but it won't be Cavani, Hazard, Llorente or Hulk..
Sorry!
Joe

Ya its seems very unlikely without the lure of champs lge and it is looking like its gonna be a struggle for fourth. maybe kenny will suprise us but im not gettin my hopes up.

die-hard red

Yeah i think your right, his happy with the squd decision could also be his downfall,dont get me wrong we play better football under kenny, but our league position is not improving.

lfcscott

A blind monkey can see the we need a striker a right winger to compete.. I hold KK in much higher regard than a blind monkey..
Nuff said

Myk

It's not a question of who we need, it's who's available, keen, and for what price.
If Kenny and Comolli can pull off a genius transfer like Suarez again I'll be over the moon.
But we shouldn't get our hopes up. I think we'll do the majority of our business in the summer.
Joe

Yes exactly, its easy to tell what we need but its a different story getting that to happen.

die-hard red

Hope your wrong people and perhaps you are. Look at last January? Players are saying they want moves Sow for eg. It must be a chance we can get someone who can put the ball in the net! Carroll may still be great but really we need a scorer right now to go with Luis when he returns and then lookout 4th!

17 Jan 2012 14:46:21
This isn't a rumour more of a question, but am
I the only person who would welcome back Torres with open arms now that it looks like Steve is gettin back to his best?? We need a quality striker an no matter what's happened over the last 12 months fernando is world class an this club suits him. What u think the chances are of him comin home? Stranger things have happened, I mean Andy Carroll £35million need I say more haha

Not that its going to haapen ,but if torres apologised for leaving and admitted he was in the wrong and out of order for leaving wen he did ,and admited he made a huge mistake ,then maybe id like him back ,MAYBE

Do some research into what went on when the freckly little girl left and you will see why he will never play for Liverpool again, or indeed be welcome there. Can we please put an end to this nonsense once and for all? It's like sobbing on the front lawn or your ex's new lover's house saying it can all be put back together. You just wouldn't do it. Dignity please.

Id lv to see him back again mate..never guner hapin tho

He'd be my first choice any day. imagine a torres-suarez combo. doesnt get any better.

I dont think you are the only one which is the sad shame! Open arms my a**e... He left us on the very end of the transfer window to go to one of our fiercest rivals where the wages were better and there were more shops for his wife to spend them in. We bought Suarez in to play alongside him and he went and did that instead of waiting until the summer to see how things went... ALL of you Torres lovers would now be giving him the two fingers if Carroll had banged in 20 goals since his arrival but now he hasn't you'd welcome the man back who crapped on us only a year ago. I for one take great pleasure in every game that goes by which Fernando Torres doesn't score in

I would for one back him coming back to Anfield...When he left last year i was absolutely gutted, but there is room for forgiveness and i think he should apologise to the fans first and foremost for going and making the mistake that he did. I think realistically if had remained we would be in a much better position this year with Suarez and Torres upfront... I mean at least 14 points better...which wud have us top of the league giving that some of those points were dropped to our rivals above us!!

With Drogba possibly on the way out, Anelka already gone and Lukaku so young and Sturridge currently playing 1 of the three man attack do you think they will sell their record signing striker who they only bought this time last year?

bommy

Zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz !

Do man utd speak like this about ronaldo or arsenal of fabregas.

Get over it and move on, its really boring now.

Brilliant insight there mate well done!! Sure you aren't a manc fan taking the p**s cos your acting like one.... I can just see it now "sorry everybody please let me come back to Liverpool, I promise not to do it again".... wake up and have a bit of pride. If players dont want to play for us its there loss not ours

Ronaldo and Fabregas went to bigger clubs, and are doing well. Torres would be most welcome in my book. However there is no way Chelsea would let him come to us as it would give us a chance of fourth. With current personnel, we have very little chance. Suarez is not a finisher and Andy is certainly not. Both are foil for a more out and out striker. TOrres, Soldado, Bent would do. Perhaps those that know more about football than me(ie Liverpool football club) are hopefully looking for such a striker.

Bent would not do, how he and Defoe are bieng mentioned as possible targets beggars belief. As for Torres, he made a mistake (don't we all) and is now fully aware of what he gave up. Stevie G almost did the same thing post-CL 2005 and we forgave him. If Torres returned I would be made up, Fer-nan-do Tor-res, Liverpools number 9 ... not Chelsea's!

I dont understand your point ? torres went to a bigger club didnt he ? We are currently not a bigger club than chelsea so your points about ronaldo and fabregas make no sense.

I was meaning that the player has gone, move on and look ahead not behind ! {Ed005's Note - Perhaps not as good on the field as Chelsea, but most certainly a bigger club.}

Am not a Manx takin the piss just a liverpool fan who doesnt view the world through red tinted glasses, theirs 9 teams who've scored slightly less than us an the majority of them are in the arse end of the table, sick of reading bollox about Sinclair, graham and Allen, an all these other players no ones heard of playin in Dutch an German league, we should learn from our mistakes in the Dutch league it's brought us fck all, Suarez is class but he's not a natural goal scorer, defoe isn't the answer either

Hey eds.
What's the situation regarding Muniain? Highly talented youngster, wouldn't be surprised to see Barca or PSG make a move. {Ed002's Note - Muniain has been touted around the clubs on behalf of Bilbao - and two clubs in England have certainly been approached all ready. The asking price is 40M euros. They won't get it. I don't think clubs would risk half of that on a player who is young and has shown himself to be pretty immature. Roma interest is still there but perhaps an eventual move to Barcelona beckons.}

Which two clubs ed and what you mean by immature. Has he a bad attitude or something.

Arjen Robben is attracting Liverpool, he could move for as little as 27.5 Million and is willing to return to the Premier League with Dalglish a known admirer of the left footed ace.

I think 27.5 million is his medical insurance fee. he would probably cost 10 million.

Kaizer

I wish. hes to old not a good investment now days. one of my best players tho

While Robben is a skillful player he's 28 and 27.5 mill plus his wages would wipe out our transfer budget and then some! It won't happen simple as that.We aren't Man City or Chelsea and we haven't got that kind of money to spare.

Not going to happen

As little as 27.5million - what a bargain!!

How old? must be 30+ now. You must be joking.

Wow - as little as 27.5 million. Can we get two of him in the January sales?

Adam johnson or shaqiri and Luuk de jong is just what we need. nothing else... Robben is too injured all the time, i would buy shaqiri instead. Bayern munich have said that shaqiri will be his replacement if robben goes. look just a like, he is half that price and he will be just like robben.

Oh yer i heard Pato loves liverpool too and is willing to move for a little 2m. I have also heard no lesser than michael owen will leave united and finish his career at the mighty reds. Furthermore Puyols armband became loose in a game and revealed you'll never walk alone, you remember what happened last time this happened. Also its been kept on the low down but me and stevie g are best mates and after his new deal he is set to become 1st team coach. Shall i go on....no, stop wasting the ed's time you clown. Love you ed's xxx

As little as 27.5 million!! Well why don't we just pay the 20 mill spurs want and 40 mill bilbao want for munian.... Ah as little as 27.5 - get a grip Branson - that is mega dollar

We paid 35 million for Carroll, and 20 for Downing now Arjen Robben is better than both, not coming though no chance

Kenny is pushing Comolli to launch a mega double bid on Athletic Bilbao, as he wants both Fernando Llorente and Iker Muniain. Muniain is seen as the man who will being creativity to our play, and Llorente the man who Kenny originally thought Carroll would be. Together, both would cost 45m.

Carroll will be allowed to leave at the right price. Villa and Tottenham are interested in his services, but it looks as if Tottenham will launch a bid of 20m to get him to London. Newcastle are interested, but have to wait until the summer, unless it is a loan.

Maxi will stay until the end of the season, where he will return to Argentina.

KD and DC have implied to Kuyt that his agent can start touting him around to clubs on the continent. Inter Milan and Sevilla are interested in his services, but he wants to stay until the end of the season, even if it hurts his Euro chances.

David Texeira WILL sign in this window, as backup for Llorente and Suarez. Castaignos was on standby if this deal was not going to be accepted.

KD is more than happy with the options in midfield, with Gerrard and Spearing able to cover for Lucas for the rest of the season, leaving Henderson and Adam to set up the play from further up the field.

In the summer, Carragher will be offered a part time role as coach, whilst continuing his sporadic appearances in defence.

S**t and bull seem to come mind
James

Thanks for the story made me laugh,llorente,munain,suarez,texeira...going from short of strikers to excess of them,keep them coming much better than all the defoe rumours

Come on! Wake up!

Kenny could push a bus up Haverlock Street [ a VERY steep road in Liverpool ] never mind Comoli but we still couldn't buy those two at 45 mill! you're living in dreamland!

Buy a video camera and your on for an oscar with this story

Theres 2 other clowns agree! what the hell is going on on this site!

Why talk a load of kack?

The ed's have said it all along and they are right, Carroll is not leaving Liverpool anytime soon. Why would they buy a player and be so quick to fob him off because of a poor run of form. And fans think the boards are fickle sacking managers left right and centre. If fans had their way a new team would be lining up at the beginning of each month for team in the league!

bommy

Superb! You should write for The Mirror!

What are you smoking?

17 Jan 2012 14:19:03
We desperately need a world class striker, but looks like we ain't gettin one. Shame really...

We're roughly half way through the transfer window where traditionally everything happens in the last few days. Look what happened on the final day last year! I'm sure the club are in a position to move for any available players that they are interested in, lets just let them do their job and have some patience

I agree we need messi

Yes unfortunatley daglish cant see that we are toothless ! And he takes loosing to easy. After all these results, imagine Ferguson would go blistic and these draws wouldnt happen. but there you go ..

The problem is we wil only go and sign someone average like defoe

We've created almost 300 chances so far this season, but we can't finish. I'm sure Dalglish didn't anticipate a player getting banned for 8 games either!.

17 Jan 2012 14:13:32
Cavani is known to want to come to Liverpool because of the influence of his friends Suarez and Coates. If Liverpool put in an offer of 25 million then he is available and will be willing to come.

{Ed002's Note - You are living in a fantasy world. Do you have any idea of the asking price for Cavani?}

Asking price and the price u pay are always miles apart, they want around 35m for Cavani but if the player wants the move then the club will have to be reasonable regarding the asking price. So there is always a possibility ..

Considering we paid 35m for carrol, Cavani is a snip at 100m Euros!!

Ed what is the asking price 40-50m i know he aint coming but someones going to have pay it.DORSET RED {Ed002's Note - It will likely be Real Madrid and in the order of 50M euros.}

Look u make stupid rumors so shut your mouth up

Liverpool should stump up the cash...get the Champions league place and recoup some of the money that way.... We will not finish in the top 4 without buying a striker within the next 2 weeks.... Carroll has more than had his time/chance and doesn't look like he can be bothered....another Berbatov in my opinion

We should offer 75m for ronaldo

Editor, if that was the case when if RM and Barca offer us 20M for Suarez, we should tell them more like 80-90M as that is our asking price evaluation as fans!!. Lets get one thing straight. Lucas Moura was touted as 130M and he isnt half as good as say Mario Goetze or Christian Eriksen but is close so that would mean that Ajax and Dortmund have the right to ask for double, no triple the amount asked by Sao Paulo for Lucas right??. Cavani truthfully is probably worth 40-45M tops. Not that we cant get him, but if we have an interest in him and he isnt swayed by high wages then he is defo ours. {Ed002's Note - I am not really sure what you are talking about. If Suarez was for sale I would guess he would be perhaps be worth 30M or so. Cavani is not moving to Liverpool.}

It is true by the way luis has been talking to him an he sed he will cum as he has watched us play many times don't believe everything you see in papers an tele this true and we are also putting in a bid for Scott dann which is around 7 million for him this will be deadline day transfers {Ed002's Note - Suarez running the transfers for Liverpool now? There is not the interest nor the money for Cavani to move to Liverpool in January. I am not entirely sure what the club will do with Scott Dann either.}

There has been a words sayin he could move for as lil as 16 million

17 Jan 2012 14:13:05
Eds I've just read an article on NESN

www.nesn.com/2012/01/report-liverpool-is-interested-in-fernando-llorente-20-million-striker-plays-for-athletic-bilbao.html

that llorente could join liverpool for 20m do u think that this is possible I really hope so

LFC Forever {Ed002's Note - I expect Llorente will stay with Bilbao.}

20m i doubt it, more like 28m besides do we need him, Carroll is just short on confidence and match fitness if he can produce th form at Newcastle then we will have a good player on our hands.

BigD

Talk sport reported that Llorente has been offered to psg so he may leave Bilbao

And then we need a proven winger:)

Llorente why do you all think he will do it. actually i dont him as that special. he will be a big chance. I see Andy much better than him. he just need the confidence. he could have made at least 8 goals more this season, if you see how many balls got saved on the line, or by the post. give him a chance, he is a young dude. support the team.... will build confidence, thats a start.

17 Jan 2012 14:09:45
Liverpool are stepping up their bid in attempt to push for top four place with a bid for fetcher of wolves...

What do you think Ed? We do need a proven finisher

We bid for Fletcher to achieve a top 4 finish and Chelsea are bidding for Hazard. Lets forget about Champions League, maybe Europa is a more realistic target.

Fletcher would cost about 15m-20m.... he aint that good!

Yes! another average player moved to Liverpool! :)

Good player and decent goalscorer but Big Mick will no doubt price him out of a move.

BigD

Yes a proven finisher like fletcher who has had about 10 good games in the league and was abysmal in the previous 3 seasons. We wont be signing fletcher.
DCG

This must be Fletcher or his agent on here in the last month or so constantly talking him up, surely there is no other explanation for a player of this quality being linked with us... I wouldn't spend 15-20 pesos on him!

Richards

17 Jan 2012 14:03:29
Eds, how sure are you that Eden Hazard won't be coming to the club in the near future?? I have it on GOOD authority that we are negotiating with Lille about a deal of cash + Joe Cole (on a permanent deal) but both clubs are quite far apart in their valuations of both players.

Fingers crossed that they can come to an agreement but I assure you this information is 100% accurate!

Your thoughts?

Mart {Ed002's Note - It is simply not true Mart.}

It must be true because he typed good in caps like this (GOOD) so if he's bothered to do that to prove apoint, well it's GOOD enough for me.

Danny.

I hear Hazard is signing for Chelsea next week, 30m is the fee, personal terms still need to,be agreed

Hazard will never join LFC. Players like to win trophies frankly, we are far from at as yet.

Are you sure it's Cavani and not someone else?

Keith

No chance chelski are getting him its a shame really and they like joe cole but dont have no where for him they play him at left back so i cant see cole being happy there

We'll see ;-)

"Hazard will never join LFC. Players like to win trophies frankly, we are far from at as yet."

Like being 1 game away from a Cup final at Wembley against a lower division team?

17 Jan 2012 14:01:41
ThE torres rumour is true , he has been subject to a lot of speculation , but reports in Italy suggest he has been offered to psg so they can free up the money to activate hulks 85 million release clause , bit of Liverpool rumours , back lag of the coul del try stats Liverpool have made a 34million euros bid for Lorente and qpr expected to finalise hernazes from say palou plus chris samba has handed in a transfer request and hazard agent has claimed a fee is close to being agreed with an English team fingers crossed , plus Sinclair is shopping in Liverpool I have a picture which I will upload of me and him at anfield

So we're definitely signing Torres and Sinclair whilst we also have bids in for hazard and lorente... Yeah you must be spot on..

Upload it then

Seriously? Everyone has a double you know haha! Though if true then I would be quite pleased to see Sinclair here

Hazard is close to joining an english team- either arsenal or chelsea.

Sorry your poor grammar confused me.
Repeat that in English, when you wake up from your dream world of course.

And don't forget to put the bed sheets in the wash.

Could someone translate that for me.I have no idea what he said.

17 Jan 2012 13:47:47
Hi eds. You say neither cavani or hazard will be coming in january. Do we have any interest in these players and if so would we be looking at signing either in the summer?
{Ed002's Note - The summer is a long way off and much will depend on making the Champions League. However, with reasonable confidence neither player will join Liverpool in the summer.}

17 Jan 2012 13:42:48
Ed I haven't heard what Ancelotti has said, and Ive seen you said that Torres what not offered to PSG but from what Ive seen on here Ancelotti was quoting agents, is it possible these players are looking to leave the clubs, not the clubs are trying to get rid of them and that it's true? Or do you see it all as bull? A couple of players of that list would be worth considering but realistically we are a long way from buying players like that again for me.

Thanks {Ed002's Note - Bull was the obvious thought.}

Yeah.... ancelotti just decided to lie and stir up clubs in the premier league, right...

17 Jan 2012 13:36:07
hey eds are liverpool interested in signing david texeria?................RED INDIAN {Ed002's Note - We don't know. It all seems to have come from what Grobbelaar said.}

Its all over ssn now so has to have some sort of link to the truth

Rumours coming out of Turkey that Liverpool are looking at Burak Yilmaz of Trabzonspor who as scored 21 goals in the Turkish League this season

any1??

Turkish league does not contain any player that is good enough for Liverpool.

21 in 20 been linked with Wigan not Liverpool

17 Jan 2012 13:30:06
been told by a few people, defoe on his way to mellwood today.just pasin it on lads

Mellwood?? Jeez

Yeh jus saw him go into melwood... he said to me that Steven Gerrard is goin in the opposite direction to spurs .. not a bad move i think

And now just passing it out......

On a holiday ?

17 Jan 2012 13:26:47
Heard from a reliable source we will not be signing Defoe. He is 29 not worth the supposedly 20m Tottenham is asking and doesn't the plans of the owners. They want a young player with re sale value. Expect us to go for Texeira!

17 Jan 2012 13:07:59
Seen a couple of quotes flying round PSG manager Carlo Ancelotti saying Cavani is for sale in Jan he was offered him.Is there any truth and if true do u think we you be in a position to buy him.

On another note do you no of any interest in any so called world class players like Hazzard Cavini etc etc I think with Gerrard back to fitness and Suarez only 4 games away from a return a player or two of there calibre is all we need to march on up the table.....cheers {Ed002's Note - Neither Hazard nor Cavani will be moving to Liverpool in January.}

17 Jan 2012 13:00:55

The PSG boss said: 'There is a lot of choice for this January market. Do you want the names?
'OK, now I tell you the players the agents are offering on the market, officially or not: Carlos Tevez, Fernando Torres, Dimitar Berbatov, Roman Pavlyuchenko, Edinson Cavani, Fernando Llorente.'

Fair play to him at least he's honest more managers should do the same.

So what's your point? A) the ones we would want would cost too much. B) the ones we don't want we DONT want so why would we bid??

Bizarre statement.

Rob s

Cavani? Yeah right Inspector Dreyfuss, whatever you say. Has that wonky eyebrow started growing inwards or something?

17 Jan 2012 12:43:50
Hey eds, Scott Sinclair's name has been mentioned for a while now, not sure how serious our interest is mind, but could you see swansea actually letting him go mid season?

Many Thanks Amz {Ed002's Note - I don't see it unless it is a very high offer.}

17 Jan 2012 12:43:45
Carlos ancelotti has revealed that he was offered Torres at PSG!
So Chelsea do want rid.
How many guys would like to see him back in a red shirt? {Ed002's Note - Chelsea did not offer Torres to PSG.}

I think ancoletti would know more than you dont you think? {Ed002's Note - So the nameless fetid trash returns and immediately starts on the editors. I can certainly guarantee that Chelsea have not offered Torres to PSG - and perhaps if you could find somone to read Ancelotti's quote to you perhaps you would understand what is said.}

I think if toTorres had gone to PSG or other wealthy continental club such as Milan, inter, Bayern or Malaga last January, many (but not all) of the issues Liverpool fans had with him would not have happend.

I think Ancelotti is just stirring a bit.He mention just about ever striker out there.

kiwired

It's the agent that is offering Torres around I think Ancelotti is saying. Correct me if I'm wrong?

And I wouldn't like to see Torres back at Liverpool...

That may be true ed Chelsea may not have done but that never stops the agents whispering in the ears of any clubs who will listen..... Torres's body language hardly suggests he's a happy bunny! and playing like he is doing won't get him to the euros {Ed002's Note - Agents can pretty much do as they want - the point was that Chelsea do not want rid of him and have not offered him to PSG.}

As a Chelsea fan ed002 would you like to see the back of Torres........ 25-30mil would get a suitable and more reliable replacement. Is another year like this worth the risk {Ed002's Note - I think there is a good chance he will leave in the summer.}

Torres is not good enough for Liverpool right now. He just is not scoring.

Was this not in the context of taking the mick a bit? As if to say who do you want e to say? I'll say them all... {Ed001's Note - he was very much tongue in cheek.}

Why are you talking about a player who now has absolutely nothing to do with liverpool ?

17 Jan 2012 12:40:09
hi eds,iv noticed the speculation of darren bent has died down.have u herd anythin new on this?
thanks {Ed002's Note - I have not heard anything at all on it.}

All be it from a friend of a friend at Villa but heard that Liverpool asked about Bent and were told ok swap for Carroll... we then refused and that was that.

17 Jan 2012 12:30:38
Allen, Dyer and sinclair are all essential to Swanseas survival this year..... The financial gain from a quick January sell just wouldnt make sense as they arn't desparate for the cash and the charmain doesnt seeem to be in the Mike Ashely mould. Maybe in the summer when they've safely avoided relegation and can concentrate on seriously finding some quality replacements. Would love to see any of these arrive at Anfield this window, just cant see it

Safely avoid relegation, at this rate, they will be finishing above us : )

Havnt we wasted enough money on british players over recent years.Theres a lesson to be learnt. Downing Henderson Cole Carroll Kewell

Kewell is from aussie,hence the reason he plays for them.This time last year most Liverpool fans were praying we could get Downing.cole was a free if i remember rightly,Henderson coimg on well,Carroll was always going a major risk considering the over inflated price tag,which we spent from the kitty that we got from sale of Torres,whose been almost as bad this season and babel.A
Kiwired

This is my first time posting to your site, but i feel that this hype surrounding sinclair and dyer is real short sighted, swansea are a decent side with a good manager and players but i feel that these sort of players will be no better than whats there already. I think these players will end up in the same bracket as Downing, Adam, Carroll, they looked like really good players in average teams, but are not capable of making a serious impact over the course of the season. Liverpool need 25 - 30 goals a season striker (which Jermaine Defoe is not), and should really be looking for a player with experience of top level goalscoring on a regular basis and the one player who i think is gettable in this transfer window is Didier Drogba. He has a real presence he would take some of the pressure off Any Carroll, and woild also teach him a hell of alot in a short period and would still give us that goal threat at Anfield

Building a New Stadium in the current climate does not make any economical sense.

Can you explain the reasons why?

Chin up buddy, it might warm up in a few weeks. This climate isn't ideal but we can at least be positive and hope for a good summer. I know what ya mean tho I wouldn't like to be out on a site in this weather.

TAYPOT

Building now is the best time (if you can organise finance) everything should be cheaper from material to labour...recessions can be good....

It does make sense if its going to cost you more money to redevelop Anfield by having to purchase the land around anfield, I also knew they would go for this option or we would have redeveloped Anfield years ago

It does make sense:
Cost of money is low
Material costs are depressed
Labour costs are depressed
And in 2/3 years time we'll be coming out of recession and have more money in our pockets as the government bribes us with tax cuts.
The stadium would be full for every game.

Is that tom hicks?

Building in the current climate would be alot cheaper than 4-5 years ago,bulding materials and labour costs are alot cheaper now than they were 4-5 years ago.

I would strongly disagree........ obviously demand for tickets is extremely high as it always is with LFC and during the current climate labour, land, and everything associated with the building trade is as cheap as its been in years.......... also very good for the local community. a win win situation in my opinion

We need to move to a new stadium. I enjoy going to Anfield as much as the next fan BUT its cramped and outdated. We NEED the new stadium, someone will want to sponsor our might club and while thats being built we can still play at Anfield without a lose on match day takings

There couldn't be a better time to build if finance is forthcoming. Financially and football wise, a bit of success on the field of play is essential to maintain good attendances.

We need a BIG stadium to compete with other BIG teams in europe.70,000 every other week would help pay the cost of building it.But we need a winning team first.Look at what's happend at Arsenal,plus we aint won anthing in a few years.

I think it needs to be 70,000 min , spending 300 million on gaining 15,000 seats does not make sense !!

I would to Defoe at lfc but he is not worth 20 mill. Maybe kk could use joe cole as part of the deal? Just a thought {Ed002's Note - It would need to wait until the summer in that case.}

Would not sell Cole anyway especially to a rival team

We have given a Swedish youngster A 2 week trial.
He has all the characteristics of Drogba.
We have beaten a host of top clubs to him. He is Abdul Aziz aka baby Drogba

This is old news

He is I hear 14 so in maybe 5 years we might see him in the 1st team but in the meantime we need a striker to play right NOW! I've lost count of the number of "Wonder boys" we signed under the previous 2 or 3 managers who vanished without ever playing a single 1st team game.

Anytime a player is compared to an older great they NEVER fulfil the dream.

Aka: Milan Baros

Just like the little drogba chelsea signed and look how good he is

Another example ".....On signing him, Houllier dubbed Cheyrou the "new Zidane".

I also heard we are looking to bring back Anthony le Tallac and Florent Sinema Pongolle to see if they have lived up to their potential.

17 Jan 2012 12:07:22
Defoe on his way to melwood for talks, anyone know if there's any truth in this ?

Please, in the name of all that's good and holy NOOOOO!

Somehow very much doubt it if the papers are anything to go by 20m for a 29yr old, not gonna happen at all.

BigD

Were have you heard this

Can see that 1 runnin a bit longer mate

I will seriously begin to doubt KDs transfer sense if he blows a penny over 5m on him.... For the prices being bundled about we could do so much better.... We got Suarez for around that didn't we?

We need a stiker but defoe is not the man for the job thats why harry got adebayor on loan defoe.

Nar messi has been seen in melwood lad

Hi eds.
Great site. Just wanted to ask is there any interest in adam johnson?. I think if we could get him for 11 mil he could do a good job on the right wing. {Ed002's Note - If he were available there will certainly be interest.}

17 Jan 2012 12:00:44
hi ed what is going on with the interest of the lille striker sow is there any interest and is there a chance of getting him. {Ed002's Note - Try the search function.}

17 Jan 2012 11:32:29
Ed any truth to the baby drogba on trial? {Ed002's Note - Sorry, I have no idea what you mean. He has a couple of brothers but I would be very surprised if either interested Liverpool.}

It says on skysports website that he has started a two week trial. {Ed002's Note - Who are you talking about?}

I'm guessing they are talking about Abdul Aziz

Ray {Ed002's Note - In which case it would have been easier to say, and yes it is true but he is real young still.}

He is on about the 14 year old swede lad with have taken on trail...press have nick named the baby drogba

Abdul aziz a swedish teenager

Sky Sports understands Liverpool have handed a two-week trial to Swedish teenager Abdul Aziz, who has been dubbed the baby Didier Drogba.
The 14-year-old, who was born in Sierra Leone, has an excellent scoring record for his club ISK Norkopping and with the Sweden Under-15 national team.
Manchester United and City had both been watching the youngster, but have been caught napping by their north west rivals who moved swiftly to land Aziz on a trial.
His arrival at Anfield represents a real coup for Liverpool as Aziz is viewed as one of the biggest talents to emerge from Sweden in a generation. Hope this helps ed {Ed002's Note - His real name would have helped.}

Abdul aziz teen sensation from sweeden I believe. On a two week trial. Bit of a coup for liverpool as we vended off or beat to the punch utd city and arsenal.

Swedish youngster Abdul Aziz IS on a 2 week trail for us. Supposed to be the next Drogba hence the name baby Drogba {Ed002's Note - Makes a change to the next Messi.}

I think they are referring to a player called Aziz who plays in Sweden and has been offered a trial. Guessing he has been likened to Drogba at some point

KopIdol

Being a swedish red i know who this kid is, and believe me, he will be GOOD! If we snatch him up, he will be in the first team squad before turning 18!

Liverpool to send Andy Carroll to Newcastle on loan which would see the Ameobi brothers go to anfield on a year loan. {Ed002's Note - So taking a player who is out injured for the rest of the season is OK?}

The Ameobi brothers?? i'd rather have the blues brothers

Are you for real...

Drivel try again

Eds do not know why ye take the the time to reply to this drivel,bozo the clown would post a more imaginative piece! {Ed002's Note - You replied as well.}

More rubbish

Utter rubbish

I heard it was Carroll in exchange for some kid named Alan Shearer! Anyone know if he's any good?

This is seriously the worst one i have ever heard. good job mate.

They don't know!

17 Jan 2012 11:10:07
Why would we ever want Tevez? Overpaid mercenary, who brings nothing but trouble. It would be great if he couldn't get a move and was forced to rot at Man City. Even better if he never plays professional football again, rough justice.

Tevez wants to leave england?, why would he go to any premier league team?

What's the harm in loaning him for 6 months if City pick us half his wages? we secure 4th and then he get stroll into the sunset

Still think he'll sign with one of the Milan Clubs though {Ed002's Note - It is simply never going to happen. Manchester City certainly do not want to loan him out and under no circumstances will they be paying his wages.}

Nice hypocrisy! We call the case against Suarez one sided because it's in favour of Evra's testimony BUT you are happy to accept Mancini's nonsense as fact. {Ed002's Note - What are you talking about?}

Carlos Tevez is a world class footballer who has been a sucess where ever he has gone! n.b. note how shocked we all where when Fergie didnt keep him at UTD! If we had Tevez and Suarez up front we'd score an extra 20 gls a season and probably concede 15 less!!
can you think of any defensive pairing in world football that could play their way out with those two nipping at your ankles?

Tevez has been treated abysmally. Mancini used his supposed refusal to play against Bayern as a handy diversionary tactic for the fact that Bayern ripped them apart. Tevez should have been player of the year last season and he is absolutely correct to have the hump with City and Mancini who have shown him zero loyalty. His wages would be too high for Liverpool though, unfortunately.

Hugh Pugh.

I wouldn't touch Tevez with sh*ep on a stick!
Shame he's such a blob because he's undoubtedly a brilliant player, but ed is right, it'll never happen for a number of obvious reasons

Cause he puts the ball in the back of the net, end of. But will never happen

What the hell is wrong with most of you? Tevez does not want to be in the north west and whatever team he plays for now he will do so reluctantly. Very unlikely he would even favour a move to the capital and clearly his family want a meditterean lifestyle. You want to bring in a player on almost double our top earner yet refuses. To play..... Great he knows where the goal is but shame he throws his toys out of his pram cos he his not deemed fit enough to start. I used ti be a massive fan of his pre his west ham days but his positive contribution is now outweighed by his negativity. He has lost his place in the national team and has stated on many an occasion he wants to retire at 30. What a great aquisition he would be.

Hi Eds,

Just wondered what the estimated price it would take to sign Hazard? He is the type of player we need, but i know he is too expensive and fsg has injected a lot of money already. If chelsea sign him i fear the race for 4th will be over already - he is an amazing player!

RedChris {Ed002's Note - I am not going to be getting in to the cost, but Hazard is not going to be moving to Liverpool.}

Race for fourth? While we are inly 5 points behind Chelsea, people seem to forget we are actually 7th! Chelsea will only get stronger, and the chance of fourth is now remote at best. I cannot see us besting Arsenal or Chelsea, though we should get ahead of Newcastle ( sounds cynical, but we are 21 games in and they are ahead of us and playing with more confidence). I think Kenny has put focusbon a small victory ( Carling Cup ) and will have a go at FA Cup if we can best United. I don't think Kenny truly feels 4th is attainable and is realistic that a trophy is an achievement and will refocus For next year. Sounds ridiculous now, but when Kenny says this you will all agree.

Hazard is an amazing player in France. If he comes to the EPL, he will have to prove that all over again. Just because he is half decent in the ligue 1 does not mean he'll be a success here.

I know he is at the ACON but what do do think our chances of getting Demba Ba and Moussa Sow.

I too expect Senegal to go far if not win the ACON, so January is out of the question, but do you think we could sign both NATUARAL GOAL SCORERS?

However in the summer I we finish top 4 do you think we would have a chance of getting bigger forwards? e.g Hazard, Cavani ( might just be wishful thinking ) but you never know :)

Cheers pal, best site on the Internet - Keep up the good work!

{Ed002's Note - I don't know of any interest in Demba Ba. Sow - a chance just perhaps. As for the summer, it will be driven by Champions League qualification but don't expect Hazard or Cavani.}

Without meaning to sound rude- if you're a big fan of the site you would know both these have been discussed on a daily basis. I love the site but even I'm bored of the same questions being asked countless times a day- god knows how the ed's must feel! So heres an idea.. If you really love the site try reading the previous 20 posts as a starting point.. And btw ba is a complete injury liability- a well know fact since his west ham days and has been a discussion point numerous times on here.

round-up on the recent names banded about

Sinclair, Dyer, Joe Allen, Texeira, Sow, Rodeiro, Defoe, Coutinho, Castaignos.

I believe for £20-25m you could quite easily pick up 3 or 4 of them. Personally I'd go for Sinclair, Allen, Dyer and Defoe.

In these 4 we get everything we've been crying out for. Pace & trickery on the wings plus sinclair and dyer been knocking goals in too. Defoe a proven goal scorer. Allen can fill in the DM role as he plays a simple effective game. And as the stats prove he has a higher pass competition than Xavi and iniesta, which is saying something.

To help balance the books you could let Kuyt move on. He is and has been a fine servant of the club but with the euros coming up he will want to be playing more to keep his place in the Dutch team. He deserves to be treated with respect and if there is an offer of £5-8m then I think we should take it, thank him for his loyalty and wish him all the best.

KK has said support is there if he needs it and I think after the last game he will use it. with these additions I really believe we'll get top 4
Sinner21

As staying in the preimership is worth 50 -60 million a year, do you think swansea are going to sell there 3 best players for 25 million and risk going down? I mean why would they sell Sinclair, Allen and Dyer???

Basil

Am sure it's leon britton with higher pass completion than xavi not joe allen.
skurks

Mate this isn't footie manager Swansea aren't gonna sell their three best players - why would they?!

I thought Harry had put a 20K price tag on Defoe.He is not likely to sell to us as we could spike their title hopes.
So Joe Allen plays a simple and effective game, like Jay Spearing then who I feel is under rated.

Im putting messi, ronaldo and neymar into that list, now what ?

Are you picking the Swansea players just bcos you watched them against Arsenal? Are they really Liverpool quality bcos they've have a couple of good games? No offence but we have enough average players we should be aiming for proven players especially with our current situation

"Im putting messi, ronaldo and neymar into that list, now what ?"

Your just being silly now aren't you?

We are looking at quality not that rubbish, sure we could get all three for about 5 million but we want good players like Defoe.

Defoe is bad...we don't need more inconsistent strikers in our team thanks.
Scott

Your making up names like dyer, defoe allen etc so i will too but better ones.

We should be in for messi ronaldo and neymar. What are we waiting for ?

U have chosen all the british players. bad pick.
Indian Buzzer

Swansea would be reluctant to let one of their best players go, never mind three.

People are saying that players we are linked with are average and that we should be setting the bar higher in terms of quality. However I believe that there are certain points being overlooked. The players of the quality that we want are rarely available in January, and if they are, then become priced out of our budget.

Secondly we require several additions to the team/squad and it is extremely unlikely that a high turnover of players will lead to an instant and positive impact.

With all this in mind, KK will therefore have to rely predominantly on the squad already at his disposal, and also why the eds consistently say that only 1 or 2 will sign.

17 Jan 2012 10:46:28
Spurs want £20 million for Defoe, we probably wont pay that. Marsielle want £20 million for Remy, spurs wont pay that.

Why dont we just take the simple option and buy Remy ourselves?

Thoughts {Ed002's Note - Liverpool have not shown any interest in Remy and Marseille do not want to sell him.}

17 Jan 2012 10:18:37
Reading today that spurs want 20 mil I don't think he worth that especially when Carlos tevez is in the market for 25 million would love to see him at the club a proper signing !??

Wages! People need to remember we won't pay over inflated wages

Apart from the fact the whole of Manchester hates him he has no redeeming qualities as a person Good footballer not LFC material though

I wouldn't want Tevez. He has been more trouble than he is worth at both Man City and Man United. I think we would get him on board and a year down the track he wants to leave and spits the dummy out!

Tevez at 25 million is way better then Defoe at 20 million... Just shows Suarez was a steal at 23 odd million!... Major mistake was Carroll signing last minute... Seems like a panic buy, we should have insisted for Sturridge and money for Torres! ...ce la vie

You had better be joking

Can anyone explain how close Aqualani is to hitting the threshold of games playes hence joining for 8 million? {Ed002's Note - When he gets to 25 games he will trigger the clause and be bought - but not for £8M.}

He's not to far off now i think he has 5 games or there abouts to go. Be nice to get rid of his fat wage.

KNEE JERK

He´s played in 20 so far, but sidelined at the moment, footinjury, for about a month.

I've a feeling they will pull a fast one and make sure he is stuck on 24 games!

17 Jan 2012 09:06:10
Hi eds do we have a real interest in defoe or sinclair?

Mighty reds {Ed002's Note - I honestly don't know. If there is interest in Defoe I am sure something could be done.}

How can one say Defoe is better than Carrol. He can't get a starting place in his own side. We need a out and out striker with just goal in his sight, Someone like Chicharito who is a poacher. We have a brilliant striker in Suarez with all the trickery but he just needs to hit the target and improve his shot conversion ratio.

For 20m quoted if there was any interest im sure it would have been ended as he is a 10m player at best.

BigD

Zzzzz ! How can there be interest in Defoe, he is 29, totally against our apparent new policy.

The fact is he is better than Carroll, the point being he's scoring goals when he comes off the bench or when he actually Makes a start which is more than Carroll has? The price 20mill? I can't see it myself its probably just paper talk

He is 29 end of. Next candidate ?

Bent is better defoe

17 Jan 2012 09:05:41
Hello Eds!

Can you shed some light on the Joe Cole situation for me please?

I wondered if you think he would come back to LFC after his loan period is over?

Do the club want him back?
Does he even want to come back?

Thanks in advance,

Would you have him back ?

Bel - yes
Unbel - no

17 Jan 2012 08:52:36
hi guys, i hope we don't get defoe. Apparently spurs have priced him at 20 million. What a stupid price tag for a 29 year old. Also why get him, when we can get someone who is young and not a british flop lol. What about huntelaar from schalke. what do u guys think?. Thanks and YNWA

Hunterlaar would be a very good choice and buy has scored goals everywhere he has been minus Madrid, and it shouldn't be too hard to persuade him to come, and price would be good at 15m.

BigD

Schalke are going for the title airgo will not sell the player that has got them in that position would be the equivalent of selling torres that season we finished 2nd

I wouldn't say he his a flop. If we had Adebeyor and Vande vaart in the their current form we wouldn't even be looking for a striker. Defoe can't get in the side but he knows where the goal is and that is exactly what we need right now. 20m is a bit silly but 10-14m 2.5 year deal, gets my vote!

Huntelaar is not exactly much younger.

Not exactly prolific either.

17 Jan 2012 08:04:54
Liverpools main target is Lukas Podolski from Kln. If we are lucky he can join us in January. Kln want Kuyt in exchange or loan. Maxi is another player that could be included in the deal.

Someone wrote here a while ago that Walter Gargano is another target. There is still talks between Liverpool and Napoli regarding Gargano, price is around 5 mill.

Kenny Dalgslish is looking for a right winger, striker ( poacher) and a defensive midfielder.

Hopefully you are right, podolski is a clinical striker that can play at international level. He has a eye for the goal and if koln want kuyt they can take him asap.

Gargano is another Nigel D Jong, a walking foul

Love the way Gargano was explained.....a walkin foul...lol

Gargano starts for Napoli who are still in the CL why would he leave now and not stay until the summer?

Gargano walking foul....where as Carroll runs with a fouling walk. Or has I over-heard at the game "he runs like a horse with only 2 legs"

Gargano is a very good player, looks like macherano but with a better passing quality. Walter Gargano wants to come to EPL, Liverpool already got Suarez. Why not!

Story from todays indepentant says,

Liverpool are intrested in signing Joe Allen from Swansea, as he fits the buy them young, and have a higher transfer resale model the club are using these days, as he is only 21.

I think he is a good player, but i don't think centre midfield is a postion that needs improving, the club have enough players in that postion Gerrard, Adam, Henderson, Lucas, Shelvey, Spearing. Like everyone on this site i think we need another striker!

Basil

Gerrard (class act), Adam (Muck), Henderson(possibly will improve but at the moment very shakey), Lucas(injured), Shelvey (good spell at Blackpool but then so did Adam, at the most unproven), Spearing (fairly solid so far but could be prone to getting banned for games here and there). I have to agree the club have enough players for that position however I question the Quality, Gerrard and Spearing aside the rest often appear like schoolboys drafted in to play for LFC for the day , nervous and out of their depth.

He's no better than henderson so whats the point?

I agree. We don't need to touch the midfield - especially with Gerrard back. What we need is someone who can score goals. I don't care who. I don't care if it's a loan deal. Just someone who can knock in at least a goal every 2 games to convert those draws into 3 points to get 4th place.

We've been solid at the back this season. The passing has been fantastic to watch at times. But, the final product is simply unacceptable! The only chance of improving without buying is that if Gerrard and Suarez actually manage to get run of games together...

Liverpool to revert back to the original 60,000 seater stadium plan
Liverpool to build on Stanley Park using original plans

Liverpool have decided to proceed with their original, nine-year-old stadium plans once they have secured the finance to start construction.

That means the alternative, futuristic stadium designs proposed by former owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett Jnr have been ditched for good.

It also ensures there will be no fresh planning application required by the current American owners to restart construction once a lucrative naming rights package is in place.

Fenway Sports Group has been working with Manchester-based architects AFL, the firm which first submitted designs when Liverpool announced their intention to move to Stanley Park as far back as 2000.

It is these proposals, which were put forward for planning permission in 2003 and given the green light a year later, which will become the blueprint for a new 60,000-seat stadium costing around £300 million.

The club must still find the finance to kick-start the scheme, and there is no immediate prospect of work beginning, but AFL's return to preferred status is another significant twist in the seemingly never-ending saga of Liverpool's ground move.

The AFL plans were first introduced by former chief executive Rick Parry but were abandoned by Hicks and Gillett shortly after their ill-fated takeover in 2006.

Hicks scrapped the original designs in favour of those he commissioned from a Dallas-based architecture firm, HKS.

The £400 million costs of the second scheme effectively triggered the beginning of the end of the old regime, as Hicks and Gillett could not raise the funds to build it.

It also led to the first major split of the old boardroom, as the plans were seen as too expensive and impractical.

Now Hicks' grand scheme has been permanently shelved with FSG deciding it will modernise and upgrade the first set of designs.

Since buying the club, John W Henry has worked through a variety of options to establish how to solve Liverpool's enduring stadium problem.

Henry originally wanted to redevelop Anfield, but after a year of toil working through the planning issues, and the cost of buying nearby residential properties, it was accepted this was not feasible.

FSG has also explored whether to commission new stadium plans, but the time and cost restraint also made that a non-starter.

Liverpool have planning permission for two designs.

If the club submitted a third to Liverpool City Council, it could delay the process by another three years and there could be no guarantee they would be passed, especially given a political fervour to maintain a dialogue with Everton on the controversial issue of a groundshare.

It would be an incredibly risky strategy for FSG to start from scratch.

Liverpool still need to raise around £150 million in sponsorship around half the costs before they can start building any arena, but having decided which course to take there will be fewer obstacles in their way if a naming rights package can be secured in the near future.

That in itself remains a difficulty given economic conditions.

The single, desirable legacy of the Hicks and Gillett era was the fact they actually began preparatory work on Stanley Park prior to having to bring it to a halt when they failed to secure investment.

That means technically, and legally, construction of a stadium is considered to have already started by the council.

This has enabled the new owners to avoid missing out on any deadlines to complete a project.

Liverpool City Council is also eager for the club to make progress as soon as possible, so have not issued time constraints.

Some Liverpool fans may be worried that plans nearly 10 years old, which were publicly criticised by Hicks as being 'out of date' five years ago, are being given a facelift.

However, Liverpool believe Hicks's criticism was always unwarranted and the AFL plans inspired in part by the Millennium Stadium in Wales were also impressive.

Although the club are limited in terms of altering how the arena will look, its size and the space it will fill from the accepted designs, there is still plenty of capacity to upgrade the interiors to modern standards.

Any suggestion the nine-year-old architects' plan is out of date will be dismissed by the owners, who recognise AFL's vast portfolio in stadium design.

The firm is responsible for recent upgrades at Old Trafford and the Nou Camp, and built the Liverpool, Manchester United, Chelsea and Everton training complexes.

Perfect timing to feed the press this as we avnt signed anyone yet?

peter

I've seen this story today in the telegraph too.

Personally i think that the new stadium needs to be 65,000 plus as spending 300 million on a 60,000 seater stadium makes no sence to me. Spending that amount of money for an extra 15,000 seats? Could buy a league winning squad for that amount of money!

Basil

A large capacity new stadium is the way forward for this club .... its up to us the supporters and players to make this new stadium another fortress!

The original designs were for 72,000 seated stadium. Hicks want minimum 70,000 to generate revenue to compete with the big boys.

Keep the digital picture day trippersaway and allocate thousands of tickets to young LOCAL supporters

DaveyBootle

Ithas to 70,000 min, for us to keep up financily.Its a lot of money if it is to be only 60,000

DaveyBootle.
Not all supporters who do not live in Liverpool are your digital picture daytrippers you know! Just because you live locally doesn't mean you support them any better than me. In 70's/80's I was there every week because I was able to afford it (1.80 to get in then!) and I was living/training /working near. Now I get to Anfield 5 or 6 times a year with my local SUPPORTERS club.
I agree we don't want a load of the prawn sandwich brigade, but we need to be realistic....a certain amount of these will bring money in for the club. I would be there every week if I could, but money /family/logistics/availability of tickets don't allow it......but don't condemn me just because I am not local!
KJS

I thought that was a stupid comment too Davey. Do you have to live within a 2 mile radius of Anfield, to be a 'real' LFC fan?

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

"Any suggestion the nine-year-old architects' plan is out of date will be dismissed by the owners, who recognise AFL's...."

A 9 year old architect! Great to see we're giving youth a chance.

TAYPOT

Just lost any respect I had for Davey Bootle there.

TAYPOT

I love the diversity and different cultures, races and acvents at the ground. I'm fortunate to be from Walton so I'm lucky...its easy for me...yet I don't like What I see. The club needs to embrace the local community and schools so that they don't lose out. It would cost a kid six months pocket money to buy a ticket and that is wrong. We are all as one and the daytrippers refer to people of the city also who forget they ate at a game. Don't take me wrong on this. I love our club and all fans but I see something wrong at the games and urge the club to consider the kids who are in the fortunate position to travel to the games.

DaveyBootle

Looks like a glorified cross between the Reebok and the Etihad it is then! The new design that was produced under Hicks and Gillett was much more impressive and would have given the Club its own identity by providing something different in terms of stadiums that we see elsewhere in England and Europe. I had hoped that the stadium may have been the only good thing that came from their time in charge.......

Daveybootle:(Bootle is in Sefton not Liverpool)

Bootle is part of the Sefton Council Local Authority and is therefore not part of Liverpool.

You will be surprised how often someone from Bootle will say they are from Liverpool

Just how do you think we are going to fill our new stadium with comments like yours.

I have youngs sons who I would love to take to the game but I do not blame fans from other parts of the country or tourists as they are so important economically to the City of Liverpool.

Steve068(from Liverpool not Sefton and has purple wheelie bin)

But Davey, some kids/people have to save money, all year round, just to watch their beloved Reds, just once. We are a global club, with a global fanbase mate and without the 'daytrippers' there would be no need to build the stadium. LFC does not belong to Liverpool mate, we are just based there.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Blair, LFC have promised for so many years that they will help regenerate a large area of North Liverpool by either expanding Anfield and improving the area around the ground or by relocating to Stanley Park and replacing the current ground with Anfield Plaza, a mixed-use development that will provide jobs for local people not only during construction but also upon completion. The club began to purchase local terraced homes around the ground with the intention of knocking them down to expand. These homes are still standing empty to this day, over ten years later. Local people have been promised so much by the club, but what they have seen is actually a mass exodus away from an area that once thrived under its association with LFC. Children have grown up in the shadow of Anfield, down streets that are less than half occupied. This is a result of the clubs actions and i think that DaveyBootle is right in what he says to a certain extent. We (the club) owe something back to these people who have grown up in such poor conditions (Venmore Street is the most deprived street in the country yet it is within view of the most successful club) as a result of the clubs inability to make a decision (expansion or relocation). The Club does belong to Liverpool, and for that reason it should be desperate to give back to the local people whom it has had in limbo for the past 10 years plus.

There's no doubting that the regeneration of the area, needs addressing unnamed poster, no arguments there. But if you are convinced that LFC belongs to Liverpool City, then I might aswell go and support someone else. I had the same arguement with a Manc on the Manc page (Rainfishtrombone). He believes if you don't live within a 2 mile radius of OT, are not a Stone Roses fan and havn't got a green + gold scarves, then you're not a 'real' Manc. Next time I go to a game I must remember to wear my Beatles T-shirt, bring along my John Bishop dvd. Just to remind myself, that I do indeed support LFC, how's that unnamed poster (probably from Liverpool). lol

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

I'd just like to say that I think Davey has been taken a little bit out of context. I don't think he's saying Anfield should be the sole preserve of local kids; I think he's just saying that SOME tickets should be more readily available for the local kids at more affordable prices to generate the next generation of local LFC supporters. The club needs these just as much, if not more, than what are commonly referred to as "daytrippers and jester hat wearers" in order to build up a sustainable future revenue stream of weekly matchgoers as our history shows they have done in the past. ( And not the fight for your life boys pen of the past!)

I think Davey was saying it's important that as a club, they take this into consideration rather than just using it as an excuse to maximise revenues from day one like they have at Castle Greyskull.

I've been going since a kid in the 70's, and there have always been a huge Irish contingent and people from outside the local area amongst our fan base. The 80's saw even more nationalities at the ground as foreign players become a routine part of the league. As the years have gone on, this has grown further with easier travel for supporters from other regions and countries.

It would be disrespectful to our history for anyone to believe that any people outside Liverpool are not true supporters. Look at how many of our 96 came from outside the Liverpool area, and they paid for supporting our club with their lives. Anyone even questioning the integrity of supporters from other countries and regions outside Merseyside is a disgrace, but I genuinely don't think Davey was. I think he had a very valid point, but just put it across badly. He is after all a Bootle wool!! ;o)

Sean JFT96

Was looking at AFL website, they have a stadium design on there as a "concept stadium" Looks rather like the inside of the current man city stadium. Maybe they are upgrading, or the colour is to throw people off. Or it could just be a random stadium that they have decided to put some time into for no reason.

Forgot to post the link

www.afl-uk.com/ProjectDetail.aspx?projectID=75

More importantly, could it be "easily" expanded in the future?
JRF Red

Blair, i don't think that you get my point. I'm not saying that only people within a two mile radius are welcome to our ground, nor do you have to speak in a broad scouse accent or wear a Beatles t-shirt. My point is that the local people should be embraced within all aspects of future stadium plans. I do believe that the Club belongs to Liverpool and should form a foundation for the local residents to establish the sense of identity that has been taken away from them since the area has gone into decline. Lets not forget, in the glory days (before my time) the areas around Anfield and Goodison were thriving with pubs, local businesses, churches etc because it was one of the most densely populated areas in the country. All this has gone and what is left is a fragmented community with poor living standards. I know that it is vital for the club to increase its capacity in one way or another to increase revenue but however they decide to do this, it is vital that they do it with the best interests of the local community in mind. Our club can provide the main catalyst for regeneration in North Liverpool and can help to improve the lifes of many people. Of course the people that travel to the match from outside of Liverpool are important also, but once the final whistle blows, if they were to take a quick glimpse at the condition of the surrounding homes on their way out of the ground, it may be a reminder to them that not everyone has their hopes and aims measured out in terms of results on the pitch, especially those to whom Anfield is not only where they go to watch the game, but where they live. How's that Blair?

Great response unnamed poster, but I don't think you get my point? LFC is and always will be a global brand mate, not just a Liverpool City brand. Like I said, the regeneration of the area, jobs, etc..goes without saying.

Do you think that Liverpool is the only deprived area, of Britain? I live slap bang in the middle, of a deprived area/estate mate and can see no bright future on the horizon, for my beloved City.

Liverpool now have the regeneration to look forward to, which it deserves. Again mate, my point was that LFC (the club) belongs to us all. We will all reep the rewards, of what a new stadium will bring. But the people of Liverpool, will prosper the most and about time too.

Blair Mayne YNWA JFT96

Ps. what worries me more than anything is what would happen with the current stadium if we were to move to Stanley Park. We are struggling to finance the New Stadium itself so how would we fund the regeneration of the area around Anfield that the club has promised to these people for several years. I fear that this development would come much further down the line than the construction of the new stadium and what we would be left with is a derelict stadium surrounded by derelict homes with the odd resident dotted amongst. What chance would these people have of getting out of the mess that they will find themselves in? NONE. What the club should have done when they purchased these terraced homes is redevelop them to a suitable standard and make them available for 'daytrippers' or foreign supporters of the club to come and stay before the game. This would not only inject more capital into the area but would also reduce the strain on the local infrastructure during matchdays. Instead, the club has allowed them to remain empty and run-down.

Let's not get too excited or carried away about this just yet. The article is writtem by Chris Bascombe who is persona non grata at Anfield these days because of all the sh@te he wrote about the club when he was with the screws of the world. I certainly doubt that he is a credible source for any information about LFC these days that is not already common knowledge.

Yes, there is no doubting that we are a global brand with followers from all corners of the earth. However, when a supporter arrives at Anfield from further afield, they see the whole picture, not just the stadium. They see the state of the area around the ground but many of them will be clueless to how and why its has ended up like this. So, the ground is synonomous with its surroundings and for that reason i feel that it belongs to the local people and the club has a duty to follow its promise and give back to these people. To a fan that travels to the game, they want a new stadium so we can increase revenue, buy BIG players or MARQUEE signings as they say. To a local resident it is much more sensitive than this. Their quality of life depends on the clubs decision and they will be directly effected by the outcome. You say we all reep the rewards......when we win everyone is happy.....we go the pub, we get pissed, we sing songs etc but when the dust settles it is the local fans that have to return to their home that is sandwiched between two derelict properties while 'daytrippers' return to their nice comfy home in the suburbs. So yes we do all reep the rewards of success, but the reasons for wanting a new stadium are different in either case. A 'daytripper' wants success for the club as he/she is a supporter. They want increased revenue which will bring big signings etc. To a local supporter these things are also important, but not as important as the clubs role in improving the quality of their lives.

I can assure you unnamed poster. Everytime I come home from a game, I certainly don't 'go home to my comfy, home in the suburbs'. If you seen the sh!t hole I live in, then you would know what I mean. I've been to Liverpool on many occasions and regard it as my 2nd home mate and know what you speak off. I would love a new stadium to be built (no matter who built it) in the City I live. Like you said, the quality of living standards, would improve dramatically, for some people. But my City does not and will not have this option to look forward to, in the forseable future.

Ang on a min, you tryin to say that bootle isnt liverpool?? Are you mad, Look its as simple as this, If it has a L postcode then its in the city of liverpool, It may be a borough of liverpool but it is still liverpool. My father and grandfather worked on seaforth docks and lived in seaforth, That was L21, So if its not liverpool why does it have a liverpool postcode, Im gettin pissed of with this now, So who is gunna tell Carra he isnt from liverpool.? Sort ya heads out guys, dont ya thik we have enough to think about with the way things are at the min without questioning our own identity. If you were born in a liverpool postcode your from liverpool, Simples,, As for the rest of the supporters, I dont give a s**t how many times you are able to get to a match, As long as you do when you can. As far as i am concerned I WILL NEVER WALK ALONE as long as i have liverpool in my heart. BE PROUD, BE SCOUSE.

No, Bootle is not in Liverpool. It is a former county borough which is in the county palatine of Lancashire. In 1974 Bootle lost it's borough status, and rather than be absorbed in to neighbouring Liverpool, it chose to almagamate with other towns in South-West Lancashire to become the newly formed Sefton Metropolitan Borough Council. Liverpool has tried twice to annexe Bootle, the last time being in 1908, when there was uproar in the town and the debate was thrown out by parliament. Being so close to Liverpool, Bootle does share some of the characteristics such as the Liverpool accent, however people in Bootle are not scousers. On entering Bootle everything changes though, the lamp-posts, the tarmac, the street signage and speaking to people in the town you can see that they are fiercly proud of their independence from Liverpool.

Apparently they are revisiting the 2008 design, 72,000. Link to AFL's design on their site:

aflarch.demonweb.co.uk/projects.php?action=showProject&catID=43&projectID=227

I think it looks too generic to the other modern stadiums, but the 18k Kop does stand out.

Thank you for great link.

I do like this design but would like to see it tweaked so as to have a more distinct kop end. I know the kop does stand out but not enough for me.

steve068

To the know all who knows f*** all. I am born and bred in Bootle; I don't know anyone who would say they aren't a scouser? Who are you? And what credibility do you have to spout this crap!
So I guess your saying carra isn't a scouser? You really are a tit.
You need to get your facts right Merseyside comprises of the boroughs of Liverpool, Knowsley, Wirral, Sefton and St Helens, and the term scouser was not given to Liverpool people, it was given to the Dockers who copied the Norwegian dish Lobscouse, the was eaten by the Dockers as a supplement while they were working long shifts, the food would fall of the back off the containers and put together, commonly known as the poor mans dish, there was also a dry version of scouse which had no meat in it. Now to the point where was the largest dock in Merseyside?? Seaforth was and still is the busiest dock in the Merseyside area. So, the term scouser was given to the Dockers who worked there, most in fact near enough all lived in the borough of Seaforth and Bootle, so that being said, people from Bootle and Seaforth are the true SCOUSERS.

eds is bruce grobeler, talking through his hat or has he got credibility! when he said we are close to someone from the dutch league {Ed002's Note - I have no idea about his credibility.}

Bruce was always a bit of a joker?

None of the strikers in Holland really fit the bill. The closest one Texeira has only been at the club 6 months so that seems highly unlikely. {Ed002's Note - Maybe BG got it wrong and it was Dutch striker playing in Italy and/or a South American - which takes you back toward what Macca was suggesting. Or perhaps it is a smokescreen for Cavani and Hazard?}

Tweets are suggesting Texiera as he did not train with Groningem yesterday and has supposedly had talks with LFC.
